Review Sea Rock - Bengaluru

memes from road
Sea Rock is a good place to visit and try sumptuous Coastal Karnataka Cuisine. A must-go place for many people who visit Bangalore, this place is known for serving delicious seafood in particular. Food was fresh as well as good and the service was apt. Preferable to reach the venue on time since the place gets occupied by customers quite rapidly.

The Sea Rock Hotel's menu is on the pricey side, but the flavors are worth it. Standout dishes like PRAWNS GHEE ROAST, ANJAL FISH, and TANDOORI MURGH are delicious but come at a premium. The GREEN SALAD and VEG CORIYANDAL SOUP offer a budget-friendly option, while the cocktails, like BARMAN SPL COCKTAIL, add a delightful touch to the dining experience.

Been their patron for the last 15 years & all the good things remain the same. + Best Coastal Seafood in Bangalore + Prawn & Chicken Ghee Roast, Neer Dose ~ Mangalore Fish Curry + Ambience, Staff, Valet Parking, Spacious Rest Room - Slightly expensive when compared to other similar restaurants but the overall experience is worth it

One of the best Seafood restaurants in Namma Bengaluru. The Crab Soup, Squid Chilli, Prawns Ghee Roast, Neer Dosa are a must try! If you’re craving something sweet, order the Ragi Manni. Had a great dining experience with extremely friendly staff & quick service.

Decent place for some mlore an Coastal food. Chicken ghee roast was really good. Squid oil fry felt very rubbery and we didn't enjoy it too much. Ambience is good and the service was also really good. The service road in front of the restaurant was under repair and hence you'll need to park near the garden closeby and walk up.

Welcome to Sea Food Paradise. Firstly, this old restaurant is located in Gandhinagar and closest metro station is mani square station. Parking is possible behind the restaurant. The ambience is very cozy and casual, with wooden tables and chairs spread through the restaurant. At the entrance of this restaurant there is a big fish tank with a pair of colourful fish. Sea food here is just outstanding and upon asking, we understood that this restaurant imports the freshest seafood it can find in the market before shipping it to their kitchen. Lastly, thumbs up to the service, During our last visit, the restaurant service was very good, Staffs were well dressed, well trained and were very professional. I will definitely come back soon. Very soon. :) FOOD RATINGS : MUST HAVE : * Anjal Tawa fry - 5/5 * Pomfret Tawa Fry - 5/5 * Kane Rawa fry - 5/5 * Prawn ghee roast - 5/5 * Squid ghee roast - 5/5 * Neer Dose - 5/5 * Mangalore Marwal Sukka - 5/5 * Crab Masale - 5/5 * Palak Rice - 4/5 * Kotte - 4/5 * Ragi Manni - 5/5 * Pundi - 4/5

The food was great. It is a kind of family restaurant. We as a bachelors didn't like the atmosphere much because it was giving vibes of a strict family house. I was feeling like the place was mint for old people who were strict and loved classical music type of things. Service was little slow. I was feeling like if we speak louder or make fun of anything we would be scolded. So I would suggest for family people.

Decided to have lunch here yesterday. It's located on the main road of Sheshadripuram. Parking is hard to find and the place is tucked between two other buildings. We luckily found a parking spot in the vicinity.

Ambience - Nothing great. It's maintained well. The staff are making sure that the place is clean and they sanitize the place after every customer.

Food - We ordered the famous Prawns Ghee roast and I must say this was the best dish. It's a must try. The pricing is way too high for the portion they serve. Then arrived the fish fry and chicken pepper dry. The fish fry was good with balanced flavor. I wouldn't say it was the best. Chicken was below average. Though the meat was fresh, the taste of the spices weren't balanced at all. The fresh lime soda was average too.
Everything in this place is priced really high and the portion served is not enough for a single person also.

Service - It was slow and we had to wait for quite some time. The staff were polite and courteous. They maintained well hygiene.

Ambience - 7/10
Food - 7.5/10
Service - 7/10

I doubt if I want to visit again. I might visit only for the prawns ghee roast.

My 1st dinning post lockdown was at sea rock! The mangalorean cuisine they serve here pulls back some of their loyal customers back again n again.
Hygienic: The dinning experience was hygiene with a check of temperature n hand sanitation at the entrance. The staff was limited with a limited items on the menu. The table sheets used were disposable ones n safe.
Food: Food here beats most of the mangalorean cuisine restaurants here in blore. It feels thrilled to savour thier food like pulimunchi n ghee roasts, which is by far the best ones tasted here. Their flavours are perfect n finger licking.
Tried their pepper chicken roast, fish chilli, prawn masala, boiled rice n pulimunchi. Loved al the dishes.
Price : price is a lil on the higher side, but its worth it if ur a seafood lover n u own a Zomato pro.
Ambience: ambience is more of a family restaurant
Overall loved the dinning experience in this new normal...we ought to be careful when we step out, but learn to live in the new normal as well.
Do let me know ur experience if u visiting or dinned out anywhere in this new normal?
#searock #seafood #diningpostlockdown #Thenewnormal

A neat place for an evening of sea food. Kane rava fry, prawns sukka, egg ghee roast and Kori gassi - all were fantastic !! The fresh lime soda was well made. Overall a good experience - 1 star reduced cos gold discount of 15% was not given on bill - wasn't able to get it on the app as well. Restaurant wasn't able to assist as well.

I totally loved this place and the food here was way beyond my expectations. the Ghee roast varities in the veg and non veg section are exceptional and are a definite must try. the neer dosa with the multi grain curry was amazing and lassi here is sweet and spectacular.
the dal khichdi and palak rice blew my mind as I did not imagine it to be so good, and these dishes are a must try when anyone visits this place. the Ambiance here is great and the service is promt and quick.
Will always recommend this place for amazing mangalorean cuisine as this is the best place in bangalore.

The place where seafood rocks - sea rock
Everytime I passed by kn the streets of Sheshadripuram there was one thing that I mostly felt missing was a lunch or dinner at The searock. But wish came true when I went to have my lunch with family in this place last Saturday.
Old school type ambiance with comfortable seating. Luckily the place did not smell fishy. Though this is a place that has been hee quiet a while they have maintained the cleanliness which is something that i appreciate.
Coming to food we were a group of 8 people that were a mix of vegetarians and non vegetarian for good pf choice.
here is what we all had here:
Anjal tawa fry - naked sear fish tawa fry. This one was mildly spiced and slightly tangy.
Pomfret masala fry - deep fried white pomfret fish served with a layer of moist masala. This can be relished as a starter alongside a drink or this pais will with neer dosa or pundi. I relished the whole of this on its own.
Marwai sukka - a quite popular coastal delicacy made using clams. A good dose of dry coconut used in the preparation enhanced the taste.
Kaane rawa fry - a classic rawa fry using kaane fish - the fish is vooked well. Not very oily. loved the crispy coat of rawa and tastebof masala. Took me back to my college bdays in Mangalore.
Prawn ghee roast - yet another coastal delicacy prepared busing fresh prawns that are cleanrd well. The masala had the right amount of spices and had a good generous dose of ghee.
egg ghee roast - classic coastal ghee roasy made using boiled eggs. had a generous coat of masala over the boiled eggs.
A vegetarian variant of ghee roast for the Vegetarian patrons were mushroom ghee roast and paneer ghee - the taste was not compromised - was in par with the non veg varaints in taste and texture.
The are the things we had for mains:
kotte kadubu - a dish that is made with rice rawa based batter that is steam cooked in cup made of leaves which is called kotte in local language - which gives it a name as kotte kadubu. loved the texture - this paired well with drumstick curry and bangada fish curry.
neer dosa - was super thin - but was a bit dry - could have been a bit moist. but the thin layer was a marvel.
Ragi manni - this is one other classic coastal dessert which should not be missed in this place.
All in all searock is one place where the sea food rocks with classic coastal taste. The highlight in this place is the fresh catch that goes into fish preparation.

After so many failed plans to go here, finally made my visit to the Bengaluru's one of the oldest, coastal food restaurant located in the centre of the city, just at the corner of Shivanand circle.

Started off with a strong masala filled buttermilk,I guess the best way to start one's meal on a heavy humid day.

To tell about this place, they serves basically the Mangalorean coastal food which again takes route of authentic Shetty style, so everything you can expect is the rich masala stuffed, flavoursome coastal delicacies.

Tried so many sea food starters here like prawns ghee roast, mussels fry, squid, kane fry, fish pulimunchi, crabs n some other. To sum all,
every dish here is a masterclass prepared by chef's who has a period of 20+ years experience.

Every starter was equally delicious giving the hint of slight coconut oil.
And if any vegetarians thinking that this is not a spot for you, you are mistaken my friend, this place really serves hell delicious vegetarian food which I was spellbounded as soon as I tasted.
To mention some they have some amazing Starters , to be explicit try there mushroom ghee roast I bet you won't stop for one plate. Indeed a beauty it is.

To give a hiatus before getting into the main course
I had there special sea food soup , OMG! Never tasted any mix of prawns n fish with a generous amount of coconut milk n some spices this soup was prepared to perfection.

In main course I tried their kotte kadubu, neer dose, with chicken curry n nuggekayi saaru. The best ever combination it was. The nuggekayi saaru was so good that you can feel that essence as soon as you take a bite.

To the end comes the real Gamer SEA ROCKS SPECIAL PALAK RICE , I was unaware that palak rice can be so tasty as it is here. The prominent flavour of palak hitting the senses makes you drool more. Must try when you are here.

To end a hearty meal we got our hands on the Ragi manni, nothing but a Panna cotta.

To conclude, sea Rock is place for all the food lovers especially the sea food lovers.

As the name suggests Sea Rock is a specialty restaurant serving quintessential sea-food dishes at affordable prices in the heart of Bangalore. Located in Seshadripuram, Sea Rock is a multi storied restaurant where in the decor is simple with walls covered with pictures depicting the traditional cuisine they specialize in. They also have a family section where larger groups can be accommodated with utmost comfort. This restaurant was founded in 1985 and has been serving authentic Mangalorean dishes since then. They also serve liquor here which can be paired well with the scrumptious starters that they offer! If one plans to reach this place via Metro, the nearest station is Mantri square which is less than a km.

Coming to the food, I am always eager to know the dishes that are in the menu as I'm a vegetarian. But Sea Rock did surprise me with their wide offerings! Due to fertile soil and abundant water resources, most coastal states are treasure troves of vegetables and spices, many native to a particular region and Mangalore is one such place in Karnataka!
I had a 4 course meal consisting of appetizers, mains, drinks and desserts.

In appetizers, I decided to try the mushroom ghee roast and paneer ghee roast. These were extremely fresh and aromatic! Paneer Ghee Roast is a fiery red, tangy, and spicy gravy with a flavour of clarified ghee in which the spices are roasted to perfection. The same goes with mushroom ghee roast where in they use button mushrooms here.

In mains - Pandengi Gassi, Neer dosa and Palak rice was recommended to try here. Pandengi Gassi which is green moong dal gravy is a native karnataka dish which is had as an accompaniment. This complemented really well with the hot and delicious Neer dosa! Neer dosa can also be had with the ghee roast dishes here. Palak rice is a delicious combination of rice, palak and everyday spices which was very homely to taste.

To end the meal, they serve Ragi Manni which is an Indian take on Panna Cota and is a traditional, healthy dessert made with ragi finger millets, sugar and milk that originates from karnataka. This pudding with its jelly-like texture tastes great when served chilled!

Ambiance - 4/5
Quality - 4.5/5
Taste - 4.5/5
Quantity - 4.5/5
Service - 4.5/5
Price - 4.5/5

Another legendary sea food restaurant that I went to for the first time, after wanting to for a long time. The ghee roast, squid masala, bangda curry with rice is just too good... over are as usual, and discovered a new sea food place.

Saturday afternoon lunch was so well sorted in Searock !!! This place is loaded with vivid variety of droolworthy seafood and Manglorean cusine. We tried the Vegetarian dishes there and trust me they , their vegetarian dishes are lip smacking and appetizing. We tried their signature dish like paneer, egg & mushroom ghee roast and they were mind blowing. The masala use were so well blended and well cooked to perfection and the show stoppers !!! Their main courses like neer dose and kote ( Manglorean idly steamed inside a leaf pouch ) was so immaculate and their gravies were promising Their signature dessert - Ragi manni is very good and the sweetness was to the mark. Over all the place is best for family and group parties with the best food . Pro tip : 1. liquor is also served inside 2. Parking for car is a bit tuff since the place is located at the main road 3. Cards accepted

Visited this place for the second time in 3 years. It’s still the same. Great food. Courteous staff. Nice ambience. Clean. Their seer fish masala fry and tawa fry are too good. Neer dose and Kundapur chicken, kane fish curry are tasty as well. Good for a quiet dinner with family or friends.

I heard alot about this place so decided to order from here.delivery was prompt.as for the food i ordered prawn ghee roast and chicken ghee roast together with neer dosa.
The flavour of the ghee roast was ok and neer dosa was good, the thing i was disappointed about was the quantity which was v less for the price paid.

My favourite place for Mangalorean cuisine and sea food. Being a Mangalorean myself I have always loved sea food and this place never fails to deliver the best. The restaurant is neat, hygienic and makes you feel very comfortable with its casual vibe where you can hang out with both family and friends for a good meal. The staff are very courteous and welcoming as well.

We had ordered the Anjal ( Seer Fish ) Tawa Fry and Bangada ( Mackerel ) Rava Fry to start our meal with. The staff also seemed to be well aware and have good knowledge about the best way to prepare these fish in order to bring out the best flavour. My husband initially wanted his Anjal to be a Rava Fry but the staff who took our order recommended he goes for a Tawa Fry instead as it would taste better and true enough it was extremely delicious and well balanced with regard to the spices used. The Bangada Rava Fry was also spot on in terms of taste and texture. The top most layer of the Rava was nice and crunchy and the fish was really tender and flavourful on the inside. One thing I found interesting here is the way they butterflied the Bangada and then fried it enabling the fish to cook faster and better and also making it convenient for us while we enjoy it. For our main course we ordered Chicken Sukka, Neer Dosa, Mangalorean Fish ( Pomfret ) Curry and a bowl of steamed rice to go with the curry. All the items were absolutely delicious to say the least and very well balanced. For someone like me who does not like her food to be overly spicy, this one aspect is something I loved as it made me enjoy the food even more. The portion sizes were reasonably good and quite affordable.

Overall it is definitely a great place for Mangalorean cuisine and sea food and who knows you might be one of the frequent customers once you try this place the first time - just as I am now.

Been here some time back with friends . Place was welcoming and staff were nice . They serve liquor also which is nice to go with non veg. We ordered one fish curry which was one full fish and also naans . They served with compliments that was a good gesture . Also we ordered Whiskey .even though they serve liquor the place is family friendly ambience that’s a good thing

Overall place is neat and clean and food is decent

I have heard of friends getting “dunzo” to travel 20km across the city to get food delivered home! Now I know why!!
Had to attend an official function in the vicinity. My partner had to accompany me, though she couldn’t partake in the official dinner. So we decided to “hook it” after the speeches - she found Searock and booked a table. We were surprised that a table was available at 9.30pm on a Saturday. Landed here. Valet parked.
The first floor was full, and we were guided upstairs. Menu card presented and after an appropriate interval the captain made recommendations. The anjal masala fry has to be one of the best I’ve had. The prawn ghee roast, my partner says was fantastic. The kane tawa fry (sorry Mangloreans but not my favourite fish), she says, was great. (And she never lies).
At this point I’m so impressed that I’m reviewing even as I’m having my dessert - the ragi mani is just right (not very sweet).
Oops, I forgot to mention the beer is the coldest you can get! Overall a great choice and an enjoyable impromptu evening.
Overall ***** definitely!!
@Joy .....
Nice ambience, they have inside bar longe ,which is quite congested, very much attractive they have live sea food counter, from there you can choose your own style food,

We tried angel tawa fry, crab and Mongolian fish curry with neer dosa, which is my always favorite dish..

Staff is very courteous and polite..

We will visit very soon again.

Definitely recommended place...
Sathya S
Very quite place with courteous service personnel.
Food is just average.
The Mangalorean Veg Thali was half Mangalorean with Neeru dose and boiled rice.
Rest of the items were not even closer to the cuisine.
Who serves Manchurian in Mangalore thali?
Payasa was good, egg ghee roast was good.
Patrode had oninon dressing!?!? Again very unlike Mangalore food. Fist thali had just two pieces of Fish. Hmmm.. Please make it like real Mangalore food or the coastal food.

Good place for sea food lovers..after searching 10s of places we ended here..Prawns ,chicken ware really tasty .but fish was also yum but highly overpriced...not that spicy .. 😅

This is an update after going there a second time. The food quality had dropped, and chicken curry was mediocre. The squid ghee roast was still great though. However, overall the experience was marred by the bad service.
Old review -
Amazing place for seafood! We ordered besta soup, squid ghee roast, clams sukka and bangada rava fry with neer dosa and shavige. The soup was so spicy and comforting. The ghee roast and the clams were on point!! Must try! I couldn't stop eating the clams. Other things were also good. I'm not too fond of rava fry generally, but this one was very good! They also have very nice looking pomfret to try next time!
Petson Chirangara
Food was just about ok. The Mangalore fish curry with Silver fish was not great. Mackerel fish fry was good.
A lazy late afternoon lunch was good with not much crowd on a holiday.

Ultimate Mangalorean food destination. Situated near majestic. Especially we went there for chicken ghee roast. The dish was really worth every penny. Chicken ghee roast with neer dosa I always crave for . Then my friend suggested to try their anjal masala fry. The fish size was so big to have for one person especially after had chicken ghee roast. We shared the dish. The fish was really fresh and the masala smell was very tempting. I liked tha flavor of coconut and Curry leaves in fish gravy. actually it was supposed to eat as a starter but I always like to have fish with rice. We finished our lunch with their famous dessert Ragi Mani.

Crabs! Something i always crave for! 🦀
So after enquiring a good Seafood resto in sheshadripuram.. Sea Rock was one of the top suggestions.. As soon as i entered my favourite Kokum Kadi.. it wasnt the authentic coastal kadi.. It was full of coconut and deficient in spices 😒 Ditched it.. We ordered Squid Masala Fry.. Well it could have been better.. Have tasted better ones before.. For Main course we ordered Steam Rice and Crab curry the Showstopper of our dinner ..Not sure if such a phrase can be used.. But anyway.. I hope you guys got my “Bhavana” ( feelings).. This was amazing.. Apart from the embarrassing shell crackling sounds we were doing and struggling with.. The crabs were awesome.. ❤️ Will be visiting again solely for the crabs 😬 A big thumbs up guys!

Our quest for authentic coastal Indian fare in central Bangalore finally ended at Sea Rock. Established in 1985 at Sheshadripuram , this legendary place is known for amazing seafood delicacies from the Konkan coast that includes culinary hubs of Mangalore, Kundapur and Karwar. . Be it a Fish , chicken or veg Thali for wholesome launch , or array of sumptuous Mangalorean fish and sea food starters like the Masala , Rawa or Naked fry style with favourite sea food like pomfret , kane , crab or seer to chose from , their menu is a beautiful symphony of coastal delights.

Skip this review if you intend to have their famous non-veg food.
This restaurant with its traditional décor and hospitality will give you a feel of late 90's style of Indian dining. We went to this place going by the reviews notwithstanding that we (being vegetarian) may get disappointed with the food. But no, they scored extremely well with their veg options and taste!

This is one of those few restaurants in Bangalore that serve great North Indian food. Their paneer tikka masala and daal tadka are rich and delicious - must try for the veggies!

Sea rock! Finally!
So we were here for lunch today and our experience was wonderful.
The staff here is exceptional, from the moment we reached here, the valet was so very courteous to the very end, we had a great time.
We started off by ordering the kokum kadi, delicious! Next we tried the butter garlic squid, absolutely delicious, the squid was prepared perfectly! 5/5. Next we tried the masala fry pomfret, prawns ghee roast, Mangalore fish curry with neer dosa, kotte and indiyappam. Personally, my favourite was the neer dosa-ghee roast combo but everything tasted excellent.
Wanted to try some dessert but we were beyond full at this point.
I'd like to mention Mr. Vinod, he's the reason this place gets a 5/5 rating.

Food: 5/5
Ambience: 4/5
Service: 5/5
Value for money: 5/5

Very soon. :)

FOOD RATINGS :

MUST HAVE :

* Anjal Tawa fry                     - 5/5

* Pomfret Tawa Fry               - 5/5

* Kane Rawa fry                     - 5/5

* Prawn ghee roast                - 5/5

* Squid ghee roast                 - 5/5

* Neer Dose                            - 5/5

* Mangalore Marwal Sukka    - 5/5

* Crab Masale                         - 5/5

* Palak Rice                             - 4/5

* Kotte                                     - 4/5

* Ragi Manni                           - 5/5

* Pundi                                    - 4/5

Just went there with colleagues for our year end lunch. It was a foodie's delight with the best Manglorean food I've had in Bangalore till date. We started with some awesome starters like silverfish rava fry, Squid Sukka, Prawn ghee roast. The squid sukka was divine, as were the other items. In the main course we stayed the Manglorean theme and ordered Searfish pulimunchi and Kane fish curry. These exquisite preparations paired well with a assortment of neer dosa, pundi and kottE idli. Being a Konkani, I can vouch for the authenticity of the khoTTE idli, fragrant with the smell of jackfruit leaves and all. We ended lunch with an equally delicious ragi pudding like dessert (forgot the name, 'M....'). In all, a great dining experience in this restaurant that's tucked away in the busy bustle of Shivananda Circle. I found no reason to take any stars away, so five delicious stars to this place!!!!

I have stayed in manipal (konkan region) for four long years and developed a taste for the mangalorean food. Never got a chance to have anything that authentic after leaving the place 3 years back. Reserved a table for 2, but found it empty as we arrived early. Staff is extremely courteous and the ambience is of a good standard.

We started with the Besta soup which was extremely spicy but tasty, followed by squid ghee roast which was delightful! The complementary wafers were so good I was tempted to have a beer.

For the main course, we had Bangude Pulimunchi to go with Pundi, Neer Dosa and boiled rice. The Pulimunchi curry was slightly on the spicy side but tangy enough. Neer Dosa was made fresh for us since the earlier serving had gone cold. We ended our meal with the Ragi Manni which came recommended by the manager and was quite good (not too sweet, which we liked).

The only disappointment was that neither Pathrode nor Khotte were available, but I will surely ask for those on my next visit.

Overall, a highly recommended experience. I will surely be visiting again soon.

Sea Rock is a Mangalore based seafood restaurant located in Sheshadripuram. It is located very near to Shivanand Circle.

The ambience is pretty normal, nothing fancy. You will get an experience pretty close to Fine Dining while dining here. They also have a small bar counter.

Coming to food, the restaurant is quite famous for Mangalorean coastal cuisine. They serve South Indian, North Indian, Chinese, Mughlai cuisine as well but I tried many food items from the coastal cuisine during my recent visit.

In Beverages, I tried this Kokum Kadi from the which was blended with spices, kokum and coconut milk. It tasted unique and great.

Starters:

Lady Fish Rava Fry: This looked too appealing to the eyes. Fish was properly cooked from inside and was crispy outside.

Chicken/Prawn/Mushroom/Paneer Ghee Roast: Ghee Roast is something that has evolved from Mangalore and spread to various nearby parts. Each dish was prepared perfectly with lots of ghee in it. Loved the meat and masala.

Pomfret Tawa Fry: Another dish which appeared appealing to the eyes. prepared with a perfect blend of spices. Good in taste.

Silver Fish Rava Fry: Small deep fried fish coated with lots of rava which made it crispy. Tasted similar to Lady Fish Rava Fry but was small in size.

Main Course:

Kundapur Chicken Curry: It was prepared in Mangalorean style and spices. It tasted different and was delicious.

Pundi: Mangalorean rice dumplings, made with rice-coconut batter. Combined this with chicken curry and it tasted too good.

Kori Rotti: Thin crispy rice wafers, enjoyed it by topping the chicken curry above it.

Dessert:

Ragi Manni: This was an authentic Mangalorean desert made of Ragi, Jaggery and coconut milk. It was super soft and had the perfect amount of sweetness.

The staff is very sweet and polite. They greet you and help with everything.

Sea Rock is one of the most popular old restaurants in Bangalore which are known for coastal cuisine. Wanted to try this from a long back and finally went there with a bunch of friends on a weekday afternoon and I absolutely fell in love with the food they served their. Though they have a lot of options available in their menu but basically Mangalore cuisine is their speciality.
I ordered one Kokum Kadi from the drinks which was very well blended with spices, kokum and coconut milk.

From the Food :
Lady Fish rawa fry- This was good but what i felt is the coating of rawa over it was a little to much which made it less crispy as it is supposed to be and also it hinders the flavour too.
Pomfret Tawa Fry- likes it a lot. Perfect balance of masalas were there. Fish was fresh and well cooked.
Kane rawa fry- A perfect kind of rawa fish fry, with perfect crunch and flavour.
Prawn /chicken/mushroom/Squid ghee roast- I always do prefer squid ghee roast the most. It is a perfect side dish with neer dosa. You can have it with kori roti also. Other ghee roasts were average, not bad at all! They use big sized sea crabs in their ghee roast which makes the dish even more delicious!
Mangalore Sukka (squid/marwal/crab)- Sukkha is my another favourite from Mangalore cuisine. Loved the squid sukkha.
Pathrode- A new kind of fish which I had from Mangalorean cuisine . It is made of colocasia leaves well blended with spices.
Ragi Manni- It is a traditional Mangalorean dessert made of Ragi and jaggery. It has the consistency of pudding. I felt this could have been a little better.

My rating:
Food: 4/5
Ambience: 4.5/5
Service: 4.5/5
Value for money: 4/5

Sea Rock one of the oldest restaurant with expertise in Mangalorean cuisine. These place is one of those which serves some amazing sea food. Visited this place with couple of my foodie friends to try out coastal Karnataka dishes. Ambiance was minimal with proper interiors and decor but I feel there should be more lighting. Service was perfect and staffs were very cooperative and humble.

we have started with manchow soup, fresh water melon juice and kokum kodi.

Kokum kadi: this is very famous drink from coastal konkan reagion, made from kokum and coconut milk which act as digestive drink . Tried it for first time and loved the taste, perfectly made.

Manchow soup and watermelon juice was perfect.

Starters:

Seer Fish Rava/Masala Fry: Masala fry was mouth drooling, perfect combination of masala. Loved the taste.

Lady Fish Rava Fry: This looks very amazing and taste great. Fish was properly cooked from inside and was crispy outside.

Pomfret Tawa Fry: This one was my favorite and must recommended. prepared with perfect blend of spices.

Chicken/Prawn/Mushroom/Paneer Ghee Roast: Must recommended to try this authentic mangalorean dish. It was prepared perfectly with lots of ghee in it. Loved the taste.

Silver Fish Rava Fry: This one was interesting and always want to try this fish. this was deep fried fish coated with lots of rava which makes it crispy.

Pathrode: this is steamed dumpling made by spicy batter and colocasia leaves. Tatse really good and must recommended for vegetarians out there.

Main course:

Chicken Curry: prepared in mangalorean style and spices. taste little different than usual chicken curry.
Kundapura Chicken: This was mouthdrooling and loved the taste.

Pundi: Mangalorean rice dumplings, made with rice-coconut batter. loved this authentic dish.

Kori Rotti: Thin crispy rice wafers, enjoyed this with chicken curry.

Kotte Kadubu: this is super soft aromatic idlis made in jackfruit leaves. it was soft and fluffy.

Desert:

Ragi Manni: This was authentic mangalorean desert made of Ragi (Finger Millets), Jaggery and coconut milk. It was super soft and perfect amount of super. This is perfect desert to end your meal.

Overall great place to experience some authentic mangalorean cuisine in bangalore. Quality and quantity of food is perfect for the price.

Sea rock is one of the famous and oldest restaurant in Bangalore which is known for Coastal delicacies. All the fish lovers must visit this place and try out their different varieties of fish fries

Must try dishes:
1. Pomfret Tawa Fry
2. Kane Rava Fry
3. Silver Fish Fry
4. Marwal Sukka
5. Mushroom Ghee roast
6. Kundapur Chicken curry
7. Anjal Pulimunchu

Pomfret Tawa Fry was one of the best dishes I had here. The fish was flavourful in terms well balanced spices and the fish was very fresh.

Chicken/Mushroom ghee roast : Very nicely cooked and had the perfect flavours and aroma of a authentic ghee roast.

Silver fish fry: it was crispy and perfectly cooked and mildly spiced. I just loved it.

Marwal/Crab Sukka: They were delicious. I loved the marwal Sukka most. Very well cooked. Perfect balance of spices and grated coconut.

Sea Rock is one of those legendary Mangalorean restaurants in Bangalore. This place located in Sheshadripuram is a must visit place for all seafood lovers. In short, my recommendations here would be to try out some of the Rawa fish fries (Kane or Lady Fish being my favourite), Ghee Roast and Mangalore Sukka dishes.

Following are the dishes I tried on my visit there:

Sol Kadhi - This is one of my favourite drinks to accompany with such rich and spicy food. They made is perfect with a blend of spices, kokum and coconut milk.

Pomfret Tawa Fry - The fish was very fresh and perfectly spiced.

Silver Fish Rawa Fry - This was nice, but the since the size of the fishes were small, being silver fish I felt the rawa coating on the fish was a little too much. So felt a little lacking in flavours.

Kane Rawa Fry - This is one of my top recommendations here. After having rawa fries of different fishes I realised it goes the best with Kane or Lady Fish. They did an absolute justice to this.

Chicken/Prawn/Squid/Mushroom Ghee Roast - I liked the Chicken and the Prawn Ghee Roast the most. The Mushroom one was a little average. The squid though tasted very good(the squid was pretty fresh) got a little chewy due to overcooking. Neer dosa goes well with the Ghee Roasts.

Mangalore Sukka (Marwai/Clam, Squid, Crab) - Another Mangalorean preparation I love a lot. The Marwai or the Clam Sukka was mindblowing - the star of the day. Even the crab was amazing too. The Squid Sukka had the same overcooked issue.

Pathrode - This was some new dish that I had and I found it interesting. A typical vegetarian Mangalorean dish prepared with colocasia leaves stuffed with spices and rice flour.

Pundi - This Steamed rice dumplings, which looked almost like rosogollas were had along with the curries.

Kori Roti - Kori Rotti with Chicken Curry is one of my favourite Mangalorean dishes. They got it perfect.

Kotte Kabudu - Loved this flavourful and aromatic idlis steam inside jackfruit leaf cups.

Kundapur Chicken - Loved this spicy chicken curry. It was well accompanied with Neer Dosa and Semiya/Shavige.

Palak Rice - This was a pretty interesting dish with a thick khichidi like texture. After eating a so much of fish, seafood and chicken this was a welcome change for your taste buds.

Ragi Manni - This traditional Ragi and Jaggery based Mangalorean custard could have been a little better.

I loved this place. Though the ambiance is nothing to talk about, this place some of the best Mangalorean food. I will definitely come back again, especially for the Marwai Sukka and Kane Rawa Fry.

Worst experience. For 270 I just got 4 small neck pieces of chicken. Also being a Mangalorean I would say that this restaurant has no idea about the authentic Mangalorean sukha

If Sea Food is all that matters for you, then this is a must visit.
Amazing Mangalore style cuisine, with seafood speciality.
I frequently visit the place. Its located in Shivananda Circle.
All items both veg and non veg are good. Recommend
-Fish Thali, Fish Fry and Prawns Ghee Roast
-Dessert Ragi Pudding
-Service is good
-Price would cost about 1500+ for two people, Depends on the seafood you choose
-The ambience is OK kind. Food Makeup for it.

Nice place to hangout with friends, Bira not on the list and very less options in veg starters so 3 rating, otherwise nice place and good food. Try neer dosa and tomato curry.
It has nice ambience and great food quality. We ordered squid masala and pomfret fry which was really good ,specially the squid masala was awesome. Even mangaloren sukha chicken was tempting with neer dosa.
Will definitely visit again. Cheers !

Very disappointing Fish Food. Extremely less quantity does not buy in for such high prices. There is no difference in the food from this place and some of the other good sea food restaurants at lower prices. Then why is the high price for ? - Proximity to Kumara Park ?? ;)

Sea Rock is one of those restaurants that concentrates on serving their customers with the best of Mangalorean food and that's exactly what this restaurant does too. Every food that we had ordered tasted good. My favorite was the mushroom ghee roast. I felt the quantity was little less for the price that they charge. Ambience is also not that great. Ragi manni in the dessert menu caught my eyes and I ordered it. It has that authentic traditional flavor of Mangalorean house hold. Plus point for the servers. They knew what was good and what wasn't. They understand the customers and serve well.

Went during the dinner time. Right from the entrance you feel welcomed by the hostess and staff . Ordered masala fried crabs , fried rice and anjal tawa fry. Food was beyond good and very fresh and delicious. Service was amazing and Mr. Ganesh was kind enough to recommend all the good stuff from the menu. He definitely made the whole experience better. We also ordered a kingfisher premium and a pina colada which was good too. Overall, very satisfied. Would recommend to other friends as well.
Today we had visited the restaurant for lunch tried the ghee roast prawns and chicken which was good....
The disappointment was when we saw the bill for the 2 palm size pomfret fish which was charged @Rs.1600/- charged which is way too high...each costing Rs.800/-
Management must consider the rates...what a experience of paying twice the cost... even the staff would recommend the customer to order for fish which they say it's fresh and nice ....
My low rating goes for the prices..
The food here is lovely! As the name suggests their main speciality is sea food and they dont disappoint when it comes to it.
I tried their mackerel tawa fry, which had the most lip smacking masala coated on the fish! Next i had the ajwaini fish tikka, again soft, succulent and flavourful fish. In main course i tried their mangalorean style prawn curry with rice. The prawn were nicely cooked and the curry with amazing! It was delight to have with the steaming rice.
In conclusion, i can't wait to try more of their dishes and I can't recommend this place enough to all sea food lovers out there!

I was never expecting a better place for dining and boozing. The food was amazing. Not to forget that you get Sandige as complimentary Bar Snack. The food was amazing. Masala Papad could've been better. The Panneer dish was amazing. Booze was served on time.

I have no idea how I had not noticed this place earlier but I'm glad I finally ate here.
Ambiance : old school but hygienic and functional
Service: The one thing that trumps the food. The staff are very courteous and behave better than most star hotels.
Food: The ghee roast is excellent. The neer dosa and mangalore curry are fantastic.

Went down for a quick lunch. Ambience is decent.. Casual sitting arrangement.. Staff very courteous.. Prompt service.. Fast delivery.. But the best part was "the food"..
Ordered a chicken ghee roast.. Which luked really rich but was so soft on the palette.. the prefect blend of the spices tossed in ghee was droll worthy.
Ordered mutton biryani.. the biryani rice was really a good mix of flavours none overpowering.. N to top it the mutton pieces were so succulent n juicy.. loved it!
For me a next visit is a must to try all the mangalorean cuisines it is famous for.. 😊😉

Most recently started to crave for Sea Rock food. The sea food is to die for. Never been disappointed with the food. It's fresh and delicious. Really gives you the best of Mangalorean cuisine. The service and ambience is very warm and they treat you like family. Our favorite dishes are the prawn sukka and Neer dosa with mutton rogan josh. Fish starters and the crab are also amazing!

My all time favourite restaurant! Over the last 2.5 years, no matter how many options I consider.. whether its to order in or to dine- this is the chosen place. Being a vegetarian, love starting with Manchow / Lemon corriander soup, Hara Bhara kabab, followed by Neer dosa with Ghee roast/ Palak rice/ Dal khichadi and the unique ‘Manni’ for dessert! Best part- rich flavours with no added colours (check yourself by washing off with plain water). Great taste, calm ambience and friendly staff!

While am familiar & open to most popular cuisines outside India, I cannot say that for the diverse cuisines across India. Coastal Karnataka Cuisine, more specifically Mangalorean Cuisine is something I have always been skeptical to try, primarily with the strong usage of dry coconut.

Recently when I got to try Searock, which specialises in the Coastal Cuisine, with a bunch of foodies, I was excited at the same time, well yes skeptical.

Thankfully the restaurant offers North Indian & Indian Chinese, so I started off with a very meaty Crab Soup, Chinese Style.

The soup was a great start to a great meal, with very strong crab flavours finding its dominance with the sweet corn. The result was an absolutely fabulous seafood soup with some great flavours with a mild pepper punch.

For appetisers, my fellow foodie from Coastal Karnataka, not just helped me decide what to try, but also shared a bit of history & the ingredients that go into the dish, focusing on the star of the show, the seafood.

The King Fish / Surmai Tawa Fry was a beautifully large slice of fresh fish, perfectly marinated with strong South Indian flavours was just right. I loved every bit of this well cooked fish.

Next came the Steaming Hot Plate Of Squid Chilly, a specialty here. I am not A Big Fan Of Squids, but not after having this beautifully fresh Squid Rings in a Chinese Stir Fry. The squids were fresh, well cooked & seasoned & I loved it.

Next came a Delicious Fresh Serving Of Pomfret Masala, smothered with strong Coastal masala atop a well grilled whole Pomfret. It was slightly less desirable for me, as the strong Coastal flavours with dry coconut is something am not a big fan of. But I was able to carve out the beautifully flaky fish underneath the masala & could devour it by carefully avoiding the bones.

Something very authentic to Karnataka is the Ghee Roast. It is a popular Bunt Tuluva Mangalorean recipe whose origins go back to a small town, Kundapur, close to Mangalore. Ghee Roast has a fiery red, tangy and spicy with a flavor of ghee roasted spices, with a choice of meat added.

We had two variations, a Mushrooms & Prawns Ghee Roast. The Prawns version was beautiful, perfectly cooked meat on the strong coastal flavours with a tad bit strength of dry coconut. Am not a big fan of the strong dry coconut flavour, but the ghee made all the difference to this wonderful dish. The Prawns version was a tad bit salty, which made it slightly less desirable.

The mushrooms version was perfect, no complaints, strong ghee / clarified butter with coastal masala was just too perfect.

The Bangda Fish & Kane Fish Rawa Fry was perfectly presented with strong & beautiful flavours of the sea, masked in the sooji / rawa.

Next was some beautiful mussels, presented well. The authentic Marvai Sukka was well cooked, tasted delicious. These Humble Mussels Cooked In A Coconut Heavy Dry Masala was one of my favourites.

Too heavy with all these appetisers, we wished to skip directly to desserts, but were requested to try the most popular, Pulimunchi, Neer Dose & Kotte Idli.

Neer Dosa With Prawns Pulimunchi was delicious with strong flavours. This Paper Thin Neer Dosa went beautifully with the Spicy & Tangy Prawns Pulimunchi, a Mangalorean Specialty, made authentically with kokum.

The Kotte Idli was good, blended well with the Mangalorean Sambar.

One of the surprise elements however was the Palak Kichidi that was by far the best I had in many many years. It transported me back to my days in Mumbai, I will keep visiting them again & again just for this top notch dish, don’t you ever miss it.

The final course of Ragi Manni or Finger Millet Pudding is a traditional, healthy dessert is India’s answer to the Italian Panna Cotta. It’s whose origins could be traced to the diverse cuisines of Karnataka.

Sea Rock Bangalore I hear is one of the oldest restaurant serving Coastal Karnataka cuisine in Bangalore for decades, successfully. Service was very honest, homely & perfect. I have no doubts that for them to serve such wonderful food for several years always so much on their consistency to quantity which attracts customers again & again.
