Review Chikkanna Tiffin Room - Bengaluru

Dinesh Perspective
A very famous place from 1965. All the limited items on their menu are all very good. Kaali, Masale and pudi Masale Dose must try totally loaded with Ghee. But pricing is little bit expensive. Also as it's a very old place it's small and mostly crowded all the time It's better to go early in the morning when they open. We tried... Pudi Idly, Kali Dosa, Bath Masala Dosa, Mini Masala Dosa.

Good place for some authentic South Indian breakfast. We had been here on a Sunday morning, so was a little crowded. There is no seating available and very minimal parking space nearby. What I ate: • Pudi Idli • Vada • Pulav (Rice bhat) • Ghee Pudi Masala Dosa • Coffee and Tea Pudi idli and Pudi Masala dosa were the highlights. The sagu served along with the idli and Pulav added to the flavour of the dishes.

Must try Pudu idli Open ghee dose Mini madala dose also good Don't miss coffee

The hype for this place is apt and worth visit. Amazing dosas and idlies are served here. podi idly my first experience and it was sooo soft, podi on the idly little toasted on tawa with loads of ghee on it. podi masala dosas will litterally melt on your mouth. I highly recommend everyone to visit atleast once which will change your mindset as the place is very small but i recall the famous quote "Don't judge a book by it's cover" this place is pretty old i guess more than 60+years

One of the older establishments in Bangalore this branch in cubbonpete is the best. The dosa is soft and crispy and the chutney is mildly spiced. Must try if you are a dosa lover. The pulse is also tasty. A busy breakfast place on weekends specially , you might have to wait a bit, but it’s worth it .

It was indeed my first visit here, eatery established in year 1965 its oldest and stands for quality and taste.kali dosa, pudi Idli , rice bath which I tasted is very good. Chutney taste is really good

It's my top favourite dosa point right now. Lovely ghee roast super crispy dosa and their pudi is super yum. Loved the pudi masala dosa and pudi bath masala dosa both, if you're here try both of them coz they taste different. Also the pudi idli is lovely but the vada was a major dissapointment, as it was cold and dry and not at all crispy. Would love to visit this place again very soon.

Even though we live in a city known for coffee thr r few places only who make perfect filter coffee and chilkanna tiffin room is one of those places. Food is definitely good here but i recommend the filter coffee as a must try .

Mini pudi masale dose was good but nothing special.

We tried "full" masala dosa (half masala dosa is also available) here. It was good and sufficient for breakfast. They serve dosa with the spicy green coconut chutney, which is the right accompaniment in my view. Also, they apply chutney inside the dosa, which makes the dosa to standalone. We asked for kempu chutney as well, which was again spicy and nice. We reached here on Sunday, around 8 am. It was crowded, and it took ~ 10mins to get our order. Also, first time we saw rice bath inside the masala dosa here, but didn't try because we were already full.

Yalakki Chilkkanna Tiffin Room is one of the oldest resturants in Bangalore serving crispy Ghee Masala Dosa since 1965. Although the main branch is located Cubbonpet, City Market. I tried in thier second branch at Sheshadripuram. The signature dish here 'The Mini Masala Dosa' is prized possession of Chikkannas Tiffin Room. The Dosa is perfectly roasted to reddish brown on the outside, and on the inside it is as soft as sponge. The masala dosa comes here with the green chutney filling unlike many restuarants which use red chutney. Each bite of dosa with potato palya and chutney is mouth watering and heavenly. Must Try : Mini Masala Dosa Kali Dosa Pudi Idli Filter Coffee Location- 8, 10, 1st Cross Rd, 4th Block, Kumara Park West, Seshadripuram, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560020

Chikkanna Tiffin Room so called CTR. One of the place from my bucket list and got a chance to visit today evening. Had read about their taste being consistent since several decades of their service and yes, truly fulfilled. We ordered: Idly, Vada(no pic), Plain dosa, mini pudi masala dosa, kaali dosa. Idly texture made me to fall in love with this place. Wah!! It’s so mushy. Chutney is something quite different in taste and it’s was a perfect combination. Vada was normal. Mini pudi masala dosa was the highlight. Ultimate taste because, dosa’s crunchy texture is well aligned with pudi and chutney. Slightly ghee was applied. I can’t get rid off the taste. Every bite of pudi masala dosa was extremely delightful and thoroughly enjoyed. Dosa batter is distinct and when you bite, you feel that crunchiness till you swallow. The taste of ghee was sticked to my fingers 🤤 Plain dosa was delicious as they had spread chutney inside dosa to make the texture soft. Kaali dosa is actually plain dosa and it’s served plain. I requested for ghee and you can see extra ghee is served with an extra charge, but I was fortunate and I wasn’t charged for that. Ghee on kaali dosa felt like I’m floating in ghee pool 😆 finger licking taste. They serve pulav during evening time, by the time I went it was over, so I couldn’t taste. By morning time they serve, puliogare or lemon rice as well along with the actual food items mentioned on their menu. Bath dosa is something that people prefer here and I couldn’t taste this as well due to time constraint. They serve Badam milk, coffee & tea during morning and evening time as well. I could able to speak to owner himself and he was so generous. It is a fast food hotel and self served. Altogether gem of a place in heart of the Bengaluru city to fulfill your taste buds. Must visit place.

"Must Visit - the taste of South Indian Dosa " , it's definitely worth it, highly recommend this place to have dosa and idly, you can definitely feel the true south Indian taste here, must try their pudi idly, masala dosa, pudi dosa and bath dosa which tastes fantastic, owner is nice and good, very friendly environment , amazing and fast service ,it's a pocket friendly place to have food and place is very hygienic, overall I would totally recommend this place everyone and would like to rate 100/10.

The good thing about this place is everything they serve is equally balanced both in terms of quality and taste that you can never be disappointed. Their coffee and masala dosa is my go-to order. If you want to try good south indian food this place is a must try.

One of the best dosas you can ever have. Pure ghee roast. Prepared hygenically right in front of you. Mouth watering taste and worth the wait and the money. Topped it up with a coffee. Incredible taste!

This outlet of Chikkanna Tiffin Room is located in KumarPark west near Seshardipuram Composite & Law college and it is having a branch in City Market. This is one of the oldest Dosa points in around Bangalore still existing.<br/><br/>Best place to hang out for Dose lovers. Chikkanna Tiffin Room have options like Rice Bath, Dosa and Idly items. They have an option to stand inside, outside of the restaurant and there is no sitting arrangements available in the restaurant.<br/><br/>I have tried Mini Benne Masla Dosa, Coffee, Uddina Vada, Idly here and the taste of the Dosa is very authentic to Chikkanna, it was crispy and it is served with a combination of Gatty Chutney, Tomato Chutney and one can expect Uddina Vada is too soft and crispy enough to eat.<br/><br/>Overall, <br/>Food- 4.5/5<br/>Service - 4/5<br/>Ambiance - 3.5/5<br/>Value for money - 3.5/5<br/>Overall Rating - 4

Its an all time great place for dosa , idly , rice . I have been CTR follower from its cubbonpet days . Khali dosa & mini masala dosa are the best ,

This place can be counted for best ghee masala dosa serving hotel in Bangalore. Darshini type food joint. Located near to seshadripuram College. It has a branch at chickpete.

One amazing place to have dose and idly in sheshadri puram. This is the Branch of chikkanna in cubbonpet. Taste is very similar to that.. there hot piping idli with sagu chutney and ghee is best.. lemon rice was ok. There dose is the best as always.. and hot strong coffee with milk froth on top is just u need to finish here...

Bisi bisi dose. Tell me a better breakfast option and I'll wait .<br/>In love with this place and the food . The dose here is what defines Bangalore and it's love for authentic crispy dose with filter coffee .<br/>Light on the pocket. Yet heavy on your stomach. This place dwells in the street of Malleswaram and is no doubt one of the best for authentic dose and idli with some filter coffee to go by !!!!

Items missing no sambar no pachdi wit rice

Tasty and soft idlis.. Even the vadas are crisp have a different taste. Mini masala dosa and the perfect bitter not to sweet coffee was definitely a treat to my stomach.

Among the top 3 places for masal dose in Bangalore. This is truly a gem that is located in one of the narrow lanes of Kumara Park. Unfortunately it's not as well known as its bigger namesake which is just a kilometre away. Would suggest to try masala dose. Though there are good reviews on Zomato for plain dose, I did not find it extraordinary. I hope more people discover this place and I encounter bigger and bigger crowd whenever I visit it in future

What you crave for in the evening?.<br/>You may say pani Puri, sev Puri, bajji, blah blah etc etc.<br/>But most of the bengalurean's would say DOSE 🤩😍.<br/><br/>That too these rainy evenings in Namma ooru just makes you crave more n more.<br/><br/>To satisfy this crave I just headed to chikkanna tiffin rooms in sheshadripuram.<br/>Ordered my all time favourite ghee mini. Woah 🤩😋 what a magic it has in it. The amount of ghee and that gatti chutney is real crazy.<br/><br/>After a heavenly dose I got my hands to the strong filter coffee. As you just sip in , the hot coffee first hits your palate exploding it's coffee flavour and then hits your gut, there you go mad. The coffee blends with the ghee that was in your gut line and the mix gives you a flavour. Ahhh! Can't explain that happiness. PARAM AANANDA.<br/><br/>

While Chikkanna has been as iconic as it can get, and I've actually relished some good food here. Experience today has dealt a blow to everything. Had ordered idly, vada and dosa via Zomato delivery and while the delivery was on time and as we were relishing the breakfast, out come a board pin from one of the idli's. Thankfully the person who was having it managed to not swallow it, the repercussions of which is scary ! While taste and service is a standout, not focusing on quality and safety is a big let down.

Undoubtedly Chikkanna Tiffin Room is one among the best dosas we get in Bangalore. This place is mostly crowded however service is quick and fast . Masala dosa is absolutely delicious , it’s crisp and tasty accompanied with spicy thick chutney . Mini masala is filling , so if you are a first timer donot make a mistake of ordering regular dosa , until you have a big appetite 😉. One must try their GHEE KALI DOSA AND GHEE IDLY ( with sambar ) , they are equally good. The quality of ghee and butter they use is very good . They do have pudi masala and pudi bath masala , however felt it is too heavy on taste . After a good tasty treat you can end it on a higher note with hot filter coffee. On the whole it’s a must try and highly recommended place .<br/>Taste : 4.5 / 5<br/>Ambience : 3/5<br/>Value for money : 4/5

Items ordered were good.&nbsp; &nbsp; There was no sambhar provided for idli or vada.&nbsp; Was not fully satisfied as per the cost.&nbsp; Will not think of ordering again.

We thought 2 idli for ur rates, but we have received only one idli, u people cheated us simply waste of money, don't cheat like this. We never experienced like this

Amazing food. Had mini Masala Dosa, Khali Dosa, idli, and rice bath. Everything was yummmm. Khali Dosa and idli are the best. I would definitely visit again here.<br/>

Good old days charm Dosa (Crispy outer , soft inner) !! I have been waiting to go here for a few years 😀.. Tried the open mini and the Ghee Masala Dosa. Greasy, flavourful, tasty and filling 👌👌. Is I must stay distinctive from the many other popular Dosa in Bangalore. Finished the breakfast experience on a high with hot filter kaapi. Must try Dosa in Namma Bengaluru!!

Bangalore is lucky to have so many dosa places and chikkana tiffen room is such place. This is branch of chikkana tiffen room, cubbonpete. On my way to chitrasanthe I visited this place to have my breakfast. Had mini masala dosa and thuppad Khali dosa. Loved both of them, they are too good but I loved original chikkanna more than this. But I will definitely recommend this place for all the dosa lovers to try.

Went after reading a million reviews and seeing mouth watering pics of the much hyped Thuppa Khali dosa - and yes it totally lived up to the expectations. The aloo palya-ghee combination is divine. The sambar with idli was equally amazing - only concern was that the chutney was slightly cold. <br/>
~Trencher Man~ 😋
It's brilliant!!!<br/><br/>Dosa and idly chutney at its best! Located near Sheshadripuram College!! 😃<br/><br/>Items they offer are really good!! 😋<br/><br/>Mini pudi masala is my favorite!!! And idly too!!😋<br/><br/>Don't miss chikanna tiffen room when you had been to Sheshadripuram!!!! 😍<br/><br/>#Mustvisit😋

Chikkanna Tiffin Room is a famous restaurant in Cubbonpet, that has been serving delicious dosas for around 50 years. This new outlet is located in Seshadripuram and is walk-able from Central/Mantri mall.<br/><br/>Ambiance:<br/>-Has a Darshini restaurant type feel to it.<br/>-Pretty spacious; A couple of tables are placed outside to stand and eat. No seating facility available.<br/><br/>Service:<br/>-Self service. Pay upfront and get the order in ~5 minutes.<br/><br/>Food:<br/>-Khaali dose: Served with green chutney and sagu. Not as fluffy as expected but went well with delicious chutney:)<br/>-Mini masala dose: Served with green chutney and red chutney. Absolutely loved this on my first visit; neither too crispy nor too soft, it was smothered with ghee and both the chutneys were like a cherry on top:) but tasted very average on my second visit. So, no consistency:(<br/>-Rice bath: A bad version of pulav. Stay away from this one.<br/><br/>Conclusion:<br/>-Stick to the popular dishes-> dose<br/>-Masala dose here costs Rs.90, which is a little expensive.<br/>-Overall, a decent place to have south Indian breakfast:)<br/><br/>Food: 3.5/5<br/>Service: 4/5<br/>Ambiance: 3.5/5<br/>QFM: 3/5<br/>Overall: 3.5/5

The very first time I had Chikkanna masala dosa was when a friend at work had got it packed from here, although it was cold, there was something exciting about the Dosa. I wanted to eat more. So, I came to the outlet in Sheshadripuram. There are two options of masala dosa, one is the normal ghee masala dosa and the other is the mini masala dosa. I opted for the mini because I wanted to try other dishes too. The dosa is made with a lot of ghee and fried on the pan with a high flame so the dosa is brown turning towards red. It is one of the crispiest dosa in Bangalore. It is definitely in the top 5 masala dosas in Bangalore. You should also try the 'Ghee khali' dosa here that comes with dosa, saagu and ghee on top of it. Khali dosa is softer than the masala. Usually khali dosa comes in a pair but you can ask for a single if you can't eat 2.

Hunger saver... One should visit this place to eat khaali dosey and tuppa (ghee) dosey.. Wow it is 😍 and chutney will be awesome<br/>I've to try baath masala once...
@veg_maatra
Original food joint situated in Cubbonpet, they have opened a branch in sheshadripuram. The type of service is self service. The space is very well maintained and with small space, they have managed to fit in everything so compactly. Now coming to the food part, dose were slightly brownish with texture and soft unlike other dose where is it crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chutney was very good as they served two of them -spicy one and tangy one. The best dish was Idli which was as soft as mallige huva( kannada metaphor to describe the softness of Idli). I was actually looking for forward for the Vade but unfortunately it was prepared and kept, making it cold. Those of you who like peanut can opt for pudi dose as the pudi had flavour of peanuts also.<br/>All this was normal vegetable oil dose and there was slightly more oil than required, but nevertheless adjustable.<br/>To put in a nutshell, it was a good experience and a must try atleast once, in Sheshadripuram, if not cubbonpet to taste how the traditional idli and dose used to be like.

Bengaluru known for its legendary outlets serving people with delicacies ,"chikkanna tiffin room" is one among them. Have been to the outlet situated at cubbonpete many times. Now tried their reknown "DOSAS" at seshadripuram. No need any review for it . Only concern is that , hope the Consistency will remain forever ..<br/>Recommended dishes -- Mini Plane dosa.<br/>Tuppa Kaali dosa.<br/>Bathmasala .<br/>
Sahana Bangli
One of those old school eatery still reviving the tiffin culture from 50+ years in Bluru by serving only breakfast items all day.<br/><br/>The first outlet is in Cubbonpet. While this is the second outlet of Chikkanna started in recent years. Its on Google maps so easy to locate. There is no seating and it might be packed during peak times.<br/>But yes its worth all this when you get your plate of Dose - its just ecstasy!<br/><br/>They have Idli, Vada, Rice bath & Dosa on menu.<br/>So you ask what's special?<br/>Mini Masala Dosa - Its a smaller version of the Masala Dosa - perfect for one. Its golden brown and crispy, made with love (ghee) and served with aloo curry, chutney.<br/>Green chutney spread over Dosa gives a distinct taste to it.<br/><br/>Bath Masala Dosa -<br/>Sounds weird? But just go for it! Its their own invention of Rice bath topped on Masala Dosa. I tried this for the first time and I was amazed by the exceptional taste it had to offer. We went on for extra serves!<br/>Rice bath is very tasty and got the spices right!<br/><br/>Khali Dosa -<br/>If you like your Dosa to be super soft, fluffy then try this. It just melts in mouth. Never had a better Khali Dosa till now!<br/>P.S : Ask for extra ghee to enhance the taste!<br/><br/>I also tried Mini Pudi Masala Dosa - not that enticing for me though.<br/>One of my friend who doesn't like ghee also started belting Dosas here! Their Dosas are so addictive.<br/><br/>Such hearty breakfast had to end with a cup of hot coffee!<br/>The service is quite quick in spite of the huge crowd. The bath gets over by 11 on weekends.<br/>Their Dosas have my heart and can't wait to indluge in their ghee soaked dosas again!
Srini Rama
Went with high expectations and was fully satisfied. The benne dosa was a real delight. But the vada was not that good. Maybe my expectations were too high. But the cream was the cost. 68₹ for the masala dosa and vada with the unlimited chutney was tops. Thanks <br/>

1. Bath Masala – INR 65/-<br/><br/>Bath Masala caught my eye and I was sure to try this at any cost. It’s actually a Masala Dosai that has rice in it. The rice was veg biryani kinda and the dish is for people who want both tiffin and rice. That’s is they can do both (:P). This completely blows your tummy and I am sure you cannot take another one. This is such a gem though it looks awkward-ish from the outside. You can eat both the dosai and the rice simultaneously or you can eat it one after the other. Sambhar is not provided and the Chutney goes well with this. Highly recommended.<br/><br/>2. Coffee – INR 10/-<br/><br/>Can you get high of marijuana for 10 bucks ? Yes you can. The high that coffee lovers get after the sip is something that cannot be put into words. Right quantity for this price and the taste made this the complete finisher to the day.<br/><br/>The items available are listed in the picture. Do try out when you find time. I shall share the location at the end. The bill came to INR 75/- and GST was included in the cost and not charged extra. Kudos for this too!<br/><br/>Follow me on Insta here - @epomesoruthan

Yummy dosa I liked the bath masala dosa very much. Lip smacking. Tried Kaali dosa , masala dosa but my vote goes for bath masala..<br/>Had travelled 15kms for this.<br/>Competitively priced.<br/>Usually crowdy on Sunday but do go for cubbonpet . Heard that is better than this..<br/>Happy dosa .

Had heard alot about their food so I was excited when I gotta know they've opened a branch in seshadripuram. So went and got myself rice bath it was so yummy,I really liked it.I liked their masala dosa as well it was yummy but less in quantity. After that I felt very adventurous and got myself bath masale it's basically masala dosa with rice inside it, the fact that rice was inside it turned me off.... Didn't know how to eat and made a mess and taste was done nothing great. Prices are pretty high for the quantity

The mini boss of Sagu masale in Bengaluru is right here in Sheshadripuram! Situated in the calm residential areas, it is just a few hundred metres away from the legendary Lakshmi juice Center. <br/><br/>I have tried the masala dosa and the sagu masale. Whilst the masale dose is good, sagu masale is delicious. Richly smeared with molten butter, the taste is excellent. Its a must try for anyone visiting here. The only con is that the dishes are on the pricey side. Around Rs. 50 for a mini masale is expensive

Had been hearing of this plate for quite a long time in #Bengalurulocalfoodies group and decided to try out.<br/><br/>The place is easy to locate just behind Sheshadripuram college and strongly recommended to go before 9 AM as the college crowd starts pouring IN after this time.<br/><br/>A simple NO NONSENSE PLACE which serves just IDLI,DOSAS AND RICE BATH WITH COFFEE/TEA.<br/><br/>Me with my wife ordered -<br/><br/>1.KALI DOSA with extra Ghee- The Dosa is fluffy, tasty and a absolute joy to eat with the Saagu and Chutney.<br/><br/>2.MINI MASALA DOSA- the Dosa can easily be described as ONE OF THE BEST have so far tasted.Roasted to perfection,Crispy, dripping with Ghee, loaded with potato inside... HEAVEN ON EARTH.There were 2 types of Chutney provided which went well with the Dosa.<br/><br/>3.BATH MASALA DOSA- here the Dosa is roasted to perfection with abundant Ghee, chutney spread on Dosa and Pulav is kept on the Dosa with a helping of mashed potatoes. The dish with chutney is simply put PERFECT.<br/><br/>4.COFFEE/TEA-both watery and has to be improved. The only dampener.<br/><br/>The breakfast is served on eco friendly disposable dried arecanut leaf pressed into a plate.<br/><br/>The orders just come out flying with a TAT of around 3-5 minutes.Wonderful.<br/><br/>Cash only accepted.<br/><br/>Parking-a challenge.<br/><br/>Breakfast for 2 costs around Rs 150/-.Value for money.<br/><br/>If in the area would absolutely go back for more.<br/>

Dose was amazing. One of the best I had. Vade was very bad. It was cold and soggy not even little crispy. But dose was amazing fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside perfect masala dose. Khali dose was really good too. Idly was soft and fluffy tasty.Worth trying.

Visited this small outlet on a Saturday morning. Its a newly built place which was kept clean. The food is served on Bamboo Plates which i felt that is more hygenic than most of the darshinis. Tried the Khali Dosa and Full Masala Dosa. Khali Dosa was really soft and Spongy. Masala Dosa was Crispy and really tasty. The coconut tasty was lot better than most of the renowned places in Bangalore. I would recommend this place to all the dosa lovers

Chikkanna tiffin room opened a new branch near to Sheshadripuram composite collage.<br/>It was a great experience visiting one of the legendary restaurants in Bangalore<br/>I ordered mini masala dosa , set dosa , idly and pulav.<br/>The taste is awesome, the flavours are quite unique.<br/>A small menu, you could try all in one visit.<br/>Ambience : 4/5<br/>Service : 4/5<br/>Taste : 4/5 <br/>Food for 2 it may come up to ₹150-200

3.5/5<br/><br/>Located away from the main road - this is the second branch of the main outlet in Chickpet.<br/><br/>The USP is apparently the Kali Dosa and the masala Dosa - both were pretty good. The Kali Dosa was spongy and went down like butter. The ghee on top of the masala Dosa and Idly definitely added to the appeal. But the Idly itself was just baout okay-ish.<br/><br/>A one time visit unless you live closeby.

I love the fact that they have replaced the otherwise usual Sambar with Sagu for most of their dishes. <br/>The vada was crisp outside and moist inside, also the Kali dosa was bang on. Never ate such soft dosas anywhere else.<br/>Legendary? Hell Yeah!

Bangalore has no dearth of Darshinis, but over years some of them have created a niche for themselves, an unique identity which makes you want to go there, which you get only in that place. Chikkana Tiffin Room is one such place.<br/>The Kali dosa is a must try here. the fluffy n spongy dosa melts in your mouth.<br/>Other items here are good as well, masala dosa is tasty with generous amount of ghee, it's aromatic, crispy n has a smooth palya in between.<br/><br/>Legendary Rank #6<br/><br/>Taste: 8<br/>Value for Money: 8( except for masala dosa, which I felt was expensive)<br/>Ambience: 7 ( though a self service, it's located in a calm location. You can even chat over a cup of coffee, without too much noice)<br/>Service: 7(Food delivery is prompt n they do take into consideration your preference, which is a good thing, so u can tell them how u want the dosa, less oil etc)<br/>hygiene: 8 (pretty hygienic, they give the food in disposable biodegradable plates which is a plus, and the place also is maintained well)

Had heard about this place, never tried though☹️ Came for breakfast today as my friend insisted.<br/><br/>Loved the idlis here, both the chutney and saagu tasted delicious. Ask for extra ghee on your idlis and you’ll crave for more. 😋<br/>(don't look at him pouring the ghee though)😂<br/><br/>You get a full masala dosa priced at 85rs and smaller one at 45rs. Well the smaller one itself is as the normal big dosa.<br/>Dosa too tasted good but it's soaked in oil.🤨<br/><br/><br/>Ambience - 3.0<br/>Food - 4.0<br/>Cost - 4.5<br/>Self service

Masala Dosa @ Chikkanna Tiffin Room Kumara Park West , so worth it ! Despite battling with constant rerouting with Google maps, the ghastly Shivananda Flyover & major spousal chauffeuring irritation . No Sambar, but delightfully flavourful, crisp, slightly sticky dosas , smooth aloo palya with two fresh chutneys. Terrific thin coffee in tiny glasses @₹10. Roadside eating, tough parking, but very clean. Vijay Mysore, what a recco, but we missed you , & Chikanna Dose ran out of your favourite Idli vada anyway . Masala Dosa is dear at ₹85 , Mini Masala Dosa is ₹45 , & just 5 items on the menu , with no sweets . A small place in the middle of a busy street off Sheshadripuram. Idly with ghee is a must try. Sagu is good.<br/>Mini Masala Dose was too oily. Place is open from morning 7.30 - 12.30pm and 4.30 - 10.00pm in the evening .

Have been here on a Sunday after a tiring morning in field. The store is open till 12pm which is the best part for us. Place is located to a perpendicular road to sheshadripuram composite College. Plenty of space for parking around the store.<br/>I ordered for bath mini masala dose, mini masala dose and idly-vade.<br/>Piping hot idly with crispy vade served with chutney and potato sagu topped with ghee (optional and recommended) was amazing.<br/>Next came the bath masala dose. It's usually dose topped with potato sagu and vegetable pulav but as pulav was over, I got lemon rice on top with a little ghee. This is unique and delicious.<br/>Now the iconic masala dose. This is definitely a mouth watering, amazing dose of Bengaluru. A must try for every dose lover. Just wowww<br/>Ambience - darshini types, no seating<br/>Service - 4/5<br/>Taste - 4/5<br/><br/>

I found the dosas average. There was too much of ghee. Felt like the Dosa was submerged in Ghee. When pressed the ghee just came out like water when you rinse the clothes. <br/>Both the masala and plain dosas. <br/>Will think twice before eating there. <br/><br/>I have had better Dosa At a cheaper price in CTR, Janardan, etc. <br/>

The original outlet serves you the real authentic style.<br/>This outlet is more Commercial and the food is not as great as it is in its original place<br/><br/>The food is quiet overly priced.<br/>It is overly hyped.<br/> <br/>Overall 2.5 / 5 <br/><br/>
Danishi Bhagat
All points for the flavours loaded with ghee!<br/>The dosas, wada and rice bath all served with chutney isn't a miss at all.<br/>A very consize menu. You could try it all in one visit alone.<br/>Good luck!

Very Authentic. <br/><br/>This place is great for a quick tasty snack. <br/><br/>Great Dosa and palav <br/><br/>Definitely worth visiting. <br/><br/>You'll be back for more.<br/><br/>and enjoy with the taste of indian dosas

Extremely disappointed with their dosas after hearing so much about it. These were one of the oiliest (oil and not ghee:|) dosas I have ever had. And the dosas weren’t even roasted well, felt a bit sticky. <br/>However, loved the soft idli you get here and the chutney is really good. Visit this outlet only for the idli. <br/>Ambience / Service: like any other dosa joint

Awesome khali dosa, for a fine Sunday morning.<br/>Worth the wait. Very very small place. Finally my friend could not get the second serving of mini masala dosa.

Giving the feel of a typical darshini , Chikkanna Tiffin Room is a decent dosa place in sheshadripuram. <br/>Their food is nice , but when it comes to pricing I'd say their main competitors such as Sanman and Amma's Brahmin Café beat it hands down. <br/>Chikkanna is quite expensive for what it serves. Besides the staff is a bit rude . <br/>Coffee was extremely milky and I wouldn't recommend it. <br/>On the whole this place is a decent one to grab a quick bite ; no where near to its cubbonpet branch!<br/><br/>Food - 3.5/5<br/>Service - 3/5<br/>Value for money - 3/5

Ever since the Chikkanna Tiffin Room opened in Sheshadripuram, it was raving on Social Media. Today, I happened to visit for breakfast to know the hype about. First look of the place gives a feel of Another Darshini 😀<br/>We started with Palav or Rice Bath, it's precisely Masala rice made out of Onions, Tomato and some spices. Though it was served hot, rice wasn't soft and bland. Coming to Mini Masale Dose, it's very good with golden brown texture. However, issue with high time consistency though the place wasn't crowded. When it comes to their Signature Khali Dose, it's major disappointment. The Khali Dose wasn't roasted properly on both sides. The Bombay Saagu and Chutney were very low on Spice level, which is another let down! Overall, I will definitely not do a planned visit to Chikkanna Tiffin Room, Sheshadripuram.<br/>Advantage of Chikkanna Sheshadripuram - Parking, Palm Plates and Enough Place to Stand. When it comes to their original place in Cubbonpet, food is best except above 3 things.

Referred by my friend who lives close to this place, my food exploration for today started with a breakfast here. May be i had high expectations about the food coz of the ratings given earlier by others and my friend who had been to the place.<br/><br/>We tried their famous Kali dosa, which wasnt bad though. However, we also tried Vada- which want tasting fresh and Mini masala dosa, which was the best among the lot.<br/><br/>Filter Coffee was indeed disappointing as it was very milky and we just let go of it just in few sips.<br/><br/>The one thing i liked is their packaging of dosa as mini and full, which just varies in size and price. You can obviously pick based on ur pocket and hunger

Chikkanna is the 2nd branch of the legendary Chikkana Tiffin Room restaurant near the City Market area. A restaurant that is very popular for serving some of the most delicious South Indian breakfast items. It has been around since 1965 but as far as I know it has gained popularity since past 1-2 years. I think the reason for that is quite simply coz people have started loving & admiring the olden style of preparations. They seem to find a unique flavour in them which is not easy to find elsewhere. I have heard quite a few stories and seen videos of the original outlet. But I have not been able to go there. Recently I visited the new branch of the same restaurant at Seshadripuram.<br/><br/>Ambiance<br/><br/>It’s a very simple stand-in restaurant/darshini which can accommodate probably 15-20, or may be 25 at max. But the place has been kept clean. It has been here only a month and there is quite a bit of buzz about this place. <br/><br/>Food<br/><br/>South Indian breakfast items are something that everyone loves and feel contented after eating. It is usually rich in carbohydrates which can also give instant energy. <br/><br/>The food here is served on a plate is made of dried palm leaves which are disposed after finishing the individual meal. The best part is that it is bio-degradable.<br/><br/>Idli – The idli here is quite different compared to other places. The idli rava used seems to be of smaller size. It seemed to be like the traditional upma made with sooji rava. Idli is served with chutney and aloo subzi. And if you are a lover of ghee, you can ask for a pouring which will cost only INR 15. But then the person puts a full portion of ghee on top of the idli. This enhances the taste like anything.<br/><br/>Vada – I had not initially planned on taking but then felt like it suddenly. The taste was pretty good, not that I got a very impressed. It was pretty decent in term so of taste, but I missed the crispiness.<br/><br/>Masala Doa – The special dosa is loaded with ghee. Instead of putting the oil, they add ghee while the dosa is being made on the tawa. The moment you take a piece of the dosa, you can feel the ghee oozing out. This dosa is served with chutney and it tasted awesome.<br/><br/>Khali Dosa – This is the most famous dish at this restaurant. Khali Dosa is a popular dish to be had by someone who is hungry but does not want to eat too much of subzi. They serve 2 dosass along with chutney and very little aloo/potato subji/curry. Ideally you should add a portion of ghee to enhance the flavour. <br/><br/>Coffee – At the end of a heavy meal, coffee helps you to feel better. Otherwise the food consumed might seem a little too heavy. I asked for the person across the counter to make a strong coffee and he made it exactly the way I wanted. I enjoyed it quite a bit.<br/><br/>Overall Experience<br/><br/>It was a great experience visiting one of the legendary restaurants in Bangalore. Every dish that I consumed tasted good. The flavours are quite unique to the restaurant and it’s hard to replicate. Loved the idea of adding extra ghee which enhances the flavours. The staff are also quite courteous here. There is plenty of parking in and around the Darshini, so it shouldn’t be a problem to keep vehicles. I rate my overall experience at 4.0/5.<br/><br/>Rating in other departments.<br/><br/>Food – 4.0/5<br/><br/>Service – 4.0/5<br/><br/>Ambiance – 3.5/5<br/><br/>Drinks – 4.0/5<br/><br/>Food for 2 at the restaurant will come up INR 150-250.
