Review The Mangalorean - Bengaluru

Cyril Lawrence
One of the best places for Mangalorean cuisine. The pork and fish items are just too good. Pricing is justified. Friendly staff. A simple ambience. But the food... Oh Yes! I'm gonna be a regular visitor.

Mangalorean Cuisine at Bangalore??Please head to Kammanahalli Junction and you will not be disappointed The place can accommodate around 70-80 pax at full capacity.A simple yet eye catchy ambience with more emphasis on tasty food. The Starters tried were • Chicken ghee roast- one of the best have tasted off late • Squid sukka- Not a great fan of Squid, but edible • Coorgi pork- a fine dish that tests the chefs experience and passion in whipping up a dish so special • Mushroom pepper fry- Good Main course • Sanna- glad I tried...too good • Neer dosa-Bot messy nor too dry...just right the way it ought to be. • Pork bafat-loved the dish • Kane curry-could have been far better,a disaster • Mutton curry-done well with the right ingredients and tender Mutton.Delicious... Dessert • Rice Mani with Jaggery- Just the right dessert to end your evening with. The Service is bit tardy and the servers sometimes feel lost. Some training on the soft skills would definitely help. Ratings- • Food-4/5 • Service-3.5/5 • Ambience-4/5 • Value for Money-4/5 AC-Not available and the place gets bit noisy from the outside traffic. Meal for 2 would cost around Rs 600/-.Both Cards and Cash accepted. Parking NOT Available due to Space Constraint. If you are in the area and crave for Mangalorean food, this is the place to be.

Paid my visit after so many research but long travel paid off with good food. Saanas are amazing and gravies of main course different in every dish. Tried something new called Rice Mani. Prawn ghee Roast and pepper mushrooms are heavenly in starter. Sol kadi must try. Here they are serving Mangalore cuisine but their own style and it's owned/managed by Dsouza company. Parking space may be bit difficult on working days. Overall experience was good. Brief Review Starters Chicken ghee roast - Just amazing big chunks with podi. Squid sukka - dry preparation of squid overloaded with taste. Coorgi pork - Heavenly. Mushroom pepper fry - I doubted a place well known for their seafood preparation will they able to cook veg well. But they proven me wrong and they are good in veg dishes as well. Prawn ghee roast - Must try with tail they served it which I like a lot. Main Course Sanna - To make a fermented dish this kind is not at all easy. In my language it's idly from Goa. They made it so well I had 4 . Neer dosa - Not Bad. Pork bafat - Well prepared. Kaanay curry - More than Kane the gravy was wow. Mutton curry - Who cares for chunks of mutton when the base gravy was mouth watering. Prawn Pulimunchi - We are discussing now about some food thumbs up. Rice Mani (with Jaggery) - Usually you will get Ragi Mani in the city it's a new thing for me as well. Bon Appetite Chef BB

The Mangalorean-food all the way from the coast and by passionate folks hailing from Mangalore. Located bang off Kammanahalli Signal near HBR layout, opened a year back, this is the place to go to relish some lip smacking Mangalorean food. The place can accommodate around 65-70 pax at full capacity. The ambience is pretty decent and done with lot of thought and passion to lift the mood of the patrons. The restaurant doesn’t serve any bottled aerated drinks nor bottled drinking water too. The Starters tried were 1. Chicken ghee roast- the chef has got the dish bang on right. Done with the right ingredients and spices... a joy to relish. 2. Squid sukka- loved the way it was cooked and tasted just right. 3. Coorgi pork- this dish speaks volumes about the chef’s experience in whipping up the dish to such heights of perfection 4. Mushroom pepper fry- Vegetarians out there-MUST TRY 5. Prawn ghee roast- Clearly the STAR DISH OF THE EVENING... OMF(Oh My Food)- Dear Chef... please take a bow for you have served the dish so good that we ordered thrice and yet we’re craving for more😛 The Main course tried were- 1.Sanna- Hot,Soft and Fluffy....Excellent 2.Neer dosa-One of Bangalore‘ finest have tried so far...went well with Mutton Curry and Kane Fish Curry. 3.Pork bafat-good 4.Kane curry-here have a difference about taste and feel the dish could have been better in terms of the masala used. Have tried countless Mangalorean style hotels with the favourite combination being Neer dosa and Fish Curry... this dish was a let down on my palate at least. 5.Mutton curry-as good as it can be and goes well with Sanna and White rice The Dessert tried - 1.Rice Mani -done with jaggery, this dessert is worth trying. A pleasant surprise, was bit apprehensive to try but was glad to be proved wrong. Taste was absolutely good and presentation is one aspect to be worked upon. The Service is efficient, the Servers are well trained and are ready to go the extra mile in keeping the patrons happy. No Air Conditioning here only Fans... could get bit suffocating. A large LED TV showing some sports channels for the sport freaks. Reservations not preferred... can just walk in.See more business on Swiggy and Zomato than on Dine-in. A meal for 2 would cost around Rs 700-800/-.Both Cards and Cash accepted. Kid friendly. Parking NOT AVAILABLE.Need to park the cars on bye- lanes.

Reasonable sea food restaurant. Especially Mangalore style. Liked the dishes. Those who like fish will like the variety they serve and also pork dish was also good. Veg options were average. For vegetarians this restaurant might be a waste of money as well as options other than neer dosa and other dosa and idly dishes. Seafood lovers will like this restaurant a lot. And they do have most of the fishes to be served. Both white rice and boiled rice is available. Clam shell dishes were also nice. Not the best in the world but definitely a try for mangalore style dishes especially in Bangalore.
rachel ziphorah
The food was amazing, we ordered seafood soup, neer dosa, prawn ghee roast, bagada tava fry and pork roast. You must try the prawn ghee roast it was my favourite.

Meruva Naga Rajesh
One of the best Mangalore style restaurant, reasonable prices compared to other restaurants, fish meals is very good. Must try neer dosa with prawns ghee roast. Sear fry is ok, not up to the mark.

We had done the bulk order of cocum juice, sannas, pork bafat ,chicken lolipop ,chicken roce curry, chicken biryani with raitha, sone sukkha and dal. Amazing food ...Authentic Mangalorean dishes.. Food was cooked in authentic mangalorean style. The guests loves the spread..Packing was done so neatly and delivered in time via app based service auto. No spillage and food was so hot and super tasty. P.S we have ordered nativity food from the menu last year and that was so delicious as well. Amazing and tasty food at The Mangalorean Kamannahalli Bangalore. Thank You.

Nice ambience, very polite host. Good food.

Randomly went in here, and the food was really good. I had the kori rotti with chicken and neer dosa was delicious, the bafat was quite good. The owner of the restaurant was also very friendly. Ambience is just ok, could be better. Over all it was a very satisfactory meal. Will definitely visit again.

The garlic tiger prawn, crab pepper masala and never dosa was excellent. quality. Service speed was average and very courteous. Overall experience was very good. An open communication to understand the customer need and receive feedback. Good value for money.

Visited this far situated place after hearing a very good review from my hubby. Situated in a good location. No doubt they are procuring fresh seafood and preparing the authentic Mangalore style. We have ordered a Chicken Salad, Crab Curry, Silverfish fry, Bangda Curry with rice. Dessert Ragi Manni is not available because of COVID. The pricing is around 700/- which is pocket friendly for sure as compare other seafood or Mangalorean places in Bangalore. The quantity and quality are satisfactory. Service timing is also good. They are adhering to almost all of the safety measures to prevent the Chinese virus. You can opt for home delivery for sure.

All the sukka dishes served have the same coconut base. The clam(marwai sukka) was tasty as per the base used however the main ingredient CLAMS were missing. We only got shells and had about jst 3-4 clams. I had ordered it for my friend who had never tasted clams and all we got was 3-4 clams and for obvious reasons only he could eat it and others got jst the coconut base to sit and eat. <br/>Chicken cutlets taste different each time it's ordered and in a bad way different. It was salty to another level and had multiple small bones in it. <br/>The green peas and aloo curry wid egg and boiled rice has become my new favourite and tastes delicious in every bite so ya thumbs up to this combo. I wanna continue ordering from you but really wish for u to work on this feedback and get the issues corrected for good
Gautam
Ordered fried prawns, squid ghee roast and paneer ghee roast. Squid and paneer were really good (though really spicy). Prawns were fresh and fried well (not too oily). Overall a good affair.

This was the 2nd time that I was ordering food from this place. My attraction was drawn instantly to the chicken ghee roast priced at Rs 280/- and you can make it boneless for 20/+ extra. I loved the consistency in the food, it was superb. Although I wished it was a little more "masaledar" (well it was a little dry) but the flavours weren't affected. Thanks a lot guys for satiating my ghee roast cravings.
Chandu Ammu
Nice hot food. Quantity is good. Reasonable cost. I come regularly to eat their fish thali.
Krishna Raj Rai
We ate Chinese food here. They serve good food. Reasonable price. Good people also
Gobin Ko Puja Mo
nice place for family to enjoy. nice food. nice ghee roast chicken and neer dosa. bangda tawa is tasty
Jackson Aishwarya
This is like a normal restuarant. Ambience is very average. Family restaurant. The chicken gheeroast was good. Only few places have the authentic taste and this place is one of them. Fish Pulimunchi was an utter dissapointment.<br/><br/>They accept Magicpin.
Daniel Selvaraj
One of the best places for Pork 😋
Pooja Kandula
We ordered Sanas and Neer dosa along with pork Vindaloo. The sanas were half cooked and Pork vindaloo was nothing but pork pieces in red color tomato sauce .
Aman Shaw
Not a good experience i was expecting a pure authentic mangolorean food. But anyways it's not that bad a visit.
Wilma Dsilva
By far the best Mangalorean food in blore! Loved it.. reasonable as well.. would recommended all my friends 😁

Worst place n stale food. Some items are quite expensive. Can never go again. As expected my stomach got severely upset next day. Avoid this hotel.
MEher
Had high expectations from this place and traveled all the way from whitefield to try some authentic Manglorean food.<br/><br/>Ordered Ghee roast Chicken, Ghee Roast Crab, Paneer Ghee roast biryani and beer dosas.<br/><br/>The ghee roast masala wasn't great.. was just too oily and greasy..<br/><br/>You can see the amount of oil left on the plates after the meal.<br/><br/>Will not repeat
Deepika Anvekar
All the items that we ordered, tasted very good and the quantity was also good. The restaurant owner offered us caramel custard pudding as a complimentary dish which was yummy and I ended up ordering one more :)
Gangadhara Gowda
We went here to eat here and had chicken ghee roast, anjal tawa, squid butter garlic, crab pepper fry all items were so good and tasty. Staff was courteous and helpful. Best part was it was budget friendly
Reuben Dilip Chelliah
Got back home just now after finishing a meal at The Manglorean. I have eaten Mangalore dishes in other parts of Bangalore but the dishes served here tasted the best. Try the neer dosa, sannas, and the mutton roce curry. Finally, don't miss the caramel custard. The entire meal felt light and I felt like eating more. Do visit this place if you love Mangalore cuisine.
Deekshith Devadiga
Chicken Ghee Roast is must try here. Not much spicy nor too much masala overloads. I have tried fish masala fry and squid Ghee roast as well. Definitely recommend.
Blogaberry Foo
We wanted some Mangalore cuisine and the food was great but extremely spicy for our systems. The neer dosa, chicken ghee roast, squid masala, mutton rice curry and all were tasty. We drowned the spice with some yummy fresh lime water. The staff was courteous and kind too.<br/>I would not put it under my recommendations because the ambiance and structure needs to be improved.

I've been craving chicken ghee roast for a few weeks now, and wasn't able to find the right place! This afternoon I stumbled across the cutest place and ordered it. This dish took me back to college when I would eat this every week!<br/><br/>The #kalyannagarfoodhunt has found yet another place to put on every foodie's list! Definitely my go to restaurant for chicken ghee roast and neer dosa!<br/>
Yasir
3 stars solely because the food was great. Rest they could improve. We ordered a fish tava fry, chicken ghee roast biryani, appams & stew. The food was lovely everything tasted great especially the chicken stew. Dishes were served quickly. They could improve on the behaviour of the staff & ambience can be kept a little more clean. There r other small restaurants too but they do have better service & cleanliness. Overall just go here for a quick meal 🥘

This place has got the best mangalorean food in bangalore.<br/>The chicken Sukka, prawn ghee roast, mutton roce curry and mutton biryani was so good and flavourful it was so perfect.<br/>The sannas, appam and Neer dosa was so soft and nice.<br/>We tried a drink called cocum which was very refreshing.<br/>All the dishes here were superb.I truly enjoyed it.<br/>I would recommend everyone try out this place
Stelida Fernandes
This was my first visit here and as the name says it’s the manglorean so I tried a lot of manglorean food. The sannas, appams, shevo, prawn ghee roast, chicken sukka, pork roast, mutton roce curry, mutton biryani. Every single dish here was a stand out. The sannas and aapams were so soft they felt like white soft clouds with the accompaniment of the mutton roce curry. On the whole a very good place to have your hearts out.

Had kubay mutli, bafat and Sanna here. It took me back to my hometown. Nice food and friendly staff. Must visit place if you crave for mangi food.
Raja Kumta
Ghee roast was nice.. But Biryani and fish fry was not up to the mark. I don't think it is fully authentic lyk mangaloorian food. We can find more restaurants near by which serves seafood.
Vandana
Food was tasty no doubt but cheats on MRP for water bottle that's not even cold. The menu doesn't mention cost of water. Restaurants like Moriz, Eat-a-pita and Onesta charge of on MRP.
Hashtag_Foodie
I’ve been ordering from this place and they’ve been consistent expect for the past few times with Ida’s special pork dish. Yesterday while I ordered it was pathetic half cooked, hard with no taste in the masala. Really disappointed.
Darshan Shetty
The food was not that great. Secondly the handwash area was shoddy. I gave 3 star only for Kori rooti that i liked somewhat. I will visit this place again too see if there is any improvement.

After a seafood craving ended in the mangalorean restaurant and it was good. With every possible type of seafood in menu was ordered squid, seer fish, clamps , prawns and silver fish in all varieties, accompanied with Sanas and neer dosa. The main course with chicken curry and prawn curry.<br/>Nothing was disappointing at all.<br/>Had a lot and paid a very reasonable price.<br/>It's definitely worth the money and time you spend in this nice amicable restaurant.
SWAPNA PRIYA
<br/>Disappointing...misleading.However not with the food. But their failure to keep their promised promotion of 20℅ off on final bill ( for the period of 4th March to 4th April). This option wasn't even mentioning to customers. Inspite of questioning the waiter on this offer, he wasn't aware and said the owner has left for the night. So we had to pay the full Bill, even though it fit all their criteria for a discount.<br/><br/>

Recently ordered two appetizers for lunch and thought they were quite good. Ordered one chicken sukka and one Chicken Ghee Roast. The sukka in my opinion was the better choice of the two as the spice combination and the meat quality was really good and paired perfectly with either rotis or some white rice. The Ghee Roast was a bit overpowering in terms of the Ghee used I thought as that was the only flavour I was tasting in that dish. Have had better Ghee roasts in other places. <br/><br/>But will definitely try more items from here as their menu looks real good and do recommend to try out. 👍🏽

On a boring weekday in office, my friends and I decided to try some new place for lunch and we decided to go here based on reviews and distance from office. We went here and ordered 6-7 different dishes, Prawn Ghee Roast, Chicken Ghee Roast, Neer Dosa, Anjal Fish Fry, Fish Thali, etc., Highlight - Prawn Ghee Roast. Too Good to be true.. Chicken ghee roast was also equally good. But we liked prawn ghee roast more. Biryani is little on a heavier side of masala, but it was good. I ate it full plate without any complaints. Ambience is nice and service is quick enough to not worry about office timings. :P Recommended for those who likes some mangalorean cuisine or seafood.
Shasti Ashwath
Seafood here is excellent! Loved the manglorean cuisine here. Had neerdosa and crab ghee roast. Must say that this place is very pocket friendly with great offers. It didn't let us pay through magic pin app though! Definitely will visit this place for crab ghee roast again!

Excellent food at decent prices!<br/>The seer fish rava / tava fry was excellent. One can easily identify that the fish was fresh and no lt frozen.<br/>The kaaney curry was really good and it went well with a portion of brown rice.<br/>Highly recommend this place.

The real Mangalore authentic food. Very good test<br/>Sarvice was good. I suggested this restaurant for all Mangalore food lover's . Hospitality is very good in restaurant

Went here yesterday with my mother, we are bunts from mangalore so you can imagine what our expectations would be when visiting such a place we ordered chicken curry, shavige, neer dosa, boiled rice, anjal rava fry and silver fish rava fry and a bottled water<br/><br/>The Access - 3 Parking is a headache<br/>The Ambiance- 5 place is clean and family friendly<br/>The People and service - 5 Friendly and understanding<br/>The Food - 4 shavige was pressed with a noodle maker which we didn't like neer dosa was more crepe than dosa the fault seemed to be use of rice flour to make the shavige balls and neer dosa batter, boiled rice was cooked perfectly (very few restaurants have impressed me specially with boiled rice) chicken curry and the fish where good no complaints there <br/>The Budget - 4 The food cost us 896<br/><br/>overall i would say a 4 for this restaurant <br/><br/>My suggestions for the restaurant keep up the friendly nature but loose the noodle maker a finer shavige maker made of brass with smaller holes can be bought in mangalore or places like puttur at a cheaper cost(may be pick one up when you travel) we still have what my dad bought 25 years ago, the rice flour for shavige works but its no where close to what you achieve by boiling ground rice batter its a little elbow grease but it will become a star product, the neer dosa should have grated coconut in it and should be made by sprinkling it on the hot pan.

Totally worth every penny.. I tried a simple combination of Boiled rice, with Dhal and a Mutton Ghee Roast.. of all the places I have eaten, I have never come across Mutton so succulent and soft.. just melts in your mouth, and the spicy ghee roast masala, is a perfect combination with Rice and Dhal.. Recommend you to try the Mutton Ghee Roast...

Since I've never tasted Mangalorean cuisine I'm no one to judge their food. This place is famous for authentic Mangalorean food, hence decided to visit. Place is good and the waiter had good knowledge about the dishes. I ordered Bhangda rava fry, prawns vindaloo, ghee rice, chapathi and chicken pulimunchi. Bhangda rava fry was crispy and fully covered with rava. Prawns vindaloo was sweet and spicy. Chicken pulimunchi was tangy in taste due to tamarind. Ghee rice was similar, garnished with dry fruits and fried onions. Ghee rice tastes good with prawns vindaloo and chicken pulimunchi. Overall taste was decent and light like home food. Ambience was simple and comfortable.

This place serves good sea food. Anjal rava fry, anjal masala fry, prawn ghee roast they are all just amazing here. What disappointed me was the chicken dishes here. Be it the chicken ghee roast or the chicken sukka both were not upto the mark. Neer dosa is good though.. and another thing that I love the most was the prawn ghee roast Biryani. Good place if you want to have sea food in Mangalorean style.<br/>Ambience -2.5/5<br/>Service - 3.5/5<br/>Food - 3/5<br/>

It a was a surprise Sunday visit as we had an urge to try out some some style food. And oh boy, Mangalorean was simply the right choice.<br/><br/>Their Chicken Ghee Roast, Sorpoathel and Pork bafat are amazing. They taste very homely, and are served piping hot.<br/><br/>Yes, the service time might be 5 mins longer than usual Indian cuisine restaurants, but, that's understood since all the food has to be cooked and assembled fresh<br/><br/>The interiors are very simple and neat and the owners are very hospitable.<br/><br/>We definitely thought it was worth the trip

Visited for dinner on a weekday night. We were the only customers, but the kitchen seemed to be getting online orders.<br/>We ordered a prawns pepper fry, neer dosa with Chicken pulimunchi and a solkadi. Prawns was perfect, neer dosa was perfectly done but lacking something that i could not put my finger to. Chicken pulimunchi was good and so was the solkadi, wished it was slightly cold though.<br/>Will be back to try the fish section and deliver my final verdict 😉.<br/>Service was attentive and the lady who runs the show knows her stuff 👍

It is ridiculous how we waited for such a long time only to receive a glass of lemon juice. When asked to the authorities the response were rude enough to cancel the order and leave.
Linus
No comments on the food because, despite waiting for 50 minutes, we weren't served any. The order wait time is quite ridiculous and when we enquired the same with the management, they were extremely curt with us and we honestly felt ill treated. Maybe this isn't the usual but it is completely unacceptable and not appreciated.

Living up to the name indeed.. if you are a mangy this is the place you have to try! The seafood doesn't have a nasty smell nor the place.. it's pure bliss with nice konkan style cuisine. Shud try the neer dosa with prawn ghee roast.! Being a mangalorean my parents love to visit this place to celebrate every occasion in the family..
Srj
Love the Neer dosa and Chicken Ghee roast here . If you like it a bit burnt like me ask them when you order . And if you are a vegetarian the special Jackfruit Biriyani is a must try .

This was my first order from this restaurant.<br/><br/>Like others I also ordered by see the ratings.<br/><br/>My ratings will be 0 star since I don't have that option I am give it as 1.<br/><br/>Reason :- Food was not fresh.. It was smelling very bad and I had to throw it away<br/>

To sum up our experience visiting this restaurant in one word is - Excellent !!!!<br/>I went there with my family.<br/>The ambiance is welcoming and warm.<br/>Lot of variety on menu to choose from.<br/>We ordered chicken ghee roast, prawns varuval, fish biryani and kokum kadi.<br/>We had ragi manni for dessert - which was a pleasant surprise.<br/>The food was tasty and quantity was sufficient.<br/>Correctly spiced and aromatic.<br/>Full value for your money.<br/>No room for any complaints and disappointment.<br/>I will definitely like to visit this place more often.<br/>

Just had my lunch. Had ordered Sole fish Pulimunchy, Seer Fish green masala and a Silver fish crispy fry through Swiggy. <br/><br/>The Pulimunchy was amazing...spice and tanginess level was bang on...loved it ...The Seer fish was fresh but there was nothing extraordinary...may be had high expectations.....<br/><br/>Silver fish crispy was a disappointment because the batter was chewy, and wasn’t crispy....it was fish version of veg crispy ...personally, doesn’t go with fish ...<br/><br/>Would try more from this place !
Deepak Vs
We ordered some sides for our whiskey and it indeed served the purpose well.
Sharon AJ
Great food and friendly owners! They have some really good seafood is what I am told since I don’t eat seafood. <br/>However, the staff are quite nice and recommend based on your palette. <br/><br/>The ambience is average.

After reading positive reviews about this place, One Afternoon went searching for this place. Being a Goan was craving for a good Fish Curry rice. Ordered Their "Executive Fish Thali" for a Take away. Opened it after reaching Home and got so disappointed. The fish fry was not a fish but a head of Mackeral (Picture Attached). Immediately Called the restaurant Number. The lady who picked up the call was so rude an she asked me to bring the Parcel back and take the money. Never again....

THE BEST MANGALOREAN RESTAURANT IN BANGALORE<br/><br/>This place is the BEST.<br/>Best in terms of quality, taste, hygine, ambience and even pricing.<br/>I have been dining here ever since February, since we live close by, and I have always found the taste and quality consistent. The owner/manager Carol is so passionate about what they are doing that It clearly shows in the food they serve. The ambience is lovely with comfortable seating and they also have a great taste in music (love that).<br/><br/>I always order dessert first - RAGI MANNI, and oh man, little did I know how crazy I go for this dish. The caramel custard is really good too, but ragi manni stole my heart. Its simple and delectable, way better than the ones I've tried in other Mangalorean restaurants in the city! <br/><br/>Now, since Im a vegan, I have a huge list of options in this restaurant, and you should know how boring the vegetarian dishes in almost all restuarnts are, here we have an exception. <br/>Almost everything I've tried here is 10/10.<br/>My favourites are the Mix Veg Sukka (Coconuty to the core), breadfruit tava fry(its quite fancy), the veg cutlets, the Daliso saar is amaaazing, mushroom vindaloo is rich and delicious. I am yet to try the Jackfruit biryani, because its mostly served as day's specials and Ive missed it. There was a special vegetarian (actually 100% vegan by chance) menu for the Mother Mary's feast, and they served the traditional magalorean dishes like ALLUM DENTO KADI, AMBADAY MOOG SUKKA,TENDLI ANI SONNEY SUKKA, BENDE ROCE, and VORN. I was just so happy to actually try out traditional mangalorean food, each of these dishes were heavenly.<br/><br/>My partner usually orders the pork roast/pepper fry, chicken ghee roast (you can ask them to burn the masala more if you like it that way), prawn ghee roast, Bngda masal fry, seer ghee roast, with sannas, neer dosa, ghee rice and he is a fan! Even the simple veg meal is so satisfactory here.<br/><br/>We also place catering orders for our shoots from here and people always seem to enjoy the food. When you visit do checkout the days specials.

Worst experience ever! There was hair in my food. Whatever I ordered was not tasty at all- fish fry, neer dosa, sannas, mix veg sukka. Also, I was charged 30 rupees for a water bottle that costs 20 rupees MRP. First and last time.
Rohit Ranjan
Awesome food all over. Their ghee roast is pretty authentic. <br/><br/>I would say that this is a great place to discover and try Mangalorean cuisine. <br/><br/>My only issue was the quantity of onion and cucumber in the salad, but I'm sure they can fix it easily.
Priyanka Hebsur
Authentic mangalorean cuisine. Their ghee roast is a must try. Worth the price. Their ghee rice was also very good. Cocum juice is also very refreshing.
Little Mermaid
We had ordered biryani from here through Zomato. It was really dry and tasteless. It was not worth the money at all. The gravy given as accompaniment did no justice either.<br/><br/>I would like to reiterate my review of 1* based on how the restaurant has responded to the feedback and sent me 2 complimentary chicken biryanis today to redeem the biryani rice I had ordered earlier. The chicken biryani was far superior and moist. The chicken was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed it as a family. Thank you Mrs. Carrie D'souza for going the extra mile for your customers. Great attitude will take your business a long way. God bless.
Ambika Maggu
Loved the place. <br/>Things I loved kori roti with chicken curry, the chicken ghee roast biryani was amazing. Not a huge fan of pork but the pork there was definitely something that I would recommend. Will go there again soon

From the day I step into Karnataka I Always wanted to try Mangalorean Food and yo I got a chance through The Mangalorean.<br/><br/>A simple cosy place with not much decors in the streets of Kammanahalli can be located easily and parking is fine. Mangalorean cuisine is my favourite cuisine and this restaurant located at Kammanahalli has a big screen for sport lovers. There's also a wall of full of pictures drawn by kids.<br/><br/>The Chicken ghee roast was flavourful, the way it's supposed to be. The Coorgi pork, another dish to relish tasted great. But my favourite was the Prawns Ghee Roast. Being a lover of Prawns, this was just perfect.<br/><br/>The Mutton curry with Sannas and Neer dosa was great to finish a lovely evening.

I really wanted to try mangalorean cuisine for a long time hence headed forward to this restaurant. The ambience is very simple but neat and tidy. The food is little spicy but I am sure that anyone who tries here will love it. <br/><br/>Starters:-<br/><br/>Chicken ghee roast- was very tasty and spicy<br/><br/>Squid sukka- squid or calamari as you may call it was fried with various spices. It's a must try.<br/><br/>Coorgi pork- this was an okay item<br/><br/>Mushroom pepper fry- mushrooms were very well fried and went well with need dosa<br/><br/>Prawn ghee roast- the taste is similar to chicken ghee roast- but prawn obviously has it's own taste.<br/><br/>Solkadi - was served as a beverage. It is probably an acquired taste which I didn't like much.<br/><br/>Main course:-<br/><br/>Sanna- this is something which is very similar to idli and goes perfectly with any gravy.<br/><br/> Tried Neer dosa with Pork bafat, Mutton curry, Prawn Pulimunchi. It was extremely good. Neer dosa was soft and not heavy on the stomach at all.<br/><br/>Dessert:-<br/><br/>Rice Mani (with Jaggery)- I tried this item for the first time. At first it tasted like sweet pongal, but the taste it unique. Absolutely enjoyed it.<br/><br/>Overall the food was really good.

The Mangalorean- <br/>Always a fond of trying different cuisine so decided to try the Mangalorean cuisine restaurant located at Kammanahalli, Bangalore. Ambiance is not too much over done not too less, simple basic with big screen for sport lovers, Cozy & comfortable seating, A wall of full of pictures drawn by kids & not to forget the amazing food they serve. Everyone wants a restaurant with air conditioners, but when the food is good in taste it hardly matters. Along with Mangalorean cuisine, they also serves konkani style food.<br/><br/>Now coming to the food, we ordered Chicken ghee roast, Squid sukka, Coorgi pork. The portions served were good enough for 2 people and the chunks of chicken/Squid/pork were succulent & fresh. Marination was done perfectly.<br/><br/>In mains, we choose *Mutton curry* & *Kaanay curry* which was good to go with a Sanna & Neer dosa.<br/><br/>In Dessert, we opted for Rice Mani which is a kind of rice pudding a perfect end to the dinner.<br/><br/>If you are missing the mangalorean home-made food in Bangalore, this place is to look at. A decent South Indian experience at "The Mangalorean". I was happy with the service as well.

The Mangalorean Located at kammanahalli<br/>If you are looking for some good Mangalorean food this place is perfect to reach out and end up your carving for Mangalorean foods.<br/><br/>Ambience is quite simple and basic. They don't have an AC section so if you are fond of AC seating you will miss that but yes you will enjoy the food for sure. The seating is quite comfortable and has quite descent space to fill up about 60 people.<br/><br/>Food :- As the name suggest what the specialty is more of the Mangalorean touch in their foods and yes they have some of the dishes you will love it with perfect spices and marination the chicken ghee roast was the one of them which I liked a lot. Pork bafat and coorgi pork was too equivalently awesome and Other than that we had many more dishes which are listed below<br/><br/>What we had :-<br/><br/>Starters :-<br/>Chicken ghee roast<br/>Squid sukka<br/>Coorgi pork<br/>Mushroom pepper fry<br/>Prawn ghee roast<br/><br/>Solkadi - drink<br/><br/>Sanna<br/>Neer dosa<br/>Pork bafat<br/>Kaanay curry<br/>Mutton curry<br/>Prawn Pulimunchi<br/><br/>Dessert :- Deserts are love but when made with a perfectly home touch then it becomes more loving and awesome to have it and Rice Mani does that perfectly.<br/>Rice Mani (with Jaggery)

Mangalorean Cuisine at Bangalore??Please head to Kammanahalli Junction and you will not be disappointed <br/><br/>The place can accommodate around 70-80 pax at full capacity.A simple yet eye catchy ambience with more emphasis on tasty food.<br/><br/><br/>The Starters tried were<br/><br/>• Chicken ghee roast- one of the best have tasted off late<br/>• Squid sukka- Not a great fan of Squid, but edible <br/>• Coorgi pork- a fine dish that tests the chefs experience and passion in whipping up a dish so special <br/>• Mushroom pepper fry- Good <br/><br/><br/>Main course<br/><br/>• Sanna- glad I tried...too good <br/>• Neer dosa-Bot messy nor too dry...just right the way it ought to be.<br/>• Pork bafat-loved the dish<br/>• Kane curry-could have been far better,a disaster<br/>• Mutton curry-done well with the right ingredients and tender Mutton.Delicious...<br/><br/>Dessert <br/><br/>• Rice Mani with Jaggery- Just the right dessert to end your evening with.<br/><br/>The Service is bit tardy and the servers sometimes feel lost. Some training on the soft skills would definitely help.<br/><br/>Ratings-<br/><br/>• Food-4/5<br/>• Service-3.5/5<br/>• Ambience-4/5<br/>• Value for Money-4/5<br/><br/>AC-Not available and the place gets bit noisy from the outside traffic.<br/><br/>Meal for 2 would cost around Rs 600/-.Both Cards and Cash accepted.<br/><br/>Parking NOT Available due to Space Constraint.<br/><br/>If you are in the area and crave for Mangalorean food, this is the place to be.

Food - 4.5/5<br/>Ambience - 4.5/5 ( Small and cute eatery with a homely feeling )<br/>Price - 4/5<br/>Hygiene- 4/5<br/>Service - 4.5/5<br/>Parking - 3.5/5 ( Might need to struggle in this part of Bengaluru)<br/>Fire Safety- Kitchen is not blocking exit. No visible fire safety equipment or secondary exit. Restaurant is located on ground floor on main road.<br/><br/>Indian cuisine always surprises me, although I had a good fortune to taste most of the cuisines geographically.<br/>I was always in love with mangalorean food and specially chicken ghee roast and after coming here I realized that there is even a sub section of mangalorean food in form of Christian mangalorean preparation. Well there is not much of a difference in taste drastically but there is one hue of difference in the flavour that the Christian Mangalorean cuisines offers. So they use a little bit of less of Red Chillies for colouring and the hotness uses less of Red chilli. So you get a little variant of Mangalore food that we are generally used to eating. Definitely the food was enjoyable and that little difference made the experience even more enjoyable.<br/><br/>Coming to the details of what we had.<br/><br/>🍗🍗<br/>"Chicken ghee roast" as usual has been my favorite chicken dish since ever. and whenever I go to a new mangalorean restaurant I always pray that this dish turns out well. So was I satisfied? The answer would be definitely yes. The good use of ghee and tender chicken went perfectly well. But however I would like to mention about that there was a bit of inconsistency in the multiple plates of chicken ghee roast that was ordered.<br/>One of them had very less ghee and masala in it. But overall I would like to give it a full marks on preparation and taste.<br/><br/>🦑🦑<br/>"Squid Sukka" was nicely made with the rings not too soft and not too chewy. The masala wasn't right proportion and tasted very well separately as well as with the neer dosa.<br/><br/>🦐🦐<br/>"Prawn Ghee Roast" was also good with medium shaped prawn and the masala as usual was good and went along well.<br/><br/>✔️✔️<br/>"Sanna" was something I had for first time and I really loved it. So it is almost like Idli but with cylindrical in shape and more fluffy. It went very well with the chicken ghee roast and other Ghee roast items.<br/><br/>🍄🍄<br/>"Mushroom Pepper Fry" was fried well and spicy but took the second fiddle to other non veg items. It was good on taste though.<br/><br/>🐐🐐<br/>"Mutton Curry" was prepared in a nice coconut curry and it really tasted well. The taste was very fragnant and Soul satisfying both.<br/><br/>🐟🐟<br/>"Kanney Curry" was decent. As not much used to taste of this fish, can't comment much on it. But was enjoyable and my friends liked it too.<br/><br/>🦐🦐<br/>"Prawn Pullimunchi" was done the perfect way and it was lip smacking spicy and great to eat. most importantly the bronze where to fresh and delicate and it complimented well with the masala.<br/><br/>🍚🍚<br/>"Neer Dosa" was something which I felt could be improved. Although neer dosa doesn't have any taste of its own still it has a bit of fragnance and softness which seemed less here. It was bit rubbery I felt.<br/><br/>🍵🍵<br/><br/>In the drink, "Sol Kari" which tasted more of tempered butter milk was refreshing and strong drink to have.<br/><br/>🍨🍨<br/>"Rice Mani" was an excellent desert we ended our treat with. A departure from traditional ragi mani, it was well thought and well made rice pudding sorts in form of cake.<br/><br/>Many thanks to the owner was very wam on hospitality and the restaurant staff who took very good care and bought us the food real quick.<br/><br/>Although it is bit far from my place I would definitely love to come back for a bout of chicken ghee roast and neer dosa.

A well lit outlet on the busy roads of kamanhalli, this place does a total justice to the cuisine they served. Paid my visit after so many research but long travel paid off with good food. Saanas are amazing and gravies of main course different in every dish. Tried something new called Rice Mani. Prawn ghee Roast and pepper mushrooms are heavenly in starter. Sol kadi must try.<br/><br/>Here they are serving Mangalore cuisine but their own style and it's owned/managed by Dsouza company. Parking space may be bit difficult on working days. Overall experience was good.<br/><br/>Brief Review<br/><br/>Starters<br/>Chicken ghee roast - Just amazing big chunks with podi.<br/>Squid sukka - dry preparation of squid overloaded with taste.<br/>Coorgi pork - Heavenly.<br/>Mushroom pepper fry - I doubted a place well known for their seafood preparation will they able to cook veg well. But they proven me wrong and they are good in veg dishes as well.<br/>Prawn ghee roast - Must try with tail they served it which I like a lot.<br/><br/>Main Course<br/>Sanna - To make a fermented dish this kind is not at all easy. In my language it's idly from Goa. They made it so well I had 4 .<br/>Neer dosa - Not Bad.<br/>Pork bafat - Well prepared.<br/>Kaanay curry - More than Kane the gravy was wow.<br/>Mutton curry - Who cares for chunks of mutton when the base gravy was mouth watering.<br/>Prawn Pulimunchi - We are discussing now about some food thumbs up.<br/><br/>Dessert<br/>Rice Mani (with Jaggery) - Usually you will get Ragi Mani in the city it's a new thing for me as well.<br/><br/>Bon Appetite Chef BB

The Mangalorean-food all the way from the coast and by passionate folks hailing from Mangalore.<br/><br/>Located bang off Kammanahalli Signal near HBR layout, opened a year back, this is the place to go to relish some lip smacking Mangalorean food.<br/><br/>The place can accommodate around 65-70 pax at full capacity. The ambience is pretty decent and done with lot of thought and passion to lift the mood of the patrons.<br/><br/>The restaurant doesn’t serve any bottled aerated drinks nor bottled drinking water too.<br/><br/>The Starters tried were<br/><br/>1. Chicken ghee roast- the chef has got the dish bang on right. Done with the right ingredients and spices... a joy to relish.<br/>2. Squid sukka- loved the way it was cooked and tasted just right.<br/>3. Coorgi pork- this dish speaks volumes about the chef’s experience in whipping up the dish to such heights of perfection <br/>4. Mushroom pepper fry- Vegetarians out there-MUST TRY<br/>5. Prawn ghee roast- Clearly the STAR DISH OF THE EVENING... OMF(Oh My Food)- Dear Chef... please take a bow for you have served the dish so good that we ordered thrice and yet we’re craving for more😛<br/><br/>The Main course tried were-<br/><br/>1.Sanna- Hot,Soft and Fluffy....Excellent <br/>2.Neer dosa-One of Bangalore‘ finest have tried so far...went well with Mutton Curry and Kane Fish Curry.<br/>3.Pork bafat-good <br/>4.Kane curry-here have a difference about taste and feel the dish could have been better in terms of the masala used. Have tried countless Mangalorean style hotels with the favourite combination being Neer dosa and Fish Curry... this dish was a let down on my palate at least.<br/>5.Mutton curry-as good as it can be and goes well with Sanna and White rice<br/><br/><br/>The Dessert tried -<br/>1.Rice Mani -done with jaggery, this dessert is worth trying. A pleasant surprise, was bit apprehensive to try but was glad to be proved wrong. Taste was absolutely good and presentation is one aspect to be worked upon.<br/><br/>The Service is efficient, the Servers are well trained and are ready to go the extra mile in keeping the patrons happy.<br/><br/>No Air Conditioning here only Fans... could get bit suffocating.<br/><br/>A large LED TV showing some sports channels for the sport freaks.<br/><br/>Reservations not preferred... can just walk in.See more business on Swiggy and Zomato than on Dine-in.<br/><br/>A meal for 2 would cost around Rs 700-800/-.Both Cards and Cash accepted.<br/><br/>Kid friendly.<br/><br/>Parking NOT AVAILABLE.Need to park the cars on bye- lanes.

The food wasn't good. I've had the pork vindaloo in Goa, Coorg and I did not find it good here. Chapati was too bad and most of their dishes were average.

I ordered Pundi curry and neer dosa via zomato yesterday.I was charged 240Rs for pundi curry and was very dissapointed with both quantity and quality. The quantity was so less that it wouldnt be enough even for 1 adult .it hardly had 2 pundis and 2-3 small chicken pieces. When i pay 240Rs i do expect some respectable quantity not so less as to not even be enough for 1 person.Quality wise there was not even little extra curry in it and it tasted as if they had sent 1 day old curry.overall a very very bad experience trying out food from this restaurant and will never ever order food from here.<br/>Well if some people feel this is one of the best Mangalore style restaurant in bangalore i guess they have not tried in better places in Bangalore.

The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. A very good experience! Add this to the list of must try restaurants in Bangalore.

Had heard a lot about this place.. So thought of trying some mangalore food with friends. We had ordered Cream of chicken soup, pork pepper fry, fish fry and chicken biryani. But I was very disappointed with the taste of every food item.. They have a nice menu with variety of options but it was no justice to the taste. I would never try it again.<br/>Ambience - 3/5<br/>Staff behaviour - 4/5<br/>Food - 1/5<br/>Cleanliness - 3.5/5

Abhi V - does this restaurant really get good reviews? 🤔 or did we go on a random day when the staff was in a mood to say NO to anything we ordered or maybe take ages to get ice cream on the table. Went to this place on a Thursday night and only one table was occupied throughout our stint of time from 8-10... which was ours. Whats with the babycorn starter- it tasted bland! No paneer starter, no mushrooms. All they had was babycorn for the vegetarians. Biryani made at home still tastes better. The chicken creamy soup was very creamy and tasted milky. Pork ordered as a starter and as a main course had no difference in taste or appearance. Will not visit this again.

The ambience and the service feel is that of a very homely place .The Mangalorean couple who run this place are sweet and courteous .It's got a homestay feel.<br/>The food almost tastes like home cooked.<br/>We had a kokum which was balanced in sweetness and rightly chilled .<br/>We had a round of pork pepper fry , Chicken urval Silver fish fry as starters<br/>For the main course we had the much recommended Green Mutton Masala and Appam<br/>We had a round of neer dosa and chicken ghee roast.<br/>The chicken ghee roast was slightly different in terms of masala treatment but was tasty nevertheless

I hope the management follows through on improving the biryani and makes it better. <br/>Management is keen on improvement that the cooking team needs some catching up to do.
