Review S N Refreshments - Bengaluru

Shashaank CD
Probably one of the best Dosas I have had in a while. The Dosas served here a have a tinge of sweetness to it. Served with Aloo Palya and Gatti Chutney (Thick paste). The delectable taste is gonna make me visit it soon again. The tea served is also very unique. I’ve seen and everyone has, a coffee decoction for serving coffee. Here they do the same for tea as well which was very rooted in taste and freshness. The building is tad bit old, but the taste is worth here. There’s a couple of parking spots for two wheelers but four wheelers have to be parked in cross roads and one must reach by walk.

Best breakfast joint in South Bangalore with yummiest Idly-Chutney, Masala Dosa, Puliyogre, Vangibath being some of their best dishes. Crowded most of the time ans it’s a darshini. Parking is not available however you can park nearby and it’s safe.
Sanketh Balakrishna
An absolute killer place to grab some masala dosa and idli vada. The chutney is something to die for. This along with the warmth of everyone at the restaurant makes this place very homely.
Rakshith jain
Crispy Dosa, soft idlis, spicy sambar, nice chatni and tea is made with dicoction. Overall food was good and prices are decent.
VENKATANARAYANA RAO DESAI
Said to be a very old restaurant named after a person Sathya Narayana. Found that people will keep coming here. Only self service. Prices are moderate. Food items also tasty. It's on the roadside. So wheelchair friendly parking. Fast service when ordered. First Token to be obtained after payment.

SN is a legendary place in South Bengaluru, if you want to have a perfect breakfast just visit SN. They serve limited options which is Masala dose, Idli Vada, Upma and have best Filter coffee. Must Visit.
RAYSITI Online
Another standard South Indian Breakfast joint serving good quality, hot Dosa, Idli with great tasting chutney and sambar servings. Crowded, difficult to secure a table, placing an order is a rush, but isn't this the same in any good fast food joint which pulls a good crowd. Don't miss a typical breakfast if you are in this part of the town!

This is one of the must visit places in JP Nagar for South Indian dishes. Unique taste, quick service and affectionate owners are the key things to note. Try idli vade or masal dose👌 with coffee, you won't be disappointed.
Shravan Guduthur
Idly vada is good. Dosa is decent. Pyliyogare and curd rice are good choices in the noon. Extremely crowded on weekends with que for billing.

This place had been on my list from a very long time. Had heard and read a lot about this place. But it looked like the place was just over hyped. We ordered for Idly, Vada, Kesari bhath, Masala Dosa, Plain Dosa and Coffee. Idly was very soft and definitely worth mentioning. Dosa were crisp and good but definitely not one of the best dosa in Bangalore like other reviews say. Kesari bhath also tasted nice. What was most let down were the sambar and chutney. Chutney was sweet with a spicy ending and the sambar just average. I don't know whether this is how it tasted daily or it was their bad day coz all reviews are just complimenting the chutney. Would give it one more try again to recheck this. The extra star is for the coffee. The Coffee was just perfect and it ended my breakfast on a very good note.

Dose, idly and their vada is to die for. Too delicious, soft texture. Quick service. Don't go with the hopes that you will get a chair to seat, no but make a do with whatever you have and enjoy their breakfast menu. Don't forget Kesari bath
Akarsh Gowda
This iconic place in jp Nagar 2nd phase is know for its idly with sambar dip and idli with chutney dip. Their kharabath, masala dose and filter coffee is also top notch.
chiranthan krishnappa
Just the best idli vade around. I don't have to say much, the food tastes great. I would like to note the Uddin vade was crunchy fresh even though I ordered it at like 8pm.

Food here is tasty and chutney is yummy. I go here only for chutney and their coffee. Staff are friendly. Uncle in counter knows his customers by names and there food preference. He welcomes us with a warmth and make sure he greets us. Evenings you get poori there, which is tasty.

Breakfast meant SN Refreshment to this side of JP Nagar and that says a lot about the place. Mornings are crowded, students, professional, senior citizens, policemen on patrol..you name it. Place has limited capacity to stand, but customers are least bothered about that and find their corner in or outside the shop. I tried Dosa, Idli and coffee and yes there was something special to it. Dosa - USP is crispiness on outside and softness inside, Idli was really soft and chutney was tasty. About chutney, I think it is same base with Dosa and Idly with difference being the thickness - yet it tastes very different and compliment the dish uniquely. Place serves traditional south Indian filter coffee. I'll avoid the debate about being the 'Best' breakfast place but definitely among the best. Worth a visit for south Indian breakfast!

This establishment has been around the area for a very long time and its basically a landmark. The food is amazing and they have maintained the taste. Pocket friendly place. My personal favourites are - Idly Chutney dip, Masala Dosa and filter coffee..

If you are looking for authentic dosa, idli, chow chow, this is the place for you. We have been visiting this place for ages and the flavours have remained the same. The dosa is still thick and crispy, coconut chutney is still delicious, idli vada and everything else also have same authentic taste since we have been eating here. Recommend this place highly to everyone who wants to taste real Bangalore dosa. And also don't forget to have filter coffee in the end, you will instantly fall in love with it. Prices have increased slightly recently but still the best in 55rs. There is place to stand and eat and place gets crowded during peak hours. The eating area is kept clean regularly. Plan accordingly.

I've been going to SN since 20 years. Never once has the quality slipped. Amazing South Indian breakfast items with rava idli and puri sagu in the evening.

One of the hidden gem in JP Nagar which servers done amazing breakfast 😋😋
Preetha Subramanian
One of the best dosas of Bangalore, and the chutney is so consistently good. Been a regular for more than 3 years
Aditya M R (www.foodrestorank.com)
a small tucked in self service darshini restaurant near Bank of Baroda in JP Nagar 2nd phase, serving south Indian breakfast and meals, very simple menu with only few dishes on the menu, we visited once for breakfast, just a simple plain masala dosa served with sambar and chutney, nothing fancy to expect, it's just a simple quick serviced stand and eat eatery, good for takeaway parcels.

Idlis are soft and hot as muffins

One of the best place for breakfast. One special breakfast each day. Crowded on Sundays. The chutney tastes awesome. It's unique. Self service.
Swaraj Das Mohanty
I had heard of this place for quite sometime and finally paid a visit a few days ago on a gloomy rainy Sunday morning. The line for food at 6:20am speaks volumes about this place. Dosa was crispy and chutney was amazing not at all watered down.
Sindhu Srinivas
Absolutely loved their idli chutney. One of the best. The idli are served hot always with very yum chutney. The vada is also very crispy n hot most of the times along with yummy sambar. Their masala dosa also tastes awesome. Worth visiting again n again

SN Refreshments was one of those places that I was told to visit else I would be missing out on some amazing south indian food, I recently had the opportunity to visit SN Refreshments and here are my impressions.

It's a small place , quite crowded and food being churned out fast for parcel and for people waiting in the queue. There is no seating, but there are tables , so be prepared to stand and eat.

Coming to the food, we ordered one plate idli, idli Vada, puliyogere and masala dosa. The idli Vada was standard, this is one of the few places where you get chutney dip for idli. The chutney was very good, really enjoyed the taste of the chutney served here. The masala dosa was good but far from the best in Bangalore. The puliyogere which was the rice dish available on that particular day was not my favourite, very sweet and hence ruined the taste for me.

SN Refreshments has the outlook of a small whole in the wall darshini which promises delicious south indian fare, but the underlining sweetness in few dishes especially the sambar overpowers any other flavour present in a dish.

Food - 3/5
Overall - 3/5
Sudipta
The Ultimate place for morning quick bite South Indian style Breakfast. Every single plate is worth it. They have a very limited menu, but the taste is fabulous of all of them. Located at a very silent place in JP Nagar, take a table (if you could get one in crowd), enjoy the weather and have the delicious breakfast from their menu. 👍👍
Amit Avinash
Pleasantly surprised with the quality of South Indian dishes on offer. We went here late for breakfast and were only ourselves to blame for only getting to taste their idli, vada and filter coffee. It was pretty disappointing to have missed out on a potentially yummy dosa.

It is self service here and you have to stand and have your stuff. Idlis and Vadas were awesome in taste. So was the filter coffee too, as reviewed by those who had it.

Definitely a value for money outlet and we traveled all the way from Domlur to get to this place. Definitely recommended for value for money excellent south indian breakfast.

Food: 4.5/5
Ambience: 2.5/5
Service: 4/5
Pricing: 4/5

Where do I begin describing the place I've been going to for 20 years! The Masala Dosa with the spicy chutney is a treat to the taste buds and I wait eagerly to have breakfast here every Saturday morning! The Vada is extremely crisp and always freshly made and so are the Idlis. The sambar is good but my favorite is the chutney and I always make it a point to pay for extra chutney when I parcel because I;ve not had better chutney anywhere else! Their Chow chow bath is equally good and though the prices have increased with time, its totally worth it. I prefer their coffee over tea and service is fast. The only downside is there is no place to sit and enjoy your food. Highly recommended!
TEJASVI N
The best place to have Idly Vada. One of the iconic place which serves quality crispy vada and smooth Idly.

Quality and Quantity both are maintained .

If you are foodie this is a must try !!
Sumanth D N
This place has been one of the best dosa place near j p nagar. Totally love this place as food here tastes the same even after ages. I would recommend this place if you want to have authentic Karnataka breakfast.
Vivek Gopal
A legendary outlet for idli vada. Had been regular to this place during my initial days in Bangalore. Happened to visit this place last evening. I must say that the taste has remained the same! Even after years, I found the same taste and experience here. Best idli vada and chutney combo around JP Nagar.
Downside is that you will have to wait in queue to get those soft idlis. Overall, a great nostalgic experience this time.
Tulacenath
This is one of those legendary and best place to have Idly, dosa, filter coffee, etc., try once and you will keep visiting often. They won’t disappoint you with taste anytime you go and it is pocket friendly.
Karthik Krishna Murthy
Visited this place after one of my friend suggested it . Visited it on a Sunday morning for breakfast and the place was was very crowded . Had to wait for 10 mins to just get the token for the food . Tried there kharabaath , kesaribaath , vada and coffee . Everything was good but not as good as I had expected reading the reviews though . But for people with the love for authentic south Indian styled breakfast in a proper darshini style of ambience , do give it a try . You won’t be disappointed.
Sri Vatsa
We absolutely love their idly chutney combo, vada sambar combo n their masala dosa as well. One of the places to grab a quick bite on d way to work. Mostly crowded place. You will have to wait in long queue to get your turn over the weekend. It's pretty same even over the weekdays as well.

This restaurant is the GOLD STANDARD in many areas. They are the best in Darshini style restaurants, best in maintaining the taste, best in retaining customers, best in hygiene, best in breakfast menu. They are rightly categorised in the LEGENDARY section in Zomato. In a time where people are looking for newness in dishes offered or the ambience or just about anything, SN REFRESHMENTS is one among those few restaurants which have the same menu since time immemorial. They are able to do that by maintaining the quality and taste. Nothing less than 5 stars to this restaurant!!!
Chimata Krishna Sunny
Doble Coffee here beats the coffee served in any other place of Bangalore. A must try drink

The dosas are amazing and kesari bath has got the right amount of sweetness

Heard good feedback on the rice dishes here
Girish Pai
An old style restaurant which serves delicious chutney dip idlis'. This is a small restaurant where you need to stand and eat but the buzz of the crowd and tasty food makes you like this restaurant. Only minus point is you need to pay by cash...no card..no app pay...nopes..nothing
Chaska
Good for quick bite. Good taste. Bit expensive. Best is Idly with Chutney or Masala dosa or Uppitu. Sambar ok ok. Rest of the dishes are average.
Sagar Biradar
Butter smooth idli, crispy dosas and vadas and addictive coffee. Small joint. No seating. Self service. Really crowded on weekend mornings....
Sandeep
This is a small restaurant in jp nagar. One of my friend took me to this place. Too much awesomeness in the small plates . Idli was hot n smooth which was dipped in chatni. Which very less hotels give. Since it costs more for them. Chatni was damn tasty u will have altogether different taste . N when I ate dosa I was flattered such a beautiful n crisp dose with alugade palya mind blasting. I think I consumed half a litre of chatni during the course of it. Special Thanks to the guys who r running this. Still keeping up with quantity n quality. I prefer this place over taza thindi.. A dosa would cost 40 to 45 bucks and idli 15 bucks and Wada 20 bucks.. Still there are such places exist enomical n top class food. I sometimes feel shouldn publicise more of this places cos more the users will screw up the hotels authenticity.

Food 5/5
Cost 5/5
Quality 5/5
Quantity 5/5
Ambience 3/5

Would definitely recommend to more ppl..
Satvik
The best item here is idly n vada with chutney dip. All other items like masala dosa, kharabath, coffee are just fine.

The taste is similar to chamarajpet brahmins coffee bar.
Akash Rana
A small place which serves south-indian breakfast. Their menu is limited, but serves delicious breakfast delicacies. At different time, we have tried Idli Vada Sambhar, Kesari Bath, Masala Dosa, and coffee. They serve very quick. Idli is very soft and dosas are crispy. Seating arrangement is not there; you have to stand and eat. Overall, a good experience.
Gangadhara Gk
Very bad food is not good in the idly sambar
Sambar us over masala plz dont eat idly sambar.....
And masala dhosa is very worst in experience in my life

Visited this place for a weekend breakfast. As the name says it was really a refreshing experience.
Its a stand and eat place.
Since it was a weekend there was good number of people but didn't took much time. The prices are also cheaper.

Idly vada with chutney is the must try dish.Chutney is delicious here. You can try out masala dosa and other dosas along with the chutney.

My rating 4/5 for a good breakfast.
For the brief couple of months that my office was at JP Nagar, this used to be our go-to place for breakfast, snack and sometimes quick lunch as it was literally around the corner from our office.

Masala dosa, Vada and Kharabhath are must try. Delectable.

Idly is not bad but I never ordered idly after tasting the above three.

My colleagues loved the coffee for which one of them had very high praise.
Mahi At Peace
I was a frequent visitor years ago n decided to head here for breakfast. This is a legendary outlet. I had idly with chutney. While the idly was good, the chutney was really sweet. Looks like either sugar or jaggery is added. I didn't like the taste of it as such. Next I had masala dosa. Again the dosa was good but the chutney was not. Sweet taste of the chutney kills the dish. Finally had coffee. My favorite n was the best of all. Very good taste. Overall a above average fare. If the chutney was not sweet, it would have been very good!

Having seen this place so many times while criss crossing the locality, finally got a chance to visit this place which is crowded most of the times.
A small place spread across the size of two shops, they have a limited menu but serve lip smacking breakfast delicacies.
We tried Idli Vada Sambhar, Masala Dosa and Kesari Bath along with coffee.
Despite the crowd, they manage to serve it very quick including the dosa items.
Idli is very soft and great combination with Sambhar, Vada and Masala Dosa is crisp and hot and goes well with Chutney as well as Sambhar.
Kesari Bath is just "too sweet" to ignore, made with ghee, tastes very good.
They don't have seating arrangement but has some tables to stand and eat.
Overall a must visit in this locality.
Must try - too difficult to suggest. Everything is a must have.
Aparna Paramesh
SN Refreshments, fondly called Bhattra hotel, is one place in and around JP Nagar to binge on some lip smacking idli vade sambar and chutney! This place is legendary and has been around for easily 3 decades now. The taste of the food and the attitude of the people, however, never seems to change with time.
Waiting for Zomato to start home delivery orders from here!😊
Abhinandan V
Small darshini style restaurant. Famous for dosay, idli and khara bhaat. Chutney is to die for. I have tried their rice bhaats also. Very tasty. There is no seating available. Be ready to wait in long queues on weekends.
Deepika Vyas
I have grown up eating their idli vada chutney and sambar! The chutney and sambar are to die for! I like their masala dosa and rava idli too. But their idli-vada-chutney-sambar is my favourite.

I was roaming in the Lanes of JP Nagar and came across this place however i have heard of this place earlier. i had Idli,Vada & Masala dosa. You can die for idli and vada, Masala dosa was quite thick, it would have tasted more better if this was little thin. Overall this is one of the good places where you can have good breakfast in bangalore.
Nagarjun Gowda
Best place for breakfast in south bengaluru. Must visit place. Idli, masala dosa, coffee is very nice. Seating is not available thats only minus about this restaurant.
Rashmi Satish
Masala dosa and coffee are really awesome and a must try. Their idli vada is also very good. Filter coffee is the actual South Indian filter coffee. Awesome joint for a quick bite
Prakruthi C
A great place for breakfast with delicious idli😋 and crispy vada. Their masala dosa is a perfect 10/10. Also their puliogre had a homely touch to it.
Coffee was the best😅
Vinay Khasnis
200 mtrs from my home, this place was a saviour in my bachelor hood days. I used to hit this place for super soft idlis, piping hot vadas and Masala dosa. Super crispy, super amazing. The onwer greets you with a smile. Coffee is best, and also one of the main attractions over here.
Jack N Coke
Nice place was quick breakfast, very difficult to find a parking nearby. Masala Dosa is quite good and taste authentic.
Other items are equally good and worth a try.
Priya
One of the old and famous Darshinis of Bangalore. It is a small establishment where you place an order in one counter and food and coffee served at the adjacent one. Seating arrangement is not available but few tables are set where you can keep your plates and have your meal. Few people also sit on the steps leading to the shop and have their breakfast.

We ordered -

Kaara baath - It is served in a bed of coconut chutney. Simple, hot and flavourful, a great combination. The chutney here is heavenly and you don’t feel at all the need for sambar.

Vada sambar - Usual fare and we enjoyed it. Crisp and tasty vada so no complaints there.

Idli - Soft and spongy idlis served with sambar and chutney but I recommend it with the chutney again.

Masala dosa - Fresh potato filling with a hot dosa - what more could you ask for?

Finally finished with steaming cups of coffee. A great place for breakfast which can be visited again.

Quick service is provided though many a times there is a queue of people lined up. Go early in the morning- you will enjoy it more.
Sumukh Vishwanath(Tummy On Fire)
One of the best south indian breakfast or evening time snacks place in JP Nagar . Probably I am going to this place from more than ten years and the quality has been maintained the same despite of the price . Even the cost is not too high . The quantity also is good . When it comes to taste , it has its own style of flavour in the dosas , Idlis and kharabath . Basically it can be called as upma rather than kharabath . Most loved dish here is kharabath vade and masale dose . To speak about the crispiness of the vade I seriously want to have it right next moment of thinking about it . It will be that fritter and they serve both chutney and sambar for the idli vade or single vade or single idli . But the combination with the chutney is the main thing over here . Masala dose is served with gatti chutney or the consistency of the chutney will be thick for dose . Idlis are really soft and always served hot . Suites best with chutney . Apart from this you get avalakki or Poha and at the end my meal will be completed with the glass of badam milk over here . My most favourite . Can consider this is one of the legendary restaurant of Bangalore . Must try in JP Nagar .

Please do watch our videos on our YouTube channel Tummy On Fire and like , share and subscribe our channel . Please do follow our page Tummy On Fire on Facebook , Instagram , Twitter and Snapchat .

Thank you .

Not that great hotel. Taste is okay. There are still better hotels in jp nagar which serves good idli & dosa. Can visit the restaurant only if you in hurry

Very nice place for idly vada and by two Masala dosa.. small place but food is good.. I took idly vada.. chutney was awesome. If you like chutney dip.. this is must go place..

Simple menu. Very tasty. Very clean place. Have stood in the queue for 20 min on saturday which was worth it. Visited many times after first visit.

A Twitter conversation led me to this place, considered as one of the famed Blor breakfast places. Snaking queues on a Sunday morning, people of all ages with plates loaded with masale dose n idlis in a puddle of sambar or chutney...a scene seen almost across the city's similar eateries, one can find it here too. So I joined one such queue on a Sunday morning. I ordered dose, chow chow bhat, idli vada, coffee n tea, for the three of us. Dose were crisp, a bit thick, with aloo subzi and slightly sweetish chutney. Idli, nothing extraordinary, vade were fine, sambar just ordinary. Kharabhat was good with traces of lemon in every bite enhancing its taste. The kind of sooji used in kesribhat was of coarser variety unlike what is regularly made use of, nevertheless, it was delectable. Tea was extremely bad, maybe something we should have avoided. Coffee was just average. Chutney was what I liked the most. Extremely pocket friendly, infact our cab fare was higher than our brunch like breakfast. Hygeinic, helpings are generous, service quick. Sometimes higher ratings make one anticipate extraordinary things from humble things like idly, which i think is the downside of rating apps. If I'm giving it a star less it's probably because I have succumbed to this aspect and not down rating the eatery per se. Divesh Thaploo

Good place to have South Indian breakfast. It's a very economical joint that serves a variety of South Indian food. I had Idli and Kesari Bath at this place and enjoyed the same. The food is fresh and tasted good. Kesari Bath was aromatic and the flavours were well balanced.

Not a place to go for the ambience which is very basic but looking at the prices, you can't expect more. The service is somewhat slow.
Sathya
A good place for a quick food. Nothing bad. I had idly vada and karabath. Karabath was excellent with Chutney. Chutney was mild and on sweeter side, but going well with karabath. Vada could be better. For such a small area,, it is well maintained in hygiene. Nothing showoff like some other thindi joint , here everything is natural and clean.

What do you say about a place that has been a huge part of your growing up years and continues to be so? A place that's a legend in its own right. How do you come off not raving especially when you know there is no need for it,;the food is just that good. Well, here goes nothing.

Too many memories come flooding back. Of Sunday breakfast parcels when mom says she's taking the morning off. Of hot vadas packed minus chutney & sambar to refashion into dahi vada later on. Of a guilty dosa for evening snacks after the bhel puri you already had for evening snacks. Of breakfast reunions with friends.

SN has been maintaining its top notch quality for almost two decades now. Inexplicably, I haven't had everything on the menu. But the plain dosa, vada, khara bath and kesari bath can compete with the best Bangalore has to offer. The chutney is among the best you'll have (and that's a hard won spot on the list). The runny khara bath is divine. Finally, the owner uncle is a wonderful, jovial man who'll randomly remark that he hasn't seen you in a while.
Yash
A no brainer when it comes to going out and having breakfast. S N might not have a fancy name or a amazing menu but it is definitely a hit among the locals.

I think the best part is the quick service kind of model for a no nonsense start to your day. I just loved the khara bhat and the plain dosa. It was interesting how the simplest of the stuff is so beautifully done.

The sambhar is a bit typical with oodles of cinnamon and strong spicy signature, it does take some getting used to.

Overall I think one can have breakfast here everyday with out any hassles, the way it is supposed to be.
Shreya Muddappa
Decent place,Self service, was crowed but the place was stuffy! Coming to the food had open butter masala dosa, masala dosa and coffee! The masala dosa was tasty and very crispy, had open butter masala dosa for the first time, taste different but yum with the addition chutney powder sprinkled all over!
LiveLoveEat
I had the idly-vada, coffee and masala dosa. The stand out was the dosa! Crispy, juicy, intimate. Very tasty! Probably the best I have had. The coffee, off course, excellent. Legendary outlet! Do try!
Aaksha
Love the breakfast here and its always packed on a sunday morning. Idlys are soft and the sambhar and chutney are too delicious! The dosa is a little too greasy but tasty nonetheless

Sahana Murthy
One of the most happening south indian hotel set up in JP nagar near 24th main! One and only branch which has maintained its consistency from a long time.

Have tried masala dose, idli vade and coffee. Absolutely worth every penny you pay. Vade is cripsy and not oily. Idli is soft and fresh. Masala dose is crispy and soft. Loved every bite. Coffee is to die for.

Cleanliness has been maintained and service is very quick. Do not miss this place if you stay near by. Go and checkout this place!
Nilesh Surana
Came across this place while working from Axilor recently.

Went to have tea and snacks mainly and I must say it's one of the best tea in town. They prepare tea in the same way as filter coffee which is what makes it special.

They also have a delicious kesari bath and sumptuous khara bath.

So a must try if you are in and around 24th main JP Nagar.
Abhijit Tharian
One of the best place in Bangalore for breakfast
Idli and vada are the best here
A little pricey but the taste and quality is really really good
This is definitely one of my favorite places for breakfast
Highly recommended for chutney lovers
Ankur Sille
Visited this place on a Saturday early morning. The place was moderately crowded. This place doesn't have an seating. The service is quick as the dosas are made in batches. Tried the idli and the dosa.

The idli was soft and canbeeither dipped in sambhar or Chutney. I tried the sambhar dip andsambhar was not great but good. The masala dosa is well roasted and was soft from the inside. The chutney os completely different, it is on the sweeter side and is extremely tasty. The stuffed aloo was average. The price is also on the lighter side

After hearing so much about I finally visited S N Refreshments. It's a small place which attracts a huge crowd. The line to the billing counter was long but it moved fast and the service was fast too. The place is small for the crowd it attracts. It doesn't have seating arrangements and it doesn't seem very hygienic.

The menu is simple and the pricing is reasonable. I ordered the Masala dosa, Vada and Chow Chow bath. The Kesari bath was good but the Khara bath wasn't great. Vada was nice and went well with the chutney though I usually prefer sambar. The Masala dosa was good, crisp and the mashed potato on the inside was good too. The taste wasn't spectacular to make it stand out compared to other places but the chutney was really good.
Kalyani Rajesh
One of my favorites! This simple place serves the best idli-vada chutney. I also love the curd rice here. The lunch menu is simple and delicious too. My husband loves the sambar here. He would happily eat here every single day if it was nearby!!
Jayesh Kamat
Been here long time ago . Nothing much to discuss about the menu and ambience. Just a simple restaurant with economic pricing. Foodies could avoid this place if they are concerned about hygiene and ambience. The service decent since most of it self service and the taste of the food is average. Don't understand the hyped rating .
Sriram Saraf
USP- Super Crispy Vada and the perfectly tangy chutney combination like none other. One of the best Khara Bhath in Bangalore. Super delicious and Crispy Masala Dosa packed with flavours.

This is a very modest joint in JP Nagar and I have been visiting this place for years and finally got some time and snaps to write the review. As a frequent visitor I can say that the taste is consistent throughout. Whatever you order here, you won't be disappointed.

Vada- The must dish to try. The Vada is super crisp and dipped in chutney the combo is mind blowing. The chutney here has a tinge of sour which tastes incredible. Must try. The Vada are always running out and freshly prepared and hot and Crispy. One of the best in Bangalore. Priced at 20₹ a piece at the time of writing the review, pricey compared to Taza Thindi but trust me its worth it.

Khara Bhath- I personally feel this is the best Khara Bhath I ate in Bangalore. The taste is unbelievably simple yet flavourful and has a bit of running consistency. Served with chutney and it's a wholesome meal to feel full and contented. Incredible taste.

Masala Dosa- Here is what makes this dosa stand out- the combination of flavours contributed by different substances. The potato filling is sweet and spicy yet tasty, the chutney is sour, combine it with crispy thick dosa and you hava a wholesome dosa packed with flavours.

I personally never felt the need of sambar in any of the dishes because the USP of this place is the tasty chutney. Tried sambar once and it was good but did not blow me away as the chutney did.

The other food items are good as well kesari bhath, etc. There is no place to sit and you have to stand and eat like other darshini but taste is definitely worth coming again and again.

The pricing is on average side. Highly recommended. Chutney is what makes this place stand out.

Visited this restaurant for breakfast recently . This place is legendary and very old too , anyone in the area will point you out to the restaurant direction . The restaurant is not located in the main road and it is located in a cross road .

Coming to the food -
1.idly vada - the idly was freshly made and was really hot and soft . The vada wasn't too oily , there was generous dose of pepper corns in it , it could have used a little salt .
The samber was really amazing ! The depth of flavour of really good ! Chutney was good nothing great .
2.masala dosa - the dosa was neatly roasted , the size of the dosa too was adequate . The Aloo too was really good . It was easily one of the best dosa I have had .
3.chow chow bath. - the karabath was really good , it was piping hot and had perfect amount of salt , spice and flavour in it . The quantity was adequate . The Kesari bath wasn't too oily and it could have used a little more sweetness .
4.coffee - the coffee was a filter coffee hence it was really good .

Overall the restaurant stands upto it's legendary name , the food is amazing and prices are pretty nominal . A must visit if you love south indian breakfast . A must visit if your a foodie
PS - there is no place to sit and it is always crowded .

This is a self service hotel in the lines of BCB & SLV but even better than them in my opinion. The idlys are really soft, the vadas and the dosas properly crisp and all of them go well with their amazing chattney (and yes, they also serve sambar). The coffee is good but not great. The points for improvement are the rice bath and chow chow bath which are a bit ordinary compared to the rest of their dishes. But overall a must visit breakfast place in South Bangalore.

Best idli and vade ever had. Sambar has very nice and strong hing flavour in it. For those who love hing flavour, this will be the best saambar. Vade is krisp and also soft. Idli just melts in mouth. Most of the famous places in Bangalore for idli vade doesn't provide you sambaar. But here it's not the case. U can relish idli vade and the best sambaar. Dose was just ok, Not legendary. I would like to visit again and again only for idli vade sambaar and filter coffee. Always crowded as the place has maintained its quality from years. Weekend expect more crowd. Price is litter higher as compared to other legendary outlets of idli and vade. But worth it.

Excellent crisp vadas and masala dosa. Idli's were avg. Chutney was tasty. Definitely a go-to place for authentic south indian Tiffin. The only bug bear is that no effort is made to organize the crowd. So there is a lot of pushing and shoving. I suppose that's part of the experience, but I wish they would at least insist on a simple queue system.

Have been a regular customer here for 25 years now. And this is a South Indian Breakfast Heaven. The cooks here are Artists. Whether it is Chutney or Sambar or Idli or Dosa. Whatever u buy, buys u immense satisfaction in return. Taste hasnt changed for years. Be it 1997 to 2007 to 2017, Same texture, same aroma, same flavor same high speed service and same satisfaction. Its a must try for all south indian food lovers. Otherwise, you simply wouldn't know what your taste buds are missing in life. :D

This place serves the best idli vada sambar chutney in Bangalore, period! An ex-colleague of mine had mentioned about this place to me about 4 years ago or so and since then am a regular customer of this joint. And I miss this place immensely when am not in Blore ! I have tried everything on their menu and all of the dishes taste excellent ! And since last 4 years the taste hasn't changed a bit. What adds as a plus to this place is their friendly staff.
Must try: Idli and crispy vada, dipped in chutney + sambar (trust me this is the best way to eat their idli vada)
Masala dosa

I wanted to write a review about this place from a long time. Heard a lot about this place for a chance to visit is on jp Nagar. OMG food taste very good. I ordered idly and Masala dosa. Idly is really soft I have never had so soft idly in bangalore and tastes good with chutney. Masala dosa is very crispy and tastes darn good. Must visit place for all.

The chutney idly Vada kharabath are the USP Here. Don't miss this place if you are in Bangalore. Self service only. No lunch available. Starts at about 7 am

Yet another friendly, neighborhood popular Darshini that Bangalore is famous for :) A masala dosE, kesaribhath, 2 kaapis for 80bucks in a locality like j p Nagar? I'm in! The service is friendly. They trust you with your order. Your bill could have 5 items but if you want them sequentially, they'll take the bill but trust you when you come back for the next item on your bill. The food is good and fresh. Do give it a shot. I've heard their Idli (with extra dollop of white butter) and vadas are terrific so I know what I'll order during my next visit :)

The food is just amazing..!!! The chutney provided is out of the world.. Easily the best chutney I have had in Bangalore..!! The Masala Dosa is a must-have here..!!All the other items [I have tasted Idly Vada, Chow Chow Bath and Masala Dose] are amazing too, but the Masala Dose with that yummy chutney is something else...!!! A fantastic stop-by for a food lover..!!!

Idli's just melts in mouth.. coffee is also equally good... Expect huge crowd on weekends... Again no place to sit... Good for a quick bite.

While most streets in Bangalore wore a deserted look on a sunday morning, one corner was buzzing with activity.

The legendary SN Refeshements is an example of places that have a limited menu but have mastered each and every dish on it. It's not difficult to make an idli or dosa but what really decides it's fate is the
accompaniment i.e. chutney and sambhar.

All states in South India have their own way of preparing sambhar and in Karnataka they make it thick, something similar to a spicy chutney, a tasty one!

Finished off the meal with a "shot" of coffee.

All this at an unbeatable price of 175INR.

An awesome joint located in the residential colonies of JP Nagar hard to locate if going for the 1st time better to use google maps it's accurate!!!!

Tried Idli, Vada, Khara Bhat, Masala Dose and Coffee all the items were without doubt tasty preferred the chutney so gave the sambar a miss.

Service is prompt and quick no hassles though I went on Sunday only thing is had to stand in the line to get the bill.

Will keep visiting this place don't miss it!!!!

The best without a doubt. My personal favorite is idly chutney, just melts in your mouth. Yummy!!!
The staff are pleasant and service oriented, despite the relentless pressure to serve hundreds of customers during peak times. Total value for the money.
The khara bhat was a miss. Great coffee.

Fabulous.
One and only word.

Try the authentic Filter Kaapi. Idly and Dose are not to be missed.
Khara Bath can be given a miss.

Completely packed in the mornings but the time taken is hardly anything.

PS: You might spot Girish Karnad here in the mornings if you are lucky enough. :P

World class idly's and dosas, the owner shankarnarayan runs this hotel with humbleness and honesty . The sambhar he makes is awesome , I think that is secret of the place . People stand in rush to get it :)

This is another Tiffin ( snack) joint in Bangalore where people drop in for their Dosas, Vadas and Idlis. Till a year ago, this place did brisk business, the food was good and the value for money immense.

The upsurge in the price of the pulses plus some ambitious pricing by the management has led to steep increase in the prices of their idlis, vadas and dosas. Couple that with an inexplicable change in the Chilli parameter has almost destroyed the character of the food. All of a sudden there is too much spice and chilli in the sambhar and the chutneys. I wonder why they did this. The food is hard to eat now with that heavy dash of unwanted spices.

The food would have merited a 3 rating but now it is a mere 2.

Excellent, brilliant, fantastic. Coffee, dosa, the gentleman at the cash counter all are a delight.

Have been visiting this place on every trip to Bangalore.

FYI:Girish Kannad's regular place.
