Review Hotel Nalapaka - Bengaluru

If at all you love to eat typical Kannada Food, this is the place. Tasty food, good ambience and fast service. We have ordered Soaked Mandakki, Paddu, Davangere Benne Masala Dosa, Thalipith and filter coffee. Everything was excellent. The service was very fast. We have to pay for the food in advance at the counter and give that bill to the bearer and he serves the hot and delicious food at your table.

I recently dined at Nalapaka Rajajinagar and had a wonderful experience trying their delicious North Karnataka style food. The flavors were truly authentic and satisfying. The service might be a bit average, but the outstanding food more than makes up for it. If you're looking to indulge in Karnataka style cuisine, this place is definitely worth a visit!

Always feels like home cooked food. Great taste, hygiene. I am a frequent visitor for breakfast, also been three for lunch. Of course, I will go again and again. Highly recommended. If you are hungry for breakfast or lunch and happen to be in the Rajajinagar area, don't look elsewhere. You won't be disappointed.
Chinmay Agnihotri
Typical North Karnataka restaurant. Jolad roti meals is a must, soft jolad roti with added butter and accompanied with different types of palya like yanagai, dal, madikekalu. A dessert in the form of payasam and holige will be served along with salad, curd, types of chutney pudi, rice, sambar, buttermilk and pan . A wholesome meal

What a delight of having the divine North Karnataka food in Bangalore. If you crave for top notch Jowar (Sorghum Millet) roti (bread) meals, Girmit (Puff rice) Mandaki, Avalakki (Flattened Rice), Mirchi Bhajji (Chilli gram dough), etc. If you are in Bangalore and if you don’t visit here, it’s a sin. So visit here and don’t miss it 😁 and don’t mess with it πŸ˜… Just love their food, people, and those old Kannada songs !

Tasty north Karnataka food. The best I have had in Bangalore. Only downside is sometimes they force you to share tables with others.

Nalapaka is a known brand for vegetarian food lovers . Ambience is decent . Food taste is very very good . No of items are more . Service is excellent. Price is reasonable. Only concern is no parking here for 4 wheelers. Overall this is an excellent place to have food with Family and friends.

I was amazed by the taste of the food and price that they are charging. So reasonable! The restaurant is kept neat and clean. And provides everything from juice, sandwich to all kinds of vegetarian meals. Perfect place for a vegetarian πŸ˜€ Masala dosa was made perfect crispy as per our instructions. We also took chai and coffee. A great breakfast experience!!!

Very good place for north Karnataka meals. Please plan properly before visit, waiting time is long during lunch hours especially on weekends. Definitely you will love the food and service

Went to this place with a friend in Bangalore as he suggested it. Its a very clean and tidy hotel. I tried khali dosa and thalipeeth. Both tasted really well and the quality was equally good. I was told their lunch will be nice and they serve their dishes wich are quite healthy as well. Should try in future... Cheers Nalapaka !

Why there is a huge price difference for online order, I see each item is doubled the price of actual menu in restaurant. There is no point for u guys to be partnered with online order. Better stay out of this platform and stop cheating customers.
Jaya Rao Sr
Very Rude Staff. They did not give the food. They told to wait for 1 1/2 hours.

Lip smaking northern karnataka meals served on banana leaf. Folks from opposite side of Bangalore City visit here for a memorable experience. Ambience is dull, furniture is made for quick clean up, but none of that matters because the food takes over. Afternoons can get crowded, ensure to reach early and beat the waiting line. Make sure to have the unlimited meals and enjoy the vegetarian spread on the leaf!

This Gem of a buffet on the table place serves south Indian food. My Sister in law introducde this place to me & from outside I was like what is this place which has no 4 wheeler parking. But once seated, after waiting for 15 minutes, the aroma pacified me. Served everything on a banana leaf, I found the payasam, The mix veg Dal amazing with the homemade ghee. Can be maintained in a much better way in terms of hygiene.

I was a regular customer of this restaurant but now they have completely ruined this authentic North Karnataka food for its customers, they have not maintained good service and dishes are absolutely tasteless now, nothing is spicy or tasty.

I'm a foodie. I saw that taklu uncle video on YouTube and went here yesterday (23-02-2020). My wife and I got stomach ache and diarrhea. So hear my suggestion...Do not go here. If you still want to take a chance...eat at your own risk!!!!!!
Suprith AH
Worst behaviour of cashier as well from suppliers. Food taste got degraded. They have raised the money and they are not serving the same quality. Totally waste of time and waste of money.
Manasa Rangaraj
Their online food delivery is so expensive that it's not even worth it. Even their kitchen isn't hygienic. They charge way too much for the food they deliver. It's not even a 5 star or a 7 star hotel. May be they should really decrease the cost of the food items delivered online.
Suhas Manjunath
It was very pleasant visiting Nalapaka. Awesome gesture. Love their food. Kudos!

Our family had been a regular to Nalapaka for past few years as they served some delicious north Karnataka jowar roti meals. But the experience we had to undergo at their hands on 11.01.2020 afternoon left a bitter taste in our mouth.

We visited this restaurant for a lunch at around 1.30 and it was heavily crowded. There were 6 of us including children and elders. Now, we do understand that we have to wait for our turn in a crowded restaurant and we were prepared for that. But we were definitely not prepared for the mismanagement and the chaos that had turned the scenes inside a total mess. There were 3-4 people writing down the names and they were all calling names simultaneously and fighting among themselves as to whom should they let go. First, one lady asked us to go upstairs with many others and when we went up, she told she cannot accommodate us there as there are 5 of us!

We came down again, and after almost an hour of waiting, there were some seats becoming vacant and we told we would move in there. But the lady insisted that since there were 6 of us, we could only take a particularly large sofa and kept giving tables to people who came after us. Finally, when the seats she told were empty after almost 1.5 hours later, and when my wife and aged mother had been seated at the places we were asked to sit, they received a large party who had come much after us, and they asked us to vacate out seats!

Remember, all this happened after we had been patiently waiting for more 1.5 hours with my aged parents and repeatedly telling the people in charge that we do not 6 seats together and we can adjust in different tables. But the lade was adamant that she will make us sit on a large sofa, and finally when it was turn to take the tables, they simply asked to get up and wait for some more time because they had received some huge number guests in a group. The fact that they had come after us didn’t seem to matter to them.

We were appalled by this greedy behavior of the hotel staff and told that we need our money back, as I had already paid for the meals. The cashier was reluctant to give our money back but when I started raising my voice, he unwillingly retuned the money.

I have hardly seen such shamelessly greedy behavior from the staff of any hotel before. Just to make some profits, they didn’t care about my aged parents or young children who were waiting there for a long time. I understand that heavy crowds can make the management in a small restaurant go crazy, but this was purely money minded behavior from the hotel, not a giving damn even about their regular customers.

Very pathetic behavior from Nalapaka staff.

The restaurant people are so full of themselves, bought the coupon for meals, when asked for place to sit nobody bothered to help us out. Worst service I have ever seen. Will always avoid such places where you pay money and feel like a begger
Aditya Deshpande
Bad attitude from waiter and careless cashier..First nobody tells you to take food coupon in advance..After sitting for half hr when we asked waiter to take our order, he dismissed us saying " go get ur coupon first"..he was just a kid.. when i went to cashier he doesn't even bother to take order correctly and throws back change at you as if he was doing us some favour..Owners should train their staff well in customer service as I'm from service industry too( being a doctor)
Anoop Maddi
Ordered on Zomato, items ordered were unavailable, bad packing, finally some items were missed when delivered. Quality also not that great
Satyanand Mukund
Highly over rated and disorganised place. Average food in comparison to several popular places in Rajaji Nagar. No choice in terms of meal options. Zomato menu is not available on weekends. All you get is one jowar roti meals.
Please avoid on weekends.

Best hotel for north Karnataka and full meals. Been so many times still hotel make me feel awesome every time by its delicious food. Uttar Karnataka's roti is great when they are served with unsalted butter.

This is superb place have been going there from long time !! I feel one of the best north Karnataka food joint .
Make sure you are prepared to wait because its mostly crowded during peak hours and parking would another big problem.
Suggestion: Don't forget to choose unlimited meals , it's the best .

Tales N Tastes!
I love love this place. Their Jowar Rotti meal, their Girmit and Mirchi bajji and everything is reasonable and tasty. 😍 Good for a quick hangout or lunch. Priced well.

Lip smacking Benne Dosa, Ghee roast, Mandakki Upma and Paddus. The spiciness in chutney is a bit too much. Caution!
One Tough Cookie
Heard that this is a very popular place for traditional jolad roti meals & is usually packed. We went on a Wednesday evening and were lucky enough to find the place only half occupied.

The restaurant runs on a unique concept of pay-before-you-eat and pay-for-service. So you stand in line at the cash counter, choose + bill your items and collect a token which you hand over to a waiter after you have found a seat. The restaurant is on two levels with the ground floor area dedicated to unlimited meals managed by servers, while the top floor is for self-service limited-thali meals.

We opted for the famous jolad roti unlimited meals. As soon as we were seated, large banana leaves were placed in front of us and three gravies, a salad and red chutney were dished out. On the table there were additional condiments such as 3 different powders & a pickle. So far so good.
This is when we began to run into problems with the service. I must confess here that, regrettably, neither my partner nor I speak Kannada fluently. So we were unable to communicate well with the waiter. And the chap couldn’t have been more unfriendly. Even when we pointed at gravies obviously enquiring about the names he would just respond with a brusque nod. 😐 We had to wait for a full ten minutes for the first rotis to be served.

The rotis were delicious- light, thin and slightly floury. Eaten with a swipe of fresh butter, a bit of fresh green chilli, a raw onion and a dab of the fiery red chutney - pure bliss. (5/5)

The first gravy was a green brinjal gravy - it seemed like a green version of yennagai with dill leaves. (4.5/5)
The second gravy was an unremarkable cluster beans sabji in red masala (3/5) while the last pallya was a decent dry green moong preparation sautΓ©ed with grated coconut & spices (3.5/5).

Now the hallmark of a good thali place is that each course follows the other seamlessly. Here we were done with our rotis and there was no sign of our waiter for another 10 mins. Its very awkward to hang around waiting for the next course when you are eating with your hands.
At long last we were served the next course which turned out to be a chitranna- this was made in a slightly different style. The addition of plump boiled peanuts provided texture, but the dish lacked the zing of lime (3/5). After another long wait, 3 bowls of buttermilk, curd and payasam respectively were plonked down on the table unceremoniously.
The buttermilk was watery and not blended well with the curds having settled at the bottom. (1/5)
The payasam was made of barley & jaggery. The barley gave it a wholesome bite and the jaggery imparted a mild sweetness (3.5/5)
Our errant waiter was back with sambar and more rice. We didn’t know there was a sambar course and had moved on to payasam. So finally we ended up having the sambar and rice after the dessert. The sambar was prepared in North Kannada style and was quite tasty. (3.5/5)

Verdict: Visit only for the jolada roti with butter. Overall you can expect a well balanced and hygienically prepared vegetarian meal. Service is unfriendly and erratic.
The jowar roti meals is a splendid experience one can have . The roti, chutney, red spicy chutney powder and curry they serve are truly delicious. Prices are worthy. Two meals cost you β‚Ή384 inclusive of taxes.

Place always is crowded and is very popular, taste and quality is at its best ,Here was one of the healthiest food I ever had in my life. I'll always look forward to go there

Nalapaka is one of the best places for trying out North Karnataka food. I have been there for breakfast and lunch and both my experiences have been wonderful. I have tried their GHEE ROAST DOSA, AVALAKKE and THALI PATTU. I would say that their Avalakke is even better than the one at Veena Stores. They give gunpowder and curd with the Poha which tastes absolutely yum. I really loved the potato filling and the chutney served with the dosa. Thali pattu is like the dill leaves version of the dosai but without any filling and the batter is out besan. It's served with curry. Extremely appetising.
For the lunch, I have tried their JOLADA ROTI MEALS. The place gets super crowded during lunch hours so you can expect a waiting of close to 15-30 mins at the least. The day I went the Jolada Meal came with Jawar Roti, Brinjal Palya, Mix Veg Curry, Kalu( Moong Dal) Palya, White Rice, Pulav, Sambar and Rasam. They have three different kinds of podi which tastes phenomenal with the Kalu Palya. Overall, an extremely healthy meal I would say.
Service is quick and pricing is extremely reasonable. The meals are priced between 180-220/- while the breakfast items cost 30-60/- Would love to come back sometime in the evening for their Girmitt, Bun Mirchi & Soaked Mandakki.
Bon Appetit :)

I've been a frequent visitor of nalapaka. This place is best known for its breakfast. The benne dose here is a must try. The paddu and girmittu are a must try. The white aloo subzi is the speciality of this dose

A great place for north karntaka delicacies. I have only visited Nalapaka for breakfast and loved it. You have to first buy coupons from the counter and then share it with the person serving your table.
Coming to food, I have tried the below items so far in my two visits:
Davangere benne masala dosa served with the typical Davangete style white aloo masala πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ
Ghee masala dosa : it was awesome, really loved their crispy ghee dosa πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ
Masala Paddu: πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ
Thali pattu: made of besan flour and dill leaves, loved the taste. πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ
Avalakki: One of the best poha at Bangalore, a must try from their menu. πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ

One amazing stop for North Karnataka breakfast and meals. I have tried quite a variety.. davengere benne dosa, masala paddu, ghee roast dosa, avalakki & thalipattu. Each and every item is delicious. Their dosas are must have. Coffee is good too. Pricing is very reasonable and quantity is generous for the price. Will love to try their evening snacks next time

A lovely jolada rotti hotel. Unlimited plantain leaf lunch dinner. Rottis are yummy and authentic. Brinjsl gravy very tasty too. They have other sides too. Buttermilk is good and rice itemis good and rasamsambhar also nice. Value for money. Right pricing.

food is too costlier then other uttara karnataka hotels.items were their but no exact taste, its just to fil our stomach.not worth for money.moreover that unnecessary queue is making the hotel popular thats it.taste is flown away.not like before.waste of money
Divya M R
This place makes the best ennegayi, palak dal and joladarotti. Also, bun mirchi is worth the mention. Inall, an amazing place. Definitely worth the money :)
Sandhyasrinivas84
Authentic North Karnataka food reasonably priced. Only feedback is please improve in packing food for parcels. The packaging is bad soecially curries, the oil starts dripping very soon.
Akshay Narendra
I don't know who gave high rating for this hotel. Taste is good. But even at 9.30 in morning they Tel that items are closed. Very rude staff. No proper queue is followed .We waited for 20 mins just to listen that hotel is closed.

I will never visit here again
Jwalesh Kumar
Here, people can get satisfactory food that to if you people choose unlimited one. The food what we get is completely uttar Karnataka style. People who wants to have change can come here.
But one problem is you people have to wait especially in weekends.

For a healthy authentic north Karnataka restaurant in Bangalore, this is the place to be visited. Always crowded and a small place , we may have to wait for sometime to get table. Priced at 192/- the full meals is worth the cost. The Jowar rotis along with butter tastes great. The curries, chitranna, sambar, wheat based sweet all are good to stomach. Highly recommended for those looking for north Kannada style food.

I’m always carving for north karnataka food. Heard about hotel nalapak and saw it featured in a list of top north karnataka hotel in Bangalore. And it completely lives up to the hype. Amazing food, amazing staff, superb quality and quantity. Mostly crowded during lunch hours but it shows their quality and expertise in their food. Worth trying. 100% worth it. I’m gonna have food there again! Cheers!

Authentic Dishes from North Karnataka.. the day we visited Bili Roti was available and its very soft and mouthwatering. For bili Holige they provided Brinjal Curry (Badanekayi Engayi) it was too good, Three types of Palya, payasam, Sweet Bread (Holige) Rice and Mangalore Sambhar and Holige Rasam was fantastic.
Aravind C.h
Quality not good. Today ordered a masala dosa and found hairs in dosa. So be careful while eating here. Service is bad. Price not worth. Again check and eat
Punith Reddy
There isn't any ambience to talk about. The place offers great north kannada cuisine. The jolad roti and the girmit in particular are lip smacking. Pricing is great. Worth visiting again and again.
Raghavendra
Very nice north Karnataka food available. Famous for girmit mirchi and the unlimited meals is the best to eat. Hope the outlet opens in different parts of Bengaluru as it's easy for people to visit

The most amazing, satisfying and simple fare. Hands down id recommend this place for north Karnataka cuisine. The jollad roti meals are so reasonable and filling! They serve it fresh off the tawas! On mondays they have special hollige meals and on Thursday they have special meals too. Post 5 pm you’ll get girmit, davengere benne dose, mirchi bajji, akki roti, etc. It’s as authentic as it gets. In fact 90% of their staff is from north Karnataka.

A good North Karnataka meal and quick service. Lots of side dishes get served on the plantain leaf. Good quality and quantity. Go easy on the rottis and rice so that you can savour all the dishes and gravy.

Weekends could get crowded with long wait times. A nice place to experience real North Karnataka cuisine.

I had breakfast there, never tried lunch which is also famous. Food taste is good, i would have given four stars if it is only for food. I have given 3 stars for the overall experience - especially for the service.

2 issues i had with service....
(i) The cleaners didn't clean the table well, the cloth used to clean table was dirty and stinky It left a bad odor in the table after cleaning
(ii) This place is heavily understaffed. 1 waiter was serving for nearly 4 to 5 tables. It was difficult to get any service from him, even giving orders for additional item

On the other hand, we enjoyed the food. Especially "gunta ponganalu(Paniyaram in Tamil)" with Chutney was amazing , not to be missed one if you are there.
Dheeraj Shetty
Went to the joint after 4 to 5 years, but now the restaurant is just a shadow of its past, cleanliness not maintained, no proper water to wash hands. Please avoid it.
Srisha Manakeri
Went back to this place after 2 years. Only change was the price of the meal - obviously it has increased but does not matter. At 3.15 pm there was a waiting list and from the guy who was making a note of the names to people who serve they were as cool as if it was a start of the day. These people (staff) make this place more delightful than the food. Offcourse there is no complain about the taste and the varieties esp on Monday you are served Holige sweet parota) yummm.
Yea I agree their tagline "we guarantee that you will come back" is not overconfidence it is what they deliver. Love this place.
Rajeshwari
Healthy, nutritious food can't get better and tastier than this. A combination of Jowar roti, side dish made of green gram, brinjal curry, curd, one sweet dish ... your daily staple cannot get healthier than this and also much cheaper.
Priya
I took full meals.food was tasteless.. none of us liked it.. I will never go to this hotel again..waste of time and money.i would not recommend it to anyone..
Nagarajan Thandayutham
One of the best places in Bangalore for a delicious and home made experience.. A must try !! Unlimited food and hygienic. A perfect veg feast !!

Stale and tasteless food, terrible service and this place has actually lost its charm. Nothing like how it used to be then. An absolute waste of time and money.

4/5 for meals
Perfect place for North Karnataka (NK) cuisine in Bengaluru. Their Jowar Rotti Meal is really worth trying. The smooth jowar rotti comes with variety of sides like yennegayi, greengram curry, three dry chutneys, loaded with butter. The lemon rice was different from the southern one, Godi Payasa was mouth watering. Cucumber salad, appala, drumstick sambar, rasam, curds, butter milk, tomato cocunut chutney, beeda, etc were the things served. The NK food is usually spicy and hot(kara) but the food over here was not that hot and spicy like the ones actually prepared in NK. I had expected the stuffs to be more spicy.

3/5 for breakfast
Have tried Talipattu and Paddu in their breakfast menu, they were plain in taste and nothing special of NK. Though their Ghee roast masala dosa is very famous, I haven't tried it yet. Got to try other items in their breakfast menu.

Decent ambience, fast service, courteous staff, reasonable price.
Akshay Honnappa
I thought of rating 5 for the quality of food. Why you ask the customer to pay first and then sit. It's seriously annoying. The hotel timings is wrongly updated on Zomato. You find find anything to eat after 10:30 am till 1:30pm.
Moosa Baig
If your planning for having South Indian food this is the best place to hop in!!
But the you have to wait long for a table.
Food served here is at its finest.
On festival occasions it’ll be fully loaded!
Aditi Jain
I just look for reasons to go this place. It’s the best place to go if you like authentic South Indian food-particularly Bangalorean food.
I recommend to go for the buffet- it’s worth every penny you spend. There is lot of variety at nominal prices. Service is also good.

It can be crowded. So go with extra time at hand.
RK ART
Authentic north Karnataka jolada rotti (jower rotti) oota. Jower rotti lovers will and should never miss this hotel if they are in Bengaluru. They serve full meal ( unlimited ) and plate meals ( limited). North Karnataka enngaayi ( stuffed brinjal) is main curry. Always best πŸ‘Œ
