I have been regular customer of the place from past 25 years. They don't compromise with quality of food. Hygiene is taken care and ambiance is good.

It has variety of options for the self service restaurant be it the chats, Paratha, South Indian and North Indian dishes which doesn’t exist in the menu card for the sake of it, but is actually of good quality and is delicious. It is very much affordable and cleanliness is maintained which are the key factors for a restaurant to be a good hit among the crowd. Ambience - 4/5 Taste - 4/5 Pricing - 4/5

I am very happy with the Service and staff. I had organized my son’s 6th Birthday here at New Shanti Sagar Express and all my guests were happy with the food and service. I am thankful to the management to give us the extra time to complete our function.

Amazing food especially the chats and the one I would suggest is "dahi Puri". Been here after a long time and quantity and quality of the food was still the same. Great place for family and friends. Prices are very reasonable and have almost been the same for many years.

Always Shanti Sagar is one of the best preferable vegetarian cuisine. It locates near Manuvana, Vijay Nagar. North Indian and Chinese are served great. Even service hall is quite good & best place to hang out for lunch or dinner with family and friends. Overall rating: 1. For food - 9/10. 2. For hospitality - 9/10. 3. Ambience - 8/10. 4. Price - 10/10, Really worthy.

It's a very friendly and warm place. The food was good in taste but cold and the service was pathetic as it was too slow and we had to repeatedly follow up on our order, neither the staff was bothered. I have visited the restaurant many times and it's been good mostly.

Since I stay close by I don’t have much options in vijaynagar and Shanti sagar is one of the very few options . Sadly their quality seems to be deteriorating. Especially North Indian food . The taste has come down some how . Safest options would be veg grill sandwich, pav bhaji and idli sambar dip. But the staff are good At the self service section especially . . Hope they work on getting their quality back to the olden times .

Pathetic customer service with a load of arrogance. I ordered about 4 dishes for parcel and was charged 5Rs per container and 7Rs for a cover. The food came after 80 mins of waiting and with great joy I took it and started heading out. The cover did not even hold till the entrance of the hotel and fell down with all the food ordered on the floor. When I complained about this to the manager/owner sitting at the desk he said was not bothered at all acting like it was my fault. I had paid for the cover and it was not given in charity. Neither was I told whether the cover was delicate. The manager had a 'screw you' attitude through the whole episode instead of being at least considerate about it and have the decency to apologise. Customer service is the most important during a bad experience of a customer and not only when they have good experiences.

Place is crowded most of the time due to the fame. North indian dishes are nice here. Service is good. I'd recommend the place for takeaways to avoid rush crowd.

This is the first time that I am visiting this place and I kinda like the food that they served. The taste of each and every dish that we took was brilliant.

Initially after being hell tired after extensive shopping session we went to this place to have something as we were damn hungry and hence we took a mix food so we all can be having different kind of cuisine.

Every dish was delicious in its own way. We had ordered Aloo Paratha, Tomato bath and Set Dosa.

Aloo Paratha : The Aloo Paratha was tummy filling and delicious at the same time. Dahi and pickle with this Paratha is just what you want when craving for a Paratha in Vijay Nagar.

Tomato Bath : This South Indian dish very much reminded me of my mother’s home made tomato bath. Mildly Spiced, nicely marinated veggies with rice.

Set Dosa : It tastes like any other dosa just given the fact that it was a bit oily than the usual Dosa available in the restaurants. Oily, tummy filling and best for its price.

Ambience - 4/5
Price - 4.5/5
Taste - 4/5

Had been to this restaurant many times, observed that the quality is gradually reducing as the days pass on.
During my last visit had taken Hot n Sour soup and they had totally lost the receipe, it was too much sour and when asked the server, arrogantly he said thats how it is made. Service is getting worst day by day.
Starters and main course tasted pretty good as usual. I would rate then 3.5.
Overall my rating goes down due to the service otherwise its a decent quick visit.

Went here yesterday for lunch. Decided to order some roti and subji and rice. The food was served late, but was very delicious. But the attitude of the staff is very sad. They have a I Dont care attitude towards the customer. The moment my food was served i was told the kitchen will be closed so if any follow up order has to be made now. I placed my order , but to my surprise thirty min later they were still taking orders from the new customers. You literally have to beg to get some water served at your table. Rotis are very thin, masala papad was burnt and hardly had any vegetables on it. we had to demand our bill and the staff did not bother to come back to collect the money. We went to the billing counter and paid it there and left. I love their food but i dont think i am going back there.

This place was actually our favorite until they renovated and stuff. To be precise, until few weeks back. (late review)

It was our go to dinner place or take away favorites for a very long time.Even now the food tastes good.

Only concern : maintenance, this restaurant being one of the old Goldie. It's a big disappointment just cause of this carelessness happening in kitchen.

(Happend in service section)
But man! What is the use of good food if you're kitchen needs a big check ??!!! Guess why? Roaches in lemon soda, roaches in lemon mint. And cockroaches in dahi vada. It was second time experiencing such crappy maintenance from them.
Previously once (in AC) received apology in the name of renovation and such n were excused. Now what?

Such careless acts and poor response.

What's the use of canceling that order from the bill? What changes,?
That's the only thing management could do so far.

Check your plates! Not recommended for people who takes kids here.

Very good South Indian food . Menu has lot of options including Chinese and North Indian but these are mediocre. Not an exotic food restaurant but decent to visit with family. Value for money for sure!!

Shanti Sagar is one of the oldest chains in Bangalore and the ambiance is maintained simple. Well lit seating and quick service. I'm a loyal customer of Shanti Sagar and now also I enjoy having their Baby corn Manchurian and Handi Biryani. But for a die hard fan like me it's kind of annoying to have tomato soup, tava pulav which does not give you a feel of satisfaction. This time I ordered Tomato Soup, Masala Papad , Babycorn Manchurian and Tava pulav. Masala Papad was crispy with the toppings done right and manchurianwell done , but Tomato soup and Tava Pulav were a let down for me. Tava pulav was not spicy, though we asked the waiter to make it extra spicy and the soup was watery. For sure it's pocket friendly, Try Kaju Masala and North Indian deluxe thali, good stuff you won't be disappointed + value for money.

Went here a few days ago with family. The guy who took the order did not talk any Kannada. It was very difficult to talk to him as he understood very little english. This restaurant needs to employ localities who speak the local language.

The food was average. We ordered Idly, vada , masala dosa and filter coffee. The masala dosa lacked flavor. Sambhar was good. This hotel needs to improve in a lot of ways.

A decent restaurant for having lunch and dinner with family members. Ambience is good. Tried masala dosa and cheese masala dosa. It was good. Staff is also good. Nice experience. Nothing extraordinary, just plain and simple.

Had been there so many times, Idly and sambar is too good. But the north indian dishes are not good as expected. Nice place to chill out since very close .

Old place with many add ons... Overcrowded in the evenings... Have to wait for long if u are going with more than 5-6 people as there will be no table for so many... Love the paneer butter masala and paneer chili... Roti and nan are too rubbery... Overall a good and decent place for dinner with family...

Was in the area with parents and for old times sake, we decided to have lunch here. 14 years ago when we used to live nearby, this place was a regular haunt for me and my father for chaat in the evening and the go to place for the family when we had to take out relatives or friends. A lot has definitely changed from then with a new building being added which has a party hall, sweets section and chaat section but the owners remain the same and the old man still sits at the cash counter. Wonder what made him come and talk to us, but it made us recollect the good old days :)

We chose to sit in the Non AC section on the ground floor instead of the AC section which is on the first floor of the original building. Coming to the food we got ourselves limited items which are below:

Gobi Manchurian - Ordered this just to refresh the memories of the past. The manchurian is less crunchy and flavorful now. Definitely an indication of multiple change of hands in the kitchen! Less oil in it and the quantity is decent and can easily feed 4 people.

South Mini Meals- This is a steal for 75rs and was the most popular item in the restaurant when we were there as many of them were having it. Could do with the addition of a butter milk though. The usual items, sambar, rasam, saagu , papad, rice, curd all of which tasted nice and they were hot.

Puri Masala- 3 big puris served with potato masala and chutney. The potato curry tasted more like the one made at home but the puris were considerably oily.

Paneer Fried Rice- Sufficient for 2 people, this was definitely not the best fried rice I have had. Lacked flavor in it. Could do with little bit more of spice and salt.

Service is pretty quick and the prices are also reasonable. Definitely one of the better vegetarian restaurants in the area.

The best veg restaurant in Vijaya Nagar. Consistently good food for over a decade. Must tries are paneer chilli, kaju masala, baby corn green masala.

A very good old point during while we were staying at Rajajinagar.. A darshani like hotel where you have the self service at the ground floor and the service at the first floor, can't remember if they have part hall too... They have south india, North Indian, some Chinese and chaats to serve.. Initial during the hotel started food was fabulous and was the crowd.. Later things changed they could not keep up the good work.. Visit the place a year back for my cousins part things were average...

Good food but no sufficient space to sit even when at night 10 pm. North indian food seems to be a hit out here going by what people were ordering the most
