Review Pooja Dosa Camp - Bengaluru

Nitin soni
If you are looking for spicy sambhar and super tamilnadu style idli then you should visit this place. I have been visiting this place from last 7 years and you wont believe the taste is always the same and it's always delicious. I tried idly, vada, dosa of almost all variants like plain, masala, millet (ragi), upma dosa and none of them disappointed me. Morning time it's full of rush and you wanted to parcel then you should probably have a proper container otherwise you won't get a decent portion of sambhar or chutney. Be careful the ful sambhar is spicy and even chutney, so eat it with care :)

It's a small eatery in banaswadi for breakfast. They have limited menu options though they offer excellent value for money. The taste is above average and it's a self service outlet. Cleanliness could be approved and it would have been better if they didn't mix both chutneys and sambar together while serving.
Ravi
Food quality is good, chutneys are very tasty and sambar is authentic tamil nadu style
Sourabh Jain
Excellent food… Tamil preparation sambhar style. Can’t expect anything more on food portion, price, taste and quality. We are frequent visitor here.

Amazing Idle, dosa, Pongal and vada. Always fresh and tasty. Their Sambar and chutney are unbeatable. Please carry own container for their unlimited Sambar and chutney. Sept 2022 - unbeatable Pongal and vada combination. Taste and quantity is perfect. Ample space for 2 wheeler and 4 wheeler parking.

Dosas are very tasty and authentic, this place has good footfall and everyone in the neighbourhood flock to this place, lot of people carry tiffin boxes from home to take away Idlis and Vadas. I stumbled upon this place once and now have been a regular visitor ! Try their Ghee Podi Dosa , if you like Parota visit in the evening.

Pooja Dosa Camp! What a gem in Banaswadi.. Beautiful Dosas and Idlys, I am impressed with this place! This is the place I want to go back in that area. Sambar is the king here. Starting with Pudi Masala Dosa, dosa was thin, like our houses with the addition of urad dal in the batter. This thin dosa is sprinkled with peanut pudi, a spicy potato masala and served with two kinds of chutneys and Sambar. This sambar is flavourful and fantastic, it's one of the best sambars I can tell you, the spices are perfectly balanced with a curry leaf tempering. Onion Uthappam is again roasted according to how we say, onions are beautifully caramelized on the thick dosa. Roasted perfectly, coconut and tomato chutney is a perfect combination Idlys are soft and beautiful! Soft Idlys with the sambar is such a bliss, vade for the crunch is perfect.

Having read some good reviews, got on a 12 km drive to this place for a takeaway on a weekend morning. Reached around 8 and it was starting to get busy, lot of people opting for takeaways as there is no seating and there are a few tables to stand and eat. Makes it easier when one gets your own containers like I did and also avoid parcel charges. Service is quick and excellent and food was on a roll piping hot with guests getting fresh on the plate. Tried idly, Vada, Pongal, onion oothapam and plain dosa. All good consistency and high on taste. It's primarily Tamilnadu style place and reflects in the sambar which with my history of being born in Tamilnadu is something that I definitely relish. Very gentle staff and showing respect to every customer. Good place!

The place is located on the main road beside patanjali shop. If you are in and around banaswadi, kalyanagar, horamavu then this is place you should not miss. Mouth watering dosa, crispy vada and Pongal are best dishes I prefer here. It's small place with sellf service facility. Taste of the food gives justice to the price. October 2021: I visited this place again. No more authentic taste.
Keerthi R
Food is good and with reasonable price and if anyone want to taste sambar with sweet please try here. Only thing is no place to sit, we need to stand and eat.
Varna Prakash
A small place serving good Tamil Nadu style breakfast.
The vada is super crispy and the idlis are super soft, goes superb with their sambar and chutney.
Meby Mariam Mathew
My Saturday breakfast place.Simple menu but a good start to weekend. There vada is my favourite. The sambhar and 2 varieties of chutney are spicy and more of a tamilian style. It's very crowded during morning hours.
Abhi Shah
Discovered this place accidentally while roaming in Banaswadi. Went on a Saturday morning. The food is fantastic. The preparation wasn't very oily or spicy,, can relate to how everyone prepares at home, with good ingredients. The chutneys are also very good. Recommended.
KiranKumar
Pongal was very nice

Visited this place for breakfast . This is a small place and was crowded. Had to wait in queue to get the token. We ordered ghee masala dosa , podi masala and vada. It was hard to find a place. Had to wait for some time. Coming to the taste I would say it was just ok, not worth the hype. Salt was less for the vada. Sambar and 2 type of chutney was provided .
Overal I would rate it 3/5
Prakhar Agrawal
This is one the finest outlets for having south indian food. I love idli, podi dosa and onion uthapam from here. There chutney and sambhar are also very tasty. I wish they will start delivering food through zomato/swiggy.
Pooja Verneker
This place is lovely you will be surprised when u visit this place to see how it will be jam packed in the morning or evening for their lip smacking dosa's thats crispy and tasty

They follow Tamil style for making there dosa so dont be stunned to see no aloo palya in your masala dosa and still you will be happy with the taste when compared to other normal dosa place for breakfast or a evening snack
Awesome place to have pure south indian food, Quite rush around lunch breakfast and dinner time. Rate is pocket friendly. They charge extra for packaging and box that they give sambhar chutney etc. Chutney and sambhar was thick and delicious. Unlimited amount of sambhar chutney in a big steel jar was placed customer can go and take no worry to ask or wait. Fully self service. Can't took food picture so much rush was there. However i manage to take few crowdy photo's 😁
Ammu
Great place..in fact I have visited the Kasturi Nagar branch, not the Banaswadi one..the best upma is served there..the crispy vada..the thick chutney which they give for parcel is awesome..everything is tasty..clean and economic..staff is friendly..have tried idli, Pongal, dosa, upma etc..and upma being my favourite..

Amrut Parvatikar
Good food. Lot of rush on weekends. No seating. Dosas vadas and idlis are tasty.
1 minus point is they dont have small katoris for sambhar or chutney. We have to get it served in the plate itself.
Otherwise its worth for money. Do try it
A N
WEnt here based on some recommendation. Its super crowded . Food is worse than normal. No bowls or spoons or chutney. price ok , ambience nothing to write about. Food got to be better.
Divvya Mishra
Idli , dosa are tasty . Sambar and chutney taste is awesome, best place for South Indian food
Great and clean ambience. Staff is helpful . You will relish the food
RK - Raghavendran
A great place to have your Breakfast and Dinner, if your a typical South Indian food lover. Idlis at this place are the best. Except for one point that they add lot of water to chutney and sambar, its really Tasty, Homely and Healthy!
Nairkirti01
If you are a Tamilian or Keralite missing good sambar while being in Bangalore, this is the place to go..for you won't find that kind of preparation anywhere. The food is very good n prices are reasonable.
Dushyan Ponnanna
One of the economical restaurants in the area serving some crispy dosas and vadas. Ghee podi dosa is the best to try out here. The kind of plates they have chosen to serve food on is a bit inconvenient though.
Anuja Surve
The tastiest and probably the cheapest breakfast option. Definitely the best idlis I have eaten. Rest of the food is good too. The place is hygienic and service is prompt.
Srikanth Srinivasan
The best place to get idlis, dosa, vada & the likes in Bangalore. The chutney and sambar taste exactly as they should. And the prices, they are simply unbeatable. Its not a fancy restaurant, and its out of the way for most, but the food is simply awesome.

I absolutely, will not recommend this hotel to anyone

I went to Pooja dosa camp on 14 Oct 2018 @ 8:30am. Like me many people was standing in the line nearly 25people, on that half of them was only sr citizen, kids, few of us like for getting the food parcel.

People are standing already for 30mins to get the bill and to take the token for get their food.

Most interesting sad part is no one is there to take the order and bill to give the token.

He stopped and got out from the seat without telling what the reasons is.

How can this hotel people make people to wait for food and when you take money from them?

Your Customers is not beggars and they are not begging for their food,

Customers pay for their food and take the food. Stop treating them as beggars.

when i asked the guy inside in the delivery front. he said, the owner - can’t able to manage the crowd, so he stopped the billing. Making customers to wait for 30mins.

THIS POOJA DOSA CAMP FOOD PACKING guy behaved very rudely to a sr citizen couple, he still must teach a lot about service management. he doesn’t know how to behave with the customers and how to provide good services to them. I was very disappointed regarding such service which I got by the Hotel .

Waste service, I absolutely will not recommend this hotel to anyone

The Pooja dosa camp not friendly environment for sr citizens and for family eating out. Pls avoid this place.

(I got the bill @ 9:30 AM after I question them for their service, got no answer from them.

4 idlily, 1 masala dosa, 2 vada, 1 pongal parcel

But Yes, after bill and I gave my bill to the parcel guy, this parcel guy do gave me 5 star service 😉 . he packed the food and thrown on the table. I told them, once the money you seen, you are started forgetting to respect the customer and value them)
Praveen S
when the dosa shop is started it was good.. But now these people are very money minded. Service is not there. 3rd grade service.

when the money start flowing , thats were the hotel people real devil face shows.

These people have audacity to make people stand in Q for bill. and they stop billing.. so that people will wait for 20min average for bill and take the bill to get the food.

I have wasted 30mins nearly for bill. No communication for these people. standing like a fool and wasted my time there to get the bill..
this pooja dosa camp people dont value peoples time.

I request people dont waste time on the hotel, who dont even know the value of peoples /customers time.

Dont encourage such hotels on the zomato.
Vignesh Maadhu
I had my breakfast with my friend. Nothing special in this restaurant usual dosa but special in this restaurant was price. Rated price was very nominal. Always crowded should reach within 10 a.m for breakfast fast
Sunitha Suresh
I’m a sucker for Simple South Indian breakfast and this place does it so well. Vadas are crisp, idlis are like soft pillows and the sambhar and two chutneys are flavourful and wholesome. Bring tiffin boxes to take the chutney and sambhar home as they don’t pack it. However I recommend eating it here itself piping hot.
Shyam Sugavanam
Awesome Tamil Nadu food. Idli, vada, ghee onion podi, onion uthappam was very nice. Sambar and chatni tasting good.

Only thing is self service. Each time we need to order and search for place to stand and eat.
Lenin Kumar
Always best option. Taste is good. Staff are polite. Upma and Pongal with sambar is very Nice. I some how not fond of their Rosa and Idli. Vada is superb.
Ritu Jain
Simple, amazing food. Super Eco friendly. Add ons are self served.Basically, Good food-No bakwaas. One of the best dosa centres tried in Bangalore yet.
Tara
Best freaking breakfast in the whole of Bangalore !
Crunchiest vadas! Soft idlis! Delicious dosas! Just amazing !
Must try for breakfast !
They have timings though, watch out for those!
Rahul Goel
I visited this place for breakfast few times. It is small place but fully crowded from morning itself. They serve south Indian breakfast items like dosa, idli, khara bath, vada etc.

The item I like the most is idli. They prepare it really good. Ghee masala dosa is the second thing which I like the most. Khara Bath is average in taste. Their vada is not that good.

Overall good place for good breakfast.
Jude Jacob
One could go here to savour the crispy Dosas, soft Idlis, hot Vadas. The best is the tamilian style sambar that is served. It's a stand and dine place. Worth the price !
Amit Dev
Small authentic Tamil Nadu style breakfast joint. Self service with vessels kept for 2 chutneys and piping hot sambhar. Their sambhar is brilliant. Loved the podi dosa too. Nice no frills place for a quick tasty breakfast or evening snack
John Thomas
Saturday breakfast at Pooja Dosa camp is a ritual
... If someone wants to learn consistency this is the place to learn.. Same taste, same smell, the same crazy rush.. not eaten anything from there except idli vada.. Why else would one need to try anything else .. Coconut chutney.. The tomato chutney and the homely sambar.. All a match made in heaven... Definetly worth a visit
Anju Yadav
This is an amazing place. Almost every weekend I land up here. Soft idli and vada are my favourites. Small shop with a very authentic taste. You can take unlimited sambhar or chutney yourself. The only request I want to ask the shop owners is, a small container or use of compartment plates so that sambhar can be taken separately when you order dosa.
Uday Sivagurunathan
The best place to enjoy authentic Tamil style tiffin near Kammanahalli. They really make good Idly vada and podi dosa and the pongal is also delicious. You can thoroughly witness the quality of the food and the pocket friendly nature over there. They have one more branch in Kasthuri Nagar.
What's In Your Menu.?!
We have been visiting place this place from long time, but still the taste hasn’t changed. The only thing changed is the Price.

You don’t get seating here. Its Self service and esp on Sunday this place is crowded. Suggest to visit early.

This is kinda typical South Indian - Tamil cuisine restaurant. You get Idli, Pongal, Upma and varieties of Dosas. My favourite one is Pudi Masala dosa 😋.

One best thing here is they keep Chutney & Sambar near the counter, which is more than enough with the best taste.!!!
Shibu Babu
Really good place to have South Indian breakfast. A bit expensive but it's worth paying for. Yummy sambar and chatni wshich goes very well with Dosage and idli.
Tom Jose Vadakkan
The best south Indian dosa you will get in Bangalore. Very nice people. They serve with love. So that makes the difference. Very nice surroundings. A lot of crowd with cravings.
Deepika
The non-foodie husband wished for some Tamil style dosas and I had to oblige !
Pooja's is a simple garage-turned-dosa place. At 8am, the place was crowded , establishing its popularity.
The dosas are typical Tamil style without being exceptional. The chutney and sambar were bland for my taste. I had great hopes of soft idlis but was disappointed. It was sour and so fat.
If this is your preference, Pooja may not disappoint you..
Shachi Agarwal
It's a local tamilian cuisine eatery. The food is good, and the variety is also acceptable.
Do not expect a good ambience here but the food is quite good.. This place could be visited for a quick breakfast for dosa and stuff.
Jaya Maity
Nothing much..normal dosa served..liked the pongal though! Rates are not very low though..lack the "ambience factor" the area is kinda dark..
Ramesh
Went here for a breakfast after seeing the reviews & rating.

But very disappointed with dosas with white color(not crisp with golden brown)

2 varieties of chutneys and sambar.

idly & vada was very smooth & soft, very tasty, i liked it.
Ani._jo
Food is amazing everything is neat and tidy. Fast service. Unlimited sambar and chutney 😁. And if you are coming for parcel just remember to bring ur container to take sambar ( environment friendly packing banana leaf 😇 ) just made like home.
Baskaran Kandasamy
Good place to have breakfast and dinner. Exact south Indian food. Must try vada, ghee dosa, ghee masala dosa. Feels like home food and it's tasty.
Rashi Modi
A dosa camp walkable from our place not much sitting capacity but the most yummy south Indian breakfast..do visit this place if you are around for ghee roast dosa..Idli etc
Jyoti Verma
Must try if u are looking for authentic south indian food. unlimited sambhar and chutney. Usually i dont like sambhar served in most of the hotels as it is sweet in taste and looks artificial with red colour. But here u can enjoy Home made tamil style sambhar with soft Idli & vada at a very reasonable price. Only con is - no sitting place so takeaway is recommended if u are visiting with kids else you can go on eating at the place itself.
ArJun Prakash
This is a decent place for breakfast... Many people including myself wish that this eatery could serve food even in the afternoon... But I love all the variety of dosas that they serve... Parotta is an ultimate dish here... must try.... Pongal too... It has a very unique taste... Crunchy and tasty... Value for money... No place to sit and dine...
Take away recommended....
Can't stop ourselves with one dosa...
Podi Masala dosa is a must try...
Varieties of chutney...
One Great hotel in this area....
My happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast and nothing beats a typical South Indian one!
This place serves simple, speedy, delicious, healthy and reasonable price food.
I love the dosas, especially the ghee and podi masala dosa, very crisp and light and less oily! The chutneys and sambhar are too good to be true.
Best place to kickstart your day, feels just like home.
Akash Kn
This is unarguably one of the most amazing places to have authentic south Indian food. They do not have seating as the place is small and there is usually a long line for the cash counter that extends outside the eatery at times. You'd have to go very early for breakfast if you want to eat peacefully including second helpings, without having to wait in a long queue. The best time to go would be on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Dinner is also a good option. I usually eat idlis, vadas and dosas here and they taste great. What makes this place stand out from the rest is the home style sambar and chutneys which are finger licking good. In the evening, they even make a masala curry to go with chapathi and that too is delicious.

They also make oil-free dosas on request which is great for people who are health conscious. Even the regular dosa's here don't have oil dripping off them, and is quite tasty as well.
The food is also very reasonably priced, and if you are one of those people who love to enjoy piping hot food in the chilly air of Bengaluru, then this is the perfect place to do so.
Aiyappa Achappa
Best place to have economic south india break fast ..reasonable price and hygienic place .only problem Saturday and Sunday its crowded .old man in cashier counter shows lot of attitude .trick is you shout at him .he will serve u better .masala dosa is too good .best alternative to blood sucking adyar Anand bhavan
Pani
Tamil nadu is famous for its breakfast dishes and perhaps can arguably boast as the origin of idly, dosa and Pongal. This is a small canteen which serves this food and justifies why tamilians love their breakfast. Soft and piping hot idly, simple and yummy Pongal are a complete meal and ideal healthy breakfast. Two types of yummy Chutneys and sambar is placed in large containers for us to serve and help ourselves. It is evident that This canteen is run with the motto of feeding people and not making money. Extra serving are provided with a smile. The tables are kept clean and hygienic. Have never had any issues out of eating here regularly. High rating is not just for taste but the attitude here. Prices are among the cheapest in Bangalore.
Deepak
The best place in the area.its pocket friendly and their chutneys and sambar stands out.
They don't have a place to sit down and eat and for takeaways you have to bring your own containers
Srinivas Bellamkonda
Right when I was thinking that kalyan nagar has less number of good hotels, I found this place. Thank you zomato. Proper home style food. Pogal deserves special attention, light and tasty. Overall a worth visiting place.
Mohan N
Excellent idly, vada and dosa. The good thing is that the chutney and sambar are kept in the dining area for the customer to help themselves.
Dasmonish5
Am regular to this place. Vadas here my fav. Gud ppl better place. Would suggest everyone .. But parcel we need to carry own boxes or u can't tak any parcel . They could have charged 3rs for boxes n do the parcel would b better convient for customers. Apart frm tat others best.
Anindita
Excellent food and value for money. The dosas and parottas with the unlimited accompaniments of chutneys and curried gravies are a salve for the soul. The quick service and the fresh food at rockbottom prices ensure that there is barely space to stand during peak hours. A court stay order on the property has neither deterred the quality of service nor food.
Shreya Dholakia
Excellent dosa, sambhar and chutney. Ghee dosa are too delicious and service is very fast. Extremely high value for money. Must go if you like thin dosa with sambhar which is not sweet.
Nishant Kalsi
Whenever I feel like having a quick dinner I go there. There dosa is soft not crispy and there idli is not like typical Bangalore sagar restaurant's idli. Looks like the cooks are tamil. Anyway, everything they serve is good to have. It is meant to be a QSRand accordingly their service is good. They can improve on the taste of chatnis which are almost tasteless and thin, and their sambhar is like dal. But still I would say it is not a bad place to eat when you dont have time to sit and enjoy food.
Lokesh Amarnath
Excellent vadas, but the dosas were a little uncooked. The Sambar and the chutneys were really yummy. The eatery is small, but well-maintained.
Jeris
Small little place that serves authentic Tamil Nadu style tiffin items. Personally loved the yummy combo of dosa and sambar. The Vadas too are absolutely crispy and delicious. Items are very light on the pocket and only bad thing is that there is no place to sit!
Thanik Jaganath
Excellent south indian breakfast place. Tamilnadu style. Everything on the menu is made quite well. its not a place where you can sit and dine. its a stand, eat and scoot kind of place.
Arusha Mohanakrishnan
Real nice, value for money. the idly and vadai is brilliant here. what is lacking is the crispy dosa. Ghee roast is brilliant though. The other dosas have raw batter taste to it. Maybe my bad luck, but brilliant food otherwise and so not expensive.
Sasi Kumar
It is very good place for taking breakfast(idly, pongal & vada). I have taken many of my friends to here for try out and they literally liked it, they too continue having their breakfasts because of tasty foods. Pros: Tasty Idly, Vada, Pongal, Sambar, chutney. Quick service Reasonable price Good serviceCons: Masala for Dosa's can be better in taste. Not availablity of Refreshments(Tea/Coffee)
Jithu Kh
Good place for tiffin takeaway. Tried their dosa, masala dosa, iddly n vada so far. Good food in best price. Almost everyday I buy my dinner here. Tamil style dosa lovers can try this place.
Shreyas Sampath
Vadas are to die for here! It's a small place with true value for money and the varieties of chutney are really cool. At ten bucks a piece for a vada and idli, the best place for a quick snack between work and stuff.. Their dosas are average coz they are made really thin and that's not something I like personally. But thumbs up for sure.
Premkumar GT
The taste and the freshness of food is awesome. They serve chennai dosa, sambar and chutney. Little disorganised on the KOT system (ordering to deliver system process).

Podi dosa is a must try. The price is nominal and taste is home made. The service is great also

if you go there just for good home made chennai style food no disappointment.
Deepa
Good place for takeout breakfast for north indians. Good food and their chutneys are awesome...................................................................
VinodM
After seeing my friends review..i visited this place...dey serve dosas which are too gud..wid their 2-3 types of chutneys..People who love dosas should try dis..!
Telugu Food Lover
Yes, It's all sort of dosa varieties. Always liked their Masala Dosa. Have been eating in this place from 5 years. and taste is well maintained.

Pongal, Wada, Idly always have their demand here. Highly recommended if you like Tamil Nadu style dosa
Suresh Babu
Awesome Dosa's! If you want tasty chutney and sambar, Go for this place. You may miss to spot if you go by this road. This is at walkable distance from the fire station. As said by others, a must go location for tasty Dosa's and Sambar's.
Gourav Sachdeva
I don't know why I feel that it's just me here on Zomato but I found the Dosas at this place to be crappy and worthless (not literally, the prices are cheap too).

We were a group of 3 people who went there for a Sunday breakfast but none of us liked the dosa here. I had heard from my office colleagues before that it's a nice place for Dosas and the crowd there was decent too but nothing helped.

The Dosas weren't crisp, the masala wasn't good either and the chutneys and sambar was normal.
Ash
If your looking for not sweet sambar(not typical Karnataka sambar), cheap and tasty dosas, masala dosas, vadas and idlis, then this is the place to go to!!! Just off the banaswadi main road, clean and tidy too. Try out the ghee dosa too, pretty good !!!
Vinay
A simple veg joint which has good intentions to serve decent tamil food, particularly tiffin items like dosa (many many types), idly, vada and parota. They serve sambar (not the typical sweet kinds) and 2 types of chutneys. I normally go there for the dosa's and vada. Its a self service restaurant (including the chutneys/sambar :)) and dosa's are made right in front of you. Overall it is clean, service is quick, costs are more than reasonable and the chirpy folks manning the place seem to have an honest intent to serve good food!
Why a 4 rating? Add coffee and perhaps bottled water for sale and i'll give them 4.5!
Deepu Nagarajan
Really good choice for South Indian Veggies.
Dr. Varun Muddasani
I read a few interesting reviews and finally decided to try this place. I was a bit late for the breakfast and went around 11. I know way past breakfast time. The Dosa will simply blow your mind away. They serve a variety of dosas With 2 to 3 chutneys to complement the dosa and usual idli vada sambar... For the reasonable price it gives an absolute taste and jump starts your day. The dosas are light on tummy and not filled with soda as the usual restaurant's do. They Dont serve tea or coffee. However that's no way a - point. Try the ghee podi onion masala Dosa. And the senior person who runs the counter is very courteous and is so confident about but the dosas, he tells u to collect the change at the end of breakfast. And he didn't fail. I ended up belting a few more.
Anup Kulkarni
Delicious food can come from anywhere... and this place is excellent example of this.

There is nothing fancy about service, ambience blah blah. Its a simplistic darshani place with minimalistic menu. They have only couple of varieties of dosas, plain simple idaly, vada and thats all. Sometimes in breakfast they have pongal/khara bath, but it gets over very soon. But from this, you order anything you just cant stop with single serving. In fact when i went there for the first time, i ordered only one dosa and vada. When i started paying, the man on the counter smiled back at me and said "pay later when you are done eating". And yes, i ordered much more after that. Thats the confidence.

You can help yourself with 3 varieties of chutneys and steamy sambar with your idaly/vada/dosa/pongal. And the accompaniments are amazing as well.

Dont miss their Ghee Rost Podi Dosa. I have visited this place countless times and each time i have ordered this at least once. Its rocking!
Niranjan Bhat
Andrea style dosas.
Nice change if u keep having breakfast at Darshinis.
Note that you won't get tea or coffee here.
