Review Fort Kochi - Bengaluru

I loved the food and main courses quantity can be increased. Prices are good. Service and ambiance is amazing. I like when the music is soothing. We ordered Pomfret fry, Chicken gravy and Malabar Parotas all were tasty and delicious.

This place is for fresh sea food lovers It's not a crowded place Initially I was hesitant since we saw only one table which was occupied but being a sea food lover I gave in We ordered parrotta , appam , chicken curry and karimeen polichathu. The fish was smaller than expected but the masala was traditional and authentic They have sliced fresh fish which we can view and select for our dishes , which looks interesting .. It's a good place if you like Kerala food. Ambience was ok Wash area needs huge improvement

One of the best place for Kerala food. They have amazing seafood options. The prawns roast and chatti chor was top notch and their prawns biriyani was also too good.

We reached around 2pm-ish, and it was packed ! But the staff at the entrance took the name and the count and within 20mins we were seated. Comfortable seating, good ambiance, nothing too fancy. Good service to be honest and friendly staff. Raju Das was our server for the day. A bit late with the service, but definitely understandable considering the crowd and the time. We ordered Appam, Chicken Varutharachathu, Crab Pepper Masala, Chatti Choru, Chicken Biriyani, Chicken Stew, to name a few. The food was really good and yummylicious. And definitely filling ! The end game was to top up the food we had with a hot cup of black tea and boy, it was the perfect wAy to end ! This is the second time we have been to No. 10, the first one being in IndiraNagar. Both are really good. Definitely recommended for a good delicious sea food lunch !

A good Kerala cuisine place with a fair number of items on the menu. We had the fish moli, kizhi Porota and Kerala Porota. The food was good and the service was quick .

Loved the chattichor.. Enormous portion for atleast two people!! Great taste, just reminded me of simple clean homemade food!! Had their netholi molagitathu n koondal fry and just blew my mind.. Chemmeen Puttu was very soft.. Elaneer Payasam was sooo refreshing! A hands down winner with the service too! Must visit will recommend to family and friends!! Humble suggetion to please consider opening a branch in electronic city phase 1.

Appam and mutton stew was one of the best you can get in bengaluru…. Please dont go to koshys and waste your money because there you get paper thin appam and highly diluted mutton stew,in which 3 peices of mutton and lots of potatos 🤣 Their porotta was crispy and flaky just the way house malayalees make it, along with that we ordered egg roast which was full of masala and spice, which made a perfect pair Their chatti choru and chicken biriyani was average, not up to the mark. Hope fort 10 kochi sees this review, there are places still to improve, make us malayalees proud with your dishes

I can't say enough about this place. It was everything I wanted, hoped and expected it to be. A true authentic seafood delicacy joint The food really took you on a journey, giving you an insight into Authentic kerala seafood and produce. The Fish curry meals and mango fish chatti curry were sublime in and of themselves. It was all done effortlessly and without any pretense. I feel very lucky to have been able to had this experience and know the fact that all ingredients sourced from coastal villages of kerala.

A good Kerala cuisine place with a fair number of items on the menu. They have quite an interesting menu, something that your mind and heart will tell you to order everything that's there. This is situated inside a hotel I believe, the seating is very limited. We had reserved a table before coming so it was hassle free for us when we arrived. The staff are courteous and cooperative. The prices are moderate and you get what you are paying for. You can park either in front of the building or wherever you can find a spot on St Marks road. The food does not take a lot of time to reach your table. We ordered Chatty choru, Veg Sadhya, Prawns Biryani, Koonthal Porichathu, Nadan Chemeen tawa fry. We had an amazing time here. The food portion is good, you won't over eat. Definitely coming here to try out the other items in the menu. I would like to give the: Food - 4/5 Service - 3/5 Ambience - 3/5

I was at this restaurant since it had recently been recognized as a restaurant that served the best Kerala cuisine in the casual dining category for the year 2016 by the recent Times Food Guide. Food was good but the service was awful. Looked like the restaurant was under staffed. The door to the wash area and the washrooms inside faces the kitchen. Despite booking for seats and having a confirmation, they made us wait for a table. Expensive for a casual dining restaurant. Over all 3.0/5 and that, mainly because of the food.
Yauvana Devasthali
Food was good but service was very slow. Will recommend to all but if you r looking for quick service then this is not the place.
Sanuj Suseelan
Awesome place to eat .. !! The best Kochi dishes in town. Especially the Achayan Beef... Wow !

Lovely Ambience. Food was classy. Loved the Appams with Mutton in coconut milk gravy. Kerala food with a difference!

An experience which you will cherish for long if you are looking for relishing authentic Keralite cuisines!

My go to place whenever I crave for some good authentic kerala food.
I have tried a lot of items from their menu.
What I liked - Malabar Prawns Curry, Chicken malabari, kozhi porichathu, mooru curry, beef
What could have been better: appams
What did not meet my expectations:
Karimeen pollichathu and ghee roast. Both of them were ordered in by me. The fish was not really fresh and the ghee roast was a little too ghee-ey for my taste.
However, since most of the dishes were good, would recommend this place to anyone who would wish to try out some authentic malayali food.
Harshad Krishna
Overall good experience
Sagar Yarnalkar
We had the Spicy Deep fried prawn and Fish Tikka for starters. Both were perfect. In main course, we had a Prawn gravy and Appams.
Vidya Rungta
The food lived to our expectations. We tried Nathali fry, seer fish curry through their seafood festival, appam, puttu with kadale curry, cocktail was OK however food was excellent and presented well on the plate. Tapacioca starter was awesome... Staff was very courteous and very good in recommending the dishes..

Fort Kochi Connection has been one of our favourite hang out when it comes to Kerala food. The beef, pork and other non-veg curries along with appam is commendable. Love the atmosphere as well. Staffs are very courteous. The suggestion would be to improve the mock tail menu. Also, the place is a bit costly for daily dine outs.
Akshita Poojari
The sea food here is too good...very fresh, and well prepared south Indian recipes made to perfection. The coconut dessert was very soothing too, a must try for seafood lovers.

Fort Kochi was entered upon a whim on Diwali day.
The family has decided to go to the gurudwara and the wife and I wanted to eat food.
Fort Kochi was inviting and we entered.
Unfortunately as it was a holiday and what not. The place was really crowded for lunch.
We managed to get seated in about 10-15 min
We started of with the butter milk fresh lime water , both of which were very refreshing.
Ordered a few Apams with Kadla curry and a chicken starter ( which happened to be a special for the day )
The forgot a few of our apams but they did come finally and the wait staff seemed to be pretty apologetic about it.
Great food all in all.
We will def visit again

Food not at all upto the mark. Service is good, but sadly taste wasn’t. Nice ambience . Won’t be coming here again

Situated in the food hall of 1,MG Road Mall, Fort Kochi a great place for a wholesome dinner.
We had the Pot Roasted Pork, Chicken Butter Masala and Tandoori Roti. The Pork was the best of the lot, serving red meat lovers with a perfect starter dish.
The staff is very smart and prompt.
The ambience perfect for a nice, quite dinner with friends/family.
For a person who is allergic to seafood, this is not exactly the perfect place for dinner but I'd still like to visit the place again some time later. Pretty great place at pretty affordable prices.
Deepika Mallyk
The raw mango curry with coconut gravy (alleppey meen curry) was absolutely delicious. It's made with tumeric and coconut. Enough for two people. The prawns grilled in red wine, garlic and mustard (Garlic grilled bay prawns) are very healthy and tasty too. The place was bit expensive.
Foodie_by_hobby
Well i still feel this place is a bit hyped. The mess near my house serves better local food. They have colonial, Kottayam and different other styles of menu.
They serve Budweiser pint and KF as their beer offerings.
The fish fingers are only colonial so you wont get the local taste.i was expecting netholli or killimeen, but the one who takes the order didn't know what they were.
Don't order the kabul chana starter.kappa was good and the karimeen pollichadu was ok.The Jackfruit kulfi didn't impress me.even the people who serve and take orders werent malayali's. I mean not one.
Fort kochi is better than ente keralam.
Food_fever07
Really enjoyed our dining experience at Fort Kochi. All the starters were amazing. For main course we tried fish biryani n mutton curry, which were great. The coconut based dessert is good.service and ambiance were perfect.
Philip John
Very good Kochi cuisine. Especially the beef and pork dishes. The staff are very nice too. And great ambience. The biryani is quite good too. A highly recommended place for lovers of authentic kerala cuisine.
Swarup Sridhar
Horrible service! The whole restaurant had just 2 stewards and had to wait for 30 mins even for our drinks. Food is excellent, but if service sucks, then you dont enjoy the food either.
Pamela Mitra
This is a must visit if you want to have some amazing Kerela Cuisine. The deep fried beef cube was delicious, must try. On the other hand cocktails were not great. We ordered 2 different cocktails but they tasted the same. Prices are on the higher side.
Jino John
Visited this place for lunch on saturday. A small place with decent ambiance. Ordered beef roast, chicken varutharacha curry, ghee rice and chicken biriyani. They took 40 minutes to deliver the food. Beef roast was amazing, biriyani was average ghee rice and chicken curry was decent. Pricing is pretty high.
Anjali
I'm shocked at the way the restaurant has called me at 1:30pm to inform me that my booking at 2 is cancelled because of an issue in their kitchen. On a Sunday their restaurant is facing issues!!Really disappointed.
Iswar Sharma
I have been there in the last weekend with my family. It was an awesome experience, especially the seafood dishes was mouthwatering.. good service and very courteous staff.
Swati Sah
Amazing food and service. Inspite of a lot of crowd, the restaurant was able to accommodate us and served us food without taking much time.
Coming to food, we had Chicken Malabari, Peanut Chicken, Kerala boiled rice, parotta and appam. Everything was delicious but peanut chicken was the best.
Had a lovely meal and really appreciate the service.
@Joy .....
Visited last night with colleagues..

Come to ambiance.. Like it ..nice decent ambience ,feeling fully home decor.. With nice soft music 🎶.

About food ,nothing to say, it's just awesome.

Tried orange blossom, green cooler n mojito..
Bit confused about on food, taken manager help,
Mostly we visit for seafood, was tried Malabar prawns curry, fried seer fish, squid rings,

Courteous staff and diligent ,ready to help always..

Must visit sea food lover, definitely recommended place.

Overall a really good experience

Ambience -5/5
Service -5/5
Food -5/5

Ll visit very soon

Karthik Muthuswamy
The place is not authentic Kerala food. Also, the ingredients used are sub par. We ordered Lamb curry and Pattani masala both of which used poor quality ingredients and tasted anything but Malayali
Anish TG
Good food and nice staff. Enjoyed the dinner thoroughly. We ordered fish green peppers and biriyani which were really good. Mutton pepper curry was also nice
Arjun Mane
Taste is decent but the staff doesn't attend you unless you call them. Overall not a bad experience. The menu is good and not that expensive as well.. there is definitely room for improvement
Suma S
Food was decent but not exact Kerala style . Costly but taste wise it’s not that good . It’s took long time for service . Ambience is not that great small space .
Anson Dsilva
The ambience is simple and nice, service and food is really good. The beef and prawn starters we tried was too good. For the main course we ordered raw mango prawn curry and chicken curry with appam which was really good. It's a little expensive, but the quantity and taste is worth it.
Deepa
Very poor service. Had to remind them about every single dish. So much was the delay. They were under staffed I guess. Definitely wasn’t a fine dine experience. Have tasted a lot better Kerala food in other bangalore restaurants. Please improve the quality of food and service.
Anjum Fathima
If you are craving for kerala style food and some great fresh seafood, then this is one of the best restaurant in town! The way they serve the dishes, I meant to say the utensils they use, it’s so classy! The old school fashion. The service is commendable. Totally loved their food.
Rohit Malhotra
The food is awesome(order anything and you won’t regret), but the service has not been upto the mark.Off late the service has become a real concern. This may dissuade an avid fan from returning
Anthony T
Probably one of the few fine dine Kerala restaurants in Bangalore...
Visited for Lunch on a weekend and was moderately crowded.
The service and cleanliness was good but the food lacked authenticity.
Ordered a Prawn and Karimeen starter, followed by two types of fish curries for main course. The fish was fresh but I feel the chef needs to work on the recipe. The feeling was of a non Keralite preparing the food.

Cleanliness 4/5 ( hand towels need to be changed )
Staff 5/5
Food 2.5/5
Value for Money 3.5/5
Dijin Dan
One of the few places in Bangalore serving up authentic Kerala food.. they have the best parota and beef out there. It’s so moist and tender and cooked to perfection. Must visit for beef lovers.

We ended up having lunch on Friday at Fort Kochi, MG road. We ordered the Veg Thali and the Fresh Lime soda.

The Thali included Sambar, rasam, stew, veg poriyal, avial etc with appam, fat rice and papad. The dessert was a palada payasam. The food was decent and authentic.

What I found strange was the fact that I was billed for ordering another appam. It was not communicated that it was a fixed thali and it was my bad too for not asking. But this really surprised me.

In terms of the service, I felt that they were a bit understaffed and all over the place. I had to keep looking back and asking for someone, when ever I needed something and waiting for them to come. But when they were around, they were polite and approachable.
Harish Nair
We arrived at the restaurant at 2:30 pm it took them almost 20 minutes to take the order & from there on to receive my drinks to concluding lunch it took for ever. The Kerala Paratha was really dry & not flaky. I returned it to the kitchen & requested for a replacement, unfortunately the replacement was no different. We left the restaurant at about 5pm. Bad service. Bad food.
Saran Suresh
The food is very sub standard. The service is slow and frustrating. We had starters and a couple of drinks and left the place. I would skip honestly. There are better places that serves Kerala food at far more reasonable price and much greater taste and has better service. Disappointing.

Food: 4/5
Drinks :5/5
Ambiance: 5/5
Cleanliness & Hygiene: 4/5
Service: 3/5
Value for Money: 3/5

Been here on a weekend. Place has great ambiance, staff is courteous. Must try their mocktails which were refreshing and tasteful. Also, chicken biryani was great, coastal style. The only issue we faced was that the staff looked like they were in a hurry. They wanted us to eat fast and kept coming back after every 5mins to ask if we need anything more. Once the bill arrived they couldnt resist to come and collect the money as soon as possible as if we were runnjbg away somewhere. This is the first time i have experienced such behaviour from staff. Everything went well until their hurry behaviour.
Mary Gabriela
A Keralites run to place to soothe the sea food cravings! Being from fort kochi this place pulled me in to find delicacies exactly like in fort kochi! Pot fish curry and boiled rice is a must try!
Pooja Verma
The place serves kerela style food minus the coconut oil so can be enjoyed by non vegetarians of all kind. The place is nice not very attractive but the menu is good. A lot of options for seafoodd. We had pepper chicken and prawns .Both were cooked well and had super authentic taste ..maasaalleedaarr. a good place for prawns fish scallops and many more
Debanita Chatterjee
This place serves special dishes from different cuisines of Kerala . Ambience is good and a good place to visit with family. We ordered Fish fingers and Prawn Butter Pepper Garlic . For main course we ordered fish Curry with Raw Mango. It was extremely tasty . You will get good Seafood here .Although the dessert was not upto the expectation, but starters and main course were
tasty .
Shilpi Biswas
I would recommend this place for sea food lovers. We had butter garlic prawn, crab, sea food soup with Kerala parota. It was awesome. Very calm place with a nice ambience. Good hospitality.
Yudhajit Bhattacharjee
High end Malayali eatery.. nice , calm and soothing ambience. With a posh feel. We had fish fingers , prawns in starters . Both of them were good. Prawns are especially cooked really well. Nice infusion of spices ...

Then in main course we had coconut and mango fish curry with steamed rice ... It was beautiful.. fish was slightly smelly but overall went well with rice.
In dessert we had transparent tender coconut pudding .. disappointed with it .

Overall a nice experience ..
Sourya Guhathakurta
Absolutely magnificent sea food. Go for the delightful pomfrets and the prawns. There are chefs choice and the “fish of the day” preparations which I strongly recommend.
Avan S
This place serves amazing Kerala food if one is craving for. Fort Kochi is a fine dining restaurant inside 1MG mall which specialises in Kerala and sea food mainly. The Resturtant is not very big and the interiors are simple and elegant. The menu doesn't have too many varieties to offer but what ever food we ordered tasted amazing. The service is quick and the staff friendly. The butter garlic prawns are a must try with the Kerala parotta.
Bhagyashree Maharana
Loved the food, was apprehensive about trying Kerala cuisine but this place changed my mind and how! Totally recommend for first timers venturing into new cuisine.
Yash
TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED

I visited here with my frds the food is ok but the service is very disappointed no one pouring water I order 3 beer and the guy serve only 2 and he forgeted 1 after 10 min he serve one beer then at the time of food I order some starter and mains so that guy get food and dump on the table no one serve the food and it is totally cool it is not fine dining restro it is like a dhaba.
And one of the worst thing in the name of fine dining
the cuttellry was to dirty and one maneger is there I called him for giving order for food so he jst saw me nd ignoring me and he is busy in mobile phone I never ever visit again
My frds told me why u r selecting the fine dining DHABA
Partha Pritam
Taste of food is really good but we were disappointed with the country chicken roast. They offer regular broiler chicken only not country chicken. The manager also admitted the same but did nothing to compensate us. Expected better.
Jinu Joseph
We tried the pork varratiyathe with appam, mutton biryani with chilled beer. Food was super delicious! Service was fast, very friendly staff. Although the servers are not from Kerala their recommendations were thumbs up👍. This reflects the efforts of training the staff. Will come back again when in Bangalore.
Utsav Walia
it is a decent restaurant. we were in a rush so we asked for quick service which was provided..we ordered two chicken dishes one was not good...which we highlighted and was removed from our bill without us saying anything...other fish was tasty with Kerala paratha and lime soda. the staff was good... ambience was good and food was nice.
Sajesh J
Overall it scores lower than other top malayalee restaurants in Bangalore like Ente Keralam or Salt Mango Tree. We were in for a weekday dinner, there was limited crowd. Still the service was way too slow. We tried garlic prawns, appam, veg stew and kappa. Veg stew was a real disappointment while other dishes were average. Nothing much to felt authentic to true Kerala taste.
Ramesh Ramaswamy
My favourite restaurant. Calm and quiet place.

I prefer to go with my family for lunch, mostly no one drinks at that time, good ambient, kids like their tasty food and deserts..

For dinner, I prefer to go with friends, good place for long discussion...

good service, they give good alternate choice and explain you patiently... they don’t take order as it is, they try to explain will it enough for you, you have kids they may not like this.

Don’t forgot to order for dessert.. Warning!!!! Have some space, or ask order less.. dessert quantity is more..

Food: 4
Ambience: 3.5
Service:4

Fort Kochi.. a Indian name amongst mostly all international brands in 1MG mall Food area.. was not sure, but thought let's give it a try. To our surprise, the service was warm. The captain who took orders knew.the menu well and gave good suggestions.. we ordered Butter Garlic prawns and Malabari chilli chicken.. it was a perfect combo.. prawns were fresh and yummy..Chilli chicken added the spice.. Kerala Parotha and Kerala style Chicken Curry. All this had made us happy that the food is value for money
.now we ordered the deserts and that was the best surprise..Tender Coconut with ice-cream..it was a really awesome way to end our dinner! Superb place to go with family.. slightly on the expensive side..but lot better than most of the elite restaurants around..

A must try to experience the unique flavour of Kochi and Malabari Cuisine.. something different..!!
Saroj Kumar Mishra
We went to this place with very high expectation, as some months back we had some good food here. But it was a horrible experience. We ordered karimeen polichathu, which is generally baked with banana leaf. What we got was deep fried foods wrapped in Banana leaf. In exchange they offered pomfret tawa fry. Fish was fresh. But it was over cooked again. No flavours of Kerala. No pepper. We ordered some duck roast. The gravy was good. But the meat was hard and brown. Stale. Kerala foods is so beautiful. This is shame on Kerala food. Even their appam was terrible. This place is run by people from North East. Nothing against them. They are in fact very good and courteous to serve. But I do not think they can cook a Kerala dish well. Pathetic.
Sudipto Biswas
We decided to make stop on the way home to taste some Kerala delight. I have eaten in Kerala mess like places before and the biggest aroma usually comes from the use of the coconut oil. People may have divided opinion about this aroma esp those who are not used to it. However, whatever food we tasted here didn't seem to have a strong smell. Hence for some it may not come across as authentic but for us, it was a positive experience.

However with that said, we started off with some mushroom starters followed by a fried pomfret, that seemed to be the catch of the day. The pomfret perfectly fried.

In the main course we tried appam, a chicken curry, thaiyal curry and some brown rice. Everything tasted good. The chicken though was not well done. However the preparation was very rich and full of oil.

The staff here are friendly and then place is very neatly maintained. It's not a very expensive place for the decor and presentation.

I would say - staff 4.5/5.
Decor - 4.5/5
Food - 3.5/5
Presentation - 4/5.
Deepak Menon
I have been to fort kochi multiple times and was a big fan of their Kerala cuisine. However, my recent visit to the place was a major letdown. The food quality had reduced considerably . The Kerala porotta seems to be made from the readymade packets that you get from shops and the virgin pinacolada tasted more like lassi mixed with pineapple juice. Hope they do not compromise on food quality and taste as it is used to be of my favourite places for Kerala food.
Parvathi
I think this place used to be much better a year ago. Cleanliness gets 5/5. Staff courtesy 4/5.
The food just gets 2.5/5. They say they serve Kerala food but nothing comes close to it. And they are overly priced. For chicken fry(4 small pieces) it is almost 390rs. And it was not even done properly.
Thoroughly disappointed with their food and exorbitant pricing!
Radhika Gupta
Its a taste of Kerala cuisine and you get a fair amount of idea of what the cuisine is all about and the wide variety, But (All) the dishes are not of the authentic Kerala flavors.

Any pepper dish here does not have the peppery flavour of the regular Malayali dish - is it the pepper's fault or the Chef's - don't know.

Try the regular Kerala paratha or appams - safest options and I would suggest fish or vegetarian

nice ambience; seems to be a small place...Few tasty delicacies are from Kerala. we had been for lunch had the paratha and mutton curry- amazing!
Judy Dennett
The taste of the food was really good. The ambience wasn’t quite right though. Each dish had a very distinctive taste which I particularly liked.

Great food ! Amazing service !!! All the people serving food, the counter people are always help out with a great smile on their face !
From giving us an amazing spot to sit , fresh buttermilk made with authentic Kerala style to getting delicious, mouthwatering food within a short span of time everything was done with commendable efficiency and effectiveness.
Will definitely recommend this place if you are looking for original Kerala taste and great prices.

Was meaning to try this place for a while, finally got a chance to try it and I am glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed the food. We ordered stir fried horse gram, veg stew, potato and mushroom in coconut gravy, kadala curry , masala rice and apams. I was pleasently surprised by the presentation and preparation. If you want to try Kerala cuisine, I strongly reccomend you give this place a go !

Looked forward to an authentic Kerala experience in Bangalore. It started of on a wrong note with 4 beer brands being displayed and all they could offer was the worst brand ever - Budweiser!. Had to do with it.
For starters we ordered Anglo Indian chilli buffalo meat, spicy pepper crab fry and khandari seer fish fry. the beef was tasty but tender enough, the seer fish was not fried enough but the crab was indeed the best dish amongst the three. All in all not very satisfied.

Fort Kochi - 1 MG Road Mall. A quick stopver in between retail therapy at the 1 MG Mall, Fort Kochi seemed a no-brainer choice, giventhe huge list of non veg & sea food varieties listed right at the entrance. A medium sized place, the place already seemed to have almost all tables occupied. However, was lucky enough a land a table almost immediately.

Ordered a couple of gin & tonic (helped with the Zomato Gold offer of 1+1), with a nandu kurumilagu fry (crab pepper fry) to go along, fish fingers and a Malabar style chicken biriyani for the main course. All dishes were served in a jiffy, piping hot. The crab fry was absolutly yum! The biriyani was kinda bland; however, tasted very well with the meat falling off the bones. Ended with a tender coconut transparency for dessert - a tender coconut pudding with a coconut cream base. The coconut flavor stood out & lingered on the tongue long after the meal. :)

Overall, the bill worked out to around 2K, which seemed quite reasonable for 2 persons. Do visit if you love Kerala cuisine / seafood!

Went there with friends one night
The ambience is pretty good. It could do with a bit of clean though
Drinks were alright, though we all felt that the cocktails didn’t have much alcohol if at all
The food was pretty brilliant. Tangy and spicy!
And it was good value for money too
Will be revisiting this place again

Had been for lunch with office colleagues. Had aappam with duck curry and lamb biryani. Food was tasty and authentic. Nice ambience. Good service

Terrible visit, to the extent that every single minute here feels like a waste. The Sangria was super sweet, service was terrible to the extent they didn't seem like they cared. Got the Crab which they suggested and said was a soft shell one, turned out to be something else. Took us 15 mins to get the check. Avoid this place like the plague

"Not a good #ZomatoGold experience

Mar 22 evening: Located in the mall close to our hotel. It was quite empty when we walked in. The interiors are quite minimalist with light colours dominating - walls and chairs. The food was good and tasted nice. However, the experience with free drinks was not as expected. We were 2 members with Gold and they tried to fool us around by mentioning that we didn't mention about Gold. I had to chat online with Zomato to make them understand. This was the first time in last 5 months that we faced such a situation. It kind of ruined an otherwise fine evening."

Was there was a Sunday lunch. Used zomato gold on drinks. The Tom Collins was ok, and the old fashioned was just about fine. The food on the other hand was good, appams were the highlight. The fish fry was as expected but the chicken gravy had only chunky n chewy pieces. Hence rating 3 coz I expected better drinks n chicken pieces.

Pathetic service. First time visit. No accountability. Waiting for food for an hour. Do not visit. Give it a skip. People hiding in the kitchen. No senior person in restaurant. People have no experience at all. Such a sorry state of affairs.

Wonder how this place got times food award😳
Service is very bad!!!!!!

Staffs doesn’t even know what they are serving..don’t know English or any other language also..must be hired for cheap salary🤷‍♂️
Overall it was very bad experience

Had lunch at this place on a Sunday recently. We had Kappa biryani, kerala parotta and Aleppey fish curry.Good ambience.Wonderful service. However, they can add more kerala dishes to their menu.

Good restaurant around but those who would like to have the ambience of a typical Malayali's resto, this is not the place. Neither the servers are keralites nor the place looks the one. Food is decent. We've tried beef dry chilli, koonthal roast, fish roast and Malabar biriyani. Never thought the biriyani would be this sweeter and the koonthal chunks are this harder. Had to cope up with stomach pain the following day, suspecting due to koonthal dish. Good choice of alcohol, cocktails and mocktails. Overall a decent resto but not a must go place especially for the date lunches;)

Had lunch at Fort Kochi with my sons yesterday. Totally impressed with the service and food. The mutton stew and fish in mango curry with appam were delightful. Highly recommended for kerela food. The only thing which could be better is the washroom cleanliness. Service was great !

Food was ok, not that great.. Service was slow and had to wait long even to get our bill.. On weekday lunch time they ran out of paneer and couldn't serve any of the paneer dish..Ambience is good but overall a little pricey..
Had been to this place for lunch with a few of my colleagues. Being a weekday, it was less crowded and ambience seemed to be very pleasant. Had a very mixed experience here which I will be sharing.

Coming to the food, we order for Seer Fish Fry, Jumbo Prawns, Seer Fish Curry and Chicken Biryani. The Seer fish is definitely worth trying. Found the rest of the dishes to be quite average considering that it is an authentic Mallu place. (Undoubtedly better restaurants in Bangalore which offer this cuisine.)

Coming to the hospitality, the manager took our order very quickly and we ensured to order all the items at once as we wanted to wrap up lunch as soon as possible. And then was the turning point, the food took over an hour to be served after repeatedly enquiring about its status. (I think we asked like 3 times.) Point to highlight, the manager and waiters had to be called repeatedly to for just serving water. We had asked for finger bowls, which wasn't served either. Witnessing such situations, we just washed up at the restroom. Surprisingly, when we asked for the cheque, that did not take more than 2min to arrive at the table. I think that says it all.

Overall, would say that the food is pretty average for the price. The service is pathetic and definitely needs to be improved. No sense of hospitality even after pointing things out. The manager needs to be replaced, he did not even bother to take our feedback and avoided any interaction with us once the bill was cleared. Had a very bad experience here and would suggest everyone to keep this in mind before visiting. Waste of time and money.

Excellent experience! Delicious Appam as good as I’ve had in Kerala, exceptional service. We had the appam and the paneer/chickpea curry (so good). Will definitely be a regular here.

Good Kerala food. Ordered mushroom ghee roast, Kerala parotta chicken curry yumm ... parotta was light and curry was correctly spiced. It has cuisines classified as kochi travancore delicacies and Syrian Christian and Malabari cuisine..

I will call this place a mallus paradise....the tastiest mallu food I have had once I have stepped out of Kerala....one of the best dishes here is the pepper paneer...a twist in paneer with Kerala stayle masala....it is so yummy that I order it Everytime I go there...I have not tried everything in the menu...nut whatever I have had has been finger licking good....the only disadvantage is that the prices are a little on the higher side...but I would urge every mallu to visit this place and have some superb Kerala style food...

Tried the Puttu Kadala & Appam and Stew! The taste was good & the service fast and courteous.

While the ambience was good, it wasn't up to a level of a fine dine speciality restaurant.

Conveniently located at the top floor of 1 MG mall fort kochi has been on my visit list for awhile. Luckily though at an odd time, walked in here at 4 one afternoon for drinks and starters.
After a long day of shopping:P we sat down to chill. Ambience is quaint and simple. Nothing to over the top and pretty minimal.. disappointing to some but subtle to most :)
The main highlight of this place is its food. Mind blowing food.
The seafood is to die for. Ordered 3 types of prawns, a lamb starter and a chicken starter. The deep fried prawns were beautiful and the lamb was perfectly cooked with all the right spices. The dishes had empathise on the Kerala heritage and it did feel like the food I had at the backwaters. Happy hours made me happier.
Overall a lovely evening spent, hitting all the right taste buds.

Tasty and sumptuous portions, the spread is good and well defined, we had few dishes and found them well cooked and well balanced even the kerala parota was nice, thin and multilayed...attention to detail is noticeable...prices moderate, service good.

Good interior
Good staffs
The menu has limited variety of food to choose.
I liked the chicken dishes than the sea food.
Biryani was kind of sweet which I wouldn’t prefer.
Good drinks 🍸
Music and food quality should be improved.
Cozy atmosphere. Loved the food . It was in Dec 2016 that I visited this restaurant when I had been to bangalore, hence I don’t remember every dish’s name , Please forgive me .

Perfect place to get a taste of traditional Kerala cuisine. Chicken, Fish, Prawns, Squid, Pork, Beef you name it you got it. Loved the chicken wings, sear fish, appams with kadla curry. The service was a bit slow, but rest is all great. The prices are steep and a special mention for their desserts - enjoyed the coconut pudding.

Cozy comfy well lit place with some authentic Kerala food. Loved the chicken starters. Super friendly staff!! And totally worth the money! I would say it's definately worth a visit.

In a group of 6, we could try, appams (palappam), puttu, kadla curry, vegetable stew and masala rice. Appams , were the show stopper for sure, light as cloud, melt in the mouth. The vegetables felt short in the stew, but they hit the right note with the flavours. Puttu and kadla went beautiful together. Their service as I experienced, was quite prompt. All and all a very satisfying meal.

This place gives you an authentic flavour of Kerala, so any one out there who likes such authentic food would love to try it. Was a nice place overall in terms of ambience, food as said holds that authentic taste. Give it a shot if u haven't tried mallu style food.

Chanced upon here for lunch. It was totally empty. Had a nice minimalistic look!

We ordered four starters on the basis of what we read was good here through zomato. First in line was the Garlic Buttered prawns, which really showcased the natural great taste of prawns. Interesting first few bites, and then it gets a little monotonous. I really wish there was a little bit of spice to lift the flavors and make it addicting. But, then again, you can't go wrong with prawns and this dish was Great.

Second thing we had was a Masala Fry White Pomfret, a little messy to eat. But a nice, crispy and fresh piece of produce. Just slightly low on salt and missed the zing factor.

Third thing we ordered was some Chilli pepper mushroom starter. This was fine, but there was a bitter aftertaste and I wish the mushroom was grilled just a bit so it has a bite. Otherwise just a mushy starter.

Since we were full, we jumped straight to dessert. This was the highlight of the meal and the one dish we were really looking forward to trying, and it was the Tender Coconut Transparency. Incredibly good taste, went perfectly well with the vanilla ice cream. Just wish the base was a little less chilled.

A nice experience, a few hits and misses.

Had an awesome prawn curry with paratha. The curry was amazing and the portion was so large I had to take leftovers back to the hotel. Paratha can be better felt a bit like the frozen ones we have overseas.
The service was good, but I felt they should be more receptive to all customers not just the flashy ones.

Great food almost makes up for the absolutely pathetic, annoying, inconsiderate and inhospitable service!
Firstly.. we walked in and just stood by the door. The staff couldn't be bothered that customers were just standing by the door. No greeting, no courtesy
Never knew that a palm sized fish dish can cost upwards of 700 INR! nice place in a hot real estate, not very crowded, authentic taste but bit costly for the quantity... better to increase price and quantity, both, if at all ;)

Honestly , I haven't been much into Kerala food and mostly stayed away from it but am glad to have stepped into this place. Tomato flavoured lamb curry was good but the Malabar style spicy prawn curry was simply delicious. and went very well with Kerala Parontha .I would keep coming back just for the prawn curry. Rating Fort Kochi at 3.5 as I feel its slightly overpriced but well ..what isnt at 1 MG :)

Went for their Onam Sadhya today- on thiruvonam day. We chose the place because they were taking reservations rather than asking us to come and wait. We had booked the table at 130 and it was sparsely crowded. The dishes that were served were nice and tasty and the three payasams were really a highlight.

But...

Nobody serves cold food for onam sadhya. It's a strict no-no, whatever be the excuse could have been. From a restaurant that prides itself as the best in Kerala cuisine in the city, it is unpardonable, and it was a huge letdown. Not even a single dish was mildly warm (forget being hot). I see from the comments that others have had the same experience last year. I guess from this that the management doesn't take reviews seriously.

Also, why was that electronic trance(or whatever that is) music playing during an onam sadhya?
MasterFoodie
They do have some novelty Malabar dishes but slightly disappointed with the taste . I didn't find anything remarkable with the Prawn curry ,but the appam and chicken stew held up !

We attended our anniversary dinner here. Mixed reviews for the food, few items were awesome and the rest was not up to the mark. We had ordered for mutton pulliyachatthu, butter garlic prawns, fish fingers, Malabar mutton biryani & Pompret masala fry . The butter garlic prawns, Pompret fry was lip smacking, however, the Malabar mutton biryani was so not good, the mutton was undercooked and it had no taste.
