Review Bowring Kulfi - Bengaluru

Vishal Shrivastava
Most authentic taste. Completely fond of this kulfi. I ensure whenever I pass by, I will always have one. My favourite kulfi is pista badam. I would strongly suggest to try atleast once.

Excellent kulfi choice. This is one place that always reminds me of my childhood. Like all other traditional places in Bangalore , Bowring kulfi is one of them. If you are in Bangalore and have not visited and tasted their kulfi, then your visit is incomplete.

Mango and kesar khajoor kulfi are amazing. Blackcurrant has synthetic taste. Overall an excellent shop for kulfi. It is said - kulfi to kulfi hoti hai, kulfi ice cream nahi hoti. 😀

Always the best, Better than most other kulfis Consistent and amazing.

Very affordable kukfis, milk 🥛 shakes and ice cream. Highly recommended for a quick hydration.

Bowring kulfis are good and reasonably priced. This place does not have a seating area but there is plenty of space to stand under the tree shade on the footpath adjacent to the broad one-way Residency road.

Stumbled by here after walking around discovering Bangalore. Wanting some ice cream on a hot day and this was the place to get it. I got the Mango Kulfi and oh my goodness it was soooo good. Because of the way it was made it doesn't melt fast, so we were able to take it away and keep walking without it going everywhere. They had lots of different flavors!

Had yummy & mouthwatering kulfis, the best flavour is kesar badam, with crispy badam pieces. Very friendly staff, also when you need a parcel to your house, the staff ensures it gets neatly packed with proper refrigeration.

Another classic of Bangalore. Most of us from the early 2000's have fond memories of this place. The best quality kulfi :)
Mayuri Nidigallu
This place is famous for a reason!

Tried their 'Gadbad' and it was heavenly! A generous serving that was complete value for money and rated high on the taste quotient too!

Qulfilicious Kulfis.
Kulfis with a great blend of Aroma and texture.
They have a wide variety of flavours for their Kulfis. Pretty decent pricing.
The density of the cream in the Kulfis seems to be depreciating from time to time. They melt as fast as a normal Ice-cream these days.
Situated well by the Residency Rd., You'll love sitting under the tree and enjoying your kulfis watching the city traffic.

Great kulfi's at a budget friendly cost. The Kesar pista is the winner as per general opinion. I was not very happy with the Kesar khajoor. The chocolate kulfi was average. There are some unique offerings like coconut and pan kulfi.

The best kulfis in town, having experienced this place since childhood I can say their taste, quality and perseverance to deliver quality kulfis have never gone down one bit. An amazing place. Must try. Overall great experience.
The Food Fantasy
My childhood favorite place , the multi is so addictive that I can eat whole day, but one kulfi is sufficient to fill you stomach my favourite is pista badam

Don’t know why but I’m addicted to this place. Then why have I given it only 3 stars? Well, it is not as enticing as it was back in the days - when there was a permanent crowd in that corner of Bowring Club. Today, I had the Shahi Kulfi and I was rather disappointed. I presume the newer brands will take over slowly. Yet, I will stop by every time I’m in the area and have one of the dozen or more varieties.

Visited factory to check how Bowring kulfi is manufactured . Worst place .very very unhygienic place . People' while wrapping kulfi don't use gloves.water is stagnant every where .milk cans were washed proper .water used was not good please be careful when u have Bowring kulfi
Soumyajit P

While I was growing up, Bowring juice stall was the magical place that had mango juice all year round.

I happened to visit today after a long time and was happy to enjoy my fresh mango juice again. It was delicious, even though it wasn’t the special off season kind.

I have to say, that uncle behind the counter looks exactly the same as he did when I was in school! Must be all the fresh fruit juices he’s probably having everyday, keeping him from ageing. Haha

I don’t use straws myself, but I do hope they start using paper straws for takeaways instead of the plastic.

So the place does not have that good looks as a good ice cream parlour would have, but boy the ice creams are just amazing. We ordered kulfi and they were really amazing.Black Current and Strawberry kulfi are really good and this is a must try if you happen to be around this neighbourhood.

The best place to get Kulfi in Bangalore. It's been there since ages and shifted to Residency Road a few years back.
The Kesar Badam, Kesar Pista and Elachi are my personal favorites!
Pratik Chandak
What used a be an iconic outlet in Bangalore some 15 years ago when it used it be situated at St Marks road is now mainly a shadow of what it was.

There was a time when the place used to have literally 30 people queued up - rich and not so rich - be it for the juices or the kulfis. But now I believe the quality has diluted and the kulfis aren't as milky and flavorful as before.

Nonetheless, I'd recommend Kesar Pista, Kesar Khajoor and Pista Badam kulfis for sure. Even the Elaichi and mango variants are good.

Tried their falooda which was very nicely made. Probably the best I had. It wasn't too sweet as well. I will totally go back to try their kulfis.

Happened to be at this place on sunday after breakfast at MTR. Tried the mango duet but didn't find it any good. Kwality walls mango duet is a better one. Not a good experience this time.

Fancy something cold to beat the heat?
Check out Bowring Kulfi on Residency Road, if you havent already. Most Bangaloreans grew up on it and we wouldn't be exaggerating if we said that you'll never have kulfi elsewhere in the city, after trying it here!
Yash Rathi
In mood for something cold! Friend and I decided to head here with a little detour!
I love their flavours and took the badam pista kulfi and litchee kulfi! Litchee kulfi was something new and i must say it tasyed brilliant! Will be back for more !
Sanaaz R Doust
One of the best kulfi joints in Bangalore- reasonable, delicious and a place that's so centrally located and open till late. Must visit after a heavy weekend meal
Purva Bhatnagar
I had heard a lot about this place so I headed out to find out what the fuss was all about. I must say I was not disappointed. The bowring kulfi is a balanced, nuanced and absolutely delectable dessert for the after meal hankerings. The kesar pista and Kedar Khajur flavours are must try.
Abhishek Sen
This is a cult landmark ion residency road.
The kulfis can be tried any time of the day.
one must also keep some tummy space for the shakes.
Though the place is a kulfi flagship, the accessories are not bad either
Foodiesm
Best stick kulfi in Bangalore for sure! Much better than the ones available various flavours and in various outlets.
Its nice and mouthful kulfi with authentic taste.
Must try if you are a kulfi fan and in Bangalore! It's an old legendary place for kulfi.

I remember going to this place when ith was at st marks road , with my dad almost 20 years back use to get the small stick elichi kulfi Unfortunately they have stopped now , but has a replacement of the same with big size ,
Still thr quality remains the same

Must have kesar badam kulfi
Pistachio milkshakes

Bowring Kulfi has been a long standing establishment that has never failed to deliver when it comes to these tasty treats! I've been a patron for more than 15 years and I must say, although they have moved from their original spot near Bowring Institute a few years ago, the quality and taste of their products has not changed a bit. A must visit during mango season. The mango juice and milkshakes are excellent! As for the kulfis? Personal favs include kesar and badam-pista. Must try, won't disappoint! Although parking might be an issue, worth the trouble! That's for sure.

After a decent Vegetarian lunch at Konark, we headed to yet another ancient Bangalore food joints. I have visited residency road so many times but somehow missed this place. Finally I was here, listening to 50-60 year olds telling me about all the old stories at bowring kulfi which was at a different place then.

They enjoyed having it but did claim that the taste has changed a bit during the years. For me it was the first time and it was just good! Not the best I have had though. I tasted almost all the kulfis here but Kesar Badam was my favourite. Next could be the malai mango!

Perks of dining with 25 people is that you get to taste everything on the menu :p

Sweet lassi was also great and it always feels good to end a meal with a lassi!

Might give it a try again, it's not bad though :)

Bowring kulfi is like a part of ancient bangalore that had passed down the years and yet had retained its quality over all the years... Our family has been visiting this place since the days of my great grand dad... So u could only imagine how old this place is...

A few years back when the stall shifted to residency road, I was extremely happy that kulfi was now within an arms reach from home... Located opposite the Ritz Carlton, the place serves you some of the best kulfi in bangalore at extremely reasonable rates... I especially love their mango kulfi, pasta kulfi and malai kulfi... I've heard that their flavoured kulfis too are quite gud tho am yet to try them...

Apart from kulfis, the stall serves some ice candies, juices, shakes and lassi... If there's one thing that the place guarantees u, it's the quality... You are not cheated at any time and keeping the prices in mind, it gives you complete value for money!!

If your in the CBD and are looking for some ice cream apart from the usual corner house stuff, bowring stall may be a gud option...

If you are a true Bangalorean you should know this place for its legendary Kulfi. Love the flavors! A perfect place to celebrate small things in life. :)
Best Kulfi one will find in Bangalore.
A small joint which is always crowded in evenings. Taste like real fruit Kulfi with many options available.
Must visit place.
Lohith Ramachandra
One of the best kulfis in town for sure! Bowring kulfi is one of the famous Kulfi places in Bangalore which was located exactly next to the bowring club near Koshy's. This place is always crowded during the evenings and cars parked outside where people wait to have these kulfis. Kesar Pista, Pista Badam and Dry Fruit and Matka kulfi are available options with each one tasting one better than the other for sure! Dont miss out on this place if you love kulfis.

Rating- 4/5

Budget - 200 for 2
Uday Bhandarkar
One of the best kulfi's ever in Bangalore. Its been around for a very long time and consistently managing to churn out same quality kulfi's.

And of course worth every penny you pay

This is one of the oldest kulfi counters .... The bowring kulfi hasn't changed a bit in taste ...you need a quick dessert not too sweet not too creamy try bowring 😝👍😜

This place is one of the Best and Oldest joints for a Kulfi!!! The shop is located opposite to Ritz Carlton Hotel in Residency Road... The Kulfis available here are of Diverse flavours. Each Kulfi has its own Significant taste and is worth every penny you pay for... On the whole it is one of of the best joints for a Kulfi...
Ankur Kacker
Located just opposite The Ritz Carlton Hotel on Residency Road this place is not difficult to locate at all. However finding a parking could be a headache

As my office upon a time used to be located just opposite to it was a regular visitor here for their Kulfis consisting the Pista, Badam all being one better than the other.

They also do serve Fresh Fruit juices and they are all quite good as well.

Decent Service as there is nothing much to do apart from just across the counter service

A VFM as a quick juice and Kulfis for 2 would cost not more than Rs 120/-
Stephen Pradeep
Have tried a few varieties of Kulfis here. Kesar Pista, Pista Badam and Dry Fruit. All are quite good. Tasty and delicious. Will try the Matka Kulfi next time and then revise my rating. They certainly have a wide variety though. And yes, this is one place I will love to continue to visit. Thank you folks.

Simple things in life give you great pleasure.... one of them being the bite at the bowring kulfi ...

The taste has remain the same ever since my childhood.. you cannot compare it with the regular Corner House, Baskin-Robbins, ibaco and others... as kulfi has it own identity in India i.e its always served in a petty shop, ideally had at the midnight on the road side... Drive down after a meal with your family and try the limited options they have, you will not be disappointed at all.... best of all, its not heavy on ur pocket

Story of Bowring kulfi

Bowring kulfi were the sole distributor of kulfis in bangalore... they were popular for 50 paisa and Rs. 1 kulfis for decades. In early 2000 they stopped the 1 rupee kulfies and came up to big size sticks which was priced at Rs 15.

Originally the stall was located right next to the back gate of Bowring Institute Club as the club increased the rent and it was a steepy hike, the owners decided to shift to the corner of petrol bunk, located beside the clubs property. Than came the bouncer, due to disputes among the partners they shut shop for few months in 2011-12...( i almost thought they wound up the business, which was disappointing) but later they resumed business on residency road and jayanagar.

As of now, you can pick up a kulfi at goli vada pav and may other outlets across bangalore ... check out the branding on the paper rolled across the kulfi for originality...
Suraj Vasanthan
if i walk around this place.. i make sure i have one kulfi from store :) just love it !! I make sure my friends too try it !! The best Kulfi in Bangalore I have till date !!
Dipak Sand
Really nice kulfi ... Oy thing is that the quantity is too much .. After a while it just does not taste the same .. They can probably reduce the quantity and price goes without saying :)
Kunguma Keerthana
Always an addict for bowring kulfi....
The taste is always perfect and the quality of the kulfi is also high... !!
The price range is also reasonable and worth paying for the taste and perfect flavour. .. !!
Talking about the ambience , there is nothing much like sitting arrangements and all...
Its just a simple juice stall in the main road... so can't expect much of peace there...
But you can enjoy more when you hang on with friends in a car and you can park your car in front of the stall and place orders without putting your foot outside and enjoy your kulfi inside with the music on and chatting with friends. .. ;-)
Saran2smart
Best kulfis!!!

i don't miss going to this place whenever i travel around this outlet. kulfi is the best not to mention pista shake, choclate shake

I used to always wonder why a lot of cars and bikes used to be parked close to this petrol pump near Bowring and people coming back with packs in their hands. Then, one of my friends told me that they serve Amazing Kulfis at Amazing prices and thats what I got when I tried this place. A good variety of kulfis they serve. My all time favourite is Kesar Badam Kulfi. And in case you wanna take some of those sweet moments with you home for your loved ones, they pack the kulfis in crushed ice and salt so that it does not melt on your car seat and rather melt away on to your heart.

Must Visit

In its stall avatar, Bowring Kulfi was a legend of sorts. Now in the form of a humble shop, its still a treat for late night kulfi cravings for those who know of the new location.
