Review Mainland China - Bengaluru

Varun Ram S
Great ambience and service. Prices are cheaper compared to their Delhi outlets. Ordered Signature crackling spinach, Vegetable sweet corn soup and Vegetarian Pan fried noodles. Taste was great and quantity was also quite good. Price was okay ish tho. Expecting more dishes in their vegetarian menu. Otherwise it was great.

In Bangalore, we sought out an authentic Chinese dining experience, drawn in by the restaurant's inviting ambiance. Despite having made reservations, we encountered a brief 5-10 minute wait before being seated. The customer service, while acceptable, didn't particularly stand out. As for the main attraction, the food, it left something to be desired. The flavors were decent, but they fell short of the authenticity we had hoped for. In a nutshell, this restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere, but there's room for improvement in both service and the culinary offerings if it aims to deliver a truly authentic Chinese dining experience.

The food was delicious, the ambiance was pleasant, and the portion was satisfying. However, there were limited ingredient options (e.g., ordering chicken meant only getting chicken, and the same for prawns). I recommend inquiring about the specifics of each item before placing your order.

I have given a 4 star overall rating due to the basic idea that we visit a restaurant to have the best food for the price we pay. In this regard I guess Mainland China is way too expensive compared to the other competitive restaurants and pubs around which offers the same dishes mostly. For example the Chicken Fried Rice which they said was supposed to be around 450 but the final price was nearly 550 which was not worth it in comparison to the portion offered. It tasted well but things are priced high. The restaurant was clean and well organized and the service was fantastic, therefore I have given a 5 star and 4 star rating category wise.

Always a pleasure to visit Mainland China. This was 1st time at this one. Good ambiance, best Chinese food & very well behaved staff. Chicken Taipei in apitizer & chocolate rolls with vanilla ice cream in deserts catagory is truly awesome & must try. We always go to Mainland China on birthdays but this was a first time they asked us about the occasion (on phone) & presented the cake at the end of the dinner . This touched our heart. A big Thank You " will surely visit again.

The restaurant is on first floor. The lunch buffet is around 750 around. Ala carte wil be much coastlier if not buffet. All dishes and food is delicious. Atmosphere seating arrangement all excellent.

If you're looking for authentic Chinese cuisine in Bangalore, Mainland China is the perfect place for you. With over 20 outlets across 10 cities in India, the restaurant chain is known for its delectable Chinese dishes, and I recently had the chance to dine at their Church Street, Bangalore outlet. I visited Mainland China for lunch and opted for their buffet. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was pocket-friendly, with the non-vegetarian option priced at ₹745.00 + GST and the vegetarian option at ₹645.00 + GST. The buffet was a great mix of soups, dumplings, wontons, and a wide variety of starters, including fish, chicken, prawns, and crab, with around five options each for vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The main course selection was also impressive, with around five dishes for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. To top it off, the dessert section had a few sweet treats to satisfy my wife with her sweet tooth. Overall, I found the buffet to be excellent value for money. The quality and taste of the dishes were top-notch, and the service was prompt and attentive. Valet parking is available at the Church Street outlet, which is a bonus considering the busy location. While the buffet is an excellent option for those looking for a quick and affordable meal, the à la carte menu can be a bit pricey. However, I highly recommend trying out some of their signature dishes, such as the 8 treasure soup, basil dumpling, and sizzling brownie, which are worth the splurge. In conclusion, Mainland China's Church Street outlet is a must-visit for anyone looking for authentic Chinese cuisine in Bangalore. With its excellent buffet options and exceptional service, the restaurant offers a delightful dining experience that is sure to leave you craving for more.

The best Chinese mealbox i tried in Bangalore. We tried a non veg combo meal box, it had 2 choco rolls, pepper chicken, chilly chicken gravy, 2 momos and hakka noodles or fried rice (we chose noodles). Everything was cooked to perfection.

Great ambience. Authentic Chinese cuisine available and quickly served. They need to work on their hygiene though as there a cockroach inside the glass. Otherwise, everything else is top notch.

When we think of quality Chinese food one name that commonly comes to our mind is Mainland China.. This speciality restaurant has multiple branches across India and serving us some best quality of Chinese delicacies from many years.. Aesthetic ambiance with the touch of Chinese icons, ample classic sitting spaces and ultimate buffet both veg & nonveg at a pocket friendly budget is all about the place.. Nonveg buffet at ₹895/- +tax & Veg buffet at ₹795/- +tax.. We started with the soup and mouthwatering appetizers served on the table and moved to the delightful main course. Even, the dessert section was quite remarkable and had many options to pick from.. On point service and the courteous staffs deserves to be mentioned too..

Food was very good. The staff was also very nice an the ambience was also amazing, but the only problem was with the portions ,which were very small. The portions of almost all appetisers and Main course in the large criteria was also very small compared to other places.

The fried rice was as usual good but the smoked chicken was excellent been a long time since I had something THIS tasty from any restaurant. Extremely happy that Ali suggested it and along with his excellent service just make it an awesome dinner! Next time I am going for the smoked starter version. Can't wait to be back!

The proportion size to that of the price is not upto the mark. Also, the staff is okayish. Ambiance is nice though.

Visited this place yesterday night. Nice ambience with proper Chinese new year Decoration. Also they have a menu specially designed for chinese new year. We ordered a mix of regular menu and Chinese new year menu. Pickled coriander chicken, stir fried lamb with garlic and malaysian curried prawns are must try. Full of distinct flavour and something new for us. Also we had japanese panfried mushroom dumpling. Truffle oil makes it a perfect finish.

Service was on its top notch and staffs are extremely cordial and attentive. Jitendra and Anand Ali were served us very passionately. A definitely recommended place for chinese lovers.

This was my 2nd visit to Mainland China! Been to Kalyan Nagar previously. Taste of food is great although the lemon corriander soup we had in Kalyan nagar was so much better than the one we tried here. Calm and soothing ambience gives you a good time to talk with your family while enjoying the tasty food. We tried chicken with chillies and basil in a clay pot with noodles and it was an amazing combination.

Visited yesterday for my anniversary lunch. Hygiene was very poor. Partition glass was dirty. Tables and table mats had food stains. No napkins and cutlery on table. Had to call for each and every service. Extremely poor service. Food was pathetic. Malaysian crab was overcooked. All the food was extra oily. Disappointing visit indeed.

The year of 2020 in china is the year of the rat, the folks at mainland china have curated an spectacular menu for the occasion of new year celebrations.

The philadelphia dumplings melt in the mouth on keeping it on your tongue.

The crispy bombil or bombay duck was one of the best I've had in recent times

All the non veg people I personally suggest you to have the chicken lung fung soup, the fluffy egg dressing and crispy rice given as accompaniments will take the taste buds on a joy ride

Sizzling lamb with cumin is cooked to the perfection and stands out with its starnds of Oriental flavours.

Vegetarians will have to try the matchstick potato's it's simply yummmmm meeee!

The pickled coriander chicken will stand out with its classic dhaniya taste and the fullness to the flavour is brilliant.

Suggestion for having vegetable fortune pot, The assortment of veggies including lotus stem and water chestnut is delighting to the palate.
The Mandrian fish is brilliant to go along side with Singapore rice noodles

Top all of this with darsan and vanilla icecream to end the meal.
Syed Zafir
Went to try out their Chinese New Year Menu celebrating the year of rat. The menu was extensive with amazing options in Lamb, Chicken and fishes.

Started with Lung Fung Soup and it was absolutely delicious. The egg drops were so soft and felt like clouds in my mouth, elevating the soup even more.

The matchstick potatoes with truffle oil is a brilliant dish in the menu. The flavour of garlic and truffle oil with the potatoes is a match made in heaven.

The Singapore Noodles with Scallions is an amazing main course option. Overall the food was really delicious with decent portion sizes. The taste and the quality does full justice to the cost.

Food: 5/5
Ambiance: 4/5
Service : 5/5
Bakasura Forever (www.bakasuraforever.in)
Before bakasura entered the restaurant, the thing he noticed was what read, "If it's Chinese it's Mainland China". After the amazing food experience did he realise that the statement was upto its mark! It set a huge expectation and it didn't disappoint.
Being a vegetarian bakasura had such amazing veg delicacies.
Let's get into the food later.
Bakasura was here on a weekday evening for dinner. They had their new Chinese New year menu and that's what he explored.
The Ambience of the place is good. Has a good vibe. It has a bar, buffet and all the tables. Can accommodate around 60-70 people. The place is good and well maintained.

Coming to the food. We started it off with soups. We had their lung Fung vegetarian soup and it was so good. The cream wasn't too thick and the vegetables were properly cooked.
We then went into the appetizers. Started with the mushroom Dumplings. One of the best dumplings that bakasura had in recent times! The mushroom was just fabulous! Must try!
We then had the match Stick Potatoes. Oh my! We can have a bowl full of this! We then had their haricot beans.
The main course we had was their Singapore style noodles! Such an epic one. Bakasura was actually with 4 other non vegetarians. And we finished our bowl entirely without sharing. The noodles is the best ever! Highly recommended.
We would probably try the same thing we had each time we go next!
And then to finish, we had the chocolate dome with chocolate sauce.
This was just the perfect finisher.
We totally Recommended mainland China.
You must try it today!

This was my first visit to mainland china church Street although I have been to Asia kitchen a lot of times for their wonderful buffet. To start with I had shelled apples mocktail which is basically apple juice, Basil leaves and sweet and sour syrup which gives the drink a tinge of sourness which is just perfect for my palette. To start with the buffet, I had their Lung Fung chicken soup which is one of the best soups I have ever had although I'm not a soup person. Then I had five spice chicken among the starters which was a little spicy and amazing flavours just bursting I your mouth. Then I had the Lemon grass Fish which was marinated very well and had wonderful flavours, perfectly seasoned as well. Then I had the pan fried Japanese mushroom dumpling which was just out of the world good along with the accompaniments. Then I had the match stick potatoes with truffle oil which was a little salty but was crispy and great. Then I had the Philadelphia cheese dumplings that were steamed and not fried, they melted in my mouth and I could devour more than a plate of those beauties. For main course, my favorite was the Sichuan steamed fish with fresh coriander - the fish was delicate and flavoured very well, thanks to the expertise of the staff. To end the meal, I had my all time favorite sizzling brownie with ice cream!

We all know that Mainland China is mostly about all things non vegetarian that at top notch.
But did you ever consider trying out veg dishes?
Well if not, now is the time!
I was so excited to try out the dishes off the special Chinese New year menu that will be there for a fortnight.
To begin with, I had some match stick fried potatoes - they were sliced closely similar to that of match sticks and topped with some healthy Himalayan salt, one of the best appetisers ever.
I followed it with the Japanese mushroom dimsums - the filling was prepared from duxelles of mushroom seasoned well with some garlic, soya and salt and the dimsum was fried to golden brown. An absolute delight for the palette.
Also had the Philadelphia cheese dumplings - they're steamed and topped with some crisped dry red chilli and they're absolutely melt in the mouth delicious.

For main course, I had the fortune clay pot vegetables that contained pok choy , celery, lotus stems, edamame beans , shallots and broccoli in a thin broth which tasted best with some steamed rice.
To commence such a fabulous meal, I was served a delicious wholesome portion of Mango pudding topped with some mango crush.
You can also pair your food with their mocktails and cocktails for an ever better gastronomic experience.

Taste of authenticity is found in Mainland China. Calm, soothing ambience with light music makes this place a perfect for fine dining. I tried their new year special menu along with some amazing mocktails. Lung fung chicken soup is one of the best soups I have ever tried. Starters, especially dumplings are exceptional! Mushroom dumplings as well as Philadelphia cream cheese dumplings both were extraordinary! Non veg starters we're good but was lacking perfection. In main course, again the fortune pot of veg was a delight but chicken main course was not up to the mark. However, steamed fish was a flavourful dish. Rice and noodles both lived upto my expectations. Mainland China is known for such delicacies. Desserts were simple. Mango pudding was perfectly sweetened with a decent garnish. However, coconut dumpling had a weird after taste. The highlight of this place is their bar section which has amazing drinks with mind-blowing contemporary mocktails. Forbidden punch was refreshing and amazing. Overall, the great service and decent staff made the dining experience better and remarkable!

Had been to Mainland China yesterday to try out their special menu for Chinese New Year. This special menu is available for a short span of 15-20 days.

We started off with the Lung Fung Veg Soup. It is a thick soup with tofu that is subtle, warm and comforting. It was really delicious and I totally recommend.

The highlight of the meal has got to be the dumplings. They are phenomenal and out of this world! The potato starch wrapper is so thin that it melts in your mouth.
The Philadelphia cheese dumplings are soft, creamy and flavourful and the pan fried Japanese mushroom dumplings had a crispy exterior with a slightly chewy wrapper and a soft mushroom filling.

In the mocktails I loved the frozen lime and watermelon and cilantro crush, they were refreshing and cleansed the palate.

The matchstick potatoes with truffle oil were good too, a tad high on the salt though. In main course we tried the Singapore style fried noodles which had a smokey flavour of burnt garlic that was scrumptious, the fortune clay pot vegetables was a bit bland but I absolutely loved the crispy veggies in it- it had sugar snap peas, water chestnuts, lotus stem, broccoli.

We finished with a mango pudding, sweet coconut dumplings and sizzling brownie.

Service is courteous and the ambience is sombre with Chinese decorations and perfect for a date or a quiet dinner with family. Do give it a try!!

Had visited Mainland China to try their Chinese New Year menu. Pleasant music, friendly service. Started the meal with Lung Fung Chicken Soup which was delicious and throat warming. Tried match sticks potatoes with Truffle oil which was crispy and yummy. Also tried five spice chicken, Malaysian curried prawns which was perfect and juicy. Tried Pan fried Japanese Mushroom dumpling and Philadelphia cheese dumpling which are must try and absolutely the best dumplings I've tried so far. Main course was good too. For main course tried mango pudding which is the perfect ending for the meal. Dumplings are must try. Go give it a try!
Chaitali Mandal (@The_Snacking_Gypsy)
I was at Mainland China today to try our their celebratory Chinese New Year menu that comprises of almost 20 dishes and will be available for a fortnight from now!
To begin with, I had the Lung fung chicken soup - also referred to as Dragon's soup and Dragon phoenix soup, is a thick seafood or gou rou soup made with lemon, chili peppers, chicken, and Chinese vegetables. Other variations could include a vegetarian version of the same with mushrooms and tofu.

Moving on to the beginning starters, I had the match stick potatoes with truffel oil - they're the leanest of alumettes you will ever see at a restaurant and enhanced with sea salt.

My most favorite ever veg dumpling from Mainland China has to be their Philadelphia cheese dumpling - smooth Philadelphia cheese wrapped in paper thin rice flour and steamed to perfection, it's the most delicate burst of flavours in the mouth.

Also, the pan fried Japanese mushroom dumplings were made Kothey style so you could enjoy it's taste partly in steamed and partly in fried form that made it more interesting to taste.

For non vegetarian starters, I had the five spice chicken that contained hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and five spice powder. Five Spice Powder is a blend of cinnamon, cloves, fennel, star anise, and Szechwan peppercorns. Some recipes also contain ginger, nutmeg, and licorice that gives it a very rich flavour.

The lemon grass fish - fried fish is a delicacy in itself and adding lemon grass to it further enhances it's flavours.

For main course, it was an absolute gala of clay pot vegetables, sliced with pickled chilli and black bean, sichuan steamed fish with fresh coriander - you can opt to have these with Singapore style fried noodles but I'd highly recommend that you enjoy the bold flavours with steamed rice to be able to appreciate each and every dish individually.

To end such a fabulous meal, they had offered Mango pudding and steamed coconut dumplings - of which the later was a rather Indian take on dumplings.

All in all, it was a defined deliciously celebratory menu and I can't wait to try the dumplings any sooner.

The ambiance was good, they had menu in tablet which was something new and I liked it but if talk about food it was not that great, I felt like I came to a normal Chinese restaurant and not to mainland china

Great service by Mr.Suryamani. Excellent suggestions of food. Very kind and humble person. Must visit for Chinese food.

Though the menu food choices are extremely limited and me being a basa fish hater. Kumar Singh serving at my table, gave special attention to create a dish with seer fish instead of basa. Which really says they go beyond words about their hospitality and attention to customers. Noodles was good. Ofcourse best part of a good meal is a great dessert and the brownie with vanilla ice cream and Choco syrup sizzler, did make this dinner a memorable meal. Manager was very kind to check on us if we were having a good time. Thank you Mainland China.
Nitin
Mainland china is losing its advantage of best indian Chinese taste. Veg manchow soup taste was very bad. It had burnt feeling

If you love Chinese food and haven't been to Mainland China, trust me you are missing bigtime. I love the ambience, crowd and service but best part is their food. Chicken corriender soup that they serve is the best I ever had anywhere, I am not a big fan of sea food, but I like everything they serve in sea food specially the fish & prawn.

Ambience- Very nicely decorated for the holidays. Good music, spacious and well lit.

Pocket Friendly- Costly for the quality of food.

Food- Shangsi Crabmeat Soup was bland yet delicious. It was thick and had generous quantity of shredded Crabmeat and Eggs.

Tom Yum Prawn Soup was sweet rather than spicy. It had good quantity of fresh and juicy Prawns and Mushrooms but the sweetness spoiled the taste.

Forbidden Punch was absolutely chilled and refreshing mocktail with Vanilla cream and Hazelnut flavour. It had a tangy Cranberry and Pineapple flavour.

Mango and Jalapeno Martini was tasty and chilled. The combination of sweet and spicy was good.

Seafood Fried Rice was average as it was bland even though it had good quantity of fresh Fish and Prawns.

Chocolate Dome with warm Chocolate was visually very stunning but lacked taste. The Brownies in it were not baked fresh and had a smell.

Popcorn was unnecessary. There were some crackers in it that were extremely hard. Nothing went right with the warm chocolate sauce.

Only saviour was the Vanilla Icecream.

Service- Extremely hospitable and polite. They gave us Vanilla Icecream and Rice Wafers complementary.

Rating- 3.5 as food was not extraordinary for the price charged.

Krishna was the person taking care and serving on. our table and I would like to give him a separate 5 star to keep a good attention over the food ordered , when it it arrives in table and when we need to wind up and helping us to order something good.

1. We ordered one starter of pomfret which was smelling, couldn’t eat.
2. In main course we ordered one Preparation of smoky chicken. This preparation looked good but as we started eating we felt over salted. So couldn’t eat,

This time MLC gave a horrible experience. Conveyed the same to the waiters. Probably our last visit here.

I went to this outlet along with my family for dinner. Mainland china Church street outlet is really a chilled out place with
pleasant ambience. If you are a Chinese lover then you should visit this place to fill your stomach with delicious Chinese food.
we have started with a couple of soups like 'Sweet corn soup with Chicken' & 'Eight Treasure soup with seafood', both are soo tasty with good quantity also.
I f you like prawns then you should try 'King prawns within smoked chilli sauce' but remember that this item is little bit of spicy
but taste is up to the mark, also you can try 'Lobster with Sichuan chilli sauce' or 'Mix see food in a hot pot' in this item you can get more than four types of seafood in your plate.
I loved momos too much so I have tried two types of momo item over there and it was really amazing in taste. In the noodles section
you can go with 'wok Tossed Hakka Noodles' or 'Japanese Wheat Noodles' (Different in taste than regular noodles).

So, guys, I'm pure non-vegetarian so whatever I have tasted over there max is mainly non-veg section.

Though the Pricing is a bit high, but all staff are friendly and provided nice service. I was really happy.
Overall it's a nice place to chill out with family or friends.

Ambience: 4.3/5
Food: 4.5/5
Drink: 4/5
Service: 4.7/5

Highly recommend...

After a long time, me & husband decided to perk up our gloomy Sunday with some buffet lunch. That’s when we decided to go to Mainland. This is the oldest chain and I remember visiting in 2000! Those erstwhile days, this happened to one of the best dining place.
Food - The buffet spread is quite impressive.
The starters are very fresh and delicious too. They served pan seared fish, chicken, sea food dimsums, grilled chicken. Everything is tasty!
The main spread has combination of noodles, rice, I personally liked their burnt garlic butter noodles, the non veg sushi was absolutely yummy.
The dessert option includes the bread butter pudding, chocolate cake, caramel pudding (all these desserts were yummy and worth keeping some space ), however, the fruit custard was not tasteful.
They also give complimentary kingfisher beer
Customer service- Decent
Ambience- Lot of zen kind paintings as a background. Wooden panels and simple decor. Was pretty crowded, looked like they have some loyal clientele
Value for money- Decent

Chikken hakka noodles and fish in clay pot was amazing

Food was good as usual. Service not so much. The table attendant was indifferent and seemed irritated whenever requested for anything at all. Usually Mainland China's service is top notch, but the setvice in thia branch was not good. Better head out to Indira nagar branch for a complete dining experience.

Mainland China at Churchstreet is definitely the go to spot to satisfy my Chinese food cravings, when at Bangalore!
Visited it recently and many years before that, and nice to know they've still maintained the quality!
The entrance and entire setting, promises fine Chinese cuisine and the food delivers just that. The dimly lit dining area, with modern furnishings of dark tones, perfectly accentuates the Asian atmosphere.

Drums of heaven (chicken lollipop tossed in Hong Kong style sauce) is one of my favorite starters here. The light sauce makes the chicken more succulent.
One of the best kimchi's and picked cucumber- tangy, salty and packed with flavour! Jasmine tea is a warm refreshing offer.
For mains, Chilly Basil Fish in Clay pot makes for a good hearty meal and goes well with just some good ol' chicken fried rice.
Service mimicked the looks, formal and professional.
Chefs harness an exotic Asian flavour to each dish and this keeps me coming back for more.
