Review Oota Bangalore - Bengaluru

If you want authentic cuisine from all parts Karnataka then this is the place to be. The food is delicious and refreshing change while we are moving towards experiences away this will bring you back to your childhood memories if you’re from Karnataka. If not from Karnataka then it’s place to be again to taste authentic high quality local cuisines.

It's a great place in Whitefield, and one shouldn't miss this place to have authentic food from different parts of South India. Their pricing is bit on the higher side, and default, they mention 10% as service charge, which can be neogitated based on the service they offered to you

Amazing restaurant with a unique concept of exploring the regional dishes of Karnataka. We are much more familiar with North Indian food, but were excited to try cuisine local to Bangalore. The server helped us pick dishes that went together, and we felt their vegetarian selection was quite good. We LOVED the pineapple curry, but really everything was amazing. Can’t wait to visit again.

Loved having meals here so far. Have been here twice for lunch on separate occasions and both times have been great. The food is the winner here. There is a wide variety of dishes from across Karnataka that I had never tasted. I liked the fact that the menu covers vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes from some coastal regions as well as communities from North Karnataka that many people aren’t aware of. The food tastes really good. I don’t have a yardstick to compare the authenticity but the taste hits the right spots. Love the desserts here too. Tried all Andy can definitely vouch for most. Do give it a try. I’m sure you will find the food fantastic.

For food am going with 3 because am not familiar with Karnataki /Mangalore food. Yes friends, this restaurant serves authentic food/cocktails of Katnataka. Few are very spicy, and few are mixture of tangyness and hotness. 🌶. In prawn starter prawn shunti munchi In chicken starter chicken sukka are must try. The very spicy Sauji chicken curry goes very well with steam rice. Punarpuli is a tangy beverage made from Kokam. Bele Holige (kind of puran poli) is the show stopper in desert Moksha in cocktail you can try. Staffs are very decent n warm and insist to have food with hands instead of 🍴.

It is a beautiful place to have authentic kannada cuisine. We had kori roti and chicken gassi. Some of us had donne biriyani and chicken ghee roast. Food quality is awesome .There are both indoor and outdoor seating options. We selected outdoors- amazing breezes and settings. They also serve crafted beer and are a must-have . You should also try the sweet dishes, which bring out the hidden gems of karnataka.

Read this before visiting Oota The booking experience at oota is a task. The phone number isn’t available and the online booking doesn’t give a prompt response whether we were able to book a seat or not. The vibe of the place is a really spot on the atmosphere they have created is captivating. The staff helped us out with all the dishes explaining us what each dish constitute of and the heritage behind it. The chicken ghee roast is a banger. You must order it. The neer dosa and kundapur is a great combination. Definitely a must visit for the atmosphere.

Simple and elegant india ambience. Good food Balvinder was serving us and he was very pleasant and first time I see someone requesting the guest to enjoy the food with the hands and not cutlery. High end place yet simple and grounded. Loved the over all experience

We went with high expectations and they were absolutely met and then some. The place looks beautiful and is warm and welcoming. The decor with bells is a great touch. Service was excellent overall but some minor details should been paid more attention to(example we were missing a glass and a plate on a table of four. Silverware arrived after the appetizers were already on the table) -but that was minor and forgivable. The food is very authentic, tasted fresh, was well presented and was delicious. The menu is elaborate and I don’t think we even scratched the surface of what they have to offer. Seafood items were the stars. Cocktails are also good and have a wide variety also. It’s a high end place so don’t expect a cheap meal. I am still relishing the tatse if their food and am already planning my next visit.

Excellent place for traditional authentic karnataka food. I tried jola rotti and yenne badnekayi palya - very tasty. Service was really good and staff was friendly. I asked for extra grated coconut and they gave without any hesitation. Bele paysa and carrot kismuri was also good. The place has good ambience and has outdoor seating. Perfect place to get office visitor or even with family. Will definitely go back and try other items.

What an experience!! Food connoisseurs or not, you will fall in love with this place. Everything feels perfect.. Amazing ambience, warm service and great staff...The wood and brass decor stands out, giving a very bold and loud traditional feel..yet very calm and soothing.. The cuisine and menu is out of this world..Every dish has a story and the aroma/flavor will seem very different from what one is used to.....very sophisticated..your olfactory and taste glands will go berserk 😄 You will not find any cutlery inside as the staff insists you need to eat with your hands, to relish the flavors.. The team does more than justice to the way food needs to be had, and enjoyed...veg or non veg, it's a great experience to dive in. Excellent work team..Oota sakkathagithu 👌

Oota Bangalore is a must-visit for anyone who loves traditional Karnataka cuisine. The restaurant offers an extensive menu of dishes that are cooked to perfection and showcase the authentic flavors of the region. The prawn ghee roast is a standout dish that is bursting with flavor. The prawns are cooked to perfection and the ghee and spices provide a perfect balance of sweetness and spice. The variety of rotis served at Oota Bangalore is impressive, and they pair perfectly with the mutton rasa. The mutton is cooked to perfection, with tender meat that falls off the bone and a rich and flavorful sauce that is sure to impress. One of the unique aspects of Oota Bangalore is the complimentary papad served with five different chutneys. This is a great way to sample different flavors and add some variety to your meal. The restaurant is also true to its Karnataka roots, and guests are encouraged to eat with their hands, though they do provide spoons for those who prefer. It is worth noting that the food budget at Oota Bangalore is on the higher side. However, the quality of the food and the experience make it a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to explore traditional Karnataka cuisine. In summary, Oota Bangalore is a fantastic restaurant that serves delicious and authentic Karnataka cuisine. The prawn ghee roast and mutton rasa are must-try dishes, and the complimentary papad with chutney is a great added touch. While the food budget may be on the higher side, the quality of the food and the overall experience make it a great value. I highly recommend Oota Bangalore to anyone looking for a unique culinary experience in Bangalore!

Enjoyed the tasty coastal Karnataka food. Do not know if valet parking is avaiable.

Starting with the ambiance, Oota Bangalore has a traditional and rustic look that perfectly complements the authentic dishes they serve. The seating arrangement is comfortable, and the overall atmosphere is inviting. Moving on to the food, the restaurant offers a wide range of Karnataka delicacies that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. The jowar roti, neer dosa, Donne biryani, yenne badnekayi, and sabbakki vade are all popular dishes that are a must-try for any foodie. The chicken ghee roast and mutton curry are cooked to perfection and are bursting with flavor. The service at Oota Bangalore is impressive, with friendly and attentive staff always on hand to assist you. The presentation of the food is also noteworthy, with each dish beautifully plated and presented. Lastly, the desserts at Oota Bangalore are simply divine. The gudbud ice cream is a must-try, and it's the perfect way to end your meal on a sweet note. In summary, Oota Bangalore is a top-notch restaurant that offers a unique and authentic taste of Karnataka cuisine. With its impressive range of dishes, excellent service, and inviting atmosphere, it's definitely worth a visit. This was my most awaited lunch at Oota Bangalore. The service was apt and the staffs explained each recipe with ease. We had great time.

Went for their sankranti special thali. Guess it is authentic and different. Not used to the food and hence can’t recommend as for me personally it was exotic but not too tastily exciting . Loved the dessert, the payasam and the mango drink at the start . Papadam was good . Service was at high standards as always . Location is calm and serene . Would love to try something else next time

The best in hyper-local Karnataka Cuisine .. Oota is one of my favourite restaurants to feast on Karnataka cuisine all the way from North to South Karnataka. The food is delicious, the drinks are awesome and the overall ambience is fantastic.. and to top it all, everyone right from the reception to the folks attending you on your table are very warm, welcoming and helpful. The prices are definitely worth the quality, ambience and overall experience. Highly recommended. (I always get busy eating as soon as the food arrive, will try capturing more photos on my next visit)

A must place to try out with family, friends or a date. Having South Indian food with some amazing drinks is what you need during a Friday evening dinner. You get papads with different chutneys to start with. Loved the biryani and the fish dishes. A beautiful and calm ambience with some light music and you will a nice evening in your hands

Oota Bangalore presents an enchanting culinary voyage through Regional South Indian fare within an elegant, wood-paneled setting adorned with temple bell fixtures. The restaurant offers a refined atmosphere that enhances the dining experience. The menu showcases a diverse range of authentic flavors, capturing the essence of South Indian cuisine with precision. From traditional dosas to aromatic curries, each dish is a testament to the chef's dedication to preserving and elevating the rich culinary heritage. Oota Bangalore is a delightful haven for those seeking a taste of tradition in a sophisticated and welcoming environment.

Absolutely fabulous menu, backed by fantastic taste! Each dish was not just delicious, but also authentic. Some dishes I haven't found in any other restaurant in Bangalore. The staff are very well trained, not just at service but also in their knowledge of the wine selection and how to serve it. If you're a foodie and it's authentic karnataka cuisine you want, even as a local bangalorean, this is a must do for your gastronomic list.

Coffee - best one I've had outside my house! And the food has been absolutely great both times I've eaten (an understatement - hogged until I could put nothing more into my mouth).

Absolutely delicious! Each dish was authentic & staffs are very friendly. Good ambiance & well maintained place. Good for ppl who like authentic Karnataka food.
Ashwin Vijayakumar
It's not the typical Karnataka Authentic taste as it is claimed. Ambiance is good and the service standards are also prompt with exclusive attention. It's definitely not worth worth the cost.
Tuhin Mohanta
Very good ambiance, prompt professional service. We had Kokam based drinks to start with, followed by coastal Karnataka chicken khuska and Mysore mutton pulao. All of the dishes were very good considering I have fair enough idea about the cuisine. I will definitely recommend having a visit with your near and dear ones.

The ambience, the people, behaviour of staff and last but not least the food.....it all screams first class and guess what the prices are reasonable.

A cusine I’m not familiar with but every time I eat, it’s a adventure for the tastebuds! Paired with a great selection of beers, this is my go to joint everyone I visit the city.

Great service, very tasty and varied cuisines of Karnataka, coupled with stellar home brewed beer. Worth every paisa. Windmills upped their game to a whole new level.

Great, authentic Kannada cuisine. >532 dishes only from Karnataka!!

This is what carefully crafted food tastes like. Great qualities of a restaurant which is a must try is a curated and short menu. It simply means, the Chef has great focus on what he intends to serve the customers. Oota Bengaluru simply lives upto all the expectations of finesse and authenticity. Must try. Cannot stress that enough.

I have been to Oota multiple times and generally love the place, service and obviously the food.
In the current lockdown period, I was pleased to see that they have started offering delivery as well.
Over the last weekend I had ordered it again. As always, the food was cooked to perfection with an authentic and distinct flavor. Chicken Kundapur, Chicken Ghee roast, Mangalore chicken sukka were exquisite as usual. Akki roti and jolada roti were soft, well-cooked with little bit a smokey flavor to give a complete Akki /Jolada roti experience.
I love coastal food and it's part of my regular diet. I thought this food was by far the best amongst all the restaurant food. (And that also includes Mahesh lunch home in Pune - which is considered as great coastal food over there). And then, Mangalore Fish Curry! Fish have fishy smell but there us a way to remove the bad fishy smell and retain the good fishy smell. We do that at home. And only a skilled chef can do that magic in restaurant. The curry on its own was excellent - right mix of coconut, spices and tangy taste. The fish in the curry was fresh and perfectly cleaned to ensure it retains the good fishy flavor. A perfect companion to my neer dosa as well as white rice.
A little bit about restaurant service here - Zomato misplaced the curry from my order. I called up restaurant to check if they forgot to send. I also called Zomato and it turned out that it was Zomato's fault. Zomato immediately initiated refund for the curry. And then I received a call from restaurant and they offered to send the curry! I told them about Zomato refund and asked not to send the curry. The good natured and extremely hospitable voice from the other end of the phone insisted and I caved in - for the love of that Fish curry. Oota prepared a fresh curry and sent one their personnel to deliver that single food item to my house - at no charge!! It was overwhelming for me.
I would give them 7 stars out of 5, if possible!
Bhask
Kheema curry was so spicy..i think chef didn't taste it.. It was like eating just green chillies. Please make sure it's eatable. Also oil was floating like crazy.

Oota Bengaluru is one of the fine casual dining and Good place to go with family and friends.I had Murg Ghee roast, Food was really very mouth-watering & very courteous staff.
Warm hospitality, pleasant atmosphere and very much comfortable place.

Awesome ambience very well done interior....classy place to hangout....with very soothing music....and food is very good

This was a place where I have waited to visit for quite long as a friend referred. First, the distance between Vaidehi hospital (my office) and Otta Bangalore is just a kilometre. That is the biggest advantage! Ambiance has perfect effect of any holy place - quite, lofty and added to it soothing slow music❣️ Also they never give spoons and folks unless you ask for it! One of the staffs politely said, as we serve authentic Karnataka food we don’t provide cutlery; we smiled and said we love to eat with our hand! So, it was very homely feel as well. If you love coconut flavour, this place is a must visit! From starters to dessert how many items have coconut as major ingredients. We ordered for only vegetarian dishes but every dish was perfect👌 There was an Elaneer drink made out of tender coconut and coconut milk - OMG! It tasted heavenly! Only for that wow factor, I gave 5 stars👏

Recently visited this restaurant.. great ambience.. friendly staff.. you will find Karnataka authentic food.. loved ghee roasted prawns, Donne Biryani, Neer dosa, mutton curry.. all tasted yummy.. 😍😍 loved it..
Ps : couldn't take the pics of food as they were serving and need to have food using hand not 🥄😊

This restaurant is on 7th floor of the building. It has a unique simple and elegant ambience where roof is decorated with temple bells. As soon as you get your table they provide complimentary Rice Papad with couple chutney to munch on while waiting for the food.

Khara Kadubu which is rice dumplings and filled with lentil and gram flour but I couldn’t taste any of it because of the dominating taste of a asafoetida.
Mangalore Chicken Sukka was not upto the expectation coconut wasn’t grated well there was few big chunk of it was easily seen.
I liked Prawn Ghee Roast, prawns were aromatic, springy, juicy and nicely cooked with masala.
Anjal Fish Fry was loaded with masala crumps and a strong raw flavour of fish was very prominent may be fish wasn’t marinated well in advance.
Khara Boti is a very simple dish in which only salt and turmeric goes along with a little ghee and it was very mild and juicy dish.
Mutton Donne Biryani was a usual Jeera rice mutton biryani.
Malpuri was very balanced in sweet not too much or less perfect balance but portion was very tiny.
Gadbad Ice Cream Sundae is a nice way to end your meal.

Overall food was good in taste but whole experience couldn’t justify to cost.

Used to be a fan... things have changed😪.. today’s experience 👇
1. At 8 PM, with starters, the waiter was insistent we need to place the main course order.
2. We had to place main course order when we came in, and just when the starter was served the waiter denied to change the main course order, cause I wanted changes
3. Asked for Cutlery, earlier we were explained that they generally prefer us to eat by hand, today, the waiter was curt to say “you have to eat by hand”. I had to intervene explaining to my guest the concept and the had to insist to the waiter to get cutlery.
4. Because of the above waiter was acting weird and after taking order of repeat of drinks, didn’t place the order till he had to be asked again.
5. Kids wanted to have simple vanilla ice cream. They didn’t thake it in the menu, but had Gadbad Icecream, basically Indian Tuty Fruity. When I asked him to get I u the vanila I dream and leave out the fruits, waiter replied he cannot do it. Either I have tuty fruity or no I cream.
6. Frustrated, I asked him to give me the tuty fruity, and give me an extra bowl to remove the other condiments by myself.
7. Lastly when the supervisor came, finally some erstwhile service was redeemed, however, I don’t think I’ll take any of my special guests there any more.
One of fav place, but I think time changes the places...😪😪😪
Alternative - Coast to Coast, similar food, good taste, significantly cheaper, hence no expectations of fine dining experience....🙏

While I think the idea is really innovative and I like Windmills Craftworks personally, I don't think this cuisine is for everyone. Some of the stuff was okay but overall I don't think it would draw us back in for another visit.

One of the best restaurants to have authentic Karnataka food.Brilliant food, excellent ambiance and fantastic service. Nice place among to have the authentic Kannada's delicacies . Staffs give suggestion on selecting a dish. Tried mangalore chicken sukka, neer dosa, akki roti.

Taste of the food is pathetic.
I don't even know how people eat here.
I was to totally disappointed.
Nothing was good in taste.
I would say this place is just show off and is worst when talking about taste .
Nothing tastes like an authentic South Indian dish

After seeing the story behind Oota Bangalore on my random food dives, I was super intrigued to try the food for myself. I am happy to report- it did not disappoint.
The chutney platter is super interesting with garlic chutney podi, flaxseed chutney podi, ivy gourd chutney, channa chutney and the last one I cant quite remember served with a side of papad varieties-yum!
The coolers were great especially my orange majjige 🤤 which happened to be the flavour for the day.
The brinjal salad was superb with its julienne ginger bits and buttermilk with mustard base-esque dressing.
For the main course, we had sannas(soooper fluffy),jolada roti(aka sorghum roti) and neer dosa with Menasaki( a sweet and spicy mango dish) and Dodda Menasinakai Yengayi (Dodda Menasinakai= baby capsicum). For dessert we had a coconut gulkand payasam-which was good but nothing to rave about.
We travelled from Bannerghatta to Whitefield(my Bangalore peeps know what it means to get from my side of town till Whitefield-I have always refused to move myself so far) for this culinary treat and I'm happy to say it was well worth it for anyone who wants to experience Karnataka cuisine at its authentic best with a really pretty ambience ❤ Two thumbs up for this one👍🏻

The word oota means meals in Kannada language.
One of the finest place in Whitefield located near KTPO.
LAVISH place with unique theme of bells around as you enter.
Open balcony spot to dine and even inside dining is available.

Gassi aloo was something very tasy i tried with neer dosa it was very tasty.

Plain rice and dal was great satisfying at the end.

They serve rice papad till your meal arrives, so you don't stay hungry.

Do visit Oota Bangalore to have a great night and enjoyable lunch.

Oota has recently compromising on the quality of food. The Cori chicken curry I ordered today was totally a bad quality dish. The chicken pieces had a very bad stink probably a old one. The time they take to serve literally was 43 mins . Time taken to bring a finger bowl was 19 mins . OOTA has been compromised with a lot of crowd they get on recent days. Totally disappointed
Ramya
Nice place that serves coastal karnataka cuisine. The ambience, food and service are good and therefore the cost is accordingly charged which is little higher that other resturants. There is valet service available and once you have paid the bill you can give a missed call or click the link shared to get your car near entrance. We ordered mangalore chicken sukka, neer dosa, akki roti, kori curry and sugarcane juice. All were good and we enjoyed dinning here.
Suresh Menon
If Windmills was my favorite microbrewery in Bangalore, the experience in Oota was the icing in the cake. Full marks for ambience, service and food along with the craft beer! We ordered yam with coconut fry, capsicum bhajjis, prawn ghee roast and Mangalorean chicken with wheat beer. Except for the Mangalorean chicken which was not marinated enough, the rest were very tasty.

Very poor quality food.. tasteless... made by a chef who does not know anything about food
Who knew the south indian affair could go gourmet. If you have that extra money to spend and have an appreciation for south indian food then don't miss out on this place. It really elevates the presentation and taste of basic south indian cooking. Never really disappoints.

Visited here on Sunday for lunch. We were 4 adults & 1 kid & a toddler. Looking at the reviews this place seemed popular & as expected was crowded when we arrived around 1.30pm. Though we didn’t have a reservation we were seated within 5miniutes.

Ambience was ok, nothing fancy or extraordinary.

Ordered Chicken chukka, Manji tawa fry, Navayath biriyani (mutton), Shaiyya Jhinga biriyani (prawns), Nati Koli Pulimanchi (chicken curry), Plain Rice, Naveri (rice dumpling with coconut & chicken fillling), Chukka Roti (Chappathi). All food items seemed to have been freshly cooked. Tasted ok, again nothing extraordinary or special to mention. Prawn biryani was a total disappointment. All juices on offer seemed to be canned ones like Tropicana. Staff do advice us this when we order juice. We ordered 3 anyway.

Service team seemed to be understaffed to handle with all tables occupied.

Price certainly is slightly on the higher side. Our total bill crossed ₹6000.

At that price certainly better service & tastier food should have been offered I thought.

The subtle taste, great preparation and relaxed ambience sets it apart. I look forward to my next visit to try something new. Great for family outings.

Yummy Food with the Best Beer in Town? Why Not?
This Place offers a nice variety of interesting Cocktails and Windmills Beer needs No Introduction.
Very well laid out ambience, with Indoor and Outdoor Seating Available.
Table Booking is Highly Recommended .
Currently One of My Favourite South Indian Fusion Restaurants in Bangalore.
Have been visiting this place at least twice a month :D
The food here is Very Rich In Flavour and will definitely please your taste Buds!
The Food Menu isn't really vast.
Not Many Great Options if you are a Pure Vegetarian.

Service is Good!
I'd rate it

Ambience: 9/10

Food : 9/10
.
Service: 9/10
.

Value for Money : 7/10.
(Average Cost Per Person with Liquor would be about 1200)

Must Try:
Starters: Mangalore Chicken Sukka & Sungta Masala(Prawns)
Mains: Ghee Roast Chicken with Neer Dosa and Chicken Kori Curry.
Jitesh.kankaliya
Service is very slow they said they cook things once you arrive, so go when you have all the time to spend. Never order mocktails, all they give you is glass full of ice. I ordered sugarcane mojito and it was 90% ice in the glass. food is okay but nothing is authentic. Akki roti n jowar roti are very bad, the only good thing was the papad they gave.
Amit Pathak
I really liked the open air ambience and the service over here...the orders were quick and the beers chilled....what else do u want on a Friday afternoon....

Great Ambience very neat and clean restaurant Perfect balance of spices Authentic Karnataka food, I loved Anjal fish fry and chicken biryani prawn biryani is also must try, Sheer khurma was delicious.

Went to “Oota” for lunch on 18th sep. It was a very welcome atmosphere, very relaxed roof top seating over looking green roofs of Windmills of the mind . The staff was very courteous and quite knowledgable about items on the menu. However, the food is Karnataka cuisine and some items would need acquired taste. We enjoyed starters like banana flower ambode which was fresh and crispy and Anjal fish fry which was very fresh with unique taste of dey roasted coconut powder spice on the fish. The mains were beer dosa and kori curry which was passable. Chicken biriyani was also fine. Elaneer payasam we ordered for dessert was a disappointment as my comparison is always with the same dessert I have a Taj coramndal in chennai. The prices are also too steep and can be moderated.
Lalitha Indrakanti
Hospitality at it's best... not only they know their cuisine quite well but also able to make right suggestions on the quantity and pairing... very happy sunday lunch.
Vikasreddy9999
I will not suggest oota for anyone ,food is too bad and prices are so high so better choose other place

I came here for a professional catch-up, insisted by colleagues. The ambience was great for a drink or two or more if you want to.

Food is not so good, courteous staff, they did not have dry items to go along with our drinks.

I somehow did not feel it was value for money at all.
Ranjini Nambiar
Well spent Saturday at Oota with awesome food as always... Anjal fry, Pandi curry..all super and to wash it down with the brews from Windmills Craftworks is an added bonus. Service was excellent.. My brother clicked a pic of the friendly steward as well😁😁
Rachit Kumar
The staffs are not courteous at all. Instead of understanding the customer they underrate them. Just because we choose to order in a different way, the person attending us started boasting about something completely irrelevant (about his 17 years of experience and that this had never happened before). The feeling was if you want to eat here, you have to do it our way.

This apart they seemed to carry lot of attitude in general and seemed extremely disconnected with us. I am in Karnataka since last 14 years and I have never met a person so rude from this state. Specially when they are trying to sell the culture of this state. They lagged decency at all levels.

Moreover they insist on eating with hand, but they show off using touch pad. I am not sure how a person can extend his order, this is also a major hygienic issue. Even the touch pad provided was not working properly.

In short it was a disappointment, people in normal messes have much better behavior and sometimes much better food.
Nishant Agrawal
Visited this place with colleagues for a dinner. Staff was attentive and knew their menu and guests very well. They kind of customized for each one of us. Food is scrumptious and authentic. Dining experience was among the best. Ambience was also soothing yet lively.
Rima Borah
The food here is really good. Do try the Anjal Fish Fry, Pandi Curry and Ghee roast chicken The Prawns biryani was a bit of let down.
But the poor rating is solely because of the poor service. Drinks ordered were assumed cancelled by the waiter whereas we were waiting for it for more than 30 minutes. Most of the staff's attention was on a group of 20 people or so who had pre-booked a section of the restaurant for corporate lunch.
Ashwarya Mohapatra
If you are looking for traditional local cuisines with a pinch of classy then this is the perfect place for you.

Few dishes that are part of the offering have originated in the state and there are few which have been taken from other communities and made popular in the state like the Savji dish Khara Boti.

The place has a very cultural appeal to it. Everything around you has a richness to it be it be the decor or the food. It’s one those very few restaurants in my list where almost all the items in the menu are special in their own way and packed with massive flavours.

I tried the beet root salad, khara Boti from north Karnataka, naeveri from central Karnataka, kori curry from coastal Karnataka and some Neer dosas. All of them were insanely delicious. The icing on the cake were the Gulkand payasam and the Sheer Khuram. The sheer richness in the sweet dishes simply filled me with happiness.

In true meanings a rich, traditional and mouth watering culinary experience. A must go for everyone and I myself can’t wait to visit again and get my hands on the insanely tasty beetroot salad ( absolute personal favorite 😍)

Awesome ambience... One of the best food I've had in Bengaluru... Karnataka authentic food. Prices high but not that high also. Ambience is great for a family lunch or dinner.
K
I somehow never enjoyed their service and food. If you are new to south india then it might be ok. all starter items for veg are deep fried and other items are also using a lot of oils. I always have heartburn when I have food there. Also, container they use for parcel is the cheapest one with aluminum container with paper lid which doesn’t look like the quality I payed for the food. I also felt uncomfortable from their service in the way they are “too” proud to be serving Karnataka food. Instead of just saying no, they were like “we prefer to do blah blah because that’s what we do in Karnataka”. I felt humiliated asking something extra which people in Karnataka don’t do.
Sorry for the low score and negative points on this restaurant. But wanted to share since this restaurant seems to get high reputation but I really don’t find something extraordinary other than the view from balcony.
Rajeev Dadhe
Very ordinary food. Great beer. Rates do not match the food. Disappointed. Would not recommend. They serve very simple home like dishes that you can get from n a cheap thali type restaurant. Why go to such an expensive place?
Neena Virdi
This is a fine dining South Indian place which serves authentic South Indian food from various regions with a touch of modern dining experience. I loved their ambience, it is calm , modern yet with a touch of tradition. I tried mangalore buns, goli bajji,Madurai wada for starters & Jawar roti with brinjal curry for main course. Everything tasted very good plus they have a good number of chutneys which further adds to the taste. They use tablets to give you a visual experience of the food menu .
Coming to their staff , they are polite & well learned about the food being served.

Tried it a couple of times as it is walking distance but the place missed the mark on both occasion. Not many choices if you are a vegetarian and the ones on menu are not really tasty. Even the non veg items are so so. It may ring a bell to people from coastal Karnataka but for the rest, its a place high on decor, heavy on wallet and not much anything else.

Excellent taste of recepies. A definite and must try place. Authentic food. Every item very well prepared with each spice in right quantities.

Yup I loved this place. Coastal South Indian cuisine at its best. The ambience is airy pleasant and chic. The service is up to the mark. They explain the dishes as they serve them. Everything ordered turned out to be amazing. Chicken ghee roast with meet dosa took the 1st place for me. Among the desserts the pudding with khus khus was amazing. The prices are not sky high as well. Extra tip: three other place that kills at the same cuisine is kanua in the other part of town.
Amazing food and ambience.
Had lunch there on weekend. Very warm staff and authentic South indian food. They give papadams and few chutneys n powders complimentary too which were really yummy.

Went to lunch at Oota on a Saturday afternoon. We started off with coriander majjige, thy was flavoursome and refreshing. Their assorted papads and accompanying chutneys were immediately demolished by my son.
We ordered mensinkay mandakki and enjoyed the crisp bajjis and lemony mandakki. They should consider making the mandakki a separate offering, I wouldn’t mind ordering that alone.
The goli bajji were light, and the Khara kadubu well shapes with a good amount of stuffing. The ginger chutney served with the kadabu was especially good.
For mains we had the Davanagere benne dose and jolad rotti with capcicum gravy. Both were well made and enjoyable.
We finished the meal with coconut gulkand payasa and Elneer payasa, a sweet finish to a splendid meal.

Been planning to get to Oota for 6 months or more , but finally was able to get to it yesterday. The eagerness to go to Oota was doubled also because they won the best/emerging restaurant of then year award recently. The drive to Whitefield isn't a joke , but with the kids sleeping in the car , the travel was less harrowing ..... Wanted to get a reservation before landing there and multiple tries din't yield any result in getting through to anyone, so had to ping mandaar sukhtankar to help with it, thus giving away the surprise ... there after I kept getting calls reminding me of the booking - found it a little amusing , but in their defence the restaurant was also running full.

The ambience is very pleasant and warm , nothing too fancy , but the bells on the top make for a nice change... Since I was with family and not knowing the quantity of food served , I stuck to vegetarian fare ( in hindsight , shouldn't have ). Menu is on ipads , so a little fancy , would have been nice to even place orders through them ... We chose sabakki vade ( sabudana vada ) - the Dil leaves used it it gave it a nice flavour of its own , suvarna gedde kismuri ( fried yam juliennes ) , Mangalore buns for starters , batata gassi for mains along with sannas and neer dosa. The kids has benne dosa .... The sannas were extremely light , so was the neer dosa , personally for me I would have liked to eat it with Kori gassi ... For dessert we had elaneer payasa. Having been used to eating the one in simply south , this one was much less sweeter and more dense (possibly due to rice flour ) ... All in all it was a very pleasant meal , but I think for me the excitement would lie in their non veg offerings which would need another visit for sure ... Cost wise , extremely economical given Blr rates I've seen .. I would really like to see a sampler platter with a small serving of their different types of offerings per meat variety ... If travelling with kids, they have a cute reading corner where kids may find some means to kill time ... #thegastronomix
#exploringBengaluru #windmills #Lunch #Karnatka

I absolutely love this place. The food is great, the ambience is great and the service is impeccable. The waiters are quick to suggest recommendations and helpful to navigate through the fairly complex menu.
The only negatives is that it is slightly overpriced. But the cuisine almost unlike anything you will taste anywhere else.
Must try dishes include their pineapple gojju and neer dosas. ALL of the starters are absolutely delicious. Also, for those of you who like a slight spice hit, talk to the waiters about altering your order. The food itself, isn't very spicy.

Also I recommend making a reservation a couple of days. It gets quite crowded and they don't usually entertain you without a reservation.

One of the wonderful south India cuisine restaurant. We have ordered rice rotti poppu pyasa and some of the name I forgot. Everything was delicious . Amazing staff , very friendly and was explaning every dish which was getting served to us. Must try place.

Finally, a classy place to enjoy authentic Karnataka cuisine! Loved their Davanagere Bene Dosa, Mangalore Buns, Pineapple Kesari Bath which they serve only on their weekend breakfast menu, and their regional Karnataka dishes are amazing.

Had sabudana for starters. A bit oily. Neer dosas are very good. Had the mushroom curry for mains which was OK. My friends enjoyed the non veg food and liked the fish the most. Frankly i think veg is just OK. Had holige for desserts and loved it.

Want to try authentic Karnataka food with great beer from Craftswork, this is the place. This has been place where I bring my visitors and always got awesome feedback from everyone.

The place has a great ambience and the taste of the food is very good. Loved the pork and chicken dishes there. Loved the beers there particularly Stout beer.

Ambience- 4.5, Food - 4.5, Service quality - 4.5 .

This is a really good place if you like Mangalorean kind of cuisine. Fortunately, I do and I have enjoyed the food multiple times.
The only reason, I don't rate it 5 is because for the prize range, I'd have expected a little more premium experience. But for all practical matters..great place.

The entire windmill joint will take you to a doctor . Only stale food served and a course of antibiotics for a week will accompany. You will land up having cramps and pain so be careful to even taste anything here .

The ambience of this place is exquisite. It's very lavish I must say. Food is good, it almost feels like you are having food at home. Drinks are also great in taste. But I am not impressed with the portion of drinks they serve for the price they charge considering the drinks they serve are not something unique or not available easily. Their service is great, the staff is courteous and always helps with the selection if one gets confused looking at the menu. Overall I am happy with them.

Had gone to windmills for beers with a colleague during the middle of the week and then decided to pop upstairs for dinner. Quite a lovely place with good seating options that are spread well apart so that there’s a bit of private space. The menu is interesting with some very good food and service is top notch as well. Not sure why it’s not as well known or advertised enough.

The food was amazing, great flavours. (4-4.5/5) Ambience-5/5. Value for money- 5/5
Must try: the ghee roasts, sunguta masala (prawns) with neer dosa

Visited this place with colleagues. Ambience at its best. Never been to any south Indian restaurant with such great ambience. Totally Kartanaka cuisine food. Menu was in iPads. Each dish clearly had the description and map pointing out to the place it is from. A bit expensive. Mango delight(4/5). Tried Goli baje, Managalore buns, Maddur vade(4/5). Couldn’t recall few names, heard them for the first time. Overall it was worth visiting.

I always love the brick and wood decor... With the traditional furniture... Also the warm lighting.... Makes one relaxed.... Food was homely and lip smacking..... From the chutney to dessert..... We had a relaxed dinner... The staff was courteous and friendly..... My son enjoyed his time with the books and the food... I would recommend this place for the food, staff and the ambience...

So, this is an upscale place but it is rather confusing. First the positives- the decor is absolutely lovely. There’s brass everywhere and beautiful lighting and seating. So, if you are going there for beers alone, it’s great. But, other things were quite confusing for me. When we arrived, after placing our order we were asked to use our fingers to eat. As a local Bangalorean, this is perfectly fine for me. But their menu was a touch screen pad which made me feel like this place doesn’t care about hygiene. I could see fingerprints on the screen. For an upscale place, charging as they do, this is a big problem for me.

Coming to the food. I loved the pumpkin chutney and the buttermilk. We couldn’t even eat half of the other items we ordered. We stopped ordering after starters because the taste was simply bad. We had Suvarna Gade starter and it had fridge cold grated coconut that had lost all flavour in it. And, it’s not ok that they describe their food as fresh when they bring out refrigerated stuff. The coconut chutney was also fridge cold, making it taste like nothing because all flavour is lost.

The chili bajjis were undercooked with parts of the bajji still hold wet batter and the ambode had uncooked center too.

I was really looking forward to dining here since I live so far away from the place. But, I was hugely disappointed by the taste of the food. Perhaps a person who can put some thought into the concept of this place can do a good job and surely authentic chefs can make Karnataka cuisine stand out fingerlicking good (without touchscreen pads for menus). By thought I mean service staff dresses in traditional wear in a traditional place since they claim to be traditional. That said, the staff are courteous although understaffed for such a place.

As soon as you enter, you'll love the ambience. And by the time you get out, that will be the only thing you will like about the place. Most items are cooked in coconut oil, and if you are not used to it, it will be pathetic. Also the food items not cooked in coconut oil have bad taste. There were only a couple of items which were okaish.

I was there with family for Sunday lunch, we all liked the ambience. Food is awesome specially Anjal fry and mutton curry. Good idea to reserve table beforehand.

This place was quite good. The drinks were AMAZING and the food was superb. The staff were very courteous and knowledgeable with the menu and the service was awesome. My mother loved the turmeric buttermilk and my father loved the rasam. The coconut gulkand payas was so delicious.Recommend to all!
@veg_maatra
Had been bored of having north indian and other cuisine. So wanted to try it out and couldnt get any better day other than my birthday. First of all, the ambience is spectacular, what I really liked about it is the effort they have tried to bring the feel of south India with using copper and brass utensils. The furniture also resonates with the ambience. Being a bangalorean all my life, I didnt have the chance to visit and experience other parts of Karnataka. This restaurant made it simple by bringing all dishes under one roof. The menu was designed carefully to include the signature dishes from all the parts of the state which is commendable.

Unfortunately we didnt have the entire dinner there and thereby ordered only two starters, which was "balehoovina aambode" and "mangalore buns". Both were very good and was filled with flavour. Since it was first time to taste something like this, I thoroughly enjoyed the food and was light on digestive system as well. Overall, the incomplete experience has increased my appetite to try and taste other dishes and will fulfill this desire soon

Very authentic karnataka cuisine. The gasagase payasa was freshly made and the flavor left a beautiful sensation on the tongue. Shunti bellada kashaya was also made well.

Had gone for a lunch with a friend last week. The overall experience was great. The staff was very courteous, explained the menu and food very patiently and gave good suggestions. The silent ambience was also wonderful.

Amazing and sumptuous ambience with a decent and sofisticated crowd if I may say. If you are someone who has this impression that South Indian food only means Idli and Dosa.. you will be amazed by the wide varieties of dishes and desserts they have got. This place is a bit on the expensive side but definitely worth a try.

It was by chance that we went to this restaurant... N man.. I was blown away. The menu blew me away once again with all the traditional dishes of Karnataka. The papad and array of chutneys were awesome. Each recipes are crafted so well to retain the tradition yet suit the restaurant grade. The eleneeru payasa was to die for. It was an awesome experience. The staff was friendly quick and knew their stuff.

No non veg and also since I am a food blogger I can tell you they have no idea how Karnataka's cuisine is like
It's not even good
Only the beverages were fine but
Everything else was bad
Wasn't even made properly
Sneha Prasad Salgame
While I loved the decor, the food was really bad. None of them had an authentic taste, found hair in 2 of the dishes that I ordered and the server was not friendly at all. Very disappointed that the travel so far was not worth it at all

Visited this place on a Friday night. We actually went to windmills and because of their bad service we decided to head to oota!
The place looks so glamorous. Very well set up, extremely nice staff, well trained, service is a bit on the slower side but I guess that is because they make everything fresh.

We ordered chicken sukka, kozhi curry, neer dosa, akki roti and jowar roti. The chicken sukka was brilliant, very nicely spiced and the right amout of citrusy notes. Even the kozhi curry was good. The rotis and the neer dosas were exceptional! I somehow felt that the texture of the chicken was a little off. Maybe because it was in cold storage for a while and it wasn't fresh. That's my only complain here.

Even the papads they served were note worthy, my favourite was the onion papad. All the chutneys were yummy!

Is the food worth the price? I don't think so.
Is the experience worth the price? Maybe!

What a place !!! The ambiance is soothing and very welcoming. Food is exceptional and no matter what you order, it is bound to pleasantly surprise you (unless you compare with your grandmother's dishes ;-)). We have been there for dinner, lunch, and breakfast (Sat. & Sun. only). Thatee idli is our favorite. We also recommend Khara boti, Chicken ghee roast, Mangalore buns, Kalathappam, Neer dosa, veg stew, Sabbakki vada, Kaima unde etc. Not to mention their unique chutneys and spicy powders. I'll stick my neck out and say that you possibly can't go wrong with any dish. A must visit place.

From the time of making booking to walking in is handled well. A soothing ambience welcomes you . Service was good and attentive. The fooddddd is amazingggg. They do give you a heads up of like 20 -30 mins time for dishes (chill out with their full bar and conversation till they arrive :-) ) Guests are encouraged to eat without cutlery .

Oota is a classy plae to have south Indian cuisine and the place doesn't disappoint. Had a range of dishes starting from majjige to fish fry which were all very good. Overall a place which is definitely recommended.

There are plenty of treasures hidden in our mother’s kitchen which seldom make it to restaurants. So when someone said Oota serves Konkan cuisine, I was excited to see what familiar dish could they have jazzed up to serve in a fine dining restaurant.

I went vegetarian for a change, for it was Sankranthi. Besides my measure to gauge the authenticity of a restaurant is with vegetarian food. It’s tough to nail vegetarian food in Konkan cuisine. You can always whip up a coconut gravy with fish and chicken to call it Konkan.

I ordered the mangalore buns, which is a perfect balance of sweet and savoury, fluffed up to look like a puri and must hold until it’s served. Most importantly it must not soak any oil. Oota had this made to perfection! The chef would’ve made my grandma proud! 😂 The sol Khadi and tambli were equally good!

It was Sankranthi and Pongal was ordered. The Chennai-raised girl that I am, i have certain expectations from my Pongal, and the only restaurant that has come the closest to it in Bangalore happens to be Oota.

Dali tove happened for mains. This is hands down- THE MOST IMPORTANT DISH- for any Konkani brahmin. Sorry Oota, it didn’t live up. Such a brilliant dish was watered down. Neither did it go well with the neer dosa nor with the rice. You should move it to the soup section instead.

The elaneer payasa was a nice way to end the meal.
Definitely recommend this place for the experience and the variety of Karnataka cuisine it has to offer.
Nayana Parmesh
South Indians will be disappointed..too expensive and less options... mostly coastal area dishes rather than authentic south food..north indians and other people you will find better authentic food in many other places
Aditya Chittipeddi
Really in love with this place
The ambiance makes u sit and the taste of food keeps you ordering
Typical authentic Karnataka food served all over, at one place
Love the servings and the portion size may look small but worth paying for the taste you get
Prranata Aishwarya IAS
This place offers authentic Karnataka cuisine. Had never tasted so much variety of local food.
We went here as a team dinner and loved all the starters the most. The prawn starter, chicken sukka, mangalore chikka sukka were very tasty. Other food items as well as drinks were good.
The best thing about this place was each and every item had unique taste, no two items taste were overlapping.
Ambience: The ambience is classy and enjoyable. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. However the beauty of the place is apparent in indoor seating.
