Review Sankalp Restaurant - Ahmedabad

Yashika Jain
Authentic south indian food with the best quality. Now they have started serving in banana leaf which enhances the look of dosa. We tried new dosa this time; smoky dosa rolls and jaal dosa. Both were very heavy but tasty too at the same time. Otherwise Mysore plain dosa, onion rava dosa and golden crisp dosa are my all time, every time favourite things to opt for.
Ashvin Vora
Perfect place for south indian food. Must try is the Kesary after dinner.
Vaishali Puri
Amazing food and amazing sitting ambience of the place. Ordered their newly launched spooky dosa and must say what a vegetable filling it had , for the first time ate beetroot in dosa (worth a try) and their chapati Kurma. Also tried the Tea which was also strong and full of flavours
Jyo
Nice south indian touch and ambience. Food is good and there are variety of chutneys to taste. Prefer dosa to eat here. Beverages are good too.
Hemang Rindani
Been one of the very first Sankalps of the town, this is a small place as compared to others but has the same taste as it has since years now. I felt prices were okeyish as well, not too pocket heavy for the brand it is. Their variety of Chutneys are their usps.
Shikha Shah
The person who was serving was very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. The taste of dosa was tasty . I ordered paneer dosa which was awesome. Sambhar was very nice
manisha awtani
It’s the oldest South Indian restaurant that I have known since childhood and it’s the best. Ranging from food quality to taste to the service of the staff, everything is perfect. This is one place where you wish to go again and again. One can go to this place for any meal. The filter coffee they serve is the best in town.

I guess it is perfect spot for south Indian food lover, taste remains same as it was few years ago. To be honest it was quite costly and it provides little bit low quantity. Quality wise prices is worth but quantity wise it's not.
Purvi Bochiya
Very nice place nd very good nd hygienic food...here we tried 3 in 1 dosa,1 masala dosa,1 nilgiri dosa,1 dish idli nd uttapam.... staff are also good..😇
Mrigank Jain

Real taste of dosa. One can enjoy different varieties of dosa Bisibele bath was average
Pranav Panat
It is one of the oldest Sankalp restaurant in Ahmedabad. Serves authentic south indian dishes and other new varieties of dosa's. Ambiance is okayish and staff is cooperative and well mannered. It is quite and cozy place and is easily accessible from main ashram road.
ketan pandya
Fresh and tasty south Indian dishes. Probably Sankalp chain of resturants are best in this business category. Most consumers would wish that the Prices could have been lower...
Mehul Furia
Best place for South Indian food hands down. Service is great too.

If you are looking for good south indian good. Then should visit sankalp.
Pris
My go to for South Indian food, this place has one of the best south Indian food and has been in the hotel industry since a long time. They have rush on daily basis, they have maintained the quality of their dishes and kept up with proper management and services.
Parth Shah
Nice food and same taste over the years. We tried Crispy Chees Idli and one of the most favourite starter over the years 'Boondi Masala'. 5/5 for both the items. We ordered Double Roast Onion Utappam and Dosa platter. Dosa platter contained 3 types of Dosas like Bhaji Dosa, Paneer Dosa and Spring Dosa. Food is amazing even on Sundays. Ambience is bit congested. Service was bot to the point as it was crowded. Good to visit for south indian cuisine.
_the_hungry_birds
South indian is love and sankalp is forever bae. Fan of their sambhar and chutneys and after zomato gold sankalp is my first choice for southindian. Just one argue - if they manage to increase their plate sizes. .

SABJI ND DOSA NOT HOT ND WARM ... ALSO TASTE IS NOT GOOD..MASALA BUNDI QUNTITY IS VERY LESS ND TASTE NOT GOOD...I M NOT HAPPY FOR SANKALP FOOD ASHRAM ROAD ....
Punit Tulsiyan
Good food good service will visit again with my family and freinds. Little small in the size of restaurant and congested in weekends. Orders are on time.
Aakanksha Parashar
the food was not up to the mark...only 1 type of chutney was sent...and whatever was sent that was also ok ok.. expected better from sankalp..
Sunny
Shameless people. They are not giving good quality food at good prices. They are giving plain dosa with the option of customization.

Charging extra for what *should* be in dosa. Avoid!
Vasu Marvaniya

Loved it. Worthy. Wheneva you want to eat south indian, Sankalp is the first name which comes in our mind. Koora moora dhosa is really great. Cheeze corn dhosa are yummmm.. Just go for it.
Hemil Shah
Good service and nice food quality. Good location also. Good staff and good infrastructure also. We had gone their will with my family. Nice place.
Vaibhav Shah
Was rejected for Zomato gold as they have discontinued the partnership. Absolutely ridiculous of Zomato and restaurant for not delisting the same from the Gold options.
Sunil
Very rude staff with zero commitment on delivery! Took 30 mins to get pineapple juice out of the kitchen!

Willing Slapped mysole sada dosa instead of sada dosa which was ordered.
Vicky Dodiya
If you want to try some good south indian food, and can't decide where to go this is your place, in idli you should try vegie idli , and Sezwan dosa and cheese corn uttapam.
Paras Patel
Place was nice. Staff was good. Not too much specious but definitely food will compensate it.
And 🌟 of the menu. The hot sizzling brownie took my heart.
Nikita Dudani
I have been here several times. My recent visit was pleasant. I had tried Masala Idli, Spring Dosa, Cheese Madurai Sandwich Uthappa, Rava Dosa, and Panchvartan Dosa. The thing I liked about it was that Dosa's were really good and I was able to distinguish the difference because every flavors were separate and filled. The consistency of Dosa's were the same however the quality has little been changed.
Roma Shah
Good food, must try masala bondi, friendly staff and nice ambience. Food ordered get served in quick time and you do not have to wait much. Location was easy to find.
Vismit Gajjar
Difficult to find location but nice place for south indian dishes lover....nice ambiance....had dosa platter which was good in taste....very good and polite response by manager and waiters....quick and fast service....overall nice place for corporate dining....

Ambiance: 4/5
Quality of food: 4/5
Service: 4.5/5
Palak Shah
Good taste and good quality.
Staff is generous.

Authentic taste of South Indian food.
Privileged with Zomato Gold.

Tried : Chettinad Dosa
Different type of Dosa if you like vegetable stuffing instead of potatoes.

Chutneys are all time favorite 😊
Amita Tandel
amazing and love it!!
Ketan Patel
This branch maintains all goods of Sankalp. The only thing doesnt go well here is the size and shape of the restaurant. Feels tiny. And then there are few tables down couple of steps, almost 2-3 feet deep below entry level.
Chandanverma8091
good service
Mahaveer Singhal
Sudden plan so went to this all time favorite place. Good crowd if wish to go with family. Quite place so you can enjoy ur conversations on the table. Good staff. And certainly good food too.
Manthan Patel
One of the authentic South Indian cuisine available almost in every corner of india... The taste and quality and hygien is never an issue in sankalp.. Tried many south Indian in Ahmedbad but consistency of sankalp takes it to another level. One of its kind in terms of chatni, the way they serve you sambhar and specially the tissue holder, which is same since years..

Mah favorite is paper plain.. It's too Yum and cripsy always....
AJ
Amazing place & still the best South Indian restaurant of Ahmedabad. Same taste since years. Rates are getting higher so stopped frequent visits but if wanna taste best South Indian in Ahmedabad then Sankalp is best.
Aneri Shah
Sankalp has been the signature South Indian restaurant in Ahmedabad for years. Masala idli (which is a sort of common dish) had a different avatar here. The taste was just perfect. Mysore chatpatta Masala dosa, doing justice to the name given was truly chatpatta and we tried the sandwich Madurai uttapam. The filling was not the normal potato filling we have but mix vegetable sabzi with a tinge of coconut. Chutneys served here make you want to visit again. Their signature Paan in the end is no less. Definitely recommended!
Maunish Shah
Food is good. But size of dinner plate is very small to accommodate dosa. There is no space to keep chatni also. This feedback should reach management.
Harsh Joshi
Lovely place to be for a good quality southindian food. And above all the the chocolade brownie was really awesome! I would recommend you to here with even thinking!
Shaima
Just tried this beautiful South Indian restaurant. Taste of each and every thing was at its best. We ordered fried idli, dosa platter, plain dosa and military dosa. All tasted delicious. The pan at the end was happy ending at the end. Definitely going to visit again. Overall very good place ♥️Hetan Thakkar

This is the most quaint restaurant of this franchisee. Had been around for a long time. Food can never be an issue at Sankalp. If you have the food at one franchisee it's going to be the same everywhere else. This one is special due to lot many family get togethers that took place here over the years. Just the quiet little restaurant and long soulful chatter with family and the restaurant people are never in a hurry to throw you out!!

Read one sankalp review and the food review is bound to be the same for the others. No parking trouble as well.

Whenever i have food at Sankalp though I will be stuffed to the brim and might puke I'll still have their droolworthy kesari!!

Their 3 barrel dose, medu vada, masala dosa are my usual items.
Sanket Khatri
Best south indian restaurant in ahemdabad. I have been there for the 1st time and first time I've tasted such gr8 south indian dishes.
Must try shezwan, nd therie special 4 ft dossa. Haven't clicked that.
Niyam Vora
Awesome Food.. Very Good Quality Of Dhosa As well as Sambhar, One of the Oldest or Probably the Oldest sankalp among all. Good Service. Tomato Soup was Also Excellent.
Prajapatisaurabh1010
Superb.. If u want to eat south Indian then don't forget to go in Sankalp resto ...good ambience. Try its cheese dosa is the delicious . Food is very tasty. And in deserts don't forget to eat sizzling Browne with ice-cream its delicious.. 👍👍👌👌
Divya Sawnani
This has always been my favourite place when I wanted to have comfort food. The dosas are delicious and it definitely has the best sizzling brownies
Susan Cheryl Noronha
So this was the only place open at 10 am for breakfast! Swati Snacks, Choice etc were all closed! Get your act together Ahmedabad! Breakfast starts at 7 am. Thank you sankalp for being open!
So the place itself is very average, I’ve had much better South Indian snacks. The military dosa was not as crispy as it promised. The rava dosa however was super crisp and quite tasty. The ginger tea wasn’t gingery enough!
All in all not a bad place. At least it was open and my stomach is full 😁
Ishan Chauhan
Well it has world record of world’s lengthiest Dosa. This restaurant specializes in South Indian food. They have succeeded to maintain good quality food since so long.
Aratiben Vasava
Yesterday i visited Sankalp for south Indian food and i must say they are doing a great job and serving the best south Indian food in town as of now. Good work one should visit for sure.
Lakshman Iyer
Excellent service
Mandar Mohe
Authentic south Indian food. We had schezwaun dosa, masala dosa, rava dosa and hara bhara kabaab as the appetizer. All food was tasty. The service was great as well. Also it was the only restaurant in the area which was open past 3 p.m. for lunch. The paan at the end was also very tasty and served as a very good dessert. All the chutneys were really authentic and tasty.

i have visited with my office friend, there is promotional offer going on 5% discount on final bill we so order to new varition of items like of test & loving to visit,
Who can forget the hot steaming idlis & vadas served nicely on a sunday morning with filter coffee? Just try the dosas & dahi vadas during Lunch to have a complete southern experience in Gujarat

Keep it up

I ordered medu vada, steamed idli and sevai upma. This also includes items from another one of my visits: South Indian Executive Fixed Lunch Thali.

I love this place for South Indian food more than any other outlet in Ahmedabad.

Medu vada and steamed idli are a common thing majorly all of us have tried I think.

This sevai upma is too good. I tried it a couple of weeks back and ever since I make sure I order this whenever I visit. I am so glad I tried it, it is really deliciously!

It has a hint of coconut that gives it a little sweet flavour. I save this one for the end, it is my best discovery at this chain resto.

However, the thali was nothing too great, the only best part was the kesary South Indian suji halwa.

The tomato soup was sweet and not at all how it should be, can't complain though as their forte is South Indian cuisine.

The appalam was yummy and I ordered another plate to go with the meal.

The accomplishments they offer in the form of chutneys just takes your experience to another level altogether. All of the variants are extremely mouth watering.

The vegetable dishes included in the platter were typical of South Indian and not something I relished, sadly.

Safer option would be to stick to the dishes we can understand.

(10 pics)

I have ordered from sankalp to my workplace
Atleast u guys shud provide spoon with ur delivery
And today I ordered upma m sambhar complimentory but d box in vich u delivered was quarter filled.quantity was ok but try to understand that we don't have any crockery or utensils available at our work place. Food s quality is gud but these things making me not to order from sankalp in future.
Varun Chheda
The place serves good range of south indian food...it is the oldest Sankalp restaurant in ahmedabad..my last visit is good and they serve varities of chutneys is good but is too overpriced compared to other southindian restaurants in ahmedabad.
Siddhi Gupta
Best place to satisfy your craving for South Indian food. Ambience is really nice, staff was really courteous and cooperative. I tried their new arrival, Hara Bhara kebab, which was worth its price. It was really tasty, moist and flavourful. I really liked the cutlery they used and bottles in which they served Water.
Dr.Rasika
A satisfying south indian meal..
Variety of chutneys is the only difference from other udipi restaurants.. paper dosa , rawa dosa , mysore masala all were ok .. but the factors adding up to the taste are chutneys, excess oil, unlimited hot but watery sambar ..
This all would have great at lower prices.. paying 200 for any dosa / uttappa and that too adding up money for masala ( potato sabji ) is too much i feel..
Bisibili rice we tried was again a mix of spices, few vegetables but dal (main nutritious ingredient of this dish was missing) ..
Will i go back? Kind of doubtful..
Very bad packing
Rice was packed in cardboard without aluminium foil or without any container
Very disappointed with the packing
The rice was coming out of the box

Sankalp located at Ashram road near sales India, is one of the old joints, I keep visiting when in Ahmedabad. The last time I visited, the food ordered tasted OK and service is average. The variety of chutneys they serve is good. But, is certainly overpriced.
Ketki
The place serves good range of south indian food! The taste is good & variety of chutney is great..also unlimited! Jain option was very nice too! The only complain I have is for the restaurents manager - HE HAS NO MANNERS while talking to any person and he needs a training on how to respect a customer! And he does not know that a credit cards limit cant be over when the transaction fails!!! The staff was really helpful for that matter :-)
Karnasankalp
Had some of the best South Indian food in Ahmedabad at this chain. What I liked most about the food was the variety in chutneys that they serve. Their idlys are definitely some of the best I have had in restaurants and add to that their four feet long dosa and it's definitely a meal worth your money!
Vyom Vasavada
Order the 4 feet long dosa if you are with in group of 4-5 people. Totally worth the price. Dosa platter serves you 3 varieties of dosas, which is pretty tempting. Sankalp Ashram Road is the oldest outlet of Sankalp. Have been visiting this place since childhood. It is the most riveting experience. Chutneys of Sankalp are something I can never get over with. Absolutely exclusive. Sambar and chutney refills are free of charge and you can never get enough of it. You'd always want more. Sankalp offers the most authentic South Indian taste. They hold Limca Book world record of the longest dosa ever made.
Utsav Shah
"One of the oldest outlet". Visited so many time. I love sambhar & chutneys in Sankalp. Service is average. Last but not least pan in mukhwas is always delightful ..!!
Ruma
A place to visit if you want to have some delicious South Indian dishes. Nice ambience, great hospitality of the staffs and the foods were really awesome. Timely delivery of order wthin 5-10mins. Ordered chettinad rice cake, cheese corn dosa and paneer dosa. Those were too good with tasty sambar which can be refilled unlimited. Recommend to taste chettinad rice cake, really awesome. Worth your money and time.
Parthlochan Bayanwala
Biggest advantage of going to Sankalp is their large varieties of South Indian dishes....

Their spring dosa is very good....

Problem lies with the Oil or butter.... If even we request dosa with less oil but we will get a full oily dosa....

They are obsessed with oil & butter.

Service & ambience is very average. Need to improve their service.
Manish Gupta
amazing test and I can't compare this restaurant with any other restaurants when I talk about South Indian food... all 5 chatni test is great.... service is too fast... staff member are also very helpful
Vatsal Parikh
Today I visited sankalp..after a long time....the prices r skyrocketing....I ordered.. These corn dosa....which was ossom in taste, schevian dosa....not so good....in fact was also not proper, not worthy according price...bhaji dosa...the taste was good but still the main problem... It has become really costly.now a days as usual sambhar & 5 chutynes r always awesome.. Nice ambience & good service s.
Yogendra Singhh
The Delivery amazed me! It was far before time, well dressed and accompanied with pickles and number of other things worth trying including pan. To be very honest, i observed a great respect from restaurant to users even if you are ordering just sambhar rice. Kuddos guys. Keep it well.

About:

I happened to check in at Sankalp only because of the fact that I love South Indian food.. Particularly, Dosas and Idli..
After a heavy afternoon meal, I thought this would be the best place to enjoy a quiet and light meal.
Started with Idli Wada. The wadas were freshly fried, hot and crispy. The reason I say freshly fried is because you normally get "re fried" wadas during dinner. I think, since they specialise in just south indian food, they obviously wouldn't compromise.
Then wanted to try a Palak Cheese Dosa.. Was nice and filling cause it was loaded with cheese and some Palak paste. Something I have never eaten. I quite liked it to be honest cause I was skeptical when he said it has some Palak paste.
Next came Fresh Fruit Juice - Sweet Lime... I think it was the best way to end my meal.
The service is excellent and hardly a moment when you have to call to get their attention. They are on their toes.
Quite impressed with the place so I'll leave it with a rating of 4.5

Don't forget, they serve sweet pan too. Was good.

Recommendations:

-Idli Wada
-Palak Dosa
-Any fresh fruit juice.

Ratings:

Food : 4. 5/ 5
Service : 4.5/ 5
Ambience : 4 / 5
Value for money : 4 / 5

Would I visit this place again?

I would with my family and kids.
Abdul Basit Malik
I've been to various Sankalp outlets in Ahmedabad and this was no different.
The staff members are good.
The place was clean and tidy.
Just that, even though I went on a Tuesday and there were hardly 4 tables occupied, the food took a little longer to be served.
Which isn't an issue because the quality and taste was amazing.
Their Pinacolada, 5 variety Uttapam and masala idli are a must try!

Ambiance- 4/5
Staff- 4.5/5
Food- 4.5/5
Pratik Tanna
I had opted for home delivery so the rating is for the items that I had ordered. I havnt been to this place in person. Please for god sake do not order GINGER TEA as the taste and the quantity was very bad as per the price tag of Rs 75/-

Indian bhaji dhosa was good.
P Raj
Best in south Indian dishes in Ahmedabad.Outlet is a little hard to find if u r knew to this area.Located in a small lane off ashram road.Food and ambience is good. You can expect the same taste on your every visit here.
Tried their spicy “Chatpatta Mysore masala dosa.”
Mitali Patil
A tad bit overpriced for our classic South Indian joints. I'd prefer a roadside stall to this any day but for those obsessed with the idea of sophistication, hygiene and reputation, this just might be the place for you.

The food I have to say, did not disappoint. They live upto their standards but yet there's a void. There was absolutely nothing like giving the customers their space because the manager would closely monitor you at all time making sure you savour every bite in a unapologetically forceful way in an attempt to impose themselves on you.

Bottom line is, if you're craving South Indian and don't have the time and energy to find a better place but you have the money then this is the place to be.
Bhavesh Kulchandani
For me south Indian food means sankalp. For any kind of south Indian food I prefer sankal as the destination. Food is good and fresh. Sambhar is too good with anything. Dosa are good and crispy. Ambience is good with good atmosphere and service. Good place to eat south Indian food with family and friends.
Lalit Sharma
Sankalp, ashram road, is my last destination to satisfied my Hungary mouth, mouth watering tasty sambhar attracks me every time, superb nariyal chatani

Best south Indian?? Yeah u need that u need that then this is a right place for u to dine in awesome place if u are liver of south Indian delights and manna the guiness world replica that's fine :D

Sankalp was a solace in a hot and sultry afternoon where we were roaming aimlessly for food after 3 in the town of Ahmedabad. Hungry and tired we found this South Indian Restaurant. Being the meat lover that I am I was quite apprehensive initially. But I gave in to the fact because my mind kept on reminding me it was Gujarat. I gathered courage to enter and it embraced me with its conditioned cool air - a saviour for the heat hater! I liked the interiors instantly and the awesome part was they were serving water in silver glasses. When I got the menu card I jumped straight to the ice cream section. Jamaican Sundae sounded like heaven at that point! The moment the waiter brought it to me it couldn't wait anymore. It was delicious by the look of it and kept up to the look throughout! And then I ordered a fried cheese idli to balance the sweet tooth. That too was a surprise in itself! And the best part was the price. I was so shocked a posh restaurant like this could be so easy on the pockets! This is the best part of small towns. They serve you well but doesn't extract money from you like a dacoit! Delectable taste and a happy tummy. Couldn't have asked for more! :D
Yash Pratap Singh
Just amazing for their spicy cheesy idlis and the Mysore masala dosas. The place is too good for south Indian foods...i just love it for their ambiance and taste of sambhars and chutneys. The serving time is too slow that's one problem you face with the restaurant otherwise awesome
Aalap Patel
The first Sankalp outlet of Ahmedabad city to serve exotic South Indian food. The place is small with a decent ambience

If you are looking to try authentic South Indian food especially Dosas with North Indian taste, this is the place.

Good varieties of Dosas, Idlis, Medu wadas and Uttapams. For Dosas, try out the three barrels dosa, chettinad spicy dosa and special Indian bhaji dosa for a different experience. Also the sambhar tastes amazing along with the green and red chatnis and the molga podi. Top that up with a chilled glass of lassi. Not to forget the pan that is served as a mukhwas at the end.

Worth an experience :)

A great place to be when in Gujrat.. Lovely vegetarian dishes.. You won't get any better place to try delicious pizzas, dosas etc. Their mocktails is a must try
Viraj Mehta
As always, no disappointment from the outlet yet. Great food, serving style and very nice ambience. Best part was the full fledged service and availability at odd time of the day.

A bit difficult place to find...but once found I liked it. Nice south Indian food. Great taste..well prepared.... Nice ambience soft music. Just perfect for a delightful evening. Must visit.

It was after a week long trip across saurashtra enjoying good kathiawadi cuisine that we arrived in ahmedabad. Being south indians and craving for some good southie food, a friend suggested that we try sankalp.
Arriving at the outlet near dinesh hall at about 2.45pm, we were told that the thali was over (they serve thali only till 2.30pm) so we decided to go alacarte.
The ambience has nothing much to boast so gets 2 stars.
We ordered the malabar parothas which came in a jiffy with two sides, one kurma and a very cold veg raitha. The parathas were not flaky, were crisp and not fresh. Seemed like these were the ready to eat frozen ones which you get in supermarkets. Besides for 110 bucks you get only one paratha. The side raitha was so cold that your teeth cringed at the hot-cold combination.
Next came the curd rice. Stale rice (noted by its hardness) mixed with curd served in a beautiful large looking leaf shaped bowl (but no depth so essentially its only a few spoons) further worsened our food experience.

Then came the highlight. The bisibelle bath was served in a mixture which was so watery that it looked like soup. When we asked the waiter, he said it is "like kichdi". Being from south and specifically from karnataka, we know how to judge a bisi belle bath. We returned the dish and got a fresh bowl without the excess gravy/water. When we tasted, the dish was like a concoction of rasam, sambar, rice and some vegetables. Nothing close to a good bisi belle bath. The chef refused to meet us or hear any feedback.

We decided to give the restaurant one more chance and ordered for a filter coffee and ginger tea. The coffee was pathetic. The decoction was light, watery and tastless. The ginger tea did not have any flavour and seemed like the tea leaves used were beyond expiry.
When we asked for a feedback form, we were told they don't have one. The manager was "busy" and could not meet us. The bearer told us that they serve "different" south indian food and that is the reason we did not like it. We were asked to call the phone number 079-26583550 (which went unanswered) of their corporate office in case we had any feedback to share.
We left the restaurant with an invitation to the bearer and chef to visit our home were we would serve them the authentic version of the same dishes they served us.

The food and service takes zero stars.

Poor amdavadis and others who don't know the real taste of good south indian food may get fooled by Sankalp. The place really takes crappy food to a new level.
Siddhi Shah
Who would have thought of South Indian thali.. But here it is.. Sankalp serves southindian thali at a pocket friendly rate.. Really pleased with it!!
The stAff was also great !!
Very good experience !!
Aditya Shah
Really Fast service and great food quality !! Not such a good lovation but excelent food must visit once ! Its the oldest branch of sankalp !
Chirag Pandya
If you have been here as a child then it will remind you of your childhood again. Nothing has changed except the menu, dosa servings, and size of the mendu wada.
Homely atmosphere with friendly staff and authentic south indian food since years the taste still takes you back in time.
How I never tried curd rice here. Delicious and must try. It has a different name on the menu.
Do not forget to ask for some extra "paan" at the end.
Ambience is a little noisy after 8 30 pm or so. Go around 7 45 to enjoy a private evening.
Aasif Rollwala
One of the best place in Ahmedabad to have Authentic South Indian food. Excellent quality, good service but little pricy. But that price compassionate against quality food and service.
Aakash D
"Sankalp" .. Just by listening to this word the first thing that comes to my mind is a Paper Dhosa with lots of empty coconut chutney bowls around it. The taste of Sankalp hasn't changed since I started going there .. That is around 15 - 16 years back .. It is authentic and yummy, but it's is costly 180 for a Dhosa ! ... I would prefer a low fat chicken tandoori sub instead.
Harit Chauhan
Sankalp
People go there for its (dal) apart from dosa
Some years ago but now
The taste of dal is just boring
V friends used to go there twice a month but now v r not even talking about sankalp because the taste that v want has gone with the old chef
New staff new chef is not my taste
Its service is good they serves so fast its chutney of coconut is just awesome
But dal and taste of dasa is not worth to go
????
Gaganpreet Singh
Sakalp - The word brings idli's, dosa's in the mind of any ahmedabadi. A restaurant running more number of years than my age has south india written all over its name. Its so well-known, old and has holded the taste buds of gujarati's so perfectly that they have made difficult for any other south indian joint to settle in Ahmedabad.
The outdoor sitting still triggers me to go there for dinner, specially in this mast winter mausam.
4 types of chutney, quick service and its signature coconut filled pan, AMAZING. Some new introduced dosa's need change in ingredients. Mostly all have same stuffing of gobi in them, which makes them taste similar. Its better to keep less no. of dosa's then to put same stuffing with different names.
Open kitchen does bring some noise to the tables near the kitchen which can be avoided if the fountain is working. It wasn't working when the last 2 times I visited.
Lots of butter on the dosa's and uttappam's so my suggestion go for without butter. But overall a good experience of enjoying cool wind, hot tasty sambhar with butterly delicious dosas.

I had many childhood memories with Sankalp Asram road branch which happens to be the first restaurant of Sankalp.

Interior & exterior is still old fashioned compared to other Sankalp restaurants but taste of Dosas, Idli, Sambar & Chutnies are still the best among other Sankalps.

Service is little slow but we prefer having dinner at leisure.

The order taking guy insisted on South Indian Meal which I happily ordered but surprised when it came. First came was Soup & Papad as starters, the came the full fledged thali with 3 types of sabji, 3 chapati, 3 types of rice, 1 dal, Dahi Raita, Medu Vada, Chaas & Sweet.......Really delicious & Value For Money.

Food is excellent.. Without a doubt.. But if u end up paying 180 bucks for a dosa, I am sorry but they wont be gettin a lot of customers..

Since its next to my office, I tend to take a lot of guests there and I guess that is how it is surviving...

chilly garlic dosa is quite good and three barrel dosa stands out just for its unique name..

The cocunut paan at the end of the meal is quite good considering it is FREE!!

I had food at this place even 15 years back (when I was in 11th grade) - I was studding in near by school and use to end up here when ever I was bored.

I would say - specifically this location of sankalp - failed to keep up the same taste they used to have. They have increased the price like anything, and above price - now its no more "the best place" for south indian in Gujarat - or even in Ahmedabad.

Visited one of the many branches of this restaurant in Ahmedabad recently after at least 1 year. Must say that a restaurant which once was the best south Indian eatery in Ahmedabad is now just a waste of money. The taste of all the items was really bad with oil all over it. Service has gone to the worst of standards with no one bothering to listen.
Rates too have gone up.
Ony good thing to eat and drink - Masala Boondi and chach.
Otherwise now a complete avoid

Food was good as you can expect from any other sankalp restaurant but ambiance and service totally sucked. We had 4-5 waitors hanging out near our tabel discussing something and the cashier was sitting on one of the table and was counting something with pile of vouchers. Never going again here....
