Review Slate Cafe - Bengaluru

Seema Kumawat
This little place is amazing. Less crowd and hospitality was just great. Though they mentioned self service, they made sure you eat peacefully without getting disturbed. Food was served by them. Menu is great. Food is also great. Tried pasta, burger and milkshakes. Fries were so fresh and crispy. Their sauces are different and are really great. They have the art to blend them into something new. They would like to explain you about the dish that you are confused with. It's pet friendly too. They have separate Seating area for pets. Mini library is available.

Another Cute and Cozy Cafe in JP Nagar. A good place to spend time with friends or your bae or even kids. Also, your pets are welcomed in this place. With simple decor and great food, a must visit place They have slates board on every table, which will keep your kids busy when you visit the place with them. They also have small events like music and comedy. And if you are a book lover, you have a good options of book available Coming to food, we tried the Garlic Fries and it was really good. Crispy fries with a mild flavor of garlic Next, we had the Railway Chicken Cutlets. Made with Potato and Chicken, it was just amazing. It had fennel seeds which made it more tasty. Highly recommended For drinks, we had cold coffee and Brownie Shake which was good and had very minimal sugar which was perfect for my taste Since, we were here for a long time and with the pleasant weather, we ended up having my favourite the Masala Chai. It was just amazing. The perfect chai anybody would need to enjoy the monsoons. A very courteous staff, well managed and very attentive place.

Slate Café is a cute, cozy cafe located in JP Nagar. The concept behind it is that, people in our busy times tend to forget what real conversations mean, here at Slate cafe, you can have a fun conversation and also doodle with chalks, bringing out the inner child in you. They are pet friendly too. To begin with, I had a word with chef Sarvesh who is also the owner of the cafe and got to know about the menu. He has taken Indian food and merged it with Mediterranean and continental cuisine. Each dish has a unique presentation and there’s a twist. We started off with the soup, I had the mush-take soup which was warm, comforting, a tad high on the garlic flavour but delicious nevertheless. My friend tried the Mad-Ras soup and he absolutely loved it, it had lots of chicken pieces and had a spicy kick to it. Moving on to the appetisers I tried the Pune masala pav which arrives very differently to what you’d expect. Not pav buns with a side of gravy here, folks. It had pav bun bites soaked in the bhaji, unique and scrumptious. The shakshuka that I tired here was delicious too. It wasn’t like the usual chunky traditional shakshuka but had a creamy egg based gravy topped with the fried eggs of course. The drinks could have been better for sure. The brownie shake didn’t have the necessary chocolate flavour and the Brownie pieces on top were a bit dry. The strawberry mojito as well needed more strawberry flavour in it. The cold coffee was good though. The pizza too was a little average, I would expect more flavour in it and the veg kheema gravy instead of pizza sauce didn’t make sense to me. The three cheese ravioli was good. It had cottage cheese or paneer, processed cheese and cheddar cheese in it. Would have been better with some Parmesan instead of processed cheese but the pasta was well made and cooked properly, In non veg my friend highly recommended the “Holy Mother of God” which consisted of chicken simmered in a bhoot jalokia or ghost chilli sauce, wasn’t too spicy and tasted really good according to him. The peri peri chicken and chapli kebab were decent.

Went to slate café yesterday with a friend.. the new menu that has been launched this year is very interesting... it’s a fusion of Indian and continental food We went for half portion of the dishes in order to try out a lot of the dishes for the review. So quantity is double as in the pics. I had the Mad-Ras soup first which was a Chettinad style spicy soup.. I really enjoyed it as it was spicy and warming and there was a lot of chicken pieces in the soup which was plus point. My friend tried mush-take soup which was good too. In starters we tried the Pune Masala pav which had a different presentation from the normal masala pav and tasted good too, spices were well balanced. The peri peri chicken strips and spicy chapli kebab were decent. Stand out was the “Holy Mother of God” which consisted of chicken cooked in ghost chilli sauce with rice and veggies. It was perfect, would give 5/5 for that any day. The sauce wasn’t too spicy as you would anticipate but slowly warms the throat after a while. Shakshuka was awesome too, it was flavoured properly. Mexicana pizza, brownie shake and strawberry mojito were again decent. Three cheese ravioli was yummy, sauce was having the thick and creamy consistency and pasta was well cooked.Cold coffee to finish with was well made with strong coffee flavour Service is very friendly and the owner comes and attends to each table which gives a personal touch. Definitely recommend...

This is a newly opened cafe in J P nagar. Located on the main road, this cafe is easily accessible and has got ample parking area. Classic Cafe lightings with unique decor - I was surprised to know that everything on the walls (including menu) were written in chalk. This Cafe is a pet friendly and there is a designated area where one can bring their Dogs. Also area is well cleaned each and every time a customer walks out with their dog. They also have food menu for dogs. I also met the owners Ranjini and Sarvesh, who helped me understand the concept behind this restaurant. Coming to food, I had Katekar Burger ( you heard me right :D ) , Verde Pasta and Banana Oats shake. Burger was messier (I loved it) and Verde pasta was good. Food Rating : * Katekar Burger 5/5 * Verde pasta 5/5 * Banana Oats Shake 4/5 * Rum Ball 5/5

Place has opened just 2weeks ago. Like the slate theme which is visible through out. The menu and all the art is hand drawn.They bake their own bread every day. Pet friendly with a separate corner for pets. Friendly knowledge hosts with a smile on their face.

Amazing ambience but ventilation is bit of a problem. As it's open kitchen, sometimes eyes do have slight irritation. But once you keep this aside, you wud love this place. Separate place for pets.. loved the brownie with caramelized banana. Must try

Ever feel like going out for a cuppa but you cannot because you cannot leave your doggy home alone/ you want to take your doggy on an outing with you but not very far! If your answer is a YES, then Slate Cafe is the place. Located at an easily accessible point, this cafe welcomes people and their Pawe-somes into a cozy place. They serve quite a few continental dishes and awesome coffee too! Do not worry about your furry friends going hungry, for they have a separate menu to choose their treat! However, for people walking in with their furry friends, there is just one table designated with picket fencing around. This I would recommend prebooking table. This place is good for bibliophiles also, for they have a small yet decent collection to choose from. Also, a few board games and jhenga is available for family fun time. Last but not the least, great ambience, very friendly people to wait on you. The only suggestion if I may make one is - the washroom can be a maintained a little better. All said, this place is a great choice and I heartily recommend it.

Good food. Their fusion versions of the food you love is worth trying. Burgers are amazing. Also must visit for people who want to hang out with their fur babies. Good menu for your pet as well and my fur baby got a free peanut butter cupcake too which she loved it :)

A great place for a meal. Don't expect speedy fast food service. Every dish is made to order. So while you are waiting for your meal read one of the books they have on display or play games with your mates. The food is worth the wait, very tasty!! Also this is a pet friendly restaurant.

My husband has been here a few times and was really after me to try this place. So went there for lunch with hubby one weekday. Tried the Pune masala paav (I am from Pune, so the name was a definite lure) and it was SO good. the hit of butter and pav-bhaji taste on the first bite was just too good. We also tried the misal pav. Did not like this much. It is very different from the misal pav we get in Pune. It was thicker consistency and it did not have that typical misal taste I am used to. But it was tasty nonetheless. The railway chicken cutlets were good. We packed the mediterranean burger for the son. Tried a bite from it and it was OK-ish. The chickpea cutlet was very hard and not very tasty. We also had the cold coffee which was nice and thick (and strong because I asked them to make it strong).
I really do want to go back for the pune masala paav and few other items that looked nice on the menu. The ambience is very cute as well (plus it is walkable from my work place)

A great place to read. They have some nice books. The music is great for reading. I am so grateful for the cafe being here near my home. Am going to frequent this place. The owner and staff are very attentive and polite. I love the idea of open kitchen too as it gives a homely feel. I would like it more if the cafe had more exhausts so that the smoke from the kitchen goes out instead of comjng to the dining area.

A nice cozy place for snacks and tea/ coffee. It’s a cute little place and budget friendly cafe. The entire vibe is good.

We ordered home delivery from Slate Cafe as it had been raining continuously and all of us wanted something new for our taste buds. So we ordered a shroom sandwich, garlic fries, da firangi non veg burger, paneer pops, garlic bread with cheese and veg mexicana (pizza square). We were in for a surprise when Chef Sarvesh himself called to ask if we would like the burger to be disassembled as it would get soggy if sent assembled. That was pretty impressive !

When the order arrived, my nephew was thrilled to know that he could assemble his burger with the help of clear hand written instructions. Everything was very tasty. The garlic fries and veg mexicana, shroom burger are must try.

We will be visiting this cafe next to experience the ambience and try everything else on the menu. All the very best to Chef Sarvesh and his Team.

I recently visited this place and I really don't know where to start. Absolutely loved everything about the place! The decor was unique and on point, and the food was splendid! As a dog lover who doesn't have the privilege of having one of my own, it's delightful to be around the dogs of some of the other patrons. Props to the music too (although this could've been a notch louder, it's jazz after all)

Bangalore has a host of pet friendly places... Yet only a few manage to leave an impression on you, primarily cause most of them are in business to leverage a requirement or demand. Thankfully the Slate Cafe manages to break away from the stereotypical petcafes and goes the extra mile simply by taking time out to engage with you and more importantly the most important member of your family -your furbabies. Zara wasn't at her very best today yet inspite of that the hosts were most cordial and welcoming. We picked a host of dishes and everything ranging from the burji-pav to the mushroom sandwiches were alluring and delicious. The soup and the dessert were both satisfying and flavorful. The owners have included a small meal plan for your pets as well so we picked an appetizing meal of boiled chicken for Zara which was lapped up in a matter of seconds. Loved the back drop, the repertoire of books-(though the only way we could make use of them was if we left our pet at home) and the fact that it's right in the heart of the city and easily accessible to us. Would definitely love to go back and if you are in the vicinity, you must drop in and experience their hospitality.

Slate cafe is a small, cute, and very cozy cafe. The atmosphere is casual and homely, so we felt at home.
The food is awesomely good. I would strongly recommend that you try the burgers. Delicious. Probably the best I have had in a long time. As far as desserts are concerned, they were all ok-ok, nothing to write home about. This place is also not too expensive.
I also loved the fact that they welcome pets.

Food - 4/5
Ambience - 3/5
Service - 4/5

This is a small pet friendly cafe in jp nagar that can accomodate 30 people at one shot. Ambience is simple. Service is self on crowded days. They have also got book for the customers. Food tastes good. Mushroom soup was creamy and yum. A good place to spend time with your friends.

I loved the decor and attentive staff was a definite plus. Slate cafe is done up in a very quirky theme that allows pets and has a selection of books for you to browse through. The food was good too and on the generous side. One suggestion would be to crumb fry the firangi tikkas as they seemed to be slightly underdone. Otherwise, everything was just amazing. We had a lot of fun playing games on the slate and chalks that were provided at the table too.

SLATE CAFE is a small yet cute Cafe which is in JP Nagar. it's a very comfortable place and calm too. this place is Pet-Friendly which is amazing.

1) Coming to the ambience and the aesthetics,i feel the place is just perfect for the atmosphere it creates, it's a calm place where people can sit and talk. really good colors and chairs co-ordination. love the lighting, the art work stuck on the wall and the painting on the wall.
there is a section for people with pets and there is a section for people without pets so that but kinds could have their own environment to hangout from at this place.

2) I don't have any issues with their service, their service was fine i felt 😁

3) Staff Behaviour was very good and i love more of an interactive staff which was seen here and they're very welcoming and friendly and honest about their food here ❤️

4) Coming to food, this is where i found some lacks, like the Shakes werent thick enough for me and i love it thick. However the flavour was good on the bourbon Shake and the Brownie Shake. The cupcakes have a potential to be amazing good here but i just felt the toppings of it was good and i however would love it if the same was done even on the insides of the cupcakes. apart from these things everything else which we tried was good. the shakes were good itself but i like them thick based on my personal opinion but others might like it though ❤️ food is simple and kept hygiene here. good tastes too ❤️

MUST TRY :

Chickizza
Railway Chicken Cutlet
Brownie Shake ( who likes it like a milkshake )
Bourbon Shake ( who likes it like a milkshake )

MY RATING : 4/5

Ambience : 4.5/5
Service : 4/5
Staff Behaviour : 5/5
Food : 4/5

Thanks for reading my review, see you all soon and take care!❤️😁

We chanced upon this lovely little place on the main road, and we love it. It’s pet friendly too and they have a small separated area for furbies and pawrents. They have a special section on the menu as well. Our boys had a fun time playing with their little mascot, Scout the beagle.

Now on to humans. We ordered the Mutton Sandwich, the Hawaiian pizza, garlic fries, ampanna and the lemon mint cooler.

The food was delicious. Every item we ordered on the menu tasted really good and the concept of the cafe is amazing. It’s a really nice place to just sit and chill. They service was fast and excellent and we were made to feel very welcome. A special shoutout to the beverages as they all tasted good and refreshing. We loved the ambience and the menu is pretty diverse as well. They have cute concept of a slate at every table so you can doodle or use it to engage your kids. It’s definitely a family friendly cafe.

The proprietor Sarvesh is always in the restaurant, interacting and engaging with guests. A big thank you to Sarvesh and Ranjani for a really great afternoon!

Cute cosy little place in JP Nagar is a pet friendly cafe offering fusion food. It brings old time Indian food with a modern presentation. They have taken continental dishes and given it a desi spin.

We loved how they have made a separate section for customers coming with pets so they do not distract other visitors in the cafe. It lives up to everyone's interest. The efforts to provide service with a personal touch was pretty evident.

OUR RATING
Taste - 3.5/5
Ambience - 4/5
Service - 5/5
Value for money - 4/5
Hygiene - 5/5

DO TRY
Bourbon shake - it is not a thick shake so expect a regular shake that is perfect on the sugar, light and pleasing to the hot weather

The cafe is pretty close to Ranga Shankara, so we walked in when we were early for a play. They have a fusion menu - we had an amazing sandwich and burger. The taste of South Indian spices in American style food was an interesting experience, very well done. Drinks, however, were ordinary and overpriced.
Sanketh Rao
Ordered food from here. I love new businesses and the passion behind it. Sarvesh called me up to make sure if I was ok putting my own burger together , that way it would not be soggy. I really liked the personal touch. Above all the burgers were awesome. Juicy and delicious. Also the garlic bread was terrific. Kudos to you guys. How to make a burger instructions were handwritten on the box, how amazing is that. Very impressed. You forgot the onion and tomato that was to go above the lettuce. But no worries at all, took us 2 secs to get that done. Keep up d good work guys!
Suprabhat Sural
Great food and a lovely ambience. Tried the single barrel sandwich - yummy. The menu is brilliant if u r a sandwich, pizza or burger lover. Wish could get coke too. Also an extra 🌟 goes for it being pet friendly.

Been here twice now and all of us including our dog love the place. Its a pet friendly place in the true sense. I loved their garlic fries, pumpkin pasta and chocolate brownie. The owners are very friendly and its nice to chat with them during and after the meal. My dog Ringo really enjoyed there. I wish they would add more items to the menu eventually. Its a really cool place to hangout. Do try it especially along with your pet.

What I liked the most about this place is the lights and graphic designs/wordings on the wall.
Quite a good number of food options but they have to improvise on the staffing.
There are board games as well to keep one occupied while waiting for the food 😊
Few dishes are overpriced compared to the portion.
Food is of the good quality and taste.

This is a promising place. On the plus, it looks nice and neat, well lit, interesting and friendly.

On the minuses, its too smoky, service is too slow. Fries, drink and soup were good ; pizza was not upto the mark.

Going with a 4 (instead of a 3), hoping the restaurant will improve on the minuses. Next visit depends on having a cool and speedy service.

Upon seeing the decor from outside, I checked the reviews on zomato and decided to try out the cafe. While the ambience, decor, staff courtesy, menu design was very good, I was disappointed when I ordered a Big Plate of veg hotpot and the quantity was less than filling and less according to the price they quoted. The taste of the food wasn't very yummy but not totally inedible. Even the drink I ordered wasn't up to the mark. Books are available along with a separate dining area for people coming in with pets. All in all, an ok experience.

One of the few pet friendly cafes In the locality, pet owners don't miss this place(has a secluded area for your pets and you to have quality time). Food is awesome , don't miss the fries and red wedding soup(GOT fans, spoiler alert). Highlight is you can customise any dish however you want, and the chef is very accomdative.

Our favourite place in JP Nagar! This corner cafe has something for everyone ( and I'm not just talking about the food!) The owners are amazing people that are very welcoming and full of chirpy stories. Tried most of the food there- everything is amazing! And if thats not enough, to top it all- it's a pet friendly cafe! Go there - you won't regret it!

The lady who owns the cafe was very polite and interactive..ambience is pretty good! But food was pathetic, ordered pizza and it was no good! Quantity and quality! No good..! Cafe is pet friendly which is lovely tho

Nice new cafe in JP nagar which we went to recently. The pricing is a bit above par but the taste is on point, the mexicana pizza and brownie shake in paricular. I recommend this place.

A very nice place to chill out. Prime location, good ambience, great staff, delicious food, and pocket friendly, what else could you ask for. Verde pasta is a must try!

This beautiful, cosy cafe at the junction of Delmia circle flyover oozes love and very pawsitive vibes. Yes, it is a pet friendly cafe, and they have books and music too. The owner, Ranjini, is a lovely host who will leave no stone unturned to make you feel comfortable. It is a small set up with a big heart. They have quite a nice range of cafe food, and the dishes we had (firangi tikki, pumpkin pasta, cold coffee) hit all the right marks taste wise. Nothing over done, nothing under done. The chef is also a cordial human (I missed asking his name) and is well-versed with his trade. I could see this place as a perfect place for small art club gatherings, meet-ups, open mic events, and book clubs. They have a lot of things planned up. And I wish them the best in all their undertakings.

After looking at the reviews and images, I was all excited to try out this place. Unfortunately, all the hopes and excitement went down the drain.
Located in JP Nagar, this place is small, cosy and has a funky vibe. But that's about it. The service is the biggest problem here. They are just two slow, unorganised and under staffed. We ordered a dairy milk shake, banana oats and brownie shake. They all tasted good. The only complaint here is that the brownie shake was not cold. Their paneer poppers was not that great as well.
The egg burji with pao was good. The burgers on the other end were not good. Have been to many burger places and this just didn't deliver.
Overall not a great experience. Would want to rate it two but since they are under staffed would give them a 3.
Cheers .

When passion turn to profession, it always comes with alot of affection and attention. I always have a lot of respect for people who follow their passion and do a fantastic job at it. Love for food and attention to details is clearly seen in all the efforts Chef Sarvesh puts in his cafe.
It's a pet friendly cafe, with a special pet friendly table and a special pet menu, so take your pets along and enjoy food together. This place has great varity of food at prices that appeal to all. I especially loved their pizza, sandwiches and their starters.
I am so going there every time i visit JP Nagar 😇
My verdict - 4/5 for food and 5/5 for experience.

Some of my recommendations are -

Peri-peri Chicken Strips
Paneer pops
Mamma Sandwich
Puller Mutton Burger (absolutely love this one)
Masta Pasta
Mexicana Pizza
Brownie Shake (absolutely wonderful)

Amazing place for refreshing your mind with really good books, the food is made really different! I love the way they've designed their Cafe, and the BEST part is you can take your doggos there and they have food for them also!
Ambience -5/5
Food-4.5/5
Service - It's a Cafe

A small and a warm café with lots of friendly vibes. Located near the delmia circle in JP Nagar is this newly opened Cafe with lots of potential. Yes, this is also pet friendly with a small section just for them!

You can get whole lot of interesting books here to read or probably bring your own book of choice and enjoy with your food.

Coming to the food, it was really good and they are always up for suggestions and feedback if it's not upto the mark.

Some of my favorites were the nostalgia drink which is a unique combination of complan, hot chocolate and cocoa. Then the square shaped pizza's which were cheesy and very affordable as well. The pasta and sandwiches were also really good which was really soothing.
All the bread is made in-house which is really soft and tasty.

I'm giving an extra star just for the amazing service and hospitality given by the owners here. Definitely a must visit for people residing nearby JP Nagar area.

Tucked away in Hustle and bustle area of JP Nagar. What can I say about this little piece of paradise. The owners really love there food and respect customers preference. They are way too polite. The same is reflected in thier food outside it's American inspired but after taking a bite you find yourself baffled. The taste is out of this world. The food they serve is completely customised and customisable by request. The buns are baked to perfection by themselves rather than sourcing it from a different vendor. A good place to hit on the weekend or whenever you feel hungry and indulge yourself.

They also have pet treats such as puppy cupcakes called as pupcakes. Check this place out...

Started with some quick bites:

* Grilled Chicken Salad (4/5)

* Peri Peri Chicken Strips (5/5)

* Garlic Fries (5/5)

For Main course ordered:

* Maa Ka Pav (5/5)

* Katekar (5/5)

* Lamblast (5/5)

* Day special (Veg Loaded Pizza) - (4.5/5) my

Drinks

* Lemon Mint soda (4.5/5)

Slate cafe, a cafe that serves some delightful and scrumptious fusion food, which is also pet-friendly, located in JP Nagar, close to Vega city mall.

Visited this place on a weekday for lunch, the ambiance of this place is really pretty, almost entire cafe walls are like a giant slate and all decorated with chalk, one of those very few places where the ambiance and decor sync with the name. Light jazz music playing in the background, will definitely make you feel relaxed.

Started with some quick bites:
* Grilled Chicken Salad (4/5)
* Peri Peri Chicken Strips (5/5)
* Garlic Fries (5/5)

Highly recommend the peri peri chicken strips - succulent chicken breast strips crisply fried and topped with generous amount of peri peri.

For Main course ordered:
* Maa Ka Pav (5/5)
* Katekar (5/5)
* Lamblast (5/5)
* Day special (Veg Loaded Pizza) - (4.5/5)

For the burgers, they use their homemade buns which soft and soggy, the burgers are very messy, just the way those are meant to be, and amazing flavors in each and every burger is very unique and just amazing.

Lamblast, lamb meatballs with stuffed with cheese.
Would definitely love to visit again and taste other fusions on their menu.

Bon Appetit

Food Rating :

* Katekar Burger              5/5
* Verde pasta                   5/5
* Banana Oats Shake       4/5
* Rum Ball                         5/5

I loved the food, spiced tea (must try) and their separate enclosure for diners with pets... Great idea!
Suggestion to the restaurant: open kitchen.. it's very clean but it would have been better off if it was covered by glass maybe...

A cute little place in JP nagar which serves fantastic food with a twist. A good mix of veg and non-veg. It has a cute nook for the pets as well and treats for them too..so you and your pets can dine together :). If you are in that part of the town..do not miss it.

It was a Saturday afternoon and I was looking for a place to eat. I wasn't very sure about place but the ambience felt nice. So, I still decided to give it a try. Am happy to say that my experience was worth every paisa spent. The food was delicious. I tried two meatball dishes. Surprisingly and refreshingly, these were freshly prepared (I can't think of a single place which bakes, cooks fresh meatballs. It takes time but well worth)!
The gravy with one of the dishes - mutton lombastic was lip smacking. Mutton bullets were crispy and very appetizing.
It's worth mentioning that the head chef and his wife are the owners. They serve and help customers decide their order. The extra attention they give to each customer is a pleasant thing!
All in all, very satisfied. Try it out if you haven't already..

A great selection of menu items that make you come back to try every single one of those.
Would definitely recommend a visit to this cozy new cafe.
