Review Sodabottleopenerwala - Bengaluru

Parsi food... Not something that I thought existed and that too so good ! It's not a very big place, does have a wide menu but the real speciality is the few Parsi items on the menu. The dhansuk is served in a traditional tiffin, looks quite old school. The kheema pav is another interesting one to try. Service is quick and staff is polite and helpful. The location is prime, but parking might be tricky. Overall it's a place worth a try.

A lovely restaurant serving Bombay Parsi and related dishes. The place is crowded, but the ambience is great with lots of colour and personality, and light music playing in the background that doesn't affect conversation. We had Raspberry Soda (okay), Parsi Choi (great), and Freddy on Fire (okay) in beverages, and Chicken Baida Roti (excellent), Bohri Keema Pav (excellent), and Kundapura Prawns (not that great). The service is quick and the staff is helpful and friendly.

It is a must visit in Bangalore. Exceptional food and fast service. I had Mutton Koobideh kebab, chicken berry pulao and Matunga coffee cake. All three dishes were exquisite. And the coffee cake was out of this world. The place has a very retro vibe, which i loved. Its almost always full. Loved dining here. Awesome experience. Will definitely visit soon again.

4 stars for food - only because the vegetarian options were less. But quality and taste of the food was very good. Their curry leaves fries is a must try!! (Attached pic) 90s Bollywood music plays in the background giving a very good vibe!

Good food, great coffee, quirky decor and friendly service – I keep going back here for all this and more. They keep revamping their menu, and the current one (Dec 2023) has great options for vegetarians. Enjoyed the Burrata Chaat very much.

Can I give this place more than 5 stars? No seriously; I really wish I could give it 10 stars. In fact, I'm very disappointed with myself that I have not visited this place before..after having lived in Bangalore for ages! Their Irani chicken sheekh kabab is a thing of dreams. Presented on a bed of delicious hummus and the softest bread, this is hands down, the best chicken sheekh kabab I've eaten in life! The prawn curry with rice was also very tasty. We tried a lot of other dishes - non-veg starters and mains..they were all PERFECT. They also helped us relive the surreal feeling of eating a buttered and toasted bun which just melts in your mouth. The ambience was another delightful part of our visit. Quirky wall decor and fittings transport you to a different era. I'm just waiting to go back and treat myself to other items on their menu. ✨ This is one of my top 5 restaurants to visit in Bangalore ✨

Absolutely adore this spot – the food and atmosphere are top-notch. If you happen to visit on the perfect day, you might just catch them playing 'kisi ki muskurahaton’ with disco lights, and you'll find people of all ages discreetly humming along as you relish your Parsi delights. It's like a little slice of charming Mumbai without the overzealous, slightly over-served dance floor crowd.

Lovely food Amazing ambience Most loved part - Fantastic bollywood music, lifts any kind of moods Helpful staff Great place to hang out with friends or with family
Nikita
The food is amazing esp, buratta cheese chat.. probably the best chat I ever had.. ambience is nice, tad bit better than Bombay Irani joints.. bun Maska is super.. the service time was very consistent 5-10min from order booking online.. pav Bhajji is also Mumbai street style but better.. over all a really good experience…

Great place for food and drinks. All the items we had were very good. The burrata starter was especially amazing.

I am a big fan of Parsi food … dhansak , berry pulao and akuri have always been my favourites along with the Parsi dairy kulfi ( this time around the kulfi was not as good ….was hard and not the Parsi Dairy farm classical taste was missing …) Soda Bottle Opener Wala reminds me of the Irani Cafes of the old in Bombay . The atmosphere is quaint , vibrant and gives a nice cozy comfortable feeling . Music is the hummable old Bollywood music Cocktails are amazing Overall a great place to visit for Parsi food and go back into time into a nostalgia trip #parsifood #localfood #bangalore #indianfood

Good place to have some persi food. Nice and beautiful arrangement in the downtown area. Retor music and good food.
Prasad Kanagali
Freshly baked soft bun and the old style cafe is just amazing. And....., they do not have service charge thing.

This restaurant basically serves Parsi and Mumbai inspired food. The menu has limited food options though quite interesting and wide varieties of cocktails. The ambience, the furnishings, and quirky decor on the walls feels nostalgic, typical old Parsi cafes of Mumbai. Food: Palak patta chat was crispy and tasty. Roti they serve are nothing but chapati. Vada pav, Tawa paneer and veg cutlet are delicious and the Kalakatta soda in drinks was amazing. The Bombay sandwich was delicious. The staff is well behaved and polite, still they don't have much knowledge about the menu items they serve. Over all experience was good, An amazing place to have a good meal and a great time.
Rupashree Chakraborty
It's a Parsi food restaurant. The ambience is so good makes you remember the '70s year. Their foods especially buttered buns are so soft they melt in your mouth. I loved their keema Pao very tasty. Irani chai is a must-have it’s truly rejuvenation 🥰bun Maska was awesome. Their pastries mawa cake was yummy. I would love to visit this place again 🥰
Prateek Shrivastava
Loved the music there. It was 90's/ 2000's foot tapping Bollywood numbers and people were definitely enjoying it. Great vibe. Food- we are kinda people who don't like spicy food. So I wouldn't rate it high on that. Cocktails- loved it, loved it, loved it.
Spandana Vijaykumar
Quite unique & interesting name. Known for providing Irani food. Was very intrigued to visit this place. The place was buzzing with people and had a very nice vibe. We tried different things (all vegetarian). Must try their ‘Veg Very Berry Pulav’ 🍚 which was delicious. Ended our lunch with a nice ‘Irani Chai’ 🫖. Do check out this place for yourself 😋

Everything about this place screamed house comfort. It has limited seats and feels so cozy when your inside. We had a friend from Mumbai who took us through the menu. The keema was insane. Coffee and buns, i was educated, were a combination to try which did not disappoint. Coming from Kerala i wanted to try out the fish dish. It was a little strange at first. It had a mint based marination which was confusing for my taste buds. It was a different experience. The most touching incident was not the butter of the bun interacting with my tongue but how they are accomodating to the point they have hired a disabled individual to greet and take people's reservations. Absolutely loved the place. This place is unique which has to make it an essential place to showcase to anyone visiting Bangalore for a stint.

My experience of Iran / parsi Food and it was an really unforgettable experience the Food was delicious and beyond expectations!

The staff is really good and especially people with Physical challenges are given opportunity to work and that's amazing opportunity.

Never mind to pay hefty amount for the delicious but still prices are bit costly.
Neharika Jindal
Must have : Matunga Coffee Cake, Berry Pulao

Although a little expensive, the place delivers in terms of quality, plating and ambience. Each dish is plated with exquisite style. we had the Eggs Kejriwal, chilli cheese apo, okra and the keema pulao. Do try the coffee cake, I'm not a huge fan of mawa cakes in general so tend to avoid those. Top it up with a raspberry soda and Shrewsbury biscuits!

This had always been on my bucket list due to their refreshingly different menu. It did not disappoint.

Parking is an extremely inconvenient problem due to their prime location. The place itself is quite small and it takes time to be seated during rush hour.

Service isn't very quick, but they are perseverant and dutiful.

The food was quite good, even as Parsi flavours are different from what one would have in a general course of the day. I enjoyed the change of pace.

The place can be slightly pricey, but it all depends on how much you intend to shell out. There is also the added benefit of new experience to factor in.

I'd love to drop by some time later in the evening to sample some of their drinks later on.
Nikita
This was my first time in a Parsi resturant. The ambience here is very old-school, songs played makes you nostalgic. Best part were the receptionist, servers and the food of course. I had pav and mutton sillibati, I am definitely going there again post lockdown to chug beers and have great food.

SodaBottleOpenerWala is a parsi style restaurant in Lavelle road and it is located opposite to BMW & HD showrooms and next to Biere Club.
It is a large sized restaurant with a good ambience and live music in the evenings.
There is a seating arrangements available at this place and it can occupy around 25 to 30 people at a time. It is a best place to hang out with Friends and loved one's and One can try delicious variety of food at this place like Parsi and Modern Indian food items.

Visited this place with my friend and we have tried following food items at this place:

1. Located in the heart of the city, Lavelle road. This place is a must try.
Just how interesting the name of this place is, the service provided by them is interesting as well. An authentic Parsi cuisine just served at its best.

Food - Honestly, I had heard about the Parsi cuisine here which was supposed to be a feast, and it definitely was. I loved each and every dish I had ordered here. The quantity was good, quality was amazing. What else do we need?
Dish 1 : Egg wrapped Kheema pulav - Just like a burrito, here, Kheema pulav was wrapped in an omlette. An absolute delight to the mouth.

Dish 2 : Chicken berry pulav - This is Chicken pulav topped with regional berries to give a sweet touch. A very classic Parsi dish.

Dish 3 : Staff pickle achari chicken : This was an achari flavored chicken appetizer which I loved. Chicken was well seasoned and cooked perfectly.

Dish 4 : Bohri Kheema pav - My favourite from their menu. This dish is an authentic Parsi style Kheema pav. Meat cooked perfectly right and buns very soft, gave an excellent feeling to the stomach. And who isn't a fan of Kheema pav?

Desserts : Baked yoghurt caramel custard with shrewberry biscuits - A very innovative dessert which blew my mind. Loved the presentation of the dessert. The biscuits had a very good taste and the custard was served fresh.

Well how could I leave without trying the all time favourite, Irani Chai. A traditional Parsi style tea served with a jeera biscuit. Absolutely loved it.

Service - Service was nice and welcoming. Though it had a fancy crowd, the service was consistent. Food was served quick and no issues faced.

Ambience - Well, this place has a very lively ambience. It feels like you're sitting in a cafe somewhere outside the city. Ambience was also kind of authentic similar to it's food. Gave a good retro feeling. It had live music as well which was an add on.

Overall, had an excellent experience at SodaBottleOpenerWala. Try it out once with your buddies and have a good time :)

Thank you :)
Shubhajoy Biswas
The food was gorgeous, especially the Kejriwal sandwich and crispy fried chicken. The meat was so soft and juicy, we ordered another whole plate.... drinks were nice too...
Way of serving the food was very innovative. Like they served in dabbas!!!
Polite staff. Good service.

Loved the feel, look and taste of this place! We come from a family of mumbaikars who've been feeling nostalgic about the old Bombay feels. We came here and ordered kheema. Pav, aloo aunty veg cutlets, the tawa paneer masala and wonderful cocktails (finding frenny, coffee wala whiskey and sangria) and we go home absolutely satiated and so much more in love with this place!
Vivek Thuravupala
We had booked a table for 5, but reached and found that there was no table for us and had to wait on a small table for ~30 minutes before a correctly sized table opened up. Music was too loud. When we asked if they could turn it down a bit, the server literally told us that this was the minimum volume. He later turned it down after we insisted. We finally got our table and a plate of chicken wings came in. To be clear, I’m a chicken wing fanatic and these wings were terrible. The meat itself was unseasoned and not cooked properly, the coating was thick and rubbery. We sent the dish back, got the check, and went upstairs to Cantan. SodaBottleOpenerWala was great the last couple times I came here, but now I’ll probably never return again. It literally left a bad taste in my mouth.

One of my favourite places in Bangalore is unfortunately now just horrible. Loud punjabi DJ music (in a Parsi restaurant?), coupled with undercooked food and diluted alcohol is just disastrous. I wish somebody would bring this place back to its original state.
The worst part is that the staff just doesn’t care anymore. Even our reservations were not honoured, even though they were on the list.

We didn’t bother to stay for the main course. Would not visit again.
Sumana Dey
A breath of fresh air in a jungle of Chinese and Continental. Something new and different for a change. All the food dishes prepared uphold legacy of SodaBottleOpenerWala.
The Kheema pao, Berry Pulao, Chicken Farcha, Salli Chicken are a must try.
For dessert, do try the Mawa Cake. It's undoubtedly the best dessert I've had in a long time.
However, what we could complain about is that the mutton in the Berry Pulao, which is not like it is in Mumbai, but that's entirely because of the quality of mutton in Bangalore.
Service was good too, Durga the one serving was very courteous and nice.
Rushali Daga
I just loved the cocktail Rani toh Pappani !

Loved the ambience. Food is really great.

Met a friend and decided on sodabottleopenerwala. What a mouthful. The place had a good crowd for late afternoon on a weekday.
The interiors are very retro. Nice feel to it.
Parsi food but the menu is quite extensive with a lot to choose from. Went with a mutton dhansak, mutton berry pulao and a starter prawn dish. The food was ok. I’ve eaten tastier Parsi food.
Arvind Krishnan
Just got the best food served from the sweetest chap named Durga! Didn’t know they have so many vegan options! Must visit!

Jeroo Aunty's Chocolate Mousse is a must try! Subtle Ambience and music. If you are looking for some peaceful evening with your beloved ones. But when it comes to price and quantity , I am quite disappointed, hence 3 🌟

I’ve long been trying to go to this place for some mouth-watering Parsi food. Then came a day where the family decided to get to SodaBottleOpenerwala.

We had ordered Parsi Chicken and Mutton Masala Roast, Tawa Paneer Masala Combo, Patra Ni Macchi with lemon rice, Bohri Keema Pav, along with some nibbles.

The ambience is lovely with a rail track to the roof and an engine chugging all along, the lights go dim post 10pm and you have some lively old Hindi songs.

All in all excellent quality food and prompt and courteous service, make this place a must try.

Overall rating:

Food - 4/5

Service - 4/5

Ambience - 5/5

Loved the newly curated menu at Soda Bottle Opener Wala ! Their Chicken Berry Pulao and Baita Roti were phenomenal. The Chocolate Mousse and Mawa Cake with Vanilla Ice cream are what dreams are made of ! In fact, the amazing staff even gave us a sampler of a new dessert they are introducing. I don’t know what they call it, but it was a triple layer chocolate delight. I hope they introduce it into their menu soon ! I was a little disappointed that the removed their legendary bacon vada pavs from the menu. But the amazingly refreshing Raspberry Soda made up for it ! Hands down the best Parsi Restaurant in Bangalore.
Anugrahac
One of the better Parsi cuisine options in all of India. Durga was exceptionally courteous and informative with the dishes to order. Would recommend this restaurant to anybody who wishes to have a good time.

Had the Chicken Farcha, Bohri Kheema Pav and the Lagan nu custard. Nice ambience, average service, good food, a little pricy.

I visit this cafe or you can say a best restaurent of Banglore, where you will get indian comfert food along with western fusion food.

This place is beautiful decorated with parsi theme , vibes are so classy with the vibrant menu , which is full of mouthwatering dishes from starter to maincourse.

I thanks to chef Anahita for giving a perfect place which mirror the parsi cuisine and community .

Must visit this place must try beri pulao.

Well, well! One of my favorite places! I am a hardcore fan of sbow!😅..Cheese and masala fries ( though I thought it was loaded fries) served with three delicious mayonnaise sides: orange one tastes similar to the dynamite sauce of kfc, not spicy at all;one white sauce with caramelized garlic, the third was a plain white mayonnaise but tasted more buttery!
Second dish: Mumma’s mutton Dhansak... again I thought it was mutton biryani 🤪.. this is our typical “kadhu (bottle gourd) mutton & mixed dal,(dalcha)served with slightly sweet, a bit dry and brown colored rice, garnished with caramelized onions. One amazing thing to note is that this came in a tiffin carrier (those nostalgic moments)
The drink: Their special martini espresso...with hazel nut syrup and coffee ( more like an Irish coffee, but this was “vodka” in place of “whiskey”).
Verdict: as always they are the best.. and on the portion size, Dhansak serves only one. Fries can be shared🤪 I have tried their kheema pav with extra butter and tomato macaroni before, yum! Great ambience! Sunday is a bit crowded so book ahead!

SodaBottleOpenerWala is one of my favorite places forever. I've visited their Mumbai branch as well as the Bangalore one. My favorites to order (and they never go wrong with these) are:
1. Kheema Pav - always a favorite with masala kheema and buttery pav, it is a good portion for one person to get completely full
2. Salli Boti - again another dish that they always excel at. I order it with Roti or pav.
3. Mutton Berry Pulao (My favorite) - Succulent pieces of mutton with rice, topped with dried berries and fried onion - oh God, this dish is my go to whenever I visit this place. I have also tried their caramel custard and it is a little too sweet for me, so I did not like it much. I could not finish it since it was so sweet. I love the Shrewsbury biscuits - they are melt in the mouth, buttery soft! As good as the ones from Kayani Bakery in Pune!
The best part of this place is their choice of music - being a 90's kid, the old, evergreen songs they play just uplifts your mood to another level. We generally end up going over the weekend, eat some really good food, kick back with a couple of drinks & dance the evening away to Govinda!!A must visit!

Nice Ambiance, lively crowed, great music , an altogether different vibe and the best thing is food. Thanks gopal for taking care of service 😊

If you want to try out some good Parsi food, this is the place! Been long overdue since I wanted to try this restaurant and I finally got around to do it this weekend, and the food and ambience won my heart!
The top 3 things I loved from the menu would be the Chicken Farcha (must try), Parsi Masala Roast and Five Berry Sober Sangria.
Also tried out cocktails Finding Fenny and Greater Than Chai, both have an unusually good taste.
Ordered the Chicken Masala Khari pizza, make sure you know that the base is going to be hard (khari) before ordering, and if that works for you, you'll love it, as for me the base and the topping of the pizza didnt go well.
Loved the hospitality and the service, the waiter was so happy and jolly all the while! After 10, they dimmed the lights and started playing old bollywood songs which made me love the ambience even more! I'll surely be coming back here soon.

The place is beautiful, the ambience is nice and lively, the staff is courteous. Gopal served us and was very friendly and kind. The finding frenny cocktail is a must try
Sumadhur Anoor
amazing place and beautiful ambience, excellent service by Gopal! Really good food
Rag Mayur
Long pending visit and it was excellent to say the least. The starters and desserts were exceptional. Chicken farcha, prawns, baida chicken were impeccable. In desserts, mousse melted my heart, probably the best mousse i ever had. The coffee cake was too good! Berry pulaos were overrated though and too less in portion for the price. All in all a great experience. Will visit again soon to explore the menu further. Don't forget to take some pan pasands kept at the door ;-)

Love the old school ambience, absolutely love the irani chai! Head over for some authentic irani/mumbai street cuisine. Also want to mention the great service by a very polite Mr. Durga :)

A perfect hangout for Parsi food and a perfect handout for large family gatherings. The ambience of glass and liberal use of wood with jukebox is pretty relaxing. Homely ceramics add to the sophistication.
One can't help but notice the lamps, frames, and cart being used with old Bollywood songs in the background.

Excellent service and courteous staff - please be sure to book a reservation esp if you are going on a weekend.
Menu spells of unabashed Parsi fool with a detailed description of dishes.
The kanda Bhajjia is too good and too nostalgic for every Indian household.
We ordered for Pao and tomato-based gravy with shredded potato. Must try. Berry Pulao with caramelized onions is a must for all vegetarian pulao lovers. The masala curry Spot on! I am particularly in love with their bakery and aways pick up shrewbury cookies on my way back.
