Review Hotel Dwaraka - Bengaluru

Vishwas CR
Old is gold, old is legacy, old is tasty! All of these hold good for Hotel Dwaraka. Their iconic benne khali is still relevant, is still the best. With chutney just keep flowing in the plate, soaking the dose, the taste is always heavenly. A cup of an amazing filter coffee is a perfect ending to this savoring journey.
Tejas Mylavaram
Went to have their special khali dose and masla dose Khali dose was nice warm and soft, and the chutney was flavourful and paired nicely with the khali dose. The masala dose with benne was nice and crisp, the palya was spiced wonderfully Would recommend getting only one khali dose because the second one is a bit too much, but that's just me. But would recommend the masala dose more, had a nice flavor to it

One of the must-visit iconic hotels of South Bengaluru. Famous for their soft Khali Dose with Benne and Palya, which is a must-try. You will surely come back to savour it again whenever you are in the area. Apart from this, the Poori Sagu seemed very popular with so many people ordering a plate. One more speciality was that along with strong coffee, they also provide strong tea (which is something I’ve not come across in many places). There will be a lot of crowd on most days, especially weekends, so make sure you visit before they run out of the menu for the day. Last time we visited, it was around 11:20 AM and the counters were already closed. So had to return much earlier the next time, around 10:30 AM, to taste the famous Khali Dose!

One of my favourite places for dosa in Bangalore. Khaali Benne Palya is their most famous item and a must try. They serve one of the best chutneys in Bangalore and a person keeps going around pouring chutney into your plate until you finish the dosa! Mostly crowded, but the queue moves quickly and you can get seating with a little wait. Have been eating here since 20 years when they were located on Bull temple road. Same taste since many decades, and very pocket friendly place. Highly recommend!
Ruthvik TM
Noisy atmosphere and usually crowded but you still get good Khali dose.

This restaurant is a small darshini style restaurant and it is at a walking distance from NR colony bus stop. Went here and ordered Khali dosey and tea . Since this is a darshini style restaurant we have to first make payment for food we want. In one plate two Khali dosey is served with only chutneys. If we want butter and palya(dry vegetable curry type) we have to pay extra. Khali dosey was soft nd good. Chutney was also good. If anyone is in basavangudi area then they can try Khali dosey here. Good and tasty food. Khali Dosa is a must try! They have maintained the taste and ambience like it was in the 90s. It was established in December 1972 and the cashier is the same from before and is a part of the family tree and it is the 2nd Generation. The Khali Dosa was tasty as usual . The masala dosa was sweetish but good and crispy with butter. The tomato bath was not my favourite! It felt like a mixture of vangi bath and puliyogare. The Rava Vada was crispy but lacked salt a bit. They were generous enough, to serve us chutney the 3rd time too! The chutney there is heaven! Manageable on weekdays but on weekends it is damn hard and you have to wait in a queue! And parking is also difficult here Overall, a must visit place....!
Sagar Biradar
Oldest eatery of South Bangalore. Their Khali dosa+butter with chutney is a class apart. Dosa is extremely spongy and soft. Chutney is a little watery but tastes good. Always crowded. Self service. The place looks neat and clean. Difficult to find a place for car parking. The hotel is located in a narrow lane.
Sowmya Sreeram
Benne Khali dosa is very nice and soft. Medium spicy chutney.

One of the oldest eateries in south Bangalore! People who often visit dwaraka will take khali dose. One of the best khali dose you can have in south bangalore. You need to take Palya on a extra cost. Do try their carrot halwa! Not the best one but it’s good Affordable price. Budget friendly.

Top notch food for those looking for authentic Karnataka breakfast. Out of all their items the Khali dose is the top. Butter smooth and very tasty chutney. Other items are also good but this is the king and queen without a doubt.
Jannavi Killedar
The hotel as adopted to the speed of the customer growth. Quick billing, quick service of Dosa and chutney is served as much as you want. Food tastes amazing like home food

One of the oldest Hotel in Basavanagudi. Till now they've maintained same taste, even some staff's are same. Best Set dosa one could ever bite on. Buttering on them makes it more delicious. Very soft, fresh, and served hot. Chutni is Little bit watery, but tastes Good. Uddin Vada is crispy and soft from inside, sometimes it won't be hot. Masala dosa, Idly, and other dishes are okayish. ( Better than many of new hotels) Self service and service is available. Staffs are Hygienic, wears aprons and headscarf. Very polite, very well maintained place in Hygienic and cleanliness. All kinds of payment method is available ( cash/card/UPI) Extra butter costs- 6 rupees. Beverages are normal just as in other hotels. Parcel orders are given at the entrance, well packed. Overall must visit hotel for Set Dose and Khali Dose Lovers. ( Don't forget to add extra butter)
Laxmeesh Hasyagar
Excellent place. My regular restaurant for Khaali Dose. Eventhough Chatni bit watery, since it is purely made with coconut and not mixed with channa dal. It tastes good. Amazed how they handle orders particularly Khaali Dose at both the counters parcel & eating at Hotel.

Excellent eatout for tasty dosa... This place is very well known for its "Khali dosa" .... spongy tasty dosa with aptly prepared tasty chutney. Serves other variety of "dosas" as well. Other items like "bhajji", Poori, etc are also available. Reasonable prices. Tasty food. One can visit this place quite often.
vidya balasubramanya
One of it's kind dose! So healthy and tasty, yummy chutney, and light on the stomach. Gluten free and vegan, and super affordable. It sets the standard for what Khali dose should be. My south Indian soul gets fed here :)

One the oldest eateries in South Bangalore. They are famous for their Khali Dosa and Butter. Khali Dosa served here has a separate fan base and tastes 5/5. Smooth. Soft They take utmost care for hygiene and clean. I remember during covid time, they implemented secure measures for customers. Try here Khali Dosa with Butter and Palya Butter Masala Dosa - Roast Idli and Sambar Khara Bath Coffee
Manasa
This is a over hyped place. They charge for everything I mean for everything, for use n throw plate also Charging and also for palya we need to pay extra ₹6 to get palya. We can understand hotel industry is going thru crisis but looting frm customers is not a solution.
Manish Roy
This is a little breakfast joint that's nearby cubbon park .So you can come over here after a morning or evening stroll .

Due to covid they have made some arrangements to ensure social distancing norms.
I ordered the benne kali dosa, Kesari bath and filtered coffee.

The best item without any question was the benne dosa. It had a nice soft texture as well as some crunchy part. Its one of the best benne dosa I have had till now. The butter added something a bit extra. It went really well with the chutney that's served as the accompaniment. The chutney was a little spicy had a nice little hint of heat to it along with the curry leaves that enhanced it's flavour.

The Kesari bath was good . It had flavours of cardamom and a few other spices. It was not heavy ,but more on the lighter side. There was a little bit of crunch present from the pineapple also.

The coffee is perfect for someone who doesn't like sweet coffee. It was the perfect mix of coffee and sugar . Not overpowering with sugar , but just enough to enhance the flavor of the coffee beans

Must try Benne kali dose

I had set dosa here. All I can say is that the taste will never leave you - in a good way. It was delicious. Very well baked, cooked, warmed with the right ingredients.

One of the best place of kali dosas in Bangalore. Soft spongy dosa soaks up the spicy chutney. Don’t forget to ask for benne (butter) for your kali dosas. Upma is great too.
This place serves its food in a giffy so it’s perfect to have a quick breakfast ended by a perfect filter coffee for the morning caffeine kick m.
Anup Kumar
Fluffy dosas which absorb tasty chutney like sponges! Rightly flavoured potato palya, yummy karabath and rava vada.. the best place in NR colony, Basvangudi, Thyagaraja nagar for breakfast and evening snacks. 💗 the place!
Eshwar Vemala
Dwarka hotel is an old food joint located in NR colony. Its presence is dated back to the independence Era and is managed by senior citizens till date. It's a self service outlet serving typical south Indian dishes for breakfast.

Few of the must try dishes are the Benne Khali dose which is served with coconut chutney and dallops of butter along with delicious kesaribath which has the right amount of sweetness in it. I also tried the vangibath which was pretty good as well. Vada sambar was bad and this can be improved

Overall a good place to go have breakfast and I suggest you not to take 4 wheelers as you would have parking issues.

Ambiance - 3.5/5
Quality - 4/5
Taste - 4/5
Quantity - 4/5
Service - 4.5/5
Price - 4.5/5

Had recently visited this place in Basavanagudi...its a old iconic hotel present there who serves dosa and other tiffins, it will be very crowded in the morning , parking for bike is available but for a car it's a challenge, right now they accept only cash and no card or wallet payment, the staffs were a bit slow and inattentive at work and were playing fool here and there... Rest all is great !!...do visit once

Excellent in taste and quality. Legendary place serving food from long long years. Khali is super delicious, soft and oiless. This is must try. Located in nr colony main road and buzzing with ppl. Crowded during the weekends, but the service is quick. Popular and worth trying dishes: Khali dose, pineapple kesribath, coffee.
Bhargavi Shamuk
Ambiance - The hotel has seating arrangement in one half of the space and the rest of the place is free for people to stand and eat. It is a crowd favorite spot in NR Colony. The hotel has a lot of regular customers.

Service - Self service.

Price - Every dish is properly priced. Butter here costs extra which could have just been included in the price of the dish as every dosa tastes best with butter rather than giving the option.

Taste - I tasted the following items :

Khaali dosa - Hotel Dwaraka is famous for its khaali dosa. They were super soft and tasted great with the coconut chutney.
A plate of khaali dosa consists of two dosas that will fill up your stomach. If you are like me who prefers tasting a lot of dishes, then go in for a single khaali dosa.

Masala dosa - Crispy and tasted heavenly. Did not particularly like the aloo palya though.

Coffee - Strong filter coffee was served just the way I like it.
Wow!!! Masala dosa😋 you should try masala and satdosa here. Better u go before 10:30 am otherwise u may miss delicious breakfast. One of the best food traffic in Basavanagudi.
Nidhi Goyal
Very old place.. small sitting and standing place.. it’s a self service.. but dosa n chatni taste awesome.. just loved it.. and it was stomach filling with pocket friendly!!
Anjana Muralidhar
Best dosas are served here. Their masala dosa and set dosa is a must try. Also, their idli vada sambar is also a dish not to be missed. The sambar here is excellent in taste.
Neha Kumari
Must try for people who love South Indian food. And must try in general . You should definitely have set dosa here. Which is soft as cotton and will met in your mouth as you have it. They make their chutney only from coconut and it tastes so good. You can opt to have set dosa with butter and curry. This combo tastes amazing.
Coming to the coffee, south bangalore is any way famous for the good coffee which is served in this area, but coffee at this place is not to be missed.
There will definitely be rush here if you are going on weekends. Must try in Bangalore I would say.
Nagaraj S
Oh what a place to have Kali dosa.. the best in Bangalore.. the chutney will flow like a river yet very tasty.. I recommended this to my foodie friend Sriaravind and he visits this place whenever he passes by NR colony..

Long queue even at 7.15 in the morning. Very popular place. They make one of the best Khali dose in the city. Top it with benne and coconut chutney& alu palya by the side and you are good to go. Their masala dose is also a popular item. Self service place and very efficiently managed.
Shruthi V
This is one of oldest dosa place, been having here since it was in bull temple road. Love their benne masala and Khali dosa. Usually be crowded, but the wait is worth.

Hotel Dwaraka

Synonymous with Kali Dosa and Masala Dosa, don't bother with second thoughts about what to order at their no frills restaurant. Crisp & topped with a dash of butter, the dosas paired with the chutney are what flock to Dwaraka for and coffee to wash it all down.

I tasted
• Idli & Vada - Soft & Hot Idli with Crispy Vada was a perfect combination with samabar.

• Khali Dosa - Lip smacking Khali Dosa. I had asked for extra Palya. It was perfect combination with Palya & Butter.

• Poori - Soft & Hot poori served with Saagu and chutney.

• Kesaribath - Mild & Sweet Pineapple Kesaribath. It was hot & perfect.

• Masala Dosa - Podi Masala Dosa was perfectly roasted and served with chutney.

Overall a perfect authentic South Indian Cusine Destination in the locality.

Food - 4/5
Cleanliness - 3/5
Infrastructure - 3/5
Service - 4/5
Ambience - 3/5

It’s indeed always a bliss to visit and try out the legendary dishes at legendary place and one amongst them is the dwarka.!

The Khali dose with butter and palya is the most well known here.

The other famous dishes here are puri sagu, idle vade, masale dose, pineapple kesari bath and many more.

Must try: Khali dose and puri

#rajeshwrites

A place that's always bustling with people.
A landmark in basavangudi.
Yummy dosas with their most popular chutney and aloo palya(dry sabzi) is definitely comfort food.
They also make some crisp, yummy vadas.
This place can never disappoint you for a delicious breakfast!

Dwarka Bhavan as it is famously know as from back in those days, is a Legendary outlets in the city.
Known for its very own style of South Indian food, has been catering to people for more than 3-4 decades. The old outlet on bull temple road was a go to place for my dad and us as a family when I was a kid.
The taste is still the same even after the move and upgrading and stuff. Ditto taste !!! Which is what I admire about the place most.
So the place is located in NR Colony just a few meters ahead of the turn towards tyagarajanagar road.
Ever busy place with comfortable seating options(as compared to the wooden tables & chairs in the old place). Always buzzing with people.
Their most famous and must try is the “Khali Dose & Palya with Benne” - an absolute treat. One of the softest dosas I’ve ever had !!! And their Chutney, my my probably one of the most tastiest and yummiest chutneys one can ever have. ( up there among the top 5, for sure ). The Chutney is liquidy and has coriander leaves floating always, very lightly spicy but it’s so damn tasty that one can drink it just like that. Infact the oldies who have been visiting this place for years have a unique way of eating the Khali doses - for every dose they pour a cup of the liquid Chutney onto the dose and let the dose get soaked in the Chutney, then apply Benne/butter over and have the dose with the very tasty potato & onion palya. One of the best things to have !!!
The other famous dishes are the - Rava Vada and tomato omelette. Pineapple Kesaribath is another favourite and a must have too.
The Benne Murukus are famous and till date taste the same.
One of those places which even after renovations has managed to maintain the same quality and taste.
A must visit for Dose lovers. A unique quality of South Indian Thindis indeed !!!
Legendary and one of my favourite places forever !!!

Very good dosa place.Love their Kali dosa masala Dosa. Always crowded. Very affordable.Quick service.Very tasty. Love their carrot halwa too. Its a very old hotel.

An age old hotel of Basavanagudi. Before moving to the place they are in, about 8yra back or So, they used to be on the Bull Temple Road.

Their famous khali dosa is still the same. Fluffy, oil less and tasty. Their aloo palya is kind of ok-ok, along with this khali dosas. But their trade mark watery chutney is still great. Refills of this watery chutney keeps happening as their staff keep a moving around the hotel checking their guests for a refill.

Ended up with a delicious cup of coffee. No match to this.

Worth the visit.
Sriharikrishna Madhukar
A legendary place in Basavanagudi, this place doles out some good breakfast options. I tried the famous benne dose and kesaribath. Both were about above average. Many old timers feel the place has lost its old charm. Nevertheless it is worth a visit to savor some delicious breakfast
Nandini Rao
Old school joint, still lives upto the charm. One of the best Khali Dose’s. Do try their masala dose too. The palya (Potato Filling) was very flavourful. Tip: Ask for benne for the khali Dose. They charge extra.
This is one of the legendary place in South Bangalore. Located opp Hanumanth nagar bus stop. Known for it's spongy Khali dosa , pineapple kesari bath and Masala dose. It's all mouth watering and much more better than it's competitors like Vidyarti Bhavan etc in cost wise, quantity wise and tase as well. If you are foodie you should visit here once.
Rahull Borana
Decent South Indian place. Known for it's khaali dose with benne(butter) and palya. Chutney is what i liked here. This is the best thing on the menu. Except this everything else is average and the carrot halwa is overrated and overpriced. Light on the pocket.
Prajwal
One among the iconic places in Basavanagudi. The kpb which is khaali Palya benne is the best dish according to my knowledge which is priced at 46rs for 2 dosas. Heavily crowded and demand gets more n more as the evening passes. Visit here to relish a delicious taste of dosa.
Sunil Nataraj
A pride of Basavangudi. This restaurant has been operational from many years even before I started eating dosas.
This is the #1 restaurant for soft and tasty Khali Dosa. The Rava Vada and Pineapple Kesari Bath are other items I like.
The watery chutney is best when you eat it poured on top of the Dosa rather than on the sides.
If you love dosas, this is a place to visit !!
Aditya Kesari
My fav place for dosaa. I have been going to this place since I was six yrs old n I have never been disappointed.
👍👍😍 Quick service n very well organised.

Another iconic, legendary eatery in Basavanagudi, their offerings are limited, but their specialty is Khali dose, which comes in different combinations, First is standard Khali dose, other is Khali dose with benne, another is Khali dose with Palya. They also have option to buy Single Khali (only 1 dose). Chutey is served with all of the above mentioned combinations, The doses are soft, fluffy. The best way to eat these khali doses are one must dip the dose in watery chutney rather than just scooping a bit of the same. One must follow this technique to enjoy the complete taste of khali doses here. The other item which is must have here is Rava Vade, crispy & Soft, Yes Crispy from outside, Inside soft. Their other items which one must try is Rava Idli, Kharabath & Kesaribath. A person has been dedicated to enquire & Serve chutney to customers.

The gentlemen who are the cash counter are very experienced and manages the customers well, guiding them about the items & combinations. The guys managing the service counter needs a special mention here, amazing people management skills, They also have 5-6 tables arranged where people can sit & eat.
Naveen Bl
Their Khaali dosas are good but the crowds make the experience hellish. Get parcel instead. The distinctive chutney has fresh strands of corriander .
Vaishnavi Vasanth Joshi
This place is my dad's favorite, he has spent most of his early days making a number of visits to this place. Whenever we happen to cross Basavanagudi, this is a must visit stop for us. In most of our visits here I have always loved the Kali dosa and chutney teamed with coffee. The taste never differs ,its always mouth watering! For anybody who wants to taste the authentic south Indian food this would be top on the recommendation list.
Raj Kiran
Another legendary place in basvanagudi where only the food quality can be measured rather than the ambience. Their set dosa's is a must and with extra butter it's even better. However, I wasn't totally impressed with their masala dosa as I've had better in other places. These places are their from ages in bangalore which makes them a must visit places for foodies.
Mahi At Peace
This is a very old place in South Bangalor and this was initially in Bull temple road. They had even put up a board in the hotel where it said chutney will not be given more than 2 or 3 times.. It was famous for that. If anything is there to go by its only the Khali Dosa. Khali Dosa's are soft and pluffy.. Thanks to the soda they end up adding. Taste wise, its good and no complaints on that. Their Chutney is good too.. 34/- for a plate of Khali Dosa and for extra sagu or potato palya, its 6/- extra. Usually crowded and it's manned well. The senior citizens manning this hotel take care of it in every possible way. Rest of the dosa's like Masala/ Onion and Tomato are ok ok and nothing to rave about. The quantity is less when it comes to their rice batch and Khara bath and for that quantity, its quite pricey. Idly n vada are something that u can miss and you won't regret. Anytime u plan to have a khali dosa, this is the place!!
Manikanta Cb
I am a dosa lover n dis place is the right choice for Khali dosa. They are specialised for making the benne Khali and the green chutney. It's definitely a delicacy n the best breakfast one can always get. Over the years they have retained the quality coz I have been eating here from a long time. They have a few special items like rava vada, bajjis on specific days. Rava vada is splendid here. Other dishes are fine here and it's a worth a visit place in blore.
Nsmcyberdude
This place is a successor to the Dwarka on Bull temple road which was also called “Board hotel”. Known for kaali dose.
Went to this place at Gandhibazar / NR Colony near Katte baLaga.
The easy go leisurely joint on Bull temple road has been converted to busy “Darshini” type joint. Hated the place for this reason. However, they have maintained the taste of their famous kaali dose. It was superb and remained a highlight of an otherwise irritating busy Darshini experience. They can bring in the organised way of Brahmins cafe and maintain the Darshini style. The experience will be simply superb
Sachi Is Veggie
One of the legendary places in Basavanagudi well known for its benne khali dose. Very affordable, healthy and delicious but is always crowded. It is very hard to find a place to sit just grab your plate and get done with finishing your food. Avoid going in large numbers.
The dosa is soft and spongy, ideal for infants and old ppl. A small dollop of butter with their spicy chutney and potato palya is a match made in heaven. One plate has 2 dosas and is very filling. One can also opt for a single dosa and try something else. The pineapple kesaribath, avrekalu uppitu, vada, masale dose are other items available. In the evenings they have mangalore bonds and other bajjis. Wash is all down with a cup of hot filter coffee. The prices are all very affordable. I am a regular here for breakfast.
Aruna
Overly hyped place.Very basic tasting idli n kali dosa. The chutney was so salty. And I feel bloated after eating here so I m sure they have added soda in the batter
Srinivas Bellamkonda
been here for their iconic khali dosa, as reviewers suggested so. they don't disappoint anyone I think. amazingly soft dosa and palya. thank you zomato
Suraksha
Few years back this hotel was in Bull temple road, it was the breakfast place for all the BASE students. Now it is in N.R.Colony, it is opposite to Katte Balaga which is pretty easy to locate.

Ambience - It is a small self-service eatery. There is a seating area which can accommodate about 20 people, for others there are few high tables on which can keep your plate and eat while you stand. The ambience of their previous location was much better, it had a old rustic look and it was much more spacious with a lot of seating area.

Service - there are two people who issue the token for food so they can manage the crowd better. The same person explains the dish if you have any doubts and also suggests what to order if you are confused. The service at the food counter is fast, give your token (no need to mention anything) and just wait for about 5mins for your food to arrive. There is one staff who serves extra chutney, he is very agile! Whenever you about to finish your chutney he immediately comes and serves some more.

Food - I always have Khali Dose so this time also I ordered the same. Along with it I ordered Aloo palya and Butter as a add-on which costed a few extra bucks but it was totally worth it! You get 2 Dose in one plate of Khali Dose which are pretty well size. The Dose is thick yet so light and soft. The chutney is so good that you don't need Sambar.

You will like the food here if you know what to order, not everything on the menu is good so just choose wisely!

Another old timer! Another legend with its own mark on Bengaluru’s food scene!

Food / Drink - Khali Dose. Rave Vade. Coffee. That’s my go to menu. You get other things like chow chow bath, Dose varieties, Idly etc. But then, this is not the place for those!

Price - Reasonable. But would remind you of inflation. Particularly if you have been to this restaurant when it was run from a location in bull temple road! You will not complain though.

Service - Brilliant. Long queues can make getting to your khali Dose a test of your patience. But well worth it. But then why brilliant? You are served with unlimited watery and delicious chutney as you devour your khali Dose!

Ambience - Not like its original location where it was almost a decade ago. But it’s building it’s own charm. Thanks to people of Bengaluru!

Location - NR Colony main road. The large blue board is not easy to miss.

Parking - Street.

Speciality - Khali Dose. Rave Vade.

Must try? - YES. You shouldn’t pass on legendary food outlets!

Pro tip - Just yell ‘chutneeeeyyy’ as you gorge on your Dose, you’d see your plate magically being filled with chutney in no time!
Vishal Bharadwaj
A legend losing its charm spotted! One of the most famous eateries of Basavanagudi/N R colony area is no longer the same. This place deserved a 5 especially a few years ago. People still throng at this legend for its not anymore the same Khali dosa with Palya and butter. Chow chow bath is decent. The pineapple Kesaribath seems kinda special still.

Ambiance: 3/5
Food: 4/5
Service: 4/5
Value for money: 4/5

Magnificent Khali Dosa. Awesome Kesari Bath and Rava Vada.Eating here for more than 20 yrs. The taste remains same (Not even a slight change).

You buy the Khali Dosa and sit down (can't wait to dig into it), Take a piece of dosa and put it on the chutney (literally the Dosa soaks up most of the chutney) and then it's all Heaven in the mouth.. The Best Khali Dosa I ever had.

I Love their Kesari Bath, Rava vada and filter coffee too.

Man I feel like going there right now :). Must try if have not already.

Food: 5/5
Service: 5/5
Ambiance: Rating for Ambiance does not matter. Just enjoy their legendary Khali Dosa.
Value for Money: 5/5

Really awesome Khali & Masala dosa's. really loved the taste. Also their other menu items are also great. Just loved their chutney really awesome. But their cost is a bit on the higher side.
Sahana Murthy
Another legendary and iconic food place in Bangalore which you cannot miss by any chance. It's jam packed all the time and they've maintained their service and taste since ages.

Their khali dose is to die for. The dose is so fluffy and light that you can easily have 4 at a time. Their chutney is another mind-blowing item. It's prepared fresh all throughout the day.

Recently I tried their masala dose and I was blown away by the taste of it. It was super crispy and the Alu palya was amazing. Love the filter coffee which tastes just like my grandma's house coffee.

I feel so low to talk about this legendary place and these places do not need any review or recognition. They've set their benchmark and have been maintaining their consistency.
Koushik Grama
Amazing khali dose and poori sagu and excellent Brahmin cooking of breakfast! A very clean and hygienic serving! Coffee is awesome! Run by oldies but foood is a real goldie!

Relish the basavangudi's best Khali dosa melting in your mouth .

Apart from Khali dosa , Carrot halva is really delicious.

Rest of the snacks seems to be average.

Came here based on one of my friends recommendation for the Khali dosa and was in for a treat. Located very much near the NR colony bus stand this is a place worth the visit.

Without further delay ordered the Khali dosa and got within a couple of minutes from the time I gave the bill.

I am a first timer for the Khali dosa, and I am very much glad that I tried it at this place.

For first timers like me, It's not like the one you get in ctr or taaza thindi wherein the outer layer is crispy but the inner layer is soft.

The Khali dosa here is so soft that if you soak it in the chutney for more than a couple of seconds then you won't get it in a single piece. In a word "divine".

Normally I have the disappointment when the chutney is diluted, but this dosa is meant to be had with such a chutney for the best experience.

Kesaribath is too good here, simply flawless. With the finely diced pineapple and a good aroma of ghee and clove, served at a warm temperature. I couldn't ask for more.

The ambience is pretty decent, not much seating available so you have to stand and eat. It's just a bit noisy since the kitchen is very near to the dining area.

Service is really good here, they have employed people who serve chutney to the people who don't get a seat too. So basically you get a place to stand /sit and start munching without any worries.

Pricing is very cheap here, two butter Khali dosa for forty is definitely the best price you can possibly get.

If there was a place for dine in for family or at least a better seating(even with a higher pricing) I'd have given this one 5/5.

Overall this place is definitely worth travelling from one end of the city for their Khali dosas.

FOOD - 4.5/5
AMBIENCE - 3.5/5
SERVICE - 4.5/5
PRICE - 4.5/5

Visited this place as suggested by my mom who had come here years back, It felt like a really busy restaurant with a welcoming ambience, I really liked the way they pour the chutney into the plates and also the waiter coming to serve chutney every 10-15 mins. The Khali dosa is their signature dish and the masala dosa is mildly spicy so i had those two and it was worth it. This is very to nice restaurant to come by and i am pretty sure it wont disappoint you.

I just love this place! The dosas are softer than any given sponge cake!!! And the chutney, oh my God I am drooling over it as I type.

Benne Khali Dosa is a MUST TRY!

Advise: let the Khali Dosa soak in as much as chutney it wants and then eat it and feel it melt in your mouth. Enjoy amigos!!!

I used to go to dwarka with my granddad when it was in bull Temple Road...i still remember that taste of set dosa with chutney was just brilliant .... Then they shifted to nr colony and have eaten there quite a few times and the taste is exactly the same..... The set dosas and khali dosas here are one of the best in bangalore I must say....and they also have a nice masala dosa and other breakfast items.... But the set dosa with a nice cup of coffee for an early morning breakfast is just ecstatic....

Very few restaurants make perfect Khali Dosa and Dwarka is one of them. One plate consists of 2 khali dosa with unlimited delicious chutney (their is a guy who comes to each one of you asking for extra chutney). One can also prefer to eat with potato palya which is optional with extra cost. Khali dosa is made without oil, yet the taste is not compromised and it was lips smacking. Pineapple Kesari bath is toothsome and the filter coffee was spot on. Dwarka is a very old restaurant and i remember the name from my school days. Its a typical old style authentic south indian hotel.

The chutney is to die for! Dwarka has some amazing line up of typical Sputh Indian brekfast or 'tiffin' options. While it is easy to stand and eat, it is quite difficult to spot a no rush time to visit tbe place. The khaali dose is very tasty!

Finally tried Dwarka couple of weeks back for Sunday breakfast after a walk in Lalbagh. The place was packed and I quickly realized why. The idlies and Kali dosas were lipsmacking. Special mention for the sambar and chutney which is served generously by a waiter carrying a bucket. Coffee too didn't disappoint. Can't wait to visit again.

Khali dosa turns out to be the best
Also try poori and sagu
Rava vada was quite ok
Rava idly would be another suggestion
And the service is amazing
You will love this place if you are a dosa lover. Hotel Dwaraka is one of the oldest hotels located in one of the prime areas. My favorite is Khali dosa. The taste of chatni lingers in your mouth for a long time. The blend of dosa and chatni is one of the best taste you could relish. I would recommend everyone for this place.

Finally tasted the famous Khali Dosa was surprised to find a good crowd @ 6.30 PM that really showed what this place is all about.. Tasted their Khali Dosa only dint find the time to take pics as I devoured the Dosa before I could realise the same :-P came with a dollop of butter, chutney and masal soft and fluffy was pretty light on the stomach and the pocket as well. Do try it out if anywhere in the locality parking can be an issue as I found it difficult to park my bike on a weekday so expect maximum crowd on weekends here.

A regular place whenever we decide to have breakfast or an evening snack. Their trademark item is Khaali Dosa served with Pallya/Saagu which some old timers say that the taste hasn't changed for the last couple of decades. Avarekaalu Upittu & Pineapple Kesaribath is their another delicacy which is worth mentioning.

Weekends attract a mad rush in this place.., otherwise on any given day you can get Khali Dosa in about 10 - 15 minutes. Rava Vada is served hot and crispy and is always another must to have in this restaurant.

One more off my bucket list.
If its Khali Dosa it has to be here.
The upma also tasted good.
We visited this place only for Khali Dosa, happy with the taste and worth it.
Surely visiting again if I am around this place.

Being one of the oldest hotels in Bangalore, it still continues to be among the top dosa joints in town! I've been here infinitely many times and the taste hasn't varied one bit. It offers you the lip smacking dosas and mouth watering chutney. Their open benne dose is definitely the best in Bangalore. Highly recommend it!
Ajit Bhaskar
One of the older joints in Bangalore. The ambience is that of a typical darshini but is feels more open in terms of space. There is a coat/umbrella stand at the entrance that gives it a very retro/vintage look :)
They are known for their kaLi dosas and they are good. You get 2 pieces for 30Rs and a friendly gentleman serves you chutney from a bucket to replenish your plate as many times as you like. KaLi dosa is different. It is thick, almost like a pancake, but softer and pillowier. Their kaapi is also alright. Overall, good, clean place with good food!

Benne khali dose , pineapple kesri bath . puliyogre and coffee super break fast . charged extra for palya ( potato fry ) and benne ( butter ). pocket friendly . car parking problem .
Food: 3.5
Ambience: 2.5
service : self service :)

The food is really great in here. All the dosas and other dishes are very tasty respectfully. One negative point about this place is that the staff are really arrogant. Once i was at the hotel and i saw a customer asking for gatti chutney, then the self service counter guy did not agree to serve him. Bad thing is thet staff guy argued like a jerk with the customer and the customer was really embarassed and left the hotel. Funny thing is the owners who are seated right next to the self service counter saw the entire scene and didn't give a shit about it.

One of the oldest hotel in basavanagudi, in the same league as Vidyarthi Bhavan or Brahmin's coffee bar.

This place is famous for its Khali dose and worth a try. And the rave vade - crispy and tasty.
The rest is usual south Indian dishes.

Doesn't have the old charm in their new location.

Cleanliness is a concern.
Gastronomer
Though this seems enclosed in a small compact space now and was more popular in its older location, the standard of the food has not gone down at all. Visited here twice recently and was extremely happy with how great tasting everything was. This could be on the list along with Vidyarthi bhavan and Brahmins cafe as best of south Bangalore.
Sunil Bharadwaj
I've been to this place a couple of times now. It has failed to impress me. By this I do not say the food here is bad, all I'm saying is that it's not in the same league of Brahmin's, Vidyarthi Bhavan or Davengere benne dose place in Basavanagudi.
The best item on their menu is the khali dose/set dose, if you a pay a little extra you'll be given saghu with it. The other items that I have had on their menu is idly vada, masala dose, khara bath, kesri bath and filter coffee.
The sambar and chutney are average and i have had much better sambar and chutney in the city. Masala dose is roasted too much and at times it's like papad. Khara bath quantity is so less that you can finish it in two spoons.
On the whole this place is a let down for me. I know it's been there for a long time and a few old timers might disagree with my review but honestly it's not in the same league as few of its counterparts in the same locality and I definitely wouldn't suggest it to people.

An old Bangalore Udupi hotel is what Dwarka is all about.

The khali dosas is the star item and the next are the masala dosas. Rest are usual. In face there are a handful of places that serve khali dose these days.

The place scores lower on cleanliness and their ability to serve the weekend crowd.

Go early and enjoy the experience

This was one of the best place to eat set dosa/khali dosa in basavangudi in 90s. It was a sad moment when they had to move out of their old setup in the old house on bull temple road which was probably older than basavanagudi itself. This place was always over-shadowed by Vidyarthi bhavan, but personally I liked this better because of the warm service and their old classical setup. Especially the waiter used to walk around with a chutney vessel with a broad smile and pamper us with unlimited chutney. This new outlet has lost the charm and USP because the interiors are nothing special/classical. Though the taste of the food has not changed much, these guys are in tough completion in south Bangalore where there are too many options for the kind of food they make.
Shweta
One of the best hotel for khali dosa . Spongy dosa dipped in chutney takes you to a different world . Only downside is that sitting place is very limited for the number of customers this hotel caters too .
Reshmi AR
Pocket friendly tasty food. Kaali Dose is a must try, The place is one of the oldest, but quality wise nothing has changed.

Food: 4
Service: 3.5
Ambience: 3.5

This hotel has been around for a while. Famous for its dosas and vadas, this place is always packed with people.
The food is good and attracts the older generations for its simplicity.
Do eat the dosa here if u want some good south-indian food.
Hemanth R
The hotel is known for its famous South Indian breakfasts...The upma, kesaribath, vada and idli are good.
Have 4 varieties of dosa and filter coffee is good
Breakfast for 2 costs Rs 150/-
Parking problem...need to maintain more hygiene
Bit crowded during peak hours
Apoorva
One more restaurant serving typical South Indian food with a very simple menu. It's khaali dose and rava vade are worth trying. The food is worth the money and totally reasonable.
Shrihari Rao
I felt this was over hyped restaurant. Kaali dosa was good. But rest of the items idly, vadas and masala dosas were average. Nothing great. Just the usual darshana type.
Aditya
This one is giving us tasty Kaali Dosas since ages.
This is the best in the city for kaali dosas. The Neeru(water) chutney is what it's known for.
The plain and the Masala dosas are great too. The coffee didn't taste that good. There was presence of water in coffee.

Baths are worth dying here..!! Chow chow.., rice bath are lovely and heavenly..!!!!! Old and legendary and authentic..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vilas Anikar
This is the first time I visited after they moved from bull temple road to N R colony, I must say it was worth the visit as you get the softest Kaali Dosa , should have it with Aloo palya and butter, chutney is served at your plate , had uddina vada which was oily, not the best day I guess, filter coffee was ok , overall good experience , but best Kaali Dosa
in the whole of bangalore south.

To get a taste of Marshmallow like melt in the mouth Dosa/Dosai you gotta binge on Khali Benne Dosa in Hotel Dwaraka in Basavanagudi.I really wonder what makes the Dosa here insanely suck the watery chutney like a sponge sucking water. There is waiter crisscrossing around with a bucketful of Chutney to generously pour Chutney to finish the ever absorbing Dosa's. This Dosai/Dosa is a wonder I have encountered and its something worth encountering often. My suggestion for Dosa here is Khali Benne Dosa and I'm sure my fellow foodies will thank me after trying it.
Taste 5/5, Value for money 4.5/5, Service 3/5 and Ambiance 3/5.

Most famous for their set dose.
One of my favourites, visiting since childhood(this place is newer one, that relocated few years back)
Seating is a problem... Except that it's a perfect veggie south Indian thindi place
Raghu Ramesh
I love to write this awesome place a review, been coming here for last two and half decades and the taste has still remained in changed. They are the best place to have khali dose in Bangalore. The wait is always worth and I don't care about my vehicle parking ;)

NO complaints though... Is this very old traditional namma Bengaluru hotel remember to be here right from my childhood days, don't remember if I had been there then... But my curiosity and zomato rating pulled me here..... Cash counter and services definitely will make you recall those old days, their interaction, token deliver, service is all old style... I had the masal dosa and rava vada but it looked they were famous for kali dosa as couple see each other plates with only that the plain dosa... Masal dosa tasted good the old style so was the aroma, but the vada was okay not that great like maddur vada... Definitely the elder and some younger generation may like it... But for me this will just be an othere alternative as down the line you have South Kitchen and Upahar Darshan for the modern trend....

Super soft khaali dosa with dollops of butter on top... mouth watering, rava vada krispy on outside and softer inside melts in d mouth..one of d old hotel in bull temple road, now shifted to NR colony...

Hotel Dwarka has been one of the underrated darshini's in Basavangudi. The place is quite a reminiscent of Old Bangalore and doesnt seem to disappoint a fan of south indian cuisine.

I can say that their USP is the Chutney and Khaali Dosa's which are a must try for everyone. Besides they also serve crispy brown Rava Vada's and Tomato Uttappam which is a rare item available these days in other darshinis (they call it omlet but i personally disapprove that word in a darshini).

Seasonal specialties like Avrekai Uppittu are my personal favorites. There is a larger variety in their morning breakfast and none of them will disappoint you. A frequent place for a regular Basavangudian and a must visit for the folks coming from elsewhere.

Dwarka place of sree krishna..

This hotel dwarka is located near to South kitchen and katte balaga basavanagudi..

I was here today sunday morning for breakfast with my family..
OMG it was so crowded and not even place to stand and collect food.
I somehow managed to collect kale dosa, kara bath and coffee from that crowd.

Kale dosa was smooth, soft and tasty.
Kara bath was also nice, but it's too less in quantity.

I was not knowing that we need to pay extra for aloo palya and benne.
We just enjoyed kale dosa as is with chatney.

Ambiance : 3 Its a small place, but there is no management and plan for customer happiness. There is no plan or system for placing order or collecting food.
Taste : 3.5
service : 1
Rate : 2.5 Kara bath rate is 18Rs but quantity served is very very less...

Enjoy your fooood..

I have been living near by N.R colony for past 18 years and it was 3 years ago that I first tried out the delicacies at Dwarka. Thanks to my father for taking me out to this place. It is another Darshini style restaurant in South Bangalore and it is neatly maintained.

So as said I had been out to this place with my father and fell in love with the Khali dosa and Rava vada! Though the chutney being usual, when had with the Dosa or Vada, it just adds on to the flavours. Masala Dosa is another amazing dish.
Though being "An idli fan", I always end up eating the Dosas here. And yes the Coffeeeee is heavenly.

The place crowded during the evenings, but the service is quick though. And I must say the food is worth the money we pay for.

I would like to rate this restaurant in the following manner:

Food, taste - 4.25/5 - 0.25 for the Rava vada!
Ambiance (Cleanliness) - 3.75/5
Service - 3.75/5
Value for money - 4.5/5

If near by Basavanagudi, please do try coming to this place and have lip smacking South Indian dishes.
