Review Brahmins Thatte Idly - Bengaluru

Chaithra Ganesh
The food is really tasty.. Only the negative is that there is no space even to keep plate and eat.. We have to stand and hold the plate in hand and eat.. They can keep some chairs to sit just like other small hotels..
Vijayendra TG
It’s thr original bhramins cafe… very tasty.. no place to sit or no service available.. but either take a parcel or stand and have there.. loved it

Ah, the classic Thatte Idlis. How can you go wrong with this. As soft Idlis as it can get and you will not be disappointed. You can just expect quality here and you will get it. Tip : Please go there as early as possible when it opens. If you reach late, highly likely you'll end up not getting some things like the sambar or vadas. Chutneys were a bit on the proper spicy side, so be advised. Cons that can be improved (and why I could not give a 5 star rating) : No place for sitting at all, understaffed store - just 2 people having to work on loads of orders, and hence the delay in serving.

Thatte Idli with special chutney containing urud Dal tastes heaven. If you are looking for tasty and affordable place to eat, visit here and you will not be disappointed.

Very good place if you like South Indian especially Idlis. The place is very small so place available for eating isn't much. Most probably you will have to stand and eat. This small eatery is located on the 80 feet road close to the masjid. Food is nice and tasty. Must try once kind of place.
PURUSHOTTHAMA H T
soft idli and spicy Chatni good combination at rain time must try.
Abhishek Vishnu Ramesh
The Idly's were soft and tasty. The dishes are very economically priced as well. Only drawback I found was the Vada was cold and a little soggy, which might have been been due to the fact that it was made earlier. But, still a satisfying breakfast. Would certainly recommend.

Am a big fan of Brahmins taste just love all their food menu which has the authentic taste of culture. But while writing this review just got watery in mouth for the taste of puliyogere dish #Fav
Vinod Kannamparambath
Always had fresh hot idli.. sometimes waiting time is more if large parcel order comes to their outlet

Good food and nice taste . especially the quality is phenomenal.I recommend this place for vegetarians.

Clean and tidy little south Indian food place with good number of tasty breakfast options for a quick food. They are available in online food delivery platforms also but they charge around 67% more for the same food online, so I would suggest to visit or takeaway from the place instead of online order which is very expensive for the same food. It is a fast food place so there is no sit and dine option, only one can have food standing in front of the place.
pankaj kumar
They are among the best for soft idli. Please avoid going in the mid afternoon. As, the stock gets over they will serve with green chutney which was just okay. 4 star for not having sambar. People it's my own review but if you're around, indulge yourself in scrumptious south indian breakfast. I always have when I pass-over. Thanks for keeping the brand name.

Although staff are not that friendly. Everything else is nice. Tasty food. Quick service. Everything hot and fresh. Located on the main road. Easily visible and easily accessible. They accept even Paytm, Two wheeler can be parked at front but no four wheeler parking place. Need to park far away.
Rakesh maali
Taste wise it's the best around the locality loved the chatni and poliyigere, idli size is quite small compared to what they charge. Kesari bath was also good.
Knvishwas
1 Idli 35 Rs, + Delivery charge in Zomato , too much, if we have there, 1 Idli 20 Rs, we understand Delivery charge
Ravichandra Kandula
Inexpensive, great taste

I had ordered idly and vada. Vada was like sticking rotten and chutney had spoiled coving smell. I recommend not to order here. Taking customer for granted

Rating: 3.5/5
Can't rate on venue because it's a really tiny place but the food is yumm!
I've tried literally everything from here and never had an issue with any item.
Deepti S
Khara bhaath, thatte idlies and Vadas are our frequent orders here. Chutney is average. It would be nice if they could add dosas too in their menu.
Madhu Sudan 💎
Very cheap price, nice taste friendly on pockets, it’s a must try and my favourite here is their soft thatte idly and sweet kesribath. All other things are also nice.
Srinathbn
Taste is good but the quantity is less. We get 2 idlis for Rs 40 when we directly get it from the same restaurant but through zomato it is Rs60 for 2 idlis. And also the quantity of pongal is less. Discount given by zomato is of no use as accordingly the quantity given is also less
Mamta
Amazing thatte idlis, its the same good taste everytime. Chutney is little spicy for my palate. It's great place for breakfast and value for money
Misha Kathija
not 5 stars only because I didn't get the orange chutney with it. :/

I ordered puliogare... It tasted so good...They had provided chutney along with it in a small banana leaf which I personally loved... Only thing was it was not Warm... Beside that after a long time I had hands on good puliogare.. Thankyou made my day

Please double check the items delivered as against your order in the presence of the delivery boy. This restaurant does not place all items in one packet.(Saving money on providing paper bags probably). The net result is the delivery boy may fail to pick up/ deliver certain items packaged separately. The restaurant will claim that they have isdued all items. The process of lodging a complaint and chatting with customer service of Zonato wastes a lot of your time as the response time is too slow. You may get a refund in the end but you will have to forego your meal as reordering will waste another 45 minutes. So please be careful.I have experienced this today with a breakfast order.
Pratyusha V
I ordered it online the service is average. Ordered for shavige bath and got avvalaki which is not my order. The response was also not that great for asking about this. Thate idli is good. Food is good except for the service.

Order took 45min to deliver in next street, idlis soft and good, chutney too hot full of green chillies and gone bad, no sambar given, khara bhat very less quantity good for a kid. Vada is ok.

By far the best thatte idli I've eaten ever!! I'm a big idli fan and this is just what makes me love it more. The idli here is so soft and fluffy that I can just eat anytime any day!! Just melts in the mouth in no time!! And the chutney is equally good. It's the best idli-chutney combination for me!! A must-have dish!! Keep up the good work team!! :)
Chaitra Udavath
Food was good. But it was not warm enough to enjoy it's real taste.

Tiny outlet with huge crowd waiting just because of the taste. Budget friendly and it's a fast food kind of thing. Puliyogre is something one shouldn't miss
Manas Bhowmick
Very good and hygienic food. That khara bath is spicy n yum.Idlis are soft n served with delicious chutney. Vada is crunchy with perfect seasoning
Malatesh Qsg
Very ridiculous response from hotel... Received order and then calls and say we r out of stock, then considers our new change with lesser prices value, saying we have only these sir later we receive something else as adjustment for dat... On calling him he says " Adjust Madkotira anta anakode" .... The hotel owner decides your menu... He sends wat ever is left over... Soni Kamal guys can we have a option too send back what is left over....
#VERY UNSATISFIED... Specially on keeping dat hotel name...totally UNFIT
Ram
No carry bag was given (neither cloth bag nor plastic ) packing was really bad.
Vishal
Ordered a special puliyogre.. the taste was good, but the quantity was too less. It didn't even fill the small package they sent it in. Also, the menu says they give it with chutney, but there was no chutney.
Jayadeep
No carry bag nothing!

Named on the very popular thatte idli, this place does indeed serve you some really good idly. Buttery soft and melting in the mouth, that's one good thatte idly. Also this place serves delicious puliyogare. So in mood for some Brahmin food? Head over to brahmin's thatte idli

Very tasty idlys. Red chatney is just too good. The idlys are so soft that you cant resist to eat more. They give hot too. Instantly served.

Lives up to its reputation.. Fluffy idlies, tasty chutney, authentic puliogre, semiya upma was okay, pongal was a disappointment

Should ensure the delivery of the ordered items. Khara bath was sent instead of Kesari bath.

I've rated 4 only because there is no seating. Otherwise they serve yummy fresh dishes on their menu. Idlis are very soft. Do try butter idli..it's yumm. You can stop by and have a quick tasty breakfast which will slide in your throat like butter., so soft and fresh.

Used to order from this place before the outlet in RT Nagar opened. This is a better option as the R T Nagar outlet is mostly off for online ordering especially in the morning.
The taste and quality is good.
Naveen Kumar
awesome service
🌌
The idly is out of the world!it's fluffy and fresh... service can be better if sambar is provided too when thatte idli is ordered... overall experience thumbs up
Pratibha Atchutanna
Affordable
Tasty
Traditional south indian food
Very soft idlys 😍
Pongal available only during mornings
Monday is a holiday 😰
Sambar not available
Limited menu

Very good delicious Idli's (big round one called "Thatte Idli"), very very cheap and the quantity is really good for one person. I have had this as Breakfast+Lunch+Dinner for ONE whole day and it was the most cheapest but filling food for a day. Never been to the place, but food delivered has been good.
Raja Vignesh
Small place, self service and take away....
Lip smacking thatte idli, especially with butter... And amazing chutney to go with...
And off course their all time best... Puliogare... Among the best i've tasted in Bangalore....
The downer being they don't have filter coffee to complement the amazing brekkie...
Rakesh Pawar
This is literally outlet. They don't have chairs and tables and you have to eat standing on the footpath. The food is good enough, no wonder this place is crowded in mornings. I tell you this place is value for money.
Shikha Vashisth
Good for instant hunger killing and cheapest meal... Serving south Indian tasty quick recipes.... Only drawback is that seating is not available and sometimes you have to stand outside of shop due to heavy crowd....
Prasanna Bhagwan
Tempting menu , affordable price , fresh food , very fast moving centre , idly is their main attraction. No place to sit , mostly crowded but quick service.
Praneeth Kumar
We've ordered food from this restraunt. So, can't comment anything about the ambiance. Food was good. Took savige bath and thatte idly. An economic one. Worth every penny.
Razik
Thatte idli and red chatni superb.........................................................................................................................................
Kiran Ghatikar
Food is good.. No issues with that... Customer service very very bad... First i took the token... By the way cashier spoke to me... I gave back the token and took my money back... They are much more concerned abour online orders than the customers who are waiting in the queue... I waited almost 30 mins and then went to a different hotel in sanjaynagar....

Boring Tuesday evening and I was craving for some yummy South Indian quick bite. That's when I came across Brahmins Tatte Idly in Sanjaynagar.
Tempting menu at affordable prices, this place is good for take away as there is no place to sit and enjoy the food.
Ordered a thatte idli, uddina vada and kesari bath. The Idli was soft, vada had the perfect crispiness on the outside and soft well cooked inside, the kesari bath was my favourite with everything about it so perfect I wanted more!!
I will for sure go back to try the remaining varieties and yes, more kesari bath ! :)

This tiny joint in Sanjay Nagar which is a breakfast hotspot for the locals. No nonsense structure serving only your quick fix meal demands. They deal in quick staple food served for take away / stand in customers.

Thatte idlis are piping hot and just what the doctor ordered! Light on stomach, perfect on the taste buds. Chutney served is good too. Apart from the signature Idlis, their Uddin Vada, Khara Bhath and Pongal are things to try out. Pongal in particular is very well made. As you would expect the pricing is very modest.

This place is a must try for all hoggers in north Bengaluru to enjoy the archetypal food values that Namma Bengaluru boasts of.

|======| #MyVerdict |======|

Taste buds: 4
Quality & hygiene: 3.5
Ambiance/Vibe: N/A
Service: 4
Menu Options: 3
Dime’s Worth: 5
Happiness Meter: 4
USP: Piping hot food – especially brilliant in the morning

**********************************
#Foodieman #LifeOfPai
**********************************
*suryad007@gmail.com*

I had been here on last Saturday morning at 7:15am.
It opens up earlier.

I had Thatte Idly, Vada and Kesari Bath.

The Thatte Idly is very soft. Amazing idlys.
Rarely found so good. Vada is just fine. Idli and Vada is served with coconut chutney and red chutney. No sambhar available. Kesari Bath is delicious.

The place doesn't serve coffee or tea. There is no place to sit. You need to hold the plates in your hand.
Best Puliygere in our Area !!!
I have been getting food from this place for more than a year. Never visited the place. The food is really value for money - I would say it is cheap. The star of their menu is puliyogere. It is a very limited menu. Thatte Idli, Vade, Khara Bhath, Puliyogere, Shavige bhath, Avalakki and pongal. Apart from the khara bhath which is below par everything else is good.
Breakfast for two for less than Rs. 150 these days !
My rating is only for food
Ravi Mani
Don't serve it if you can't serve it hot.
Don't run a business if you don't have customer orientation

These two lines should sum up the Quality of Food and Service.
We had ordered Thatte Idly and Shavige Bhath. Idly was tepid and the Shavige Bhath was cold (can even call it chilled). On pointing out to the person in-charge he claimed that the Idly is hot and customer should have checked the other items before taking them.

The fact that the food is of good taste and place is reasonably clean is completely lost by the lack of customer orientation. This, in addition to the chaos at counter as pointed out by other reviewers make this place a lost cause. Will not visit this place again.
YBRANTWORKS PVT LTD
A very small place with no place to stand or sit if there are more people. They don't know how to manage the crowd and it's chaos.
Tip: parcel is faster. Take it and eat it there. It's standing anyway.
The thatte idly was very good. Soft and melt in mouth. The chutneys were coconut and red. The coconut one is a bit spicy. Just a bit. Nice.
Took khara bhaat. Don't take. Bad.
Go before the market around it opens to have parking

Nice small ...clean joint with very good breakfast....love the Thatte idly with red tasty chutney......even carry away packaging is good with freshly prepared breakfast..

Super duper small place to have south Indian delicacies. Went to this place on Sunday for early morning breakfast. There is no place to sit and no proper arrangement in general, for a place like this atleast tables kept outside the place would do for the customers .

Being Sunday the place was crowed thankfully people followed que while ordering but the staff was clueless and didn't know how to manage the crowd. Since we have to stand and eat, it got a little messy and with too much of crowd around things got worse.

The menu is really small.. you can actually try everything in one meal itself. The quantity for the price that they offer is really good. Do try out their avlakkai and puliogre. Even though this place is known for its thatte idly personally I didn't like it much.

Don't expect much out of this place but this place is worth a visit !

Pari
Small outlet opposite to Canara Bank. Good for quick breakfast. Soft idlis with nice coconut chutney as we found it at every brahmins outlet.
Rahul KH
A simple breakfast joint mostly known for their thatte idlis. Chutney is nice. Nice and neat packaging. For a change try out vermicelli uppit also
Frankly no one needs to talk or review Brahmin's cafe on their food. They have achieved it all historically with their maiden store earlier in Bengaluru.

This store in Sanjaynagar is an extension of that legacy and does justice to the fame.

Food - With the limited options, like thatte idli, wada, kesri baath and few other item; the food does not go wrong any time. The thatte idlis are softer and bigger, the way you want it to be.

Ambience- This is more of a eat out or take away store, so one shall not expect much of ambience. The joint is small and uses the ever selling theme of Warli paintings on walls. Just fine ambiance for this type of store.

Service - All great things has some or other shortcoming and this place has it as well. On a busy day (weekends), it becomes almost impossible to get your food plate without waiting for 20 minutes for eating there and more for take aways. One good thing is they have Swiggy delivery, so you can sit at home and order.

If You ask for a verdict, a good place for morning breakfast which sticks to the basics well.

I went with my family and sampled everything on offer. The shevige baath was nice but was not hot. We had the Thatte Idly which frankly was disappointing. I have had much better Thatte Idly (in fact the best ever Thatte idly I have had is in chennai at a non-descript joint called Vaishnav's in Puruswalkam). The Upma was was quite nice. The Vada was crisp but was quite cold (we were there right at the opening of the store - so it's not that we went late). The chutneys were very decent. Overall for me the disappointment was with the flagship idly.
Whoever owns this chain must visit Vaishnav's in chennai. They will have the same queues that place attracts.

This little stand and eat joint is situated on the Ashwathnagar main road opp to Ramiah college almost at the perpendicular junction of the Sanjaynagar Main road. An ideal stop over for piping hot thatte idlies which are soft and delicious. Served wth coconut chutney and separate tomato red chutney too. I am sure tht u will certainly want a second helping of these soft cotton type idly (used to be bigger and thicker whn they had launched the store). The uddine vadas are nice & crispy too although a lil' small in size. Their other items on the menu like Savige baath, khara baath, kesari baath & bisibele baath are very tasty too. This joint has become vry popular wth people around both coz it is very pocket friendly & also they maintain good quality standards without compromising on the taste. They have open a couple of more branches of this at Rajajinagar & also at Malleswaram wth a few more in the pipeline. Well surely a good joint for b'fast if you wuldn't mind standing in a queue fr a lil' time & also enjoy standing on the pavement & earing ure food. But then it for sure is worth d effort. Do try it certainly u won't regret 😊

They could really do with some teaching of Manners to the Cashier. All I wanted was an in & out parcel, the cashier asks for a bag. I told him to use a bag and charge for it. He puts this BBMP notice to my face. I told him I was aware of the plastic bag ban, this was an impulsive visit, please charge me for a cloth bag. He doesnt even have a cloth bag and he keeps on saying "Sorry Sir, Sorry Sir" and hiding behind the BBMP notice in an arrogant loud way, like I made a mistake of not planning my breakfast 2 days earlier. I told him to give my Money back as these People dont have basic Manners. Just before me 2 other customers also he was yelling " we have only thatte idli, we have only thatte idli" i really fail to understand if he has a hearing problem and cant hear what he is saying. These douche bags have only been for a year, they should learn from Legends like Veena Stores who manage so well. I have been doing Veena Stores for 19 years and still they are good!

Any which way, because of their location and hunger pangs of Patrons they will survive, I am sure if he tries these stunts with the wrong people, they will make sure he packs his bags!

I will try to stay away from this place as far as possible!
Pooja Sonawane
This is yet another amazing place. Take away or typical darshani style, but the quality and the taste is awesome. Its our favourite breakfast
Rajat Kharbanda (Always_Hungry)
Nowhere in Bangalore will you find such an economical meal of this quality. Outstanding food! The vadas are crisp and thoroughly cooked. Khara baath and kesari baath have great texture and are overpowered by the fragrance of ghee.

Only issue is that when it's too crowded in the morning, they don't give enough time to the idly to steam because of which it comes out undercooked and flat at times!

But the rest is brilliant and the staff is always smiling which makes a great experience here.
Noor S (noorinfoodistan.wordpress.com)
A good place for South Indian breakfast option. Ppl who don't like to eat at this small place...at the road, go for home delivery through Swiggy. That's wt I did.

Tatte idli: Quite soft n nice. But it was ail thinner/smaller to the avg. size of a tatte idli.

Vada: Quite crispy but it's not the best I've had.
No sambar provided here.

Chutney: Quite nice n flavorful green coconut chutney. But it has pasty texture than coconutty..!

Khara bath/Upma: Strangely a lil brownish in colour. But was cooked really well with ghee n some mix veggies including capsicum. It was slightly tangy too..but good enough to try.

Would've rated higher as food is quite nice but gotta try their other stuff...until then it's a 3.5.

Go eeeeet!😎

A hole in the wall shop, this place is located on the 100ft road connecting Sanjayanagar to new bel road, the road where truffles is located. The entrance is barricaded with a huge glass counter, this is where you order, pay & even view some of the food. Of course, you have to stand outside on the footpath to eat. Positive thing, they serve steel spoons instead of plastic, so no frustration of breaking spoons over vada, chucking it & using your hands (coz there is no place to clean your hands).

The best part about this place is you can order for HALF PLATE of anything on the rice menu costing HALF the PRICE . Perfect if you want to try many of them without being too full.

ORDER:
#Thatte Idli: Perfectly soft, small plate sized, served with green chilli & coconut chutney (green) & red chilli & coconut chutney (red). There's no sambar coz this ain't athithi satkar. They taste well with both chutneys, but I prefer the red chutney. They don't have butter though.

#Uddinar Vada: Doughnut shaped, fried batter. They are crispy, not too oily, but can be tough to eat. It can get too hard & rubbery if not fresh. Tastes well with chutney. They also had Masala vada (popularly known as thithi vada..:) :) but stopped it.

#Puliyogre: Perhaps their best food imo. It tastes like the ones served at temples.. :). They are perfectly sour, slightly sweetish & delectably spicy. They call it their special puliyogre & after tasting it, rest assured it wasn't MTR mix. But watch out for the lots of curry leaves, kinda irritating to pick it out whole eating.

#Khara bath/ Upma: the upma made of rava is very soggy and had a overload of lemon. Tasted OK but give it a skip. There are other better stuff.

#Shavige: This is steamed vermicelli with spices. The spices were good and it also had capsicum which made it adequately spicy. It tastes better without the chutney.

Will hog more stuff here & update this review.

Go here if you like soft Thatte Idlis with generous helpings of delicious chutney! The place looks neat and clean. Food is served on leaf plates.

Note that there is no seating area here.
Ratheesh Ramanan
Nice little place if you want to have a quick bite. Been here couple of times.. They don't have loads of variety, but their idly and chutney is good.
Mohit Suthar
mind blowing idly and the chutney served here ....if u visit this food store for the very first time..the taste of there food items will flaunt you to visit it again and again
LoveLace
Good for a quick bite.Idlis are soft and hot.Chutneys are yum.Stuff gets over soon.People go cray to lay their hands on the food here.
I used to like there upma but now its so much oil in em.
Pramod N
I have been to all three outlets of Brahmins thatte idli, first I tried at Rajajinagar, it's a small outlet and pretty new and also the Malleswaram one is pretty big and they maintain same cleanliness and they are very friendly. Idlis are like butter, they melt when you keep it in your mouth. They are 100 percent better than Veena stores. The puliyogre is my favorite and also avallaki. They have increased the price of coffee from Rs. 5 to 7 and they taste too good. I want to give them 5 star for their taste and cleanliness.
Abhishek Chandak
Amazing place for a quick bite. Go there for their super soft idlis and there delicious chutneys. Affordable, no-frills food joint with delicious preparations.
Atheetha
This place is an eye catcher with its bright yellow board. It's quite inviting and you can't miss the place if you re driving down that road (which is how we stopped to give the place a try!). It's a hole in the wall kind of place but very neat and clean. You order and pay first, present the coupon and the food is served (real quick), though there is no place to sit and eat.
The idli along with the chutneys presents a very pretty picture and I couldn't wait to dig in. However, The idli was just ok. I wouldn't say it was soft and fluffy, it was more of a cake texture. It comes nowhere near the Veena Stores Idli, sadly! I loved the vada though, which was crisp and tasty, fried to perfection.
Light on the pocket, this place deserves a try if you are around Sanjay Nagar area!
Suraj Shah
Must try Tatte Idly, kahara bhath, Kesari Bhath awesome place for snacks in Sanjaynagar must try once u r in Bangalore. Thanks for delicious food.
MD Saqlain Jameel
The ambience is as the name says..! Its like fast food joint and the food is fantastic! Especially the Thatte Idly.. Its so damn soft! The chutney tastes amazingly good! Also the Puliogre is awesome.. Try the morning breakfast here!

A very small outlet located on the 80feet road of Sanjay Nagar, pulls a great crowd especially for breakfasts. I visited this outlet on a weekday morning with my foodie friend,it was crowded. People mostly come for take- away.
From the menu we ordered, thatte idli, uddina Vade and puliyogre. Thatte idli with red chutney tasted amazing. Puliyogre was equally good. Loved their service. 100% value for money. Well maintained. Parking up to some extent can be done.
Will surely visit again :)
Lakshmikanth Shenoy
The place is likely a bakery displaying the items available .
We need to pay take the bill and then eat by standing on the footpath.
Ordered thate idly , it was fluppy and soft just like normal cake served with the chutney. After that ordered brahmins special which was nothing but the puliyogare, the taste was usual nothing special but the masala was mixed well over each bit of rice.
Recommended for breakfast takeaways.
$$$ thate idly + puliyogare for 50 inr
Divya Thangamma
