Review Excelsior Bakery - Bengaluru

Murali Iyer
A bakery soon to hit a century needs no review. My dad used to get "Milk Bread" in the early 1970s and it was unique in shape size and taste. Recently, Varrier Bakery has come close to making a similar bread. Even to this day, the uniqueness has been maintained besides a host of regular bakery products. Recently, Kripal ammanna made their Plum cake famous too.... The present challenge though is to reach the place, forget parking, its impossible.

Craving for Japanese cake that I used to eat @ Ayyar & Co, Coimbatore and was looking for the same in Bengaluru. Fortunately, I could find it in Excelsior. Oh man... I was so glad that I found it. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Nice backyard with awesome food. All quality foods are available here. The cake quality is too good. Also the service is very fast. And staff members will behave politely. That is a great experience,

Location of this place is in a crowded market area. I am 90% sure you wont be able get a parking spot nearby. Very doubtful about getting one even if you search around. The footpaths are already encroached by the street hawkers and road in front of this bakery is always crowded and faces heavy traffic jam. Coming to the bakery, the prices are reasonable, and at a first france, it seemed their cream pastries are quite famous. Online payment option is available. I bought plain cake for 60 Rs (the smallest size available) ,and 150 Rs Plum Cake (the smallest size available)

Most loved bakery since my chidhood , even though you have so many bakeries around ...the first thought comes Excelsior ... Even though pastries are famous now a days I always prefer a normal cake which they bake ..it's really yummy and the aroma of the cake itself says it's delicious ... And ppl who are working there need to be really appreciated ...

This was once a huge wide shop but now a narrow bakery. Have been having stuff for over 30 yrs and still, whenever am around, I don't miss on their veg puffs, apple cake, and Japanese cakes. They have a few varieties of burfies which sell like lot cakes apart from their special bread. This place even stocks peppermints which one usually doesn't find in the market nowadays. Bon Appetite @Chef BB

One of Bangalore's oldest surviving, family run (now into it's 4th Gen) bakery, Excelsior is a throw back to a era when people stood in queues to buy bread from them. Today, old & young throng the place alike to savour delicacies, as tasty & fresh like earlier. If you want to discover Japanese & Apple cake, you must visit Excelsior. Oh, by the way, if you don't have a sweet tooth, not to worry, you can have an egg puffs & aloo bun.
