Review Mahesh Lunch Home - Bengaluru

Fathima Musthafa
Today marked our third visit to Mahesh Lunch House. Started our meal with delightful Crab Meat Soup. The Mahesh Lunch House special Basa fish appetizer was somewhat average this time, though we thoroughly enjoyed it during our previous visit. The real star of the meal was the Squid and Prawns Ghee Roast, which consistently delivers an amazing taste. While we haven't tried Mangalore ghee roasts elsewhere for comparison, this one stands out for its rich flavor.Pairing the ghee roasts with Neer Dosa is always a wise choice, as the neer dosa's neutral taste allowed the ghee roast gravy to shine. Mahesh Lunch House continues to be a go-to place for its flavourful Mangalore dishes. 😊

I Googled "fish meal for lunch" and discovered Mahesh Lunch Home. I ordered Fish Meals Combo and I asked them to fry the fish without coating it in rawa, and they prepared it just the way I wanted. The taste was incredibly delicious, especially the fish fry without rawa. Give it a try; you won't be disappointed. The food, taste, and quantity are all excellent, though it is a bit pricey. But it's definitely worth it for the delicious taste.

It is a great place if you are a seafood enthusiast. Ambiance is quite warm and beautiful. The hospitality of the staff is really good. A Food we had here: Crab Varathul- Must try Vijaywada Prawn curry - Great ( They provide curry Tasters so it is easier to choose before ordering) Neer Dosa- good Surmai Tawa Fry- good Solkadhi- Great Ghee rice- okay Overall, it is a lovely place for sea food lovers. It's a bit expensive, but the taste is worth it.

One of my most favourite restaurants in recent times, the food here is over the top and the variety of cuisine that they serve is just amazing. If you visit here do ask for curry tasting and try out the various delicious curries that they serve for free and choose the one you like the most! Coconut payasam is a must try here. Also pulimunchi and tandoori fish are the best in seafood! We had ordered chicken kadipatta but didn’t really like it. Service is great and there’s waiting of min 10 mins during weekdays n 20-30 mins during weekends even if you book the table during peak hours

Fresh food loved the concept. Live fish to choose from. They have 8 different types of Indian curries to choose from. They are especially known for seafood. We loved the carb in Kerala Curry. The staff were so polite and service was quick. Both indoor and outdoor seating is warm and cozy. Located at a prime location on 100 feet road Indranagar.

Been here on a Sunday evening with my friends & I must say this place was packed during the prime hour. The place was very noisy due to the kids at the other tables. We had ordered starters like special prawns, special tawa fish fry, chicken & mutton ghee roast along with neer dosas. The prawns starter was good except the fact the prawns weren't fresh. On the other hand, the tawa fish fry were delicious. The chicken & mutton ghee roast were delectable & were perfect for neer dosa. The chicken korma curry looked similar to the Thai green curry and was way better than the latter. Their special prawns biriyani was okay & nothing much to complain about.

Have visited Mahesh Lunch Home quite a few times and I must say that even though I'm a vegetarian, I love the food here. Favourites being Mushroom Ghee Roast and Appam. They also serve liquor here, but sadly both the times I wanted to drink beer, they didn't have the beer I wanted from their menu. The place is mainly famous for seafood and there is a seafoody smell in the restaurant, so anyone who cannot stand the smell of fish and seafood better avoid.

I loved the ambience, service and food. Decorated with natural green plants and a warm bright ambience. But they didn't serve the thaalis on weekends which is not fair. They welcome you with fish shaped fryums. The starters are authentic and super tasty. They have a small bar and serve alcohol. They have a good variety of fishes and can serve you the way you want it cooked. We tried prawns, seer, surmai, bangda, squids. For main course, they have a gravy taster to help you decide your base gravy. I personally loved this concept. The fish gravy quality is super amazing. Prices are definitely on a higher side. The portion size is less for the prices charged.

Finally got a chance to visit this place and it was definitely worth the wait. The food was 5 stars. The seafood served was fresh and every item had a unique flavour to it.

I deducted one star coz it was a costly place and they added 800 rs Service Charge on our bill. We later got it removed but still I wouldn't visit this place very often, only occasionally. Also the waiting for too long. I had to wait for 1 hour before being seated finally for lunch The food was good and the experience was good with friends

Visited the place on a weekend, the place was crowded and had to wait for around thirty minutes. The ambience is really nice. The sea food was very tasty, we have tried pomfret tawa fry. The biryani was ok. Tali was not available on weekends.

We recently visited Mahesh lunch & must say had a great experience. Since we are from mumbai & have visited mahesh lunch in mumbai many times must say the experience here in Bangalore didn’t disappoint us at all. The restaurant is on the 1st floor above crocs store & valet parking is available. But it’s easy to miss the small sign board. The restaurant inside is very spacious with comfortable seating & polite staff. Initially they gave us small bowls of a variety of gravies to taste & decide which flavour we like. We chose the mangalore style gravy. We ordered butter garlic prawn, seer fish tawa fry, batter fried kalamari, pomfret rawa fry, neer dosa & chicken curry. Must say all the starters were simply delicious. The silver pomfret was huge & tasty. Kalamari was super crisp. Butter garlic prawns was flavourful & seer fish was simply yum. What we didn’t like is the chicken pieces in the chicken curry. We asked for boneless pieces but it was just too hard to eat. So maybe next time while ordering we need to get a fish curry & not chicken curry. But anyways that no big deal everything else was good & we had a great time. Also on a weekday (Tuesday) by 1.30pm the restaurant was almost packed & they had tons of orders going out as well. So it’s a busy place, plan accordingly.

A great place for seafood , I ordered fish thali , prawn ghee roast and mutton kadipatta honestly the combination of prawn ghee roast with appam or neer dosa is heavenly but for fish thali if you're really a sea food lover and can easily eat red rice then only you would like it. Definitely it's a costly place to have a good meal.

Today we finally got our chance to visit the "MLH" and it's every bit worth the hype. I did see a few reviews before visiting and i thought they might drop my motivation levels. But if you love seafood and want your food fresh, then this right here is your go to place. The only turn down is the wait time, but they do inform you well in advance. So you can register your name and have a small recess around the place. A lot of showrooms and dessert places around to check. So coming to the menu, they have a wide range of options ranging from ravas, lady fish, mud crab, sea crab, lobster, squid, chicken and mutton. They also have a great cuisine choice from traditional Mahesh specialities to Continental. And their ambience is amazing. We had a Crab Varuthal (Mud Crab), Ravas Masala Tikka, Prawns Kolivadi, Neer Dosa with Malabar prawns and Tender coconut payasam. P.S. : If you order Crab/Fish, you might be deceived by the price (if you compare the menu and the bill, there will be a difference 😀) but the thing is the price is based on weight. When you order they will show you the crab/ fish and it's weight and the price accordingly. So don't be shocked.

Their malabar curry was the highlight for me, but they have the curry taster option which makes it so easy for you to choose!

Highly priced and lack of quality, quantity and taste is it like Wowwwwwwwwww...It is very ordinary which u experience in some small mess. It is better we go and dine in some Kairali outlets when compared here. That will taste like Heaven and even your wallet remains filled.
Prateek
Shitty food and service.. they don’t know what they are serving in veg.. fish is dry probably frozen and then keep out for some time only ... prawns was not cooked.. I mean that’s the easiest thing to cook .. how can one mess it up
B S MANJUNATHA RAO
Worst service.. prawns ghee roast undercooked.. Anjal tawa fry was having a lot of masala which was not roasted as per tawa fry standards
Hemanth Burugupalli
If u order one dish from menu they are going to sell u the expensive dish from that category

My wife and I went for lunch...our 22nd marriage anniversary. Ordered seafood thali and sol kadi....absolutely mind blowing food. Loved all the preparations including prawns curry, makeral curry, mussels and crab curry....these go very well with brown rice. Just the right spice and tanginess. Also packed surmai ghashi, makeral ghashi and crab ghashi....everyone loved it at home as well. Definitely will visit again and highly recommend this place for all seafood lovers. Team is very courteous and takes care of the smallest of things...our server came back after keeping the thali to just change the direction of thali to make it more convenient for me to eat. Loved the gesture!!

It was a great experience and for people who loves seafood it is a must try. Calamari crunch was not good at all it had plenty and plenty of garlic's and it doesn't taste that great because of garlic but main course Malabar lady fish curry was good. Overall place is pretty old but well maintained staff was polite and courteous.

It's a very famous seafood outlet in Mumbai and now they have branch in Bangalore's Richmond road as well. They have a small live counter too choose your sea foods from. We tried tandoori pomfret which was actually big, well cooked & delicious. We also had their Manchow soup which was as usual. We had Prawns ghee roast & bhuna gosht with neer dosa, appam & tandoori roti for main course. Well we simply loved their bhuna gosht which was tender & perfectly cooked. Their prawn ghee roast was a bit okies, but tasted good with neer dosa. Overall a good place with perfectly cooked food. Definitely a goto place for seafood lovers. Their Lobster & crabs from their live counter are definitely in my list to try out next time.

Waiter decided to order the biryani that he chose. We were then being convinced that this was the best. Regular biryani was served instead of hyderabad chicken biryani, despite our pleas. Egg noodles was very oily. Fish fry and tandoori chicken was good. Crab soup was infested with chillis and crab shells

Fried rice had more of salt then meat .... butter garlic crab costed us 2600/- where there was no butter nor any taste ... it tasted like eating tissue paper....

We had our lunch at Mahesh Lunch Home and it was a yummy experience. Food here is delicious and of good quality. They have a wide variety of sea food and the most amazing taste. Would love to visit this place again and again.

We had made up our mind about having prawns – so we ordered couple of plates of Mangalorean Prawns Sukka and Prawns Koliwada for starters.

The highlight of Prawns Sukka (meaning dry) was definitely the quality of the jumbo prawns – fresh and succulent, it was a match made in heaven with the coconut base, complimented with the hint of curry leaves. The curry leaf taste was not overdone which made the prawns carry the flavor of Mangalorean spices in itself. Spicy yes, but not too hot. Taste? – Awesome!

In contrast, Prawns Koliwada reminded me the taste of good old “peyanji” (onion fritters) but with prawns inside it. While I liked it, my other colleagues found it pale compared to the best dish they already had above. To me, this will be a perfect companion to a glass of whiskey on a rainy day.

Interesting thing is the name “Koliwada” sounds bit Maharashtrian, so was wondering if this was a fusion of the worlds. An internet search tells me that this originated from a fisherman’s village named Sion Koliwada near Mumbai settled with North Indian immigrants.

Moving to mains

We were pretty full with the starters itself but we had Chicken Ghee Roast in our minds. This is an another signature Mangalorean dish, much heard off and so we ordered Appam and Lacha Paratha with go with this.

So how best can I describe this? Red hot, full of ghee roasted spices with succulent pieces of chicken in it. And yes, the taste and after-taste of ghee, not over the top but a nice lingering feel. While we had this with both appam and lachha paratha, I will recommend to try with Appam. One plate will suffice for 2-3 people, if supplemented with other dishes.

Pocket pinch

Well, it’s bit on the higher side. For 2 people, you can expect spending up to INR 1200/- without alcohol. Make sure you don’t over order. We overestimated and had one extra plate of Chicken Ghee Roast, almost untouched.

Time for feedback

Let’s forget the pocket pinch for a while.
Taste-wise, this was pretty nice, specially the Prawns Sukka.
Quantity served in a dish was also sufficient.
Staff response was prompt. So I was happy with the experience.
Now considering the pocket pinch and though it’s bit on the higher side, I will still recommend this place to anyone, willing to experiment true-blue Mangalorean cuisine.

Not a very fancy name, but quiet famous in the city for their authentic seafood delicacy. Realised after visiting that celebrities hang out here very often for this lip smacking seafood joint.
I absolutely loved the thali, portion, options, taste, perfect spice & very courteous staff.
Satisfaction level - 💯
4 stars because poor lighting condition inside and conjusted seating on top.
5/5 for food. No complaints.
Must try the neer dosa and chicken ghee roast. Quiet pricy but it's okay once a while to dig in here as the food over powered the cost.

Located on the first floor of the Cears Plaza on Residency Road, Mahesh Lunch Home is another outlet of the legendary one famous for its seafood variants in Mumbai!

I visited this place on a Tuesday evening to have dinner with few of my friends. We started with the crab soup which was a perfect start for the night ahead.
In the seafood starter section, they had numerous options to try but my most favourite were the Bombay duck which I tried for the first time ever and basa tawa.

For the main course, we started with some appam and ghee roast chicken, do try this combination whenever you are here, I bet you are going to love it. Next came the Mallipuram chicken which tasted amazing with the Neer dosa. Then we had the Vijayawada fish curry, pair it with the boiled rice and you won't regret eating it a bit.
I guess this was the first place where I loved the main course more than the starters!

Ending our dinner with the desserts, we had the tender coconut paysam which was chilled and yummy.

A very well known restaurant in Mumbai having several branches across the city in Mumbai. It's been more than half a decade since Mahesh lunch home which brings in with their authentic coastal cuisine of Karnataka in Bengaluru.
🥕🥥🍖🍗🥩🥓🥗🥘🍲🍚🍤🥟🍡🍧🍨🍹🍍🥔🍆

🇦The ambience of the restaurant is good. They are simple and tidy.

🇸Service at the restaurant is good too. They are courteous. The supervisor of the place made sure that there no hassle while serving.

🇫🍽️What is ate ❓
🍹 Sydney sunset ➡️ It was a nice mixture of orange, pineapple and cranberry. The infusion of these tasted good.

🍵 Crab soup ➡️ Crab soup was pretty good. The boiled crab which were generously spread across the soup. I was also mesmerised with the quantity which was served too.

🍥Basa tawa ➡️ The basa tawa was one of the best starters that was provided. It was soft and delicate.

🍗 Chicken ghee roast ➡️ The ever soft chicken ghee roast, that reminds of the fresh aroma of ghee. It is a must when you visit any Mangalorean cuisine restaurant. The chicken ghee roast with the appam was a good combination.

🐙 Squids ➡️ A plate full of well cooked squids, which had the right spices at the right place. They were served in large quantity and felt were value of money.

🍤Prawns ➡️ The skewered prawn fry tasted good. It was loaded with masala and cooked well.

🍛Prawns gassi and Vijayawada curry ➡️ I loved both the curries. The curries were soft and looked tempting.

🍧Tender coconut paysam ➡️ It was a simple dessert prepared with coconut milk. It was tempting even though our stomach was full we always had some space left to taste them.

All in all Mahesh lunch home which is already one of the big names in Mumbai surely tick all the right boxes and provide one of the best coastal cuisine experience. Parking is mostly not an issue since there is ample parking space available inside the complex.

🇷📣 Recommended food
📌Prawns gassi 📌 Vijayawada curry 📌 Tender coconut paysam 📌Prawns 📌 Chicken ghee roast
📌Basa tawa 📌Crab soup

Mahesh Lunch Home serves amazing coastal curries and starters. Situated in Residency Road, this restaurant has dim lights and wooden tables which makes this an apt place to enjoy your dinner or lunch quietly.

This place has stuck to its roots by providing authentic coastal and konkani dishes. The service was good. The staff members were courteous and helpful. The service took a lot of time for everything but the main course was worth the wait.

Coming to the eating experience, we just loved the main course. It was absolutely fantastic!
However, the drinks were not upto the mark and it needs a lot of improvement. The starters were good though and so were some of the desserts.

The dishes I personally liked are:

Starters:
Surmai Tawa Fry
Chicken Lasooni Kebab
Green Chilli Pepper Prawns

Main course:
Prawns Gaasi
Chicken Ghee Roast
Chicken Mallipuram

Desserts:
Gulab Jamun

Food- 4.5/5
Drinks- 3/5
Service- 4/5

OVERALL- 4/5

My verdict: If you love to try authentic cuisines without thinking about the added value (drinks, service, etc.) and just emphasise on food, Mahesh Lunch Home would certainly impress you with their unique set of flavours!

A MUST TRY FOR THEIR FABULOUS MAIN COURSE!

I got to visit this place with a small group of friends. I expected authentic mangalorean konkani cuisine but the set menu here features everything from chinese to tandoori and even andhra. Overall we enjoyed majority of dishes. The staff were friendly and treated us to good food. My picks from the entire menu were chicken curry, fish curry, chicken sukka, kane fish fry and kulfi.

The main course at Mahesh Lunch Home did make amends for where the starters went wrong. However, the overall impression still left quite a bit to be desired. Of course, we were told that the establishment was facing some sourcing problems. Here’s hoping that those problems get over soon, and the restaurant lives up to people’s high expectations.

If you are a seafood lover then a trip to Mahesh lunch house is highly recommended.
They serve true Karnataka flavours and have a wide range of options to choose from.
Went here for dinner with friends and we tried out couple of things, and were not at all disappointed with the food.
First was the crab soup which had well cooked crab with a clear broth which is perfect for this rainy weather. In starters I really liked the Bombay duck and grilled basa. Also the Indian salmon fish tikka was soft succulent and just had the right amount of spices. The skewer prawns were a delight and were not over cooked at all. In main course tried the ineffable combination of neer dosa and chicken ghee roast which was delicious. Next had appam with some prawn gassi, the gassi was a surprising dish for me and totally yummy. Had rice with some vijaywada fish curry which was spicy and really good. Ended on a sweet note with elaneer payasam.
Had a really nice time here and can't wait to visit this place again.
Ambience 4/5
Taste 5/5
Service 5/5
Value for money 4.5/5

MAHESH LUNCH HOME is a Sea Food Speciality Place that is located at Residency Road. knowing that it's a sea food speciality place i was so eager to try out their menu and that led me to try out this place.

The Ambience here is good although this place looks slightly dark in the night. love their seats as for me they were comfortable. the Ambience is good but it's something which is very common that we see everyday.

Service was absolutely lovely and they were quick with serving us up with the dishes. i absolutely have no complaints about the the service as they were actually looking for a customer satisfaction and that's what wins them that brownie point from my end.

Staff Behaviour was lovely as they welcomed us in a very friendly way and guided us towards our tables and spoke very politely with us which is absolutely amazing for me especially.

Coming to the main reason why i was here is their food. for me personally my favourite was their Chicken Ghee Roast, Prawn Gassi with Appam was the main dish of the night followed by Surmai Tawa fry tasted really good too with rich flavours and Chicken Lasooni Kebab. Butter garlic pepper prawns, neer dosa and the desserts were just about average i would say but however Gulab Jamun is the only thing that i loved from their desserts. The tender coconut payasam and Malai kulfi was average along with their Caramel Custard too. but overall it was a good dining experience here at Mahesh Lunch Home.
Their Mocktails were good too but then i would have liked it to be blended even better though.

MY RATING : 4/5

Ambience : 4/5
Service : 5/5
Staff Behaviour : 5/5
Food : 4/5
Drinks : 4/5

that's it for my review guys, hope you all have a great day and do visit the place for some amazing sea food. thank you so much and do follow me here if you like my reviews and explores. also do follow me on Instagram : bangalore_foodtales
take care and bu-bye ❤️👍

As a Vegetarian I was compeletely confused to visit this place and tryout but I must say this,
My friends who were sea food lovers were completely disappointed with the quality of food and service..!!
Waiter wasnt really ready to wait us patiently which turned the whole gang down.
Finally I ordered my Corn Soup which was pretty normal, Paneer Ghee roast was real good.
Mains I ordered some Paneer-Corn-Mushroom Sukka which was good, Thai Green curry I love it with Neer Dosa, but Green curry hd no flavour and taste which was very disappointing..!!
Elaneer payasam was better than Caramel custard..!!
Disappointing .
#SakhiRavoorDiaries

Went for Review lunch here.

Ambience- Small place and slightly congested. with low ceilings. There is TV and music option. Lightings could be better as its little dark.

Pocket friendly- Reasonable for the quantity and quality served

Food- Starting with Mocktail I was thrilled to see Virgin Sangria with a good base and proper sweetness which was chilled to perfection. It had a good amount of diced fruits in it.

Seafood Soup was yum. With a tomato base the prawns and fish chunks were fresh and tender. The soup was overall pretty thick and well seasoned.

Clams Sukka for starter was very tasty with the clams well cooked with coconut and spice base. The dish was a little salty though.

Chicken Ghee Roast had lots of ghee and every bite has the aroma. Chicken was tender and well cooked. The spice and salt level was high though. but the dish was damn tasty with Rotis.

Prawn Ghassi has real juicy and succulent prawns in it which tasted super fresh and was cooked with good spice level. This was served with Appam.

For dessert I tried Tender Coconut Payasam which is a must try here. Tender coconut chunks in cool Basundi like base sprinkled with dry fruits is a delight.

Service- Very polite and well trained staff. Serving and cleaning up was very swift.

Rating- 4.5 as the spice level is a bit uneven for some dishes and the place can use better lightings.

This place has been on my list since I moved to Bangalore. I heard a lot about it for being one of the best seafood specialised place in the city.

Finally had a chance to explore it with some of the best company and conversations. The place is little dull lit on the first floor . The ground floor used to display some live sea animals which they don't anymore.

The staff is fine but would have loved if each and every one esp the one serving could be well aware nd esp courteous towards people. One was plain blunt and did not help at all in ordering.

🔸Sol Kadhi - a combination of Kokam and coconut milk. Not the best one I have had.
🔸The seafood was good in broth but the fish was definitely stale. Being a seafood speciality this is the last thing you could expect in a restaurant.
🔸Kane Rava Fry was a fantastic dish we tried in the starters.
🔸Butter Garlic Prawns was another good option to try with lots of butter.

In mains, I loved the Neer dosa and the Chicken Korma which went quite well with appam as well. The surprising factor of the best dish on menu was a chicken dish in a seafood restaurant.

The Salmon fish tikka was not at all fresh and the marination didn't went well with it.
I personally love seafood but the place didnt went quite well fulfilled it. The dish I was waiting for was the Chicken Ghee Roast but this also didn't impress me that much. The ghee roast masala lacked the spice factor and the right masala one crave for and was more on a tangy side.

In desserts, try the Malai kulfi.

Mahesh lunch home is a very well known restaurant in Mumbai. Famous for its Sea food speciality. Its one of the best Seafood restaurant there. They have extended their roots to Bengaluru and I got a chance recently to visit this place. They serve Mangalorean cuisine. Me being a Vegetarian also Mangalorean, a place known for its sea food varieties was little inconsiderable to visit them. But I usually like to go to these places and check them on taste level as its my native cuisine!

Ambience is pretty decent, We had been there for dinner. Started off with some Sweet corn soup which was nice and normal. Stir Fried Vegetables were really good. Paneer ghee roast was not upto the mark. On other hand my friends enjoyed their Salmon tikka and Butter garlic prawns. What they were going gaga about was Kane Rava fry.

For Mains, We ordered some Neer Dosa with Paneer Babycorn Mushroom Sukka and Thai green curry. Neer Dosa was really good. Sukka was nice. Thai green curry needed some improvement. Chicken Korma was one of the favourite dish amongst my friends.

Desserts were pretty average. One of them stood out was Tender Coconut Payasam. Staff needs to be a lil polite and friendly which will surely add upon their service.

Mahesh lunch home is a beacon for great seafood in Mumbai.

It was started at Mumbai in the late 1970’s and has introduced Mangalore Hi cuisine to Mumbai.

And then on Mumbai has opened its arms and welcomed Mahesh Lunch home with arms wide open.

Old Classic Mumbai based outlet offering some mangalore delicacies in Namma Bengaluru

Ambiance – 3/5

A appreciable décor, dim lighting and seating options are pretty comfortable.

At the entrance one can witness the display of seafood with an array of Lobsters, pomfret, tiger prawns and other delicacies.

It’s a perfect place for casual dine in with a group of friends or family

Food – 3.5/5

What a fabulous night it was amidst company of good friends - conversations and loads of fun.

What I liked the most

Kane rawa fry (lady fish fry tossed along with semolina)

Neer dosa

Chicken korma (suggested by staff) was a pleasant surprise goes well with steamed rice or appam

Butter garlic 🍤 prawns are pretty good. Had a slight over dose of garlic but yes if it can be reduced a bit it would be a classic.

Elneer payasam (Tender coconut payasam) Is simple yet delicious made with a fine balance of coconut milk , some tender coconut slices with a fine balance of sweetness quo which is a popular dessert from Kerala.

What needs to improvised –

Seafood soup – The consistency of soup is good especially the taste, but it fell flat as the fish used it is not fresh and is a bit stale.

Salmon fish tikka – The fish tikka is descent with the flavor’s, but the salmon fish is not fresh again(salmon fish is being refrigerated for a long time) and used, this lead to lack of right melt in mouth tikka taste.

Paneer Ghee roast and Chicken Ghee roast – I was counting on these two but these lacked the right flavor , reason they tad tangy flavour and the rich masala used to dish out the ghee roast is just right, but lacked the flavor of ghee. Was not really to my liking.

Service – 3/5

The staff here are pretty decent (the ones who served us) , but I would urge the management to make sure they work upon by giving them a proper training in terms of the food served, they need to be thoroughly aware of the menu being offered and if patrons have any requests for them.

Again a major setback here the person who managed or took our orders initially was out right blunt lacked customer retention skills or what are so called basics of customer service is.

They need to seriously work on this and make sure it is addressed right away.

But when we spoke to the manager of the place he made sure this is addressed and he personally took care of our table. And then on things were in place.

Would appreciate the positive response from the manager here.

Appeal to team Mahesh Lunch home – Guys if the petty issues with food as mentioned above and a bit of training for the staff are handled the place deserves a huge round of applause.

I have personally visited Mahesh lunch home in Mumbai it is a fabulous place and the main reason the fish is fresh catch and all the sea food dishes are flawless and delicious, service is quick and humble in the Mumbai outlet. So one would expect the same in Bangalore.

We had conveyed the same to manager and he has assured that this will be taken care of

VFM – 3.5/5

The place scores decently in terms of food, the mocktails are pretty good, the prices are pretty descent.

A meal for two would cost up to 1500 with a mocktail.

Will come back sure for my love of seafood and my encounter with a special experience I had in Mumbai, I’m sure you folks can correct things and do a fabulous job.

Who doesn't know about this popular seafood speciality restaurant with it's roots in Mumbai. Time and again I had tried visiting this place but it was not possible until last week when I decided to finally strike this place off of my list along with a bunch of like-minded foodies.
▪️▪️▪️▪️
Located opposite to Bangalore Club, in Residency Road, Mahesh Lunch Home is the typical family restaurant, where you witness the look and feel of restaurants during the 90s time. As soon as you enter the place, on your right, is a wonderful display of all the seafood starting from prawns and lobsters to crabs. The restaurant is at the floor above that and again they have made separate partition for private dining. With good comfortable seating and not so dim lighting, you get a decent dining ambience.
▪️▪️▪️▪️
🔸Our dinner started off with some refreshing solkadi and hot and yum seafood soup. The broth of the soup had a perfect consistency but the fish had a strong pungent taste which definitely needs to be addressed.
🔸Then came the paneer ghee roast for the vegetarians which was quite delicious and salmon tikka for the meat lovers which was tender and yum, but we could feel a extra tangy flavour in the dish.
🔸The next item to relish our taste buds was the butter garlic prawns and this was truly class apart.
🔸After prawns and salmon came the very popular Kane/Lady fish rava fry. This is something which no fish lovers should miss at this place. It was downright delectable.
▪️▪️▪️▪️
Coming to the main course, we had a delightful affair. We had rice, appam, neer dosa, chicken korma, vijaywada fish curry, chicken ghee roast and prawns gassi.
The combination of appam with prawns gassi and neer dosa with chicken korma was simply the best. Even the rice went well with the korma. That was one of the best chicken korma I have had till now.
The Vijaywada fish curry was like a regular fish curry but a tad bit spicy. Chicken ghee roast didn't live upto its expectation and could have been much better.
▪️▪️▪️▪️
From the desserts, we tried the tender coconut payasam and malai kulfi. The payasam was okay but the consistency could have been better. Malai kulfi was again quite average.
▪️▪️▪️▪️
Being an expert in serving seafood specialities over the years, I believe they need to focus a bit more on the taste and they will do just fine.
Staff needs to be bit more friendly and that will improve the service for sure.

I have stayed for around 8 years in Bombay and Mahesh Lunch Home is one of the best places there serving sea food. So, I was pretty happy to know that MLH has branches in Bangalore as well. I went there a couple of days back for dinner and I was satisfied with my visit.

From the dishes I tried the followings are the must haves-
Surmai Tawa Fry
Chicken Lasooni Kebab
Butter Garlic Pepper Prawns
Mangalorean Gassi Prawns with Appam
Chicken Ghee Roast with Neer Dosa

Finished off the meal with Gulab Jamun & Tender Coconut Payasam.

If you are from Mumbai, then this brand doesn't need an introduction. Mahesh lunch home has entrenched it's reputation as one of the best seafood restaurants in the city of Mumbai. Now it has extended its business to Bengaluru with a spacious outlet located near Richmond circle.

This restaurant has pretty good seating capacity with fine dining ambiance. I was there with a group of food admirers to relish their seafood. I have started my meal with a chicken soup. The consistency of the soup was thick with sufficient amount of chicken pieces and tasted absolutely delicious. Paneer tikka looked very spicy but tasted normal. I liked the taste of butter garlic prawns but garlic was a bit more. Salmon tikka was on the the starters that you must try. Salmon was cooked to perfection with adequate amount of masala and tasted delectable.

Vijayawada curry is something I have never tried before. But that's like any other normal fish curry with a bit of extra spice. Thai green curry wasn't upto the mark tasted pretty average. Appam tasted good with all the gravies on the table especially with chicken kurma which is a top notch . Ghee roast chicken is something I didn't like as it lacked the flavour of ghee.

Coming to desserts, kulfi was again just average. Tender coconut payasam was really good and a must try. The behaviour of staff was not really polite. Perhaps, management should train their staff on how to behave with customers.

I have been to Mahesh lunch home in Maharashtra few times & has a great experience with the sea-food in particular. We recently visited Mahesh Lunch home Residency road & I must say it was one of the worst experience we ever had, it was an expensive experiment for sure. To give credit where its due the sea food shown to us appeared fresh, however all the 4 dishes served were below par & not worthy of the brand they claim. One of the worst preparations for sure, even roadside eatery might do a better job. I highly recommend the management team & chef there to visit any of the branches in Maharashtra & experience what sea food should be prepared! Please do not waste your time & money visiting this Branch, it will be a huge disappointment.

Mahesh Lunch Home, a casual dining restaurant in Residency Road, Bangalore is one of the few food outlets which serves Table D'hote menu.

After all, as they say, "The EYES that Eats first".

Had a satisfying meal for the dinner ❤️
For a seafood lover like me, this is the place you can count on. They have the huge variety of seafood.
I ordered crab soup which was absolutely yum.
From starters, the butter garlic prawns and the fish was a total WIN.
In main course, I had chicken ghee roast and prawn gassi. Prawn gassi was actually the highlight of my meal. Loved it!
Ended my delightful meal with a luscious gulab jamun.
Mahesh Lunch Home is well known for their Sea Food Delicacies and their only branch in Bangalore lives up to it's expectations. The Prawns Mulligatawny Soup, the Butter Garlic Prawns, The Chicken Ghee Roast and Prawns Gassi were all very tasty. The Malai Kulfi, Gulab Jamun and the Tender Coconut Payasam were all really tasty.

Wanted to visit this place since a long time. So finally when we did, it was a wonderful experience of eating fresh seafood. As you enter the place, there are crabs tied up and put in a small cage like thing. The ambience is pleasant. The crab soup wasn't that great though. However, the neer dosa, crab curry, garlic and butter prawns, the tawa fried prawns were absolutely scrumptious. It's quite expensive but worth it.

Its been so long that i didn't tried any seafood speciality restaurant.Visited here last week with my friend. We got a warm welcome from the Management ,especially Anand took care during our visit.Ambiance is good and dim lighting is used in some places.

Started with Seafood combination soup ,which is prepared using fish and prawns. It was a great start.Next we tried Basa Fish Fry,well fried basa fish after a long time..Its a must try here.We tried Chicken Ghee Roast and it could have been little more better .Then we moved to appam & vijayawada fish curry(pomfret) again nothing much to say it was well cooked one ,that taste was relishing. Neer dosa tried with Mallipuram Chicken ,the best i tried here.Chicken semi gravy prepared using coconut water and spices. It was so heavy so we ended up with Gulab Jamun .

It was a good experience and had good seadfood here after longtime.Good place for seafood lovers.

Ambience:5/5
Food:4.5/5
Service:5/5
VFM:4/5
Are you a Sea food lover?
Cause I am!
And Mahesh Lunch home is the must visit place for sea food.
Mahesh lunch home serves some amazing coastal dishes including Sea food and chicken .But they are more known for their Mangalorean dishes like their fish curry, chicken ghee roast and chicken Sukka.
This place situated in the heart of the city, they have a two floors seatings arrangement and they even have a setup for a close group or a more private dining. The ambience will give you the Mangalorean bar and restaurant vibes, with dim lighting.
Coming to the food, started with a crab meat soup and the taste is delicious with good quantity of meat. Well, when you come to this type of places you won’t miss trying prawns and fish. The butter garlic prawns was scrumptious and I love the Lady fish rava fry.
Next we had chicken sukka which is again a most famous Mangalorean dish, I also can’t resist trying the chicken ghee roast with neer dosa which is a perfect combination and it taste divine.
Guys, please don’t miss trying the Vijaywada Fish curry with boil rice, the fish curry is just deliciously delectable. I so love love love the fish curry which was perfectly made and the masala was grind finely. I can vouched that this was one of the best Fish curry i had!
I can’t wait to go back and eat the fish curry with boil rice.
In desserts, I so enjoyed their in house tender coconut payasam. The kulfi was good too.
Beverages:the sol kadi drink was good and sydney sunset was refreshing.
The staff are super friendly and nice.

Great food and variety! Although this is a seafood restaurant which is amazing by itself, the chicken ghee roast is pretty good, which is good for non seafood eaters!

Mahesh Lunch Home- a nostalgia among a fiercely loyal Clientele in the City. Has its roots back from 1977 where it is perhaps one of the place to go to have the Best In Class Sea Food.

The ambience resembles a classic place which has stood against the change of time. The place is dimly lit with a seating capacity of around 50 pax at full capacity.

The Chef here is a asset to the restaurant and he takes pride in whipping up some of the best dishes with great pride and passion. Experience defines a Class sometimes.Chef... would definitely want to meet you in person.

The Service is ONE MAJOR HICCUP here with the Servers clueless, don’t understand Basic English/Request of the patrons. They are in their own fantasy world. A absolute dampener to this wonderful place.

The Soup-

1.Prawns Mulligatiwany Soup-Perhaps the best have tried of late

The Starters-

1.Pomfret Roasted Fish - Fresh and done to Perfection
2.Prawn Butter Garlic- finger licking delicious
3.Roasted Chicken Chilli- Glad we tried . Perfectly done with tender chicken and right ingredients
4.Tandoori Crab- Oh My Food!!(OMF).... no words to describe. The dish speaks volumes about the Chefs experience... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The MainCourse

1.Chicken & Neer Dosa- a combination which can never go wrong
2.Mangaloreon Fish Curry/Gassi with Appam- The Appam served was not hot but Fish Curry was delicious
3.Steamed Rice- went well with the Fish Curry

Desserts

1.Malai Kulfi
2.Tender Coconut Payasam
3.Gulab Jamun
4.Caramel Custard

A perfect way to end your day and carry the Sweet memories home of a wonderful evening

Reservations MANDATORY

A meal for 2 would cost around Rs 1500/- to Rs 2000/- Both Cards and Cash accepted.

Restrooms well maintained

Parking for 2 wheelers available and not sure about 4 wheelers

If SERIOUS EFFORTS can be made in getting the SERVICE UPTO THE MARK...the place can also attract the younger generation too.

Mahesh Lunch home is a famous restaurant based out of Mumbai. They came to Bangalore a couple of years ago. I had the opportunity to try their food today. There was a special menu running which I opted for.

Coming to the place and ambience, it's a nice cozy place that has 2 levels. In total can accommodate about 120 people. They have dim lights and short roofs. Well air conditioned.

I started with a drink called the sun set from their mocktail menu, also tired their Sol Kadi which is a Kokum based drink. Both were tasty and timely for us. We also had their crab soup and the mixed sea food soup. Their sea food soup is something which you must try.
In starters we tried the Prawn Butter garlic, the chicken Sukka, the Salmon tikka and the Kane rava fry. All four were decent in taste, lacked a little spice. But the texture and colour looked authentic.

For the main course, we ordered the chicken ghee roast that is truly Mangalorean. This along with then Neer Dosa was great. A match made in heaven..
Post this we had their chicken korma served with Apam, again a lovely combination. These together were sooo good. Cant describe the taste in words.
Lastly in the main course the chef made his Vijaywada special sear fish curry and served with boiled rice. *if I ever pass that side, I am stopping just for this combination. It was Yumm. Out of this world. We were too full to have more. But If we could we would have licked the bowl.

For desserts, we tried their Gulab Jamun, the coconut payasam and the Malai Kulfi. All three were good.
In terms of pricing, i do feel they are expensive. However given the location they are in, rents are high.

Follow us in Instagram: @Platewithflavours
🍕🌭🥪
@zomatoin : https://zoma.to/u/30261415
Also on Google.
🌮🌯🥙🥚🥚🍳🥘🍲
#Platewithflavours #foodblogfeed #foods #foodblogging #foodblogger #foodtasting #foody #foodphotography #foodlovers #foodinbangalore #foodpic #foodforfoodies #foodinspiration #foodie #s8 #samsung #zomato #nammabengaluru #fbab #foodgasm #foodiesofinstagram #bangalorelife #foodpornography #influencer #indianfoodblogger #bangalorefoodblogger #bangalore #bangalorefood #bangalorefoodiesclub #bangalorefoodbloggers
Mahesh Lunch home is a casual dining restaurant located in Residency Road, Bangalore. I recently visited there for dinner along with my friend. The experience was actually a bit mixed. The moment we entered Mahesh Lunch Home, we were welcomed and escorted to our seats. We ordered mocktails (Margarita and Pacific sunset) which came out pretty well.
The taste and appearance was excellent. However, the garnishing could have been better. For instance, they should have de-seeded the cherries and lemon before using it as garnish.

Soon after the mocktails, we were served with the Seafood Soup and the Manchow Soup. The Manchow soup was served with crispy noodles. Together with the soup it enhanced the experience. The Seafood soup was full with prawns and fishes which excelled its taste to a whole new level. The quantity of the soups was pretty decent. Although it lacked any garnish, the taste was spectacular.

Next came the appetizers. We had ordered Salmon Tikka and Raseela Kebabs. Once more, we couldn't find any garnishing in the Salmon Tikka and The Raseela Kebabs were garnished with processed cheese. Anyways, these shortcomings were successfully overcome when we tasted the appetizers. both the Salmon Tikka and Raseela Kebabs blew our mind. The juiciness coupled with the flavor was simply amazing. :)

It was time for the main course. We ordered Chicken Ghee roast and Prawn Gassi. Although Prawn Gassi was good in taste, I was a bit disappointed with chicken ghee roast, which was a bit over cooked and had no flavour of ghee. For, both the main courses we ordered Rice and Neer Dosa as sides. Our stomachs were almost full. We did leave a little space for desserts. We ordered Coconut Payasam which was good :)

We went there for dinner. Must visit place for authentic coastal cuisine. We had the seafood combination soup. Spicy and good esp in the monsoons. For starters we had prawns masala fry, chicken roast and anjal fish in mangalore style masala. We really liked the prawns. Chicken roast and fish could have been better. The fish was not very fresh.
For main course we had neer dosa, appam with fish masala fry. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
I would recommend this place for all seafood lovers.Cheers!

This place was in my bucket list for so long and finally I visited this place for dinner with a friend. This place is a must try if you love seafood. The ambience is simple and cozy and feel like homely.

They have quite an elaborated menu with different style of preparation. For starters, we ordered Surmai Rava fry - fish was fresh, very nicely prepared and tasted delicious. The star item was Tandoori Crabs, the spices had reached till the end, and every part was delicious. Even Tandoori pomfret were sumptuous. All the meat were fresh, as you could taste the freshness in each dish. If you like prawns, you can try their butter garlic prawns which were buttery & mild in taste.

In main course, we ordered Surmai Malabar Curry. It was little sweet in taste but the overall taste was really good and went really well with appam. We also ordered chicken curry, the curry was very good in taste but chicken pieces were little dry for me. Prawns ghee roast looked tempting but it had little bitterness in the taste.

In the dessert, their caramel custard is a must try. The sweetness was balanced and caramelization was beautifully done. You can even try Tender Coconut Paysam, it was good.

Service is little slow as some of the dishes takes more time to get ready, but my overall experience with the food was amazing and will surely go again when I crave for some lip smacking sea foods.

Mahesh Lunch Home is possibly one of the oldest seafood restaurant chains in the country. Their first outlet dates back to 1977 in Mumbai. Over the years they have expanded to Pune, Bangalore and even Dubai.

We happened to visit this place few days back for dinner. They have a huge selection and especially the curry section in the main course looked very interesting. We started off with soups and appestisers before moving on to the mains. I usually avoid soups but the manager insisted we try their house special SEAFOOD COMBINATION SOUP & PRAWNS TOM YUM. Must say, it was a good decision, both the soups were extremely comforting and perfect for the rainy weather. The seafood soup had generous amount of prawns, the flavours of chillie and garlic were a treat for the pallate.

Moving on to the appetisers, we pretty much covered everything - prawns, crab, squid et al. We tried the SQUID GARLIC, BOMBIL FRY, SURMAI TAWA FRY, PRAWNS CHILI GARLIC, CORIANDER CRABMEAT, SQUID SUKKAH & CHICKEN GHEE ROAST. The Surmai tawa try, Bombay Duck Fry and Crab would be the highlight of our meal. The prawns were also quite appetising. Chilli and garlic are like a match made in heaven. The sukkah was a bit of a letdown, squid was a bit chewy and it felt like the masala wasn't properly infused within the squid. The ghee roast was a bit bitter for my liking. The quality of chicken was great though.
After a round of fresh lime soda we moved gingerly towards the mains.

Main course was amazing, we loved almost everything - FISH MALLIPURAM, MANGALOREAN FISH CURRY, VIJAYAWADA BALTI FISH with Boiled Rice and Appam.
What I have realised is fish, prawns, crab are their forte and especially the curries. I have recently been to Mangalore and let me tell you that their fish curry is absolutely authentic. Vijaywada Curry was a lil bit spicy. The curry portions are huge and can be easily shared by 3 people.

For desserts we tried the CARAMEL CUSTARD, TENDER COCONUT PAYASAM & GULAB JAMUN. Would say Caramel custard was the best of the lot. Coconut Payasam was too watery for my liking.

Overall, a nice place to satiate your seafood cravings. Stick to the fish, crab, prawns and curries and I am sure you wouldn't be disappointed.

Bon Appetit :)

With a rich heritage in the makings of an unparalleled seafood offering, Mahesh Lunch Home offers traditional and authentic Mangalorean cuisine. Located on the busy streets of Residency Road, this popular eatery boasts of a loyal clientele from the beginning of time. Being ardent seafood lovers, my friend and I found ourselves here on a week night to try out the scrumptious food served at MLH. The ambience is quite low key and perfect for family dine-ins as the focus is purely on flavour and no unnecessary frills.

We kick started the meal with a couple of mocktails namely, Mocka Rita and Lava Melt. Both the beverages were quite tasteful, the former was more of a thick sorbet lush with lime and blue curaçao while the latter resembled the likes of strawberry yoghurt/crush.

Taking a look at the food portion of the evening -

Seafood Combination Soup - A warm and light broth consisting of minced seafood stirred in a chilli garlic stock. Comfort food at its best especially to complement the beautiful monsoon season.

Chicken Ghee Roast - A rich thick vibrant red semi gravy appetiser with succulent chicken pieces cooked to perfection. Pick any accompaniment of your choice and this becomes a meal by itself.

Surmai Tawa Fry - Kingfish marinated in southern spices. tawa fried and served on a banana leaf along with pickled onions. Along with this other condiments were also provided such as lime, pickle and mint chutney. The fish was delicious but a tad overcooked due to which there was a certain amount of dryness present within. But, a must try dish at MLH!

Basa Mallipuram - A coconut based gravy with a choice of one’s protein. My choice was the Bass fish which had a soft and melt in the mouth texture. However, the entire dish was heavily laced with coconut oil which can be quite overpowering especially for the ones who don’t have an acquired taste bud for the same. This particular dish can be open to interpretation based on one’s palate!

Mangalorean Gassi (Prawns) - The second main for the night was a silky smooth Mangalorean delicacy with king prawns as my choice of seafood. This can be consumed with a side of pretty much anything starting from rice to parantha. We chose the staple options of Neer Dosa and Appam. The Appam certainly deserves a mention here as one of the best ones I have tried off late.

I am not a big fan of Indian desserts and hence settled for in-house recommendations - Tender Coconut Payasam and Caramel Custard. Honestly, the desserts can be skipped here as they pretty average. Maybe for someone who would be more inclined towards Indian preparation, it would be a lot more appreciable. But I would suggest to stick to the strength of the place which is seafood and that is unquestionable!

Overall, MLH is a great restaurant to indulge in some delicious coastal cuisine that is truly memorable. The pricing is quite steep but worth the money considering the portion size. The service is at a good pace while the staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely recommended for all seafood lovers!

We went to Mahesh lunch home on a week night, and had a mixed experience with the food and the ambience. For one, the place seemed a little cooped up with lack of proper lighting and narrow pathways. Probably a lack of proper ventilation made the place warmer than usual.
We ordered 3 beverages which, in my opinion, were the forte of the evening. The Mock Rita had a freshness in its essence and I recommend it to all visiting the place.
For starters we had the seafood combination soup and the Prawns Tom-yam soup. In terms of proportion, the servings were quite filling and delectable to the palate. Tom-yam had a tangy flavor to it which I enjoyed. The warmth in its right proportion was again a plus to the soups.
Starters looked quite promising so we ordered a whole bunch of them. The chicken ghee roast was bitter in taste and the squid garlic was extremely chewy. On the bright side, the Bombay duck was cooked to perfection, and the crabs were scrumptious as well. Chicken haseena kabab was also tasty, albeit a bit too heavy in terms of a starter.
For the main course, the Balti fish and Rice had a quaint homely flavor, and brought out the essence of food served in a small hut beside the sea in its true sense. Fish mallipuram was fine too. As accompaniments, both Appam and Neer Dosa are to go for.
Desserts were something in the menu that I enjoyed the least. The gulab jamun, tender coconut payasam and caramel custard all lacked the overpowering flavors and turned out to be a bland.
Overall, the place is decent and quite old, so they know their art. With a little finesse, the place can get much better. I surely would give this place another try.

Mahesh lunch home, located in Residency road houses a number of scrumptious Mangalorian cuisines. The ambience was honestly a little bland, as the sitting area gave an impression of the coopes of a train. The music too did not quite blend with the theme of the restaurant. Furthermore, the arrangement of the place made it seem quite congested.

We went for a casual dinner.. 3 of us.

For appetizers, we ordered seafood combination soup and the Prawns tom-yam soup. The servings were in good proportion. We liked the Prawn tom-yam soup better because of its distinctive tangy taste. sea food combination was also quite satiating ...

The beverages were quite refreshing , and although a little filling, was one of the Fortes of the restaurant.

For starters, we had the chicken ghee roast, chicken haseena kabab, squid ring garlic, Bombay duck, chilly coriander prawn, lemon coriander crab. The chicken ghee roast was slightly bitter in taste and could have been better. The kabab was a little too heavy in terms of it being a starter. The Prawns were doughy and tasteless, and the squids were chewey. Bombay duck was cooked well, and the crabs were quite delectable.

we had Neer dosa, appam and brown rice as accompaniment.. balti fish vijayvada style, fish mallipuram. The rice and balti fish was a welcoming delight in combination, and gave a homely and satiating feel to the taste buds.

For desserts, we had the gulab jamun, tender coconut payasam, and caramel custard. Desserts were one of the least appealing part of the menu, and not worth it at all.

Overall, we had a decent experience .. will definitely give it a another shot for more.

Cheers !!! .

This is the best place for sea food in Bangalore. Though it is priced on a higher end I feel that it is worth it. The service is great, ambience is elegant, the taste of the food is so yummy that you get to enjoy every bit of the food.
Crab ghee roast, crab green chilli butter garlic, sea food thali, neer dosa are all a must try.

I was a regular customer and a big Fan of Mahesh since 2010. 2014 i moved out of India, and came back home(Bangalore) 2019. Went to have lunch with family on 7th July 2019.
We ordered Masala Surmai and Tawa fry Surmai, both of them had the same spice mix and tasted the same. Plus, the Masala Colour was on our fingers until evening. We also ordered Tiger Prawns Charmullah, I have no idea why it was sweet. It’s suppose to be a tandoori kabab style recipe.
For main course we ordered Steamed Rice and Salmon Lajawab, and to surprise us the curry had the same Masala Spice Mix as the starters. And also the rice wasn’t cooked well enough as well.
I should also highlight here that the Fish quality is still amazing, juicy, fresh and soft.
We were highly disappointed with the food Quality and the preparation methods have become really bad. We enquired if the chef changed, they seemed to not to know the answer. We were very unhappy customers today, and left the restaurant with half empty stomach.

Having visited the Mumbai outlets numerous times and this one last year, we went here last night for dinner. It was a shame to see how bad management has ruined one of my favourite places. The waiter Naveen is more of a con man and less of a waiter. We wanted to have crabs and he showed us a live crab and casually flashed the 3693 Rs per crab sticker for exactly 2 seconds. Before we could realize what had happened he was gone. The food quality has also fallen drastically. The sea crabs in butter pepper garlic had a weird soggy potato or cheese batter on it we didn't care for at all. Give us a proper crunchy batter and we would be happy. The chicken chettinaad and mangalorean mutton sukka gravy was super delicious but the cooking of the meat sucked big time. The chicken was battered and deep fried extremely unnecessarily and the mutton was tough and chewy. Your prices are one thing, your poor service is another and the horrible food made for an experience I will never repeat and recommend every single person I know to stay away. Ohh and did I mention there is a service charge on the bill for the wonderful service for Conman Naveen??? Thanks for ruining our Saturday night.

The Lunch Home is a place my friends and me had been waiting to go to since long time now. The place is old and very popular for sea food.
We ordered sea food thali along with some prawn fry and butter milk. They do have options of chicken/mutton thali as well. The thali as you can see in the pic was great to eyes, nose and tounge.
I am from North of India, so too have such a thali is always delight and refreshing. The quantity and quality was superb. The staff was very helpful in making the choice. Will visit soon again.

I’ve been to their Mumbai restaurant and enjoyed the Crabs served there during the Crab Festival, always wanted to try the Bangalore one, it was totally worth the effort taken to reach this place inspite of the heavy rain that evening. The seafood thali was simply amaaazing, the crab was so buttery and delicious, the mackerel fry, clams, prawns were worth the money paid for, however I didn’t like the fish curry served in the thali, everything except that is a must try at this wonderful place! Thanks for giving us good food! Had a wonderful experience!

This stands true to its legacy. Just that the prices for fish could be little true to their sizes. I had ordered a regular pomfret. Was super tasty.

One of the best sea food thali I have had, it’s super tasty and crisp on pocket! If they would serve more fresh tender coconut water, it would be much more awesome!!

Well this this kind of 2.5 star rating. Lets me tell all the good parts excellent service and very clean and hygiene place.

Now the disappointing part is food

Boneless pepper crab dish, we went here on Sunday at 3pm they told us there is no crab but they have a boneless crab dish we ordered it and the taste did not have any flavor of crab it just like some bread powder with little chuncks of crab hear and there, to add to the disappointed it was 2000 bucks which we left on the table we couldn't eat it.

Jumbo prawn sukka, the masala was really good just the prawn needed needed a proper knife to cut it butter knife couldn't do the job it was so hard.

Neer dosa was more like powder dosa and Appam was more like set dosa.

Stay away from biryani unless you want to eat jeera rice with chicken.

Tava anjal fish fry and chicken gravy for the dosa were very good yes we did manage to find some good dishes at the restaurant too 😊.

Summary just never order boneless crab, Appam or biryani you will be fine just stick to basic seafood dishes.

Good quality food, calm ambience. Overall a very good experience. Probably one of the best places to experience good sea food in and around residency road. Must visit

Being a Goan and always craving for seafood away from home, this place did not fail to satisfy us.
We had their seafood thali which pretty much satisfied our taste buds.
They served crab sukha, clams, mackerel curry and rava fried kingfish all of which was delicious.
Highly recommend this place for seafood lovers.

Heard a lot about this from various people, but it was utter disappointment.
If you've been to the one in Bombay. I would suggest you avoid this one.
The ambience is dark and gloomy, the food was disappointing and the service is the worst.
I wouldn't recommend it.

Visited this place on a Saturday afternoon. I would have rated 3.5 but app doesn't let to do so. Honestly the food was just OK in comparison to the price you have to pay for and other seafood restaurants in Bangalore. Tawa fry pomfret (whole) costed us Rs 2500! Bombay duck fry was good. Prawns in butter pepper garlic sauce was fresh.
Customer service was good. Waiters were cautious and hinted us of all the unavailable dishes before we placed our orders.
Ambience is good. Loved the drinks (Sole Kadi in particular)!

I have tried their Mumbai outlet nd always wanted to give this one a try... Being lil pricey was little reluctant to go.. but when saw the thali rates i had to try it... Super paisa vasool thali...crabs.. prawns.. surmai.. mackerel and shell fish... All in one plate... Super funnn
Kanika Bhalla
Had tawa fried basa Mangalore style! It was so amazing that I wanted to drop the cutlery and eat with my hands just so that I can lick them thereafter! Must must try!

Ambience is nothing to be proud of, but the service and the food totally make up for it!

The ambience of the restaurant is good. The quality and taste of sea food is pretty good. There is valet parking and the staff provide good service.
I had been with my family there and ordered the following dishes:
- Chicken ghee roast : 5/5
- Fish 65 : 3/5
- Neer dose : 3/5
- Aapam : 3/5
- Chicken Maharaja : 4/5
- Chicken biriyani : 2/5
- Brownie with vanila 5/5

While the quality of seafood is definitely great, the service needs to be improved a lot. Not once but twice we went all the way down to the restaurant to be told all the signatures food items are not there and we had to settle with whatever they were offering. That, after all the time we take to come to a decision and then they even write down the orders. Only to come back and say that its not available.

I would give this restaurant 10 out of 5 stars of ever possible. I had heard so much about this restaurant but finally managed to visit here for lunch. This place is perfect for fish and seafood lovers. I have never seen a menu having such an exhaustive choice of sea food. There also food items for non-seafood lovers and vegetarians. The crabs and the lobsters I would say would be there special. There are live crabs on display.

I would definitely go here another day.

Seafood lovers ? This is the place to be . Lots of variety and delicacies with unbelievable range of fishes. Had solkadi, surmai, prawns, veg and non veg Thali. Though a bit in a higher price range still it’s worth every bit of it . There is valet parking available too .

We decided to visit Mahesh Lunch Home for dinner last night. We ordered the Squid garlic pepper fry which wasn’t as good as I expected. The squid wasn’t fresh and was slightly under cooked. We ordered the Clam Sukka which was delicious along with Neer Dosas. Their pomfret fry was also very good and we finished our meal with Traditional Mangalorean fish curry. A must visit for good old Mangalorean food.

Had heard a lot about this place and being a fish person this was one of the bucket list. The food is decent but little heavy for the pocket. Had ordered fish thal, squid butter gsrlic, solkadhi and fish masala fry. Good for one time visit.

Heaven for sea food lover. It serves fresh and authentic sea food. Prawn biryani and Kokum drink are my favourite here. Nice ambiance and friendly staff makes experience even better.

We love this place and always make it a point to drop in when we are in the area. Their seafood is mindlessly fabulous and the services are superb. They are happy to recommend great dishes to you as per your requirements. This is definitely a non-vegetarian's paradise.

Worst experience at mahesh lunch home in Bangalore. The staff is untrained to serve a 3500 rs lobster - wasted half of it while serving it. Even though I ordered a 1500 rs fish dish without bones - they served me one with bones and the excuse was it is already made. Never again.

Mansa
We ordered the the fish and chicken thali with unlimited rice. The first serving was the regular steam rice but there after we were served basmati steam rice which does not go well with curries. We were told the rice is over.
Chicken was over overover cooked
We ordered for prawns ghee roast (cost-₹800) for just 6 mid sized prawns dipped in alot of semi cooked paste. disappointed with the food quality for the high price paid. I asked them for the feedback survey and they didn't give me anything to write. They just ignored it and gave the bill.
Overall very unsatisfied experience.
I wouldn't go here again and wouldn't recommend this place.

The best place for a variety of sea food. The sea food thali is the most famous one. It is very flavouful. While you are there, do not forget to try their other seafood delicacies

Pathetic food. Ordered kulcha and egg curry. Was tasteless. Not good at all. Now they have lost it. Very bad experience. Was better before. Wouldn’t recommend going there.

I had been to this place for a team lunch with my whole team, the ambience is amazing with small small room kind of setup for most of the tables giving the visitor a lot privacy, which is a good thing.

We ordered various items out of which the Paneer items were really good and rest of the starters were okayish.
The Masala for all the starters were almost the same.

The non-veg is very famous in this restaurant for the seafood varieties that they offer.
Over all a good place to have non-veg but it has the same okayish taste for the veg delicacies.
They took a lot of time to serve since the order was huge.

Ambience - 4/5
Taste - 3/5
Pricing - 4/5

This is my first visit today to this restaurant. There is valet parking.. The ambience is ok but could have been little lit up.. staff are fine and polite. Coming to food, we ordered Surmai Tawa fry .. each cost Rs. 400/- but piece is good and tasty. Next item was Tandoori Pomfret which starts from Rs 900/-. I think this was rip off and OK. OK. One can give a miss. Prawn Vijayawada curry was good, spicy and quantity was adequate. Chicken Sukka is another item one can try.. tasty and decent quantity. I ordered boiled rice to go with the Prawn curry.. was disappointed as the boiled rice was completely over cooked and soggy and not worth 100/-. They should look into this for right consistency. We tried Neer Dosa and Appam. They were good. So, all in all, good restaurant for Sea food but I guess there are enough competition close by like Karavali Gateway where the food is fantastic.

One of my favorites sea food joints. The best I had was chilly rawas, followed by crab masala fry, prawns lemon butter garlic...and then everything else...if in the mood to have a little bit of everything, go for the sea food thaali..have to try their lobsters next time.
Ambience is good, service is better and the food is excellent.

Any one said Seafood!? ☺

Food - 5/5
Ambience - 4/5
Service - 4/5
Parking-4/5

So yes, this is the place to go for seafood. Just lovely, keep in mind prices on the higher side. But completely worth it to have good food once in a while.

I would suggest to avoid having the chicken dishes as these guys specialize in seafood.

-The fish thali was just splendid.
-Chicken ghee roast
-appam
-kingfish masala fry
-Kane koliwada
-Chicken curry

All of the the seafood dishes were just cooked to perfection.

They need to step up on the service and delivery speed, they take approx 20-30 mins for each order, so make sure you place all your orders in the start.

Do visit!

Absolutely not satisfied with it. I didn't had so awful lobster before. Lobster lover keeps away sadly.

I went with my wife back in 2017, ambiance was nice, great place, but staffs seemed to be Lil goofy. Food was OK. Ok. The complete head was missing.
We went to goa again back in 2018 Oct. We had a wonderful time at Rock Lobster in ARAMBOL Beach.. Good nice n big sized lobsters, with so much of flesh.

Mahesh Lunch is just not up to the mark.
