One of the best filter coffees in south Bangalore !
Very reasonable prices and don’t miss to have the Idli and vada with chutney !
The taste is unparalleled and also one of the few places open from pretty early in the morning.
The vada is the best partner in crime to make your belly happy with the coffee , the crispy vada and the hot coffee almost compose a symphony in your throat making your soul hum to the beats !

I would say this is one of THE authentic Namma Bengaluru delicacy, I went to have Idly, but ended up having many more… It’s a must visit place… Here you actually get “Khara Bath” and “Uppitu”, I haven’t come across many hotels and restaurants serving both as these two dishes taste differently… unfortunately I couldn’t have these two because my tummy was so full…
Prashanth Srinivasaiah
Idli, vada n chutney was very good. Would recommend surely this place for all. Avalakki n Bisi Bele bath was more on sweeter size, would have even better if it was little spicy..

No onion, no garlic restaurant: One of the tastiest South Indian kitchens that deliver extremely affordable, authentic South Indian food. Loved the crispy Vada. Savige Bhath is a must try. It is very very light and non sticky. Loved bisibelle bhath and khara bhath too. Bisibelle bhath has a sweet but really lovely taste. The prices start from as cheap as Rs. 12. The entire menu is just under Rs. 44. Filter coffee and gulab jamun have to be tried for sure. This places has the softest of gulab jamuns. Service is pretty quick. Street side parking is available. The staff is friendly too. A self service restaurant which is really good for a quick bite. No onion, no garlic restaurant, no sambhar but still the food is top notch. The quality of food is really good. Serious hygiene is maintained and continuous cleaning of food counter takes place.

One of the lightest, tastiest shavige baths in town. Fantastic banana kesaribath. Their huli or gojjavalakki is out of this world. Idli vadE is great and the chutney is stellar. Good filter kaapi as well. They have introduced haalbai to their menu as well. They make it in many flavours. Light, fresh, simple, pocket friendly food. Absolutely fantastic place. Quintessential Bengaluru darshini :)
Manjunatha Balakrishna
Tasty and Healthy breakfast options are available which is made of millets.
Other than that idli vade , upma and South Indian breakfast are available.

This place is seriously underrated ! One of the best idlis and the best chutney I have had in Bengaluru. The idlis are so soft they will fall apart if you lift them up and the chutney pairs perfectly with it. They do use a bit of mint in the coconut chutney which makes it so refreshing. Vada was equally good , crispy on the outside and soft inside. Definitely must try.
Santosh Gorantla
Closest and adjacent to NR Colony bus stop. South Kitchen has excellent Idly, crispy Vada and chutney which are quick bites. Additionally you get Shavige bath, Khara bath too..

This is a small darshini style restaurant which is at a walking distance from NR colony bus stop. Had idly , huli avalakki(gojju avalakki) and tea here. Food was good here. They don't use onion or garlic for cooking . Service was quick. There are 3 - 4 tables and we have stand and eat. It was crowded when I went. This restaurant is closed on Sunday's.

Well.. South Bangalorean resident and giving this a miss is definitely not acceptable :)on ma way to work on a Tuesday morning.. Noticed this super cool clean tidy shining fast food joint located in the heart of Nr colony road.. ( opp the bus stand..couple of roads behind the chai point) and immediately decided in my head that this needs to get on my visited list.. Started on Monday October 20th..this super neat south Indian joint is bustling with ppl and creating waves.. Idli chutney, Vada chutney, kharabath, kesari bath and coffee/tea ( all in the price range of 10-25₹) ..I tasted their super crisp vada with the tasty chutney..and a cup of tea.. I would ve tasted other items too but not for now due to a bad stomach. There are clear boards indicating the chutney section, food , coffee tea, drinking water, wash basin et al.. Super shining restaurant.. The owner is too humble and was glad to show me around the grinding section, store room and the kitchen.. Well organized, cleanly maintained..that you don't ve to worry about the hygiene.. You're doing a fabulous job,team.. Thank you Sanjay & team..will visit you soon:)

Wow.. Rewriting the review after my Second visit here.. I am totally impressed with the hygiene, food quality, taste and Service too..
As per our foodie friends suggestions visited again today and it was crowded too.
I was pretty impressed with the prices in this beautiful restaurant, price of Idly is 20 rupees and Vada is 14 rupees and Kara bath is 15.
We can fill our stomach for 40 bucks.
About the taste it's just "Amazing" with the Soft Idly, Crispy Vada, Hot Karabath and Mouth Watering Chutney.
Only Sathvik restaurant in our locality for authentic breakfast.
I strongly recommend this restaurant for everyone.

Good place for thindi or snacks for evening and early morning!!
Gurudatta Kūḍli
All food items are very tasty here!! Prices are normal and not expensive. No usage of onion and garlic in any dishes is the highlight..The hotel is located near NR Colony, Basavangudi which is the one of the traditional attractive places which gives the real feeling of Bengaluru. Every time I am near NR Colony, I would love to eat or taste a cup of tea here..

Amazing idly vada & excellent coffee
Mahi At Peace
This is based on my experience and obervation.
This evening, I came to your hotel to get some parcel for my family members and also to have something there. The total bill was 54/- and the cashier (Little plump with a moustache) asked for 4 /- change, which I didnt have. He was very rude to me and said we don't have change either and for 1,2 and 4/- you have to bring change with a constipated facial expression.. Wanted to give me chikki (Ground nut candy) which I denied as a subsitute for real money. Then he gave me 55/- and a 1/- chocolate!!!!! Ridiculous. First and foremost, the guy has got not customer centric attitude and I wanted to give a piece of my mind. But then considering the number of people waiting behind me made me ignore him and just move on. While collecting my food, he was then having an argument with an elderly person whose age would be approximately 70/-. The argument was pretty nasty and I could see the cashier shouting at the customer in a very bad manner.. When he was shouting at the customer, his facial expression was worst than his other wise cheap face. Two things here.
1 : You guys are running a restaurant here and you need to have the change to give to the customers and not the other way round. Giving a chocolate or chikki is not the solution. If I collect 10 such chikkis and chocolates and give it the next time when I come in exchange for food, will you accept that ? I really doubt you would. In that case, what rights does it give you to give these chocolates as an substitute for 1 /- and 2 /- ? Are you thinking now, if not then please start thinking. Why this attitude towards customers ? or is it that you are taking us for GRANTED ?
2 : CUSTOMER is everything for you guys. Treat them well. Not taking care of customers is like not treating your GOD with the required respect. The way the guy was shouting at the elderly customer was really PATHETIC.. He was of his father's age and this is how he acts. How come the cashier is having the audacity to get back at customers all of a sudden ? This was not the behaviour from any of you guys when the hotel was newly opened. I mean you guys were nice with a smile on your face and it felt really good. Looks like NAME that you have now and looking a the CROWD that's keeps coming to your place has made you take us for GRANTED... Seriously SHIT. The word PATHETIC that I have used is actually an understatement for the sccene that I saw today. There were couple of customer's who said the same exact thing that I have written above.. They felt that the good name that you guys have got from these customers have made you feel that you all are invincibles and hence treating the customers like this.. See, am not the only one thinking like that. V R THE CUSTOMERS because of whom you guys EXIST.
As a professional blogger, I will certainly take this up with the rest of the social circles and will share this experience. If you have any bit of customer centricity left in you guys then I'd urge you to look in to this and do the needful.

Went here for a quick breakfast we order idly vada , karabath , navane bisibelebath , jamun & also coffee n tea.. but yea even though it’s a simple breakfast it was crowded and hardly any space to move around.. but the billing and food service was quite fast despite the crowd.. and they have only Green or coconut chutney for idly, vada they don’t offer Samanar.. taste wise really good but the hand wash area and drinking water place looks a little unhygienic.. but that just net picking you shud go and try there food.. real VFM

Good place for morning breakfast and evening snacks.
Idlis and vada's are Smooth and crispy with lots of freshness when severed with coconut chutney.
Uppitu is taste top as its cooked with coconut oil.
You can see only below limited menu's
- Idli and vada
- Uppitu
- Khara bath and naavne bath
- Shavige bath
- Jamoon
- Tea/Coffee

Location: NR Colony bus stop, katte balaga, Basavangudi

Normally I order from this Restaurant regularly. Today I received a blank calls from unknown number. When I call back multiple times some guy picks up and when the conversation takes south he started abusing. After some digging I came to know it's the number listed for this restaurant here. What the heck is that? Zomato says there is no call support. You guys at zomato --- better close your service guys. You can't expect the customer to feed everything through message in live chat. I think I will have to write on these things to MCA. How your company in listed in under MCA and you guys have no phone support???
Vignesh B.S.
Ordered one Item delivered another item. No action taken. Raised the information through App. But No Action Taken. The Chutney was too spicy could not eat.

Excellent food, quick service, Idlis and Karabath a must try. Mostly crowded. Try the filter coffee. They have millet bisibela bath. A very healthy food
Vaibhav
Food is good but the cashier/guy who sits on counter is cheater don't know how to talk with customers, he is ill-mannered ,sick minded, idiot and rude fellow, don't have ethics to deal with customers, and serving staff is pathetic and no cleanliness at all, except these things everything is good
Bhargavi Shamuk
Ambiance - Always packed with people. Simple self service space.

Service - Thoroughly professional staff. Quick service. Quick cleaning and clearing.

Price - They earn every bit they charge. Very moderately priced.

Taste - I tasted the following items :

Idlis - Were soft and served hot right out of the steamer. The chutney is of a lighter consistency and right level spicy which goes perfectly well with the idlis.
They don't serve sambar however.

Vada - Again served with chutney and not sambar. They're crispy and taste very good. The tastiest vadas I've eaten in a long time.

Gulab jamoon - It tasted good. I would have liked it much more if it was a little less sweeter than it was served.

Tea - Good

An ideal breakfast outlet in Bangalore.... This place serves some nice idlis, vada, khara and Kesari bath. A good place to hangout after an early morning walk in South Bangalore. The only drawback about this place according to me is that they don't serve sambhar.
Prateek Gundecha
Idli, Vada and Chutney are the show stealers. Other items on the menu like shavige bath, puliyogare, etc. can be skipped. So far best Idli Vada joint in the vicinity of NR Colony and it is located just next to NR Colony Bus Stop.
Ankita
I love shavige bhat and this is the 6th time I'm ordering from this outlet. I assure you they make the best shavige bhat on this planet. I love it. 6th order and till date not even once got disappointed. It's just perfect. The quantity, the taste it's delicious and refreshing.
Most importantly non oily. I had ordered from many other restaurants but most time either they are dripping oil, or the amount of lemon is too high, some even add raw vinegar and I end up disposing most of it because it makes me throw up.
But from here it's just the way I want it to be. Perfectly made.
Taste 5/5
Love forever.
Raghavendra R M
No non-sense breakfast place with awesome food. Limited menu options but whatever they serve is delicious. They don't use ginger and garlic, so no sambar. This is one more Brahmins coffee bar style hotel with its own flair. Must try items - Idli vada and Huli avalakki
Thejas Ks
Very low quantity for the value of money. Especially, the navane bath. And preparation time is also more. For 50 rupees, the quantity is less.
Chinnu
Best Brahmins hotel in Bangalore,
Food is really awesome,
Value for money,
Taste is good,
Healthy food,

Price: 4/5.
Service: 3.5/5.
Taste: 4/5.
Avanthika Chaithanya
Another Brahmins cafe like place. Food is amazing. Soft fluffy idly and crispy Vada with that yummy chutney. It’s a standing only place so I recommend takeaway. Bring your own boxes for takeaway. Great breakfast.

Bangalore can never fall short of breakfast places. Having lived here for 25 years, I can safely say, South Kitchen, which ofcourse is a recent addition to the breakfast scene in South Bangalore does a great job at providing some delicious authentic idlis and vadas. A plate full of idle vade to go with a hot frothy steaming cup of filter coffee, is a treat to the taste buds and one of the best ways one can begin a morning in this city.
The prices are nominal, the quantity sufficient and the taste top notch. In terms of ambience, its like any other fast food, you are served within minutes and if it isnt a rush hour you can find a table on which you can rest your plate as you eat. Ofcourse, you can also choose the option to have the meal in the comfort of your car. But I would suggest to eat amidst the hustle bustle of the fast food.
Gautam Sameer
This is just one of the best place in Basavanagudi to have healthy breakfast. They are open from 7am IST.

The USP of this place is their steaming yummy idlis and crispy tasty vadas which go like they are wedded to the delicious chutney.

Yes chutney! This place doesn't cook anything with onion or garlic. So there you can't expect Sambhar, but trust Me, their menu is mouth watering.

Other than This, they make uppittu, kharabath, kesaribath along with millet bisi bele bath, coconut mustard seeds seasoned poha (kai sasive avalakki), rice vermicelli.

Each and every item on this menu is just out of the world.

You just can't get out of this place without sipping their delicious cup of fresh filter kaapi.

This is again a IDLY-CHUTNEY joint in Bangalore, it was started 2to3 years back, it's very good hygienic food available here, VERY TASTY, the place as many options and it's really very good and reasonable

Must try this place
Kshama Bhat
One of the best place for breakfast! Tried Upma, Navane bisibelebath, vada and sweetbath. Navane bath a unique mouthwatering dish! The sweetbath reminded me of the Satyanarayana Pooja sweet (ಸಪಾದ). Total paisa vasool :)
Ganesh N.H.
Idly was very good and even the chutney, but vadas eere quite ordinary even when I ordered previously. All in all ok place.will I order again, not sure..vadas need to improve.many choices available now
Spoorthi Ramesh
This place is an absolute worth a visit! All their dishes are amazing! They have a limited menu options but their taste makes it up! Their Vada and Chutney is so yum and also give their Shavige Bath a try! Will always stay on list of favorite breakfast places!♥️

N.R.Colony’s very own Brahmin Coffee Bar inspired eatery. This is right next to the bus stand so very easy to locate, and you most definitely cannot miss the crowd at this place.

Ambience – Even though it is a small place they have maintained it well, very hygienic. There is no place to sit but there are few tables on which you can keep your hot plates and eat.

Service – There is no proper queue at the counter so it is a task to place your order. However crowded it gets your food will not be delayed.

Food – Menu is similar to Brahmin Coffee Bar but there are you additions like Avalakki (Flattened Rice) and Navane(Millet) bath.

I have tried their Idly Vade, Kharabath and Avalakki. Every dish is served with chutney, you don’t get Sambar here.

All the dishes here are really good but Idly Vada is a must have!
Vivek
It is by far the best eatery. The food is amazing, hygiene is at its best. My personal favorite is the coffee which is absolutely perfect. Try the special millet dish. You'll be surprised how an healthy dish could be mouthwatering.
Abishith Rao
A very authentic place for South Indian savories. Tasty & healthy eatery with millet variants. Don't forget to taste the gulab Jamoons here!
Shravan G Ram
Yet another old-school, old Bangalore type breakfast joint in Basavangudi. Obviously didn’t disappoint.
Tried the usual:
Khara Bhath, Idli Vada, Kesari & Coffee.
The Hungry Nomads
4.5/5: This place may not have the legendary status yet, as it is relatively new, but is surely going to give the other hotels in Basavanagudi a run for their money. The crowd swarming around the food court makes you wanna dive right in and eat the food. I've been there twice, and am stumped by their crispy dosas and yummy chutney, and their filter coffee. Filter coffee is not a rarity in Bangalore but there are some places where it should not be missed. This is one of them. Another important thing is their importance to hygiene even in the extreme rush. I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit and try their infamous Kharabath and semiya upma.
Rithika Shivakumar
This is among the best breakfast places around basavanagudi. The chutney is simply perfect in terms of spice and consistency and goes very well with idli and vada. Kesari bath is also very good. They keep the place hygienic and service is systematic and fast. Dishes have value for money and are very satisfying. Will keep visiting frequently.
Deepak
Avalakki bath was awesome.. brought back some memories of my childhood
Sreeram Kasbe
A copy of bramhin's coffee bar ... but a bit mordern and has a bit more dishes such as navane bath , avalakki , etc ... which are also good .... the vade here is crispy n soft
Mcs 55
Took parcel of two shavige bath... But it is badly smelling.... Worst behavior of cashier... It is completely rotten...and very low quality of food
Archana G
They serve all types of South Indian dishes and some sweet items
I go here very often . They serve the best of idly along with chutney. They don't serve sambar , that's the only downside.
Sri Vatsa
I just love this place. Their hot idli chutney and vada, avalakki is something to drool about and the thought can make me hungry at any point of day. Best part is their filter coffee after a scrumptious breakfast. That completes it all.
Adarsh Hegde
Good place for people who looks out for organic food such as millets and there is a dish called 'Navane Bath' which is done by millets and taste like normal bisi bele bath, Vada and coffee are the 2 main dishes you gotta try when u plan here!
Sriram Saraf
USP- Authentic yummy Karnataka dishes such as huli Avalakki, akki sevage, puliogare, etc

This is a busy joint opposite NR colony bus stop. It serves south indian dishes and they all taste fantastic and are prepared fresh. They do not add onion and garlic to the dishes. Their dishes have a unique flavour and taste. Ex: the sweet bhath is kesari bhath with banana added and tastes like banana shira or kesari bhath.

The idli and vada are soft and Crispy. Freshly made and hot. Tastes fantastic.
The akki sevage is awesome and had capsicum added with some broken cashews which gives it the crunchy and Crispy tastes. Combination with chutney is really good.
The huli Avalakki is the dish to try for. It's just perfect blend of sweet and sour and the way it should be just perfect.. With chutney it tastes really good.
The khara bhath and uppitu are two different dishes and the uppitu is white in colour and thicker than khara bhath.
The sweet bhath is shira with banana flavour. Tastes fantastic.
The coffee is average.

It's a stand and eat joint. Self service. Like hygienic.
The dishes are freshly prepared and taste fantastic. Each have their own flavour and is satisfying.

Overall- Definitely recommended for South Indian lovers. A 4.5 rating.
Kiran N
One of the few places where authentic Khara Bath is served. They serve it piping hot with a mild coconut chutney. Khara Bath with a filter coffee at @southkitchen is a perfect breakfast
Deepak Hegde
Good for south Indian breakfasts like idli, vada, kharabath. People love the Chutney. Good ambiance. Self service. Usually go couple of times a day for coffee.
Rajan Kumar
Some beautiful thing met just randomly.

I went to Dodda Ganpathi temple and after puja searched places to eat.
As there is no much more outlets are there i headed for approx 500mtr and got this restaurant and journey begun for great breakfast.

It is more superior than Taaza thindi. Also quantity is good.
Loved the place.

Cons: If they add Dosa's to their menu then it will be icing on the cake.
Raj Kiran
A newer darshini when compared to the classic oldies in basvanagudi which provides affordable breakfast. They are now mainly know for their shavige bath, avalakki and khara bath which is served with chutney. A small darshini which is crowded most of the time but the service is also fast enough. This is placed right opposite of the bus stand. However, no dosa's are served here. Not to worry though as this is in basvanagudi where there's plenty of dosa's available in other famous hotels nearby.
Shreya Nema
A self service restaurant. The idli and Vada is a must try. Like must try. They food tastes amazing. Sambar isn’t provided only CHUNTY which is the highlight.
SB B
Small but neat 'n tidy place. Space for patrons is limited but the food and the service is good. But, often even a simple item like tea wouldn't be available! The owner would do well to focus less on the economics and a little more on better service to patrons!

On the whole, this place is much above average in its category.
Sachi Is Veggie
We have become regular visitors of this place. A typical darshini which is always crowded. They have a limited menu and they do not serve onion or garlic in their dishes at any given point of time. The place is very small and has limited space to stand and eat. The staff wear gloves and caps and the kitchen looks hygienic. When ever I've eaten here the food seems freshly made and is always served hot.
The hot selling dishes are idly vada, kharabath and kesaribath. The vada is crispy and delicious. The sweet bath as the call it, is a hit among kids, made with a lot of ghee it just melts in your mouth. The other not so common dishes are avalakki bath, shavige bath and Navane bisibele bath. All are served with freshly made spicy coconut chutney which is a treat to your tongue. Filter coffee is amazing so do end you meal with it. The prices are extremely affordable. Must try!

if your looking for a decent darshini hotel in this surrounding area this can be the best suited for you very well maintained pocket friendly and tasty snack
Manoj Kantharaj
apt place for authentic idly and chutney, compared to any idly hotels in Bangalore.
very hygienically maintained, cleanliness to the greatest standards.
Santosh N Poojari
Great place to have healthy authentic food apart from their idly vada and chutney they also serve avallaki, shavige and not to forget their millets... full marks to their cleanliness ....pricing is also very nominal
Ateet Kanni
One of the best places to have soft idlis and crispy vada's. The place is situated right next to NR colony bus stop. Everything here very cheap and delicious. The main specialty here is their chutney, which has the right taste leaving you craving for more. Only one disappointment that they don't serve dosa and sambar ☹️.
Overall - 4.5/5
Chetan Kj
Very nice place for a quick and tasty breakfast, idli is soft great chutney and they do not use garlic. Totally value for money worth and their coffee is good too.
MOONLIGHT KITCHENS
The taste of South here is amazing. A best place for morning breakfast. #chatniSPESALIST.
coconut , garlic and ginger taste very good here.
You get idly, wada, kesari bath, kharabath and tea/cofee.
Only chutney is served and no sambar
Ramesh S
Great place for awesome breakfast, specially their vads's are mouth watering and not to forget their awesome coffee. Will definetly recommend this place for a quick bite.
Sai Nagendra Y A
One of my favourite eat outs in Bengaluru. Great place to have some nice South Indian food and they serve mainly idlis and you don't get dosa here. The chutney that you get here is delicious. I always eat more chutney than the dish that I buy because they serve the best. The prices are very cheap, pocket friendly and very hygienic. Every dish is a must try here. And i heard that they won't use onions and garlic in whatever dish they prepare.
Kiran Kumar
The hyped rating in this outlet, the items are very less the people throng to have south Indian delicacy. There is no sitting available, only standing table available to eat with less space as this is small place.
The idly is good but chutney is too water or more watery content. The taste is ok, the ambiance is good near to N R Colony bustand and the service is self service which is fast. The people can try once in and around this area...
Ram Rathan
A great place for south indian food as the name suggest located near nr colony basavanagudi its in the corner easy to locate the ambience is good the great thing about this place is the menu is simple with few choices from idli vada to navanebath and yeah they serve it with only green chutney and the coffee is delicious too.
This place is always crowded local people from this area meet here for coffee and a plate of idle and spend their time with friends and to hangout.
Overall great place for a meal and a good conversation with friends and family
Sachin Gowda
This place is for a quick meal and for snacks.
Just like tazaa thindi , but you don't get dose items . Only idly vade , chow chow bath.
Its little crowded in the evening time as it is situated in the middle of basavangudi.
Want to quench your hunger ? This is the place If you are in basavangudi.
Hemanth Hemanth
Delicious snacks, all snacks are without onion and garlic a must visit especially if you are In South Bangalore the usp is chutney. The products are nominally priced and courteous staff. Well maintained and managed. Keep it up.
Vinay D S
This place serves some good South India tiffins. They prepare limited dishes. Idli, vada, upma, kharabath. Daily one different dish they prepare, like savige bath, bisibele bath. Clean and hygienic place. Good for morning breakfast.
Prashanth
limited options like idly vada, karabath, kesaribath, avalakki bath, jamoon. idly vada is very tasty.
also karabath , kesaribath is tasty. gulab jamun is a must try
Sudhanva Bhandolkar
Taste is good but too expensive .. charges navane bath (millet rice) at 35 rupees .. too much for daily darshini norms when other darshini like taza thindi compared ...

Less space, highly unfriendly staff.....

Not worth the money
Shree Hari
I love the chutney they make. It's like those classic 1947 tastes. The rates are damn pocket friendly. It's my favorite place to hang out with my friends. Grab a Chai and plate of idly and that's it your done for the day! I definitely recommend this place. They don't serve dosas. Its one of those just idly based.
Kartik Bhat
Super busy food joint located in a very busy area, right next to the NR colony bus stand. The restaurant is jam packed during morning time with customers rushing in to have a quick breakfast.
Had crispy medu vadaa & Idli chutney. Nice authentic taste. Khaara bhaath is also very tasty with small carrot pieces & other veggies interspersed with the rice.
Looking forward to try their other dishes
Ramesh N
Quick service,Tasty and Hygienic this is what one can relate their experience with South Kitchen. I have missed economical because their prices are bit more expensive than Taaza Thindi, Chutney is amazing, apart from idli, vada and uppitt they do have additional items which varies everyday viz.. shavige Bath, Navane Bath, Huli Avalakki etc.. One cannot skip visiting to this place if they are in and around NR Colony
Sanjesh Gupta
One of the best idli and chutney you can get in bangalore, Period. Super yummy, very hygienic, surprisingly affordable. Must have if u r in Nr colony, Basavangudi area. Vada is crispy always and tastes great.

3.5/5
I have bookmarked almost all the recommended South Indian food corners in zomato as I often crave for delicious dosa, vada sambar, uppit..etc :P
South kitchen was in this list from a long time and I visited here today morning with my breakfast buddy :D It's located besides NR Colony bus stop, thus can be easily tracked.

Service:
-Self service.
-Takes hardly a minute to get what you ordered.

Ambiance:
-It's like any other Darshini hotel-> should stand and eat.

Food:
Kharabath: Served with carrot pieces in them. It was a little sweet but still delicious.
Idly Vada: Soft & fluffy idlies and crispy & tasty vadas were no surprise but nothing extraordinary about the food. Loved their chutney though:)

Conclusion:
-Definitely worth a visit but the food here doesn't match up to the ones served at veenas, raghavendra stores..etc Guess my expectations are high with south Indian food :D
-Pocket friendly.

Food: 4/5
Service: 4.5/5
Ambiance: N/A
QFM: 4/5

The place is very easy to find, just beside NR colony bus stand. The place serves the best vegetarian breakfast in the locality. The menu itself is pretty limited, they don't use onion or garlic.
Now coming to food that I ordered, idli, vada, chutney, avalakki, gulab jamun.
Idli was soft, fluffy, chutney was similar to that of Brahmin's Coffee Bar but less thick in consistency. Vada, on the other hand was small in size, but was packed with flavors. Small but yet so yummy, dominant flavors of green chillies, with bits of coconut chunks here and there!!. Amazing it was.
Avalakki was the real show stopper here, medium spiced, served with chutney, spicy tiny pieces of egg plant(brinjal), green peas made it taste heavenly. Gulab Jamun was served warm and it was so soft, evenly cooked and had right amount of sweetness to it.

It definitely lived up to my expectations.

A must visit place.
Ambience : 3.8/5.
Taste: 4/5.
Service: n/a(Self Service)
Quality: 4/5.

Located right next to NR Colony Bus Stand, this place serves the most awesome pure vegetarian food in the locality. We do visit this place for breakfast/evening snack atleast twice in a week. Food served here is free from Onion & Garlic and they are able to maintain their top-notch quality for the past one & a half year that we've been visiting them.

Their speciality food is the Idly, Vada & Chutney. Served hot anytime, their Idly simply melts as you keep it mouth. Khara Bath is another delicacy followed by Avalakki Chitranna/Avalakki Vangibath/Huli Avalakki. Upma & Jamun tastes heavenly.

Every Tuesday and Saturday they prepare Akki Shaavige which is a speciality in it's own.

Apart from food, they maintain their kitchen in a very standard & hygiene manner. The counter at which they serve is a clean place with no mess up seen anytime. Overall, It's a must visit on any given day

South Kitchen has become a substitute restaurant for me when i cant make it to Brahmins Coffee Bar.

A frill free and crisp array of offerings, consistent taste , quality and reasonable pricing.... need i say more.

Everything on their menu is must try...Fluffy Idlis, Vadas, Khara Bath and Kesari Bath...
The chutney is the disguised hero in all dishes. I also love their daily one meal dish offerings ...Shavige Bath is my favorite...

And it does not use onion or garlic in any dish which makes it favourite among all classes of vegetarians.
If you are in Basavangudi, then make it a point to visit this underdog

My regular breakfast joint. This place has attracted a lot of customers in no time. And many are regular customers.

Does not really have an Ambience per se. It's a quick bite place. But the place is very clean and tidy.
Downside is it is situated right next to a bus station and is on the main road. Dirt and smoke!!!!!

Service is pretty good. It is a Self service place and the staffs are courteous enough when they serve the food at the counter. Counters are kept clean.

Food is exceptional. For a decent price you get a delicious food. I have tried many items on the menu (well, there are only few items on the menu) and all of them are very good for breakfast. Light and keeps you full.
Their chutney is the best on the menu :D

A must try for breakfast and coffee. When you come near basavanagudi for any work just check this place out. A quick bite... ;)

This place is really good with their south breakfasts. Every thing is really good and tasty. Except the one dish called the "sweet bhath".the only negative thing is that they charge really high if you take away your food. The parcel charges are almot the double of the price of the dish.

I must say after SLV (BSK 2nd Stage) this is one of the best Idli i have tasted. The presentation is alike, idli served in rather heavy plate :) with flowing chutney in it. First bite goes in and you never know where the idli disappears, its like butter ..just melts in. Vada is crispy and tastes good and so does uppit ( i still like the SLV uppit). Kesri bath was different and good, made with chucks of banana must try.Filter coffee hmmm...I ended up having 2 cups ...that delicious!

Now, this is easily the best, hygenic and tasty fast food restaurant in the Gandhi Bazaar area. It has overtaken all other restaurants, especially the uppittu (white) is non-oily version of kharabath, very tasty and filling

This place is just after NR colony bus stop and before 'katte balaga' circle.

I have been visiting this regularly for breakfast from last few months.

This is a darshini kind of place. With limited menu items, this place does excellent justice to its food quality and taste.

As displayed on a board, they follow NO GARLIC, NO ONION policy. Avalakki vangibath , idli vada, kharabath are really good. There is no sambar served. Only chutney. Infact there is a seperate counter just for serving extra chutney.

The cripsy vada has made me a big fan. Must try.

Overall this place deserves 4/5 in all segments like cleaniness, ambience, taste, quality and quanitity.
Mukul Parashar
They serve one of the best Idly and Vada. And awesome Coconut Chutney. I dont think there is anyone in that area who provide so delicious food. However they dont have much option. Quick delivery and hygienic food. Must visit.

2.0 is only because of the taste. Kesaribath was more like a kheer and 3 spoons of so called kheer is 20 rs! 30 rs parcel charge for idlis and kharabath. Perfect loot!! God bless basavanagudi people

Probably an attempt to replicate Bhrmins Coffee Bar...and is not too far off

The idlis are fluffy, crisp vade, and the usual khara baths.

No garlic or onions used..so suitable for Jain's too...

But for the chutney...it wold have scored a 5

#bangaloreans... The place seems to be just a typical upahar style fast food restaurant where u need to stand and have the light breakfast..!!ambience is clean and u can expect the hygiene food..though the actual talk comes when its about the taste..shavige bath, sweet bath and vada are the most authentic dishes here. still you should try everything here..Its the place which u must try on the day after u had a big meal and u need a break..it makes u feel lighter and hence i prefer it on monday mornings..!!#feel light #stay healthy..

The best part of South Kitchen is cleanliness and hygiene, full marks for it. yes,the menu is limited but no limitation in their quality with zero adulteration.

Typical Basavangudi breakfast place except this one is newer, I suppose. No seating, there are tables about and one stands at them. The restaurant is quite small and feels quite congested in the morning crowd.

The place has a limited menu. I was disappointed that they didn't have dosa, but their brilliant vadas made up for it. The coffee was average, not quite my favourite.

Basavangudi is famous for its delicious and affordable fare and this place is a trademark of it. A definite try.
Neha Putta
As the name suggests, it serves brilliant south Indian food. Keseribath and vada should be tried if ever you come across this kitchen. And do not forget the filter coffee. One of the best! Tea wasn't that bad enough.

Located in NR Colony, Next to the Famous 31 Bus Stop. I have been visiting this place from past few months, Anytime i visit it will be packed with people, They serve Idli,Vada,Kara Bath, Chutney for all these, Kesari Bath,Shavige Bath,Avalakki Bath and Jamoon.

I have had a chance to try everything else apart from Avalakki , Which is My All time Fav. Next time i will make sure its available.

Oki, Coming to the taste, Idli us smooth,Soft, and melts with the Chutney, It is very tasty, If you are used to Brahmins cafe bar,Then its something similar taste. Love the taste of chutney, Its Yummy

Vada, Not oily, We can taste the actual Urad Dal , I mean the flavor is so well maintained, It is crispy, But the actual taste is when we dip it with Chutney and enjoy the bite

I normally dont prefer Kara Bath anywhere, But loved the taste here, Vegetables are cut vertically(carrot) and mixed with Ghee, Peas, It was heaven to the taste buds, It was one of the best Khara Bath i have tasted. Dont miss this .

Visit this place for awesome idli and chutney - same taste as Brahmins Coffee bar. Limited menu but everything is good. My favorites apart from idli vada is Khara bhath and huli avalakki - its yum 😋

The South Kitchen is located in NR colony. This where the prestigious Dwarka Bhavan is located. The best in South kitchen is that they give one of the tastiest uppits. The Uppit and chutney combination is very tasty and that's what makes it great.
Then Idli vade was above average. The vada was not that good. But it was never bad. But totally worth it.
But do not miss Uppit from this place.

This again is a limited menu but effective outlets in and around baswangudi. They have got the prices right and the taste is good. I somehow feel that the quality of Wada was not good. I can surely understand with urad daal costing 200 bucks a kilo....they will have a tough time controlling their margins. But i am also sure their customers won't mind another 5 bucks for a better quality Wada.

The best place in South Bengaluru to have a South Indian breakfast or an evening snack. The place is hygienic and the food served is very tasty. For that price, you can not get such good quality food in bengaluru. You all should visit once!

Typical Veg darshini, great idlies
Chutney was really good. Vade as well, located near to dwarka hotel.
Filter coffee was really good.
Nice place to have veg south Indian thindi.

South Kitchen is a typical mass pulling outlet. Their menu is limited but provides decent food. It is always packed with customers sometimes failing to make you enjoy the food. The music they play hardly adds to your experience.
If you are looking for a quick coffee and snack stop then this is the place.
Swagat Bhowmik
Typically a veg restaurant. I did not like the watery chutney served with the idlis. Idli was steamed proportionately, though. Vada was crispy and well fried. Avalaki, or widely known as Poha, looked and tasted stale. I also happened to order (raisin and cashew baked and mixed) Kesari Bath or "Sooji Ka Halwa" as it is called in the rest of India. Kesari Bath was the only thing I liked maybe because I have an affinity towards sweet dishes. Anyway, overall, not a very good experience.

You can fill your stomach here for less than 50 rupees. And the taste of every dish is fabulous. Only chutney is provided with all items, there is no sambar. But who wants sambar when the chutney is so good. Everytime I eat here I get hiccups because of eating too fast. It is that good.

Please note- the cashier never gives the exact amount of change. Instead he gives chocolates. So better to tender exact change especially when buying items priced at rs.15

Great place for a quick breakfast. Less choices for a breakfast so it's easy to choose from, the service is fast and the food tasty, proper priced food they sell and also hygienic. Just hope to c them come up with new dishes to add to their menu.

Taste the real south Indian flavours here! Located in the heart of Bangalore, this place is indeed south's kitchen. Amazing idlis and dosas. I used to come here for early morning tea.

Travelled all the way from ecity to nr colony to try out yummy food items they offer to hungry souls.... Located on the main road n you definitely can't miss it,very crowded n a small place with 2-3 tables available, tried idli n chutney , khara bath, vada. Idlis were soft n chutney was perfect, khara bhath was too good n vada was crisp. Overall a perfect place for breakfast n snacks n the best thing they r open till 9. Just expect them to expand their business to other parts of the Bangalore, especially South zone.

There's nothing else I can say, other than PERFECT! Soft idlis, yummy kharabhath, tasty and fresh filter coffee and crispy vadas. But the cherry on top is the chutney. I don't think I have tasted a chutney this awesome! A definite must visit place if u love South Indian breakfast.
