Review Sankalp Restaurant - Ahmedabad

Its a South Indian restaurant. But the taste might be different. Food is really good. Bit expensive. You may face difficult for finding the restaurant since it's on the 3 Rd floor of one complex. Service is good.

With so much debris around, not easily accessible, still manage reaching the restaurant nestled in a corner.... . inviting place. Water served in brass tumblers in the first few minutes, subsequently three chutneys and gun powder served in cute brass containers...................rising expectations. Right air conditioning, well organised seating, mild Hindu devotionals and a smiling server.....................soaring expectations. Rasam idly with generous rasam, medu vada. Dosa and Uthappam must try. Sambar and rasam served in a Alauddin magic lamp type saucer and washing off with filter coffee.. The server was serving as if he read each ones mind and expectations. When the bill arrives with paan you don't check the bill twice....leave a generous tip. Because Heart is full....Stomach over full

Amazing taste of South Indian food. Mysore masala dosa was so yummy, the chutneys are just like we do at our homes in South India. Rava Dosa was crispy and yummy 👌. One must surely try if they are a South Indian food Being New to Ahmedabad we drive around to find a good place to eat. I was more particular to have have a South Indian food. After a long search & rejecting 5 to 6 places we landed up at Sankalp. The exterior of the Resturant isn't appealing but we we entered the Resturant we found it to be very well designed, perfect indoor temperature meeting upto international standards, extremely polite & humble Manager, waiters , captain.... Food was excellent and authentic South Indian in taste ... Had to most wonderful experience and came to know that they have branches not only all across India but World too..... Very tasty and delicious food. Quality food, quick service, resonable pricing. Idli, wada, Uttapam, so many variety of Dhosa, and with variety of chutneys make the taste so unique and awesome. Good place to dine in.

One of the best South Indian restaurant in Ahmedabad. Varieties of dosa, uttapam, idli, etc served here. Very good taste. Nice and well behaved staff. It had so many branches all over India and abroad.

Good food. Clean and peaceful atmosphere. Great service and staff attitude. Signage outside the complex should be at eye level and not on rooftop. Difficult to locate even if u r standing at the entrance of the complex. Do something about this. Overall good experience. Reasonable prices, good portions.

Must try Maysoor Masala Dosa. Food was awesome, it was very clean and friendly staff. They even have indoor and outdoor options, they have space for small functions and gatherings good for 50-70 people. Took pics of masala Bundi and Dahi Bundi but dosa and uttapam were so good that I forgot to take pictures. Must visit for authentic south Indian food with family (average 200-400₹ per person)

I had visited sanklap prahaladnagar branch today. I was served unhealthy food which has been never served to me or any one. restaurant person told me that there is no complain book. This is the best place to have authentic south indian cuisine in Ahmedabad. Even though I have been visiting this place for years, I still prefer Mysore Chatpata Masala Dosa as I loge spicy food. The paan served with the bill is also another speciality here.

Sankalp is a big name.<br/><br/>We ordered a number of things-<br/><br/>Masala boondi- was not tasty like before, was bland and soggy<br/><br/>Rasam wada- excessively spicy and full of coriander leaves that were not chopped properly and the bowl that served it was not appropriate as all the rasam was overflowing from it making ot very unpleasant<br/><br/>Rava Masala Dosa- was good and tasted nice.<br/><br/>Mysore masala- over spicy and the chutney used in it was not pleasant tasting<br/><br/>Strawberry milkshake- was made from ice cream, very cold, over sweet<br/><br/>Also the AC did not work properly and it got to stuffy<br/><br/>Overall, a big name with deteriorating quality.

I have been here several times.. Boondi chat and masala papad is good... I love idli takatak or masala idli.... It's really yummy... Cheese Spring dosa is very cheesy and very heavy... It's satisfies tummy but not heart... DIL MAANGE MORE....

Sankalp. Providing south indian items since a long. Famous for Dosas and different chutneys. Now a days there are so many famous restaurants who serves Quality Dosas with unique taste. For me its routine taste of Dosas. Best of all is their 3 dosa platter which i found best out of all. Love the red chutneys. They need to work on coconut chutney - no taste..  Cant say reasonable as per the food taste. Varsh ma ek var javay :)

This was the go to place for South Indian when we were kids and there weren't as many options that are there are right now.<br/><br/>Stepping into this place it looks like nothing has changed. The table tops, seating, everything is a major throwback to those days.<br/><br/>Coming to the food we had -<br/><br/>RASAM - A little thick compared to other places, lacked the punch of garlic and honestly didn't taste much different from their Sambar.<br/><br/>Masala Boondi - Needed more lemon and masala but once they did that for us it was good.<br/><br/>Rava ONION chilli - This was decent<br/><br/>Mysore Dosa - Really different masala compared to other places and it was really flavorful and good. Enjoyed.<br/><br/>Onion Dosa - Filled with Garlic chutney and topped with sautéed onions this too was delicious.<br/><br/>The portion sizes here as good as quite filling. The sambar was lacking a bit of the pinch of masalas but the chutneys were really good.<br/><br/>The service is good and quick and rates are reasonable. The interiors need a little refresh. Some fine tuning is needed too as cutlery on the table was dirty and had to be changed a couple times.<br/><br/>Rest overall a great experience in terms of food. Please Update the Latest Menu. Ambience is good but Sofa Siting not comfortable, rather chair sitting seems comfortable. Mention u prepare dosa in oil extra charges for butter preparation. Paneer dosa extremely spicy, as well as spring dosa too all items u must mention more details.

I often visit Sankalp but you must eat only authentic dosa. Don’t go for fancy dosa and don’t ever try “spring dosa” it’s worse. Otherwise best place for only authentic dosa.

Food is awesome. Pure veg food. Great Jain and Swaminarayan food. You can go and hangout with your family and friends. Deserts and grill are awesome options.

The taste of Sankalp is awesome. Just try any dish and you will have the best if South Indian possible. 5/5 in Food taste and Quality. Service is one area which needs improvement, the waiters have too many things to address and need to be reminded about refills for Sambhar and Chutney. Many a time the refill comes after dosa is almost over. Please improve this area.

I actually went to had Masala Boondi but ended up ordering Kara Mura Dosa, Indian Bhaji Dosa and Three Barrel Dosa. Masala Boondi and Indian Bhaji totally won my heart. <br/>Spicy crispy Boondi with diced onion, tomatoes and green chillies garnished with coriander is the must have. Special Indian Bhaji Dosa had delicious indian masaledar bhaji into the dosa was my personal favourite. The only thing which I didn’t like about Bhaji Dosa was the quantity. Before i could indulge its taste properly, it was over. Kara Mura Dosa was that one proper crispy dosa with some southindian dry powder onto it. Three barrel dosa was three in one dosas- Nilgiri dosa, Mysore Dosa and Plain Dosa, i didn’t enjoy eating this one. <br/>I am surely going to go very soon to have Indian Bhaji Dosa with Masala Boondi again.

I went here many times. Always liked it. Service good enough. What i love most in sankalp is varieties of chutneys. Crowded on weekends. Didnt like #achariidli. Other varieties of idlis i just love. Steam idli is real perfect.

A perfect place for South Indian food lovers. They have alot variety in dosa’s. Being it Paper Plain Dosa or Paneer Dosa the taste is delicious. They even have Idli and Vada which you should definitely try.

Sankalp didnt accepts orders and money was deducted....but not getting money from zomato also....this was a best trap of sankalp and zomato of making rupees of peoples wrongly.

Sankalp is very old and famous place for south indian cuisine. As soon as we enter, we didnt get much impressed as the furniture and other stuffs are too old. This place really needs a nice makeover. <br/>We ordered Idli Vaghar. It was good but quantity doesnt match the price. I am fan of spicy dosa and so i ordered Chettinad Spicy Dosa which was not atall spicy. Disappointed. The only think i loved was Sambhar. Its was yummy. Even the mocktails were worth a try.

Had food at Sankalp Palitana food was pathetic what use of opening branch all over world famous for South Indian food but quality was so bad had to leave all items uneaten very bad experience and being the only restaurant in palitana can’t go any were else don’t try rasam you will get dal to drink.

Good location . We went to the restaurant on a Saturday evening. They have very heavy chairs/furniture in the restaurant. We ordered idli and 3 dosas. For one paneer dosa I requested the order taker not to put anything spicy in that ; but when my paneer dosa was served , it was very spicy to eat. They were having some special beverages happy hours for the evening. I found this place to be lil overpriced.

I have to say they have a lot of variety of dosas, very interesting menu. The service is super prompt. However the problem lies in the taste. I ordered a LOT of stuff, from onion dosa to the chinese one.. to try the taste. I wasn't impressed at all. In fact I was pretty disappointed as they all tasted pretty much the same.

Visited Sankalp after a lot of recommendations from people. I ordered all their "popular" dishes looking at previous zomato reviews. This place felt like come-order-eat and leave, no ambience to let me have a good time. The food also was too salty for my taste. So even though the service was super quick.. I dont think id ever go back again.

Visited here with family and overall it was very nice experience. Ordered masala vegetable idli in starter and it was nice, with garlic curry. In dosas ordered mysore masala, golden crisp and rava masala dosas. All were good. Sambhar and all the chutneys were fresh and tasty. Lastly ordered kai kari biryani.It was best among all. A must try. Ambience is very good and service is very fast.

I visited your restaurant on 10/9/2017 .I was severed food in very bad utensils, it wst rusted in side the bowl in which sambhar was served . I called manager for the same but he didn't listen to me and not give proper answer.

This is the worst outlet... we went there for lunch... on a weekday... manager was so rude that after asking for water thrice... it arrived after 10-15 mins... while taking order he went somewhere twice... they need to understand what hospitality means...

Sankalp has never disappointed. Always a go-to for South Indian food. One thing that I always order when I'm eating at Sankalp's is their Cheesy crispy idli. They are off the charts! I tried the Dosa Platter this time-they were all just fine but that is because maybe I like my dosas the traditional way. The Cheese Chilly Uthappa lived up to the expectations.

A great food provider but excessively long waiting time prompted low score. It was Saturday evening and we reached at 8:45pm. We could get our table at 10:45pm. <br/>Dosa and Idli are best in taste. Masala boondi can be tried as starter. <br/>Food lovers can definitely wait for long hours....

Sankalp. Place where south indian food is amazing. Actually very authentic. Bit expensive. But you would love the taste. Ambience is okay. Very clean place inside.

Sankalp is good at south indian but try sizzling brownie at sankalp which will make you to remember only that and forget their sambhar & chutney ...Over the period, samabhar has diluted a bit but still sankalp is one of the best south indian joint ...

Sankalp has always been the best south indian restaurant for me in Ahemadabad. It is the only place in ahemdabad where the sambhar is not sweet and is exactly upto the original taste of the south indian Sambhar. The dhosa and uttappam is nice and vada and idli are as great as the formers. Strongly suggested 👍🏻 Have a great meal 🥘

from the many branches of sankalp, i  personally like this one for its location. This place is heaven for south indian food lovers. I am a fan of their simple paper dosa, crispy and uniform.  Masala boondi is a must have as starter. Their Fried idli is best in town. Their sambar, coconut chutney and  tomato chutney are complementing the experience.

delicious dosa platter, classy service and quality food. We ordered Keerai cheese garlic dosa, dosa platter, three barrel dosa and all my friends are to happy their taste and services.

Best South Indian in Ahmedabad! Well except for a secret street food shop! So I would give it a 4. The medu vadas are just made perfectly and I hope I'll try the 4 feet long dosa soon!

A really old place always full but has really good South Indian menu and the food tastes really good. If you're going to eat out with the family this is he place to be.

Its the authentic south indian restaurant one needs if in the mood to have a supper for south indian food. Great ambience, management quit well and the food is fab. If visiting once dont forget to have a Brownie...😍

Best place to eat dosas.. Even though it is little expensive, the quality and quantum of food served takes care of such price.. Wanna visit it again and again.

I had received raving reviews about this place that its a must visit for those who are in love with South Indian cuisine. It was an utter disappointment. <br/><br/>First off the waitstaff was rude and the service was shabby. Our waitstaff couldn't pour a glass of water and had spilled it on the table which is acceptable, mistakes happen. But instead of wiping the table, he placed the plates on it. On top of it, they were hurrying us up to eat soon. I hope the management has a check on their waitstaff and consider how they treat the customers before employing them. The service was highly disorganised and a complete turn off. <br/><br/>The only dish worth eating was Masala Boondi. Masala Vegetable Idly and the Sankalp 4 Feet Long Dosa though crispy, both of which were a disaster since they lacked taste. Idly was not soft and fluffy as it should have been and the sambar was just horrible. The food was not hot and it makes a big difference as far as the taste and quality goes.<br/><br/>I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who has eaten authentic South Indian food in the the southern states. The food is not worth the money spent in this restaurant. Also, its quite pricey for the quantity they offer. Seems like the only objective of the restaurant is minting money.

Ambience is good. Service is good. Crowded and a bit noisy so not a place for personal talk/date. Horrendous Experience! I had been a huge fan of Sanklap, along with my family all these years! <br/>But Sankalp SG Highway branch, near Rajpath club, was an utter disappointment today.<br/><br/>We reached Sankalp at 12:45 Pm  Saturday, and there was no one in the restaurant. We were glad that we would be served fast due to no rush, during lunchtime. Our high hopes came crashing down due to what followed--<br/>1) We ordered regular water (not mineral). The guy got us TAP Water! Not even usual RO water that we all use in Ahmedabad! We understood in a sip that it wasnt RO, and asked him to get RO water. Which the waiter maintained that it WAS RO water only. Later manager came and admitted that the RO machine wasnt working and got us mineral water bottle as complimentary. We thought it was just a miss and decided to order our food.<br/>2) The staff was too busy chatting in the remote corner of the restaurant. Never bothered to take order inspite of indicating. Then a waiter finally came to take order.<br/>3) When we started eating food, I noticed some hair like thing in the Sambhar- It happened to be a DEAD COCKROACH!!  (see pic). That was disgusting and we left the food half way . <br/>4) We asked for finger bowl, which we used to always get in any other Sankalp branches. And the waiter asked us to go washroom! Such a superb service!?!<br/>I complained all this to the manager sitting at the reception, and all he did was smile and said SORRY!<br/>5) We left the restaurant with a pukey feeling, and the waiter came running after us, giving us a Bill of Rs. 534, that too with service tax (for what service??)!!<br/>I shouted at him and he said he discounted Rs. 200 for cockroach. We paid Rs 534 with a 'sankalp' to never return to Sankalp and determined to write this horrible experience as a review, so that others dont have to pay for a COCKROACH SAMBHAR! :-o

Have visit many outlet in sankalp and i enjoyed every time this place very cool and food is hot too like the south indian dishes more like dosa uttapam and much others visit again and again

Worst experience! <br/><br/>They were not available for even to take the order and to pour the water in the glass. <br/> <br/>I prefer next time another Sankalp than this one.
