While walking past this place, caught by the big poster of the Permit Room (TPR) we simply could not resist going in. The food and drink names will blend you and the old Bangalore charm , which you might or might have known till now. I would say I am lucky to visit it around that time when I am able to see the outside greenery in the fast fading daylight. The ambience is lively. Even they have kept a lot of plants inside. The decor evokes an old Bangalore charm. They have 4 floors. Coming to food - they have Sunday brunch . In snacks you can find cheesy gunpowder pondy fries ( choice of potato or tapioca served with chunky mango pickle mayo) , bellary palya (chilled eggplant mash and smashed peanut dip with jowar crackers), okra podi chips, mini podi idlis ,dosas ( roasted beetroot / shredded chicken / pulled pork )etc. You can also savour Goan prawn cocktail, pandi spare ribs, Kerala beef fry, liver n bacon pepper fry, fish pollichathu, kosambari salad (mixed moving dal sprouts, feta crumble and pomegranate arils). Very different food on the whole. For drinks too you will discover different names and flavours. We tried Ammachi's kashyam & Guntur liquid chutney. #avrilsfoodjournee The service might seem a little slow, but with friends or family , sometime this pace buys you more space.

This place has old Bangalorean Favourites served in a posh setting - but the food is good and wholesome, not the fancy kind that makes you stay hungry. We had ghee roast chicken with parotta and pork ribs with a pandi curry type dressing. I had a cocktail called Divine Intervention, it was pretty and also delivered with a hint of jaggery and tamarind. The rooftop ambience was also very heady.

Kerala Beef in Coin Tossed Parotta~
As the calendar has run its course, we find ourselves soul deep in an affair that began years ago and fortunately, shall tickle our taste loins till death do us part. This dish greeted us at the witty South Indian pub, The Permit Room constructed to invite any passer-by.
.
.
The place stands out with South Indian dishes amped up to suit pub culture and yet, leave you craving for a longer stay in the South. The place was decked with satirical posters, and a menu with twists only Rajni films have the liberty to celebrate.
.
.
This dish was cooked to perfection, the beef melted in our tongues and paired with light fluffy coin parottas, more often than not you'll roll it like a taco, deck it with crunchy curry leaves and swoop in for a large bite. We washed it down with Hyper Monk (a cocktail made with Old monk, which happens to be most of us southies favourite rum, coffee, dunked with cinnamon and loaded on coconut syrup).
.
.
To cool off a heavy scene, we then chose to dive into their Rasam cocktail but I'll let you run off and experience it for yourself. For an affair of such sorts is tastier when indulged in, you'll agree. - Gastronomic stories bidding you happy tummies and crazier souls✨

This place is love. Every mouthful of food here brings joy to the tastebuds. Food from all corners of South India notched up with some tweaks here and there and plated beautifully.

Been waiting to check this place out for a really long time and finally did last week. Loved the ambience of this place and they had an interesting menu which had a little twist to the regular south Indian food. Tried onion samosas, paniyaram, Appam and mushroom gravy and also the filter kaapi brûlée. Everything was good. Also, a very different cocktails menu with a lot of varieties to choose from.

The Permit Room
Commitments and Happy Landings
Opp Garuda Mall, Ashok Nagar
Bengaluru

‘Fine dine’. Words used a bit too loosely nowadays. Just like ‘Love you’. They keep it casual. Every now and then we encounter something ‘new’, and we start believing in commitments and happy landings. Before we go further, this is not about our dating lives. This is about ‘Permit Room’ at Bengaluru. Fine Dine at its best.

The food.

✅A very creative menu. My eyes fell on haleem samosas. I love haleem. I love Samosa. Easy choice. Crispy this crust samosa filled with melting haleem. Let’s forget the cheese burst, this aromatic haleem burst will leave you craving for more.

✅Moved on to Andhra style chilly chicken. The spicy sauce on that perfectly cooked chicken made me drool. Freshly cooked appam soaked that curry well , we wiped it off like no ones business.

✅Chef recommended lamb and we went for it . Cooked to perfection, we just looked fascinatingly at the beauty and had one amazing meal. It comes with a side of that silky soft haleem.

✅You like filter coffee? You like Creme Brûlée’? You gonna love filter coffee creme brûlée they have here. Heaven served in a coconut shell. This was love at first bite.

Ambience is beautiful with an outdoor patio to drink fusion cocktails at Namma Bengaluru.Staff could not have been trained better. A fine dine indeed. No fake promises, this one lives up to our expectations and the promises it makes. Before you know it you would be committed. The happy landing.

Had some really good food after quite a while. I had my hopes up because of the restaurant being one of the top 50 Indian restaurants by Condé Nast. It proved to be better than my already high expectations. It very evident that a lot of care goes into setting up every single plate at this place- especially love the lemon in a wrap that comes with every plate. It was quite difficult to choose from their meticulously crafted menu- settled for the Goan Prawn, and Crab curry and the Naadan Kozhi Curry, Meen Pollichathu. What blew my mind were their desserts. I might have been too full from the main course to appreciate dessert at that point- but not this one. Their dessert menu is not the usual lazy cheesecake-choco truffle-red velvet narrative. They've done their homework and added their signature onto it. While the Kaapi Pot Du Créme with the banana fritters was a coconut shell full of sheer melt-in-your-mouth goodness carrying an everyday flavour, the Jigathanda was a brilliant stranger- yet a comforting combination of Rose Milk, Ice cream and dulce de leche- with the basil seeds providing some textural relief.
My over-indulgent review should have given you a fair idea of how good the restaurant is and why it made it to the list.

I love their food very much. I love the Corgi style  pork served with akki roti here it is the best pork gravy I ever had . Another fav here is the mutton  brain fry and angel masala fry.  I also love their cocktail called as silk smitha . They have some amazing cocktails and dessert. Baked mysore pak is a must try.
Highly recommended place for good cocktails, dessert and authentic south Indian food.

My favourite pub in Bangalore. Vast seating, excellent vibe, fantastic food! Great service. It is really sad that this place has closed down. The food is inspired by Karnataka. Cool film inspired decor everywhere. The baked Mysore Pak is most excellent. I really hope they open again! Truly a loss for Bangalore. Wonderful, wonderful place to hang out ❤️

Lovely place. Have been there a couple of times and tried different items. They have a quirky take on different south Indian dishes. The cocktails are pretty interesting. The ambience is very good. We went during the mango season so we got to try mango flavor dishes. They have a variety of interesting appetizers so would highly recommend you to try different dishes. Go as a big group so that you can try out many items. We have visited only the ground floor so cannot comment on other levels. They have fun paintings adorning the walls. Service was good. Portions are shareable. Desserts are mind blowing. Check out the pictures from recent visit. Yummy all the way.

Pretty neat and cozy place tucked away in the junction opposite Garuda Mall. The chocie of food is great, most of their dishes are well thought and is inspired from the local South Indian dishes. Their cocktails with a Desi Indian twist is also a must try. Update- this place has closed down.

Ambiance is really great. Food is tasty. Drinks are standard. Price list is not expensive at all. It’s great place to hangout with friends and office group. It’s highly recommended that you book in advance if you’re planning to visit there on weekends Location is amazing. 5/5 Ambiance is great. 5/5 Drinks especially beer are good. One should try wheat beer. 5/5 Food is not so good. They serve only South Indian food, that too not at all spicy. Very limited options. 4/5

A really good restobar and pub in Bangalore. When it comes to choosing restobars or pubs in Bangalore, one will have to struggle a lot. There are too many options in each of the locations. This is a great place with an amazing terrace with some yummy food! They do have a nice selection of cocktails too. The service is the only thing which disappointed me this evening. Orders were getting ignored and we need to keep following up for the same. Prices are reasonable.

Always happy to visit here. They huge seating capacity of 4 floors (you will always get a table, with little waiting time sometimes). They serve south indian Inspired fusion food & drinks are south in a very different and modern way. They have salads, appetizers, excellent cocktails and desserts. The cocktails and non-veg appetizers are the best. Oh, the vegetarian food is delicious aswell, but non-veg south indian food is just too good like the Andhra chilli chicken, shrimp biryani, Haleem samosa, lamb chops, nadan khozi curry etc. . The cocktails varieties are very different & refreshing, one will not get disappointed like the Ginchax, Kattanchaya are very good and new on menu. Their older cocktails chill pill madi, Patti's magic rasam & fizzy kosambari one should try. Filter coffee mouse and Chirori sandwhich are thier best desserts.

If you like to try south indian food with a modern twist, this is your place. They have very innovative south indian dishes that tasted good too. My favourite was puliyogari poppers! They have a huge menu for cocktails but nothing was exceptional. The presentation was ok and taste was also normal. In dessert , coffee mousse is a must try! Visit this place if you love south indian food and want to experiment with your taste buds!

Situated just in front of Garuda mall at the corner of a rather busy street, this fancy place is hard to miss. The ambience is very likeable, specially the funny and creative posters/paintings all over the place. The music selectionis great as well as the service. As for food, we usually visit for lunch and have the Thali, which is unique, plenty and delectable unless you aren't fond of coconut in your gravy. Although I would say they can provide more options and variety given the price tag as the place wouldn't qualify as pocket friendly. Do visit if you are looking for unique take on South Indian food along with few drinks as there's plenty on offer.

One of the best restaurants in Bengaluru. They mostly serve south Indian food with an amazing presentation and twist. Their sense of humor needs an award. Stating from the names given to dishes to the funny boards all over. Checkout for the pics for stories. Some have the content showing funny alternative words related alcohol in all south Indian language. Food was amazing in taste. Their service is amazing. The ambience is different. Most of the wall is covered with charts used for reaching small kids. This made us nostalgic. Outdoor seating has vertical gardens. Don't forget to try their amazing cocktails with a twist. Even their washrooms are unique with safety seating covers which automatically gets sanitized upon pushing a button. Forgot to tell you , they gave valet parking. . Must try dishes : Iyengar's bakery egg puff Egg Benedict Filter kaapi pot du cream which is served on coconut shell ( I got lost eating this. It was so yummy. ) Baked mysore pak which oozes out ghee.

It was my first time in Permit room and really loved it. Ambience is nice and staff were friendly. The highlight of this place is, FOOD! It unique and different take on the South indian food. Craft beer is good (tried Witty wit). Smoking is not allowed in the rooftop. You have to come down a floor to smoke. They close early on weekdays which is a bummer. All in all, nice place to chill after a retail therapy at the Garuda mall. PS: don't miss the quirky posters in the hall way and near the staircase :)
