Review Karma Cafe - Ahmedabad

This cafe is run by Navjivan trust. This trust foundation by Mahatma Gandhi is why each and every food item is prepared in puree ghee and in a natural process. In the evening you can take dinner outside the cafe in the natural atmosphere Staff is very polite, Cafe is very clean and sufficient parking facility, wheelchair access is available It's a good place for small group for the lunch or dinner

In the middle of city serving authentic gujarati food. Limited menu but satisfying your taste buds. Limited seating inside, if you are in group better to reserve in advance for lunch and dinner. Snacks are served in afternoon. Adjacent they have Khadi shopping and it's worth exploring at reasonable price.

Good experience. Food is worth trying. Recently just a month back, they changed the service providers and was privatised, post which it is good to see that the essence of Karma Cafe is maintained. They cook all its food there, and serve in Supari leaf plates, which can be later used as fertilizers. We tried the Thali there, and food was fresh, tasty. The Daal however legged behind. Ambiance is lovely, and on a given day with less heat, their outdoor sitting will wow you.

This place is really a treasure.. it is so hygienic, comfy and peaceful. Also the food is so delicious and it is healthier than any other places (satvik food) .. ok if you have read this do follow my insta ac @nagmaaaeatsss 😊❤️

A very good place for Satvik and Fresh Food. If you visit with friends and family, please wait for the Order because the staff is making very fresh food like Home. And I visited so many times and tried Thepla, Handwo, Fix Lunch, Unlimited Dinner and cold pressed Juice. Note:- This cafe is self service so you take your orders and put back your plate yourself.

If you are in Ahmedabad you should not miss this place it's very tiny cafe but the food is too good and prices are also very affordable and yah the staff is very friendly they are there to welcome you with a big smile ambience is also nice and they have both indoor and outdoor sitting altogether good place to hangout with your family or friends.

This place is for soul. Amazing place with the amazing positive, peaceful and spiritual vibes. Navjivan Trust is managing this place and they believe in Gandhi Theory. And you find all over Gandhi thought process. They provide Gandhi Thali on Friday Saturday and Sunday evening. Food is fantastic and amazing. Pure food with pure things. Very hygiene and very tasty. Place is decent. Seting arrangement is very proper. You have to take token for food. And it's a self service process. Simple menu but tasty. Indoor and outdoor seating arrangement is available. They use pure and fresh things to make food and you will feel that in taste also. Balanced taste, no more spicy no more sweet. Everything was very accurate and proper. It's a place of peace in this noisy city culture. I loved this place. I will visit again

We visited karma cafe for the first time and it managed to meet our expectations in all aspects. You feel peace in the atmosphere of the whole location. Seating is indoor and outdoor which was comfortable. Everything is self service here. We had tea, suki bhel and paneer sandwich here. All things were freshly made and tasted so good. Definitely would love to visit it again.

If I have to describe a little thing about this place is positivity, hospitality, serenity, educational thoughts via surroundings of many different type of beliefs in shape aligned with karma. Such a spiritual atmosphere it was brought here. I was always keen to visit this place and also a foodie digs or smells the aroma of some Nutritious meal so basically I had to try their gandhi thali costing 200/- Unlimited [Everything which is included in menu] Changes every weekend Saturday and Sunday on evenings. Totally Satvik food as I had there it was so much soothingly delightful. It was properly balanced and accurately significant. As this place is popular amongst the enthusiastic people who want peace from this urbanised rush in view of that the food here is being made for 125 peoples, timings are 7-9 PM, First Come first serve basis. One must obtain tokens from counter for food. If you're going to take away then inform them via WhatsApp. So far as ambiance is concerned it is very well organised they have arranged some musical event every weekend there was very exceptional experience to my visit aswell. Seating arrangements is quite decent indoors and outdoors, parking is huge and so far as other activities are concerned there are khadi stores, book shelf containing books is also placed if you want to read, Satya art gallery is there too.

Love this place. Food is too nice. Not much spicy. satvik food. Staff is also good. They are providing food on weekend only. Only for approx 120 people. First come first serve bases. 200Rs per person. Time 7Pm to 9Pm. You can also enjoy reading books. You can also purchase cotton clothes from there. Nice gallery of Gandhiji. Peaceful place. Superb serene place to visit, it's a cafe by navjivan trust. Unlimited thali is served with very good home made like food and a lot of variety. Music is there which is esp. Gandhian based philosophical thoughts very melodious voice and musical instruments. Seating outdoor and indoor both is available. Timings are strict and no. of thalis are limited costing is very nominal. Enough seating space. Even if one doesn't want to eat one can just visit that place. Place is full with Gandhian vibe.

This place serves satvik delicious and hygiene food. One of the place. A hidden gem amidst nature. You can read historical books too. They have farali special menu too. On every Saturday and Sunday this place serves unlimited Gujarati thali. A highly recommended place.

Nowadays my favorite place to be relax after office work, visit this place once in a week. So nice and silent place where u feel free and happy. Very good place for gossip and lovely gujarati food and tea.

Average to bad food. The dinner is good and the tea is excellent but snacks are subpar. They let you sit here long after you're done, which is nice, but don't even allow us to charge our laptops. Self-service includes finding out how ordering works out on your own, cleaning the table once the person before us has left. No translations for non-gujaratis.<br/><br/>Not very impressed... there are better places to sit at and do your work, if that's what you're looking for, in Ahmedabad. As a food/cafe experience, it's a one-time thing, and would purely recommend the tea or the dinner (fri/sat/sun).

I have never tried the cafe menu but i regularly visit this place for dinner which they server on Friday Saturday and Sunday only they have different meal menu for everyday. We had heard a lot about this cafe, about the peaceful, warm ambience. So we visited it during our trip in Ahmedabad.<br/>They were celebrating 5yr anniversary, so didn't charge anyone for their orders.<br/>The ambience is peaceful, quiet and filled with warmth. Since it was a weekday, we couldn't try the Gandhi Thali (it's quite popular)<br/>We had Masala Chai, biscuits and khakhra. Chai was perfect. They also have a exhibit of photos from and around 1930.<br/>This cafe is located inside the Navjeevan Press, which was started by Gandhiji during his fight for freedom. U can see the typewriter, printing machine on display, and a lot of memorable pictures from that era.<br/>It's an experience everyone should have. Highly Recommended.<br/>U can leave whatever amount u want in their donation box.

We went there for khichadi festival and it was fantastic. Two types of khichadi and two types of kadhi were there with methi gatta sabji and sweet. Food was excellent.

The place is a nice hangout spot and has lovely interiors. Even the outdoor seating is quite something on a breezy evening given all the trees that surround the place. But that's about it. The place has got ambience and has comfy seating so if that's what you're looking for, this is the place for you. <br/><br/>I get it they don't charge much for the food so commenting on that doesn't make much sense. The food generally lacks flavour and is hardly consistent. The thali however is good, they have that on the weekends. But the daily snacks can be a hit or a miss depending on the cook. The tea there is usually good so that is enough for most people but the cold drinks, say sometging as simple as the nimbu pani can be a let down. <br/><br/>Nevertheless, the place is a must visit and after your 1st visit, you can decide if you'd want to hang out there often or if it was just a one time thing. :)

You can donate whatever you like in the drop box kept near the entry gate.<br/><br/>They served satvik and healthy Gujarati Full dish dinner aka "Gandhi Thali" only on Fri, Sat and Sun evening to only 125 persons on first come first serve basis.<br/><br/>The atmosphere of the cafe is also very peaceful.

Yes, Karma will get back to you what u are doing. In 40rs ,serving third class pova in very small plate & bad taste. If anyone go to local Lori or stall , people can eat quality pova with good service & great taste only at 15 to 20rs. Giving 1 star because of poor quality, no quantity, presentation was bad. Also pathetic service, asking customer to clean the tables , cant hire few more employees ? Recommending everyone not to visit this cafe.

Gandhi thali at the Karma cafe. A simple minimalistic place at Navjivan trust following the philosophy and ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. The thali is available on weekends and in limited numbers. The food is gujrati and very rustic yet tastes good. You are surrounded by books and the concept is you can pay whatever amount you wish. The museum with art displayed on Gandhi should not be missed. This is one of the best place for me to hang out. They have a small library inside the cafe . The variety of sitting arrangement allows big group and small 2 people to accommodate easily. They have quite small menu but their tea is one of the best thing that ever happened to me. If you end up there in the middle of the day , please try their tea. Friday - Saturday- Sunday they serve delicious dinner (Gujarati food) which is truly amazing. Spend some time to donate as well. They are not charging for anything.

Karma Cafe is a very beautiful place to be at. Going from the ashram road in a lane beside Gujarat Vidhyapith, at the end you arrive at the Navjeevan press museum, where lies this cafe. <br/><br/>Away from the hustle and bustle of crowded Ahmedabad, as soon as you reach this place, a feeling of calm and peacefulness strikes you. The open seating area, with elegant furniture is a great place to be in a group or alone as well. <br/><br/>Me along with a group of three friends, went there searching for a new and different place, which we found eventually in Karma cafe. We ordered khichu along with khakhra, and limbu phudina sharbat, extremely hygienic and tasty food. Place n food ten on ten. Surely recommended!

It's a Self Service and Pay as you Like Cafe. There are few items on the menu - mostly snacks and beverages. Few may like the taste, few may not considering that dishes are Gujarati. I had ordered Masala Chai and Cheese Bhakri Pizza. It also has an attached ethnic clothes shop.

Went there with my Nanu and had a really nice time surfing through the books published by Navjivan trust and other historically relevant books. Went there again and couldn't help but spend the entire day there reading Gandhi. <br/>It's a very unique and a different cafe. A must visit for Gandhians :)

A serene, modern yet equally traditional in its approach and a welcoming place. You can spend hours together, reading a book, working on your laptop or even chatting with your friend. The menu is pure Gujarati with thepla, handa and juices ok amla and fudina. I loved the concept of Gandhi thaali. Also the fact that it does not force anyone to pay but requests them to put whatever they wish to, in a box, is itself a humble approach. <br/>Loved the place. And the exhibition gallery + the melody of Ashram Bhajnavali in the background just adds to the serenity of the place.

Okay so it was sudden plan to meet a friend and we chose this cafe. I must say its one of the best cafes in ahmedabad. Its a very pleasant nd peaceful place. It takes us to a beautiful journey of Mahatma Gandhi. Apart from al these food is superbly awesome. One must try the AMLA JUICE over here.<br/>P.S- An introvert must try dis cafe :)

From name you could get little bit idea.place was so peaceful. If you want to enjoy simple and healthy gujarati food like bhakhri,thepla,mix shak,khichadi of unpolished rice,ghee and kadhi made from cow milk,organic gol,shev tameta nu shak etc. Then visit it once in a life Thanks a lot Mr. Upadhyay for this concept. Please visit art gallery ,NAVJEEVAN press and ethnic shop in this building.

You may tend to think what makes me give this cafe a 4.5. Bt genuinely you would love it if and only if you like basic gujarati food i.e bhakri, thepla, bataka nu shak, sev tameta nu shaak, khichdi, kadhi, organic gud, salad, papad ane lasan ni chatni. Yes that was the menu and it was super super tasty... Simplicity at its best... Must try and if you are fond if Gandhi literature its like a cherry in top....

A Place full of 'Gandhian Vibes'. <br/><br/>Place & Ambiance is good but don't go for their 'Satvik Dinner'. We had to leave it & then went to other restaurant.

Karma cafe is a hidden gem. It is the place to go for a lonely afternoon read with one of the best masala chai ahmedabad has to offer.<br/><br/>They do "gandhi thali" over weekend. If you are into eating healthy and looking for something very close to home cooked food, this is THE place. <br/><br/>What I like? Space, energy of the place and simplicity.<br/><br/>What I dislike? Limited options as far as food is concerned. <br/><br/>But for me limited food options are well compensated by volumes of books they have for everyone to read!

There is a small party and the place is karma cafe(this is what we were informed )<br/>We were also told to wear kurta pajama..<br/>Okk...We reached there and I was shocked..What kind of cafe is this!? What do they serve? etc.....<br/>I reached at 7:30pm and I left that place at 11pm<br/>The place was very peaceful..<br/>This is based on Gandhivadi theme..<br/>They serve very testy and hygienic food.<br/>You can have lots of positive energy while leaving the cafe..<br/>There isn't a bill system whatever amount of noney you want you can pay..<br/>There is a collection of paintings of Gandhiji and books too..<br/>Lots of foreigners visit this place then why can't we!!<br/><br/>
