Worth paying Rs300 for a Gujarati Thali. Good food is served. Attendants are courteous. Very good ambience.

Cost is liitle bit high per thali 300 INR. Service and food quality are nice. I would like to request reduce the price per thali. So other people can also try. Buttermilk quality is not good. Please JayVijay hotel for ButterMilk quality.

It is one best place where I have satisfied my hunger with satisfaction and tasty food. They will serve you more than 12 food items. They will serve you in small quantity but no limit on your demand again. You can eat whatever item any number of times. I like there concept of providing variety with taste and avoiding the watage of the food. The place is well maintained and hygienic. I will suggest you to enjoy the gujrati food here at very affordable price. The moong dal halwa was the best for me.

It was my first trip to Ahmedabad, check in at hotel kanak, opposite Gujarat College, will review about it as well.. but for now reviewing Pakwan Dining hall.. I was excited and curious to experience Gujarati thali. As it was my first time experience. Coming from a Punjabi family based at Indore. My tounge was used to all types of cuisine but Gujarati food was alien to it. Starting with vibe...vibe of Ahmedabad is somewhat like Mumbai or Thane. Pakwan Dining hall reminds me of a restaurant showcased in Bollywood movies of 90s in which actor and actresses goes for a mid day meal. I went here for dinner. There were few customers. Some were local, a South Indian and us. Staff was composed and soft spoken. We spoke in Hindi and they replied without difficulty in understanding. They offered us 12 different items at a price of 280 and it was full Paisa vasool. Service was fast. Chappatis were hot. I must say Gujarati food rebooted my taste buds. I experienced all sweet, spice, salt, sour, bitter at same time and each taste is balance. Staff was so attentive that they were communicating with eyes with each other, as soon any bowl turns empty another one immediately asks for refill. I almost completed all my meal without having a refill and literally enjoyed it. Thumbs up to hygiene, material used in food preparation and service. P.S. if you want salt, ask for "mitthu" in Gujarati Timing are 11-3 noon Evening- 7-10 pm

The dinning hall only serves Gujarati thali which are of 'unlimited' category. The place is clean, properly ventilated and has a good staff. The service is extremely quick and the prices are also very reasonable! The ambience is also good and the seating is comfortable! The taste is great and so is the variety that they serve in a single Thali. The dinning hall is pure vegetarian!

Loved the food, everything was lipsmacking in their unlimited Thali however, they also need to include limited Thali for those who would like to have light meal and are not too hungry which will also avoid wastage of food.

One vegetable was smelly so we have to throw in dustbin. Rest all the food was good and tasty. The quantity was also good. It can serve 4 people from 1.tiffin

Rotis were the size of small puris...even puris are bigger than them...700 for 20 rotis of this small size is too expensive..

Due to technical problems I m not able to order,so order placed by friends. Quantity and quality is very poor. Roti was not roasted properly. Both subji are full of oil which is not possible to eat at all. Dal,subji quantities 40 to 50 % of small container available in pack. Farsan only one piece. Only sweet is better in quality n quantity.

The worst ever Gujarati thali. I ordered a packed dinner and the packaging was very bad. The oil was spilled all over the plastic bag and the plastic dish was also leaking.<br/><br/>Equally bad was the food. The curries were literally soaking in oil and even tasted like oil. The rotis were uneven in shape, size and colour. Some were burnt and some had holes through it.<br/><br/>Very very bad experience....

Yesterday I visit there. First of all this is my first experience to try some Gujrat food🙂<br/>I like ambience , infact staff is also friendly. Food was good in taste. They serve unlimited food in 270/- . Food quality , quantity overall is good 🙂 I don't remember any name of dish but taste is good 🙂

This restaurant is good choice for authentic Gujarati Thali. There are large variety of dishes served along with sweet dishes. Ambience is OK and service is fast.

After seeing the reviews and food images, me & my wife decided to have dinner here. the place is not at all welcoming, very few people come to have food here, may be due to their bad experience. the service is not at all good alike other Gujarati restaurants, for every food item you have to keep on asking and asking. the tables and chairs are not clean, many food items are cold. ₹250 for person for such food & place is not worth.

I was surprised at how good this thali is. Very typical, sweetish Gujarati style food. I loved the sheer variety of dishes. Quite oily and fried, but if you're eating a thali you shouldn't expect health food to be honest. The ambience is not too fancy, but the food certainly makes up for it! I actually preferred this to Gopi, which is my usual thali spot.

Since we were in Ahmedabad, we thought of having Gujarathi thali and zeroed on Pakwan!<br/>There were numerous items served on the plate leaving you confused.<br/>Food was great! Unlimited quantity! They served 4 veggies, 2 desserts, 3 types of farsan, etc. The only turn off was the 'aamras' which tasted more like mazza than aamras. <br/>Ambience was good. Only reason even giving 3.0 star is being modest on my end . The service and head of serving staff was a good team leader and over looking individual do they need and refill of any dish constantly and with a smile. Awesome place, great Gujarati thali. A hardcore non vegetarian from Kolkata can fall in love with veg food just because of this place. Numerous items, they keep serving till you are full with food from neck to stomach. A must visit if one wants to have Gujarati food.

Horrible service for payment. Would not accept card even though bill was 500 and owner had a machine. He made me go to nearby ATM which was closed, and made me argue for 15 minutes before angrily accepting card. <br/>Food is average, bland mostly. <br/>Would not recommend.

I was in Ahmedabad for a couple of days and was very keen on having a traditional Gujrati Thaali. I visited here on Sunday afternoon and the place was full. We were a group of four and were seated on a corner table near the window. Service is quite fast as the place operates on Thaali concept and no “menu checking and ordering” formality has to be completed. The servers are adept and quick. In a matter of minutes we had four thaalis before us with numerous katoris and tempting glasses of Chaach before us. The Thaalis had Paneer sabzi, mix veg, meethi dal, bhindi sabzi and other local main course items with pooris, kachori, dhokla, salad and chutneys. Serving continues till your stomach gives up and the staff serves patiently. I left the place with a smile on my face after a hearty meal without burning a hole in my pocket.

This could be your place if you want to taste authentic gujrati cuisine. A huge spread of veg curries with farsans,chapati n puris...tastes ok,nothing extraordinary. If u r a hardcore non vegetarian then ths will not sizzle u much.<br/>But once in a while it's good for a change. <br/>Service is good n prompt n above all its good to watch there sighning language. <br/>Recommended if u r new in ahmbdabad n want to give a try to gujju food.

Palawan is one of my favourite restaurant in Ahmedabad. The food good and service friendly. This week when I was there , I checked why the old pricing is still displayed on zomato. I was curtly informed that it is not their job

Delicious gujrati thali and very well served..the presentation is simple and authentic. A good spread of veg dishes curries and farsan items...dal and kadhi had amazing taste...overall experience was good..khichdi was not a part of lunch menu which wqs disappointing..

Pakvan is famous for gujarti thali, when I settled in chair people start serving, one thali, 7 bowls, 2 dishes and lots of gujarti food which you can enjoy. Taste is good not so special. I like there signing language.

A pocket friendly place.... Not a person who believes in thali though bt visited the place on a recommendation.... Well food was good infact amazing if u r a gujju.... Everything was sweet b it curry, dal, bhaji, etc etc.... For a north Indian whose hardcore non-veggie this is not the rite place.... Bt shrikhand they serve will make u visit twice.... I won't mind going back there again provided shrikhand is served...

Had lunch here on a very hot afternoon. You really don't feel like having so much food on such a hot day and I had to travel a lot in the sun that day.<br/>But once they served food the first thing that caught my attention was the Aam Ras, it looked so tempting and it really didn't disappoint <br/>The spread was just like most Gujarati thali, the taste was quite good and service efficient.<br/>I remember the aam ras server constantly pushing me to have more of aam ras.<br/>Definitely worth a visit when u want a traditional thali especially in summer (because of availability of a certain food item ;-)

3 for the food they offer I woulda given 4 I loved it that much but on last visit I saw some kinda insect rolling over dishes and then I was like mood off and also I went for basundi but they had mango ras so :(

Service here is really commendable as soon as they find ur plate empty they come running and serve more and more until ur full. For service this place is 4.5 on 5 for sure. <br/><br/>Food - from the time they started serving every other item is new and authentic. Nothing was bad totally loved the food there. I don't even know the names. What I liked the most was srikandh omg it was totally worth it. It was gooey, sweet and I had it twice. And the next thing was kichidi I never had such amazing kichidi anywhere till now.. Everything on thali was worth it.<br/><br/>If anyone visiting ahmedabad please go there and have a thali u will totally love it.

PAKWAN - We have heard so much about you. Finally had the opportunity to land here.<br/><br/>place is nice. Service is fast. taste is good.Variety is countless. full value for money. You cant ask for more in so less.<br/><br/>Its only Rs 200 per thali. Looks like its a THALI for common man.

If you are looking forward to have an authentic gujju food that should fit your budget this has to be the place you are looking for.. Apart from that, the thing that stands out is non-verbal communication that they use for placing your orders.. U tell a guy Wat u need and the thing will be in front of u in no time without even a word uttered among waiters.. Just signs..!!

Good food like & cheap

The food was OK but service was sloppy. Normally you expect quick service at any place that serves thali but here we had to ask for items 5 times before it was served.

In terms of Gujarati thali...this is probably one of the best and the oldest places...have been a big fan of Gujarati food...there is nothing new in terms of what is offered here...a typical gujarati thali but at a reasonable price as compared to its competitors...the interiors are generally a bit messy and crowded because of which I give this place a miss at times but the quality of food overpowers that and helps you deal with it too...<br/>the quality of kadhi here is great....better than the other places..the daal and rest of the dishes are pretty much the same as any gujarati place..a special mention to the basundi....really tasty and yumm! very fresh and probably one thing because of which at times I can eat the entire thali...!! <br/>A must go for all thali lovers for sure!

When I visited the place few yrs ago, it was a good experience. Food was delicious, but ..... I visitted it last time, some months ago, it was a shocking surprise. Food taste was terriblely bad. The main part of a Gujarati dish "daal" was watery and tasteless. Rest of items were tasteless too. Rotis were not hot, so feeled me not fresh. The staff was also rough and rushy. I rate this place 2.5 and recommend it to avoid to go.

Pakvan is Restaurant, which offer authentic gujarati thali with authentic gujarati taste.... despite it has some punjabi stuffs also there in thali, now a days it is normal...<br/>but it has really good range of dishes... having such varity of gujarati delicasies like sweets which contains Mohanthal, Basundi, fruit salad, etc..<br/>also have good farsan dishes like small bite size punjabi or chinese samosa, and sandwich dhokala...<br/>it has also undhiyu, which has authentic gujarati taste, which is too good to taste....<br/>has also some famouse gujarati dishes like mag-bhat, batata nu shak, all tasted very good....<br/>Overall Very Good restaurant to taste Authentic Gujarati Thali.....

We don't think we can compare the food of Pakvan to any other gujarati serving restaurant. Have been to this place when it was no better than a place serving mess food in Mumbai. But now it is a place where you would take your friends, family and guest to gorge on gujarati thali. What I really like about here is the simplicity of food. One does not feel heavy after having a meal. Moreover it is very accessible being in the heart of the city, Paldi. Their other outlet is at Bodakdev, S.G,Highway, which also sees a lot of crowd. The food is just wonderful with good quality service and surroundings. It is priced decently. Our advice, "Don't misss it"
