Review The Fatty Bao - Bengaluru

Great place for asian cuisine in indiranagar. The restaurant has great service and seats were comfortable to sit on. The baos were amazing and a must try. I liked them better than ramen. The starters were amazing as well. The desserts were top notch as well. Will suggest the lemon tart for desert. They don't have a lot of options for drinks with it mostly being wine based for alcohol options. The mead was sold out when I went to the restaurant. I would suggest this place if you are interested in asian cuisine.

Got a birthday treat there.. being a Chinese cuisine/ Asian cuisine fan, I was satisfied with all the dishes. All were really good, we ordered 3 kinds of bao - pork, chicken and beef , the veg dimsum , fried rice , noodles and chicken side dish( i really liked that coconut gravy). The staffs cooperated well . Only thing that can be improved there is the interior and the ambience. It is quite average.

The Food - Impressed. After the reading a few reviews I wanted to see it for myself. Well the restaurant is at the 3rd floor. Parking - Valet parking is available. Atmosphere - It's cozy and compact. Food - Expectations exceeded. Sushi - Top Notch 😋 Both veg and non veg. Gyoza - Amazing Taste. Ramen - One the best in house 😋 Prize - Slightly Expensive.

A lovely place to dine with family and friends. Good value for money. Staff are very cooperative and attentive towards the guest service. Had a nice experience. Will come back...

Had a good time with a dear friend. We ordered a few items only as we were not too hungry. What we ordered was tasty. The Bora Bora was good but the Sakura was tooo sweet ! The bao and the dim sums were standard. The restaurant itself was a little cramped for space and service was delayed . Overall it was a good experience as I was with a friend and we were not stretched for time.

Japanese cuisine here is on a different level. We tried their Prawn And Crab Bao, which was juicy spicy, and very filling. The ramen, for which we actually visited, wasn't as great as we expected. Refreshing and served hot, none the less. The sticky Jasmine rice wasn't sticky at all. Try going early at 7ish to get a seat of choice as the place gets crowded fast.

Some food are really yum. Drinks we tried sakura sakura n bora bora both were good. We also tried magic melons which s not that great but also expensive. Things to try are korean fried chicken Japanese cheesecake Chilli crab prawn bao (yum) My friend said fried rice is normal as any restaurant so we haven't tried it.

The food served at The Fatty Bao is super spicy and tasty. If you are a fan of Asian food then this is the place for you. The Bao buns are a must try. The ramens are also worth the price

They have lots of varieties in their menu either be doo or the drinks🍹. I loved their sushi and boas 🤤♥️ Their bao are a must try and you can ask them for any help if you are confused what to order. Over all had a good time their.

It's a nice cosy place. Food tastes the best. Tired their Egg plant bao, Korean fried chicken and Seafood Ramen. All dishes were just perfect. Definitely visit again. Valet parking available.

First time ordering for home delivery. The food tasted really good. The bao was too good and it was fresh made. Will order more for home delivery😁

Insensitive ! This was a pickup and the packaging was aweful. The entire food leaked while carrying and couldn’t not be consumed eventually.

Bao buns are worth a try here. They have a variety of dishes to choose from the menu. I would recommend trying bao buns of your choice. Tasty for the Indian palette. Ambience, service and the seating arrangement is done just right. Very comfortable place to dine with your friends and family.

A cute small cafe with one of the best ambience thats there in bangalore.
Went there to try the bao's which were not upto the mark.
Fell in love with the calamari ❤. They were perfect.
10/10 would recommend you to go and try the calamari

I didn’t try anything else apart from bao so I can’t really suggest anything else apart from bao.

This is one of those authentic places in town that you have got to try! The sushi in particular was exquisite, we also had the dim sums, ramen, wantons and bao. The food quality and taste overall was superb. Pick up a sangria of your choice to go with the food, loved the white wine sangria. 🙈
The highlight of the day was the dessert, this brick toast served with raspberry ice cream and macaroons. Extremely delectable! 💯

Momentous are the times when one walks into a bucket list restaurant. While the aesthetic is pleasing, the dim lighting however seemed to void my appetite a bit.

Service is decent, nothing particular about the same. The menu has a wide array of options and understandably that's why there's always a rush.

While the food was alright, it failed to live up to the standards as promised by both the reviews and the ratings. I cannot call the meal a bad experience, but it definitely left me wanting more.

I'd like to stop by again and hope that the place has picked up in the future maybe.
Went here with my aunty. The Mushroom & bellpepper bao was juicy, the bulgogi bao was also very nice. I had the 'Ramen via Malaysia' for main, and this was absolutely amazing. To top is off there was also a vegan dessert which was some sort of raspberry sorbet.

We love the food at fatty bao but when we ordered chicken dumplings - we found raw uncooked meat inside. This is unhygienic and dangerous. We tried ringing the restaurant to inform them but there was no response. Very disappointed to see the quality has dropped so low.

Excellent place for Japanese cuisine, had visited the there Mumbai's spot too. Loved there ambiance.
Had ordered for :
- Fish fried open Bao : Bassa fish with sriracha sauce, mayonnaise and pickled cucumber. What an amazing combo!!
-Prawn & garlic chive Dim sums which was so good and filling.
-Chicken rice which was served with broth & vegetables
-Fatty pho the best one so far. Black noodles Ramen tried for the first time turned out to be awesome.
And the last, the desert we had was there special cranberry & soy milk Parfait. Which was gluten free and was damn delicious.
Ambience 🛋🖼
Fatty bao has aced both, the inside cozy dining and pleasant rooftop setting. So on a weekend i went to fatty bao in Indiranagar with my friend for afternoon lunch as it is the best place for asian food😍.
So i ordered both food and drinks.
1.teriyaki glazed chicken bao
Whch was amazing in taste and the portion size was really good and it is a good starter to start with.
2.bbq chicken closed bao knwn as shengjian bao also which taste super yummy and the dips with them were very good and was pairing very well with the baos.
3.malaysian chicken kapitan curry with sticky rice which was perfect in terms of flavour and was pure bliss to a foodie.
4.green apple and basil sangria
As i am a big fan of sangria i wanted to try this green apple and basil flavour with white wine which was very refreshing.
5.dancing shrimps:whch is also a starter motor f shrimps whch was cooked perfectly with the asian sauces n was a perfect pair to my sangria
Overall my experience was amazing with this place in terms of food and drink.
Would love to try this place again soon...
Service..
The staff is very courteous and helpful in terms of telling about their menu..
Presentation of food was upto my expectations.
Pricing: the price are normal and for two it costed 3500 approximately with alcohol..

Have orders sushi from this place several times and undoubtedly i loved them every-time, so wanted to visit this restaurant in person.

Unexpectedly i got disappointed on visiting this place - the staff behaved strangely, there was no music playing as a result there was only the sound of the crowd chattering. So basically my rating is based on this experience.

Apart from these, the food was amazing. We ordered a variety of sushi, some teriyaki chicken bao and wine. I love their prawn tempura sushi roll the most!!

So much hype about this place, found it a major disappointment. Tried their Prawn Sushi, Pork Bao & Chicken n Pork Ramen. Three very average dishes. Definitely could do with some taste and flavor. The bao is supposed to be soft, this was not. The ramen had more oil than meat flavor.
Sanjay
The ramen here were delicious. It's a must try here. The nigiri sushi was also very good.
Sharon Rebeka
The MRP of the water bottle was 50 while they billed it for 125 which is definitely not reasonable. There is service charge attached to the water bottle price nd come price 😑

Although this place is super popular and the food is great tasting as well we were pretty disappointed on our third visit there a month ago. Upon arrival we were seated at one of the sofas and have a three month old baby so wanted to lay him down on the sofa and we saw that there was a dead cockroach on the sofa along with some dried food. Not only that there was also cockroaches which were on the table once we finished our food and were waiting for our bill. A restaurant of this quality needs to improve on its hygiene and ensure that atleast these aspects are taken care of. That was extremely disappointing.

These guys are all about the money.. we were a couple and the place was almost empty.. all we asked for is better seating to spend quality time..The waiter Ranjan was so impolite to even accommodate our request and suggested that the reviews that we give did not matter as they already have so many good ones.. Please take cognizance before visiting this place as they do not care about your experience..

Bland food , surprised it was rated 4.5

The Pickled Sangria was good. Definitely recommend it. Ordered ramen and dimsum, they were all good. But there is only 1 veg dessert option which is some wierd Berry crumble.

Others had Japanese cheese cake which they really liked.

Loved everything I tried here.

•CHILLI CRAB & PRAWN BAO - soft bao with perfect flavours. Recommended.

•SMOKED CHICKEN & SPINACH DIMSUMS - juicy and crunchy. The sauces / dips given with the dimsums are too good.

• SPICY SALMAN, CREAM CHEESE & CUCUMBER URAMAKI (sushi) - moist rice, good meat and well made sushi. Not spicy for Indian palate at all.

• TSUKEMEN RAMEN (chicken) - we ordered this with add-on of wild mushrooms and double chashu which is crispy pork. This dish won our hearts. Good quantity and amazing flavours. Must try!

• CHAMOMILE TEA- perfect accompaniment to a great meal

• To finish of this lovely dinner, we ordered the JAPANESE CHEESECAKE - so soft and yummy, every bite melts in your mouth.

Good service, worth a visit when you don't mind spending on great food. Ambience could be better lit, but that's negligible. Definitely going back to explore more from their menu.

The ambience is really dingy and has a very low vibe to it. I had travelled from the other side of the city to eat here, but I was utterly disappointed with the experience. To start with, even though I had a reservation, I was offered a really bad table. When asked if we could take a better placed table, I was told that it would not possible since it was reserved for someone else. All the while that we were there, about an hour, nobody occupied that table, while we struggled with our bad table. The food was average and the menu had no freshness to it. You can find the same menu at any other Asian restaurant. Even the flagship dish, the baos, were also only okay-ish. Not worth the hype.

The search for place to eat dumplings is over. If you love dumplings Bao and ramen you mushy try this place once for sure. This Pan Asian restaurant offer variety of dumplings from veg to non veg filling to choose and try. I ordered non veg dumpling it was delicious and came with sauces. I ordered red sangria and fresh orange juice it was good. Dessert was cheesecake it was yummy. Ambience was good and staff were very courteous. Love this place and would visit again to try out their menu.

A pocket friendly immersive experience!

Although famed for their Baos, The fatty Bao offers more than just open and closed baos. Delicately sealed dimsums, to the umami flavored Ramens, tender yet crunchy sushis, their flavors are mild when required (Sushis and Dimsums) and furiously hot where needed (Pan seared soba noodles). Dimly lit, a compact yet breathable dining space, this place makes for a perfect weekend dinner

We started our meal with Edamame, tofu and chilli dumplings, that were piping hot, glazed and succulent when they arrived. The first bite was a combination of crunchy and soft textures, and the chilli added a mild spiced flavor to it. Once we devoured this, we then moved to the drumstick and mixed veg dimsum, and this one was a hit on the table, that we ordered for two more portions. The chestnu, drumstick and veggies blended so well, and with a slight dip on the sauces provided at the table, the flavors had a delicous after taste too. Every bite of this felt satisfying. The thin coating of the dimsums when combined with the crunchy yet cooked veggies within hit the right notes in terms if textures and taste both.

We then tried the cottage chese pan seared baos, that arrived on a cast iron pan and with an array of sauces and dips, an extension to the ones present on the table. The baos were tender, delicate and flavorful, with the perfect mix of sweet and spicy, and the cottage cheese chunks added a great chewy texture to the filling.

The Ramens were the biggest hit on the table, especially amongst those diners in the family that tried it for the first time. My brother devoured his Via Malaysian Ramen that had a memorable after taste, and an umami flavor. The exotic mushroom was a hit with my husband, a soppy Noodle with lotus stem and exotic mushrooms that paired well with the miso within. The pan seared soba noodles formed the base of a semi fried tofu garnished with Brussel sprouts and sauces. This when paired with the red Thai curry was a spice affair and too hot for my palate. Although it had a great flavor, the spice profile was high-very high.

Finally our stomachs were full and hearts content. Even though there was no room for dessert, there was also no room for regret, because it was a meal that truly made us go nom nom. The service, food and taste made a remarkable impression here. Will definitely visit again and again and again

The food was epic! The Teriyaki Bao, Asparagus Cheese Sushi and Smoked Spinach Chicken Dim Sums were all amazing. Not the biggest fan of the Ramen but the dessert Japanese Cheesecake was the perfect ending to the meal. I am looking forward to visiting again soon!

Ambience is cute and friendly. The food is really good. One of the best asian restaurants in Bangalore. I loved the teriyaki salmon and cheese sushi with wasabi. Tsukemen ramen was so fulfilling with crispy chicken which was the best part. The roasted duck kimchi fried rice was good too. Baked wonton cups were on the okay-ish side. The mocktails melon supper and Bora Bora were good too. Overall it's a very good place to fill your tummy with joy!

Great service and hospitality by Satya.

I can say without a doubt tht this is the best place for some really tasty and soft baos in bangalore. They make their own bread which is super soft.
The ramen is also really nice. Must try!
The ambience is lovely but it does get really crowded over the weekends.

Overpriced food. It's bit oily aswell. I love the pho

Fatty bao, Hands down serves the best baos in town. Chilli crab and prawn boa and prawn tempura sushi roll is my favourite pick. From dessert, I had the Brick toast which was average.
But over all it’s a great place to dine.
Would totally recommend 👍🏽

We ordered randomly from the menu and everything was delicious. Be it starters, Baos, main course and even dessert (esp their wheat based cheese cake), you won't go wrong. Thank you Fatty Bao

I visited Fatty Bao on a Tuesday afternoon. It was fairly crowded. We ordered a pitcher of white wine sangria (not very good), smoked chicken and spinach dim sums (delicious), teriyaki salmon and wasabi sushi rolls (they obliged our request to omit the cream cheese; good sushi), asparagus and bacon fried rice (slightly bland and not the kind of bacon we were expecting), & roast duck and kimchi fried rice (very good). Overall, we had a great experience.

The Japanese Cheesecake was just amazing. Highly recommended.
Loved the Char Siu and Roast Duck Bao... The shengjian closed Bao was too good.
Great pan asain food.

I have been there a few times. Last time , we ordered a few items. Server came and told a non veg item to be made out of tofu. I trusted and ate. As soon as I figured it was pork, I spit it out. Told the person we got wrong item. The staff came back with plate and item where I had to spit to say that it is another item we ordered, which was non veg. The item was mistakenly ordered by my son.

Worse part was the waiter put the plate on which I had spit on my son's side for him to eat!!!!!

Visited this place a couple of days back. Ambience is simple yet pleasing. They have limited seating so recommend calling in advance to make a reservation. Food more than makes up for the simple ambience. Tried the following items: 1. Cran cooler - Refreshing beverage 2. Spicy Mushrooms, Iceberg Lettuce & Tanuki Sushi Rolls - Brilliant ; I was super impressed by the subtle flavours and the way it blend together ; Must try 3. Edamame, Chili, Garlic & Tofu Dimsum - I haven't had a better dimsum in ages . The almost translucent outer covering was perfect. The filling was delectable . Loved the sauces served with t too 4. Fatty Lotus Root - Nice mix of sweet and chili ; I love the use of peanut butter in this dish. The chili sauce was added in the right measures too. Overall, a great eat. 5. Vegetables & Garlic Noodles - Loved this ; the noodles were relatively thin and lightly spiced. It was so tasty that didnt even need a gravy to go with it Service - Good Food - Excellent Ambience - Can be better Overall - Highly recommend

Excellent service with great food!!

Ambience- Small and congested. We got a seat that faced the wall and had half the table. It gets very hot in afternoon. The place is crowded on weekends.

Pocket Friendly- Reasonable for the quantity and quality served.

Food- Food is absolutely delicious. No matter what we ordered. All turned out to be excellent. Duck Roast Open Bao had two mini baos which were extremely soft and yummy. Duck was not spicy at all and very tender. Bao will be veryy sweet though.

Asparagus Tempura, Cream Cheese and Sesame Uramaki was super tasty. The crunchy asparagus with soft sticky Rice and Soy sauce was a treat. Served alongside was Wasabi and Horseradish.

Spicy Red Chicken Ramen was tasty and filling. It was medium spicy and filled with chicken pieces, fried onions, veggies and boiled soft Ramen.

For dessert we ordered Miso Custard which sounded unusual as Miso is used in soups and is nothing but fermented Soya and Rice.

It was impeccable. The combination of Miso Custard that had a little sourness to it and Brownies, Walnut Gelato, Sesame crisp with warm Chocolate was delicious.

The plating was so delicate and a piece of art.

Service- Quick, prompt and polite.

Rating- 4.5 as the place needs expansion and better cooling for it got really hot in the afternoon and that too in December.

Amazing place!!! Excellent service, courteous staff!!! We ordered prawn dumplings with garlic and chive, salmon sushi with cream cheese and cucumber and chocolate fondant with wasabi ice cream. It was simply mind blowing!!! The presentation was excellent. Must try this place again for other dishes!!!

Disappointed with there quantity of food. I am a huge ramen fan and have recommended this place for a lot of my friends. The taste of the broth, vegetables and noodles stood out and they were very generous with there serving too but from the past couple of visits, the overall presentation was a little disappointing. Hopefully, that will improve in the future.

Personally I loved this place. You have a candle light on every table and this sevres for total lovely ambience around. The food over here were really amazing. This place is definitely a must try for all the foodies.
The staffs were polite and friendly too.

This place has been in my bookmarks for a while now. I finally got to visit this place on a busy Saturday, it was actually crowded. It attracts a lot of crowd so it’s better to book a table. I absolutely loved the food. The spinach and chicken dumplings were delicious and the ramen was perfect for the weather. It is a little expensive but worth every penny. Had a great experience here at fatty bao.

Their teriyaki glazed chicken bao is to die for ! Beautifully cooked soft chicken stuffed in a bao, with the perfect amount of sauce and like this sweet after taste. Also, their wild mushroom and truffle oil dimsums are lovely! Truffle oil, I assume has a peculiar taste but it didnt bother me at all, I still loved the taste ! They have the nicest staff and a great ambience ! It's lovely for a cozy quiet dinner :) highly recommend!

We tried three different baos and all were amazing in the order - pulled pork bao , teriyaki chicken bao , fried fish bao. The buns were super soft. It’s a light food which gives a great level of satisfaction!!

Lunch on a sat at 2 35 pm , needed to wait 10 mins for a table - first sign of a successful restaurant. We had
Green mango and papaya salad with chicken - this was nice , salad included cucumbers as well . The chicken was boiled , cooked in a broth ,which tasted fine however looked like it was raw chicken to my untrained ,prejudiced eye. I would order the salad again w/o chicken. Absolutely loved the bao teriyaki and spnch - it's a sticky bun with lovely fillings of ur choice , can't wait to try more. Smoked chk dimsum wer fantastic , prawn and sesame prawn toast superb - it's a must have. Spicy red chicken ramen is not for me.. too brothy , too boiled . My views are prejudiced because I'm very Indian and love my fried and tandooooored food. That said , this place is highly recommended and I can't wait to go back.

One of my favourite Asian restaurants in Bangalore. The food is consistently very good. The ambience is very cosy and always creates a a very warm setting to dine in. The beverage menu has great cocktails and the tea selection is also a must try. The service here is prompt and efficient even when they are sold out the service and food is not delayed.

Some amazing food! Lovely service! Top restaurant! The presentation of the food is top class.
Reservations are a must! Else, prepare yourself for a long wait! But, worth it :-)
If you are experimenting with food, this is right place to start with.
Highly recommended!!

They are right when they say The fatty bao is over hyped. After hearing so much about this place, decided to visit it for Sunday brunch. We ordered teriyaki salmon sushi, pulled pork bao, spicy chicken ramen,Via Malaysia Seafood ramen and Jasmine tea pot. Was disappointed with every single dish that was served. The wasabi served with sushi is made from instant wasabi powder instead of fresh wasabi. Similarly, Jasmine tea is a packet of Jasmine tea dipped in water, for which I do not really need to visit a restaurant. Via Malaysia "seafood" ramen had fried fish and 3 pieces of prawns to justify he "seafood" in name. Inspite of us giving instructions, the main course was served before the starters. Every dish was anything but authentic and the service was terrible. The only 1 star given is for bao which was decent but again the serving size was too small compared to price charged. Would recommend to give this place a pass as there are many good Asian food places in that area which serve much better food at similar prices.

Yum .... just hope the quality does not drop; great ambiance too especially in the afternoons! Good to experiment .... small portions and get to try out a few of the great stuff on the menu

Loved the food here. This is my second time here and honestly it gets better every time! Their sushi, nigiri, ramen, mock tails and especially the lemon tart and brick toast desserts were something to die for 😍 price too was reasonable for the amount we ate :) I totally recommend this place and will be coming here more often!

This place smells like rotten wood. The lightning OMG, is it so dimmed so I can't see how small the portion is? Pork dish overpriced, ramen too little ramen, taste nothing special. Mean owner that looks like everyone owes her money, jeez. A shame.
Jonathan
This was my second visit to the Fatty Bao. I recall sitting on the rooftop during my last visit. A shame they closed off that section of the restaurant. While the service does leave some room for improvement the pace at which the food is prepared by the kitchen is definitely exceptional. We tried the pulled pork bao, crab meat & tobiko sushi, the green mango and papaya salad, vegetables in garlic sauce and stir fried rice with mushrooms and spinach. I thoroughly enjoyed the salad however I have had better sushi at other restaurants in the city. The meal was not disappointing however wasn't anything to write home about either. On the fence about recommending this place. It's definitely not my go to place for sushi but am still amazed by the speed at which the dishes were prepared.
