Review Kaushal's - Ahmedabad

Hitendra Vankani
Udipi cafe paldi is the best restaurant for not only South Indian cousins, they are serving Gujarati and Punjabi thali too. Very fast and accurate service they're providing, the quality of food is also excellent and accurate as per your orders. Location of paldi cross road is the prime benifit of this restaurant, they are serving much better food than so called food chain like honest etc. We wish them all the best and for future development of a family restaurant in the heart of the city. Their tea and coffee even better of any tea brand totally paisa vasul family destination with complete satisfaction.

Tried Dhosa and Uttapam. Quality is very nice in the price. Sambhar and Coconut chutney are also very nice but in the sambhar more drumstick that is annoying however taste is really nice.
Drishtant Shrivastava
Nice place to sit and eat if you're on the move. I really enjoyed the Idli Sambhar and Bun Maska with Tea. The service was pretty quick and the atmosphere was overall quiet and peaceful. The menu has all the options from tea snacks to thali

One of the most authentic taste South Indian restaurant With very neat and clean food Quick and easy service Prices are the cheapest around the town with no compromise in quality. Combos available here are very useful Situated right on paldi cross road Aloo Paratha can be better but otherwise fantastic food.

They have large menu. Satisfied with their food taste and quality. Usually they are almost full, though they are able to manage hygiene. That's what I like about them. They have enough staff to prepare and serve their food. At first I thought it's almost full so we will have to wait a little for our order but they are real quick in preparing and serving food. I managed to capture 1 picture only and rest busy in eating. Thank you!

I liked the food quality and service it is in Paldi Cross. Good Restaurants resonable price.

The food is delicious and authentic. The service is friendly and efficient. The prices are reasonable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great South Indian meal

Good, decent place for a nice filter coffee and a masala dosai. It's not that overrated/expensive. But the only thing is parking, it's a bit tricky. Rest the food is worth eating!!!!

If Your'e a Coffee Lover and have really bad experience of Filter Coffee around Ahmedabad then that won't be the case here! I tried the filter coffee it was perfectly hot and perfect coffee taste! Though i am not a coffee person but still i really loved the coffee a lot and it's overall a different experience. The ambience is nice as this place is around 40 Years old it's maintained well! and Mainly it's hygienic all the tables were clean. Moreover as this place is adjacent to main road parking is as issue whether it's two wheeler or a car . It costs 40Rs with Tax 45Rs..i have attached menu pictures so you can have a look. My experience at Udipi Cafe was delightful, and their dosas were the highlight of my meal. If you're a dosa enthusiast or just someone looking to indulge in authentic South Indian cuisine, Udipi Cafe in Ahmedabad is the place to be. Prepare your taste buds for a journey of flavors, textures, and culinary excellence!

Food was good but they have to work on cleaniness and dress code of staff members also upgrade there menu give some more option in soups and starter need some changes in interior
Harsh Shah
Good place to have quick snacks and even lunch and dinner. Their food tastes 7/10. The seating arrangement is a bit claustrophobic and the environment is a bit loud for a dining experience.

Best Restaurant for South Indian Food๐Ÿ‘ The taste of the South Indian food is authentic and the service is also great.
Samip Gohil
Once upon a time this was a go to place for decent dosa but lately service and quality has gone down. No more the place it used to be.
Bhakti Pujara
This is one of my few favorite places near by home to have perfect localized dosa of Gujju style. The Mysore masala dosa and every variety with Cheese is good to enjoy.Cheese Paper Dosa is something I always adore at this place.<br/><br/>A homely place , created in serene bungalow chowk is special about this place.Good to go with group of friends or family.
Ishan Bhatt
No coordination whatsoever , you have to stand on people's head to grab a chair. Also they shout when your order is ready, no proper chair and tables a lot of things can go wrong in seating arrangements. Avoid it.
Brijeshsingh Narve
Sambar, lasun and green chatuy is extra ordinary in taste......all south Indian food items is relatively good in taste... should definitely try once
Priyanka Rajendra Patel
Best place in Ahmedabad to have South Indian food. Quality maintained since log time and Servais is very fast. Always crowded by food lovers. Must go and must try Mysore masala dosa and Idli sambar

Real good food. The sambhar has that authentic taste. The kaushal special and cheese dosa are a must. It does get crowded on Saturday and Sunday with waiting of around 2-3hr. So advisable to reach before 9. All in all a good place for South indian foodies
Hardik Brahmbhatt
Best place for South Indian cuisine lovers your search ends here especially in many more varieties are available in dosas there customer service is quite good but not that much satisfied n even food quality is good but prices are higher comparatively other places near by many other South Indian outlets

Good south indian food.. Value for money.. Since ages we are enjoying south indian food.. Its very tasty authentic South indian food on very reasonable rates.. They have used a compound of a bunglow... Its a new type of ambiance, self service may be discomfort for some but when you talk about quality of food... Ita excellent in taste even.. Its a family restaurant with difference.. If you love south indian food kaushal's is a wonderful choice undoubtedly.
Montu Darji
Super se bhi upar..!!!<br/><br/>Food is awesome.. Specially sambhar and both the chatnis..!!<br/><br/>Have ordered one Maisur Masala dosa and special kaushal one..!! Both are good in taste..!!<br/><br/>Sitting arrangement is not good but worth it for sure..<br/><br/>If I compare with sankalp or Balan then this place rank more for sure..!! Definitely worth it.<br/><br/>Price are little bit higher side compare to road side junctions like suvidha or shivranjni dosa outlet..!!
Abhishek Shaurya
Kaushal is know for it's varieties of dosa and for sambhar and it's chutneys.<br/><br/>I have being visiting this place frequently. It is located in a big bunglow so for some it will be difficult to locate.<br/>As it is in a bunglow the sitting arrangement is not as comfortable and it is an outdoor sitting without AC. Some stools and table's are kept for sitting.<br/><br/>For dosa it is one of the best place in Ahmedabad to eat. Very few can replace the taste of sambhar and it's chutneys.<br/>I usually order rava masala dosa or Mysore masala dosa.
Yash Shah
nice food
Binny Singh
This is my favourite dosa place in Ahmedabad.. most amazing variety of dosas.. sambhar nd chutneys are yummy too.. must visit and try their paper sada cheese dosa, spring dosa and cheese n corn dosa to explore something frim the world of dosas.

Had dosa here 10 years ago... But after so much time the quality hasn't changed a bit. I highly recommend this place. Avoid going on weekends. It remains very busy on weekends.
Yatrick Pandya
This place is supercool.<br/><br/>The best typical โ€œDosaโ€™sโ€ and โ€œUttapamโ€ they serve.<br/><br/>In a big bungalow this outlet is running and they are the favourites of any south-indian food lover.<br/><br/>Itโ€™s a go to place for me and my family.<br/><br/>Itโ€™s a must must visit place.. !!
Zara
We ordered a paper plain dhosa along with a rava onion cheese dhosa. Both dhosas were good and well priced! However, they claim to be making the dhosas in butter but it does not taste that way.<br/><br/>The paper plain dhosa was nice and crispy but the rava dhosa was soggy.<br/><br/>All in all a must try for people liking to eat hot dhosas in open places in these cool winters.
Santosh Narang
The place was ok !! The masala dosa wasn't worth at all !! And the hospitality was bad !! So not worthy of a 2nd visit !! Hoping to find better places for south Indian food in Ahmedabad
Dirgha Desai
Have been visiting this place every now n then since I started living here in Ahmedabad... crispiest dosas ever .... best dosas best place to hangout best chutnyes and mouth watering doas range....
Meet Pandya
famous place for dosa, that's what people said. it is open place with chairs and tools. We orderd rava cheese sada dosa, it taste okay but chatney is good. In my opinion this place is highly overrated.<br/><br/>Food - โ˜…โ˜…<br/>Value for money - โ˜… (Expensive)<br/><br/>
Hitesh Kyada
Heard of this place many times from many people. Visited it n ordered 3dosas n one uttapam, none out of the four items I was satisfied in taste.<br/><br/>Must tell u that this place is very very popular in Paldi area. I prefer Sankalp n Balan Dosa over this.
Binita Chovatia Parikh
A must visit place for Dosa lovers.... Cheese Mysore Masala Dosa and Spring Dosa are my personal favourite. The sambhar and chutney are also too good. The only drawback is limited seating arrangement which makes is crowded specially on holidays.
Parthlochan Bayanwala
A terrific place to have great dosa's..., I love its Mysore cheese plain dosa....<br/><br/>Terrific.... <br/><br/>But there is a problem, very limited parking & no valet service.... <br/><br/>Something it becomes very crowded...
Parth Maru
A decent place with really good and tasty food . South Indian food lovers must visit here. Food is worth the money charged for it.<br/>Loved it.
Purvi Kotak
Have been to this place more than 10 times. There was a time that this place was my most favorite for south Indian food. ย Best Sambhar and fresh food. Have tried everything on menu. Must visit for Dosa Lovers
Vismit Gajjar
Visited this place many times... One thing i don't like is it's sitting arrangements... I like all types of dosa's and chutneys... Difficult to find the place but huge number of people traffic available on Sunday....for dosa lovers must visit place...<br/>Pros: quality of food is very good.<br/>Cons: need to improve sitting arrangements..... No service provided by hotel.....no water arrangements..... Dirty stools and chairs available for sitting... .<br/><br/>Overall only food quality is good....<br/><br/>
Jinal Patel
This place is difficult to locate.. We had to struggle 15-20 mins to adjust chairs and tables... We ordered Rava Onion Sada Dosa, Spring Dosa, Maysur Masala Dosa, Cheese Masala Dosa and Masala Dosa.. All Dosas were tasty and crispy.. Sambhar and Coconut Chutney were nice.. Must visit this place.. But disappointed by seating arrangements..
Yash Nagpal
Kaushal's Dosa serves delicious south indian food.<br/>Mysore dosa is very famous so tasted it. It really lived upto it's name.<br/>Service is okayish.
Rohan Shah
Wonderful Dosas!<br/><br/>The Rava Mysore Masala & Rava Onion Cheese Masala are excellent!! Sambhar also tastes good.<br/><br/>Mix Uttapam was not bad.<br/><br/>No ambience as its in the compound of a bungalow but they provide valet parking. A try for sure for south indian lovers.
Mitalee Rachh
Had been to this place long time back, off late had heard its no working anymore. However happy to see them still on!ย  Being a southindian food lover I enjoyed a lot specially the mysore dosa and sambhar!!
Rajdeep
I love this place! Been there many times! Its dosas and the coconut chutney are my favourite here! Idlis are good too! I give it s 4.5 stars! Do visit it once!
Tanmay Kotak
Kaushal's food court is our favorite place for south indian food. It is also famous as "Bunglow na dosa". Cheese Corn Dosa is my all time favorite. ย They also serve daily special items.
Amit Bhandari
Last time when my dad and I were in Ahmedabad, we decided to follow our love for South Indian food and try oht this famous dosa place all our work colleagues had strongly recommended. Just a heads up, I'm born in Chennai and my mother has lived there for more than 20 years. So you don't mess with my idlis and dosas. You just don't. Although I'm not a big fan of what Kaushal sells as south Indian food, I find the taste very well adapted to the food Gujaratis like - thus the 3.5 rating. But otherwise, it's pretty mediocre. There are several other places in Ahmedabad that serve authentic South Indian food. But Kaushal is a one time visit.
Sanjaychristian
No one can beat Kaushals dosa's for varities of dosa's in Abad...<br/>Quality is always the same, no doubt with the services offered, though its a self service but Sambhar and Chutney you get it at your place ...<br/>Must try " Corn cheese Dosa "
Shwetang Rangwala
Mera suggestions yeh hai sak ke liye , ahmedabad public ke liyee ahmedabad ke sare south restaurant ma app ko south indian nahi pr Dosa naam ke Roti Potatoes naam ke subji aur ghatiya chutneys serve karte hai, mano dosa ky hai pata hi nahi...public ko ek baar south aa ke dekhoo...to pata chal jayeega
Monil Shah
I want to say that if u r really hungry At night and u want a pocket friendly and tasty south Indian food to eat than u should definitely try this place, the dosas are much better than u eat in a authentic south Indian restaurant, and the best part of the dish is sambhar, I just love it...not because of pocket friendly, I m saying but also for it's taste I have given it 4/5.
Raj
Awsome place for dosa lovers... Would give it 5 if the ambience was better<br/>But when the dosa and chutneys are awsome ; who cares!!!<br/><br/>Just close your eyes and order any dosa/uttapam of your choice, am sure u won't regret it
Parth K. Shah
Good food, very tasty. I have had the spring dosa two times, it's quite nice.<br/>But the seating and ambeiance is pathetic. The management is bad. Very uncomfortable. Considering all this, the prices are now overcharged, earlier the dosas were cheaper. I wouldn't pay that much for this place. All people and staff and management are always screaming, and you will want to finish up and leave quickly.
Nikhil Kulkarni
The food is fantastically tasty. <br/><br/>However whatever brownie points the food scores is undermined by the seating arrangement which is absolutely haphazard. No effort by the management to streamline the sitting arrangement.<br/><br/>While one digs into food, one cant but escape the eyes of others who are longing for you to vacate your seat!! <br/><br/>Go here on a public holiday only if you are ready to test your patience! Else if you want to savour the taste at your leisure, prefer non-holidays!!
Dr. Shripal Shah
First time i went there, it took me quite some time to locate this place. Had heard a lot about this place from friends, and so has decided to give it a try.<br/>Its quite a decent and large place, located in a bangalow. Tables are set up in a wierd way though. Bad management I wud say. The place is no where near 'neat and clean'. Service is more like self service.<br/>We had ordered masala dosa, mysore masala dosa, and one more (i forgot the name). The quality of food is ofcourse mind blowing. And that had helped this place going on, I wud say.<br/>Wud visit again for sure, to try out the other variety of dosas.
Mr.Chintan Shah
Kaushal's proved that good taste is not been served in high fi costly restaurant. Famous only for South Indian with more 33items to eat and everything is just a delicious. Try any dish and you will be happy and satisfy. Best part is they serving food in banana leaves.
Mayank Jindal
One of the best South Indian serving outlets in this city. The chutney and the red chutney along with steaming hot idlis and the crisp Dosas is just irresistible. My mouth is watering while I am writing this review for it. Just wanna go and grab it now.ย <br/>It is amazing and the service is prompt. Though they have increased the prices considerably, but the good thing is that the quality is not hampered.ย <br/><br/>Amazing place to be and try anything which appeals to your senses. It will definitely delight your taste buds as well and the joy of eating with hands without fork and knife, is just unforgettable.ย <br/><br/>Overall ratings:<br/>Food: 5/5<br/>VFM: 4/5<br/>Ambience: 3/5 (outdoor seating, becmes tough in rainy and summers in the city)<br/>Service: 4.5/5<br/>Location: 4/5
Meet Shah
The ambience is worst. They earn lot but they didnt spent a single penny for any renovation or They dont have good flooring. The food is good and delecious. The jain vareity are good for jain people. Please avoid this place in summer beacuse so much suffocation and only 2 or 3 big fans are there.
Viraj Padhiar
The place is marking its spot among the top most South Indian food court in the city. <br/>Worth checking in! Each and every thing on their menu will be served to you as your desired delicacy.
Renu F Naidu
Kaushal's food court a place to have hot and crispy dosa. <br/>If you are looking for a good ambiance then this is not meant for you.<br/>A average looking place ( at least better than the laari's in khau gali) serving good south Indian cuisine.<br/>The food is good. The dosa's are nice and crispy. Tried cheese masala dosa and cheese corn dosa. Just to good, the way I like it. Hot and crispy filled with loads of cheese. Generous filling of cheese in cheese masala dosa and cheese corn dosa. Added advantage unlimited chutney and sambar. Would surely recommend to friends.
Umesh Mutha
Had masala dosa and spring roll dosa both were good but the problem is with sitting had to wait for half an hour for a table .otherwise good
Apexamodh
South Indian lovers... Heard about it a lot.. Finally today I went there... Due to paryushan, everything is available in jain variety... N instead of potato they are using banana for stuffing... Still its too good... Must try... Healthy n home food...
Devashree
I am not much fond of South Indian food. But dosas @ kaushal's are just soooo good. Especially palak masala dosa. Service is quick except on weekends. Seating arrangement is ok. I'm in love with dosas out here. Try anything from the menu, it's just finger licking good.
Urvil Sarvasva
Good varieties of dosas. High calories. Authentic south Indian taste is missing. Not recommended for rainy season as it's open and gets pretty messy.
Ajinkya Karode
A very different place from the normal food joints. The menu comprises of varieties of dosas, uttapams. The taste is definitely nice but the prices are on the higher side, considering it a road side eatery. It surely deserves a visit once. Finding it will be slightly difficult first time!!
Jabbar Jigariyo
Not a fan!<br/><br/>I think it's a much hyped place!<br/><br/>Although they have a good selection of unique dosas, the sambhar is not uniquely delicious. Tasty dosas is one thing but a South Indian restaurant would be judged best by the taste of sambhar. At least for me!<br/><br/>Now as for the sitting, it's not comfortable at all. Especially in high humidity summer days (that when I went there) or I guess I would be bad in rainy season too. Sitting tables are pretty close each other, and very ordinary plastic table and chairs. Winter would be good time to visit this food court. <br/><br/>If it was a real bargain place in compare to other south indian resutaurants then I would go to Kaushal's doso. But given their prices, I would skip it and go to a restaurant like DAKSHINAYAN for more authentic taste and better sitting.
Khedawala Taufik
A Very good Concept of Restaurant in a Bunglow<br/>Superb taste ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย <br/>Ordered Cheese Dosa and Uttapam<br/>Both were superb will surely visit again

I think it is the Best Place In ahmedabad to eat south Indian especially Dosa! Best dosa in Ahmedabad! But year by year you'll surely notice increasing in price same as Sankalp if you are Regular Customer.. but must Try place for South Indian Food lovers! :)
Anadi Chaturvedi
The food was mind blasting. The rava pudina masala dosa was yum. Mix Uttapam is a must try. i have been here almost five times now and the food keeps getting better every time i visit this place.
Emil Christian
The best place in ahmedabad to have south indian food. Cheese pudina dhonsa and spring dhonsa are great pick ups..from the menu.. the interesting thing about dis food court is it is situated outside the bunglow premises..with swings been an extra attraction to enjoy your south indian dinner..a must visit for non ahmedabadis and ahmedabadi
Rushabh Shah
If you are looking for a south-indian taste with mouth-watering varieties - you shouldnt be the one who miss this place. But dont expect a ambience or cleanliness over here. In short, its a best place to taste south-indian dishes specially Dosa but just prepare and limit your mind to have joy of food only.
Mihir Parikh
One of the best place for south indian food in Ahmedabad.<br/>Even pocket friendly place also.<br/>I love lasan chatni.<br/><br/>Impresive management to treat with customers.
Shail Sheth
If you want to eat a quality south Indian food then this place is the best option.<br/>Its at reasonable price and food taste just awesome! Love it!
Ronit Nayak
A surely must mouth watering taste of south indian at kaushal's dosa aka "bunglaw na dosa" for all amdavadis.. must say u can visit on behalf of Sankalp ...and maut taste "phudina chese masala dosa".. @ kaushal's... aweome taste...<br/><br/>Go for it..<br/>#Be foodieie...
Ruchit Darji
If you are madly like south indian, you would love to visit Kaushal again n again.<br/><br/>After so many years I got a chance to visit especially coz I m mad for South Indian.<br/><br/>Nothing like ambiance, Its just like old fashioned bungalow and like you have gathered for small function.<br/><br/>Regarding Taste, Its rich one, I had a real mysore masala taste after visiting several places. Dal, Chutney is awesome.<br/><br/>Dont expect 5 star service, Its ok but just you have to wait 20-30 minutes once orderd.<br/><br/>Must Visit for South Indian Lovers !
Sagar Shah
Here you can not come with your family.owner is shouting with your names.very unhigenic food and ambient.parking is always a problem. And food rate is comparing with AC hotel.and here they give no facility. Not lighting not AC nor fan.and sitting is third class plastic chair and rate is like AC class restaurant. Pls do not waste your money.
The Girl With A Fork
Best South Indian food in town ... <br/>It's one of the very old places in abad <br/>The taste has remained the same since ages ... <br/>Must try ..
Kevin Choksey
The ratings r for the food..... <br/>I hv had such authentic south indian taste only in the south... worth tasting it oftener... much better than sankalp, though varieties are less
Parth Adhyaru
Haven't been here off late but the food is very rich in terms of fat calories; high in oil/butter/cheese. Food is pretty clean unless it is monsoon season. Monsoon/post monsoon the seating becomes very uncomfortable as well as unclean. The food preparation is pretty much popular among modified dosa lovers! Must try Mysore masala cheese dosa.
Arpan Gajjar
True dosa power.. good quality.<br/>I always try to go when i visit paldi....<br/>Sambhar are too good.<br/>Very clean and good place. Only seating is not comfortable.
Parth Multani
One of my all time fav place for mouth watering SOUTH INDIAN delicacy...<br/>This Time bit disappointed..<br/>Visited yesterday evening for light dinner with family, Ordered Rawa Masala Dosa, Rawa Phudina Masala Dosa, Rawa Mysore Masala Dosa.. tha taste of masala, cutney, and sambhar was perfect jst the Dosa Layer was not tht great like always..<br/>Still it will remain my all time fav for SOUTH INDIAN FOOD...

Kaushal commands legacy...<br/><br/>This place is simple and straight...<br/><br/>A basic South Indian offering with no frills repeat no frills...however awesome in taste | quality | quantity...<br/><br/>An old joint and you have to be a real Ahmedabavdi to get to this place...and still you may have to ask for it at least once if you are going for first time, may be...<br/><br/>The place is quite and calm...A Big Mansion converted into a open roof cafe...in Varanda...<br/><br/>It has that cozy feel...mind you they do not have plush seating or a fine dine set up...Kaushal has just everything to sit and have your supper, just what is required. It is an evening joint...and the feel is really too good...<br/><br/>Kaushal, Paldi is here around since ages and doing great...it is pulling all those back who went there once...it is capable to make you crave for a South Indian food... And consistent...trust me on this...<br/><br/>And the only reason I believe is they serve good yet limited varieties of decent South Indian food...Idli | Medu Vada | Dosa | Utthapa all basic yet flavorful...with some good Sunday special offerings...<br/><br/>Serves only one kinda Idli variety...good spongy and goes really really well with White Chutney and Sambhar..<br/><br/>Medu Vada - tender and fried to perfection...and Dosas with a traditional Potato Masala is too good...<br/>Also love Mysore plain with a punch of red chutney paste...<br/><br/>All in all a great package...and at too good a prize...<br/><br/>4/5 one mark just got off for Car Park...avoid your car...even in there parking they do not allow in spite of big parking inside...and if they billed you and send bill at the end instead of picking up the tokes every now and than<br/> <br/>Cheers<br/>VIVECK patil<br/>www.facebook.com/viveckspatil

I would have never known about Kaushal a decade back had I not been staying in Paldi, infact in Dasha Porwad society itself. There was no Zomato then. <br/><br/>Kaushal is not like any regular restaurant that we would imagine! It is housed in the compound of a bungalow led by a narrow lane lined with mansions in a posh, green neighbourhood. And the owners of the bungalow continue to reside in there. They have set out a longish platform for cooking along one of the compound walls and set out tables in rows in a part of their compound. Rest is a miniature garden.<br/><br/>A lot said around the point, and now coming to the main thing, Kasushal serves South Indian cuisine. "So South" indeed tops my list of favourite South Indian joints but no place still beats the mendu vada served at Kaushal. The catch is, mendu vada is not on their regular menu now. But they do prepare them sometime. Their mendu vada is spongy, crisp, deep-fried and green-chilly spicy. Try their Mysore cheese sada dosa or the spring with cheese and it takes you to a different world. Kaushal's special is also great! The accompaniments (sambhar and the chatnis) they serve are freshly prepared and delectable. <br/><br/>I still remember taking a friend to Kaushal in Paldi and she loved it so much that she would bring her family all the way from Maninagar almost every fortnight to eat here.<br/><br/>I don't stay in that area now and don't happen to go there as often but once in a while I try to catch up with Kaushal food at Vastrapur. The problem with this location is that most of the times they wouldn't prepare all of their offerings and you return disappointed. I have not been able to figure out why but this Vastrapur one is somehow not fully operational all the time.<br/><br/>Havent been to Kaushal? Go, go, go! <br/><br/>PS: Paldi or Vastrapur, do try and find out if they are working on a certain day before actually going!
