Review Mr. Idli - Bengaluru

Sadham Hassan
Offers nice vegetarian South Indian food items like Idli, Dosa. It is bit costly as expected since it is inside the Gopalan mall. It has nice ambience and suited for family dinner. As I said earlier it is little costly. Had idli and coffee. It was really good. Liked the coffee most! Really nice place to spend some time inside the mall.

Guys if you love sambhar chutney Dosa idly. This is the place for it. I mean where can sambhar be more better than it's origin itself? It's a place where you get authentic awesome food right from the taste of tamilnadu. There's no better place on Earth than tamilnadu for it's South Indian food. You and I must be really lucky to get a chance of tasting it in our own place I mean who wants to travel from Bangalore for having just food. I really would buy I instead go to this place. It's so awesome with immense good service freshly made food and taste as finger licking food.

Standard staple south Indian restaurant. Tastes normal compared to other traditional Southern cuisine restaurants

Great place I had great time with family enjoyed the food

They serve excellent aloo paratha with pickles and dahi. If you request, they will give you a little chhole, which is also tasteful. Good filter coffee. Nice place to relax and enjoy a no-hurry meal.

Generally love having an evening snack there. Good food. Should try this place whenever you are in Gopalan Signature mall, old Madras road

Staff courtesy -1/5

Food - 1/5
1. The sambar was heavily diluted, it was almost like water
2. Ordered dosa and mini idli, it did not taste great either
3. They did not have any of their speciality idli (quite an irony considering that their variety lies in the speciality idli's)
4. The chutney was okayish, that's the only reason why I rate this place a one out of five

We use this place for a pit stop. Their mysore masala dosa, paneer dosa are our favourites. They do good filter coffee as well. Sometimes the wait for the food counter is long. Cashier never has change, take your cards!

Very very bad food. Not recommend this place to anyone. Food quality is sooooo bad. They put so much color and curry leaves in every thing they serve. A no no to this place.
Shri Hari
not worth for the money at all. coffee is the worst, very much watery couldn't even taste the milk. Kanchipuram masala dosa is very blank not enough salt in the batter used I think. not coming here again. As a south Indian would not recommend this place to anyone. I feel roadside shops are better than this.

It's awfully bad. It's a disgrace to north Indian food.
Kalank. Tasteless .is there a god who exists? Kahan se ate hain ye log..? Kaun hain ye log.. Jo chole bhaturey ko kalankit kar rahen hain.

Bhagwaaannn.. Hai kahan re tu???
Sujeeth Kumar
Horrible food. None of the staff is from South India and they have no clue of the cuisine.

Rude chef, none of the food is authentic,

Walk across gopalan mall for an authentic South Indian food @ Srinidhi Sagar.
I ordered Rava Idli, Vegetable Idli and Normal Idli. The taste of Vegetable Idli was nice with the Aloo Sabji and Sambhar, Chutney combo. Good place for fulfilling sudden hunger urges while roaming around in the mall.

The food is relatively nice but inexplicably expensive even after considering it is inside the gopalan grand mall. A masala dosa for example is priced at Rs 120 and one Rava idli is Rs 50!!

The food though is tastes nice and is prepared fresh after you place your order.

The maddur vada is crispy and tastier than the maddur vada you get in maddur! The rava idli is not even as good as my friend'smother makes them. The masala dosa is wholesome and filling. The filter coffee is as good as filter coffee gets.

The joint is on the second floor, relatively small and generally crowded on weekends. The staff is relatively well behaved.

Overall good food for exorbitant price.

Pizza Hut in Signature Mall provides prompt service and best quality pizzas. The staff is welk mannered and are very helpful. Nice ambiance. Soup was a big cold.
This restaurant is located in Gopalan Signature Mall. Planned to taste Idly Manchurian, but later turned it into dinner.

Ordered Idly Manchurian, Thatte Idly, Set dosa, chole bhature and a coffee. But chole bhature was not there so we changed it into paneer dosa.

They have decent list of items but irony is not every item is available.

We ordered Thatte Idly but they gave us normal idly. I insisted them that I need what I ordered. Their answer is both are of same prices so please eat normal idly. I asked them to refund it that I don't need normal idly. They need my name , mobile number and my signature on the back side of bill. I told them that I need he bill anyhow and am not writing my details on the bill for them. They quietly refunded me.

I ordered them for Idly Manchurian and they are insisting me to get Mushroom Manchurian instead. So they are deciding what customers should eat. You had to wait ages to get idly Manchurian. We are done with our dining and done with coffee too. But still waiting to get idly Manchurian.

Set dosa is not that soft. With price above 100 they need to maintain quality and taste, which is not there.

And paneer dosa. What a pity. Paneer dosa which I ate roadside on platform in 99 variety dosa shop is better than what they served here. it's waste of paying 140 rupees for this.

And finally coffee. 30 rupees for this. Thought it would be a premium quality filter coffee. But it's all normal. And the way they served it bad. Coffee is dripping from the walls of the glass. Horrible. Rs. 7 coffee in a tea stall would be better.

Totally Horrible experience for me here. Never want to visit it again in my life.

I rated it with one star as there is no option to rate it lesser.

Want to save time and money?? Better avoid the place.

Mr.Idly name boasts as very much south indian restaurant, you tend to expect good tiffins and good southindian food, instead it is not.. they need to improve a lot.. when you have good prices on the menu. then you need to maintain the quality and taste also
Kunal Sharma
I came to this place because I was in signature mall. We want to try some south Indian cuisine. We ordered filter coffee which was quite OK. But nimbu Pani was horrible in taste. Then we order one plate idli with one Mysore masala and Rava onion masala dosa. Mysore masala was same masala dosa with some threads of beetroot.. everything was flat on taste. Overall very bad experience n will never try again.
Subin Jacob
I went with my freind to have a snack the price is over the moon and the taste n food presentation is not value for money the ambiance is OK as it is in the food court of gopalan grand mall
Manoj Chandrasekharan
Surprised at the low ratings ... Though other items in menu are average but You get one of best Kanchipuram masala dosa here. Strongly recommend it
Abhiseka Mishra
Unnecessarily costly.. Landed up here bcoz there was no other option in gopalan..
Someone can get the same on the roadside or even better with 1/10th of the cost

I'm going to make this review short and sour like our experience at this outlet : mundane fare, overpriced and poor food service system. Staff are uninterested. Couldn't wait to leave. Ordinary is an overstatement.

If you are an ardent Idli fan, wouldn't mind recycling the leftover idly to Upma, not just a fan of authentic Idlis but also the modified versions of it, also don't care spending extra bucks for Idlis in the mall, then you wouldn't mind trying Mr. Idli.

So Mr. Idli is located amidst various food outlets in Gopalan Signature Mall. Its not a fancy setup, its a regular outlet in the food court with comfortable seating.

What I enjoyed eating here are:

- Button Idlis

- Mulagapudi Ghee Idli (so much ghee yum!)

- Idli Manchurian

- Lemon pepper Idli sizzler

- Idli 555

The Dosas or Uthappam are not worth a mention. The sambar served with Idlis don't taste as good as those served in Darshinis. But for a change, this Mr. Idli is worth one try.
AdiJ
Mr. Idli is not only just about varieties of idli. They have many other things which are pretty good. For eg. their Dosas are absolutely tasty. They can easily give A2B a run for their money. They are located on the second level of the Gopalan Signature mall. The cashier/owner (I guess so!!) is very polite. Service is quick.
If you are in Gopalan Mall, you can stop here for a quick bite of South Indian food. It also doesn't dig a hole in the pocket aa well.
Pramod
Average Overpriced Idlies are served and the service time is really bad. The staff are rude and half the menu items are not available even in peak times on weekend. Have eaten twice and am probably not visiting again.

Mr Idli furnishes a menu that is unique among most vegetarian restaurants with ample varieties of dishes. Boy! I couldn't make up my mind. The ambience and price is alright. Most of the dishes are at standard rates while a few are overpriced. The service is quick but and organised. The food is delicious. A shout out to Mr Idli! A must try. Overall, a filling and satisfactory dining experience.

Lack of choices at early hours landed us to this outlet. Must say name sounds good, the mascot is enticing and all the goodness ends right there.

We ordered button idlis with ghee sambar and let me tell you it was the worst sambar i have had in a long time. Idlis were good but the sambar was absolutely bland. It is outrightly, outrageously overpriced food that may leave you questioning your sense of discernment.

Now for the special surprise, amongst the lucrative menu we could find haryanvi butter milk which looked so odd with the other south indian items that unfortunately we decided to make another blunder of ordering it. I am bereft of words to describe such a disgraceful, disastrous drink.

They say a hearty breakfast can lighten up your day, and here we were pondering how to undo such a diabolical sin that we had indulged in.

Was such a mistake to visit this restaurant at the Gopalan Grand Mall. We ordered Masala Dosa, Chol Bhature, Uthapam and butter milk. Everything was so disappointing that we felt like puking after half the food. We just left the food half eaten.
Now their food -The food was tasteless, probably stale as well. Their service was fast as probably very few orders were received.
You should compare the footfall with Mast Kalandar which is always full even though it is North Indian.
The mall deserves a better south Indian restaurant.
Anto Prabhu
The worst hotel i ever went. No fresh idli. Service is very fast as nothing is freshly cooked. All preserved frozen and heat before served. Chutney was stale. I can't even compare with any roadside hotels

I decided to come here after some shopping! I saw the menu and ordered a Mysore Cheese Rocket Dosa! I wanted to give this a try! My word its delicious! It looked nice and was quite different from other regular dosas. The cheese was nicely spread and podi was good! I was very happy the quality of the Dosa. I'd love to come here again! This place will fill your stomach! Must try Mysore Rocket cheese Dosa!
Avi
Today we went there and ordered Kanchipuram Dosa (that was their special dish for the day (Saturday)) and Idli Manchurian. Idli Manchurian was good but not exactly happy with the dosa. It's really overpriced as with the price of 120+ , I feel it is really costly. In Bangalore you'd get better places which is having much better value for money. I don't like the taste of Sambar too, served with Dosa. Overall I could have given 3.5 but due to price I finally settled to mark 3 rating

This place surprises one with explosive food on one hand and some let downs also on the the other. Visited this place for a quick bite as well as for a meal - can't say I was disappointed. It has more pluses than negatives and with just a few tweaks can be a very good joint. Worth giving a try!

Went to this place as we were very hungry after some shopping @Gopalan signature mall.

Ordered a Mysore Rocket Cheese masala dosa. I was fascinated by this fancy name and decided to try it.

Appearance: looks very attractive and quite different from the regular masala dosas.
Taste: It was very tasty with cheese evenly spread on the dosa with yummy podi sprinkled on top.
The taste of cheese , podi, aaloo masala comes in waves and gives it a very yummy and different taste.

My verdict..... Must taste this .

I was a bit not so happy about the chutney and sambar, but the dosa taste made me ignore it.

Its okkkkkaaaayyy place but expensive... dosa batter wasnt tadty n sambar n chutney had kind of dour smell n tadty... not upto the level of pricing...

Located inside gopalan signature mall. Staff is nice. Self service. Have tried idli only. Not so pricy. And yes Idli manchurian is a must try.

Went to this place on a Sunday morning. Had Mini Idlies with sambar, Bombay special open dosa, Idly manchurian and coffee. Sambar was good. Open dosa is just an Uthappam (which is very very thick) with some podi, aloo sagu on it. Nothing special, and was not expecting that way. Idly manchurian was nothing like a manchurian. I think they ve added red colour fried it in a bit of oil and added spring onions, tomato sauce and onions. I was tasting the tomato sauce all over it. Bad... May be i was expecting too much for it. But all the above costed around 350 which i think is a bit highly priced. Coffee was good though!

Looking for South Indian food in a resto, you've got it here. All kinds of dosa and other things. Whenever we feel like South Indian from outside we come here. Food is fine here as it should be.

South Indian Food is the best way to stay healthy. However we were a bit sceptical about eating out. However coming to Gopalan Signature Mall and ordering food at Mr.Idli, we found ourselves enjoying the ambience and literally devouring the food. We ordered a lot of items, of which I loved the Onion Dosas as well as the rava idlis. I can conclude by saying that this is definitely the place, where it feels like a home away from home and you can enjoy the taste of delicious home made food.
Prasenjit Sardar
Mr. Idli is too costly for having Idli's. It's costs me around 100 rupees to fill my stomach with Idli's there, but outside at normal eatery it costs me only 40-50 rupees. It's not worth going there

I put up in Kasturi Nagar, and this is one of my closest hangout places. I have tried everything in the mall, apart from this. Finally, I went with my friends to the place. The food is OK, i liked Idli Machurian and Chilli Idli, apart from this Rava Dosa and Onion Uthapam were Okish. Its a nice place for light food. The cashier and the waiters are good people to talk to.

Amazing place for snacking. Love the Mini Idli and Uttapam options.
The chutneys are fresh and super tasty.

Worst idly available in Bangalore. Waste of money. Chutneys I guess they prepare in the morning & setve entire day. Cant cut the idly with a spoon so hard.

Worst service
Worst quality
Prices very high.

Avoid the place! They dont even know how to make coffee

I had seen Mr Idli during one of my previous visits to the mall, but had not tried it. Last weekend I happened to be at the mall and had to find some place for lunch. As I was alone, I wasn't looking forward to an elaborate meal or anything. Hence Mr Idli! It is an open seating area within the mall and the decor and seating is pretty basic. Although there were many items listed in the menu, I was informed that for lunch only Meals and Dosas were available. I would have preferred Bisi Bele Bath, but that wasn't available :(. I could see several kinds of Dosas, and some of them with interesting combos.. For example the Taco Noodle Dosa. Not one to take such big risks I settled for the American Corn Pudina Dosa. Cost me 110 bucks, and I was given a token. Service was quick; the fact the place wasn't fully crowded helped. The Dosa was basically made with green colored batter with american corn sprinkled inside, and served with red & white chutney and sambar. The Dosa was crisp and roast, just like the way I prefer. It green color did not make much of a difference to the taste. The corn tasted like it was just taken off the freezer! Apart from that everything else about the Dosa was good. It was quite filling. I had to go back for extra chutney and sambar given how less they served in the first place. Except for the cold corn, I was pretty happy with what I ate. Prices are little on the higher side, so I hope they become a little more generous with the Chutney-Sambar quantity :-)

Dosas are just okay. This joint doesn't taste like "south Indian".

Sambar tastes horrible.

Overpriced considering the taste and ambience.

Been there quite a few times as this is in the mall next door to where I live.

Self service joint, token system.
Open seating...
Crowded on weekends but otherwise pretty empty on week days.
What I've tried:
Salem Idli : Idlis are soft..heavy as they give 3 in a plate. don't like the sambar.
Vada : Not good at all.. Very dense batter.. Not fluffy and crunchy enough
Dosas : They have lots of varities. All fairly good. They are quite big and filling.
Specials : tried chilly idli was good. Idli manchurian was too sweet to my liking. Idli 65 not that great.
Rice items : They have different rice items on each say. Tried tomato rice was too oily. Tried business bele bath was ok.. Have had better.

Overall fairly cheap.

Overall just above average. A2B and Madurai idli shop are better options...

Mr Idly has a good variety of idly and dosa's, Food brings the taste of tamilnadu to the fore.Pongal and mini-idly would rate high in my opinion. Ambience is ok. Self service and once you order you are given a token number with the bill, once the food is ready, the token number displays on the screen with an announcement ,so you know when your food is due instead of fighting it out with fellow guests which usually is the case with self service restaurants.

Good place to have a snack after shopping around in the mall. A little overpriced compared to other south indian restaurants but for the variety they offer, definitely worth a visit

The first thing which strikes you is the ambience. The place is neat, and well kept. The interior is pleasing to the eye. When we ordered food, it took a while - but we didn't have to wait too much! The food we ordered was Masala dosas, and Rava dosa and idli/vadas - which tasted not so bad at all! There is something to the food which makes you want to come back to this place again! The staff is also friendly and willing guide you regarding the choice of food in case you are confused -thanks to the amazing variety of dosas in the menu . Over all, I can sum it up by saying - we want to come again! And again!!!

I happen to visit Gopalan mall after a hectic day at work visited Mr. Idli outlet it was a refreshing experience. The ambience was too good, dishes tasted typically, South Indian cuisine. Had a great time.
Vijay Suman Pasupuleti
Looked overpriced at the first look. The onion roast Dosa was worth every rupee. Nice service
Seema Misra
Mr. Idli wins you over with their interesting variations on the staple idli-dosa offerings. While they do their best to innovate, they do have some room for improvement in making the food spicier and tastier and cutting down on the generous ghee helpings. Nonetheless, it is an ideal stopover for hungry mall times when you look for a quick bite. Their staff is very friendly and patiently attend to the long queues of customers and explain each dish in detail. Daily specials are another attraction.
Favorites: Mysore Rocket Roast, Bangalore Soft Dosa, Hara Bhara Dosa, Rava Dosa(perfectly thin!), Mini Idli
Food: 6/10
Service:8/10
Price:8/10
Ambience:6/10

Awesome dosas! Tried the kanchipuram masala dosa and Mumbai open masala dosa. Excellent presentation and quick service. Need to try the place for idlis now :) must be their forte.
