Review Woody's - Bengaluru

swathi bhat
The restaurant is located in the busy street. There is both self service ground floor and service in the 1st floor. The food tasted good. The ambiance is ok. The service is good . The staffs are friendly.

Food is super yummy. The price is expensive. What I don't like is self service☹️ It's overcrowded most times. Not the kind where u can peacefully sit and have ur meal, very noisy. Lots & lots of varieties, be it meals or snacks. Best coffee though the froth layer is more & coffee quantity less for Rs. 25. Only vegetarian food. Good restaurant to satiate ur hunger after an exhausting shopping.
Abhik Ghosh
Super tasty vegetarian food in pocket friendly budget. Service is good enough as you get the food cooked in faster pace. Try the south indian delicacies without fail. Well didn't knew they had shifted to the adjacent/parallel lane, they need to improve the atmosphere, service pace in order to raise the bar. Missed the old woody's charm though!!

The place defines Nostalgia! 23 years and it still feels like the age old place i used to go to back when I was much younger! The rasam vada is a given! The dosa are brilliant. The veg cutlets are super yum! The bhel puri is authentic Bangalore style in preparation! The gobi munchoorian Toast is a winner in itself! The filter coffee are prepared just right with the right amount of sweetness, not excessively sweet indeed! Love this place and it's a must visit while on commercial Street!

Woody's is located on the commercial Street. The place has 2 outlets and both are nearby each other. During our visit one store was under renovation and other store was open so the person incharge showed us the way for 2nd shop. The place is famous for South Indian cuisine but i could see various people ordering Chinese and North indian food. We ordered uttapam, dosa, idlis, butter milk and bisi bele bhat. Everything was very good in taste . The sambhar was not sweet and tarty it was very good. The place has 2 floors . Only self service policy is there for both the floors. Sitting capacity is ample if considered both the floors. The prices are on the higher end as the place is located on the commercial Street itself. Overall a very good experience. Keep smiling :)

The one goto place for having food after shopping in commercial street. This restaurant has been in operation for a very long time since my mom was in college. They are famous for their special madur vada which is a must try. On the side you can have juices or fresh lime soda. There are meals, chat and other options available too. But madur vada is a must try. Must visit if in commercial street.

It is a great place to have lunch when you are tired of shopping at Commercial street. It has self service but orders are ready to pick in no time. 5 star to service. Food quality was good. Tried North Indian meal and it was good which was rather unexpected. Overall one of the places I would like to go back whenever I am on commercial street.
Sahil Shekar
The OG place of commercial Street. My family has been visiting this place for over 20 years. Love the food , both quality and quantity. Many cuisines are available. The places is always crowded, and that's how much people love the place
Sukrit Debnath
Good place for a sunday morning breakfast ride/ drive. Popular among bikers and ideal for sunday leisure drive. Good crowd. Food was ok, definitely very costly as per quality and taste perspective. Ambient is super, with open cafeteria model and plenty of parking space. Its a go to place for a relax sunday morning away from city

Hello dear foodies how are you all...so planning for some good south Indian breakfast or lunch or a light south Indian dinner...no matter whatever your meal type/time is ..if you are at commercial street..and hungry after shopping just head to Woody's ...one among the great south Indian cuisine restaurant I liked in Bangalore...great food awesome ambience,.multi floor seating...good to go with family and friends...superb tasty food...dosa soft and less of oil served with red and green chutney along with sambhar and nariyal chutney..overall a great combination...rest other items too are great in taste ...it's a self service restaurant..excluaive restaurant.parking is not there as it is on main commercial street...so 4 wheeler you have to park at dedicated slots only....be it curd vada, crispy Mangalore bhajji , bisebele bath... everything here is of great taste..overall a great food and super experience...it's little expensive as compared to other south Indian darshini(restaurants,)...but worth a try...so next time if you are at commercial street do try Woody's...keep rocking keep eating...to know for more such places and great food experience in city...do follow me on Google local guide, Instagram, zomato and TripAdvisor..#ankurthefoodie

An authentic Karnataka style food with an ambience that will make you remember 19s. We ordered Butter masala dosa, cheese masala dosa, and coffee. We loved the food. Looks very clean and hygiene. As this is in the heart of commercial Street, prices are in the higher side.
Hariharan S
Very good hotel.Tasty food Reasonable price. Self service -Comfortable seat for eating. All th best to holtel .Thanks to staff and management. Recommended to taste.

Place had like 3 floors ... Service was fast.. probably cause of covid times... Food was fine.. tried the baby corn Manchurian and lav bhaji.. baby corn was nice . But less quantity.. for higher rates.. so was the pav bhaji
We had a lunch over woody's it was quite good we had a Northindian lunch it was good and bisibelebath, curd rice and veg fried rice it was all good .
I just loved the way they served and the Northindian thali was yum .
Worst service and experience. Don't go ever. Please avaoid.
Kunal Bhardwaj
pathetic manager in their ac restaurant
Sanjana Goswami
After every tiring shopping spree with my family, we somehow always end up at Woody's. Dont go by the ambience, as it is usually crowded and it also has a self service policy. The taste of the food is the actual highlight, although it is quite high on the price tag. If you want to try out some good food in commercial street I'd definitely recommend this place.
Debjani Mitra
Worst Service . Please improve ur service
Robinson John Moozhayil
Never in my life, I have seen such a fork in any of the restaurants, "anywhere" Pathetic service, never expected from Woody's
Shreshta Murthy
This place charges like an upscale place but everything else about this place is cheap. The food, the service, the dirty utensils. Please give this place a skip if you don't want to be dissappointed after a long tiring day of shopping in commercial street.
Mayuri Sidharth Gunjyal
I really love their food. I never forget to visit this place whenever I'm in commercial street. They have a wide variety of dishes to pick from. You can trust them for North Indian cuisine as well. If you are looking for something to drink go for filter coffee, trust me it's amazing. Fresh juices are expensive and not worth it. I think they can do a little better with their staff.
Nikhsnona
Had Ghee Roast Dosa and Filter coffee.
Could be more clean.
If you need quick bite while shopping all day can visit this place.
Filter coffee is good here.

Woody's at Commercial Street is one of the oldest living restaurants, it serves only veg food. Their ambience has a vibe of vintage and it reminded me of the 19th century Coffeehouses of England. The restaurant follows self service. After taking your order, you'll be issued a coupon and wait for your turn.

Woody's is famously known for their Masala Dosa and Burger.

The burger is perfectly sliced into 2 equal halves and a steamy hot Aloo (potato) patty is placed between the buns that's teamed with a slice of Onion, tomato and cucumber. The burger is topped with a slice of carrot that is pierced through a toothpick. The burger was no doubt, a delicious treat but what put me off was the French fries that was served alongside burger. It was soggy and salty and some of the very crunchy only at the corners.

The next thing I tried was their Spring roll. Perfectly cut rolls and chopped vegetables that look Instagram feed worthy when captured in a lens, the pictures don't do justice to the taste of it. Yet again, I found this soggy and it was bland. The chutney somehow was filled with pepper taste that quite didn't match well.
Akanksha Tripathi
Really disappointed with a place located at such a wonderful Location and not meeting up with the standards of good service/food. The food can be so much better.
Argha Dutta
I've got very authentic South Indian dishes over here. Good place to visit. One the best nostalgic place I've ever seen. Till now they have maintained those wooden set up. Staffs are also good and behavior is too polite. It's a must visit place.
Akshay Jain
Nice cafe.....i Ordered Veg Cutlet, Bhel Puri, Mango Juice......veg cutlet was small and bhel puri was awesome.... Overall nice Experience....i will visit again
Kamei

Had a tiring day at commercial street, so I headed to this place to refill my lost energy. This place is always in demand and you will never find it empty! Even with the huge crowd we mananged to find a table and decided to have chat! So this place offers self service. We ordered different types of chats like masala puri, shevpuri, raj kachori, papdi chat and everything tasted great! The place is clean, and the food was ready pretty quickly. Ambience could have been better.
Shivani
Placed at the main road of the shopping hub of bengaluru , it offers both self service and Ac service option, the ambience is fine ..The fried rice and fried and noodles was our first choice which was more bland but tasted well with ketchup, the Woody's special biriyani which was filled with paneer kaju which tasted really well. The dishes are a bit overpriced for quantity but can't expect less in that street:)
Tejonidhi Paul S
Cochroaches everywhere in the kitchen, dirty plates and glasses, unfriendly staff. Terrible hygiene. Hair in the food. This is an old place on Commercial, but they have failed miserably to maintain standards.
Emily JustEm
What you see is what you get here, clean, cheap reasonably tasty food. Vegetable bugger, icecream and drinks are all good, service is fairly quick. Would recommend!
Syed Zafir
A legendary place in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the commercial Street. This place will take you back in time with its pre independence interiors and pictures of old Bangalore from the same era. The food is very simple yet authentic. This is a place to have a nice South Indian meal with a piping hot cup of frothy filter coffee. One of the best cups of coffee in Bangalore!
Anusha Prasad
I went to this place only because I didn’t had any option at commercial.
Not a good place .. not good food either.
After my first time I never visited this place.
Balasubrahmanya Bhat
I seriously think that the food items are overpriced. The location makes the difference! South Indian delicacies like vada, dosa etc tasted good.. I also tasted cheese & paneer pav bhaji, which was yummy.. Coffee was strong and nice..
Kiran KU
The coffee, tea and the pongal were cold by the time it was served to us and the AC was not switched on until requested. Not so happy with the service provided
Tasvi Sarvaiya
The worst restaurant ever! They have very low quality food as well as quantity!
We ordered one plate pav bhaji and it wouldn’t even be one person’s meal. Bhaji was tasteless and it wasn’t even enough for 2 pavs to finish. When asked for refill, the staff behaved very badly.
Mango milk shake was made with artificial essence that too when mango is available currently.
If they can’t provide real food, why do they even charge this much of money at first place.

Never visiting again!
Sonia Kakodkar
I've had numerous breakfasts, coffees, snack breaks at this place over a decade. It's not as bad as the other ratings suggest.
It's an age old establishment and the service is also like that. Do not go in expecting 5 star treatment. The staff is not impolite. The place is crowded and they just do not have time for the niceties demanded by our modern world. They just want to get you your food and then clear the table for the next set of people. Could they be more courteous, sure! But if you're going here for the ambience, boy, are you lost and how.
The food is decent. Nothing is to die for. If you're in the area and need to take a coffee and snack break, the idli, dosas and bajjis won't disappoint.
Kim Coyne
Do not go here. You'll starve to death before your food arrives. Waited an hour for a mini meal. Pathetic service and severely understaffed.
Lokesh Sadhana
So pathetic!!
Serive is horrible..
The guy who took our order didn't even responded properly , we have waited more than 1.5hr to give order itself !!
Please avoid this place if your in commerical street !!
Ratika & Richa
After a lovely lunch at Thai restaurant, we went street hopping, MG road & Commercial Street.
After lovely shopping & fun, we landed in front of a South Indian food paradise named Woody’s, super crowded place, serving authentic South Indian dishes along with all chaat, North Indian & Chinese food.
We chose to sit in the ac hall to get some comfort after a hectic day.
We ordered for
Idli Kadubu (barrel shaped Idli)
Sambhar Vada
Mysore Masala Dosa
Bisibelebath
&
Plain cheese Dosa for mini chef Tanay 👨‍🍳
This Idli Kadubu was softest Idli we ever had, everything served with 3 types of chutney & Sambhar.
We devoured every bite oozing with flavors.
God has been very kind with us, every bite we have been having these days, has been blessed like Prasadam.
Bisibelebath was had little overpowering spices but delish.
We were astonished when we saw the bill, hardly ₹539/- including taxes 🤷🏻‍♀️
Not to mention, lovely mouth freshener accompanied the bill.
This place will be a must visit in all our Bangalore trips.
Keep rocking!
Rahul M
Pathetic food. CHIENESE food has kadhi patta .. noodles was like yuck .. high price with no taste ... Staff too rude .. never waste your money here ...
Shaoor Ruknuddin
One of the oldest and famous veg restaurant of commercial street, they serve delicious snacks, gulabjamoon is too yummy, best place to have snacks when you go shopping at commercial street.
Ikksheta
If there was a lower rating, I would have given that!
The management runs the place poorly. Food is not served on time. Food quality is also poor. The waiter was also rude.
Anukriti Sinha
Ahhh I have so many memories here .. but the quality of food and service has detoriated drastically. We ordered Gobhi manchurian , fried rice, masala dosa and watermelon and mausumbi juice. The juice was priced at 96 rupees and was 96% water ... so that was a waste of money. The Gobhi manchurian was abysmal. I have never eaten something so rubbery in my life !! Dosa was the only decent thing .
Vishwas Kamat
The food is good but the service is pathetic. The service manager lost his cool and guess he can't handle the rush. Seen offering him a previous table order to another table as they had left ! Some people can ruin the brand and he is one among them
Shruthi Neelamegam
I really don't know why this place has only 2.5 stars on Zomato. We always go to this place after fulfilling our shopping desires at commercial Street. Went here recently two days back. My favourite is always the masala dosa or the bisibelabath 😋 Both these items here wont disappoint you anyday! 😃
Stephen Verghese
Everytime we are in commercial street we ensure we visit Woodys, yesterday we ordered Channa Batura, papdi chaat, Bhel puri, Tiiki chaat and dahi vada, all the chaats and the dahi vada were pathetic will not order them again, it appeared as though the chaats were prepared caraelessly the Channa Batura was ok will order again , the service has dropped considerably, we had to wait 10 mins after we finished eating for the filter coffee and masala tea, Woodys please get your act together and lift your standards
Pink Ribbon
Everytime we walked by this restaurant it always seemed to call out. So walk in we did. After two Kaapis (for me) and samosas and a Chole Bature later, I decided I was going back for more. The seating is ample - on barstools, sit down tables and in the air-conditioned restaurant; it's clean but something like a Chole Bature took us forever to get. The choice of chutneys available are extensive.
All in all, fun!
Parvathi Gopinath
Found a coakroach inside the Pongal I ordered for my daughter. They were apologetic and were trying hard to coverup the issue in front of other customers. I too didn't want to create a scene and they gave me veg meal as replacement for the Pongal. But the nasty behaviour of the management showed up only when they came running behind us telling that I haven't paid for the veg meal humiliating us in front of all the customers. So when my face changed he started apologizing again and told that his manager who had left already had instructed him to collect the money. It was such a disappointing behaviour from the staff and management of the much celebrated vegetarian hotel in Bangalore.

Woody's is one of the oldest restaurants in Commercial Street. They serve all kinds of Vegetarian cuisine.
Shop till you drop in commercial street and head to Woodys to rest your feet and satisfy your hunger.
Woodys is always, always crowded hence be prepared to wait without loosing patience.
Self service is good as they do serve food quickly and the billing guy is quick too.
Ample space to sit once you get food in your hand. Self service works on token system and sometimes they just shout out the order.
I have had masala Dosa, coffee, biryani, paratha, fried rice... Etc. The food is good but not exceptional.
As i mentioned its a place to grab a bite after shopping and i would definitely recommend to my fellow reviewers.
There is also service in first floor.
Mihir Vasishta
Woddy’s was one of the best restaurants in bangalore but now its really bad. Very slow service, bad food and not worth the price. Recommend not to try unless you have no other option.
Food Lover
After shopping our food craving took us to Woody's restaurant we wanted to try South Indian snacks... We ordered ragi dosai uttham , udin vada and pav bhaji and tasted yummy .. though it was self service outlet but the service was outstanding the waiter picked up the dishes and served to our table and moreover we are regular to this outlet from the time it's opened and they have mantained the same from day one..
Sailesh Agarwal
Non sense food.. no taste. Expensive. Attitude by waiters. Only location advantage. My advice if you don't get any other options at commercial street then don't eat but don't try this place.
Zinal Shah
We ordered Vegetable Biryani.. It's Less in Quantity Also..not up to the core Taste.. Price is Too High Rather than the Quantity Of Food Being served.. Please If you taking more Price in less Quantity that's not Good actually....!!!!
Shriya Nair
Had ordered Pav bhaji, dahi puri and pano puri. All of it were good. My friends and I had a good time. The service was quick and it located on the Main Street in Commercial.
Harshita R S
This place is the definition of 'all eye candy; no soul food'. Zillions of options - all overly priced owing to its advantage of being located on a busy street, because... hey! people are gonna visit anyway. Half of the things I ordered weren't available and the rest half though with impressive presentation, lacked in taste. We tried to order Manguluru Goli Baje and Veg pulav - and they weren't available. So we settled for Rava Masala Dosa, Veg Schezwan rice, Sev Puri and Cold coffee. The dosa wasn't cooked properly. The rice was just a combinatorial toss of two-days-old-rice and some dried vegetables. The cold coffee and sev puri were the only okay-this-is-better kinda choices. Overall a disappointing experience and I am pretty positive I am definitely NOT going to visit this place, again.
Anitha Narayana Reddy
Bad food and service.Visited this place for lunch along with my parents..Not even one item was good in Thali..Customers in other tables were also complaining about the quality n taste of food..Utter waste of money..It’s high time they change their chefs..
ABHISHEK
The restaurant is located in busy commercial street ... they have self service and table service facilities as well ... I had masala dosa paisa vasool...excellent food a different kind of ambiance loved it
Aishwarya Deshpande
I had ordered veg Hakka noodles and cream of mushroom soup. I was hoping to get a very good taste as the ambience is very nice and peaceful. But, the soup was not at all tasty so was the noodles. The oil that was used to prepare the noodles was very old and smelly and the vegetables were not at all fresh and the soup was not at all hot and was the worst taste ever. The only good thing is the ambience to an extent.
Anu Sigin
The worst food worst service...had the worst lunch...had to wait almost half an hour... ordered a thali...250 Rs.. hardly anything in it...a very small bowl of rice...we asked for a second serving they charged 50rs.. curd was literally stinking.... nobody to even address this issue
Sanjana
Awful service - we literally had to get our of our seats to followup for water and the food we ordered; they also force you into buying bottled water. I neither my family would recommend this place
Utkrist Shrestha
The worst and over priced place in Bangalore. They charge triple the price and no service. Come here if you are very rich... Such a waste place !
Sheetal Jadhav
They have nice South Indian food. It's on main commercial street. Always crowed. They have self service as well as service at the table.
Overall
Ambiance 3
Food 3
Value for money 3

Parking is a big challenge here.
Ritochit Barua
Most horrible experience. We were a group of 7 people, all hungry and thirsty. It was a major challenge finding a decent place to sit here considering we were 7 persons and the tables were all dirty. The staff couldn't be any less bothered, when I asked to speak to the manager, he was nowhere to be found. Over crowded and overpriced, this place is not worth your time or money. Sorry.
Sadaf Abdul Gaffar
I would have definitely put a friendly soft review .... if my experience was good one .... rude ,unfriendly, worst staff ... we had to ask for ketchup when they served cutlet ... asked for cold water but he gave us room temp.... when asked to change it took around 10mins to do so... no spoon with the food ... and when asked for something staff becomes angry the guy named Arun who was taking Order was arrogant to hieghts.... food was good but is his is the service would never come again or recommend anyone ..
Purnima Dn
An amazing south Indian restaurant at commercial Street, Bangalore. Hailing from the coastal Karnataka, this place offers amazing coastal food like Mangalore Buns, pathrode, kotte idli and others.
Rags
The restaurant is located in the one of the busy street of th banglore..I had cheese masala dosa...The hotel is well known for its breakfast and snacks recipes...the coffee is very strong and amazing..
Supriya Thakur
Disgusting service and even bad food. Since their is no option to have food in commercial street we have to go to this place. The waiters have no courteousness towards customers. Service time is horrible. I ordered fried rice, it was like some left over food. Waiters can even ask your food back if they want.
Akhila
Was very disappointed with woody’s .. bad food , dirty plates and highly priced . The only reason I believe this place still exists is because of the location .. wouldn’t return to this place again
Supriya Naik
Made a visit here and was surely not disappointed.Treated ourselves to their delicious masala dosa, maddur vada, filter coffee.
Do try their uttapams!!
Abhijith V
Not at all a good experience .... normal food over priced.... staff are not attentive.... you order for something and expect what? You get everything pretty much cold food... and if u ask why you are bound to get a bad revert .... costly and never recommended.....
Mamoos C.n.
Yesterday had been for dinner.. the food was not tasty.. spring rolls was so bland.. and the paneer Hyderabadi don't ask.. 😫.. coffee is the only thing I loved the best.. it has lost his fame..
SENTINEL CHAZ CLASH OF CLANS SPECIALS
Really average and for the cost and taste you will never come again. My frnd got food poisoned and we have admitted him. Please don't enter very bad service.
Bharath Raj
Worst service EVER! We had to wait for a lot of time and they ran out of food and then, after a long time of waiting the food we ordered arrived and it wasn't even that good.
Susmitha Veganosaurus
When I was a kid, Woody’s used to be our family’s destination almost every weekend! I have many delicious memories of this place.

Visited for lunch today after what must be ages! The food and ambience were average.

I was upset to find that they’d put what looked like ghee on one side of the kadubu. That was completely unnecessary and unexpected. Why take a perfectly good vegan dish and make it non vegan?

Among everything we ordered, the tondekai palya in the thali was the tastiest. Next was the onion uttapam. But both were too oily so couldn’t eat too much. I also enjoyed the kootu in the thali by itself.
Vinay Sonu Sagar
Pathetic food i ever tasted. not at all recommended... poor quality n quantity...not at all worth...we get better quality food at a lesser price.... very much disappointing
Pranjali Deshpande
I am not going to write about their dosas and idlis, plenty of other reviews cover that.
I found a hidden gem here: Palak Khichadi. Now I sincerely hope and pray that the deep green color of the khichdi was the result of using real Palak leaves and not some edible paint from a tube.
Because I loved this dish. It is the ultimate comfort food but khichdis are not found on most “fast food” menus as technically they are not a snack and people have relegated khichdi to convalescence food. No sir, a khichdi well done can soothe the hungriest of souls after a tortuous day of walking the by-lanes of Commercial Street for that perfect saree that you’re sure you will wear “every time the occasion demands”. But anyway, coming back to the spinach khichdi at Woody’s.
It’s marvellous, and so piping hot you are guaranteed to burn your mouth and lose a few thousand taste buds in the process.
But it’s good. The flavour is sublime, and it’s very light on the tummy.
The only missing ingredient?
A bowl of curd to dilute the intensity of the temperature of the food. But you can order that separately off the menu.
Any other star rice dishes ? The bissi belle Bhath I tried had a ton of spice but no vegetables and the spices had killed the underlying ingredients. Skip it and play it safe with this heavenly khichdi. I wish more places had this on their menu.
Surbhi Goel
Went there for quick snack. Had aloo tikki which was served with matar. Taste was quite average. Not bad. Coffee was little cold.
But the main drawback was their service.
Price was higher considering their quality and service.
Swathi Br Gowda
food was very bad that,I wish I had less than a star to rate. All the orders never tasted like what it had to .seemed like they had no interest in running the hotel anymore.
Radhika Vinod Kumar
Made the mistake of visiting their outlet on the road parallel to commercial street, that place genuinely needs to improve everything from food to service. This one on the other hand, one of commercial's landmarks has never really disappointed. Over the years, the prices have shot up with a drop in the taste and quantities as well but overall it's still a place you can drop in, to grab a bite.
Vijaya
Had been to this place 3 years ago.Went there again last week.Went there for lunch after shopping.Ordered curd rice and peas pulav. Both tasted decent.Did not dislike anything about the place.
Sachin Muddappa
Had been today for a evening break

Ordered for Chats and Madur Vada. The Madur Vada was out of shape like amoeba. When ordering I asked the person at the counter and he also laughed. I told him it doesn’t look at an angle like Madur Vada.

The taste was also very bad. Woody’S is a traditional place. It’s a place where we take our this generation and show them how it was during those days. The taste should be an example for other restaurants.

Kindly improve.

Rest all were good like Coffee ☕️ and Chats.
Anitha Nallasivam
Worst food ever ... we ordered veg briyani but it end up in plate as worst piece of food ... no one believe it as briyani ever and lot of food colouring ... Sampath Kumar
Niranjan Nair
Woody's has always been a go-to option while visiting Commercial street. Cheese masala dosa is really good. The side chutneys and sambar are really good too. Crowded most of the time, but self service works pretty fast.
Puja Majumder
In short, good quick when you really want to shop around right on Commercial Street.
Starting with nice coffee, followed up with holige, dahi puri n cashew onion pakora, it was good.
Jayawant Tewari
Filthy. From the unwashed spoons with sticky food residue, the grimy plates and the general feeling of being in a crowded railway station. For the number of people who visit this place, one would expect a decent level of hygiene. NEVER coming here again.
Abhay Chandel
It is a great place to have lunch when you are tired of shopping at Commercial street. It has self service but orders are ready to pick in no time. 5 star to service. Food quality was good. Tried North Indian meal and it was good which was rather unexpected. Overall one of the places I would like to go back whenever I am on commercial street.
Abhishek
Been to this place while I was there for shopping on Sunday evening with my family.
We thought of having dosa and decided for this place.
This place is self service as well as ac dining hall with service. We went to self service section. Despite being at such a busy market place, there was not much crowd and people came for quick bite only.
We ordered butter masala dosa, ragi masala dosa, plain dosa and onion uttapam. Dosa's were not upto expectation and it's not crispy also. Onion uttapam is also not best one and its okayish. Sambhar was average.
So overall food is okay. Ambience is also okay as it's not fine dining. Service is good as after placing order, it was ready in 5 minute.
This place is only good for quick bite to feed oneself after getting tired from shopping. There are also couple of other options available on Commercial Street like Anand's Sweet, Burger King, KFC, McD, etc.
Nithin Harindranath
A cup of tea takes more than 30 minutes to be served !!! We are sitting right here at the outlet, still waiting for 2 cups of tea. The Day's special- green chilly pakoda- is the worst ever !! My mom normally doesn't fuss about food, but even she wasted the pakodas . Either keep more cooks or more waiters with a slightly better customer service attitude. Please avoid this unreasonably expensive place !!
Spoorthi
Oldest place and every Bangalorians choice on the commercial street.
It's always crowded and yes it's pricey, but since there's no other good eatery close by the charges are bearable.
On my recent visit to this place I tried Masala soda and aloo tikki chat.
Masala does was good, crispy and tasty.
Aloo tikki was not fried well, chat as a whole tasted average.
Prashant Zingade
Visited this place yesterday to eat something after a long day. Worst restaurant I have ever come across.Food quality is pathetic .Ordered mushroom with cashew ..got fried corn instead..it was not fried properly or stale food of many days .it had become hard like rubber.when shown to the manager he said it was mushroom. He did not even accept that it was hard when he himself could not smash with his fingers..very rude adamant behaviour. There definitely has to be food inspection done on this restaurant for serving below sub standard food quality at exorbitant prices.Must avoid.
Asutosh Dash
Classic Bengaluru's restaurant, most of the time it's crowded at evening. I tried Rava Dosa, Poori and veg kurma. Taste and cost wise it's very good. Tea and coffee r good also.
Aarti Mansukhani
This place has been the go to “when ur hungry after shopping” since years, being one of the oldest restaurants in Commercial Street. Cauliflower Mushrooms baked are the best here. Service and ambience is average.

- This place used to be the Savior amidst the Super Crowded Commercial Street
- I used to enjoy the Food and the ambiance until recently

Some of the Foods that I've tried are
- Madhur Vade
- Goli Baje
- Uddina Vade
- Dosas

- Some of my Recent experiences have been bitter
- The Madhur Vade was so dry that, it was difficult to swallow
- The Goli Baje was cold and rock hard etc
- Not to forget, food seems to be over priced here.

Thank you,
Anvitha K

The place is disgusting. The rates nowhere match with the quality. They charge 110 for pav bhaji, comprises of 2 small pav(less than quarter of main portions). Even Dosas are not good. Not recommended at all.

Since it was right near the commercial street we ended walking in on a busy saturday. We ordered for cutlet and sandwiches and juice. Since it's self-service, we had a terrible time. The staff seemed uninterested to pay attention to customers . The sandwiches served were very bad and not tasty at all, yet the menu was priced high. The last place you should go when around commercial street. Happy hunting :)

Pathetic service at snails pace and poor food quality

Avoid visiting here

They took 30 minutes to take order and one hour to deliver that too cold food.

Touted as one of the best, longest-standing eateries in Commercial Street, Woody's provides an experience that lives up to that image.

There are three dining sections here - one downstairs, and two upstairs.
The downstairs section has a sort of joint seating where the tables are all more or less joined to each other. Situated right next to the display stacks and cash counter, you can dine here if you are in a hurry and just need a quick bite or two.
For a more relaxed meal, head up the quaint and fascinating stairway (in pics) to dine in an area that's envokes old-world charm, or in an A/C area.

The food is good.
Maddur Vada, recommended by a friend as a must-eat in Bangalore, was something I was initially skeptical about, since I am not a big fan of vadas. This one, however - oh! From the layers upon layers with which it was baked/fried, to the flaky, crisp-yet-mushy consistency of the piece, I soon found out I couldn't have enough of it.
Apart from that, the Masala Dosa, and South-Indian meals, were also good.

Don't bother to come here!!! Rather stay hungry!!!

Once an iconic place, the food has completely gone down the drain!!!

Ordered basic idly vada and the sambhar and chutney we're the worst you can ever have!!! Thick like a thick shake and absolutely tasteless!!!

I would rather throw the money down the drain rather than having food again here!!!

I don’t understand how these guys are surviving in Commercial Street, food is not up to the mark n cost is too much.
Taste -2.5/5
Ambience-2/5
Cleanliness-3/5
Value for money 1.5/5

The place talks so much about tradition and history and fails miserably all over with food.

Yes you can be a average place when you have so much commercial visibility but to stuff sandwich with Dosa masala is absolutely not acceptable.

Food is plain bad and it could have been so much better if just basic taste was taken care rather than being authentic. With so much crowd at your doorstep a little shift in quality can do wonders.

Hoping for a change.

Quite good.
Tried stuffed paratha which was yummy.

But the basic curd rice tasted too bad, below average.

Dosas are good.
Ambience is good with speedy service in spite of the crowd during busy hours.
Self service and bad food
But to get sit during those utter tired shopping days is bliss.
Woody's would always be crowded and would always pull you in just for that water bottle and cold drink at least.

Not a fan of the place but quite a savior it is.

Oldest and the best hotel during my college days. It used to be a pride if you entering Woody’s. At their best in South Indian and ambience.

Now let me talk reality, It is really worst in everything and in all possible ways. No value for money and please change your head chef to keep up your Brand. This way of foo quality you will use your old and regular customers.

Advice to management please work on having an exclusive South Indian cuisine as ur not good in serving North Indian cuisine.

Hope to see some betterment in future, again not sure if I’ll visit again.
This is a badly priced, not worthy, filthy restaurant. Please don't go here. The prices are sky rocketing... The quality of food is a big thumbs down moreover ... It is a self service.... I wish I could give them a negative rating
