Review Harima - Bengaluru

Gopinath J.P
My recent quest for trying out Japanese food in bangalore has lead me to this place, had read about this cool restaurant a while ago, the authentic Japanese crowd the dishes and the ambience. All of it did match the description. We were at the restaurant right at 12pm when they open. Ordered a special of the day bento lunch plate and a special ramen along with tuna sushi. The lunch plate was nothing special, there were vegetables and sticky rice nothing really surprising. The ramen was quite tasty the broth being cloudy and flavorful. But the meat and vegetables were not so. I take away a star for the presentation. The sushi was l just meh.

Went there with a couple of friends on a Saturday to try out Japanese cuisine as Harima is one of the highest rated Japanese restaurants in Bengaluru. Its a bit hard to find the place, as it sits on the 4th floor of the building and the name board is for some reason away from the entrance area so it was a bit adventurous to find the actual placešŸ˜‚ The ambience is quite nice, the staff greet you in Japanese when you enter which was really unexpected, and kinda set the scene that they are serious about the Japanese experience. We seated at the Japanese-themed seating area, they have about 4 tables and it was quite similar to what we get to see on Videos of Japanese restaurants so extra marks for that. Coming to the food, it could've been better. We tried all the Ramen dishes as we went as a team of 4. We had a vegetarian one, a Pork Chashu Ramen and two Chicken ones. And I felt that the Ramen broth could have had a little more depth to it. It was a bit shallow for me and tried the other Ramen broth from friends, I felt it could have had a bit more depth and umami maybe that's just our batch. For startes we had pork belly which was really good. We also had the matcha-flavored cheesecake and Japanese styled pancakes (Okinomiyaki, I believe) for dessert, but I have nothing too interesting to remember... They have Asahi beer and Sake, we tried the Sake it was good but a bit heavy on the pocket. Overall worth a try if you are obsessed with Japanese but for general people who don't have much knowledge about the cuisine like me, it might not impress you that much.

This was my first time trying Japanese food. I would say it was a good experience. I really enjoyed "Ebi no Tempura" (Deep fried prawns), Tori no Teriyaki (Grill chicken with Teriyaki sauce) and Sushi. I was very excited for Ramen(Shoyu Ramen) but unfortunately it wasn't that great. Finally we tried the dessert, Dorayaki, which is pan cake stuffed with red bean sause served with green tea ice cream. The pancake was good, but didn't really enjoy the green tea ice cream. Overall it is a good place with good food.

I personally liked the food very much... Apart from being a bit expensive.... Service was too good.... An authentic Japanese food.... My personal favorite was tori no karaage and dashimaki tamago

Nice place with a good spread of items in their menu. Food was good, ambiance is decent but service could be better. Some of the items were little overpriced. Somehow I did not get that authentic Japanese taste in some of the items we had and I am saying this because I love Japanese food.

Five of us had a wonderful time at Harima! This was my second time coming here and this experience was much better than my first visit. We ordered a lot of food (starred our favourites): 1. Tuna Sashimi 2. Chicken Karage 3. Terikayi Shitake* 4. Takoyaki Octopus* 5. Chicken Gyoza 6. Pork Chaasu Ramen 7. Chicken Donburri 8. Green Tea Icecream** 9. Shaved Ice** The dessert especially was such a great end to the meal, and perfect for summertime heat. The vegetarian options here aren't as great, but the non-veg has been pretty wonderful.

The restaurant is ina very busy street. They don't even have a parking facility. You have to look for public/roadside parking as there are no malls nearby. The entrance will not look like a restaurant though it is marked with the name of it, so don't be surprised. It is spacious and you will find Japanese style of sitting on the floor available here with sliding doors to enclosed rooms. Other than that no great decor or ambience. The items served are authentic Japanese hence you will find a lot of Japanese diners here. The food is very good and it is very expensive as it happens with Japanese food in India. The servers are well behaved. They have a fixed 10% service charge on the bill amount.

If you're looking for authentic Japanese food then this is your place. We had salmon sashimi and the fish was very fresh just as it should be. šŸ˜Š

According to me tone of the best place to done in for Japanese food. The floor seating room gives just the right feels šŸ˜. The service is definitely good and the staff is so polite. One of the must try places in banglore. It was peaceful inside.

Unpretentious Japanese restaurant with great service and a lovely selection of Sushi, Sashimi, Nigiri and fried and grilled delicacies and an excellent selection of alcohol. I'm giving them a 4.5 rounded off to 5 only because a couple of the Sushi/Sashimi selection were not available. To their credit, there were a couple of Japanese gentlemen dining here, and they looked happy with their experience. Moreover they looked like regulars, which gave us a good deal of confidence in our choice. I noticed they have a private room for larger parties, and a traditional seating area with floor seating and low traditional dining tables, if you're into the authentic experience. We asked them to give us 2x 6 piece Sushi platters instead of the 12 piece ones they list on the menu, just so we could experience more variety and they happily obliged. They're expensive, but not outrageously so. The decor feels a little dated and is very subtle and Un-"fine dine" but I found that quite refreshing, actually. Some ambient music might help drown the sometimes noisy traffic from downstairs, and louder patrons. Paid parking on the opposite side of the road is convenient but crossing the 4 lanes of traffic is an adventure sport by itself. All in all, a very good dinner experience.

Great place to have Japanese food in Bangalore. I have been here a couple of times and was impressed with the dishes served both the times. The place has a nice ambience, and the menu spread is very authentic as well. The service is fast, very professionally done. The staff maintain appropriate hygiene levels and safety standards

It was good for a new experience. I've never had Japanese food in such a good setting. They're interiors are really cafe like. The ramen was nice even if it was chicken broth. I liked the sushi. The wasabi adds a lot of flavour to it. The green tea ice cream was the best part. It was not too sweet and neither bitter which shows the quality of tea it has.

Good ambience, authentic Japanese food and courteous staff. Restaurant is at prime location, easy to reach and find cabs. Finding a parking could be tricky though they have few slots available. I called restaurant for reservation, which was quick and easy and again to find parking - and they helped me with that too. Different sitting options available including open space. Tried sushi, Ramen, tempura. Quantity and quality both were good and pricing is reasonable. All in all, it was a good experience! Tip: Japanese food is more of an acquired taste, go with an open mind. There are some good vegetarian options as well, check the menu online if you are not sure. Good to go with group of friends, so you can share and try multiple dishes and explore their exhaustive menu.

We had been here in Feb, weather was perfect for an outdoor dining. The sushi was good, rice tea was excellent, we loved everything here. Service was wonderful.
Mohith G R
A really good place to get some sushi and ramen. They have a good variety of beverages too.
Neel Nandi
Loved everything about the place. The ambience was subtle Japanese style. The food was of high quality and fresh. The wait time between the dishes was quite less. Definitely deserves the best Japanese restaurant of Bangalore rating.

17 Years. That's how old this outlet is and still the infrastructure compares (and indeed beats) so many other Japanese and Asian places in the city. This is situated in one of the older buildings, the lift is shady, the entrance of the building is shady, but once your enter the restaurant everything changes. So many seating options. So diverse food options. And such a good service. This place is a must visit for Asian food lovers.

Harima is a cute lil space with dainty interiors and the staff greeting you in Japanese when you enter adds to the experience! Couldnā€™t try a lot of dishes - but their sushi, sashimi and nigiri were great. Salmon is yum and their pork belly starters were delicious too.. wanted to try other Japanese authentic dishes - but thatā€™s for another time!
Sowmya
Loved everything. Very delicious Japanese cuisine.

Love this place šŸ’• the most authentic Japanese experience in town from the chopsticks, food and even the seating arrangements!
It's definitely a must visit if you're a Japanese food and sushi lover

Harima is authentic Japanese restaurant with flags on the entrance and a room with Chabudai table(Japanese styled floor dining). The restaurant also has a normal sitting arrangement for people who prefer that. Me and Chandan are both vegetarians and donā€™t even eat eggs. For our surprise Harima had a good variety of vegetarian options to choose from which was Delicious...

The restaurant is located in the heart of Bangalore on Residency Road. Which could be a problem in heavy traffic days as you would not get parking and there is no valet parking too.
We took a drive to Harima after the lockdown period and we were a bit concerned about dining in so we had decided to take away if we dint feel comfortable. However we were welcomed with staff wearing face shield, sanitiser stand and temperature check which filled in a bit of confidence in us to dine in. Additionally there were just one other group of customers. Luckily the restaurant does not close at 4 as most of other restaurants in Bangalore do and we calmly looked around and chose to sit on the Chabudai table distancing ourselves from one other group.
We ordered a bento box and Veg California Sushi plate and two beverages which came by quickly . The bento box had 4 starters and one portion of garlic rice and one portion of veg soup. Sadly it was not miso soup. The portion size for two was good and we were pretty full. We did want to taste their desserts but their veg options were not available due to corona but it sounded good (pan cake filled red bean paste and ice cream). So this will be for the next time we visit.
Thank you and lots of love from
Geetha and Chandan.
Follow us for more vegetarian food adventures.

Had been here for a birthday lunch. This is one of the best Japanese restaurants in town, from the decor to the authentic and excellent food. They have a wide variety of options and to choose from and the super helpful staff help you to choose the items if you aren't that familiar with cuisine. The lunch special was absolutely delicious and had a good quantity. Mushrooms were delectable. The selections of sushi was amazing and they tasted excellent. They provide a beautiful complimentary tea. The staff is extremely polite and helpful. They had arranged a dessert for the birthday which was a beautiful gesture. Overall a had an amazing time and will definitely visit again

The 5-star rating itself is a dead giveaway, but what a treat to the soul Harima was!

Their ambience, seating and overall style is nothing short of beautiful, and it really pulls the Japanese theme to full central. I personally loved the Chabudai tables that allow you to sit on the floor and eat.

Their Shittake No Teriyaki is beyond compare, and one of the most divine dishes I've ever tried. Also to be complimented is all their varieties of sushi, the chicken soup and the main course. In full summation, Harima was a delight!

I didn't find the place as expensive as the general rates go for high-end Japanese cuisine, and I am sure to drop in again.

Bad value for money. Bad food quality. In japanese cuisine I expect good quality ingredients. Sashimi had dozen fish with ice crystals, not kidding. They don't have a sake menu and the only sake they have is sad. Price wise it is comparable to Singapore or Hong Kong ramen or low end sushi restaurants. But quality wise horrible. I am not going back.

Place is good, food is good and everyone were friendly with good service. But there is always room for improvements. The quantity of food compared to price was too much, missing many varieties. There are other Japanese restaurants which are far better with good food, variety and less pricey.
Abhilasha
Simply love this place. I am vegetarian and they have the best vegetarian Japanese cuisine.

I liked everything ambience taste everything was good! Anyone who wants to try Japanese cuisine this is the place.@ Pradeep took special care of us.

The miso pork ribs from this place are surely the menu item you can't miss! Deliciously tender and succulent with a salty, sweet, umami, fatty sauce enveloping it. The rainbow roll with tuna, salmon, squid and avocado was also really nice although a bit stingy on the fish. The portion size of their plates are quite good. And the sake is a house specialty that I'm glad we went for. It made the meal so much better.
Ending the meal with the fluffy dorayaki and matcha ice cream was the cherry on top.
Akshat Ganju
The ambience is just too good!!!. I literally fell in love with the sushies. The ramen and udon we ordered we just speechless. Full of flavours and just an explosion in ones mouth. The dorayaki dessert was sooo soft and the bean sauce was just perfectly made. An amazing place to experience authentic japanese food!.

Harima has been on a togo list ever since i started preparing one for BLR. Predominantly i have prepared one only for the Japanese restaurants around. Every time I wanted to go , something or the other kept pushing it out. They dont have a valet and family is growing tired of my Japanese obsession ... However , exceptions were made yesterday. We had been walking up and down BVK Iyengar road for 3 hours and as a treat to self for doing the unthinkable , landed at Harima at a rather later hour ... It was a boon it doesn't shut down after 3.30pm which is a norm with restaurants these days .

I was more less sure of what I wanted to order so quickly got down to it
Shitake mushroom teriyaki, nigri moriawase, agedashi tofu,California roll , yakisoba, tamago and daifukumochi.
With the stomachs growling , the warmth of the shitake mushroom and the teriyaki glazed onions was atleast a joy for me. The nigri moriawase was decent . The teriyaki in the agedashi tofu could have been a ponzu , which gives it a nice flavour since tofu is bland . The yakisoba was a tad bit oily for my liking . The tamago was insanely amazing . Warm pillows of fluffy eggs going down the throat was such a joy. The mochi was mochi. Mochi icecream would be a nice departure from the traditional stuff.

I enquired and found out Harima is 15 years old, Luru had access to such food in 2004 blew my mind . There was nothing wrong in the food, i was just happy to be at a place I wanted to be in for a long time . It was specially rewarding since 3 hour shopping sprees are never my thing.

Still have to visit Matsuri,Edo,Kaze and then start over..

Highly disappointed. Came to this place with really high expectations cause of the reviews. Really slow service, got wrong items to us twice, had to wait really long to even get the waiters attention. The sushi here was average at best.

Really good food and feel authentic.

At first I was planning to tell just the feedback to the owner and let it go hoping they can improve. But some of the cashier cut the conversation and ask me to published it online so here we are.

This restaurant has sunk very low since last time I visit, the service was very slow, no friendliness nor smile for the waiter and even one of the waiter are very impolite for genuine feedback.

The sushi and wasabi are too unfresh.

Would recommend to go to another Japanese restaurant. Harima has sunk very low now and I am deeply dissapointed by this as regular customer

Ok so my girl and I are in literal tears, we were the last one to be done last night and the Japanese head chef and a lady in her Kimono (šŸ‘˜) thanked us for visiting and walked us for visiting and walked us to the lift helping and bowed down. Like yous this really touched us. šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜ā™„ļø And this respect and love also shows in their service and food

Coming to the food, as someone earlier said Harima is truly a hidden gem.

For starters we got TOFU TERIYAKI with 4 chunks of premium tofu stirred i teriyaki sauce and this was onspot.

I am a Vegeterian so i got my self a SARA UDON (blant taste with strong umami flavours from shitake mushroom) and my girl got PORK OKONOMIYAKI (really good and heavy).
The bill came around with Rs.1900 inclusive of 4 glasses of soft drinks.

Very quite, simple and neat place... Expect good quality food, quick service and great taste, the quality of meat, fish and combinations are. Exactly what you need. Enjoy...

I really like this restraunt , it as a great seating , and helpful staff .
I did not like the portion size and the prices
Yet there was a menu with a great variety of vegan options.

Harima is a quiet place tucked away in a labyrinth of a building on Residency Road. The ambiance is average but the food is great. We ordered the nigri sushi platter between two people and found it quite filling. Tofu sushi was something that I would pass but everything else on the plate was amazing. We had just about enough space for ramen and ordered the seafood ramen, which was also good. Surprisingly no sake was available when we went. My tequila sunrise was nice, however we did not like the margarita as much. Harima is not pocket friendly. The staff could be trained better to explain the menu. I had a good experience and would strongly recommend this place as a must visit for authentic Asian cuisine.
The Gluttonous Foodie
Japanese cuisine popular for its healthiness and being one of my top favorite cuisines are reasons enough to make me visit this restaurant. Lovely homely atmosphere, simple yet refined. Service was good. Coming to food, edamame and the daikon salad proved to be great appetizers. Then we had yasai korokke , tori no karaage, onigiri and dashimaki tamago. Tori no karaage was too good both in terms of taste and quantity. Was disappointed with onigiri though. After that went for takoyaki and tori no teppanyaki. Takoyaki was also good with all the mayonnaise & Worcestershire sauce but expected a lot more of octopus in it. Tori no teppanyaki was nice with all those caramelized onions and the sauce. Among desserts ordered dorayaki and daifuku. The one which stole the show was dorayaki, so soft in consistency with the red bean paste sandwiched in between. Overally satisfied my craving for Jap food. Would definitely recommend it.

If you are a sucker for sushi then this is your place. Tuna and salmon sashimis are to die for. If not then do try the beef with rice. Do try the green tea ice cream if you are into it.Taste is as authentic as it can be. Service is great and they do a great job.

Went there for lunch a while back. Tried quite a variety of Sushi and Beef Tongue. Loved the food! Probably a little too hard on the pocket, but a must try!

The best Japanese restaurant in Bangalore... Taken lesser time for the dishes arrival and the presentation of the dish was much attractive. The quality of the ingredients was good and feel the flavor in each of the dishes.. Highly recommend!

Heard about this place from a couple of friends so had to visit. Even before you enter inside, you already feel like you're in japan. The staff were really professional.

Food: 10/10
Ambience: 10/10
Service: 10/10
Cost: 8/10 slightly on the expensive side, but worth every penny

How do I put the quality of food into words for this place???
Won't be able to articulate the kind of feeling I have eveytime I put a bite of food being served here.
Out of the world.!!!
If you're going during the lunch time, bento box is the thing you need to look for...!!!
What a class should serving they have.!!!
The taste of every item on the menu would make you go ummmmmm....!!!
Flavors, presentation, preparation everything is so so so much treat to the eyes.
I had ordered Chicken Ramen, Salmon Maki Roll, Salmon Rice Roll and it just took me into another world.
Food being served here would make you want to visit this place everyday.
Food - 5/5
Ambience - 3/5
Staff 3.5/5

The sushi and nigiri is absolutely amazing. It surely is one of the best Japanese places I've come across. I had the California roll (in picture), Spicy Salmon roll, Salmon nigiri and Tempura Nabeyaki Udon (soup noodles, in picture) and it was all absolutely amazing! ā¤ļø A little pricy, but definitely worth it.

Only one thing to say: Go visit and experience

It's slightly pricey than other places that offer the same cuisine. But worth every penny and much to my experience, UNBEATABLE šŸ™‚

My friend and I had lunch at Harima on June 22, 2019.

Getting There
Without a sign on the outside of building housing it, the restaurant was difficult to find.
But, the experience more than made up for minor inconvenience.

Ambience & Staff
One enters the restaurant through sliding wooden doors, into a minimal, well lit, serene ambience. For those who wish to go all out, there is a room det with with low tables and mats for guests to enjoy meals, seated on floors. The staff is polite, accessible and attends to you with a smile.

Food Choices
While the menu was filled with a variety of options in seafood and chicken, there were (naturally) few vegetarian dishes available to choose from. Other meats included beef and pork available as entree selections in the Lunch Box category.

A Review of the Dishes
We placed our order for the following dishes
ā€¢ Veg California Sushi Roll
ā€¢ Non-Veg Lunch Box and
ā€¢ Green Tea Ice Cream

The Veg California Sushi Roll (Rs. 440) had carrots, Avocado, Shitake Mushrooms, cucumbers and mayo wrapped inside out in seaweed and rice. The flavours of the components together with wasabi and soy were strong and loud in the beginning and slowly shifts to the crunch of fresh vegetables and finally to their juicy mushiness, creating an explosion of flavours in oneā€™s mouth.

The green tea ice cream (Rs. 200) was a dish that initially, did not fail to raise some eyebrows. But, the ice cream isnā€™t as outrageous as one may believe. In fact, itā€™s fairly tasty. Largely a derivative of vanilla ice cream, the taste of ice cream evolves in your mouth- from the initial obvious sweet to intriguingly spicy and finally a tad bitter- to be embraced as a part of the unique flavours of green tea itself.

Portion Sizes & Value for Money
The Veg California Sushi Roll came in 12 bite sized pieces that did a fair job at filling one up and the Lunchbox portions were large enough to fill one up completely. The bill amount came to about 1,200 for the three dishes- good value for money.

When in the mood for a peaceful dinner complimented with food full of flavours, pay Harima a visit!

Quintessential Japanese food. We ordered the vegetarian ramen ( surprise, there's a place in Bangalore that makes one) and my table mate ordered a pork ramen. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. This place is specially good if you're a vegetarian looking for Japanese food. We had the matcha cheesecake for dessert and it was on point.

I called this place to make reservations & asked the person who answered the phone about parking. He said there is parking but itā€™s not confirmed if I will be able to park my car. So I asked him should I go ahead & cancel it & he was like yes you should go ahead & cancel your reservation which I did. I had been wanting to visit this place but I guess they just lost a potential regular customer. Did not expect such poor service from Harima even before I could visit them for the first time. My two words of wisdom - 1.) Change your manager or the person who answered the call as he had no clue about parking as I over heard him ask someone else about it 2.)You should be able to provide valet parking for your customers at least on weekends!!!

We were hankering for some good Japanese food & chose Harima because of positive reviews in a Facebook gourmets group, & it didn't disappoint. The first thing that caught our attention was the excellent view of Residency & St Mark's Road commanded by the large open windows. The interiors are simple but elegant, as well. Coming to the food, we had Kari Cream Croquettes, Octopus Takoyaki & Tori Teppanyaki for starters. The crab meat croquettes & the Octopus balls were excellent, I strongly recommend everyone to try. The teppanyaki was okay. For mains we ordered the Beef Donburi & Oyako Donburi. The beef Donburi was very good. I personally didn't like the Oyako Donburi very much, but others liked it. As for the service, there was a wait before the dishes started coming, but once it started they were served in quick succession.

I didn't enjoy the food here. The omu rice was fried rice mixed in ketchup and covered in an omelette. The sushi was okay though not what I expected. The beans with sesame tasted like peanut butter and beans. The tempura and agadashi tofu were okay. I was hugely disappointed with the food. Also the air conditioning wasn't working properly and make things more uncomfortable. The Moscow mule was good though.

Visited Harima after being suggested that this place has arguably the best sushi in town. Was not disappointed. The mini sushi platter was quite amazing. Ingredients felt fresh! The chicken ramen was great. The pork belly appetiser though, felt a bit too tough for my liking. The beef over rice felt too bland for my taste too. Their liquor menu did not have a single Japanese element in it. That was a tad bit disappointing. Over all, the ambience was great. Nice mellow music. Service was excellent!!

Beautiful place with delicious food and amazing service! Definetely worth it. It is very welcoming and all the staff are very sweet. The sushi and Dorayaki were my favourite!

Visited Harima on a rainy evening, the ambience of the restaurant is impressive - calm and just the right amount of decor. We chose to sit in the low tables inside a room with comfortable seating. We ordered the California Maki Rolls and Tantanmen. The best thing thing about the sushi here is 12 pieces of sushi roll (can never have enough sushi!). The sushi was above average, the pickled ginger was a little too sweet for my liking (why was it sweet?) and the wasabi moderately strong. The tantanmen was run of the mill soupy noodles, expected a little more in terms of flavours.
We enjoyed the place for the long conversations that you can have there and their decently priced cocktails. The waiters though could do with a little more knowledge of the alcohol being served. Sake would be a good edition to the menu.
Would definitely visit again for the sushi!
Chelsea JimƩnez
Delicious sushi and they are open all day! Itā€™s hard to find a restaurant that doesnā€™t shut in the middle of the day. We came around 5 pm and ordered sushi, 1 veg, 1 non veg. Both were very good and 12 pieces really fills you up. Also ordered the radish salad with sesame dressing which was crisp and delicious. The restaurant is owned by a Japanese person and apparently is 15 years old. Interiors could use a bit of a revamp and a fresh coat of paint to make it a bit more beautiful inside, but food is good so I guess thatā€™s what matters!

Harima undoubtedly is among the best Japanese food restaurants in Bangalore. I love their ramens & their service is remarkable. I would love to visit Harima again to satiate my ramen and sushi cravings.

Kinda disappointed with the whole experience at Harima. First off, the restaurant is on the 3rd floor of an old building. The Lift doesn't seem to work properly . And when we went inside the restaurant it smeld like fresh paint. The whole place had been freshly painted. The food was just mediocre for the price. Wanted to have the matcha cheese cake but they had run out of match powder.. So no matcha cake.. Definitely not worth the price in my opinion.

Had my lunch from Harima yesterday. The staff are really friendly. I really loved how authentic this place is. They have normal restaurant seating as well as the traditional seating. They even have the geta (traditional foot wear)
The food is excellent. Very authentic. I would definitely love to come back again. :)

So i always wanted to experience Japanese food properly at a restaurant šŸ˜„
I chose harima for the sole purpose that it had more vegetarian options than the other Japanese restaurants In Bangalore. I was impressed with the authenticity of the food, the menu is in Japanese and English, which is a good sign for a Japanese restaurant.

The air conditioning was great, the water was also nice and cold, you can go for the lunch set which costs around 475 rupees (before gst )
You get a veg soup, assorted vegetables, two dishes of your choice, I recommend tofu teriyaki and yasai no tenpura .both are vegetarian options. You even have a lot of non veg options as well.

The ambience is great, it is a nice looking Japanese restaurant. The food is good with room for improvement overall harima is a good foundation Japanese restaurant. I i say that because there are better tasting Japanese restaurants in Bangalore. I highly recommend you check out this place šŸ‘ šŸ‘

Harima the best Japanese food I have had in Bangalore... sushi (mini harima) is out of the world... yose nabi (a mixture of all types of meat with soup) is mind blowing and to end it on a sweet note we had the Daifuku... just fabulous... a must try for people with the love for some Japanese cuisine...

Had dinner at Harima after more than a decade! One of the best places for Japanese cuisine! Especially seafood Sushi and Sashimi lovers like us. Was transported to Japan for few hours! We had mixed sashimi platter of fresh salmon , tuna and grouper (it was as fresh as it could get), delicious miso soup, fantastic prawn tempura sushi ! For mains we had seafood fried rice and grilled chicken both were good, but the cold udan noodle dish with fish broth was not up to expectation ( wasnā€™t cold as it was supposed to be) . Price wise itā€™s a premium place as quality of seafood is really good and taste is really authentic! We stuck to bira for beverage as sake cost was pretty steep 1400 bucks for 150ml!! Overall we paid Rs 6000 for 3 of us! But itā€™s worth the cost and experience!!

The food was delicious as always. We had the Tekka Maki, Miso Soup, Aburi Buta Donburi, kimchi and geso no karaage. For dessert we had the green tea Ice cream - the green tea flavour wasn't as intense as we hoped and the vanilla seemed to overpower it. All in all it was a near perfect meal. We also had the sweetest waiter - Sujan, he was very attentive and helpful throughout

Went for dinner after searching around for good Japanese places in town and decided to visit the place as it nearby our house. The decor of the restaurant resembles the Japanese traditional style of dining on a ground level table, however the seats and cushions provided could have been a bit more comfortable. The food was pretty good actually, some of the dishes better than the other but overall a good meal. We ordered some Tempura Maki, Ebi Nigiri Sushi, a Seafood Teppenyaki, Seafood Okonomiyaki and a Wasabi Tempura prawns. Each of those dishes were quite good except the Ebi sushi as the presentation was made in such a way the rice kept falling apart which itā€™s not supposed to for that kind of a sushi. The seafood teppanyaki was really good and the quality of meats were quite good.

Was a good experience and the food was also pretty good, but some work on the restaurantā€™s parking could work as there are limited spaces for parking and hard to find if itā€™s your first time there. Overall pretty good šŸ‘šŸ½

Hands down my favourite Japanese restaurant in the city. Iā€™ve tried quite a few dishes, all good. However my favourite is their sashimi.

Authentic food. Reasonably priced. Good ambiance.

Must visit for Japanese food lovers. Strongly recommend going for people whoā€™ve not tried this cuisine yet as well.

staff was polite excellent food we had nigiri moriawase, sake maki, salad I forget the name and soba veg everything was good but only the noodle was little bit oily. we will visit this place again.

A couple of us had a stubborn ramen craving that just would not pass. Harima has a long standing reputation as Bangaloreā€™s finest for Japanese cuisine. From the authentic seating arrangement to the ambience to the food, everything was on point. The staff were nice enough to accommodate my request for a soft boiled egg with my ramen. The vegetarian options, though sparing in number, did not disappoint. 10 on 10 would return here.

Went for a weekday lunch. Had Sushi platter and Chicken Ramen. Not a big fan of Sushi in general, so didn't particularly like the platter here either. Ramen Bowl was good and filling.

The ambiance alone would suffice to provide a true experience that one would cherish. But the food quality is not compromised either. Delectable dishes served in authentic style. Must try !

Went with my Japanese friends . They loved the food and visiting again this place. This place was set up initially by a Japanese National and is as one of the authentic Japanese restaurant..... whatever they could manage without tsukiji close by.

Probably the most authentic Japanese restaurant in Bangalore. The decor is typical Japanese / minimalist and all wood. Considering how long it has been around, and retained consistency in its quality and service. Also, I genuinely believe that a restaurantā€™s authenticity is best validated by the people who belong to the country of the original cuisine ā€” so the fact that you see a lot of Japanese nationals eating here is proof that what you get is the real deal.

My husband and i visited Harima some days back. We have tried almost all Japanese restaurants in Bangalore. We enjoyed our time at this place but i guess the food wasnt for our palate. The sushi we ate was okay, but didnt hate it but did not enjoy eating it either. The edamame was okay again, but the crispy noodle and veggies we had was really bland and we wasted almost all of it. The server suggested that we eat that when we asked him we like some spice in our food. Well, overall not a great experience in terms for the food taste for us.

This place is good was for those trying out sushi for the first time. The sushi is not that delicious. They do serve authentic Japanese cuisine but i believe the taste of the food can be improved. The ambiance as well has tremendous scope for improvement. (Food we ordered: harima mini sushi - special request to include salmon-avocado, Gyuniku no Teppanyaki-beef sizzler, pork kimchi fried rice)

While Devatha plaza has seen many restaurants come and go, this place has been a steady fixture for a number of years now...however; my recent experiences here have been somewhat substandard - sushi that didnā€™t taste quite right & served without wasabi or ginger, hair in the noodles, overall poor and slow service and dried up spilled rice stuck in the seats...there is a lot not going right. it still gets its usual share of Japanese (first time) visitors but I doubt any of them are coming back. Saw my next table send their dish back. Need to pull their socks up and owners need to pay attention because the people running the place donā€™t seem to be making a great use of the six inches between their ears!

Great menu with lots of choices. Got the shoyu ramen and Tori no shioyaki (charcoal grilled chicken skewers) which was served with an amazing citrus based sauce. Excellent service courtesy of Sujan and the rest of the team at Harima.

Must say this is the most authentic Japanese restaurant in town! We had California veg sushi which was very well made. We had fried noodles which I would not recommend anyone to eat.

This used to be one of the best Japanese restaurants in Bangalore at one point, itā€™s clearly lost its charm now.
The service is absolutely slow and terrible, the ambience is OK, the starters were good - the Wasabi Ebi Mayo is a must try, the Tori Karaage was good as well. For main course, the Ramen seems more Indianised if I may say so. And the soft drinks served were flat, cannot imagine such poor standards.
Su Hash
I loved the food here. Cost wise they are slightly on the higher side. Tried their sushi, bucket noodles and sort of sticky rice.. exceptional.. Strongly recommended.
Everything was good about the restaurant except the lift was not functioning and I had to climb up all the floor via stair.
Nithya Ramesh
Lovely food.. great service... Best Japanese food in Bangalore in my opinion. This is one Japanese place the vegetarians don't have to worry about their veg food is great too.. and they have the best edmame.. simple and salted just right... No fancy stuff that makes it questionable

This is one of the oldest Japanese restaurants in Bangalore and it still is doing well for good reason!

The ambience is quite rustic with traditional Japanese features. They have put a lot of thought into it and it feels quite authentic.

The food had a lot of options, but we were limited by our choice as we were vegetarians. However, they do have a good amount of food for veggies here.

The cocktails were okay, nothing to hoot about.
If there could be an improvement, I would think it is in their service department. They were very polite and served everything on time. But, since Japanese cuisine is not something that everyone knows about, while ordering, they could give out more suggestions to the customers.
First time trying Japanese food.. It was a pleasant experience for my pallet... all the dishes were amazing.. staff was very friendly.. we tried Tempura Soba (noodle soup with fried prawns), Salmon maki (sushi) and Dashi Maki (rolled omelette), all of these dishes have very subtle flavors. People with low tolerance for exotic food can also try them, as the flavors are not over powering.Ā A very unique flavored tea was served, which i loved and kept me warm throughout the lunch.. will revisit to explore more dishes

Decided to visit this place after my partner praised it to the high heavens. Was thoroughly disappointed. The sushi platter was the only redeeming dish.

I love ramen and I was eagerly waiting for the big bowl of wholesome aromatic Japanese ramen... And it arrived ...minus the aroma and wholesomeness. Well, the ramen broth tasted like gruel. It would have helped if they had served some gari with the ramen... For some serious palate cleansing!

What's surprising and slightly annoying is the fact that restaurants that are this pricey can get away with serving an insipid ramen. If a Japanese restaurant can't get ramen broth right... it's time to introspect or go on Pinterest!
The ambiance was quite nice but food was no good... Yakitori was so hard and Ramen was no taste. Gyoza also no tasty and some spiceā€™s flavor was coming... it was no good. The restaurant was really clean and staffs were good. The only things is, food taste.

It was great experience ...
Food was great service was very good staffs are very friendly and very attentive .. their shusi very good . mushroom teriyaki also very good .. highly recommend for very good Japanese food ...

Good ambience. Was looking forward to seat outdoors but the amazing Bangalore weather didn't allow us since the breeze was very strong. We had the usual fun experience of seating on the floor indoors. If you want authentic Jap food I would not recommend since it's sort of modified food for Indian taste.

A brilliant place for Sushi lovers (like my wife) or if you want to feel the ah so courtesy of the Japanese people. The staff is just incredibly polite that you really need to pay attention on what they are saying!! Must go if you like your Sushi (I really go there just for that!!)

Sushi was good per usual, but much to be said about the attitude of some manager named Pradeep Bohara! Messed up the bill amount, and instead of being apologetic and resolving the issue, kept raising his voice and getting irate as if we were responsible for generating the wrong bill! Very unprofessional and ruined for us what was otherwise a good sushi dinner. Problem is, doesnā€™t look like the owners of Harima even care about what customers have to say about their restaurant.

Best Japanese restaurant in town! N by a mile. The food and service is bang on and have always come away a happy man. Miso shiru soup, the sashimi (both tuna and salmon), prawn tempura and grilled pork are my favourites but I might as well blindly put my finger on anything in the menu and be rest assured, my tummy will be very happy!
Tamara Mathias
Lovely meal and excellent service from Sujan!
Had the mini sushi platter and several set meals - the prawn was lovely. Sitting in the special seating area is always a treat.

It was a beautiful experience in Harima. I do not remember the exact name of the items but one can ask some Grilled Chicken , Fried rice and Prawn. It's healthy, tasty and almost Zero Oil.

Extremely satisfied with this place. They serve some great Japanese food. Tried the Spicy Salmon Roll sushi, cream corquettes, grilled pork belly (forgot the Japanese name for this) and Tantanmen Ramen.
Each and every item was super delicious and fulfilling to the core. Pricing was also spot-on. Totally recommended for people with the taste buds for authentic Japanese cuisine.

About the food: I have been craving for authentic Japanese food for a long time. Then I have found this place. I have tried salmon maki( maki filled with salmon wrapped with seaweed), shoyu ramen and buta no shougayaki(thin sliced and seared pork belly with ginger soya sauce). It was delicious. Some friends of mine who tried authentic japanese food abroad are very fond of this place. If this is what japanese food tastes then definitely I will visit again to taste different item from their cuisine.

About the place: The ambience was quite pleasing and calm. And there is a feel of japan inside. The servicing was good. U can find a mini Japan here.

ITADAKIMASU!!!

We came here for lunch and were left with a big smile on our faces. We tried out their lunch menu which included a bento box in which we could choose our main courses. The pork was so tender it just melted in my mouth and the squids were fried to a perfect crisp! We were excited to try their matcha cheese cake but unfortunately they ran out, so we settled for some dorayaki which was perfectly sweet enough to satisfy us! Definitely coming here again to try their sushi.
Sowmya
Harima easily ranks amongst the best Japanese restaurants in the city for me. The sushi is the best Iā€™ve tried in the city.

Wish theyā€™d serve the sake warm though.
And there definitely needs to be a valet parking option for such an upscale restaurant.
Priya Kolisetty
It was my first time eating Japanese food and the experience was nothing short of amazing! Also considering the 3 out of 4 of us were vegetarians, the variety was pretty good!

Can't really remember the names of all the dishes but they were all delicious especially the veg udon and grilled chicken.

To end the meal we order the famous matcha cheese cake and ball of ice. The cheese cake was heavenly and just melted instantly. However, I would not recommend the ball of ice.

Definitely coming back for a second to try the bento box. We went at an odd hr (5:30) and hence it was unavailable.

Not to forget the struggle of using chopsticks but these small things definitely add to the local experience!!

I had been to Harima resto for many times and itā€™s first Japanese restuerent in Bangalore and they serve Japanese food and hospitality of this hotel is very nice and they serve delicious Japanese food

Firstly, this is a super authentic Japanese place hence donā€™t go with an expectation of an Indianised Asian restaurant.

Ambience - 3.5/5
Food - 4/5
Service - 4.5/5

We ordered a range of sushi plates - salmon, tuna, tempura, California roll. And every single sushi was perfectly done. A very special mention to the ginger on the plate which was different from every single ginger rose I have ever had in a sushi platter. Definitely the highlight and standout of the sushi here.

Then we ordered the chicken and shrimp from the deep fried section and both were very tasty. Loved the chicken especially. The prawn was also very flavorful. The chicken gyoza tasted delicious with the wine sauce it came with but without it, not too tasty.

For maincourse we had the kimchi fried rice, sea food mix rice and grilled chicken. I loved the sea food rice, tasted even better with a little soya. Also had the soft noodles with a bland gravy of mushroom, bamboo shoots, bell peppers. This one was bland but flavorful.

The desserts were not very impressive: ordered the green tea cheesecake (average), pancakes which were very spongy, ice creams which were pretty good.

All in all - go for an authentic Japanese experience and savour fully! However I might prefer a more modern n trendy setting.

Harima offers authentic japanese cuisine and the ambience offers the same as well! The food was tasty and stays true to the japanese way. The miso soup was a bit bland. California Sushi roll was tasty, tofu teriyaki was yummy. Deep fried squid was tangy and crispy! Dessert was tasty as well. The service was great.

The best Japanese Restaurant in Bangalore ....the ambiance is very calm and authentic ...You can feel the Umami flavours in each of the dishes ...we tried sushi rolls ... Prawn tempura ...maguro sushi for starters ...a Large bowl of Ramen for main Course and Mochi filled with sweet bean paste for dessert .

The timing of the arrival of dishes and the presentation of the dishes was subtle yet appealing ...really a meal tingling all senses .

The dishes were little on the expensive side but as the quality of ingredients was good and the ambience was authentic ....it deserves the price ....quiet and sublime authentic Japanese .

This happens to be my most favorite place in Bangalore, though it's quite pricy. Since I am a die hard fan of Japanese food, this place is an absolute delight to be at. The low seating and cushions are also available if you want to truly experience the Japanese traditional culture. The Sushi and Sashimi are undoubtedly the best dishes here.
If you want to experience authentic Japanese food, then this is the place to be.

Both the food and the ambience at the restaurant were very authentic. Among the food that we ordered, prawn tempura and nikuman stood out in terms of taste. The staff were courteous, friendly and extremely cooperative.
Loved the experience and would definitely visit again soon.

I was told to be polite I wonder what I should say after seeing worms in my lovely miso potato salad!! It was alive and kicking. Takes Japanese food to the next level of eating live šŸ˜‚

A cozy place for some authentic Japanese food nestled up on Residency Road. A rainy Bangalore day was perfect for a Japanese meal.
We tried the miso shiru (recommended for all those who like the taste of miso), ebi no tempura (a must have for prawn lovers), gyoza (pan fried chicken dumplings, if you are a fan of the famed momo please do try this out), nigiri sush moriawase ( an assortment of nigiri, if you haven't tried Japanese food before please don't attempt trying this one especially if you aren't a fan of seafood) and shoyu ramen (the ramen was silky and cooked to perfection).

The staff though courteous weren't of much help when it came to assisting us with the menu. If you are trying Japanese cuisine for the first time, Google the dish on the menu to get a more clear idea about it. Try the fried and sauteed dishes before progressing to nigiri and sushi.

A couple of dishes like the fried octopus and crab meat croquette inspite of being their signature dishes were out of stock on a Saturday afternoon in a metropolis like Bangalore.

Best Japanese restaurant in Bangalore. Awesome food. Friendly staffs. Highly recommended. you will get no.1 sushi in Bangalore, and other items like ramen, okonomiyaki etc etc are also good.

To be very frank, most of my Japanese experience is from Kolkata and this is one of the two places I've been to in Bangalore. I really liked the torimomo yakitori and the prawn tempura. What I didn't get to try out last time was the nigiri sushi, and I really would like to try some of that and some sashimi the next time I visit. I've also heard they have a nice bento box for a decent price that is actually filling; that would be a welcome surprise!
Sam Swiftie
I absolutely love this place with all my heart!! This is the most authentic Japanese restaurant I've visited in Bangalore. Everything from the ambience to service to food is absolutely great. The japanese seating arrangement is lovely. All the dishes are cooked amazingly and the ramen is must try as he soup tastes absolutely exquisite. The sushi menu has a great variety and has a lot to choose from, but is a little pricey. Overall I would not hesitate to travel 13km just to visit them again and again.

Cheaper and value for money alternative to Shiro in UB city. Have gone here couple of times for lunch. Their set menu for 499 + taxes is a steal. It's true Japanese experience is what this place delivers. The ambience is great with Japanese style upholstery and there is general peace despite it being on residency road. Food is nicely done with veggies cut in Japanese style and nice mix of flavors. They even serve Japanese tea and give you a wet towel. Worth a visit when you get cravings for Japanese food!

Worst dining experience I've ever had! We order and get two of five dishes within 15 minutes. Then, 40 minutes passed, but not a single waiter so much as looked our way, let alone bring the rest of our order. They were too busy taking orders and actually bringing food to the adjoining table. We ask them about the order, 10 minutes pass and the next dish comes. We wait another 10 minutes and finally, one waiter comes to tell us that we'll have to wait ANOTHER 30 minutes for the remaining dishes. Why? Because the chef apparently never got the complete order and would be preparing them now. So, in the end, we waited an hour for starters, a soup and utter NEGLIGENCE. Of course, we decided to leave and asked for a discount (which the staff gave). I wish I could say some good things, but seeing the treatment we received, I'd NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyone, ever.
