Review Johncy Bar & Restaurant - Benaulim

Makarand S Bedekar
Johncy sits right at the beach. The food is good . Goan items should be tried for sure. Desserts have a good amount of options, which is not the case with many restaurants. Superb beach views if you get a seat along the beach line. That's the happening area, to enjoy cool breeze and food, drinks.

Beautiful ambience , perfect location, excellent service and good live entertainment. We ordered Butter garlic Prawns, Chilly Crabs, Masala Rava Fried King Fish and Chicken Haka Noodles everything was awesome. Our waiter Anuj took time to understand our order and requests. Also the food was served in a timely manner. Definitely will like to revisit again

Great ambience and local food. It’s a Sunday afternoon and no wonder lot of locals visited the place. We been looking for a proper Goan food and we found it here. Although couple of food weren’t up to the mark but things to call out are prawns butter garlic, pork sausages chilly fry, beef fry, chicken lollipop, watermelon feta cheese and veg spring rolls. Prices aren’t high, best for a peaceful long afternoon time with friends and family. Special call-out for pineapple basil martini.

We went over to Johncy’s in a group on a Saturday. We were entertained by live music. The food is well presented, not too spicy and the service needs a special shout out. We were very well taken care of, and that makes all the difference to the experience, of course in addition to good food. We asked for customisations here and there due to intolerances that were very well received and implemented. They have plenty of seating - indoor, on a patio and then directly on the beach too. If you want to walk in the sandy beach, which you can, Id recommend wearing flip flops (no fancy shoes). Their washroom facilities were also clean so that scores a point too. I would highly recommend Johncy’s and will definitely visit again.

This restaurant is right on the beach with great Ocean view. They have exhaustive drinks and food menu. Beer on tap was my favourite. I missed to order sizzlers which seems to be their speciality

Just supremely tasty food. We had a heavy breakfast but still so much lunch here. This place is better than all the places we have visited. Right on the beach and food is to die for. All the dishes we ordered were excellent. Must visit place

The food is delicious. The restaurant is on the beach. The experience of savouring your meal with a breathtaking beach view and tasty food is exceptional. Tried calamari batter fry, butter garlic prawns, chicken crispy, mixed fried rice. All the items were scrumptious. Would recommend the Chilly Chicken and Chicken Crispy.

Limited food menu , the taste and quantity was food. Food tried over 2 lunches and 1 dinner 1. Butter Garlic Prawns 4/5 2. Butter naan 6/5 ( must try) 3. Chicken xacuti gravy and semi gravy - 3.5/5 4. Chilly chicken dry -4/5 5. Roasted Masala Papad - 5/5 6. Green salad - 3.5/5 Good beach view, attentive servers. But you need to ask for the finger bowl if you want

The perfect beachside restaurant u looking for. The Chinese food was far better than the goan seafood. We only had starters and no main course. Recommended to stick to Chinese only.

The restaurant has Great views of the beach, lovely good and courteous staffs. Highly recommend the prawns curry and rice, rechado bhangda. The service was prompt as well.

When in Benaulim don't miss to visit this calm joint which is just beside beach parking area. August end Review....Usually not crowded and hence we got a Beach view table. Mocktail🍹 was nice and variety of cocktail 🍹available. We ordered Butter garlic prawns 🍤which was perfectly cooked and tasty (could not avoid licking our fingers 😜). French fries was super and went well with the drinks and cocktail. The service is super fast and the quantity served was more for the two of us. Lastly we topped off with manchow soup. The menu card offer a lot of varities to suit one's palate. Good Seaview tables, fast service and good food to share among family and friends are key notes at this restaurant.

Johncy is an oceanfront restaurant with tables laid on the beach serving Goan as well as other cuisine. It is quite popular during tourist season, and they have a Crooner singing popular numbers on some days. We enjoyed dining there during our visit in March after a nice walk along the beach. We enjoyed their VAT69 and Red Sangria as drinks, with Fish Finger for starters and Prawn Sizzlers with BBQ Sauce for dinner. On another visit relished their famous Prawn Rice with Goan Curry. The dishes were fresh, well cooked, authentic and delicious.

One of the best places to relax in South Goa. Great ambiance, right on the beach to experience the sunset and direct sea breeze. Food taste and quality is very good only the portions could be a little more for some dishes (squids). Great selection of cocktails and drinks and all this is priced on par for beach shacks.overall excellent place to hangout

I was in impression that no one can beat Martin's in Goa....but after reaching here I was amazed how well these people are managing and raising the standards very well day by day. I was here for my wife's BIRTHDAY celebration and few Drinks 🍸 Trust me guy's this place is a must visit. Especially if you are a NonVeg lover and that too Sea food lover 😋. As per location view and ambience is nice it's a sea facing. Owner and manager were very humble guy's who will help to make your decision better and let you enjoy your time to the fullest.

Beautiful place to chill by the sea. Great pricing as it is not over priced like the other seaside restaurants. The have indoor, verandah and beach seating arrangements as per your liking. The have a vast variety of food and drinks to choose from and the service too is quite prompt. They also have live karaoke in the evenings. The restaurant is also strict with its hygiene and cleanliness and has well kept restrooms too.

Lovely location. Not happy with the toilets. It was dirty. Can be improved and kept clean Excellent food and service.

Can not only see the sea but also hear the ocean. Good friendly people with good food. I liked my veg vindaloo. Wife loved the fried fish. Kid liked pasta. All in all good experience. Besides the fact it is on the beach it's very easy parking and accessible.

Went there for lunch

Food 3/5
Ambiance 4/5
Hygiene 2/5
Service 5/5
Prices 4/5

One time visit restaurant, beat was cheese chilly garlic naan ...!! And spicy chk wings ( state was good but not spicy at all , I don’t know why they call it spicy chk wings ) . Ambiance ( view ) was the only thing which can get u back at this restaurant.

Johncy is the which consistently serves best food on Benaulim beach. It has good sea facing view and their food compliments the view.

We ordered calamari chilly which was loaded with veggies but was delicious. Calamari was cooked well, soft and juicy and not rubbery at all.
Next up was crab, which was stuffed in crab shell and again very delicious and extremely presentable.

We have been here multiple times, and it has never disappointed.

Food 3.5
Service 4
Ambience 4
Cost 3.5
Overall 3.5

Do not go to Johncy. The service at Johncy is pathetic. They were very rude and acted as if they were doing us a favor by serving us food. They don't realise that toursit customers like us is the reason they make money. Do not go to Johncy.

JOHNCY

Location📍: Benaulim Beach, South Goa.

We visited this place on Christmas night. It was packed with locals and tourists. They usually have live music performance on weekends and so was it on Christmas night.

Joint to the beach side, it sure attracts a lot of customers to dine side by enjoying the beauty of the ocean. They serve delicious Goan food.

We ordered:
Chicken 65
Pork Chilly Fry
French Fries (Chips)
Crispy Chilly Chicken

Mocktails:

Fruit Punch
Pin a bull
Virgin Mojito

Should dine in this place if you are near by the area.
Though it was a busy night, the service was quick.

Ambience: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Service: 4/5
Food: 4/5

Nice place to chill with a few drinks and appetizers. Good service. There was some renovation going on on one side, nothing too bothersome. Cannot point to any specific dish or item as a must try, but good experience overall.
Vishal Asrani
Average breakfast. Not upto the mark. Stale bread and coleslaw salad. Would have expected better service and cooperative staff.

No one should see this.. tan tadan taaan.. tan tadan taaan.. tan tadan taaan.. tan tadan taaan..
Ps : Ref Jhon Cena 😋
Horrible experience.. worst service.. bad food.. expensive 🙄

Worst service. We went as a group of 10 and ordered 2 rounds of starters already. When asked to clear the table and change the plates, the waiter makes an irritated face and asks us to use the existing plates. Upon insisting more, he unwillingly cleared everything and literally slammed each plate back on the table.

Taste-wise, starters are pretty mediocre and manageable. The main course didn't have any taste whatsoever. Ordered prawns fried rice. The prawns were not cleant well (they were maybe not cleant at all). No salt, no flavor.

👎🏼 A big big bummer for me to go as a group and get disappointed
Dimple Java
Seated right in front of the sea, sipping on a sangria eating tasty food! What else to ask for when in Goa. The quality, quantity and taste of food is wow.
Malcolm Kapadia
Hope less service waited for 1.50 hrs for our food half came then for 1 hr nothing so many people had similar issues n people left the place eating half their food please do not go here service is pathetic
Shruti Dhamangaonkar
Good vibe. Had quick breakfast. The pomegranate juice was exceptionally good. Omlette was decent. Chicken cheese tomato sandwich was okay-ish.
Service is a bit slow, but the view compensates for it.
Overall good. Ambience wise, better than Pedro's that's right next to it.

We stopped over for a round of drinks. The schezwan chicken was pretty good. The view is amazing. A great place to have your food by the sea!

Good food cool sea breeze young crowd nice staff fancy lights

The staff don't care about customers, they make shitty food, they dont accept cards below 500₹, they need customers they get loads, even if bad reviews are there

Summary, just avoid this place! Food was awful and tasteless, either because it was stale or re-cooked or both, tried but couldn’t eat enough to pin the actual problem. Came hungry but left disheartened and hungry ...

Visited this place during monsoon time.. Was one of the few beach shacks which was actually open in this season at benaulim Beach.

We had ordered chicken tandoori, fries and a mushroom tikka starter to go with some chilled ones.

Chicken tandoori was really good, the masala had a nice taste to it

Mushroom tikka was delicious, nicely stuffed!!

Overall a good place to chill and dine, next to the ocean.

Nishesh Saxena
Nice view. Its beach facing which provides a good view along with soothing breeze in the open sitting area.

Negatives:
The food/starters were pathetic. Garlic prawns were half cooked. Cesar salad had very less veggies and was just stacked up with oily bread crumbs.
The service was lazy and we had to repeat the orders multiple times.
Anoop R
Restaurant by the beach, spacious and well organised. The service was very quick, friendly staff. Loved the cocktails, it was well balanced. The food portions too were very generous. Totally recommended this place near Benaulim.

Nice place to star gaze and have lovely Goan food... even the vegetarian food is great. Visited with some vegetarian friends and the cook made some delicious potato chat for them.

Jhoncy is definitely one of the better places to be in benaulim... Ordered Allo Pollo (chicken pasta in red sause - penne) and a fish sizzler... The food was amazing, the ambience is ok... The servers could have been more cheerful.. I ges they were understaffed owing to it being off season... However, food wise and ambience wise it was very good... Just hoped if they could keep open post 3 pm to serve drinks as they close post 3 pm and then again open in the evening. Definitely a place to visit in benaulim
Pallavi Seth
Situated right on the Benaulim beach with an awesome view of the sea, this place has some amazing food to offer. We were here for a lazy rainy afternoon lunch.
We had ordered fish fingers, non veg pasta and fish sizzler and lots of beer.
The food tastes amazing along with the perfect ambience. Would surely recommend.
Pranav Nadkarni
Dont go there for the food. Very sweet butter chicken and a clueless veg crispy. The view of the ocean and proximity to the ocean provided a relaxed setting. But no point spending on good. One may be disappointed.

#long review.
Rating
Service : (0/10)
Experience : (0/10)
Food : (0/10) because didn't want to have food after the service we got.

To start of need to say that, this is the worst place i have visited in south goa.

Heard a lot about this place but it was a big disappointment for us , wanted to stay here till the sunset and have dinner, but after the service and attention we got , we decided to leave after ordering 1 drink, we wanted to have a word with manager but were told that he will come at 8.30 in evening.

The staff is very rude and doesn't care what the guest wants.

When asked for feedback form we were given a pencil to feed it, when asked for a pen we were denied, attaching the pic of the feedback form.
Rating

Service is beyond shit. Waiters are impolite. Manager is absent. Please do not visit this place. Was going to have dinner here but left right after the drinks cause of horrible service. Better visit Rogers.

Visited last week for dinner to this popular place on Benaulim beach. We opt for outdoor seating area facing the sea. It usually has live music performance on weekends so during dinner time the place was quite busy. The service was quite fast at fast but with time it became slower and we have to wait for more than 40 mins just for a matka kulfi. 😒
Anyway, coming to the food, we had batter fried calamari and crispy chili chicken. Both are equally good, calamaris were fresh and less chewee as per its size👍. Recommendable. For mains we opt for non veg pasta in pesto sauce. It was good with a ample amount of chicken. Fulfilling.
Pocket pinch: along with two soft drinks and one matka kulfi it come nearly Rs.950.
Karan Kulkarni
Absolutely dirty place. 0% attentive staff. Rude and impolite waiters, in short an overall waste of space.
0/5 stars. The waiters need immediate replacement. Poor show.

Was at this place with a friend 2 days back.. Totally loved the ambiance.. Sitting right at the beach whilst enjoying great food n drinks..

We ordered
* butter garlic squids
* masala fried chonok (fish)
* butter garlic squids

Now you might wonder why I have written butter garlic squids twice... That is coz we had to order it twice as the 1st time we were served batter fried squids tossed in some butter n loads of garlic.. Which was decent but not what we were expecting and definitely not how most of goa serves the 'butter garlic squids'. We though we were served the wrong dish.. When we brought this up with our waitstaff.. We were told that it was how they made it.. Fair enough... We then told them to make it the regular way.. Explaining exactly how we wanted it.. step by step procedure of how to make it (one if us is a chef n the other a hard core food enthusiasts).. But alas.. We just could not get them to make it right.. There was hardly any garlicor butter.. We could just taste pepper and green chilly.. We left the place a little exasperated with the whole situation that I forgot to have my dessert (coconut pudding) that I ordered in the very beginning and even they forgot to serve.

Apart from this everything else was great.. The drinks were yum and so were the other dishes..

Loved this restaurant so much that I went again the very next day. The menu options are plenty and service is quick. Pricing is great, so is the taste. Right on the beach with huge seating area. Love to go back again

Sunday spent well! The Masala Rawa Prawns and Chilly Chicken Goan style along with a glass of beer saves you from the summer heat. Must try!

Food is good but the waiters treat Indians like sh#t and once they even asked us to vacate the table so they can accommodate a foreigner. As if we were not paying for our food. All I want to say to the restaurant staff is that Don't forget you are in India.

We have been to joncy’s earlier, so visited this place again. But totally disappointed by their service now and also the quantity of food has reduced drastically. We ordered for chicken barbecue sizzler and seafood platter. It was not worth it. And quantity was not sufficient for two. Yes they have the best cheese garlic naan. & Their deserts are must have. Specially the brownie with icecream.
Nithin Santhosh
Probably the most iconic of food joints in the Benaulim area!Everyone from South Goa knows where Johncy's is and has been here at least once. The food and drinks options available are pretty wide and is enough to keep anyone happy.
We tried Prawns Rava Fry and King Fish Rava Masala Fry, both were very well done. The feel of the rava was not overpowering the masala taste or the fish flavor. They did this one right.Tried Gimlets to go as drinks. They were pretty decent as well. Dal Fry and Steamed rice were good as well.
And the pricing kept all of us happy with no surprises.
Service was proper with not a lot of time spend waiting for the food or drinks.Definitely, will be back anytime I come to this side of Goa.
Also, they take card payments which I am sure a lot of you out there will appreciate.

Ok. 3 stars when you compare it on its own. But if you put this against the shacks around, it’s a winner. It’s not only affordable but the food (all the cuisines) are amazingly good. I’m a little embarrassed writing this but the best thing they served was the cheese garlic Naan. It just tasted so damn good. And the usual Goan fare was undoubtedly good. So, just blindly grab a seat here and enjoy the food. Service can be a bit slow but that’s true for every shack.
Keith Lobo
View is excellent.
Food is ok.
Staff is not prompt.
Slow service
Butter garlic prawns was nice.
Drinks sound cheap but once the taxes r added it comes up to the same amount in any other shack.
Not worth
Yogita
One of our favourite place in benaulim.
The seafood is always fresh. The fish fingers, fry fish and calamari was good. The chicken tikka was good too. The shack ambience is nice.

I Like to visit many places but I like to visit Johncy There ambience was very best and there staff very good I order crab tomato soup and I really like it

This is the 2nd time our order was not taken by waiters.
They need indian tourist who drink . We have to move to other place after sitting there for 15 mins.

Great food and hospitable staff. Beach front shack serving a wide variety of food. We visited them thrice during out stay and they did not fail to disappoint. My must visit place in Goa!!
Vanessa Pereira
Been here twice in a row. Its a very good place with karaoke night. Staff service is excellent. Must try the Prawn Butter Garlic starter. They have a very good menu capturing almost every Goan dish. Made my trip to goa very memorable.
Ayushi Kothari
Worst experience in South Goa, non responsive and Abusive staff, no one cares to attend to you, on asking about our water bottle waiter replied us to look in trash and find out, he also abused... Benaulim is nice place but experiences like these makes you not visit the place again.
Jayaraj Purad
Located at very good place.
Management is very poor.
Food is good.
And very slow service (when minimal guests were there)
Yes, good place to enjoy the beach view and chilled 🍺
Siddhi Karadkhedkar
This is where my love affair of fish started 🙈 I have had the best kingfish rava fry here. They have it pretty fresh and their preparation is also good. Staff is not very Friendly. I had only pasta in veg food and it was okay. The ambience and fish make up for everything I feel!
Sushreeta Subudhi
Have been here many times and the service as well as the food is the same everytime. Love their chicken Tikka masala and the cheese naan and the crab xec xec.

Johncy's being one of the very few beach shacks in benaulim is great to sit back, enjoy couple of drinks and relax.
Recently i was on a vacation to south goa and happen to visit this place for dinner and a couple of drinks.Since this place is a popular one, its better to get in early as one would find it difficult to get a table later. Okay so they have some limited seats facing the beach, mostly table for 4's and some on the inside if you are in large group.
So we had decided to have a full fish fry or full crab, so i told the staff to show what size they have it available (I was specifically looking for Red Snapper). The staff were so lost that i had to remind them twice to bring it. After 2 reminders they finally brought it and we decided to have the red snapper.
The staff offered me 3 different options - Goan spices, Tawa fry & Butter garlic and he even suggested if i would like to do a half n half, which was quite a surprise. Finally i opted for half goan spice and half tawa fry. Once the order was placed i was told that it would take 30-40 mins to arrive, but it arrived almost 60-70 mins later, thanks to the beers in the interim.
The fish was amazing. It was garnished so nicely with all the salad and the french fries. The goan spices were superb giving the fish a tangy taste. The rawa tawa fry was well cooked with the rawa being very crispy. The fish was almost a foot long and was sufficient for 2.
The service was not as expected (would lose a point on that) but the food was amazing.

Food - 9/10
Service - 6/10
Ambience - 9/10

Johnsy restaurant staff is very rude. When entered restaurant, gave last order, thereafter without his servings completion asked for bill payment. Before that asked give sauce or schezwan chutney with veg hakka noodles. Not ready to give. For everything answer was kitchen closed. Within a minute of his serving kitchen got closed. I aaked cleaner in the same resto for sauce, he briught it. Issue was of that person attitude. Bakwas food and rude service. Dont try to get in there. Waste of money.

We had lunch at Johncy few days back. It's a beach restaurant so you can obviously see the beach while having the delicious food.
We ordered prawns chilly as starter along with Seafood soup and Goan curry with king fish. Prawns were bit spicy but tasty and Goan curry was up to the standards. Soup preparation was Chinese style but it was still worth it. We bought king fish butter garlic preparation as take away which was again flavoursome. The staff were a bit confused and unattentive. But the overall experience was satisfying and I would recommend to be there once if you have visited all other highly rated places in South Goa.
Thilak Kumar
Nice place to sit back and enjoy food and drinks. The ambiance is good with beach front and friendly service. We tried Goan calamari, chicken tandoori and prawns and it'sreally good.
Inam
We did not think that restaurant cares much about the customers... Service is slow and waiters are rude ! Probably, only their location saves them.
Shivdas Nair
We had a very bad experience with this place, we were having our lunch and the restaurant closed down! Which is quite normal but the most astonishing part was they locked the washroom and non of the staff present were ready to open it for us inspite of being their guests and having paid a heavy bill. We had women in our group who had to suffer a lot because of such a pathetic attitude from the staff. As much the location and food might be good this guys have absolutely no regards for their own customers once they close down. I wouldn’t recommend this if you are with a family and plan on waiting a bit longer to enjoy the view. Highly disappointed with this guys and I don’t think I will ever visit them again. I wish the review allowed something lesser than 1 star.
Chintan Gala
Only thing Good about the place is location as it is facing the beach. Service is also average.
Food was horrible. We order for a masala papad and was a disaster
Govind J
What a horribly dirty place with lack of service and extremely bad service by the waiters here. We went in a group of eight and ordered beers and juice. The beer was given to us in half an hour and the juice took one hour. That also when the place was empty. To raise agony, we ordered chicken spring rolls and they gave us veg roll. When we objected they told us they can not change it to chicken spring roll as we are three pieces. We didn’t have xray machines with us unfortunately. Anyway left the place the moment out beer finished. Spoilt two hours of our day. Avoid it and go at your own risk!!!
Krishnendu Munda
Huge attitudinal problem of the waiters, spoiling the ambience of the place and mood of the customers... Food quality varies too. Need huge improvement.

Johncy is a shack/casual dining place located in south goa at benaulim beach. It has a seaview with a nice ambience. They also play good live music for their guest. I went with my group of friends for a short trip. The local people recommended this place for it's food & ambience.

Drinks Ordered:
Kings Beer
Coconut Fenny
Cashewnut Fenny

Food Ordered:
Kingfish
Stuffed Crab
Prawns Xacuti with Rice
Fish Curry with Rice

Dessert Ordered:
Sizzling Brownie with Ice Cream
Bebinca

Both Coconut & Cashewnut Fenny had a strong flavour. Fenny is the local drink of Goa. Kingfish had a great taste, we all really enjoyed it. We didn't like the crab much as it wasn't worth eating. Fish Curry was fine in taste. We all really enjoyed the Prawns Xacuti with rice as it had a great flavour and taste. Desserts were really tempting & delicious. Staff was friendly & courteous. Overall had a good experience at this place.

This picture doesn’t do justice to the many meals we’ve eaten here at Johncy’s!!!
The Prawn Pulao and Rava Friend Mussels scream Goaaaa! The Prawns in the Pulao were cooked to perfection!
The Prawn Masala and Garlic Naan is a must have too!
We have NEVER been disappointed at Johncy’s.
Rudra Agarwal
Great place in South Goa for seafood, recommended the King Fish, Crab and Prawn Xacoti curry. Prices are standard and portions are decently sized. Staff is hospitable. Should put on checklist for South Goa visits.
Subin Subaya
The location - nice as it is bang on the beach.
The service - unresponsive and bad.
The food - very average.

Would I go back? Definitely not!
Kartik Nagarajan
We reached this place hungry and needy of goan food. Loved the fish rachado, butter garlic prawns and goan prawns curry.
The fish rachado was cooked to the perfection and the masala was amazing.
The butter garlic prawns was very tasty. The prawns we're well cleaned.
Goan prawns curry did not disappoint us.
Drinks - Pinacolada was outstanding.
When in South Goa do visit this beautiful restaurant on the benaulim beach. This is a beautiful shack on the beach with some amazing music , beautiful ambience and a beach view. Sitting there u can see the sea and amazing their amazing variety of food. We had panner chilly, kingfish butter garlic fry, sizzling browine , the Goan dessert and chicken caferal and prawns curry rice.
Description of the things we had in order the way I liked them.
1.Chicken caferal
This was one of the best chickens I have had till date, chicken was properly cooked in a green gravy and it was way too amazing in taste. This is definitely a must try.
2. Kingfish
The fish was really fresh and it was juicy and tender which was fried in butter garlic. The taste was good and the fish was totally satisfying.
3. Paneer chilly
As we all know Chinese is all time favorite so paneer chilly was really tasty and paneer was fresh.
4.Sizzling chocolate brownie with ice cream
The brownie was burnt and one could get that flavor, the chocolate sauce was too less and the ice cream was only for name sake. This thing is a BIG NO.
5. Goan desert
Goan pancakes with coconut and jaggery as quoted in the menu. This was a very thin pancake with a filling of grated coconut and jaggery mixture but the problem was they had mixed sugar as well in the mixture and that made them taste bad.
6. Prawns curry and rice
This is a typical Goan dish the curry is made in the Goan style . Here the curry was very liquidy and salty. If u want to have this dish than please do not have it here.

Sea side restaurant. Food is average and service is not that good. Staff do not have appropriate behaviour. Drinks are decent. Did not have a good experience.
Aditya Raj Gontia
Being here I really missed baga, we have so good restaurants there, the seating was so good just opposite to the sea.

This was also located on the beach but that spark was missing, though place was packed. I wanted the table outside but people who had occupied those were not ready to leave 😁 what's the point of being around sea and not sitting and eating close to it.

The ambiance was good, staff was decent.

Coming to the food, we ordered chilly paneer, chiken tikka, noodles accompanied with beer.
Food was good with drinks but was not benchmark.

The meal was closed with banana pancake and sizzling brownie topper with Ice-cream.
As usual in a hurry I burned my tongue with hot chocolate.
It was not worth eating, brownie was over done.

Overall average place to spend a evening.
Pranit Bhure
Serene beach, cold beer and a plateful of steak! This place was truly a surprise for me, since its a shack I wasn't expecting it to be that amazing but it was! The steak cut like butter and the fries were crunchy, like more crunchy than any that I've ever had! The sandy flooring was the only drawback in my favor.

This place deserve 5 star rating no matter what!
Amazing food, service and ambiance.
I was here last week on a holiday at south goa and one local person suggested to visit here for dinner.
Without checking other outlet we landed trusting to be good.
This place is bang on the beach and has sit out area where you can enjoy the view (day time) and sound of waves during evening/night time.
I had come here for dinner and enjoyed the music, sound of waves and morever the meal.
Meal was fantastic. mouth watering king fish rava fry and red snapper masala fry was tasty to the core.
The service was so quick and prompt. we dint have to remind for our order as it was completely full.
Later ordered for Sizzler and then ended on sweet note "Bebinca" the goan delicacy.
Service - 5/5
Food - 5/5
Ambiance - 5/5
Since south goa is the silent place but it is cover up with restaurant like these.
Please do visit here with your loved ones.
Do book your table in advance for beautiful view

We went during off-season, this place is suggested by almost everybody cause it’s overlooking the beach. Fish fingers were really good. Fish sizzler not so great . All in all an okay taste.

Wednesday night dinner after hectic work. Johncy was definitely a relaxing place to eat and booze. Services are good and staff was kind. A restaurant right in front of Benaulim Beach makes it more attractive.

We went there randomly. But we were surprised to find this place. Food was amazing ..no kiddin. We ordered fish fry and prawn noodles. That was some platinum level food. And drinks were equally top notch..this restaurant is run by people who give a damn about good food. Location is brilliant. Must visit in goa.

We wanted to the go to Rogers, which was adjacent and sadly they shut at 3pm, so we ventured here.

The restaurant has a bright ambience, with several tables, which am sure would look attractive during season, but at that hour, we were the only patrons.

I ordered a Goan sunset cocktail (coco feni with orange juice), which was ok.

To eat we had a prawn papad, fish in garlic butter and another fish in a Recheado sauce, along with rice.

The papad rolls were a wee bit soggy, but decent. While the fish was fresh, I found the Recheado too spicy, while the garlic butter was not bad.

Service was pretty quick and must mention that the bathrooms were so clean!

Average food & pathetic service. Location is good with beach view. But the wine they serve is not of good standards. Egg salad was ok, fried cashew nuts and prawn noodles were good. Service must be improved.

Went to this place as we were staying in benaulim, we sat outside to get the beach experience and it was quite a worth. The food was good. Service was good and so was the ambience.
Goenchefood
Good place for tourist as the services are very slow, they can enjoy the breeze in the meanwhile. Hope they improve there service.

Talking about food -good quality with less quantity. 😛

Nice place to have food by the beach. It had good view. Sea food here was good. Crab curry with Goan preparation was really nice.
Staff was good.

Amazing place for Goan food
Well if you are in South Goa, this is a must visit place. It's somewhat like a beach shack but a huge one right facing the sea.
Prawns tandoori and red snapper fry is something one should not miss here. They also serve amazing goan curry (especially fish) which is perfectly made. The staff is courteous and friendly.

The worst place to be in Goa. Very very bad service. We were not even entertained at the restaurant and we were the first customers and were very conveniently shooed off. Disgusting attitude of the waiters ! Went with a lot of expectations but highly disappointed. Never to go to this place again.

Food quality and quantity was ok. I am giving this rating because of the service. Worst service I have ever seen. Waiters are very rude. You will end up paying lot of money for ok food and pathetic service.

A shack type restaurant on Benaulim beach offers a wide variety of cuisine which is difficult to ignore.
Recommended by our friends in Goa was worth a visit.
Very wide variety of menu and the beach view leaves you a great experience which you will remember for long

It’s lovely being on this stretch of benaulim beach.

Perfect location of the restaurant and great service.

This place is open thru out the year and only shut that I remember is GOOD FRIDAY.

Food from veg to non-veg is good, wince we stayed close by we use to visit nearly everyday and sometimes just order beer and sit whilst the lovely monsoon breeze use to tease us to have more beer.

Chicken main courses in North Indian are good, also Chinese main courses is decent but mainly North Indian and Goan Cuisine is good over here.

The servers are all happy to help and suggest, food is prompt so once you order don’t need to wait that long.

For all Dog lovers they have a dog called Motu like a mix breed of a stray and lab, he has his own temperament but really chilled out, he has been vaccinated so don’t worry.

Our go to place whenever we are in Goa. The location is great. The food is quite decent. The service is fast and the staff efficient. Basically a place to chill out by the Benaulim beach. Trying them out is highly recommended.

Worst hospitality , the waiters don't have any sense to treat their customers, the restaurant shuts at 3pm and after reaching there by 2:30pm the waiters comes after 15 mins and tells that the restaurant is closed ... What a way to treat customers ..... Never going to come back to this restaurant and will not suggest this place to anyone.
We visited this place for a late lunch. Getting a table was not a hassle as there was not much crowd at that time. The view here is amazing as it is right on the beach front.

We ordered prawns masala fry, fish fingers, king fish fry, chicken salad and fish gravy with butter roti. All the dishes were perfectly cooked and met our expectations. We also ordered caramel pudding which was not that great and can be skipped.

The only negative was the super slow service - it took them almost 40 minutes (on average) to serve us in dish. Also, none of the staff members looked interested or bothered in taking down the orders and ensuring that we are served on time. If they improve on this front, this would be a great place and definitely worth a second visit.

Knives N Forks Monologues
A superb restaurant or a shack with splendid view. It’s a sea shack overseeing the waves. Great food, decently priced. This restaurant was recommended for great sea food n yes it still tall on all its claims. We hand ordered fish n chips, tandoori prawns, rawa fried prawns, prawn biryani n fried rice all dishes were great tasting. Service is prompt. The best part is the location on Benaulim beach.

When you like to have dinner on a busy sunday, next to the sea, you come to live in my place. You just need to choose a restaurant, get up and walk to it.
Johncy is located right on Benaulim beach and has a beautiful sea view.
Sunday nights are packed regardless of the off season.
Well, we ordered for some chilly paneer to start with.
It was better than other places around.
Then we ordered for cheese garlic naan. Now this was not upto the mark. There was hardly any cheese in it.
There was Karaoke going on which kept the place abuzz.
You can try this place once.

A perfect place by the beach with some soothing breeze and the sound of waves. The Ambience also gives a goykar feel. I ordered squids batter fry, mussels rawa fry, prawns curry and chonak fry. First of all the service was really slow, Even when the place was not crowded. Secondly, the prawns curry tasted like the coconut used was not so fresh and gave a different taste. Thirdly, they need to put more salt for the fried items as they feel tasteless because of less salt.
The quantity served of the price is great. Perhaps quality is something they need to improve upon.

One star is more than what this restaurant deserves. We couldn't get to the meals as the waiter was being very disrespectful. Not expected from such a established restaurant.

One of the worst experiences ever in Goa !! Unprofessional staff, no courtesy and basic hospitality manners !! If I had a minus star id give the same. The worst waiter here was named Ashish. I totally wouldn’t suggest going here.

Johncy has gone from being one of the great places to eat at in south Goa to a very average tourist trap. The food is nothing to write home about (very contrary to a couple of years ago.) the service is well below average and the waiters are in a hurry to put food on your table and 15 minutes later ship you out.
The food lacks the authentic Goan flavour.... it’s just another run of the mill “multi cuisine” restaurant which specialises in Chinese Punjabi mughlai and also has a Goan specialty section in the menu.
With all due respect he food was not bad but the lack of authenticity scratches it of my must visit south Goa restaurants !
Not somewhere I would come back soon.

Place has pathetic food! Got food poisoning after having food from the place. Me and my friend went there after seeing reviews and recommendations, the ambience is good but the food is gross. We ordered for chilly pork, chilly chicken and chicken liver. The taste itself was not great at all no salt and not even spicy at all very blend though the menu writes very spicy for these food. Had a run to the toilet for two days after having food from there. Food is not hygienic and the capsicum and onion were more than the meat that we ordered. We thought the chicken and the pork would be fried but it was more like it was boiled and mixed with onions and lots of capsicum. Horrible experience. Never going there again .

So I’m a Goan. But I don’t stay in Goa. However I do visit home 2-3 tines a year. Johncy’s is a place I visit each time.

Situated on the beach front overlooks beautiful Arabian Sea, this place is perfect for for a beer on the beach.

Food: The food is amazing and 100% Goan. The butter calamari, Mussels and fish fingers are a must have. They also have Beer pitchers at Rs. 200 which would make you want to chug away!

Service: The Service is good. But then again you don’t need someone attending your beck and call while tour sipping you Beer !

Ambiance: A beer on the beach. Need I say more! Look at the images for a better idea.

When in Goa, Go here!!

Love the location of the shack. Trust me, the waiters are totally unprofessional. Food too is not great, looked like it was just cooked for the sake of cooking. I will never visit or recommend this place to any one...

This restaurant in goa does not deserve any stars even if it has a best location . Had i been a foreigner i am sure i would not have been treated the way this restaurant treats its Indian Guests. Its a disgrace to be visiting this place . We decided to be non alcoholic and asked for a glass of water with ice . The restaurant out right refused us . They said we do not give ice with water . Is it not absurd. I wanted to laugh and thought it some kind of a joke or a prank but then the waiter started the ruse attitude and stuck to his stance of not serving ice with water . So i ordered fresh lime soda and asked him to pour some ice in fresh lime soda. He did that and then i told him to put some ice in water . And he refused again. He said its a policy that we do not serve ice with water and u may leave if u want to . I am 100% sure if it was a foreign client this kind of attitude would not have been there at all . After all i am proud to be an Indian and made sure that he gets me ICE . I he got us ICE when ever we asked him next . However , the next orders were always served with a frown and attitude and he clearly showed a displeasure of servicing us .

Although i dont like to write negative comments about any one however incident has forced me to that . When its off season and u have only Indians visiting, i think these restaurants should succumb to Indians and start realizing that Indians also spend money and want to have a good time .

My most regular shack in Goa. Visit it almost daily. Location, food options, pricing, service all are favorable.. recommended.
Only suggestion - offer better cocktails and beer choices..
