The altruistic cafe runs in the concept of a gift economy by the very warm, welcoming, friendly, and helping volunteers. Basically, your bill has already been paid by someone who visited earlier. They give selfless service by treating their guest as just like family members, not as a customer. They serve home-made brunch like every three days of weekends, the menu changes except that drink. But along with your meal, will come an envelope, where you will be asked to pay for the meal of the next person. And the amount can be anything. It will be up to you. Seva café main motto is to bring the change, not monetary but culturally, through its idea of sense of thankfulness. If you want to volunteer, then have a word with them prior to giving your compassion to help.

Recently heard about this place and was eager to visit because of their beautiful concept. The simple concept they follow is 'Athithi Devo Bhava'. Your bill is paid by the person coming before you. Cafe is run from Friday to Sunday 7-10 PM. The cafe is run by volunteers. The place is made beautiful. The ambiance is soothing. It's just like you can sit there for hours. The place have a limited menu which changes from day to day basis. The service is great as when they serve you the food comes with a great smile. I really loved there concept and would like everyone of you who is reading this just try this place. It will make your heart lit up. The place is just amazing.

Seva Cafe is loacted on CG ROAD, Shoppers Plaza I & III, 4th floor, Opposite Municipal Market. Day - Friday, Saturday & Sunday Timing - 7 PM to 10 PM All the persons working here are volunteers. You can order from their menu and you have to pay whatever you want in the empty envelope. They work on the concept that your bill is paid by someone and you are paying for someone. Their menu change every day.

But here at THE SEVA CAFE, you'll get simple yet delicious food with a warm welcome & delightful ambience. I acknowledge they don't serve like a regular cafe but what they offer is something simple yet the taste sits on your pallets so consummately. There ain't much cafe based on such a theme in Ahmedabad for sure. They welcome wholeheartedly whenever you pay a visit to this place followed by tilak of chandan on your forehead. A volunteer then spends sometime with each individual group briefing them the concept of Seva cafe.

Seva Cafe is a must visit place and it should be on every person's bucket list. Located on C. G. Road exactly opposite municipal market in center of Amdavad city, Seva Cafe is one of the most unique places in the world. A cafe where there is a gift meal concept, very warm, friendly and helpful volunteers and home made food prepared with love. They have an open terrace and AC section. A small library, quotes from famous personalities and a lovely ambience. I had tomato uttapam, dosa, pasta and lemonade during my visit. I was happy to donate books, stationery, clothes to the cafe. Overall it was an amazing experience. Kindly note that Seva cafe is open only on weekends Fri-Sat-Sun in the evenings 7 pm onwards. Don't miss out this place. Strongly recommended.

Built on a unique concept of the gift economy, this restaurant is a MUST VISIT if you are in Ahmedabad. Largely run by volunteers, you would see all normal people like you and me who are behind the kitchen, waiting at the tables. What I loved was the un-trained warmth with which they greet you and talk to you. The menu is different every day but it's not just the food that they are famous for. Located at the posh CG Road, they have a good amount of space for a restaurant, general leisure seating, a library and a handicrafts center. So, you can definitely spend more time than just eating here. Coming to the food part, it was absolutely delicious and the portions were good. They don't provide you with a bill since there are no prices - but just a list of items you ordered. It is totally up to you how much you want to pay for it. It's a great concept and something which needs to be encouraged well. I am a fan of this place. I didn't get a chance to volunteer this time when I visited India but I'll be booking myself well in advance the next time.

It's a cafe with a beautiful concept. It's volunteer based cafe so people who are cooking in kitchen to people who are serving are all volunteers. Although they don't have extensive menu it doesn't feel like it's about money but rather community in the cafe. I'd recommend this cafe if you're in Ahmedabad.

If you are looking to spend some quality time that too in a peaceful place then YES this the perfect place for you to visit. They serve quality mocktails and food and I especially enjoy having Ice Tea there. The only drawback is the closing time is at 8:30 pm so for working professionals it is only possible to visit on weekends. Also, they have a different exhibition planned out there on sundays that also someone can explore if fits to their area of interest.

This is an open cafe with enough but limited chairs but you can sit at many places that you will find in open. This place is little dark and spacious and very much peaceful. There is also a free parking with no hurdles of traffic rules. This place is only having one problem and that is mosquitos. If you are looking for an open cafe than this will be the prefect mood maker.

Visiting this place since 2007 . Their tea,nachos and Quesadillas are the best ! Even their meditarrean pizza is awesome !! Drawbacks of this place is open space, giant ants and it closes early by 8.30 ! Else everything is great, a cool decent place to chill and spend time with your friends !

The restaurant is handled by waiters only. Everything tastes the same. Hygiene is a huge question. Toilets are dirtier than a 3rd class train compartment of the 90s. An outdoor cafe in Ahmedabad with a single fan. At such a place of beauty with BV Doshi's architecture and MF Hussain's painting, it's a pity we cannot have a descent cafe with good food, service and hygiene that celebrates the space it stands in. Patethic.

A friend ordered hot chocolate and when I saw brownies on the menu, I immediately ordered myself a piece of it. The cappuccino, to my surprise was evenly bitter and sweet with soothing cream base. It tasted amazing! The hot chocolate, on the other hand was not bad, good amount of chocolaty and thick, but I have had better versions of it at other places. Now comes the Show Stealer: The Chocolate Walnut Brownie! They served it hot and soft! It looked fresh and tasted heavenly. Zen cafe has always been my favourite place to spend some peaceful time with friends. Specially this outlet in Amdavad Ni Gufa is my favourite one. It has open air seating area. They also have some umbrella and water sprinkling fans, so you can also seat comfortably in the noon time. I have always loved the ice tea here. Coffee is equally great. I have also tried some sandwiches, that's also good. This place has a different kind of aura in it. No matter when you visit, you'll always feel peaceful here.

One of my favourite places in the city, Zen Cafe offers just the perfect ambiance to chill and have a hearty talk with partners. The fact that it is situated right inside the premises of Amdavad ni Gufa is a bonus. Now coming to the food, the carrot cake is indeed the winner here...it's beautifully baked with just the right amount of sweetness to it. Tried the nachos, Margherita pizza and garlic bread as well till now- all of them were made nicely. The iced tea is a pick-me-up in hot and sunny days!

This place is one of the few places where you can feel bliss. Seat with friends or date and just chat. My favorite hangout place and i haven't found any coffee yet that can compete with them. Coffee 10/10. Other food 6/10 If you want to eat here i would suggest to order garlic bread. Their speciality is coffee though.

Another place I was introduced to by a Dutch friend. She had heard so much of this place that she insisted we need to go there. I was so enamored by the simplicity of this wonderful cafe. Perfect weather, a cup of coffee and a good wrap with a friend to talk nine to the dozen.. We also entered the souvenir shop which I thought was yes bit expensive. But all in all a great place to go to catch up with old friends. It's out in the open so when your reminiscing it adds to the aura as you can watch the clouds.. Cut the .5 cause of parking issue.

I think (and I am sure) this is one of the few places in Ahmadabad which serves its food as it is without making it favorable for Indians by not adding tonnes of butter and masala! The food of this place should be served in heaven, the paneer panini is a dish to die for. The ice cream coffee shake is awesome and everything was the right proportion and the coffee was also not too strong. The iced tea also tasted great but was flooding with mint and ice. The paneer wrap was very creamy and flavourfull. This is also a great place for art lovers as their are art exhibitions going on in the same area and there is also ahmedavad ni guppha right next to it which is a cave painted by MF Hussain.

The Hummus & Falafel is one of the Best I've ever had. Always have it when am there. And if nothing, the Nachos are always a good fallback. The Coffees are amazing. Great value for money. The Ambience and Music along with the seating, lighting and the architecture is what comes out of from a page of an amazing novel, where everything is just perfect and seems to fit in and compliment each other perfectly. You can spend hours here even if you are alone, and probably have the most soul searching of times. Go along with a good friend, or probably a bunch of colleagues, it serves all purposes. To just take a trip through the famed 'GUFA' in the end in evenings tops of a surreal experience.

First things first - This cafe closes at "8pm", so go early, it'd be great if they change their timings in summers coz usually it's hot till late evenings. So basically i stepped in at 7.40 and was kicked out around 8.05, I was just settling myself there and the guy comes and says it's closed. We ordered iced mocha, iced chocolate shake and tomato basil mozzarella panini. I loved the panini, but they served me that first and my coffee was served late I had to gulp it and leave. Overall I think the people go there to enjoy the silence, the faded lights and greenery all around.

This place is situated in the vicinity to CEPT university, so the crowd is really good. Right time to visit this place would be right before sunset. It's in an open area (photos uploaded). The menu is the standard Zen menu with my favourite Iced Tea. Iced tea is a must try when you visit this place. Other thing which can be tried is Nachos. The places is an absolute paradise for the people who just want to chill and hang out with their friends, or have deep conversations. This place has an amazing atmosphere around it. All in all its a decent place to chill.

Well that's it you can depend on coz nothing else there is worth trying. Food quality is very low as compared to the hype of this cafe. Value: Not at all worth it. All prices are due to the 'Hussain Doshi Gufa' not the cafe itself. Ambience: Being inside a quite university campus, it's calm and peaceful and great for winters, since it's completely outdoor. Summers will kill you in this cafe. Not worth its name.

The only reason of visiting Zen cafe is the ambience. But when it comes to food it was pathetic. We have ordered Brownie shake and chocolate shake. The shakes were too sweet and brownie wasn't fresh. We left the place. They need to work alot on food. There are many more cafes to hang out. I would suggest to try others..

Zen is my staple place to order food from. But sometimes the quality of the food is not taken care of. It was consistently good in the past. Lately, they've been sloppy with the orders. My Quattro Veggie Pizza was extremely salty and uneatable yesterday. We were also served a stale paneer Kathi roll the day before, and stale bread with the sandwich. I hope they can keep up the food quality as they add more items on their menu. I have high hopes from this place.

This has been one of my favourite places to hang out forever and I'm glad that not much has changed, over the years. I had the Chocolate Milkshake, which was satisfactory (definitely not worth Rs.100/- though) and soaked in the architecture of the Amdavadi ni Gufa. Apart from the seating provided, you can also make use of the steps, making it really informal. Its proximity to the Art Gallery which is literally a hop, skip and jump away makes it even more convenient to spend a few relaxing hours in Ahmedabad. I think I probably rated this place so high only because of its setting and ambience :)

Situated Inside of a College campus this place makes me feel nostalgic. With their USP Zen Cappuccino worth a shot it feels great to recollect college memories. I like the entire ambience apart from the traditional Sofa, chair etc One can sit at any place you wish to. Menu is not so clustered, but lesser options to decide Just few munchies available. Yet this place has it all that one needs at the end of the day. But its better to visit in the evening because it has an open ambience and feels good with lights and the progressive electronic music around. A place which you wont get bored, afterall its similar to your college chai sutta Hub but sophisticated. Ambience - 4.5/5 Service - 4/5 Quality - 3.5/5

This place is simply majestic. It is open only till 8 in the evening since its located in the premises of a university. But trust me guys this open cafe is so beautiful that you can roam around freely and just chill around in any part of the premises with your cold coffee or coffee for that matter. You can visit the gallery while sipping ur coffee. The food over here as well is also awesome. And best part you can randomly pick up any place to sit and no one will object. Yea i said it right, there are no tables, you can sit wherever you want to. LOL. The only bad thing about this is, that you are suppose to get out by 8. since its a closure after that. PS - Awesome atmosphere.

Highly recommended place to sit in a peaceful setup. The presence of trees and the urban siting concept makes most evenings charming. The service seems fine and apt to most regard. One can even try a non conventional open sort of ampi theatre to sit and talk to old friends. The cold coffee was at par to the price paid.

This cafe is an experience in itself. Outdoor seating, good food and amazing surroundings...what else can you ask for. The shakes and the finger food are to die for. spend time in ths nearby art cave or just hang around the campus. Best visited in the evenings.

It was a Rakshabandhan and that was the time to feel relaxed with Didi-Jiju & wife. We decided to move out and I turned my car to Zen cafe. Not planned but thought to sit there for couples of hours in an open area. We had Cappuccino, Cafe Mocha, Chocolate Brownie Shake and Hot Chocolate. Order was served well in time as there was no ruch. Of course I would consider this spot just for a hangout and not to have excellent coffe & food. Both coffees were decent enough. While shake could have been better. That's not the one we can find at known spots for chocolate shakes. Suggestions : please change the cups and glass to serve hot and cold beverages. Buy some new ones or serve in disposables. Didn't like at all what I got. More than beverages, spot is good to chill. (Just beware of mosquitoes)

Though Mumbai has a lot of Cafés to chill, this one in Ahmedabad is no less! The ambience is killer, it is right next to Amdavad ni Gufa which is in itself a lovely place. Zen reminds me of the Bandra Amphitheatre with the sitting arrangements and the atmosphere. We ordered Lemon Ice Tea and Cold Coffee which were good but not extra ordinary. The service is quick and really easy on pockets. I recommend do not visit in case its extremely sunny/ humid since its an open space. However, if the weather is cool, one should definitely visit once.

With so many cafes have come up in Ahmedabad, Zen Cafe at Amdavad ni Gufa will still be my favourite. The vibe here is still the same since a long years. Classic and serving good healthy food with amazing coffee. There is an art gallery here where you can witness so many art stuff. Lot parking space. My all time fav at Zen is Pizza Platter with Classic Cappuccino or Mocha Cappuccino though each meal here is great!!

I visited this place for the first time and really liked its theme and ambience. The cafe is open air, sitting under trees, a perfect hangout place. Though for first timers, locating it may prove troublesome! Also, it is open for a very limited time, approximately four hours. So, plan your visit accordingly. I visited it with couple of friends. We had Latte Macchiato, Tomato Basil & Mozzarella Panini and a cold chocolate shake. The Macchiato was true to its definition; espresso with milk foam and taste was good. Panini was also superb but Basil was a little bit overpowering. Surely a must visit place.
