Review Starlite Bar & Restaurant - Bardez

Good place on the main road Washrooms can definitely be cleaner, wash basins were also in a bad shape. Food is good and decently priced as well. It's famous for it's Crabs which I didn't try this time but will do so v soon.

Our experience at Starlight Restaurant in Arpora, Goa, was nothing short of delightful. The culinary journey began with a flavorsome soup that set the tone for the evening. The starters were a true revelation, showcasing a perfect balance of textures and tastes. The American Chospy as the main course was a highlight, offering a savory delight that exceeded expectations. The biryani, a culinary classic, was expertly prepared and brimming with aromatic spices. To cap off the meal, we indulged in their special dessert—an exquisite coconut pudding that left us in awe. The interplay of flavors and textures in this dessert was nothing short of magical, leaving a wonderful impression that lingered on the palate. Starlight Restaurant not only met but surpassed our culinary expectations, offering a memorable dining experience in the vibrant culinary landscape of Goa.

The dinner was delightful with a pleasant ambiance. We chose North Indian cuisine, which was fresh and flavorful. The service was efficient and the staff were friendly and attentive.

You want good sea food fare . Look no further. Starlight is the place. It used to be small but now they have expanded the open seating this year. Service is a bit slow but worth the wait. Waiters are nice and polite. Mandatory visit if you are in Goa. Must try the calamari, and mussle fry.

Goa is dotted with seafood restaurants that also serve other cuisines. Tourists can find good restaurants everywhere, all you may need is to access the search online engine. Starlight in north Goa I have been visiting for last 10+ years and it never disappoints you. Reasonably priced & matching beverages to add, makes Starlight a recommended place. Starlight also serves fix menu or thali for lunch. One can try that, it’s very affordable.

My all time Favourite place to visit in Assolna! I have visited and tasted the food from all the surrounding places in Assolna but Starlight still stands out to me, from the masala used to the flavours and freshness they get to the seafood, it's all pure Goan flavours like the Goan Rachedo Masala and green masala. If you are in Assolna without a doubt you must visit.
Ankur Fernandes
Visited here with my cousins. The place has a dedicated vehicle parking. The food we ordered was of good quantity and tasted very good. The staff were courteous and friendly. The prices are pretty much on the average side however do check with the prices of fish items before ordering. The place isn't that crowded in the weekdays. Not recommend if you are looking out for pork and beef. They do not serve. Personal Recommendation - Liver dry fry

Food is tasty particularly crab and fish. The authentic Goan fish thali to try here. Mackerel fish thali is must try at this restaurant. The staff are helpful and service is quick. The prices are affordable or economical.

The best fish thali I've ever had in Goa. I just loved it♥️ Crab masala must try

This restaurant near Arpora Night Market, has a very basic ambience but definitely excels when it comes to food.
Place is quite popular amongst the working people for its thali which is available during lunch hours. I took the special fish thali (had kingfish rawa fry, tisryo, baby crabs and fish ambotik), accompanied it with prawns rawa fry and it was enough to fill the 2 of us as it came with both rice and a tandoor roti.
Prices are good for the quantity and quality that you get. Fish was fresh, everything well cooked and service was good.

*Only con is parking, as its right next to the main road with no separate parking space. Car parking might be a problem.

Located on main road; this is small no frills type eatery which is awesome for Goan preparations including Thalis. Very basic eatery, oldschool, friendly staff, quick service and fantastic taste.

I would give this place a 3.5 stars mainly due to cleanliness and hygiene issues. Place is a bit worn out and it could use a light renovation.

Service is fairly quick and to the point. We had fish thali and loved the most the chonak tava fry - it was really fresh and tasty. Thali had different seafood preparations in different styles and some of them were really good some were ok. Generous portion overall.

Overall ok place for budget but not very family friendly due to the hygiene so i wouldn't return...
Ashwini Desai
Very understated and no-frills kind of a place but serves some kick-ass sea food! Absolutely the best crab xec xec I have ever had the pleasure of trying. Very courteous staff.

Located near Saturday night market Arpora, Starlight is a really nice place to grab a quick decent meal at a reasonable price. I tried their special kingfish thali, It was really nice. And service was very fast. Do give it a try if your looking to grab some nice Goan food.(kingfish is hidden under the roti)

We usually visit this place for the Goan food and the ambiance.
Last 2 visit have been a complete disappointment.consistantly.

Every fish dish was stale fish ( being in Goa completely no acceptable )
From lepo fry. To squids fry..
The most funny part was the Goan fish curry. ( Which came up with tomato pieces and capsicum. ) This was so ridiculous..in my entire life in any place in Goan i have not eaten anything like this.
The prawn cutlet came with cababge n onion and no prawns at all and eventually sent back.

Complete disappointing experience.
They have to seriously look into the food quality n taste and may be change the Chinese cook who is making Chinese style Goan fish curry ..

Recently been to this place. I would say the food can be much better. Specifically the goan cuisines. We ordered Prawn Xacuti and Balcao. I have had much better Xacuti and Balcao. Along with it, we tried Rice and Noodles. The Fried and Noodle were good but then again, thats not much of a benchmark.

Ambience can be improved. This looks more of a shady joint. And service is good. All the best. Cheers.
Amit Malik
One of the best place to have authentic Goan food so far. Every year I visit Goa and make sure to fulfill my seafood craving here. The staff is polite. Seafood are always fresh. Had chicken cafreal, kalamari masala, prawns masala, crab, chicken xacuti and there popular fish thali. Its the place where even Goan local like to eat. This place is also light on pocket compare to other shacks and restaurant around.
Food Of Bombae.
Starlight is nice restaurent on the main arpora-calangute road with a fairly large seating capacity to accomodate. basically it is bit hard to find a good restaurent whenever you are on a tour but a place like this sort all your problems. Ambience is like okay okay. need to improve hygiene level. do try if you're in goa.

This joint was a walking distance from where I stayed in Goa. I just came in one night with my bae. The lighting was dim and the place kinda seemed dead. We still decided to try the food. The service took a long time. We ordered for chicken and fried prawns with breads and beer.

After waiting for almost 20 minutes, the food was served. The prawns were one of the best that we had in Goa. Crispy and tasty. The chicken was dark green and spicy and really really tasty. I had a tummy full meal. The breads were also good! It was really delicious.

Would suggest to improve service to get more people in.
Anjali Girdhar
An okay kind of place…we stopped for some drinks here…..

It wasn’t very busy here and the service was also quite slow…

The fish and papad that we tried were good.

** when in Goa, try to have Goan meals at least once, then head out here***
Nowhere in goa, I found a cuisine as much perfect and taste as food in STARLIGHT. I came to know that, the local residents in Goa prefer starlight, and was surprised the restaurant is busy all from noon.

🔥 menus in STARLIGHT
Goan meals - Fish Thali, Prawn Thali and Crab Thali
Chicken Thali, Egg Thali and Veg Thali.

All the menus are completely different and there is no repetition in menu. Fish Thali is preferably the most highlighted menu, and it was 🔥.
Once you order, it takes around 20-30 mins for them to prepare the food (The food is not precooked, and only prepared after request 🙀).

There are many menus to try for , and one main is Fish. Try the famous Kingfish here, known for it's original Goan grill cooking.

💲💲💲Price : affordable when compared to other low quality Goan restaurants.

Rating : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Check out my Google review :

https://goo.gl/maps/58MqAMDKa5e31RLm8
When in Goa you have to try this place.. We had their fish thali..it had surmai, crab, squid, clams one more fish I dont kno which one it was and 2 vegetables one bowl of awesome spicy fish curry gravy, one roti, rice n salad pickle and amsol..only for 250.. It was just tasty and soul filling..
Mayur
It was one of the favourite choices way back in the year 2003, used to recommend all friends. But recently visited this place and was totally disappointed with the taste of food.

Best place to have good Goan food. It is authentic and inexpensive. Rice + chicken Xacuti + beer is a must try. Located at a very good location.
Ahmedabad Foodie
Fish thali is as usual but with addition of crab curry and tisre. Chicken thali was not as impressive. okayish place. There are better options. Service was really good. staff is very courteous.
Arpith J
Just fabulous and awesome !!! Crab fry was out of this world.
A simple place serving a complex world of cuisines. Must try for seafood lovers.
Mallika Divya Hatimuria
I think they have the best lunch thalis in town. One of those typical local places where tasting local food is a must try.
Though I didn’t had the opportunity to eat other stuff in the menu except the fish thali, but that said it all. It had everything, shells curry, fish rawa fry, octopus masala, crab gravy & everything a seafood lover can ever ask for.
Just that the place gets overcrowded during lunch (of course for obvious reasons) & the services become a little slow. Otherwise if you are in Goa, it’s a must visit.
Chandrakant Pawar
Everyone should try their fish thali is just wow. It's got everything that a seafood lover wishes for, an amazing fish rawa fry, fish curries, a crab masala and clams. I think it was one of the best meals I've had.
Pratap Ghadge
It's in Arpora. Small joint but the food is simply delicious. Must try prawns rawa fry and chonak fish. Don't forget to ask them for catch of the day. We had their famous King fish thali which was worth trying. It serves one of the best thalis in Goa. Local joint.

If your looking to eat in a local restaurant with great food at a great price then look no further than Starlight. We had biriani and chicken sizzler both of which were tasty and good sized portions.
Atulya Pillai
We ordered the popular fish thali here and weren't disappointed. It was all my favourite seafood in one plate. Just wow. And on waiter's recommendation we tried chicken cafreal which had had tangy and dark green gravy. Overall experience was great and will recommend this place for anyone looking for a good place to try fish thali.
Foodie Tejas
Staff here are very cheap, they take order too late and order comes after 1 hour and the taste is shit, the staff don't corporate properly with the customers
Priyanka Mukherjee
Amazing FISH THALI that includes king fish Rava fry, fish curry, squids masala, mussels and crab curry and some curry and veg dishes as well. Whole some thali it was. Perfect place for any sea food lover. Highly recommended.
Flexcia
Go for their seafood and fish thali. One of the nicest local food place around the tourist belt! The food is delicious. Ask for the daily specials too!

FISH THALI a day keeps all the worries away !!
.
#GrafooodieRecommends this awesomely delicious Goan style Fish Thali from Starlight Restaurant near Calangute
.
Visit to Starlight was totally worth it & value for money. The Thali consists of perfectly fried & cooked slice of Surmai Fish, Prawns Curry, Crab Masala, Sea Shell Curry, Muli ki Sabji, Salad, Papad, Roti, Rice & the best Kokum Drink.

Their Veg Thali is equally delicious- they serve food potatoes coated with rava just like the fish. Other items on the Thali too are yummy.
.
Eating here was an absolute delight. This was one of the best meals I had on my recent Goa trip.
.
Do definitely try this place when you’re in Goa next time. You won’t complaint. Try their Masala Papad & Bombil Fry too along with some beers, it’s FAB.
.
.
Follow @grafooodie for more Thali series and my Goan food exploration
.
.
Tag a friend who loves #FishThali
.
.
#yourlocalfoodie #grafooodie #lunch #goa2018 #goa #vaccation #goabeer #cult #foodie #foodgasm #seafoodlover #beach #goagram #baga #calangute #travel #travelblogger #foodblogger #shotoniphonex #2sssdayyy #sogoa #goanstyle #thali

Yum yum yum!
Loved the calamari masala fry and the goan fish curry was amazing.
Reasonably priced. Ambience is pretty average.
Oh, but you get cheap alcohol!
❤️
Very bad service... Nobody bothered to ask us even for a table.... I will suggest don't go to this restaurant... There are lot of better alternatives available.
Pranav Desai
Poor service. Nobody bothered to ask for even a table. I would suggest don't go to this place.. instead there are many restaurants in the 100 mts radius.

This no-frills eatery by the roadside is a decent place to lunch. There is no a/c, so it can extremely hot during the day. It does have quite a lot of hype surrounding it, but is pretty average in most aspects. I ordered fried prawns and fried chonak - the chonak was very good, but the prawns weren't firm - they were sort of mushy in the middle (not raw, but perhaps stale)The fish thali was really good! An array of sides including shells (tisreo), kismur, crab xacuti, salad, curries, a heap of rice, two tandoori rotis and the best part - a thick slab of perfectly cooked fish, It's alright for a one-time visit
Dr. Foodie
I ordered garlic naan and paneer tikka masala
food was excellent 5/5 for both but the service and ambience was not good.
After waiting fr 20minutes a guy came to take our order.
The table clothes were not clean.

By ends day 2 , while heading back home on the way we found this place “star light” . As most of the restaurants were kind of empty and dull this was bit crowed, so we decided to give a try. We ordered pawns and other stuff and found to be great. However the restaurant was not an happening so rating it as 3.8 .
Purkhaa Tak
One of my friends recommended this. The food is very reasonably priced and they do have quite some vegetarian options. The food here is decent. I like their finger chips & paneer tikka. The veg thali is okay too , the quantity served is also good . My friends love their Fish Thali and goan dishes ,but I don’t eat non-veg so cannot really comment on that . The ambiance is pretty basic and nothing fancy. The place is small but it is very popular among the locals. It is located on a busy road and is quite easy to find. I’ve eaten here a bunch of times by now and I’d recommend this place if you’re looking for a budget restaurant. I will visit again.

We were searching for some good yet pocket friendly place to have our lunch & came across this one. Not a big restaurant, this is just besides the main road, yet since it was overcast the weather was pleasant to just sit back, relax & enjoy our food. We ordered Prawns fried rice, prawn noodles , Spcl Fish Thali & Bangda fry. Not bad to be honest for price it charged, although service was not that good & it seemed everyone was very lethargic to take orders.
Food- 4/5
Ambience-3/5
Service - 2.5/5
Desikan Ponnusamy
I don’t know what magic they do with the masala. It’s really something. I make a point to visit this place whenever I come to Goa. Highly recommended for seafood enthusiast.

I had been to star light at my last visit to Goa, I ordered the authentic recipe of Goa cawfreal along with roti, and I must say it was just awesome. And then prawns curry rice just was perfect to finish the meals, yes I am sure would like to test some more on plates till then, yoh rey goyak

Great seafood. Bang for the buck. Had a fish Thali and it was one of the most sumptuous meals ever. It included a piece fried king fish, a little serving of crabs, some Goan style Curry, a roti, a good serving of rice and a bit of what we in coastal Maharashtra call javala along with a veggie.
Ngasang Nab Dong Mey
Restaurant on anjuna road with friendly atmosphere.Service are fast and food are delicious too. We had fish thali, masala fry fish, chicken thali. Each item taste so well in thali.Usaully customer come for thali and they are quite famous for same.
Saurabh Mordia
Cold food in thali, roti was rubbery, service was slow, cutlery was wet (general lack of hygiene).
Fish that came with their famous Fish thali didn't feel fresh at all. Disappointed.
Carol Arahana
This place is my favourite value for money, hygienic food and great taste ,I will recommend this place to most of the people , it's a wish paradise you will get best quality food at affordable price ...

Another hidden gem, if you may say so. Situated like the others have already explained this place sure is not eye catching, but definitely dishes our some mouth watering fish thalis, fish rawa fried, prawns etc.

They are meant for their afternoon thalis which must confess is a no fuss meal, to the point and perfect in execution and taste. The place is in an old ramshackle house which needs renovation thou especially since its situated bang on the road. But maybe a facelift is not what the owners are looking for considering the look stands same for years to come now.

Anyways a good joint for food and booze and yes pocket friendly too, for both friends and family alike.

Good place to visit again, especially for the thalis which are inky dished out in the afternoons. All the best guys...
Colwyn F
Good food. Tried the thali. Value for money. Minimalistic ambience and road facing.
A mix of vegetable and seafood made the thali complete. Everything was decent and reasonably priced. I would say it's a satisfying meal but doesn't do justice to the many 5* reviews.
Sonia Basu
There is only one word for the experience... FOODGASM.... AHHHHH GOA! The freshness of the food. The spices.. The taste.. The aroma... It's a trip to heaven n back.. The ultimate..

Starlight is a nice Restaurant on the main Arpora-Calangute Road with a fairly large seating capacity to accommodate even small & large groups. It has no Air Conditioning however & can get quite warm in the Summer Afternoons. The Signage is quite good & being on the main road, it is easy to find. Parking however is on the main road itself & can sometimes be a challenge. All the Tables are nicely laid out & the Menu is quite large. This place is however recommended for their Local Goan Food, specially their Fish Thali which is Freshly Made, Sumptuous, Tasty & Good Value for money. The Service is also prompt, which is nice. A good place to go to for a Drink & to enjoy their Popular Fish Thali when in the area.
Aaron
Terrible place, sub par food. Definitely not coming back here. We decided to try this place only because it was close by and we didn’t want to travel far. Apart from lizards joining us for dinner, the hygiene was spectacularly bad and the service was equally disappointing. I’m shocked that this place had any good reviews (the only reason I actually came here). Shahvir Patell came along too.
Raina Singh
go to crazy crabs instead of this one. cheaper and better.
pathetic service from the waiter.
food is okay okay.
alcohol is cheap everywhere in Goa. So don't worry about that.
Looks like they have a lot of fake reviews.
Tania Fernandes
I had heard alot about this restaurant, so I decided to dine here one evening. It was the worst food i have ever had in goa. I had ordered prawn curry and chicken xacuti. The food was extremely spicy and tasted pathetic. Was completely disappointed.
Food Guzzler
Cheap Prices & Okay Food

Best way to define this kind of place is that you can have a peg of Kaju Fenny at INR 20 (60 ML) & the food is just fine. They will cook every dish out of the book with their own method.

Like Afghani Chicken is made out of Tomato curry for no reason, I just didn't get the reason behind.

Earlier this place used to be great but now waiters, cook & probabily lot of other things about this place has changed.

Its a beautiful lit place with nice lighting across. One visit is enough to have a feel for the place!
Ramiya Dixit
food is good, little bit over priced bcoz of near to main road and nice location. i ordered for a fish thali it was Rs 220. one tandoor roti, rice one fish fry and 6 side dishes . fish was tasty but all side dishes are waste. i heard similar fish thali is best in ritz classic, panjim. staffs are good.
Ankit Arobekar
One of the good place I've been to. Good location, ample parking lot. Coming to the ambience, I would like to give 5 stars. service was excellent especially the waiter Dnyanneshwar.he was humble and very friendly and very quick at service. Coming to the best part The Food. We ordered chicken dry fry, must say one of the best chicken dish we came across, gravy was delicious. Squids chilly fry and squids garlic was amazing and crab xec xec was too good. A place to visit when you are in Goa.
Omkar Raje
Looking for a nice reasonable restaurant for family and friends then this is the place.Nice outdoor seating, spacious enough for big groups.Nice goan feel. The rates are quite reasonable. The staff guides u well.Basically it is bit hard to find a good restaurant whenever you are on a vacation but a place like this sorts all your problems. We ate here almost everyday when we were in Goa.
The Food was delicious.Initially I didn't excepted much from this place but they served some delicious thali as well as goan food.Things we had:
Chicken Thali
Veg Thali
Chicken Cafreal- Goan delicacy.A must try.
Chicken Vindaloo- If you love tomatoes.Try it.
Chicken kolhapuri- Spice lovers do taste it.
Chicken hot Garlic-Nice spicy appetizer to start with.
Chicken Tikka- Scrumptious enough to recommend.
Veg items were also good.Actually veg was better than nonveg.
Veg Kolhapuri
Paneer Tikka
Paneer Chilly
Dal Tadka and Jeera rice was our staple food.
One of the biggest Tandoori roti I have ever had at Rs15
Overall Experience was too good.Do try if you are near Arpora or Baga.
#ROVERRECOMMENDED.
This place is a must visit, if you are traveling to Goa. Small place yet amazing and delicious food. Staff is also friendly and prompt. Good place to have dinner with your friends.

A small place with some amazing food.
We loved this place So much that we decided to revisit it.
It is totally light on your pockets.
It does complete justification with their quality & quantity.
We had their special Goan dishes liked vindaloo , xacuti, chicken chilly
Sumit Srivastava
Feeling lazy in goa and hence decided to order food from outside rather going out for dinner.. The food was economical and quantity was also good for 2 persons. I ORDERED chicken masala but I didn't like the taste as i was expecting it to be in a north indian style but it was having goan taste...tandoori roti was also average.. nevertheless it was cheap and nice..We can't expect much.
Dipesh Dhanu
My all time favorite place in north Goa for lunch/dinner,This place is small but cozy. Teir fish thali & chicken starters are amazingly testy. All kind of dishes had different Test.Thumps up to them👍

Star Light is a must try for Sea Food Lovers. Ambience is ok.....But Seafood is fresh and quantity is just fine. Very Reasonably priced....
Service was good when the restaurant wasn't occupied by many. Full House and the service was a disaster. We ordered..
Bombil Fry.. Masala Surmai Fry.. Rawa Fry Mussels ... Butter Garlic Calamari... Chicken Caferel...Dal Fry and Rice...... Everything was tasty... No complaints on the food front at all.
Shree Choudekar
My all time favorite place in Noth Goa for lunch/dinner. they serves yummy King Fish and Prawns. Cheap liquor prices. Ambiance is not good. Need to improve hygiene. always a crowded place.but you can go to have yummy fish.

This place is small but cozy. Their fish thali is amazingly tasty. All kinds of dishes had a different taste. Thumbs up to them. They don't have a AC room though.
Alan Chettiar
The 1st place I visited when I reached Goa, had ordered King fish rawa fry, prawns rawa fry, squid fry, Kingfisher beers and lastly ended it with a fish thali. Total for 7 came upto about 3.5k or so. Do try it if you're in Goa.
Sailee
This restaurant serves best sea food. Especially the Crab Sukka, prawns, etc... If you're looking for the ambience then I would say 3, but food is best and fresh.
Arpit Gupta
This restaurant near about Baga beach and good crowded place. We tried chicken Xacuti and Tandoori chicken and both are ultimate in taste. Good sea food there in affordable price. Service is fast and good.
Darpan Bhuyan
Incredible Goan food with the right kick off masalas. Haven't tasted better raeschedo masala gravy, vindaloo and masala fry ever... Must visit if you know your spices and can handle it. It's a must visit.
Rohan Belvalkar
Had the fish thali here. Cost like 200 rupees and was like totally loaded. Seemed like a popular place as it was packed and had to wait 10-15 mins for table.
Anu
Best place for Goan sea food. Very low on cost compared to the others in the area. Don't have anything other than goan food here. The crab masala was finger licking good and so was the prawn rava fry. Don't expect fancy ambience but just come for the food .
Seema Rajput
Pathetic service and waiters are hopelessly slow and don't care about customers. Please be ready for the coldest attitude of the staff. And coming back to food...... Fried rice ws tasteless and chicken chilly was sweet. for the seafood I ordered king fish fry and tasted so foul and smelly I couldnt even finish one piece of it. NEVER GOING BACK

This restaurant in Arpora is Paradise of Seafood. This restaurant serves very fresh and extremely flavourful Goan sea food 🥘.At Star Light I tasted best Crab Xacuti(Sukka) and rava fried Mackerel.
Mackerel curry and Fish Thali are awesome.Clam curry is also fantastic. This ultimate sea food taste exotic with chilled Beer.
Star Light is one of the best Sea food joint in North Goa.
Service is cheerful. My server VINAY H PUJAR is extremely efficient and courteous boy.
Looking forward for many Sea food scented visits to Star Light.Till than Cheers🍺
Mayuri Lakhwani
Food is ok in taste. Very reasonable as compared to other hotels nearby. Ambience is bad. And services are very bad. One order takes an hour to serve.
Pearl Khan
Excellent food, had the fish curry and rice, the best I have eaten in Goa; had been looking for an authentic Goan shack for a while when I found this
Vedika
HORRIBLE SERVICE! We had a bad experience at star light. We were seated late, our orders were taken after 25 mins of us settling down. We were 8 of us, so our orders were taken much later and our food arrived even more later. After almost 30 mins. It took us almost 2 and half hours to finish lunch and leave from there. DON'T COME HERE IF YOU'RE ON A TIGHT SCHEDULE. Coming to the food, only prawns koilwada was nice. Thalis and eveything else was just average.
3 Spoons
It a casual dining place nothing flashy. We ended up here coz we saw some localities eating here so thought of giving it a try. We must say we were not at all disappointed. the non veg thalis looked amazing. We went for a veg thali and a prawns curry with rice. Everything in the thali was good but the main highlight was the kokam curry that we loved a lot. Would not want to speak about the service and staff coz it was a small joint. Just go there for the food.
Danish Syed
This place i have been only for lunch and I have a soft spot for thali's and my rating are based on this.

The thali that is served here is out of this world with ten odd seafood items served with hot rice. The star of this thali is the fish fry that is served.

This place beside the road is just great, sitting in the shade and have a nice cold juice during the heat of the day. Time just stops at this place.
Nyzel Peter Pontes
The food is delicious and cheap. The Goan fish thali just suits everyone budget. There are variety of fish to choose and feast on. Their service is quick.
Amey Deshpande
Located on road near Baga this restaurant is easy to spot.
They don't have parking space to it could be difficult if you have car.

This is casual dining place is kinda average nothing spectacular. Waitres were humble but not enough in number to handle guest. Tho one the waiters explain that they usually have more waiters and some took a day off.

Moving on to food. Oh my good it was spectacularly amazing! We had Mori fish tikka which is also known as shark. And prawns fried rice, prawns was so soft it literally melts when it came in contact with my teeth.
6/5 food!

Despite having some flows I definitely recommend this for food. And yeah it's cheap too, like cheapest meal I had in Goa.
Rashmi Shetty
Best place in Goa to try authentic Goan food we had the fish Thali which was perfect and the prawns vindaloo bought tears in our eyes it was so spicy but yummm even the chicken lollipop was awesome.

My worst eating experience in Goa!

We visited this roadside restaurant for dinner. It's a dimly lit (hardly lit I should say).

To begin with, we ordered a sweet corn chicken soup. The soup had lots of corn and hardly any chicken.
Moving on to the starters.....The Kingfish rawa fry was way too salty. the prawn masala fry was good but nothing extraordinary and the waiter had recommended a chicken starter (can't recall the name of that), which was TERRIBLE!! It felt like the chicken was cooked in chilli paste only. It left my entire mouth burning and no amount of water seemed to make it better.
For main course we had Chicken Vindalo witn Butter Naan which was eually torturous.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to go to Star Light

OMG Thinking of this place only makes your mouth water. My brother Rohit Mate recommended this place to us after each time we go to Goa we go here.
I love everything here Masala Fried Kalamari/Pompfret/Crabs everything. The beauty of this place is, its not fancy at all. Over the couple of years they must have change furniture a bit but otherwise its typical local Goan roadside eatery.

Many years back say around 8 to 9 may be this place was the place to be amongst local goans around baga.
If you are on Baga anjuna road the outside one them don't miss the place its just before the football ground.
Now after renovation they have made the place quite modern looking but I do miss the old rustic place with plastic chairs and tables and fish smell coming out of kitchen.
You want to eat fish at throwaway prices go to this place. Their crab and kalamari is to die for.
Easy on your pockets with cheap alcohol and local taste this one is definite visit next time ur on that way.
If you stay somewhere near baga then don't miss their daily lunch service and it is extremely delicious.
Cheers.

The food is excellent here and at very affordable prices. Try the Prawn Masala and Vindaloo. For vegetarians try Veg xacuti and bhindi masala.
A must visit in Goa!

Expecting so much from this restaurant but unfortunately. Food was not upto the mark at all. You have to ask for every thing. Ver sizzler was yuk. It was totally smell like Raw fish. I hated so much. I will not comment on chicken sukkha which is Goan dish. Becuase never had it in my life so might be that was best one but I didn't like it.

Good good, decent prices, helpful staff and what more could you ask for?!ambience and location and can be done a little better, but frankly nothing to complain about. :)

I asked Goans where to find the best crab in Goa and they they referred me here. And boy! They did not disappoint. The best masala crab you will have ever. Fresh and perfectly cooked. I loved their Mackerel fry as well. Other foods are decent as well but seafood is their specialty.

Highly recommended for seafood.

Ordered vegetarian and food was OK.

I also ordered for a couple of beers and the guy said that it would be for 50 per pint and I agreed. Eventually I got a printed bill of 415 and add on of 100 for the beer and 100 for delivery charges! The last two were off bill.

I called the restaurant to complain about the irregularities and was then asked to pay 50. This is unscrupulous and daylight robbery.

These guys seem to think since tourists are temporary , fleecing is alright. Well, it is not and you now know why.

When in GOA, eat like the Goans do!

We had the much renowned fish thali, which had everything, just perfect.
We devoured the chicken masala and crab masala as well. Perfectly spiced.
Tried the calamari squid rings for the first time.
Exemplary, authentic seafood taste.
Light on your pockets too.
Not a seafood type of person, but definitely won't miss an opportunity to visit here again.

Ambience - 3
Food - 3.5
Value for money - 4

I have never heard of a Goan Dhaba however got to experience one during my last visit to Goa. A simply no frills joint that serves some REALLY good food at some even REALLY good price. It is completely away from the hustle & bustle of crowded beaches & shacks and much more affordable. This is surely going to be one place I will visit every time I am in North Goa.

What a great place to be in when you're in Goa. Never ever forget to try the fish Thali, prawns rava fry and mussels rava fry.. These will just melt your tastebuds. Worth every single penny.

An absolute must if you are in the area.
Stick to Goan food. Tell them specifically you want it Goan style. Sea food is delicious.
What is a surprise is their Rava bhindi and yellow dhal.
Service is typical Goa. Slow and smiley. No complaints.
Ambiance - 5 *Perfect dhaba kind of a setup, Simple servers very unsophisticated, Good crowd unlike some of the other local dhabas*
Food - 5 * Chicken xacuti with rice/roti is the best chicken curry ever, fish thalis are famous here, vindaloo and cafreal chicken dishes are also worth a try*
Service - Very friendly staff and good suggestions, quick service

Disappointing place for the amount of popularity it commands. Maybe a great place from people coming from out of station. But for a guy like me who's had almost everywhere that matters in goa, it was sad. Location is fabulous and so is the service. But the crab curry was pathetic. Nothing Goan about it at all. Onion tomato gravy with totally confused flavours.
Fish thali had Surmai day, she'll fish, squid masala, cabbage and curry!! Surmai fry was average. Curry was good, not bad at all. Rest was average. Worst was instead of chapati tandoori Roti is served with thali which is a total put off. Who in this world has tandoori Roti with Goan food??!
