Review Koshy's Bar & Restaurant - Bengaluru

Ayan Roy
Loved the vibe and the old charm of the place. Tried Cheese and tomato on toast, their famous fish biryani, chicken liver on Toast, Caramel custard and fruit cake. The cheese and tomato on toast is the show stealer, please try that if you are visiting. Also the fish biryani deserves a mention.

Koshy’s, St. Marks Road If you are looking for a perfect authentic breakfast of old times with classic vintage vibes then don’t ever miss this iconic place. It’s so calming, soothing absolutely simple, classy & British ambiance!! The menu is also simple with only top dishes. I love each & everything here & I have had a lot of times!! But my personal favourite is their veg cutlet & in house bread toast paired with soft eggs!! Appam & stew, hot chocolate ☕️ are a vibe. A table at the window, a good book, my favourite breakfast at this place is all I want for a great day!! Whenever I get bored of this modern city life with bling & glamour this is my go to place! It’s there since more than 50-60 yrs who continue to keep up the same charm & taste. Love the old black & white pictures of Namma Bengaluru. If my mom accompanies me here sometimes she has lot of stories to tell seeing those pictures. It’s a great place to explore if u really want to experience true Namma Bengaluru vibes before it turned into a tech city!!

Right on the main road on Lavelle Road. It’s one of Bangalore’s oldest and rarest cafe which also sells beer a very rare combination. Just be careful of timings as k. Google it shows open from 11. But from 11-3 both non ac and ac options are open. But from 3-7 the ac section and lunch items are closed. Overall food is very nice but service sucks . The waiters are pretty old and hence they don’t care much so don’t expect a very good service. Price is also very reasonable overall a place you should try

It is an old classic in the heart of Bangalore. With a 90s vibe and music that that's you back. There is a separate space for the breakfast crowd and the lunch and dinner dining crowd. The food was good, and the presentation could have been better. We tried the chicken steak and pork ribs with clear chicken soup. Taste was lovely! Must visit for a classic experience and folks interested in an old-school vibe.

Good place for breakfast to dinner. We had baked fish and mutton korma, awesome test. Must try it and also try fish and chips.
Venkatesha Prasanna
An old world colonial cafe, extremely popular eatery in Bangalore since many decades. Quite an iconic place. They have many signature dishes which are quite popular. Many options available for vegetarians as well. We had mushroom on toast, baked beans on toast, veg cutlet and their famous cold coffee.

Nostalgia for me!! Used to go a lot in the early nineties and now I could manage to go after decades !! Awesome ambience , service was good as there was no one in the AC section. Food is good!

Visited this legendary restaurant to grab lunch. Unfortunately reached there late and did not get the Lunch Menu. However, got the all day menu and it was delicious. Tried the chicken sandwich, mutton cutlet and fresh lime soda and they were excellent. This is a mandatory place to visit especially for breakfast.

One of the best vintage cafe to have some real authentic British delicacies and along with that one can have amazing Indian cuisine as well.

Oh, Koshy's! Opened in 1952, this place is older than most family recipes. The bulbs and the people, well, they're like timeless relics. They only change when they Die! This joint is where the past and future have a tiff while you enjoy the show. Forget the food and drinks; it's the characters that steal the spotlight. But if you must munch, try the fruit cake, it's legendary. Pot Coffee? That's a caffeine trip! Kerala Pork Fry, Ham sandwiches, Mutton Cutlets, and the roast pork – they're your taste bud's best pals here. If you have a friend who is too happy in life, take them here for a few hours after dark, the lighting will instantly douse you in a dose of gloom. Or if you prefer a brighter mood go in the afyernoon , snag a seat at 'Table by the Window.' By the way, that's the spot where Raghav Shreyas worked his camera magic for a photo book. So, do you dare to step into this time warp? Koshy's awaits!

If you're looking for a great place to dine in and an ambience that feels like its built to hold intellectual conversations, look no further than Koshy's.<br/><br/>It faces the danger of being overhyped, but that doesn't take away from the great food quality.

This place just oozes old world charm. It’s like stepping into a colonial era coffee house. The food is great too. Roast chicken with stuffing, Prawn Biryani, English breakfast, Pork ribs, Chocolate mousse- all were top notch. Only the steak in Steak & Onions was tad overcooked, even though I had ordered it medium cooked. Planning to go back for some of their breakfast treats once the situation normalises a bit.

Everything just the way I remember it from years back! Happy feel!

Nostalgia all the way: Koshy's has been in the city for decades and has gathered a loyal following ever since.<br/><br/>One can see venerated Bangaloreans (even celebrities) frequent the place and enjoy the western breakfast offerings. The mutton cutlet, Spanish omelette, fish & chips and roast chicken are must-try dishes here (with a pint of bottled beer, of course). To add, the options for vegetarians are minimal. The service has been the same for a long time, both in terms of personnel and quality. There are two seating options available: non-AC (called Paradise cafe) and AC (called Jewel Box), one is sure to find a spot in either.<br/><br/>Overall, a must visit if you're in Bangalore and crave for the good old days.

Horrible place to visit . The manager is so rude that when you request him to send a waiter at your table , he replies I dont know when he will come .<br/>I had heard so much about this place and totally disappointed .

Koshy's is a legendary place and been here for over 50+ years and popularly known for servicing their sandwiches and and Omelets. I too was excited to try their food for a long time, and this time got the chance! We tried their •Veg Sandwich: This comes with home baked bread with tomato and cucumber sprinkles with salt & pepper! A very basic sandwich, nothing great but tasted just ok! I am being very honest! The only good thing abt this place is the ambience, you definitely feel the old Bangalore vibes! Right from the decor to the guys who serve the food, every staff here has been at service for over 30+ years. So if u want tk time travel back to the good old days, just come to Koshy's!<br/><br/>The other two dishes we tried were there,<br/><br/>•Mutton Cutlet: This was really good, the mutton was minced finely and seasoned well, it had the perfect crunch on the outside, soft from the inside! I really enjoyed this!<br/><br/>•Mushroom Omlet: Generous portion of mushrooms inside the cutlet roll, but it tasted average! And not worth the price for sure.!<br/><br/>Overall this place is a one time visit, overly priced, average food and good old Bangalore vibes!<br/><br/>Taste 3/5<br/>Service 4/5<br/>Ambience 5/5<br/>Quantity 3/5<br/>Quality 5/5

Overrated and overpriced

Definitely a legendary outlet . It has the old world charm of a cafe bar. Any dish on the menu will taste fine. It’s not a gourmet stuff . So don’t expect high dining standards. But a must visit.. parking could be a challenge. We tasted mutton toast and Bombay toast. Both didn’t disappoint us. Will surely visit again.

The waiter was unattentive, to the level of insulting, he'd walk away before we could complete the order, twice within 10 seconds of coming to the table. And literally stood there saying "service charge isn't included, you have to pay me seperately"
Alina Jebby
This is one of my favorites in the city! Truly love the local vibe! The menu is really interesting, if you are looking for steaks, good place to go! From their cafe, im always on the go for their chicken puffs. Amazing simple dishes like mutton omelette, minced meat toast, sandwiches, are quick and easy snack.<br/><br/>A place that hasn't changed much with time, truly nostalgic!
Maidan Singh
Simple outlet excellent food, tried there Mutton burger and it was delicious, features in legendary outlet of Banglore, it's a must visit, restaurant offers great service and price is also reasonable

Had heard a lot about this place and its history. Loved the decor.. took me back to Malgudi Days. Came here on a Friday morning after a walk through Cubbon Park. The service here was super friendly and always ready with suggestions.<br/>Wanted to try the appam n stew but realised its there only on Sunday mornings.<br/>So ordered some Chutney sandwiches.. omg the bread was sooo softtt.. was delicious.<br/>Ordered some Jam Toast.. got a bit hard towards the end cz they use thick bread.. but damn was yum.<br/>And finally.. the Spanish Omelette. This blew me away. I dont usually order this as its too much of veggies. But one of the waiters suggested this and we went with it. The veggies were sauted perfectly with really good seasoning and cheese! It was perfect.<br/>The prawns biriyani was good.. quantity huge, but nothing special. Their meat puffs tastes homely.<br/>The koshy's special coffee was really strong and the orange juice was so so freshh!<br/>Definitely going back for the appam n stew & mutton omelette :D

Absolutely love this place. Been going here since I was a kid, love brining my grandparents here for breakfast every sunday.<br/>My all time favoutrite is their tea poy

Koshy's is one of the quintessential places that is synonymous with Bengaluru. Being a Bengaluru girl, I'd never been there till now.<br/>So finally, one fine day reached there for lunch and asked the waiting staff to get us what they thought was the best on the menu..<br/>He got us Kerala style Prawn Curry, rice and Kerala style Chicken Fry. All of these were delicious and we were left with that warmth that comes with eating familiar homely food.<br/>We had to try their signature meat loaf and although my fiance loved it, I felt it was a little too dry.<br/>For dessert we ordered their Caramel Custard and Coffee. That was a really good combination, perfect for those lazy Bengaluru weather.
Akshit
It's an old-school restro-bar with old english cafe type of ambience. Serves tasty english breakfast and north indian dishes. A cool place to hangout with people of any age group.
Dibya Jyoti Das
Visited for lunch on a Sunday. The much talked about sandwiches, just had a decent bread, while the chicken and mutton stuffing seemed boiled without any semblance of flavoring. Being a mutton lover, I couldn't even finish the mutton sandwich. It just felt too raw and bland for the Indian palatte.<br/><br/>The fish cutlet had no flavors and was almost inedible. The chicken sandwich was similar, bland in taste, but atleast edible.<br/><br/>The Chinese noodle soup was bad as well.<br/><br/>The only saving grace was the chicken tandoori , that was well cooked and the chicken fried rice, that was well made.<br/><br/>The serving staff had the audacity to ask for a 10% tip, even after tipping a 100 bucks. He was not willing to listen that we did not like the food and hence would not like to tip any more. Found this behavior very pushy, rude and reeked of arrogance.<br/><br/>An utterly over hyped restaurant. Stay away if you can. If you'd like to for once experience the old world restaurant charm, may be just stick to the omlettes and toast for breakfast.
Ranjana
The cutlet just melts in your mouth. We had veg cutlet, and veg cheese sandwich. The Koshy's special is coffee is much better than any other coffee shops. Vincent Paul from their staff is very polite and always has a smile on his face.

I went here for breakfast and absolutely loved it. <br/><br/>What I liked: <br/>> Food: Ham sandwiches, bacon omelet, mutton cutlet (only 1 for the price, remember) <br/>> Coffee: Koshy's special coffee. But it tasted like regular coffee. <br/>> Very chill ambiance, like the old restaurants. I know from the reviews this one has been around for a long time. <br/><br/>Definitely recommend

An iconic place in Bangalore which makes you feel nostalgic. You see all age groups of people here. Located in the streets of st Mark's road. <br/><br/>It has typical old school ambience. You need to wait for the table during weekends. Service was prompt. Menu is typical continental. <br/><br/>We ordered mutton cutlet, bacon and eggs, tandoori chicken. Mutton was too delicious. Deep fried crispy bacon was amazing. Tandoori chicken was good. <br/><br/>Price is on the higher side for the quantity which is served. But taste and quality of the food is appreciated.

Finally visited this iconic place and had great expectations but it was a huge disappointment.<br/>Ambience is decent.<br/>The appam with mutton stew was hands down a great dish, but everything else was a disappointment.<br/>There were no real flavours or spices and the food was pretty bland.<br/>Had the club sandwich that this place is very well known for and it had no flavour. Also tried the cheese omlette which was mediocre, nothing special about it. The bacon and sausage tasted just how they would at any other place. The chocolate milkshake tasted like a cooled health drink, honestly felt like a huge waste of money.

This iconic establishment has stood test of time. Minimal furniture and no frills, it has a huge loyal following. We went early morning for breakfast and ordered Spanish omelette and coffee. Both were served fast and potions were just right for single person. They also have a bar cum restaurant which opens in the afternoon. The old world charm is still intact here.

Dear Foodies ! <br/><br/>My first review in Bangalore- as I recently shifted to this "cool" city. <br/>Well to start with, the reason I chose to write about this restaurant is because my first impression of this place reminds me of my fav place back home. On my first visit, I was not that hungry so I ordered for the Chicken Patties and Koshy's special coffee. The patties was YUM ! I have had so many types of savoury puff pastries but then this place serves the type that reminds you of your childhood- specially if you are a 90s kid like me . It is just the right amount in terms of size AND filling. The pastry is flaky yet not greasy which i know is a very hard thing to achieve. The filling is a very homely preparation of chicken in Indian spices. It might be a little bit spicy but the Koshy's special coffee will help you with that. On my second visit to this place I purposely went a bit hungry so that i could explore more. Also, just incase you know I have only been here for about 15 days and I went there TWICE . The second time I ordered a cream of chicken sandwich, fries to go with that. The sandwich was also very nice- a bit mild so I had to reorder my fav chicken patties . The interesting thing here is that they make their own breads which is why the sandwiches taste so nice and soft. The filling is based out of white sauce but not the Italian type. Overall, for food - I absolutely recommend this place and a must try for everyone !

Went in a group of 5 for some Kerala cuisine, seeing as Koshy is a Malayali name. It was an absolutely terrific disappointment. Quite a few menu items were not available so we ended up ordering chicken, beef & pork fry and fried rice dishes. The meat fry were all disappointing. The meat was served boiled with barely any hint of masala or flavour. The fried rice items were ok for the most part but nothing great. All in all, I would recommend to avoid this place unless you stick to eggs and ham and other dishes that are hard to destroy.

A slow paced, retro restaurant known for the English breakfast. You get an experience of old Bangalore at this classic restaurant. Know for Spanish Omlette, Bread Toast and Appam (Sunday’s only), a great place for a Sunday morning brunch.
Anna Mathew
One of the oldest restaurants in the city, so can visit the place for its legendary status. Food is just okay.!

Koshy's is a Bangalore institution, but a highly overrated one. We ordered chili paneer and malai kofta along with some rotis and naans, and all the food was decidedly average. Most home delivery outlets could beat the quality of our dishes. The server was brusque and created a very awkward situation at the end by pressing hard for a big tip despite our dissatisfaction with the food and service. For a bill of 840 rupees, he wanted to charge us ₹1000. When I refused and instead mentioned that we would leave the leftover change from our cash payment, he got far more impolite. When he realised that we were not paying him a large amount (because the food and the service was unsatisfactory), he collected the bill, left our plates and tissues on the table and went off in an angry huff. I have no intention of taking away valuable additional income from servers, but in restaurants such as koshy's which are revered institutions, incidents like this leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I would not recommend this place at all- explicitly attempting to bully customers into leavingg tips while serving overrated and utterly unexceptional food is hardly a selling point.

Dad tells me Gran used to bring them all here for breakfast when they were kids. The place still has a comfortable old school vibe, and the prices are reasonable given the location. <br/><br/>Service is friendly and efficient. But the food quality can probably use an upgrade. <br/><br/>If you're gonna charge Rs 100 for a couple of eggs, why not serve some good-quality cage-free eggs? It's just a difference of Rs 10 or so per egg. Add the difference to the price if necessary.<br/><br/>You can barely tell the yolks from the whites with the mass-produced eggs served right now. <br/><br/>Those eggs are probably full of steroids and antibiotics too, since that's the only way those commercial caged hens can survive.
Vinay Avasthi
This is a well-known place for having a conversation over a coffee. Good eating choices overall. Variety for vegetarians is little limited. It is one of those slow-paced restaurants where you want to go for conversation and relax.

Umpteenth visit? Nothing much has changed though - same old uncle serving food and helping you with your cutlery, the same awesome bacon strips.<br/>Tried something for the first time - hot cocoa, turned out to be Hershey's powder mixed with hot milk (tastes so),and badly made - was a disappointment.<br/>Recommendations: eat any of their breakfast items, and definitely not to miss the bread toast!
Dipen Tanwani
A classic legendary outlet in Bengaluru reminds you of coffee house.. With uniformed waiters and classic build.. It takes you back in time.. The legend about amazing soft bread of there sandwithes stand true. Try any sandwich and their coffee..<br/><br/>

One classic hotel still serving in style ambience will take you back as you step in, with the perfect staff in the white uniform, warm & helpful to suggest and serve you quick.

We just popped in a here for a light snack.<br/>Had vegetable and chicken sandwiches were filled with butter and quite tasty.<br/>Coffee was also good. Very fast service and such a good vibe.

Finally visited The legendary koshys for a brunch and went crazy mad for the service over there, this place still follows the old authentic restaurant style in both service and ambience wise, koshys is a iconic place in Banglore And people love it.
Arya Kumar Mohanty
Heavenly English breakfast,I found everything here is like antique. Starting from menu to food, ambience and the employees all will be like they maintained very well from multiple decade. I feel items are little over priced but surely a must visit place if you are around MG road.
Ria Pramanik
Used to love going to this place during college days. But was really disappointed this time around. Ordered beef steak with mashed potato and veggies, got a big fly in the plate tucked underneath the steak. Lost my appetite immediately. The steak was bland and overcooked, mashed potato was lumpy and they gave a side of boiled veggies which were pointless. The place has lost its charm sadly.
Disha Jaison
The AC section offers a fine dine experience. The curry and rice, pork roast, all well done.<br/>The non-AC section is like a cafe. The bread is soft and moist, sandwiches are well buttered, good ham.
Sakshi Sood
Finally went to the legendary Koshy's for a quick evening snack. The place is definitely old school and has an old cafe feel. It's been around since a long time. Had a club sandwich and coffee. The food was simple and fresh, though the portion size was only enough for one. It's decently priced and has quick service too.
Karthik Bhat
Nice and cozy place located in St Mark's road. Had Tomato omelette with bread butter toast. The omlette tasted amazing. Ordered chicken sandwiches which were okayish. The tea was well prepared and served without sugar.
Remz
Have tried their lunch and also breakfast. Lunch was just average, but their breakfast was far far better. But again, I felt it wasn't worth the hype! Prices are on the higher side.
Natraj Srinivas
We went to try koshy as it was suppose to be famous.. Landed here at 2:30 and the waiters were all in a hurry as they need to close for break.
Smruthi Narayan
Classy place. Old school type.<br/>Tried egg sandwich, ham sandwich, bombay toast, coffee and chai.<br/><br/>Bread was so soft melts in the mouth. U get the butter taste along with the egg or ham.<br/>Bombay toast reminds me of the grandmother style and taste.<br/><br/>Pretty expensive. Over all rating 3.
Vegetariano_SinS
Classy ambience. Professional staff, they definitely made me to remember my old school teachers. Systematic atmosphere.<br/>Best spot to grab some snacks or a meal to refresh the tiring shopping day.<br/><br/>I tried their,<br/>Chutney sandwich <br/>Vegetable cutlet<br/>Cold coffee<br/>Pine apple juice<br/><br/>The food is so yum. Bread of the sandwich is soft that it would melt in the mouth. Loved thier vegetable cutlet. Worth to visit again.<br/><br/>Pro tip:<br/>Do try their chutney sandwich. It’s yum
GulpingNomads
Perfect place for breakfast, we had spanish omelette, fried eggs, cutlets, baked beans on toast, fruits in vanilla ice cream! Spanish omelette is a must have, and veggie cutlet was a great combo with that! Baked beans were not that great, they were orange in color with lot of sauce in it. This place is very old and was started in 1940 , and you will have a feeling that You stepped back in time once you enter the restaurant.<br/><br/>Caution- its always overcrowded 😀
Raghav Raj Batra
Koshys used to be my favourite place to hang out till i moved out of Bangalore.Visited last week & was completely taken aback by the level of service n quality of food.Prices are exorbitant and not worth the quantity or taste.Extremely poor service.
Preeti Iyer
Traumatic...just visited on 9 th June 2019. Im HURT...to revisit this restaurant in which I had many memories. <br/>Its painful! food is not worth, the money, taste and quantity anymore. Waiters shamelessly blocking the guests’ way till they get a tip is simply pitiful.<br/>You cant extract your complete margins from the few number of people that come here. Eventually you will lose them too. Who charges 650 INR for a 1 dimensional bland fish dish. To add to the agony with no sauces and awful boiled veggies. <br/>The management must put an end to this establishment rather than watch it suffer like this.
Natalie Stephanos
If you are in Bangalore and craving good old cafe style breakfast, you should head here. If you feel you were born in the wrong era like I do most of time - this is the place for you. The ambience is made rustic and authentic by no air-conditioners, not so fancy cutlery, high ceilings and old fashioned sofas. <br/><br/>I was sure to try their well known Mutton Mince Toast and it was absolutely delightful and really filling. Do also try the Koshy’s Special Coffee. You will not be disappointed. I look forward to visiting this place soon again.
Kanchika
I went from murugeshpalya to koshys since it is a among the zomatos collection of legendary outlet .<br/>There is nothing great about the place very average food and service was very bad. Food came after 30 min and was even cold.<br/>The best thing i liked was the coffee PERIOD<br/>Had ordered mushroom omlette , omlette chips, butter, toast and bombay toast(french toast) and tomato cheese toast<br/>Place is overhyped and food is on the expensive side 230 bucks for a mushroom omlette that too without any bread .<br/>Best thing was only the coffee
Apoorva .
Loveee this place! With its yummy bacon and eggs, burgers and more. The eggnog sort of drink was soooo good! I had it cold and want to have it once more!
Juzer Furniturewala
Really disappointed! Wanted to order cream chicken sandwich but I was told that it'll take time and hence ordered the chicken sandwich that was totally tasteless. They just served boiled chicken with bread. Highly overrated!<br/>The food can't live up to the legacy of the restaurant. Wouldn't recommend anyone.
Mayur Pandey
I happened to visit this restaurant by chance. We were shopping just next to it. Checked it on zomato and came to know that this is one of the legendary restaurants of Bangalore.<br/><br/>The look and feel of this place gives you vibes of 60s with high ceilings and old style sofas. There is a lot of hustle bustle inside.<br/><br/>We ordered a sandwich and a toast along with tea and a cold coffee. The food was so delicious and the drinks were very refreshing.<br/><br/>The service was top notch. Add to it .. the owner himself came to us and served us with a dish high would never find outside this restaurant. Full marks for the hospitality.

Any true Bangalorean knows the cult status that Breakfast at Koshy's has, and despite having lived in Bangalore for 12 years, I had never tried it. So I got out this morning to tick the one thing off my list that was stopping me from being labelled a true blood Bangalorean.<br/><br/>I reached Koshy's at about 10am, and millennial me was greeted by decor that made me think of Indian cinema from the '60s. Was this a sign that the place sticks to it's roots; or was caught in the past and lost touch with the times? If you're confused, there's a subtle but important difference between the two.<br/><br/>I sat down and was greeted by a very polite waiter. I ordered a Spanish Omelette and some Hot Cocoa. I turn the menu over and see that they have served Jawaharlal Nehru and the Queen of England - impressive, right?<br/><br/>Not quite, the food was okay - I don't know if I walked in expecting too much. It was alright but nothing to write home about. I really can't elaborate much, it just felt mediocre.<br/><br/>Now I'm not saying this place is bad in any way. I was just disappointed given everything I had heard of the place. In terms of food flavour and quality and even pricing, the place is at par with most reputed cafés in the area. A lot of things on the menu aren't available at other cafés. But then again, these other cafés have their decor and atmosphere to show off. Koshy's has this unique atmosphere which is great, but I feel needs a little polishing - and no, I don't mean renovation. The decor is part of Koshy's identity, it's a part of the very soul of the place and I think that's best left untouched. But I think improving lighting and providing air conditioning are two major steps toward making the whole experience more enjoyable. Yes, I'm aware there's a separate area with air conditioning and a more modern atmosphere, but I feel my suggestions help improve everyone's experience and aren't too drastic to implement - they're pretty much bare necessities in any standard restaurant. I feel that Koshy's legacy gives it an edge over anyplace else, but a few tweaks are needed to stop it from losing its image.

Very old and popular cafe of Bangalore. Has one of the most basic doughnuts which is the best. Their breads are also very good. Great for a breakfast in a quiet corner. They have been trying to catch up with the times but their food is the same. Coffee and sandwiches are good. Staff is friendly and warm. Haven’t tried the other cuisines they offer now.
ROCKER
Today afternoon walked into this legendary outlet which has been on my wish list for a long time. My assessment of the place is not very encouraging though, the outer seating area has an old world look, but bit stuffy and hot, the furniture and crockery are poorly maintained. Service takes a long time, the waiters seemed to be languishing along at leisure. The wash room is dirty and stinking to say the least. Now coming to food, not much to write home about, we ordered crumb chicken, which turned out to be dry and chewy. The chicken korma was a paste form of coconut, the egg fried rice was ok though. Maybe a two time visit to see if the next time turns out to pleasant. They have an AC enclosure too, will try that the next time.

Koshy's has a cult following I have been told. I had to see if it is worth it. So I visited for breakfast. It opens at 9 AM . We reached 15 minutes earlier assuming they might start a bit early, but they don't. We were not the only ones who had reached earlier. The seating space is large. It has old school wooden furniture which immediately transfers you to old times. The staff is also courteous and very friendly. They guide you on things to try and are very convincing. <br/><br/>We tried plum cake, bacon omlette, mushroom toast, potato cutlet, Bombay toast (which is french toast renamed) with mango juice, watermelon juice and coffee. Everything we tasted was brilliantly done. They serve a thick milk bread, which is delicious too. The plum cake was outrageous.<br/><br/>The service is really quick and you can be in and out of the restaurant in a jiffy. It is not a low priced place by any measure. In fact it is comparable with any cafe in Bengaluru. But the overall experience is just too wonderful for such things to matter.<br/><br/>The parking is on the lane next to the restaurant. It is at the end of the church street so easy to reach. highly recommended.
Mannat
Legendary it is - classic finger food and vintage style of serving coffee! Though not having AC facility is a bit of a let down in summer days, it still is a must-do cafe if you are in Bangalore for a while!
Anuj Jain
Vintage is not an option, it’s a priority. <br/>The old school theme, quick service and delicious food will definitely make your day. <br/>Do try “veg club sandwich” with “cold coffee”

What do you get when you plan to eat your Sunday brunch at a old charm restaurant? You get Koshy's!<br/><br/>Located in a peaceful neighborhood of St. Marks Road, this place is often thriving with people from all around Bangalore. You have to wait to get to your table but the wait isn't much. We waited for some 10 mins before we were escorted to our table. My choice was pretty clear. I wanted to try English Breakfast (₹550) in this old English neighborhood of the city. My friend ordered Omelette, Chips and Bread & Butter (₹205) along with Veg. Cutlet(₹90) English Breakfast is also known as Super Breakfast and they have aptly named it looking at what all we get. One gets a fried sausage, some salad, baked beans spread on bread, sunnyside eggs and french fries. Nothing out of the world. Just plain, simple, realistic, expected flavors. Omelette and chips (french fries) was also similar. A simple two egg Omelette served with fries on side. Veg Cutlet was deep fried cutlet made of mashed potatoes and some veggies. Every dish was served with some raw Cut veggies like tomato, cucumber and onions on the side.

<br/>We visited on Easter Noon, first of all liked the aesthetic look of the Restaurant.. When it came to service though slow was ok... We ordered Fish n Chips the fish was awesome.. n pork chilly was delicious must try once again.. only draw back was we ordered rice with mutton curry which was not up to the mark..overall it was good . Lastly prices are bit high but at the same time if the quality matches with with price. .. u won't feel the pinch .

Such a horrible restaurant. I am stupefied by the fact that Zomato calls it legendary. Overhyped place and terrible food. The washrooms are in par with a public restroom. I have been sick after eating their food. They don’t even deserve a star.

Finally we made it to the legendary breakfast of Kosy's.<br/>Took me back to the India Coffee House of yesteryear.<br/>We were three, ordered Spanish omelette, mutton omelette, and ham sandwich with orange juice, and end it with coffee. And finally we could not resist the caramel custard. All delicious in their own way.<br/>Didn't have lunch that day :)<br/>Worth a visit, specially the b&w photos on the wall take you back in time.<br/><br/>Will visit again for third South Indian combos:)

<br/>I understand its an old place and people's emotions are attached to it ! <br/><br/>Food : Average and over priced making it non competitive<br/>Ambiance : poorly ventilated place to have any meal ! confined place with one exhaust. 4 seater 29 tables in the service room <br/>Service : super slow , they make you feel they don't need you , you need them ! <br/><br/>Overall highly overrated place because of location and years in business ! <br/><br/>

I had been wanting to go to this place for a long time now. Perhaps, I'll never go back unless forced to. Found the prices to be extraordinarily high for food that I can best describe as below average. For a moment, I thought I am being pranked when I saw one cucumber slice and one tomato slice being served as side salad with my Spanish omelette and mushroom toast respectively. I expected the waiter to say 'gotcha' as I hesitantly took a bite of the cucumber, but to my disappointment, nothing of that sort happened. The creamy coffee that we ordered did come on time but felt more like creamy water. The piece of fruit cake that we ordered was very tiny! All in all, despite paying quite a lot of money, our experience turned out to be quite disappointing!

Old place which has sort of become a landmark in Bangalore. Decent ambience. Food is about okay, expected better. Bombay toast and mushroom toast were good. The pork fry was average at best. Prices are nominal.

I went to Koshy on Sunday evening and I was really disappointed. First of all , they have two sections - AC and non AC. I was in AC section with bar attached. There are 2 things I need address before coming to food. The first thing is that the place is old in design and I am not sure whether they had any time removed the clothes from tables or from sofa for cleaning since both was stinking to some extent. I was afraid to lift them up , thinking I might find strange creatures underneath it. The room was not fresh and lively rather it was like sitting in your grandfather closet which was abandoned 30 years ago  and you happen to visit  it for some strange reason.  The initial stench , that's what I am talking about whether it is sofa or table. Second item I need to address is that I noticed all the waiters were really old and they did not have any enthusiasm to greet or to serve the customer. Their attitude , I must confess was really cold.  They behaved as though they were pushed by someone to work as though they were working in gulags camps. They took pride and made every effort not to serve any customer. They barely speak english. I asked the waiter to connect my mobile to charger since I have redmi , it uses Type A - mirco USB (common charger for most mobiles). He told that they don't have any charger with them and if I am having charger , they can plug it in. I was quite taken back since this is normal charger. But this is a minor issue. The food part was the really worst part of the deal and the highlight of the evening. To be honest, it was really bad.  I ordered three items and 1 juice - club sandwich, fries and mutton Rogan josh, orange juice. Sandwich was like real witch -really really bad. One layer of club sandwich , first time I have seen one-layer club sandwich (usually it is either 2 or three layers) ( with price tag of 250) where the bread was really big & thick as a brick and I could hit a person with it , dipped in egg I suppose and this makes it like french toast - ultimately bad (worst bread I ever ate) . On top of that they gave meat with egg and I can assure you that both meat and egg was not fresh; I believe - they were taken out of cold storage(after keeping it there for 6 months).  The french fries was cold and very small fries in size and quantity (price tag 110) served on very small plate (dessert plate).  After that horror show, the waiter comes to me for tip even without asking how was the food. Trust me he did a good thing. Otherwise I would have smacked the plate on his face for real and walked out of that place.  I went home to have rogan josh ( price tag 500) , hoping that it would be better since it is Indian food. The curry was really bad and it offsetted the parota I brought to have with this. The only good item is orange juice, which was fresh and good. I believe I really wasted total of 1000 rs for nothing. I also believe from my experience that all the people who commented positive in the blog might be drunkards since it would be difficult to differentiate the taste after few drinks. I am a non-alcoholic and I believe that it really prevented me from experiencing the ecstatic taste that mentioned in the below blogs. I wouldn't recommend any non-alcoholic to go that restaurant and in case you are alcoholic, please make sure you drink a lot before you taste the food.

Looks like a nice, rustic place but the food isn’t anything to write home about. The portion size is quite healthy, so if you are bonkers hungry and only care for volume, this isn’t a bad place. Another thing. Sorry vegetarians, this isn’t a place for you. <br/>

WHAT THEHEEBEE SAYS ABOUT KOSHYS<br/><br/>Koshys has been a favorite since I came to Bangalore in 2007. Like the erstwhile Indian Coffee House on M G Road, Koshys reminds us of Bangalore's rich culinary heritage. I have been a regular visitor to Koshys and my favorite time to visit Koshys is for a weekend or holiday brunch. <br/><br/>Koshys is located on the very popular Anil Kumble Circle off M G Road and it is easy to spot it due to the old charming name boards which still adores the place. It is very easy to locate and there might be hardly anyone who would not know its location. There is no parking available near Koshys, hence one needs to park on M G Road, Museum Road or Church Street. Best is to come by public transport and avoid driving on this busy stretch. <br/><br/>Koshys started in the pre-independence era and is currently managed by the 3rd generation of the family. Yet the management has taken care to preserve its interiors as close to the old times as possible. It has very simple wooden interiors but definitely very charming and different than modern interiors. There are two seating sections - Airconditioned and non-air conditioned. The air-conditioned seating is more like a family dining area. The non-airconditioned area is more like a tavern and it becomes noisy during rush hours.<br/><br/>I always visit Koshys taking some extra time. My favorite is to have a few beers along with some simple food and spend time reading a book or writing something. When I visit Koshys, I usually aim to draft 2-3 blog posts while having chilled beer. Among the food, my favorites are Bun Maska, Grilled Fish in Brown Sauce, Prawn Bhajji and Omelette. Sometimes I end up with a cup of delicious coffee.<br/><br/>You can expect variations in service at Koshys. I usually go here taking enough time as I love spending time here. So to me, slow service doesn't matter. The staff is very well versed with the food dishes, etiquettes and are very helpful.<br/><br/>Signing Off<br/><br/>Hiral Amodia<br/><br/>(TheHeeBee)
