Review Chowmein - Bengaluru

I’m seeing this Food joint in Kumara Park Sheshadripuram area since 6-7 years Earlier their outlet was bit small now they have shifted to neighbouring property which is decent and ample seating area Pros Cost is reasonable for the quantity they serve & cleanliness & ambience they maintain Food is not so greezy and oily Service is quick Must try items are soups which as their own blend and triple fried rice and panner items They have their own parking space for 2 wheelers Cons Taste can be improved with little more spicy Overall an must try for food lovers

Good food, qty is for two. Till April 1st offer is there most of the items are at 100 Tried egg fried rice , triple noodles and roti varieties are there. A nice place and also very near to office.

Very nice place to have very good and authentic Chinese food!! Love this place!! The interiors are just fine and doesn't appear like a Chinese restaurant though!! But just does it's job of feeding you excellent food!! They do have Indian cuisine as well which is also impressive and now they have introduced Italian which is also up to the mark!! The prices are a little bit on the higher side considering the place but the food will definitely make you forget the price you are paying!! So enjoy your food and happy dining 😁😀

Food here is finger-licking good. This place was really popular 10-15 years back. After reopening again, they have come back with a bang. They have variety of veg and non-veg choices. Their Chinese is just yum!!!! Must try - Shredded potato, veg momo and honey potato. Their noodles and fried rice are also amazing!!!! Currently they have only take away and no dine in. They are situated in Kumara Park West and they deliver anything within 3 kms free of cost. They also take orders via WhatsApp. Must try!!!!

Great place for quick bites, or a scrumptious meal. They have great vegetarian options. The food is very tasty. It was one of the first restaurants to provide a Table to place an order! They serve large quantities of main course so the food enough for two people.

This restaurant has got a face lift recently. But, the prices have also gone up, now the range is Rs.180 to 250 for each dish. Quality of food is decent. Now they serve Chinese as well as Indian dishes.
Sujith Susheelan
The portions sizes are good, the food is not too greasy. The fish tank is a great draw. They make for splendid company while eating.

Revamped and made better. Easy on the pocket. Quick meal. Edible Indianized Chinese food. My colleagues love their chicken dishes. 100 Rs for most dishes on the menu until April

We came here in the June of 2019 The complains about the service, well I can't say they were false but yeah for my family service was quick. The food was fabulous but a little too salty. If you want fast service, I suggest you to go around 7.30pm Anything in the chilli series (we ordered Chilli chicken) is a must try
Rajesh Sampath
Pretty good Chinese food. Haven't tried North Indian dishes here. It's value for money. The seating is a bit dingy. Good for a quick lunch, not for an extended hangout.
Sachinda Boro
This place is nice even if you're a vegetarian or non vegetarian. They have varities of options available for both veg and non veg. They have a very huge aquarium with many fish inside it, so you can go there with your children and they can play with the fish. The menu is displayed in a tab and you've to select the food item there in the tab only . So if you're not familiar with technology then this might be a problem but no worries you can ask the Waiter to help you with that

Food is tasty and tastes are Consistent !

Chowmein has been a favourite from time immemorial. It has never ditched us.. Be it the ambience or the food. Surprisingly they are experts at all sorts of cuisine.. Be it the Thai.. Indo Chinese or the north Indian. Also the prices are very affordable compared to other restaurants whose taste comes no where close to Chowmein. A Chowmein fan ,, always!
Sham H Jaisingh
The place and food was nice but the service is slow and it's not the issue with the staff it's the management. They should realize that the place and the food Quality has a Wonderful scope to do wonders. They just have to increase the number of staff.
Arvind Nair
Food is prepared and served fresh. I don't think they have any frozen meat because its so tender and delicious. A great place for a relaxed casual dining
Kishan Kallianpur
Good food. Honey chilli chicken is very good. Nicely flavoured.. Red thai curry was not all that good. But ya worth a try.depends on ones pallet.. quick service.. good place all in all..

I cannot stop raving about the food here, a very regular customer for over 4 years now and I can go back again n again for their honey chilli chicken, lemon pepper paneer, Chinese bhel, basil chicken and a lot more!

This time tried the lemon pepper chicken and chilli garlic chicken noodles along with honey chilli chicken which I wouldn’t miss for the world!

This would be my anyday favourite place for Indian Chinese cuisine !

The only think I feel that’s incomplete is the dessert list! Wish they have some desserts on the menu!
Manaswini Bhat
Visited last night, the place was pretty much empty. Ordered 3 main course and 2 starters. We were regulars here as college students an year ago. Now the biggest difference is pretentious tabs which take your orders, and horribly tiny portion sizes ! The starter couldn't even be split in 2 as decent portion.
Very disappointed by hiked up prices and horrible portion sizes . To comment about the taste, well we hardly got any
Hakshetha Rajasekar
I tried Garlic Chicken, Triple Chicken Fried rice and Manchow soup! They were a perfect combo... juciness of the tender chicken in the garlicy sauce... Saltiness and spiciness of the fried rice and the soup! I loved it
Dharma Tej
The ambience was ok ok and the place was soo empty. The AC wasn't switched on and we had to sweat. Ordered Schezwan fried rice and chilli garlic noodles. Both tasted bland. The menu was also pricey. Not going back to this place again.
Sushritha Sridhar
Horrible place horrible service horrible food. Staff are very rude. There is no 0 star hence giving 1. Staff are not courteous at all and behave as if we come here begging for food. Totally unworthy. Never ever am I coming here.
Naini Agarwal
Bad service. We ordered Chinese bhel and waited for 1 hour. Still the item was not served. Also the staff was not polite and wanted me to wait further if I was willing to eat there.
Janani Rai
Had been to this place to celebrate a friends birthday quiet average place.. food being average.... A lot of delay in service veg starters ver served 40 mins after order imcluding the fries... vch was very dissapointing. Had also wait for the bill for 15 min after being asked for it... when the place was not realy crowded... their branch in basaweshwar nagar is far better than this.
Naveen K.n Naveen K.n
Worst service ever had in my life no people care for customer n at least keep you staff in proper manner more over they had billed me 400 rs extra n later after telling them they refunded cash back I really recommend people not visit this place.....
Joe
Well it's a small place for good Chinese...not meant for ambience..but the food here is amazing! Love the starters here like Hunan chicken, crispy honey chilly chicken, Chinese bhel, paneer chilly etc..great food.. crispy honey chilly chicken was fabulous with a sweet tinge due to honey and was deep fried.. Hunan is always great pick among the Chinese..this was well made too..spicy! Loved it!

This is like an old friend who's always der around but u take them for granted. I've been here many times just becoz it's the safest bet anytime and an all time favourite of my boyfriend. The food here is true to both taste and portions. Though itz become a bit pricy after the relocation of the restaurant.. No loyal customer would leave coming here just for hike in prices. The place is not much to talk about coz except a huge vertical aquarium in-between. Not much is invested in terms of ambience but it's decent and clean. The menu would be an iPad.. So don't be surprised... But be careful with the tapping! We just love eating any fried rice here with varies starters. Even Indian food is equally good here but I prefer Thai anyday. Enjoy your food here but don't expect too much in terms of drinks or desserts coz der are hardly any options in them. If you really hungry and just crave for proper Chinese food to fill your stomach full... Head straight here and you will keep coming back for more... bon appetit!

I have been visiting this restaurant since the past few years and finally I have decided review it. In my opinion you get the best Chinese food here! Love their soups,Dim sums, noodles. These three are my common food I have here..
I would have rated this place 5,but rating it 4 due to the extremely slow service here.

I ordered chicken fried rice and it came like egg fried rice with few tiny chicken pieces top up. The taste is just okay, nothing like their slogan on cover "taste the difference"
Pilla Prathyusha
yeah the food was good. But a lemon and onion are so necessary things especially for a biryani. If it is added it would be awesome.Just loved it.
Arijit Datta
Average food with below average service. The staff don't bother to reply to anything asked. You have to choose and place your own order in their system without any assistance. Unclean cutlery, overpriced food. Not worth the money spent.
Ordered chilli chicken noodles.

Located in railway parallel road, mostly the hotel from outside does not catch the attention while driving . Finally decided to stop and try. Ordered veg starters and main course , it was good and tasty to my surprise 😀. Service was on time too. Overall would recommend if you like Chinese cuisine. Would prefer to order dishes what you know or check on what is it n contains n then order.. since they have too many things on the menu 😂

They had billed thumbs up but they did not deliver

the momos weren’t steamed properly and the staff wasn’t ready to accept.. the starters had huge amount of oil floating. Not a pleasant experience!

Diwakar1894
The food was terrible. I have got stomach infection due to the food. I called the restaurant people to notify the same. But they were rude. I ordered the staple combo from a chinese restaurant a hakka noodle and a chilli chicken. Firstly its expensive than other restaurants in the same city and secondly I couldn’t finish the food. It was that bad. And now im down with a stomach infection. Its been 2 days with it. I think they should close down the restaurant.
Hamrish Nath

It’s an amazing place with good Chinese food. When it comes to Ambiance is also equally appropriated . There is a saying one should not try any other cuisines in Chinese restaurant if they offer other cuisines in the same place but Chowmein is contrast to it ,Chowmein is just not like another Chinese restaurants which serve only good Chinese food but every bad in Other cuisines .Chowmein is a place for both the cuisines it is also pocket friendly .
An average place for a decent meal although one has to be careful choosing veg dishes. Even though items are listed under Veg category, few of them have non veg sauce in the ingredients.

Noodle were taste great but starters were average
Urmil..
Very ordinary place with ordinary taste ....they r kind of having food festival till 15 March ,so
Soups , chicken dish n rice items are all for 100/- but fish items are at regular price which is much expensive than the one in their old menu.
We ordered fish manchurian that was 370/-
What you are seeing on Zomato is an old menu with old pricing.
Interiors are bright and minimalistic with a huge fish tank In the centre which is kind of soothing.

the place seemed to have been moved next door. earlier it was a bit expensive to eat here. now, they have changed their system completely. you get a tablet to order and whatever you order, the price is only rs. 100. soups, Indian, Thai, Chinese every dish is very reasonably priced. having said that, don't think that the quantities would be less. the quantities are brilliant. for rs 100. I got a huge bowl of soup with lots of meat in it. I have got a huge bowl of rice which I alone could not complete. the starter, however, is medium serving. the taste is very good. i could not believe that you can still get food at those prices in this part of the city! above all this, i expected them to charge tax. again, there was no tax at all.

the only drawback here is the water. you need to buy bottled water only. again, it is only rs 20 a liter but it would have been great if there was RO water. i have ordered a Thai soup, Thai rice and a Chinese starter and a bottle of water. the total bill came to rs. 320. it was very difficult for me to finish everything as the portions were huge. 2 people could have that meal and still feel full.
Shreyas Laddu
Pocket friendly place. Anything u buy is ₹100 taste is Amazing. We ordered veg soup, we forgot to mention that we don't want mushrooms. They told they can't do anything after it was served, we sent it back. They bought the same soup removing the mushrooms after something telling that they have replaced the soup. We found 2 mushrooms in that. This is not what you expect. Very crowded and not enough place would be available to accommodate everyone hence wait time is high. Food preparation time is also quite long hence you have to order and wait for the food. Food is well cooked and wide variety of dishes are available. All items are not too spicy should request before ordering if you want it to be spicy
The place revamped with bright Interiors and more. It’s moved to the neighbouring building.
Much much better than the pervious one.

Soup:
We ordered the Sweet Corn Soup, Mushroom Soup and Veg Clear Soup. All of them were brilliant. No complaints here.

Main Course:
Both the Garlic Noodles and Vegetables In Garlic sauce were fantastic.

Dessert:
Loved their browny.

Service/Hospitality:
The staff is quite friendly. The service is quick.

Overall a great experience.
Sometimes everything is not about the fancy decorations or over rated restaurants. Come here for economical Chinese food with good taste. The restaurant seems to be in a garage with a mini tank of golden fishes. They serve on time with good quality.
Chinese Bhel is a must try.
Shruti Bengani
They say best things come in small packages - that's exactly what this place is.
Great food for great prices. Ive tried the soups, starters, gravy, rice, noodles and the rotis.. and every one of them makes your belly happy. The service can be a little slow at times though.
But all in all, a great place for a pocket friendly, yummy meal.

Hey guys, so this is a restaurant which we had been to recently for dinner, it was not planned at all ,was just craving to eat some good Chinese food and we went to this place . This place is located at railway parallel road.

This Restaurant named as Chowmein has all types of Chinese , Thai and North Indian food. But we would suggest you to try all the Chinese starters which was yummy and Mouth-watering and few selected Thai dishes.

And the quantity they serve is also quite allot. Our recommendation would be that you all must try the Chinese food there its absolutely amazing. The food is just too good and its not the typical kind of Chinese food. Because they have added Indian flavours to it, which was an add on. So Chinese food is everyones favourite and when it is been matched to the Indian palettes what more do we need?

We started our dinner with a hot man chow soup which was a great start for the weather outside. The soup was made really well with the finely chopped coriander and chillies added extra flavours to the soup which touched our soul. Like seriously who wouldn’t want to drink a spicy hot manchow soup for the cold weather outside.?And then we moved on to the starters which were lemon paneer, mushroom manchurian on veg which was the best starter by far, the paneer was so soft and tender and the mushroom manchurian chilly was such a bliss. And we also had some non veg starters which were fish manchurian (basa fish)and Lifu Chicken which was also equally good.

And then we ordered for lemon soda after tasting these many starters .Lemon soda was all normal and classic .And now moving on to the main course where we ordered for veg and non veg chopsuey which was served with mixed red sauce for veg and basa Chinese fish curry for non veg, next we had another dish which was veg steamed rice with Veg Green Thai Curry which was cooked with coconut milk and was too rich for dinner which contained a lot of veggies in it and the last dish for our main course was Chicken Schezwan noodles which was spicy and tasted really good, the chicken in the noodles was so well cooked and the taste was outstanding.

And finally we ended the dinner with some desserts which were the Blueberry Cheesecake and Death By Chocolate Cupcake.

The cheesecake had the perfect texture with the biscuit base and it tasted heavenly. Coming to the chocolate cupcake it was all time classic.

Like we started with the best and ended with the best.

Coming to the ambience its not that great its too basic and the lightings are also too dull. The place is not that impressive when it comes to the look.

But please don’t judge the place by its ambience or its entrance.

Taste - 9
Ambience - 7
Value For Money - 8
Service - 9
I was looking for a place to eat my fast track lunch today around Seshadripuram area. We crossed this place and instantly thought of making this our destination.....it's a very low key place with interiors equally low key primarily due to the illumination of the restaurant. It needs immediate attention. Schezwan fried rice and chicken manchurian gravy were served in hearty proportions and tasted reasonable.
They need to work on the oil usage which is excessive for Chinese cooking. My only picture of the place depicts it.
Overall, place can easily be uplifted for a good experience.
Food - 3
Ambience - 2.5
Quality- 3
Value for money - 3
Overall - 3

Come here occasionally from office to satiate cravings of Indian Chinese.
Most chicken dishes are good including shezwan rice, garlic chicken and chicken soups.
Time is average and waiters are attentive.
Good for ocasional Chinese treats

Awesome!! chicken noodles & overall good food 👌Keep it up 👍 I recommend this place for takeaway or having their...also. Good place for Chinese food lovers. Value for money 💰
Adarsh Sosale
The place has in general, below average food for a restaurant that is this expensive. The mushroom appetizers had excess salt and the Chop Suey was barely edible.
Nupur Jhawar
Have been to this place more than 3 times.. never disappointed me! Looks very shady but the food is tasty. Its typical indian chinese. Lot of spices and flavour of food is really nice.
I felt the chinese bhel was ver spicy but apart from that all the items were tasty. I loved the burnt garlic fried rice. What a flavour!!

Food-4/5
Service-4/5
Ambience-2/5
Price -4/5

Service is too slow. Ordered peking chicken n schwezwan fried rice, normal Chinese cuisine taste nothing great order 1 hr in advance.. decent food.

These guys are rockstars in serving yummmmmmmmmy Indo-Chinese dishes. Paneer is jus beyond this world, super delicious and soft.
Though the place is small, staff is friendly and well behaved.
Pallavi Gupta
Been to this place to curb my quick desi Chinese cravings. It's decent dhabha Chinese, oily and super spicy. U need to tell them to make it less spicy if that is an issue . The soups are decent, the chilly chicken is good but oily, the chopsuey is nice as well. Its a decent place to get a quick meal but plz don expect it to be authentic fine fine coz this isn't that place. It's a very home style outlet.

Good food. Nice ambience too. Location is pretty nice and cool. Food was not too expensive and had variety. Baby Coen manchurian tasty and crisp.

This place is located besides the railways parallel road. Have visited this place couple of times by now.
Food is just average.
Not consistent most times.
Chicken noodles and soups are pretty good.
Ambience not great
Good parking area.,
Pretty peaceful place.
Slow service.

If i ever think of any place to eat...chowmein pops up first...this place serves the most mouth watering and tummy filling delicacies ever...🍴

Had been here to place an order for takeaway. It's a small place with a few tables which probably won't accommodate more than 15 pax or so. Hence did not really miss out on the ambiance. But my friend raved bout the food here so I agreed to give it a try as we are all suckers for Chinese food. It didn't take too long and soon we were on our way back home all the time thinking bout the awesome dinner we were hoping to have :D

We immediately reached for the plates as soon as we were home. We were glad we ordered less as the portions are enough for two. We had ordered chilly paneer and veg schezwan fried rice. The paneer was soft, juicy and spiced well. A good attempt. But I wasn't too happy with the rice. I mean if the food looked that good then it should have all the right flavours. However, it was quite bland. N I just felt the food had way too much food colouring. Not sure if that's the case though.

It was an okay meal. Not inedible but could have been better. The pricing is reasonable with comparison to the quantity. Just a little attention should be given to the quality as well. Will probably visit if I am around this area again!

Decent place with normal food. Dint find anything over the top but its not bad either. Soups are pretty good. Indian food is average. But nice warm place

Nice place to have authentic Chinese. Good vegetarian stuff we usually have honey chilly potato which is awesome. Schezwan fried rice Thai red curry and rice are some of the most tries here. Tandoor items too are good Paneer tikka paneer saate are best.

I keep ordering from here regularly and I have been happy. Little heavy on the pocket but delicious food is important for the tummy. Spl mention:egg fried rice

Ambience: Poor lighting. The seating arrangement is pretty decent.

Service is good and the orders are catered to immediately....

The food tasted good. We liked the tripple schezwan rice alot.

Place looks small but they serve really tasty food..staff members are good ..I liked their Chinese bhel, paneer chilly dry and lipu noodles..
Gauhar Parveen
Good for starters and also for meals. Prices are reasonable . Chinese dishes could be made much better.
It's a pretty decent place for all.

Ordered chicken kababs and shammi kabab. It was the first time we ordered from here. The kababs were a huge disappointment. The kababs smelled like stale oil and the coating was thick and pasty. There was hardly any meat on the kabab pieces and the price for it is steep. For the first time in my life I've seen shammi kababs that were rava coated and deep fried. They were dry and tasteless and cold. A steep bill for tasteless food.
Satish Raju
Though this is Chinese specialist restaurant, i like few north Indian dishes over here. Specifically the paneer fried rice is top of the line. Restaurant is not huge but enough to occupy few people.
Srinivas
A very nice small place with good spicy food.. Ordered ckn clear soup, taiwan chicken, fish chilli was too soft nd buttery, main course schezwan ckn rice with prawn chilli medium spicy sauce.. Totally worth for money, nd food was too good, please visit..

Taste 4.5/5
Ambience 3/5
Service 3.5/5
Value For Money 4.5/5
Overall 15.5/20

Verdict- A restaurant that screams out looks can be deceiving.
Most off the dishes, be Indian or Chinese are well prepared & are tasty.
The ambience is shabby and would recommend people to opt for Takeaway or home delivery.
The service can be very slow at times.
The price to portion size ratio is very good And nothing is over the top expensive.

(The paneer tikka roll and paneer kalimirch are highly recommended.)
