Review Baba Au Rhum - Anjuna

Harsha Anjanappa
Upon our arrival around opening time, the restaurant was bustling, a clear sign of its popularity. While there's ample staff to manage the crowd, expect potential delays in receiving your order based on demand and menu choices. The restaurant provides views of paddy fields, offering an average scenic experience. While waiting, you can appreciate the view, observe people, or watch the chefs in action. I had heard much about this establishment and had the chance to visit during our visit. Firstly, The restaurant provides ample parking. The ambiance is pleasant. The food is satisfying, with a good range of vegetarian and vegan options.

One of the great place for breakfast in Anjuna area, I particularly enjoyed the freshly baked croissants—they were truly the best. The Masala Omelette, Avocado Delight, and Orange Juice also stood out as top-notch choices. The spacious layout allows ample room for kids to move around, and the availability of ample parking enhances the overall experience. The service, while decent, complements the inviting atmosphere of this place.

Food- 1. Amazing food 2. Plating style , portion size and almost everything is right at point at this place. 3. I would recommend there breads and pizzas strongly Service- 1. Service is very poorly managed. 2. Right from entry to the exit, the staff isn’t much responsive 3. Every dish, major or minor : every sauce and dip… everything will take an average of 15-20 mins to get served on your table Atmosphere- 1. The overall vibe of the place is very good. 2. Crowd is decent and very happening

An excellent place to have good food. Priced on the higher side , but definitely worth it! They start serving pizzas post 11 am. The place starts to get crowded past 11.30am , so do make sure to reach before that. Service is on the slower side , but the ambience and the taste of food is great!

One of the days in Goa I decided to visit Baba Au Rhum for breakfast! We loved the ambience and vibe here as it is set in a quiet and green neighbourhood! They have sufficient self parking slots outside and open air seating. It’s a must visit place to have English breakfast! We tried the hummus platter, Magherita and grilled vegetables. Orange juice was also freshly squeezed Highly recommend to try this place out and ensure you go early as it gets crowded later

One of the popular places around Anjuna area and quite close to Lollo Rosso which I really love, this is one of the places where food, music and culture can be experienced. They have a vast menu and I found this place really good for brunch. I would try to visit here around evening time to see what the vibe is like. One recommendation: Do try the fresh brewed beer here, they have around 6 options, try the mango and stout beer, both are lovely! We ordered Egg Benedict which was overall good but we felt the bacon was a bit hard and dry. But the pizza here is juicy, light, and delicious!! The crust is soooo good you'd feel like having more and more. The coffee (cappuccino) was pretty average, though. We also ordered orange slush which was decent enough. The prices are decent and for some items, it's on the higher side. Overall, it's mostly for the feel and one of the coolest places around this stretch of Goa.

A Culinary Gem in Anjuna, North Goa! Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the delightful Baba Au Rahum in Anjuna, North Goa, and it's truly a gem of a place! The earthy ambiance and lush greenery create a beautiful setting that enhances the overall dining experience. The highlight of this establishment is undoubtedly the exceptional food. The bakery items, particularly the croissants and bagels, are top-notch. I highly recommend trying their bagel or croissant sandwich – a true delight for your taste buds. The quality of drinks, including a variety of coffees and beers, adds another layer of enjoyment to your visit. The pizza is commendable, and the desserts take the comfort and fun quotient to new heights. However, it's worth noting that the washrooms could use a bit more attention in terms of cleanliness. While the staff is generally friendly, I noticed they seemed a bit rushed on weekends. Perhaps some additional training could enhance their ability to provide attentive service, as there were moments when I felt they could have been more responsive. Overall, Baba Au Rahum is a must-visit for food enthusiasts seeking a delightful blend of excellent cuisine and a charming ambiance. I'll definitely be returning for more culinary delights!

Extremely relaxed and chill ambience for a sunny afternoon. Milkshakes are highly recommended here. Cold Coffee would be a big No. Breads are freshly baked, some felt really dry but you could try a few hands on!

What a Place! We went for dinner. Prices are to the higher aide but the taste justifies it all. Also the quantity is too good. Beautiful ambience. Even when you go solo, you will love this place. Nice service and Lipsmacking beverages. Coffee was too good. Quantity was too much 😂

Good food but major flaws with the service. We ordered Pizzas and some of our orders were forgotten. Patrons who came after us were served their food. We had to wait over an hour for 2 pizzas. Also, we noticed patrons walking to the kitchen counter(these guys have an open kitchen where they place the food once it's prepared) without a mask and talk over our food. The patron had a beer in his hand and was too close to comfort with our food, especially in times like these when safety is upmost priority for all of us. One member from the staff was actually speaking to him at the counter and didn't feel the need to tell him to either maintain distance from the food or wear a mask. Immediately after this happened, our food was brought to the table which we returned because we didn't want to take a risk. A major thumbs down for negligence towards customer safety.

A friend of mine had recommended this place to me, so decided to go for brunch! I loved the ambience of this place and gives kind of cool and happening vibe. The seating area is versatile and cozy. the menu includes lot of healthy options. Also your order might take a while since they have live kitchen and they make everything fresh.

All the dishes/drinks are highly instagrammable. (tastes good too🤣).

All the mandate safety measures were taken except there were no sanitiser on the tables though( i know asking a bit extra but still).

Washroom was spick and span. very cute and instagrammable washroom!

we ordered following items:

Cocktails- elderflower slush, some other two gin cocktails ( check picture for ref). All were really good! we liked it so much that we had repeated our drink order. i liked the healthy concoction ingredients of all gin cocktails.

Mixed green Salad - honestly they are clearly charging for 50 grams of diff veggie leaves. There was nothing else in it except salad dress and bread slices as accompaniments. I would not recommend or order this again.

Veg power in croissant - Loved it to the core. I had never had croissant sandwich before that. it was mild in taste and was served fresh.

Mediterranean sandwich in baguette - i liked the filling of the sandwich. The taste was good but dint like it with the baguette as it too hard to chew. would have tasted better with croissant.

Hummus platter/ bowl - was good too.

Dhruvi recommends - gin cocktails❤️, Any sandwich in croissant.

Overall good experience! I would def recommend this place. Cheers!

This place offers very good music, ambience and superb craft beers. ‘Leo’ the owner of this place is very friendly and helpful to get you the right place inside the cafe if a pet is accompanying u. Very positive vibe.
Loved the food and loved everything abt this place. a must visit spot on ur one day goa trip for a brunch with a glass of beer.

Oh my god, I can't describe how good this cafe was. The food was awesome but i must say that i never had a yummmy cheesey crispy and delicious pizza anywhere I have ever been!! We ordered a lot and it was all worth it. Wether it was pizza or burger or pasta and some non veg stuff that my other friends ordered, I must say all was worth the try. Forget to mention the beer, it was cherry on the top basically!!!!! Will definitely go there again! And you should too.

Aniket (the manager) has immense attitude and sass - argued with me as a customer on the phone, and refused to apologise for his attitude and mistake. Horrible!

This is always on my must go list, when in Goa, it's been 8 years and I never fed up from this place, always excited to visit here. The place has a very different vibe, from other places on Goa, not a beach view but still one of the best places to be. Owner is also very courteous and ambient, nicely curated menu with some wonderful options. If you are a fan of quiche and Baguette, then this is the place for you, however, it goes out of stock very soon. Some delectable preparations like cheesecakes, pizza, ceased salad and fried crispy chicken. Pizza is also a must try, when here. Nice seating arrangement with good music and cool crowd a perfect combination. They always have some good deals on beer tub. I am always confused, what to eat and what not too as everything is absolutely divine. So next time, when in Goa, this should be on your list.

It's Consisted Of Fried Egg, Chicken, Cheese, Spring Onion & An Amazing Chilli Plum Sauce. Baba Au Rhum is a very rustic looking restaurant based in Anjuna. It has pretty views, very beautiful interiors and serves some of the best food. Its a fantastic place. Super cool ambience and very good seating. Tried the Puttanesca Pasta and Mexican Pizza, both are worth having. Burgers were also very good, Service was the only issue as they have a very small staff but other than that this place is a must visit if you are in and around Anjuna

As my fellow blogger Chirag the hog blogger suggested this place for breakfast. We tried all from his recommendation and it was all great . We loved the food.

The tastebuds will need sometime to accept the english breakfast in the first time but my first time experience of this place was really special. I am highly impressed by the food presentation, ambience and the staff. For food, will come again!!

Had lunch at Baba Au Rhum this afternoon. Was overall quite a pleasant experience. Ordered the Prawn salad and beef cigars for starters. The salad was okay, but the beef cigars were very tender with a nice taste to it. Main course was the beef cheese burger and grilled fish. Both items were cooked well and left a nice taste in the mouth. Ambience was very relaxing and laid back with good music. Service was decent. Meal for two was 1800 AI

went there a few weeks back for lunch. the place was packed and the music was just perfect. ordered a lot of vegetarian dishes and 3-4 pitchers of sangria. The food was above average and every sangria pitcher had a different taste. overall a nice place but surely a little more effort needs to be put in for the vegetarian dishes. considering that the place was now where near being pocket friendly, quantities need to be improved.

Great food, relaxing ambience, loved the 🥐 croissant and the burger, great cocktail menu, a sure come back 😇

It was very crowded when we visited and most of the crowd was tourists. You'll find everyone smoking here which was very uncomfortable. Not recommended for kids. More of a breakfast kinda place then lunch or for any other meals. Also the waitress was least bothered about the customers. We tried calling her like 5 times and she was in her own world.

Great place for Crafted Beer, healthy food.

The place is quite in the interiors and finding a parking spot would be difficult. However, it’s definitely worth all the hassle. The place has a very relaxed vibe - a typical Goa vibe to say. We went there for a brunch and after waiting for a while found a nice spot right in the centre of the restaurant. The ambience is definitely top notch with really courteous staff.

Coming to the food part, their fillet mignon was delicious and I would definitely recommend it. For vegetarians, the avocado delight is something that you must not miss out on. For pizza lovers, their thin crust pizzas are really really good.

For desserts, we ordered a strawberry cup and a homemade gelato. Both of which were to our liking. However, i would suggest the restaurant to add few more desserts particularly for the people having a sweet tooth.

A place that I would definitely visit once again when in Goa!

As the ratings suggest!
This place is an amazing vibe!
The staff is very courteous.
This place is abitt in the interiors but it is worth going and chilling and specially in the evenings.
The major highlight of this place that i liked was the 🔥BEEF BURGER🔥 The burger was extremely juicy and filling. The 🔥chicken croissant🔥 was amazing as well it was juicy and the chicken & the fillings were perfect. The🔥 beef cigar & the pastas🔥 were abitt on the okayish side but you can add some spices on the pasta and make it better. The chicken burger was also amazing and the 🔥 margherita pizza🔥 was also great in taste though i would suggest that you additionally add on some more chicken to it.
The best highlight of the evening was the 🔥Affogato and Vietnamese coffee🔥 I AM NOT A COFFEE LOVER BUT TRUST ME! IT CHANGED MY MIND. That was amazing! It was an amazing place and worth a visit! If you are in goa definitely visit this place.

Amazing place, feels very Goan and home to so many cultures under one roof. They care about the food, the environment and the experience for the guests.
I loved the drink coco Goa , veggie pizza and their homemade dips served with French fries. Cheers to this place.

Quite an over hyped place in the area. The ambience is okay, but the food did not live up to my expectation. Also, not worth the price.

I had tried the Oh My Goat Burger which was average. The pasta was a big let down. Only thing worth enjoying seemed to be the coffee.

Person at cash counter doesn't have ethics. Returning less money after paying the bill. And then you ask why less money they say don't have change to give.

Overhyped -
V average breakfast , service is v laid back. It was 9am and the staff seemed unready to serve us. They missed 1 of our orders so decided to go elsewhere and found on Zomato Toro Toro not very far from here for great ambience , view and well presented food . The breakfast platters are far better !

While there was nothing at all wrong with the restaurant, it's sad to see that they entertain a syndicate of local cab drivers right outside the establishment, drivers of which are dangerous and threatening. We booked a Goa miles cab to move towards our next destination, and when the cab arrived, the local driver threatened to buy the cab with a stone, due to which the driver cancelled out ride. While the management of the restaurant was spectator to the entire episode, no help whatsoever was offered in this situation. While as an Indian I can wrap my head around what happened, as an international traveller I would be throuroughly distressed with what happened, and wonder what kind of reputation the place is building for itself while entertaining such a syndicate tight outside its doorstep.

This is the best breakfast place in between Baga and Anjuna, the food is great and ambience is amazing. Definitely worth visit
FOOD: we tried chicken cheese burger, chicken surprise burger, sea food platter and fish salad. All four are amazing
DRINKS: we had coffee and it was a perfect blend
AMBIENCE: watch out for waiting time as it might take some time before you get your place.

Good comfort food in a vibrant cafe environment which we dont find much in Goa. good things which pop out are the dishes are familiar and have a fresh feel to it.. pizzas with a beer and the view to the fields and the road add to the french vibe in india...

Will go back for the overall package of sitting for lunch in a french cafe drinking fresh beer and listening to some nice music!

Ambience of this place is loveIy. Its worth to visit during daytime as location is quite scenic and you can view palm trees and lush green fields from almost every corner of the restaurant. They have dj setup which plays live music which is noise free and quite soothing to ears. In terms of food they have regular options like english breakfast, pizza, baguette, croissant etc. One small suggestion though, they should keep eggless bread for burgers as it would be convenient for folks who are pure vegetarian.

After hearing so much about this place, I decided to visit during the afternoon. It was quite crowded for 4pm I thought! It seems to be located in the middle of nowhere, with no “scenic views” as such. However, the way they’ve done up the place more than makes up for the lack of natural beauty. It’s spread across quite a huge area with a good seating capacity, ideal for large groups. Baba au Rhum has a very relaxing vibe to it, which I thoroughly enjoyed! As I was going through their extensive menu, I spotted a heading just dedicated to croissant sandwiches. Since I absolutely love croissant sandwiches and never give up an opportunity to order one, I went for the Mediterranean one. We also had Hibiscus Cooler and Ginger Singer fruit juice. I really liked the sandwich and the cooler. The juice had a predominant flavour of orange with subdued flavour of pineapple, which could be tasted towards the end (it probably settles down in the glass). I also ordered a veg half and half pizza (consisting of half Earth and half Mediterranean). I loved the pizza! It was thin crust and loaded with toppings. To give a better idea, the all veggie side tasted like a very desi sort of pizza. It went well with Bira White. Service was quite prompt and staff was courteous. They also have a lot of breakfast options, if you’re interested. Overall, a great place with an extensive menu, so I’m sure one can find a lot of options to choose from. I would rate the place as 4.5!

Heard a lot about this place and finally visited Baba Aa Rhum. We tried the English platter which had eggs, bacon, beans, mushrooms and chips and the supreme burger (must try)

For all tea / coffee lovers, they have various types of both – DELICIOUS. Cortado is a total hit.

Amazing ambience and will definitely go there next time in Goa.

Nice laid back restaurant (Shack) .. we went their on Saturday evening .. surprising it was not that busy.. the restaurant is open from all side so their were mosquitoes around, so we had to sit under the fan. We ordered the Pizza , though it was nice ,but few edges were burnt. Service is very friendly

We went to this place on 30th December, and it was packed but they managed to serve us food ASAP. Goan prawns, sangria and hummus was simply amazing.
Food - 9/10
Ambience - 10/10
Service - 10/10
Must visit if you're in Goa.

The burgers and the brunch options here are excellent. The burger is massive and super filling. The chocolate raspberry dessert was fabulous as well. The ambience is great and therefore remains packed throughout. The pizza and dessert options are great as well. Gulp in the food with jars of sangria which is a popular item here.

BBQ pizza was awesome however the earth pizza was not nice ..must try the fish fillet and Ricola walnut salad

We didn’t get to really eat as we were almost turned away. The lady was rather rude and nasty. We were a group of 10 with 6 hungry kids. The place was full. When asked for waiting time, she said go away and call us in 45mins, we will then tell you if we have space. When we asked if we can feed the kids at the bar, she said they don’t serve at the bar. When we asked if we can takeaway some food, she declined saying that it will take a while and the food gets soggy. And then she went on to remind us that they reserved the right to turn us away. All of the reasons may have been and perhaps was indeed factual. But given the context of kids and us making polite enquiry did not deserve this attitude. It seemed like she forgot that customers have a right to stay away from the restaurant as well. People come to a place for the food but would also like a place where people are nice and polite if not cheerful and welcoming. Being rude and nasty leaves a ‘bad taste in the mouth’. Sad

Heard a lot about this place hence decided to drop by for lunch. The wait time was long but a politer staff would have made the wait better. Nonetheless, after negotiating for a table my husband and I ordered a Hercules Burger, Beef Pizza, Bloody Pineapple and a Cream Chocolate roll. The burger was a visual treat, living up to its name of being a super big mouth full. The fries were good alongside. The chicken patty could have been a little moist, seemed like it had been sitting out a little well after it had been fried. The pizza was superb, crisp and thin with juicy perfectly spiced meet chunks and a mixture of the cheeses. All flavours blending well and not sitting heavy in the stomach.
Washing it down with the drink wasn't a great idea as the paper straw taste seemed to have sink in a bit. Maybe skipping the straw altogether would be a better idea.
The cream chocolate roll was beautiful buttered, so melt in your mouth with the cream and the chocolate holding their own flavours separately yet doing a perfect marriage in the mouth.

Definitely would love to head back for pizza and the delicious cream chocolate roll.

This cafe is located in quite a secluded place, away from market area/city, covered with tall trees. If you are travelling to this location, make GPS your good friend. It has english and european menu.

This cafe surely requires 5 rating but because of staff behaviour, i will rate them 4.
Staff was not very attentive and polite. We asked water from them multiple times and even they did not care to keep the plates infront of us rather kept it on one of the corner of table.

I will surely recommend to visit this cafe for breakfast.
Ordered below dishes/ beverages.

1) Water melon juice and pomegranate juice was served cold and presentation was quite good
2) Veg burger was superb. It was too huge, served with fries and tomato and diablo sauce. Diablo sauce was going well with fries. Burger had huge veg patty along with thick later of cheese and veggies such as onion tomato, olives and spinach. A MUST TRY DISH
3) Mexican pizza was delectable and fit for the god
The pizza base was very thin and crispy and had cheese and veggies on it. I really liked it
4) Irish coffee- the coffee was really strong and served cold. However, it was bit pricy, it costed ~₹450 on small glass of coffee

I will highly recommend to visit this cafe and you wont regret. You would experience nice airy cafe with wild jungle all around. The ambience is pleasant and music played blows your mind.

The place has a different vibe to it. It's in the middle of nowhere. The ambience is nice, open and airy.
Continental style of food. Servers are good. Thankfully told us that the portion is big so not to order too much food basis 2 people.
ordered
Half and half pizza - Bacon and Onion + pepperoni 4/5 (a little greasy but flavour-wise was really good. keep in mind the size of the pizza is quite big)
Filet of fish (couldn't eat it since the fish was not right - returned it since the supply of the fish the restaurant got was bad - happens can't blame them)
Hercules Burger 5/5 (Ordered the chicken instead of the bacon option. Really great to see a burger without mayo or sauces and only rely on the ingredients to sing. thick juicy chicken patty with bacon, lettuce, egg, cheese and gherkins.

If incase in the mood to enjoy some continental food, definitely a place to go and enjoy

In love with the place. Will surely visit again. I happened the go there for breakfast and it was an amazing experience. Also, stopped by a cloth store to shop which is in the house. Loved the preparation and the hosts were very warm n welcoming.

What a find ! Stumbled upon this place looking for joints near our hotel. The food was amazing. The coffee, the cool drinks the best I’ve had in a while. Not to mention they offer gluten free options the whole day !! The Mango Wiz desert made my whole day ! Going back for more very soon.

Don't miss this quaint place in case you are in Goa. Go here for the food, go here for the music, go here for the stars, go here for a drink, go here for the lovely people running the place. We had croissant, pita platter, blueberry tart, rolls and some drinks here. Everything had a light, fresh taste to it. You will leave her satiated - mind and body both.

Heard a lot of good things about the breakfast here and kind of liked and relaxed vibe as we got in. Also saw some interesting pastries. From there on everything took too long starting with cleaning the table and then taking the order. We paid at the counter after the bill took a while but no one came for payment.
Ordered a non veg eggs Benedict, a farmers omelette and the big English breakfast. I also had a cortado.
The Benedict bread was toasted so was difficult to cut and the egg was not runny as ordered.
I ordered my eggs for the big breakfast runny and got them mostly done and the crispy bacon was burnt. So requested a change. Change came with the eggs where even the whites were not done. The rest of the plate was the same so had to contend with cold mushrooms, tomatoes, bake beans and sausages.
Hyped up place.

This place was beautiful to hang out with my best buddies. I really liked the music. Food was great, quantity was perfect. I had ordered fries, a veg pizza and creamy pasta. There was sour cheese on the pizza which I didn't like much. For drinks, I had ordred the Hibiscus mojito which is to fall in love for. Overall, it a was good experience. A lovely place to hang out with your friends at an evening.

This place is a hidden treasure. I was smitten by how it was shining in middle of somewhat forest area. The ambience, the music, the thoughtful quotes hanging all across, the sweet cat Amore and the lovely host were such a soothing experience amidst the chaotic traveling. Now about the food, you must try the pepperoni pizza, cigar roles, steak and the homemade ginger ale. Their Bakery is the only one in Goa I could find that serves a genuine Croissant. Do not miss the bakery goods and desserts. Just go and enjoy. (Updating pics)
