Review Kalapi Restaurant - Ahmedabad

One of the oldest restaurants of Ahmedabad. It's a veg restaurant. Food is very delicious. It's a very economical restaurant. They still don't accept credit card, debit card or gpay. Some people have. complained about the staff but I found the restaurant staff warm and friendly. I visited this hotel after almost 35 years. But I find it one of the finest veg restaurants for taste and quality of food and it's quite underrated and unexplored even by the locals.

CAUTION:- AS OF DECEMBER 2022, KALAPI HOTEL STILL DOES NOT HAVE GOOGLE PAY OR UPI PAYMENT MODE. SO YOU WILL HAVE TO CARRY CASH IF YOU WANT TO HAVE LUNCH OR DINNER HERE. 1. Kalapi restaurant is located in Lal darwaza area of Ahmedabad Gujarat India. 2. It is a pure vegetarian restaurant located on first floor. Decent hotel in old city. 3. Prices are reasonable between rs 100 and 150 rupees per dish generally speaking. 4. Photos of menu as well as hotel and paneer Butter masala dish are also attached.

Fast and good service, budget friendly and good food. We ate masala dosa, paneer butter masala, butter paratha and kashmiri pulao. The pulao could be better, but everything else was worth it. Recommend!

This one is the best hotel for lunch and dinner same quality and tast every single time ... I love it .... We go there since my childhood and my father is just love it ...

Very nice place and easy to find. Staff was very quick and polite. Order come fast. I ordered paneer tikka masala and it's very nice. Good quality and quantity.

Food is tasty on reasonable rates ....pure veg Restaurant ....very near to Lal darwaja, ahmedabad I gave only 4 star just because there was only one dispute that is in the aloo dum the gravy was finely cooked but the whole aloo was just having a taste of being boilled...the aloo was not tost with the gravy properly

Visited this restaurant after a long time. Nice food as always service was little slow and they served cold roties though they were taking much time to serve. But subjis were as usual in taste even after such a long time. Will like to visit again

I ordered a mix veg sabji and it was smelling. On one hand where guests were waiting, I had to run and get another from a restaurant nearby. We order because it is convenient. Now this is what Zomato provides. Horrible!!

Went for lunch after reading reviews on zomato. How such restaurants get 4 🌟 review. It was pathetic food. Some stupid people has written best Punjabi food; food taste was disgusting. Missi roti and butter roti was horrible. No quality, No taste.

After reading all reviews I went there and ordered south Indian food. Disappointed. Not as per my expectations. Cleanliness and staff Service very poor also. Would not choose it again.

Awesome.<br/><br/>I had been staying at this location (Lal Dharwaja) for a business meeting and was actually struggling to find good similar to my home town, Mumbai!<br/><br/>Especially vegetarian and inexpensive.<br/><br/>Thankfully found this restaurant and my problem got solved.<br/><br/>I had gone to this restaurant for dinner but found the a la carte menu was a little over our budget. So, finally settled on a deluxe thali for take away. It only cost approx. Rs. 150/- and was great value for money.<br/><br/>The food was very good and every individual item waswell prepared. The portions were excellent given the price and was overall the best meal in my trip.

Wow,<br/><br/>My father use to visit this place and always recommended but never got to go there and finally went there and loved it. <br/><br/>Indian simple food the way it has to be. <br/>Best thing was Malai Kofta and Dal Tadka - must try. <br/><br/>Super quick service and very reasonably priced. <br/><br/>Only thing to worry is parking if you take a car, two wheelers can be managed.

This place is good for South Indian dishes and you might have to wait for dinner as this is a descent place near a crowded market area; the service is not that good.<br/>The guy gave us finger bowls after we asked him twice for it. Even before people finished their food, we had a bill on our table :) Quite a bad service I must say!

Just visited this place few days back. No doubt place is bit congested but the taste of food is just opposite to it. Superb options in menu. In brief, place one should try atleast once. 👌

This place is just oppposite to my work place and ordering fix thalis from here has almost become a routine now. The thalis are mostly too good but at very rare times it becomes exception to weird taste in food. The service is quick.

Food is very oily and very less quantity of vegetable no matter what you order it's extremely oily. As per what quantity is served in the restaurant the prices are too high

This is a nice restaurant. Very Nice staff. They rearranged the seating to accommodate six of us wanting to seat together. The food was also very nice. The delivery took some time initially due to large order that we had given but once it came the repeat orders were delivered quickly.

The oldest place has the best things we say and here's to the best punjabi thali I have tasted since long kalapi is the one of the famous restaurant in old city of Ahmedabad where my grandparents used to go on their weekends no wonder the food is best but the ambience and place stinks a lot please make sure that customer comes with smile on their face not a weird one

If you are on a shopping spree, it gets late, and you are very tired and dont feel like cooking at home, instead of hogging on roadside food, you can surely visit this place. <br/>A very old place, running since my grandmother's time.<br/>Simple, nice punjabi fare is served for a very decent price.<br/>Amazing quantity of food is served. <br/>Some people might find the ambiance a bit small. But sometimes, i dont think it matters.<br/>If you are hungry, you will only concentrate on the food and nothing else.

One of the old and best place ti eat punjabi food in city area.after 3 years i have been there.food was awesome with low rate.staff was too cooperative.The other thing i like about the restaurant is the old music with low voice make it more beautiful.

The famous and best place to have Punjabi food in city area for veg food lovers. One of the oldest restaurant and serving quality food. Visited many times and ordered parcel food. Also south Indian food too are delicious. Ambiance is average but service and food will not let down ur expectations.

If some one wantvto taste real Punjabi food, can try this Restaurent, realy tasty dishes, easily approachable, cities centre business area, pocket friendly

In punjabi food, I give first preference to Kalapi. Taste is good. Neat and clean restaurant but area is congested. South Indian food also very nice. I like their sambhar too much. Paneer tikka dry, Manchurian Dry are very nice...

It used to be one of our favourite places earlier and we remember visiting this restaurant almost every time we visited Lal Darwaja area. But recently the food experience I had presented a different picture.<br/><br/>I visited this on a weekday afternoon while being on a work in that area. Ambiance has improved little bit but seating space has always been an issue there.<br/><br/>Me and my dad both ordered Rava Masala Dosa along with Chhas. Somehow due to some reason it took longer than usual to bring the order than it takes in other restaurants. So much so that another couple who came in few minutes after we came ordered, got their meal and almost half completed it. And the dosa had by the time lost most of its heat and sadly saying wasn't as crispy as I've had at most places. <br/><br/>The waiter though was caring enough to continue serving the sambhar and chutney. Chhas was little respite.<br/><br/>Overall it was a decent experience after really long time, but was hoping more as it was at one time on my favourite eateries list.

Best food I habe tested till date...just go for it..

Among few decent places in city area for vegans. Go for Paneer Butter Masala or Mix veg.
