Review Sukh Sagar - Bengaluru

The taste of the food was just awesome, especially their north indian thališŸ‘ŒšŸ».

An authentic place and clearly a favorite among the locals. We went twice for lunch. Saturday lunch time it gets packed. There are two floors. A serviced restaurant is on the first floor. We tried tomato soup, sweet corn soup, Gobi Manchurian, bhel puri, sev puri, masala dosa, and fresh juice. They have a large menu of south and north Indian vegetarian dishes for any taste. Gobi Manchurian was my favorite, the best I've tried so far. Everything was flavorful.

Food tastes great. Ingredients don't seem to be compromised. The so called chefs wash there hands every time they give the final touch to the food being served. Known for the North Indian part of the menu, especially Pav Bhaji. This was one of the first restaurants in this part of the town with North Indian delicacies. However, the food is prepare to a large extent, centrally and distributed to the branches. So, freshness is definitely a question that goes unanswered.

Food & service both are good. I didnā€™t ask the waiterā€™s name. His attitude was very good. He took good care & served hot & tasty food. My mother preferred for food without onion & garlic. He served Palak paneer without it. It was yummy & was liked by my mummy šŸ˜ƒšŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»

One of the well known restaurant in jayanagar, dine in restaurant in the first floor was good and the ambiance is decent enough. Service was good. Price is slightly higher but the taste is good. Deserts are must try here. My suggestion is go to this place during weekday you will enjoy the food and service. Weekends are mostly crowded. Overall a good family restaurant.

Overall experience of mine in this is wonderful in reliable rates. All that is required from a Restaurant is what we have in "SUKHSAGAR". Amazing experience,, surely will continue to take service from it.

I ate at the Service hall.. The food was Good, service was quick. Gobi and Corn Manchurians were crispy, Hyderabadi and Panner Tikka curry were great. Masala Papad was Yumm. Only thing that disappointed was Dahi Sev Batata Puri. Prices are also affordable.

I sat in the self-service area and bought a South Indian Mini Meal for Rs 40. One thing I want to say is if these guys can give that much quantity, taste, and quality of food at prices so low and still make profits, I wonder why government canā€™t feed the homeless.
Dushyant Choudhary
Really great food. Pav bhaji is auspicious and have great taste. I would prefer to go again there.

Good taste, good service, moderately priced restaurant. Staff is cooperative. Family restaurant in 4th block Jayanagar. Bangalore. If you like my review please like it...

The Restaurant has two floors. The ground floor has self-service and the first floor has service system. All types of South Indian, North Indian, Chinese, Chats, Juice and Beverages are available on both the floors.

Nice restaurant serving North Indian food in South Indian style

The restaurant serves good idlis and Khara Bhat. They also have a wide menu in North Indian but the taste is vastly different, Cooked in South Indian style the taste is hugely different from North India. Service is quick and fast

Please dont confuse this joint with similar sounding joints in Mumbai or Delhi. Food preparation is just crazy. Pani puri is served with sprouts šŸ™†ā€ā™‚ļø

Sukh Sagar Jayanagar, long time back was a Landmark & used to serve the best quality chats, north indian fare & Chinese in 4th Block Jayanagar. Today it's renovated & looks new, but food, service & pricing is very disappointing. I don't get the point why everything including the ambience, plates & even the shirts worn by people have suddenly turned greenish yellow color. Grooming standards of the waiters & cleaners have stooped to all time low. In the service area above, Water is still served in steel tumblers, Food quality & Quantity is very low for the prices charged. Food is still served in low quality melamine plates.. With so many new options in the vicinity. Sukh Sagar has sadly lost its place.
Tried pav bhaji - 79. Not worth, normal taste.
Restaurant is good for thali. They have ac restaurant too.
Overall it is costly. Tomato soup 78. Thumbs down for this restaurant

This place has lost its magic after reopening ... Many items from the old menu have been stopped and items on existing menu are unavailable. Bhel puri was the worst... Dry bland no vegetables. Ordered cheese pav bhaji but they were out of cheese and didn't have the courtesy to inform . The portion size has reduced and the costs have increased with very poor service.

This review is about the take away on the ground floor. Ordered a Veg Biryani and Veg Noodles for parcel. When we got the parcel, I was shocked to see that they gave both in a 250ml container each. This quantity would not even suffice one person properly. They are charging around Rs 125+ for each dish. I raised this with the manager and they went on arguing that it's the policy, we have orders from management etc etc. I did not relent and made the restaurant manager to talk to whoever it is in higher management. Finally they realized their gaffe and got instructions from management that food parcel should be given in 500ml containers and not 250ml containers. This has been going on for the last 15 days and unsuspecting customers are not aware of this. Please be aware if you are taking parcel from here. Have attached snaps of the 250ml containers that we got initially

Worst service ever. You have to wait more than an hour for your food to arrive. They won't give you plates until you ask for them a number of times.

The mushroom soup and corn fried rice were good options to try in the place. The ambience is fine and good to hang out with friends for a quick chat.
Riya Das ( Journey With Food)
The food quality and quantity is good.
Service is quick and a hygenic restaurant too.
I ordered one curd rice . It was a mixture of veggies and curry leaves , a good taste indeed.
Price is pocket friendly
Overall good experience
The food is ok! The service is quick but the taste is average. It has been an oldie in Jayanagar and staying in Jayanagar for all my life, the taste of food here is no more up to the mark! Their signature Pav Bhaji doesn taste like it used to and i think its a let down..

Be careful, I got tandoori roti with cockroach roasted on it. This place serves good food but it was horrible experience this time..the manager goofed up with the bill as well ..will never ever visit this place again.

Best place to grab a quick breakfast or have a nice meal with family or friends. The food is all made fresh and very hygienic. They have the self service counter in the groundfloor and seating arrangement for the first floor.

A good north indian experience in the heart of a South Indian city. Maybe you are feeling a little fatigued after eating so many dosas on your trip to the south or maybe you just hate south Indian food, either way, this is the place to be. They do offer south indian food but the focus is definitely on North indian food. The dal makhni might scare you a little as it looks like a blend of so many things but the flavors come together so marvelously that anyone would be surprised and left in an awe once you try it. Fast food and desserts are up to the mark and the chefs focus is more on flavors blending together rather than the appearance.

Ambience is simple yet a little sophisticated, due to the weather being as good as it is in Bangalore the windows are mostly open and let the cool breeze in which is actually better than air conditioning.

Pricing is somewhat to the higher side as compared to South Indian food in other and even in this restaurant but that is pretty much expected as the north indian cuisine is a specialiality in this area.

Overall Score - 85/100

A quick eat place and the cleanliness for a quick eat kinda place is decent though the could improve a bit on the cleanilness as their charges are high and not of a typical darshini prices.cheese pav bhaji was decent tho bhaji had a lot of food colour( its obvious to me as tats t business i m in to) the dahi puri was not great as the puris were stale and tasted old n not at all crispy.just about ok for a quick hunger pang
Raghav Bhaskar
I am assuming that many of them have at least visited this place at least once.
The ambience is not exceptional, just nice.
So here are the foods that we tried.

Pav Bhaji & Cheese pav Bhaji - not the best in the city, but they weren't bad either. The quantity of bhaji was less and was not enough for even 2 pieces of pav (forget ordering extra pav). (Rating:3/5)

Paneer chilli : The paneer was perfectly cooked and throw them in with some perfect spicy chillies and bell peppers, you'll have a really satisfying dish. The quantity was also a lot and was easily enough for 3 people. (Rating: 3.5/5)

Kadai paneer : They give you exactly what you'd expect from kadai paneer. Loaded with long sticks of paneer, with the Tanginess and a higher sense of spiciness, this dish made it all worth it. (Rating: 3.5/5)

Stuffed Tomato : Whole tomatoes stuffed with mix veggies and tossed around in a gravy which is slightly on the moderately spicy to less spicy side is perfect to compliment your rotis. (Rating: 3.5/5)

Things I loved about this restaurant
- Really quick service.
- The staff are always on your toes and never keep you waiting.
- the quantity is sufficient for 2 generously.

Things I think they can improve on
- The pricing. This was one major disappointment to me. Being one of the old restaurants in this city, they need to keep up to the prices in the market. For the price paid, the food definitely did not justify. For all the food listed above, it costed us 1300. We could get the same food for half the price in other restaurants of the same ambience and service level.

- The cleanliness and quality could be improved.

Overall, it was a decent experience if not for the overly priced food.

Quality : 3/5
Cleanliness :3/5
Taste : 3.5/5
Service : 3.5/5
Buck to bite rating : 2.5/5
Good location, easy to reach. Good taste but bit over hyped. Staff is not too friendly n guy who takes order always makes us hurry to order n askes to wait for half an hour even with less crowd. Ambience is good, taste is decent. Paneer butter masala is great.

A real time disaster. I never had this worst dosa n chat. Don't waste time coming here. Dosa batter was very old and they didn't cook it well served with dal chutney which was worse.

place is small and very crowded during peak times, self service system, typical south Indian darshini style hotel.

Food - 3.0
Ambiance - 2.5
Value for Money - 4.5
Service - 3.0
Overall - 3.0

It used to be a regular treat joint when I went to college, and it has survived more than 25 years in today's rush of eateries. Not much has changed in what they offer (but the prices ofcourse) but ofcourse I am not a fan I once used to be. Have just outgrown it (?)

The best family restaurant in the area. Decent pricing, great food, lovely ambience. The employees are always warm and welcoming. Food is top notch and if you and have specific preferences, they are sure to follow them to the T! Been going there almost all my life and never been disappointed with either the food or the service.

It's a normal South Indian restaurant for quick bites in Jayanagar 4 fourth block. The seating is upstairs. Normal menu with tasty food served in a jiffy. Had the masala dosa, rava idli and baby corn manchurian. Usually crowded. Good place to stop by before getting on your bus

I use to go to Sukhi sagar long time back. It has a dharshani and a sit out. Its a simple restaurant with decent interiors. Food here is good and I use to especially like north Indian thali. Will definitely go back to the restaurant when iam around.

Visited this restaurant on Sunday for Lunch ! It's located right next to the jain temple .

Sukh sagar is basically a north Indian darshini also serving south Indian breakfast items . They have only north Indian meals .
The menu consists of north Indian breads like roti, naan etc and lot of varieties of curries , south Indian breakfast , and Chinese starter , fried rice and noodle varieties , sandwiches and chats .

We ordered a north Indian deluxe meals , a sukh sagar special , a north Indian meal and a schezwan noodles .

Sukh sagar special - they said it's a Chinese meals although the only Chinese dish in it was fried rice .
You get a tomato soup , fried rice, sandwich , and a fruit salad .
The tomato soup was cold and bland when first served and I reported it to the manager and he was back with a bowl of soup hot and seasoned really well and also had cream! It tasted really good ! The fried rice is not your Chinese restaurant standard but definitely good for a darshini hotel, it wasn't oily ,it was spicy . The sandwich was really good they had freshly cut cucumber , tomato and a spicy green chutney as the filling . The fruit salad was the best among the items it was really tasty .
The north Indian deluxe meals - it consists of quite a few items . The soup was the same as the above but with a papad , then we have the butter naan quite big in portion size and a generous portion of butter on top of it , it was soft and tasty . We get 3 curries one palak panner , a spicy panner curry and a chana type curry . The pulav doesn't exactly taste like any pulav that I have eaten but there was something interesting about it , it tasted like spiced rice ( rice cooked with various spices ) it tasted good with dal .
You also get white rice with rasam a rarity for north Indian meals nonetheless it tasted good . The gulab jamun was really tasty a soft jamun soaked really well . The fruit salad with ice cream was really good looking with wafer on top, ice cream in the middle and fruit salad at the bottom .

The north Indian meals is very similar to the deluxe meals the only difference being you get a roti instead of butter naan and you don't get pulav and 4 curries instead of 3 . The roti also was big portions and curries were same and tasted really good.

Schezwan noodles -unfortunately although the base sauce was good the noodles were boiled a little too much so they were really soft and soggy which was a little disappointment after such a good lunch .

The prices are quite low and justified the deluxe meals at 155 bucks , north Indian meals at 130 bucks
Sukh sagar special at 100 bucks and schezwan noodles at 155 bucks .
Ambience is ok, the place is quite small and tables a little uncomfortable for tall people but they are clean and airy .

Points deducted for a cold bland soup and soggy noodles

Do visit if your in the area , best darshini in that area to have north Indian meals under budget !

Im writing this review to just applaud the service personnel who really understand the word "service" and did everything he could do to make us happy.
We reached the place just before they were closing/clearing off for the day. The waiter came up and said "bega order maadi". But then thankfully since this was "sukh sagar" and not some innovative place, we all knew exactly what to order the minute we walked in.
We placed our order and i badly wanted only a rava dosa. But the waiter told us dosa was out of question. But when i insisted he did really get me the same cook or by crook.
This would be the first time that i would rate so high for a really bad rava dosa so high, but then this was not for the dosa at all but for the service of the service industry personnel. This somehow seems to be a lost art.....#respect

Recently tasted the north indian Thali...
The taste is Just like any other darshini... Nothin extra ordinary or great types.
The pav bhaji served also is good.. Not so very great.
One time visit is ok

The ambience is ok. The price is reasonable. Service is alright. Chaats, North Indian thali and coffee was good. However the Chinese items were average.

Been visiting this place ever since, I was a kid. I remember it being located only in the ground floor. The taste of gobi manchurian hasn't changed over the years, though the place went through a major make over. Good food & a nice place.
Shruti Gupta
A not so good looking food joint serving great food. The service is decent. North Indian food may not be upto par, but still better than many places in Bangalore. A good variety of food items available as well.

This place is really good for a family lunch or dinner.. It's in the main road of 4th block and next to Jain temple.. So finding this place is not a problem..

The dine in is in 1st floor and the ambience is decent.. Few weeks back we had a family get together and we wanted to eat north Indian food.. We were 15 of us so thought of getting parcel and 2 of us came here and ordered kulcha, roti, palak paneer, veg makhanwala, baby corn and Gobi Manchurian, fried rice..

They asked us to wait for half n hour but surprisingly they gave in 20 mins and we were happy.. The taste was really good and the packaging was neat and clean.. The kulcha and roti were hot till we got back home..

Overall very good experience and would visit again!!!

I am visiting this place since 1985-86 when this used to be a ground floor hotel with around 10 tables.Ā The quality of food was amazing.. they were the first people in Jayanagar to start Pav Bhaji and Fried Rice / Gobi.Ā In the early 90s no one even knew what Gobi Manchurian was.Ā The chaats here were legendary especially the special Sev puri and the Special Bhel puri.Ā The masala puri is prepared a little differently.Ā Ā I had visited this place a week ago but was not very happy with the taste.Ā The Darshini culture has spoilt this place.Ā Hopefully it will regain its lost splendorĀ again....some day.

I used to come here as a kid, when they served Tomato pizzas for just ā‚¹10 each! But that's a distant memory. Prices aside, the current avatar of Sukh Sagar is not really up to their previous high standards. This review will be about their service wing, since I have not really tried dining at their self service section.

Their North Indian fare is pretty decent, especially their side dishes. But they're slightly overpriced, considering the quality. Coming to South Indian, their Masala dosas are quite good. Desserts again are a bit overpriced.

The ambiance is quite posh, although the service tends to be a bit slow and sluggish. The seating is comfortable enough.

Food - 3/5
Ambiance - 4/5
Service - 3/5
Value for money - 2.5/5
Hygiene - 3.5/5
Overall - 3/5

Sukh Sagar is a typical North Indian Darshini restaurant, which also serve best South Indian Food. I been visiting this place from a Decade for both Breakfast and Lunch. I find both Veg & Non Veg dishes are upright with affordable pricing. I prefer this place for North Indian food, if i am around Jayanagar. I will definitely recommend this place.

This was the only hotel in this vicinity for many years.. Best hangout place during our college times. They used to serve the best sandwiches, pizzas, cold coffee, milk shakes. Have lot of memories in this place. Now the ambiance has changed and there are better hotels in the same vicinity. This is still a Decent place with decent food
Balaji Nandyal
It is one of our families favourite resturant. We usual go there for snacks. You get very yummy pav bhaji here. Pista milk shake, Chinese bhel and sukh sagar special fried rice are some of the favourite items here.
Shreya Bhandary
One of the Best PAv bhajji & SEv puri i have ever eaten. It is an old restaurant which you can make out with the style of their furniture. South Indian dishes and Filter coffee was nice. Besides, the restaurant was clean and staff was quick and courteous. Will visit again when I am in that area.

Hello guys.
Sukh sagar..
Known place for their chats and pav bhaji s.
And other north Indian dishes..
Good location
Lil bit of car parking problem.
Overall good food.
Must visit.
Thank you. Sukh sagar. Team.

A typical family restaurant. Was very impressed with the service. It was quick.
Totally loved the food. After the monotonous chaat hopping at Bangalore this was a nice change. We had :
Malai kofta - was mild and good
Kohlapuri - which was a tad bit spicy but the flavors and spices went really well with the hot rotis they got us.
Onion rings - a.big bore. Was just bland and plain. Was disappointing.
Pani puri, dahi sev puri, masala puri - they nailed these dishes. (Yes we had chaat AGAIN)
The highlight of the day was the paneer fried rice. The aroma of basmati rice cooked to perfection forced me to order it. It was mind blowing. Little peppery, good mix of veggies and every little panner cube was cooked to perfection. Had a great meal. Pocket friendly dinner and walked out with a big happy belly.

One of the other typical family restaurants in this locality and what is it that adds any value addition to the place that makes people come back here over and over again? Two things .. one is that it's been there since ages and it's pure veg and hence caters to the localities...and the other thing is the famous pav bhaji here. There is no denying that it isn't good but yes it's just that good not the best .
The only reason I come here is for my parents . The worst time to come is during the peak time or beyond 9.30pm since half the things are finished or just bad food taste.
The food here is always better in the afternoon and then there is a steady decline.
So if he has run out of certain stuff he'll just replace with whatever else he has like for example ..today I was served masala dosa with chutney and sagu. That is a horrible combination . But the juice here is good . All the fresh fruit juices are good.
Chaats are definitely average here. The north Indian food is the same. So this place here is just perfect for a quick budget lunch or dinner and nothing more and it has been surviving that way since a long time.
Overall,
Ambience - 2.5
Staff-2.5
Service-4
Quantity -3
Quality -2.5
Taste-2.5
Plating-3
Pricing-4

Like many restaurants in this neighbourhood, this place has been there from many many years. The ground floor is a self service section and the first floor has the serive hall. ambience is pretty decent and family friendly.I've visited this place many times and never been dissappointed.

This review is based on experience of the last time I visited this place 15 days ago.I went to this restaurant with a group of friends to celebrate a dear friend's b'day.Ā The five of us ordered butter naans, one paneer and one veg curry (I dont rememberthe names, sorry!), veg biriyani and mushroom fried rice.
The quantity and the quality of all the dishes were exceptional!Ā Everything was really tasty but i found the mushroom fried rice a little bland for my taste buds. Everyone was happy with the dishes. the five of us couldn't finish the rice items because the quantity was huge. So we asked the manager to parcel them and he obliged politely.Ā

Overall it was a very good dining experience and a very good value for money.Ā
I cant wait to revisit this place.

I went there today with my mother because Maiyas was closed.. Ordered Masala Dosa and Masala Puri.. Roadside masala puri tastes 1000 times better and costs 30 rupees less... The masala dosa was half baked, had no masala and... Who the hell uses dalda for masala dosa and charge Rs. 60 for it!!! My mother is now dealing with an upset stomach while I'm nursing my disappointment because this place used to be nice. Never again!

Sukh Sagar is a place for "CHATS" and North/South Indian food is ok. Must try Pav Bhaji, Ragda Pattice, Sev Puri, Pani Puri Etc...............
Sharanya Donthi
Sukh sagar was one of those few places that opened up in bangalore when everyone in the jayanagar area had to make a trip to 4th block to get in touch with civilization. I have enjoyed their pav bhaji and gudbud ice cream for as long as i can remember! Its a taste of nostalgia for me but not just that, even their dishes like the manchurian, rotis and curries are great. Wouldn't expect the same high standards on a weekend cause its too crowded and service is sloppy. Hence a weekday is more when I might visit. There is a service section on the 1st floor and a self service section on the ground floor which also has the usual soothing indian darshini fare on offer too.
Kaushik Gandhi
Have tried only south Indian, much as other sagars and darshans. Nominal Taste with Respective Price. Good dosas and coffee, you get park and eat also.
Satvik
Biggest positive: Good north Indian and south Indian food at a decent price.
Negative: Waiting time due to crowd on weekends.

Located on the jain temple road. Parking shouldn't be too much of a problem since the road is very wide. It is usually full during dinner time on weekends. Ambience has been re-done. So looks quite nice and does not appear like a really old restaurant which it is. Service is still at a decent speed.
Food is good. Nothing new in the menu, but taste is good. Personally, like their north Indian food more than the south indain food. Reasonable pricing. An option for a vegetarian meal out with family.

I love the Idli -Vada of this particular outlet. The sambhar is really delicious and is served hot. Neat and clean environment. Take's me back to my college day's as it was our regular joint during that phase. Affordable price and good food. Menu mostly consist's of South Indian Cuisine. Coffee served is really refreshing. A must visit for breakfast. Overall a good place to crunch your hunger.
Sujay Krishna
One of the earliest restaurant to step in Jayanagar. But its quality is drastically dropping year by year and its incapability to compete with the neighboring restaurants bringing it to the ground day by day.

I still remember those days when we use to arrange for lunch party for our academy students 3 years back at this restaurant. Not because of the quality, because it was the only place in busy Jayanagar where you could get seats for 40-50 members easily.

AMBIANCE: It has a very small self service dining area at the ground floor which also host a kitchen, a chat counter, a paan counter and cash counter. And a vast serviced dining hall in the first floor. Ground floor will be always appears like crowded due to limited space. However you can manage to grab a table in no time. Where as first floor will be empty at all the time. Ambiance at the first floor is kind of old and didn't appeal much. Those shaded glasses and furniture gives the feel of bar.

SERVICE: Its kind of okay okay, nothing to praise nor to discriminate. All I can say is you won't feel the service part itself.

FOOD: As per my recent observation, the food quality has dropped from above average to below average. It use to be a nice place for specific north Indian curries. But when I visited recently, curry taste was deeply disappointing. Apart from that, roti was also kind of rough.
I agree, this restaurant stands for value for money. But food should justify at least is for some extent. And in my recent visit it was clear to me that they are least bothered about their quality.

EVERYTHING ELSE: This restaurant also serves dishes to the car (if you are lucky enough to find a place to park near restaurant), parking would be a problem as its situated in the heart of Jayanagar. If you see the kitchen it rises the alarm about hygiene.Ā

FINAL VERDICT: Still there is a lot of room for improvement in quality and also its right time for that. Because if the quality drops at this rate, this restaurant will surely join in pages of history of Jayanagar.
Suhas Manjunath
An old restaurant which I'm tasting their South Indian Cuisines which are relishing. This restaurant still packs with many customers for their awesome breakfast like Idly, Dosa and Kaapi! Thumbs up!
ABHIJITH SUDHAKAR
Have been visiting this place for ages... It's One of the oldest food joint in Jayanagar 4th block... I used to frequently visit this place for those delicious chats and Hot chocolate fudge and always opted for car service... This restaurant was closed for some time before it was redone and opened again... Taste, according to me has deteriorated to some extent... But it's still good.. Ambience is like any other darshinis... Prices are moderate... There's a service hall as well as self service.. They provide car service too... Service is quick..

We visited this restaurant and had a family dinner. Was worth money. Though its Ā old and ambience is not good , the quality of food was really good as compared to other good restaurant like maiyas . Ā But they take some time to serve food once you order. Recommend all the readers to visit this place for a Ā north vegetarian family dinner. It was a good experience for all of us here. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā

Overall a good experience.

Nice veg food for tiffin. Takes a bit extra time compared to other restaurants in J4th block area. Noodles were nice,Paper plain dosa and onion dosa was quiet oily.

Had to come to this place because I s not able to get a reservation in legendary Maiyya's.

Ambience poor, it's so dull you will start feeling claustrophobic after a while.

As expected management or people who serve ,just didn't give a damn. This is like blackberry/RIMs eclipse. Ten years back sukh Sagar was a go to restaurant. But eventually they never caught with time.

Coming to food it's an ordinary meal.
Roti and dal paneer butter masala great.

Unless you want to experience a north Indian restaurant of 90s. Thou may skip this!

Quite congested during peak hours. Not very space friendly. South Indian dishes are really good. North Indian dishes are not really worth it. Decently priced.

I was talking to my mom about this place, and learnt that it was almost 30 years old. If u were in jayanagar and in sukh sugar you had to eat a plate of sev dahi batata puri and end it with a gud bud.
1)Ambience- extremely simple. Just a place you can sit down and have. They have self service on the ground floor and one thing that hasn't changed from a long time is their Car service.
2)Menu- their chats and ice cream stand out. I always have sev dahi batata puri or their absolutely amazing ragada patties. Their gud bud being equally good. But again it's not the best for North Indian.
3)Price- Reasonable, doesn't punch a hole in your pocket at the same time one can expect to go home satisfied
Summary: Just a nice vegetarian place in jayanagar.

I have the fondest memories eating at this place! I can't even remember the first time I stepped into this restaurant. Been a regular customer for more than 20 years now. This popular eat out has a large loyal customer base who visit regularly. Place is packed most of the time(anytime of the day!).
Both the self-service counter and the restaurants upstairs have extremely quick service.Ā
Must trys:
Pav Bhaji
Dry Fruit Milk Shake
Masala Dosa
Onion Rava Masala Dosa
Roti Curry Combo and the Idly Vada Sambar at the self-service counters.

Almost everything on their menu tastes pretty good. Dosas, Ice creams and Chaats are their forte. So, next time you are on this side of the town, get a taste of the place without fail :)

It's One of the oldest food joints in Jaynagar ,Sukh sagar is popular mainly for its Pav bhaji , chats ,faloodas ,kulfis apart from the usual South Indian dosas .
The Jayanagar branch which has its weekly off on Wednesday is located near the Ganesha temple /Maiyas restaurant .
Decent ambience ,good service . My usual orders are Pav bhaji ,special bhel , veg noodles and falooda.

they are very renowned and they always live up to their fame. I wish I would have been staying near to this place, and could get my breakfast from this restaurant, everyday.

I have been eating here since I was a small kid. The food tastes the same as it did back then. Both South/North Indian food are very good. Except for Pav Bhaji Ā other Ā Chats are horrible, so I don't recommend Chats here. when it comes to after lunch\dinner Falooda, Milkshakes and Fruit salad with Ice cream are good.Ā
Place need an upgrade badly. looks dirty as soon as you go upstairs.

Food: Good.
Service: Can be better.
Ambiance: Average.
Value for money: Yes.

A really old and renowned restaurant of its times. I still remember this used to be a small place with I guess nearly 30-40 people seating capacity. And there used to # of cars lines up outside the restaurant to get food. And they used to also do service inside the car you sit.

Now, this place has got changed. They have modernised the entire setup, self service and the service being there at the 1st floor. I have tried eating some of the items like - Masala Dosa, Idly + Vada + Sambar, Poori + Saagu and Kesari Bath. They are all pretty good taste. I am glad that the taste is good but not the same as what it used to be.
Many times I have parcelled dinner and taken back home to eat.

I have also visited the 1st floor service section. Its again this modernised setup looking neat and clean. But, I always miss the taste of the old times.
If I am not wrong, there used to another famous items there ie., Mausambi Juice and Ice-creams. And few more items I remember taking there include - Sandwiches which used to be pretty good to taste.

Well, this restaurant is the perfect example of how people end up compromising quality for the modernisation. Fact of the matter is that, people in and around 4th block area will goto restaurant however it is. Atleast to taste it 1 time, folks will throng in there. And many times the populate restaurant like - Cool Join & Maiyaa are so crowded that people just donā€™t have choice.

Anyways, my overall rating for this restaurant is 3.0, would have loved to rate it more and might have if it was the old Sukh Sagar.
Food - 3.0/5
Ambience - 3.0/5
Service - 3.0/5
Drinks - 3.0/5

Its like any other 'Sagar' darshini... Nothing new but the quality standards are maintained! A place to visit just to relax from a busy schedule given you are well before the crowd... Else it will be an assured 20 min wait after 8pm !!
But if you don't fancy standing and a little limited varieties of food you can stand and eat downstairs at the self service section!

I've been going there for the past 30 yrs and the food has been consistently good. I have never had any complaints with either the food, service, or cleanliness in all these years. Great taste and reasonable prices.

Like the North Indian food here...they still have the typical sukh/shanti sagar style taste. Their car service is convenient.

Chats and idli sambar at one place that's sukh Sagar. It has been my first choice and it will always be.

No change in quality or the taste I would be going back for their lychee milk shake again.

I prefer the north thali with roti. Comfy seating in first floor. Exceptionally crowded on weekends.

Sukh Sagar is a very old food joint around Jayanagar 4th Block and has continually improved over the years serving with the same quality and taste.
I have been visiting this place quite a while now; almost since the last 15 years or so and before that my elders too.
Its a great place to grab some vegetarian food and Chaat Dishes.

A few years ago they used to serve only Chaat Dishes now they are multi-cuisine, expanded a little and yes that hasn't either dropped the quality or taste of the food they serve. You even have car service which is great if you want grab food quickly.

Recommended for:

* Sandwich's, Chaat dishes ( the Pani Puri is really flavourful and the Pani has an intense mint flavour unlike other places where its just diluted )
* Pav Bhaji's are wonderful too.
* Zippy Service and pocket friendly.

A great place to grab some good vegetarian food and nibble here in the evenings.
Highly recommended if you love Chaat and something to satisfy those evening hungers.
