Review Cafe Cassia And Deli - Bengaluru

S
I had been wanting to go here for the longest time and I finally did. The ambience is posh and quite. The entrance to this place is around the left corner. There are many stores to check out. So if you find a little turn in hand. Do check it out. The food was delicious. Choose the pizza pockets and spaghetti. It's was good portion for two people. Would suggest this place to anyone looking for a good cafe and quite time.

The cafe where you can enjoy the cup of coffee with a piece of history. The house the cafe is located has an amazing story to tell. You get to do some good boutique shopping as well.

Beautiful cafe with boutiques around it. Food was good too. Hummus & Tomu & Brushetta were tasty. But deducting star for less variety & availability of items on menu
Sahil Bihari
One of the best cafes that I have visited so far. Their freshly brewed coffee was super awesome. I ordered the all day breakfast with mushrooms and sausages in my omelette (you can choose from a variety of toppings) and it was really well prepared. The best part about this place is the ambience. This cafe is so peaceful, serene, calm and green, it immediately makes you feel at home... It felt so nice that I didn't want to leave this place ever haha! Highly recommended!

One of the most beautiful boutiques in Bangalore. You’d get lost in this building’s beauty if you’re an architecture nerd. British + Chettinad architecture at its best.

A quaint cafe located in a beautiful, antique mansion in Bangalore. Absolutely dreamy decor, this garden cafe nestled inside the fashion boutique Cinnamon and was an immediate favourite. The wooden tables and chairs, set against planters, a bougainvillaea shrub and stoned-pathway will transport you into a fairy tale, especially during twilight hours and after. Please ensure that you check the bill amount and the taxes levied by the restaurant before you complete the payment. I have found that they charge 5% additional tax over and above the usual taxes and this is optional and not legit 😵‍💫

Great experience . This restaurant is located in an ancient building which gives it a great look and vintage feeling . Its an italian restaurant and food is hygienic and delicious. I tried Pasta here and it was delicious . Ingredients and cheese used in it were not the regular cheese we get in market, hence worth the money spent . I ordered Pasta and sausage omelette and the bill was somewhere 800/- INR , hence a little expensive but experience was worth it.

This place is small and cozy. Different Ambience! Loved the Pasta and coffee. This is Recommended.

An old-world charm with quintessential ambience. They have a back story for this place which just enhances the overall experience. Food was little overpriced but with this cafe no one would mind that. You can do work from cafes or just sit, sip and read your news paper.

Perfect spot for a date and to explore the slow living amidst the city life.

They have vegan options. The food is absolutely delicious.

The place is decent, with a quite atmosphere. A serene environment that will actually make your mood. No hustle rustle, which makes the place even more likable.

Lovely space as always for good food , company and old bangalorw charm.

I'm surprised this place is not in the hype. its so rustic, it takes you to a different time period. The place is from the 1800s and is well preserved. The ambience is so calming and simple. Talking about the food it was so balanced and tasty. The desserts here are to kill for and they are out of this world. Just a dessert and coffee and some good company would be enough to call it a good day 🥰. The staff are very polite and soft spoken. They leave us to it and do not disturb you unless you call them. That's one of the good things a lot of others get it wrong ☺️

Have been living in Bangalore for more than twenty years but I have never come across a cafe like this one. One of the finest cafes with an amazing spread of food, coffee and desserts. Best part of the cafe is it has a central open courtyard and it’s simplicity. The staff are extremely friendly and courteous. Highly recommend!!

One amongst the beautiful cafe I have visited in Bangalore after ARTJUNA from Goa

This seems to be very similar

Sandwiches are really good
Juices I felt a bit expensive
Overall I loved the experience here

It's good and a beautiful place
Must visit

This cafe is actually disguised under an 100 years old building.. It is surrounded by small rooms which are actually shops nows, so once you enter the building you will be able to find the cafe 😊.. The Menu of the cafe is not vast but it has all necessary food that we would like to go for 👍. Apart from food, this is also a shopping spot however since all the shops have designer clothes so it is quite costly unlike the cafe which is very very reasonable.. A must try out cafe of Bengaluru 👍😉😃

Absolutely stunning ambience with a calm setting. Definitely try their all day breakfast omellete and roesti potatoes.
The beverage options were slightly limited, so a slight bummer there. All in all a relaxing and calm dining experience
Ambiance is amazing. It's a restaurant inside boutique. Food is really more than delicious. Each item of the menu is customizable. Had such amazing penne and spaghetti pasta after long time.

On recommendation from a friend I had visited this cozy cafe , The butter chicken quiche tasted slightly stale and the wait staff informed us that it is delivered the previous day from a different restaurant and they just heat it up in the microwave . This quiche costed me 300+ and for sure wasn't worth the price paid .

Food 1/1.5
Ambience 1.5/1.5
Others 1/2

Beautiful place to sit and spend time. The coffee could be improved and the service is very poor for the location and the price that is charged

Beautifully designed little cafe.

Located inside a boutique store called Cinnamon, Cafe Cassia may not be easy to find. However, this place is a nice little treat.

The cafe is located in the courtyard of an old bungalow, and the ambience is earthy and quite pleasing. There aren’t too many seats but this place isn’t crowded either, you wont have trouble finding seats.

The service here is good, we were well attended to and the servers kept a good eye on the water levels in our glass. They didn’t take a lot time to ready the order.

They have a good selection of teas, I liked their masala tea. Cold coffee was good too - the flavours were mild but enough. Highlight of the food was the pasta - the sauce was very creamy and satisfying. The penne was cooked right and the veggies were neither raw nor soggy. I’d love to come here again.

What a beautiful little place.
The place is easy to find and is situated inside cinnamon.
The place is just absolutely beautiful, such a calm place situated in the heart of the city.
Starting off, the ambience is lovely.
We started off by ordering a cappuccino and a cucumber-orange-thyme drink.
Then we ordered the butter chicken quiche, Panini with pesto, tomato and mozzarella and the key lime tart for dessert.
The butter chicken quiche was just absolutely delicious, 5/5, must try!
The rest was good too.

Food: 4.5/5
Ambience: 5/5
Service: 4/5
Value for money: 3.5/5

Away from the frenzy of Commercial Street, this is a petit cafe located in a quaint building, Cinnamon! The small courtyard helps with the freshness of air!
Coming to the food, the menu has limited items but everything you order is perfect to taste!
A good number of teas on their menu and the best part about their iced tea was that it was fresh and the flavours were very subtle, yet refreshing!

Nestled inside the old Cinnamon building in Ulsoor , this is a tiny cafe serving some amazing food. The menu is limited but whatever you order, you will not be disappointed. must try - their pastas and coffee. Very peaceful setting , must if you want to sit and catch up with a friend or just sit alone. :)

It was a Monday afternoon when we were visiting commercial street to run a couple of errands. It wasn't long before our stomachs started to rumble and we needed to find a place to eat. Khan Saheb was right across the road, but I was in the mood for something a little more appetizing; so I quickly opened up Zomato to find out what's in the vicinity and stumbled upon this lil place. Just a short walk from com street is this artsy lil deli nested in the Cinnamon building.
The second we sat down, we knew the food would be delectable and continued to place our order. When it comes to ambience, this place is perfect to enjoy a good book or a private conversation. The calm environment and non intrusive staff make it a great place to unwind and sip on some great tea. Their Apple Strudel melts in your mouth and each dish tastes like it has been made with finesse. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and look forward to a lot more.

I absolutely love this place. It's a quaint boutique Cafe. A rustic setup in a old romantisiced building, much like a English 90's movie.

Food is fresh, tasty and healthy. Note that since it's freshly prepared food, there service time is little longer. They also give the option to make tweaks in their dishes according to yr choice.

They have an array of tea and coffee choices from the best in class brands. You can also carry some home from brands like blue tokai coffee and teabox teas.

Their price point is a bit on the higher side. But they also give you the option of some retail therapy.

Food suggestions are green chicken Thai curry and veg cheese roll. Preferred tea is hibiscus lush.

Happened to pass by the refrigerator and saw this rotten cake , this was very disappointing .
Please be aware of the restaurant serving old stock!!!
Would recommend all of you to cross check with the servers for a new stock bakery item !

I loved the ambience and decor. It's a place you want to stay in all day. Although the service could be faster, whatever we ordered was delicious. I recommend the pastas and the lemon tart! A must try for laid back cafe lovers.
Gaku Shinoda

This place is quiet and serene unlike most of the crowded cafes in Bangalore. Located inside a old bungalow Cinnamon which has a few boutiques around the café.Its a small place where you can peacefully sit and work as well .. They have some good range of teas offered along with nice food , both of which is over priced.
Overall a lovely place to visit on a rainy evening.
Daksha
A lovely place with a quiet and serene ambience. Could sit here all day doing your work , studies etc. The quantity of food can be more I would suggest :) but great taste I must say. Over all loved the experience.
Shailesh
Tried ordering three things. The cafe that didn't have cappucciono or lattes, cake or tiramisu. Dead bored staff that's indifferent to everything... Not worth the fuel spent driving here, try cafe kara in the neighbourhood instead!
Anand Prakash
One of the sweetest place to spend a quiet evening at. The food is amazing, the decor cozy, the range of tea is exquisite and reasonably priced as well.

This little Cafe is tucked away in the heart of the city. Car parking is also available. This Cafe is in the centre courtyard of an old bungalow called Cinnamon. There are boutiques all around the Cafe. I ordered the Kolkata Street Chai. It was well made. I also tasted the Ginger Taffy which was good. I ordered the Crispy Cheese and Vegetable Rolls. It was tasty but a little bit oily. The ambience was great as the centre rectangle of the courtyard was open from above. We could hear the birds chirping through this open area. The music was also good. They played a lot of Coldplay songs and some retro music.

***I visited this place for a second time last weekend and was disappointed to note that they charged GST on the service charge. I have uploaded the bill as a reference. Hence, I have changed my original rating of this place (from 4 stars to 3 stars).

Such a lovely place.Enjoyed my food a lot. This place was recommended by one of my friend and it was worth visiting.Little inside not seen from outside, however easy to locate.Pricing is on little higher side but worth trying .

In a spectacularly authentic old world open courtyard, in the premises of the cinnamon store, this place is a gorgeous setting for a quick bite, they offer a variety of tea, which they serve beautifully, with a tea timer!
Madhurima Deka
My favourite escape in Bangalore. A peaceful place with really good food. My all time fav would be the Quinoa-sausage-sunflower seed salad. An ice tea completes the meal. You have a list of options to pick from. Must try!

Very soothing and enchanting interiors!! Go there if you want to have a peaceful time while still being in the city.. Great place for a conversation over a cup of Tea from TeaBox. Although, you will be disappointed here if you expect decent portion size at reasonable pricing.
It's all about the ambience which is worth it!!

In simple words... Place for people who love reading books. Highly expensive not much variety on the menu. Ordered chicken sandwich it was yummy... Very clean quite sophisticated. Space utilized very well.

The place has a vintage charm. Food is a bit over-priced and the variety available too can be improved upon. Staff is courteous and helpful.

Overll a good experience! Shreya Adarsh

Nestled in the bustling ulsoor area, the ambiance is calm and peaceful. Interesting & exotic tea flavors from teabox are available despite other beverage options. Tried their aglio olio pasta which was decent, but the portions was small. Wished the tea was freshly brewed rather than the tea-bag option. Price is definitely on the steep side.Car parking is available inside the premises as well.
Vikram
Tried the Pesto Chicken sandwich and Aglio Olio Penne pasta. They tasted good but the portions were too little and it was overpriced. The place is inside Cinnamon, which is beautiful.
Pallavivivivi
This beautiful place situated in ulsoor leaves you mesmerised. The place is so calm n peaceful, you can just relax reading a book or shop around in cinnamon. The teas, smoothies and pasta were really good.

This cafe is hidden amongst the busy main road near Ulsoor, a very beautiful place with many clothing and home decor shops in the same venue.
The ambience of the place is really pretty and a quite place so ideal for reading I would say.
We ordered the almond coffee and chocolate coffee since they had a separate tent card for coffee we wanted to try out different kinds of coffee, the taste was good although the flavour of coffee was very light.
We ordered humus and pita for starters, the humus tasted really good but we were given only 3 small pita Breads which was not enough for the quantity of humus provided.
We ordered green Thai curry for main course and the flavours were nice and strong but the quantity was too little.
Lastly we ordered apple strudel, it was honestly very bad and we were glad that the quantity for this was less.
Service and ambience- 4/5
Value for money and taste - 2.5/5

Hidden away in an old colonial building, this quaint place has music for the soul. Interesting tea flavours from teabox and an overall soothing ambience, this is a place that's meant for quiet conversations.

Great place , calm and soothing
Went on a Sunday afternoon
Loved food there
We ordered pita wrap with chicken , tandoori chicken cassia burger with avocado cream & creamy herb chicken penne pasta.
For Dessert we had the chocolate walnut fudge brownie which was really decadent ... dense and flavour full
We had the pomegranate swirl ice tea which was ok...

I absolutely love the cafe. If not for the food, I'd go there just to experience the tropical garden like undertone of the place. It's beautiful. It's like a hidden gem in commercial street.
It's perfect for anybody who enjoys a cup of tea with some light appetizers on a lazy afternoon.
I had the soup of the day which was Veg clear soup and an omelette with chicken and mushrooms. I can't say much for the potato hash browns since it was dripping with oil, but everything else was good. I'd refrain from ordering any tea with milk in it but stick to the green or white tea instead.
Courteous service too.
I'd definitely recommend it.

I had gone to this lovely cafe in ulsoor. The place is situated in the same complex with few other shops and school nearby. The place has a very good ambience. I had chicken pasta with arrabiata sauce and cherry compote tart for dessert. Both the dishes were really good.
Ashwin Dsouza
A quaint little coffee shop and delicatessen near ulsoor lake, the place has an old world charm, the desserts are great. Limited menu and really good food. Great place to take your date.

Loved the visit to this beautiful cafe! Located opposite RBANMS grounds, the cafe has parking which is a boon in the busy Sivanchetty Gardens area. The entrance was my favorite - they have a home & lifestyle store at the entrance and the cafe on the inside. The menu is minimal in a good way - they have the essentials on a menu and they don't disappoint in taste or flavor. We ordered different teas and desserts which were all pretty good. The Butter Chicken Quiche is a good choice for savouries. The ambience is so pleasant and warm, you feel comfortable instantly - and so is the staff. If you're looking for a quaint pretty cafe - this is your answer :)

Food - 4/5
Drinks - 4/5
Service - 5/5
Ambience - 4.5/5

My rating is only based on the location and look of this café. I'm giving it a 2 only coz that's the little bit I like about this place. The staff has some air about them . If you end up here in ur jeans they assume u don't deserve to eat here. I visited this place a few weeks ago and all I did was enter , look around and leave coz the have a very strange vibe. It's not that welcoming positive feel. If ur a café u cannot have this judgement about your customers in my opinion. Otherwise call ur self a fine dine where people feel the need to dress up . How much I am able to spend or enjoy your food cannot be assumed over me wearing a T-shirt or being casually dressed to a café ! U need to do better than that. The staff has this " we don't want to serve you " look which is very unpleasant. I'm never coming back.

Heritage Café!
Tucked away on a busy road, it's easy to miss this dainty little place. But there is no derth of name board or boards. It is an old heritage residence converted into cafe cum classy showroom of elegant crafts and handloom. Once you go through the show room, it opens out to a beautiful courtyard which doubles up as the cafe.
The decor is simple and stylish. The layout very well thought out to complement the colonial architecture. The menu offers quite a selection in both veg and non veg. The Mediterranean options were particularly good. One of the highlights is the tea options. You get to try out the highlights and then choose which infusion most appeals to your palate.
It was a wonderful evening. But I must warn you bring anti mosquito cream if you are going there towards the evening. Overall a wonderful experience!

What could i say about this beautiful home!? drove all over to reach this hidden gem..when i arrived here, I was a bit taken aback by the lowend street and neighbourhood, but upon entering the place, the old colonial home converted into a gallery with boutiques and the pretty cafe deli at the heart of it , left me struck with awe..! it had a transcedental vibe to it which was astonishing! the store in turn had a fantabulous selection of fine ware and garments..the funky soulful music in the background was haunting! One wouldn't be disappointed coming here, at the least...The resto cafe had some decent choices to make and as for the cappuccino i called for, it would say it was just about alright..

Couple of hundred meters walk from the main Commercial Street, this place is located opposite to RBANMS Ground in a Bungalow named Cinnamon, that's pretty big so you won't miss it.
Surrounded by various boutiques, this place has a certain old world charm to it. The ambiance is beautiful, with pretty flowers in huge flower pots in the middle and wooden seating arrangement around it. Walls are adorned with photos of old Bangalore and interesting paintings.
Staff was very courteous and the service was quick. We ordered the penne in creamy pesto along with cold coffee and aam panna ice tea(which i highly recommend, at least for the uniqueness).

Steep but worth every single rupee considering the ambiance.
The Bangalore Food Harem
If “not listed on google maps”, “the lack of crowd”, “best jazz playlist ever” and “extremely fresh food” has made you want to continue reading, you will be thanking us at the end of this post. We cannot begin to describe how delighted we were, to have found this little gem of a place. Café Cassia is located inside this Bungalow called ‘Cinnamon’ right next to RBANMS high school in Ulsoor. The Bungalow houses a variety of boutiques and antique shops, and smack in the middle, is the café. Everything from the ambience to the menu to the beautiful Spanish courtyard set-up will remind you of laaazy summer days when all you are required to do is shut off your brain. If you’re on a date here, trust us, it cannot be a bad date.

Coming to the menu, which although limited, is representative of quality. They serve primarily Mediterranean and Asian food (gourmet portions fyi). We tried their pita and hummus with minced lamb & almonds, the tuna glass-noodle salad, the couscous & chicken salad and the thai red curry w/ rice. Barring the tuna and noodle salad every dish was delicious (we found the tuna used to be a tad too fishy for our likes). We particularly loved the hummus, and the thai red curry. Their drinks such as the cucumber, orange and thyme cooler, the tomato, apple, celery & basil cooler were very refreshing. The desserts such as the cherry compote tart w/ orange sauce looked awfully tempting but we didn’t get the chance to try them.

On a side note, they also sell some lovely artisan breads which are again, straight-out-of-the-oven fresh (needless to say).

We went for shopping in commercial Street and wanted to sit at a quiet place for late lunch..Then found this place, just 300 mts walking distance from Mysore silk udyog. A hidden gem, I would say! It's located inside a boutique selling designer clothes, silver jewellery, figurines, home decor and what not! This cafe is right in the middle of the boutique! Ambience-4/5
Located inside an old bungalow and beautifully designed, I loved it!
Food-4/5
We ordered Thai green curry and Pita with Hummus. And it was delicious! Though we wanted to order Pita wrap but it wasn't available so had to order appetizer. But yes, if you like bland, then only you will going to like their Pita with Hummus, since it's just having spinach as topping. No other veggies....But being right near the main market yet away from the hustle and bustle of the mkt....Its a nice place ! Must go if you are in commercial Street!
Location: 4/5
Although located very close to the bustling streets of Ulsoor, the cafe is tucked away neatly in an old bungalow which cuts off the vehicle noise to a large extent.
Ambiance: 3/5
Apart from the lovely courtyard in the center of the cafe, there is not much more I could appreciate...

You won't find this by chance. This is one of those places listed in "best hidden cafes in Bangalore" kind of articles. The place is so peaceful and artsy, well it's gotta be considering it's inside a boutique. Their food is SO fresh. We ordered:
Apple walnut salad- So good. Great presentation, great taste.
Creamy herb pasta- didn't feel too fatty like most white sauce pastas. Filling. Leaves you very satisfied.

Only con is that it's a bit too expensive.

Hidden in a beautiful old mansion with an upmarket boutique in the front, Cinnamon is a treasure that offers silence and beauty in equal measure | Order: cherry compote tart with orange sauce, iced coffee, cappuccino, cafe latte and breakfast eggs with mushroom and sausage | Coffees were meh! Tart was better but doughy and sticky on the palette | Best order was the breakfast eggs. Service: staff was courteous but the order specifications didn't translate on to the plate!

Discovered yet another hidden cafe in Bangalore. A peace from the hustle of the traffic from one of the narrowest and busiest service roads in Bangalore. Located beautifully in the middle of so many boutiques gives you a feeling of being in a different place. The nalukettu style construction brings an inner courtyard which is again aesthetically decorated with bougainvilleas and small fishes inside mud pots. The menu looks very familiar for a cafe you frequently visit apart from the exclusive Mediterranean content. The grilled chicken wrap served with hummus, grilled aubergine and shredded vegetables was a feast to the taste buds. I also ordered a hot steam coffee and an iced coffee. Hot steam coffee did justice to my expectation but iced almond coffee was just another one i could grab from any other cafes around. But the addition of almond (as the menu says) gave a different perspective. Unlike the expensive boutique collection in the nearby rooms, the food is not that expensive for the space.

Recommended when you are near Ulsoor grounds / commercial street, especially when there is a quest for some peace and non-polluted space.

Amazing place! Lovely Ambience and great food! Tried their Thai curry, hummus with spinach, spaghetti and the pita wraps and they were all a hit. My personal favourite being the Thai green curry (veg). A must visit place for someone looking out for a quiet lunch around the ever bustling commercial Street!

I was around Commercial Street area and was looking for a cafe nearby where I could catch up on some work. I parked my car near Commercial Street and found that the nearest cafe was Cafe Cassia. It was walkable distance which took about 10 mins but it is not an easy place to find. This cafe is inside a place called 'Cinnamon' and there is only a small nameplate-sized board for Cafe Cassia. I couldn't even figure out the way to get in and someone guided me along the passage that leads to the cafe.

The cafe is in the middle of the store (Cinnamon) and is very quiet and interesting place. I just ordered a salad and a coffee. Both were good, just slightly expensive. I get that it is a fancy place but I still think it could be priced better.

It is a good place and I might go back if I am around the place. I wouldn't really travel all the way just to visit the cafe, though.

Cafe Cassia was on my list from quite sometime. Finally when I got a chance to visit this place, I felt it was worth the wait. Beautiful ambiance, amazing food, wonderful service and not so expensive..what more do you need :)

Love the way the place is done up..Well done guys..will definitely go back.

Fabulous food and ambience , brilliant cooking , every single dish was very well made. Service was super , the waiters told us the size of positions ( which are large ) so we ordered appropriately. Fresh ingredients for the salads and juices , try the desserts . Only downside : no wine , this quality of food with a glass of wine would be perfect
We visited this place on 28th Feb as a part of the ongoing dinefest programme. This was our first visit & it was pleasantly surprising in terms of ambience / food quality / service. We had Hummus with Pita bread and some grilled fish in the starter. For main course we shared shawarma sandwich & thai yellow curry and jasmine rice. Overall experience was satisfying; service was prompt and warm. Would like to revisit some other time with a bigger crowd and try the other items on the menu.

Amazing ambience of the place, I really loved the setting around the open courtyard. Reminded me of my europe days.
We had gone as part of the dinefest and ordered a variety of starters all of which were exceptional. The fig and tomato salad was awesome. The main course was substantially filling and was equally delicious. The deserts were a bit disappointing as would have liked the brownie to be warmed up.
Nevertheless really enjoyed the ambience as well as the food. Definitely going back!

A hidden gem! Tucked away in the most busiest of roads, this one is inconspicuously positioned in one of the oldest bungalows in Bangalore. The RBANMS bungalow which once used to be a school, orphanage and now, a galleria is simply splendid with an antique charm that old Bangaloreans would relate to. The restaurant itself set in a courtyard is elegant and charming with few well spaced out tables. Food is excellent. Loved the hummus, harissa fish, sphagetti and thai curries. When food comes from the house of Abhijit Saha, you know you're eating the best. Would highly recommend this place. And would go back there again. And again.
Shubhra Dixit
What an ambience! It's like Panjim brought Portugal into India, and Cafe Cassia brought Panjim to Bangalore.

At an odd time, hence tried only a beverage and a dessert both of which were delicious and well-priced. Earl grey lemony iced tea and a chocolate walnut fudge brownie.

Super melodious music, and a great fragrance every where. Love how there is art on the wall, on the floor and on the table. The cafe, which is in the courtyard, is surrounded by exhibits and shops all around making it appealing and quiet despite being situated in a crowded part of town.

Also, earlier I wrote this review wrongly under a different cafés name. Thanks Soulkadi for pointing it out :)

Some of the best cafes in Bangalore are those that take you away from the bustle of the city. Quaint, calming, rejuvenating, a great cafe is one where your mind can go on vacation for a few hours. Please welcome Cafe Cassia to these ranks.

Set inside Cinnamon, a bungalow housing various boutiques, the Cafe holds pride of place - the courtyard. Simply done up, the sunlight and the bougainvillea tree are decor enough.

Food was good. The roll I had was well constructed, and subtly seasoned. The dessert beautifully plated and yummy to boot. The coffee was delightfully strong, and oh so fresh.

We had the misfortune of visiting this cafe on an uncharacteristically busy afternoon, caused by an exhibition going on at the store. Or so we were told by the gracious service, apologizing for the wait. But the efficient staff, quite made up for it. Still, I'd like to visit again on a leisurely evening when I might have the place to myself, not jostled by a lunching and shopping crowd.

This is a place for solitary meals or long rambling conversations with a choice few. Few being a keyword here, this isn't a place Id recommend for a big raucous crowd.

Part of the Cinnamon Boutique that houses apparel and artefacts stores, Cafe Cassia is a breath of fresh air in the surrounding mayhem. Located on a narrow and perpetually crowded road just opposite the RBNMS grounds, the cafe located towards the back end of this restored vintage house, is an oasis of calm and you're completely cut off from the outside world. The setting is in a courtyard to which all the stores open. Them ambience is lovely for a catch up with friends or a date evening. I say evening because the cafe shuts at 8:30pm. Menu is a mix of cuisines, mostly continental with some Asian thrown in for good measure. We were three friends and to start with, we ordered the tomato basil mocktail, watermelon juice, a cup of the freshly brewed coffee and the tomato avocado crostini. I had the coffee, and having just returned from a holiday where I was deprived of good coffee, this one totally hit the spot. Strong, satisfyingly bitter with the right amount of milk. The tomato basil drink was lovely and refreshing too. The watermelon was slightly disappointing. The crostini was fresh and a good choice for starters. For mains we ordered the green bean salad, falafel pita wrap, and Thai green curry. Green curry- super tasty, would recommend. The salad- ok, could do with more dressing. Pita wrap- decent, with a tasty dip. For dessert we tried the Tiramisu. It was not moist enough, but barring that, checked all boxes.

The cafe has been such a pleasant discovery in the heart of town and I will definitely be returning for more!

Nice ambiance. Very average food and slow service. The grilled potatoes were undercooked, didn't expect such from this kinda place. Bill didn't show tax component separately but was included in the price, something I found weird !

Cosily tucked into Cinnamon art gallery* Cafe Cassia has all the ingredients of a classic in the making. The setting put us at ease immediately and we were excited to try out their menu. We started with cream of veg soup. It was very homely and well seasoned, the baguette slices were nice too. Next we got the falafel wrap and BLT sandwich both were excellent. The falafel was perfect - crisp on the outside and moist on the inside - went very well with the fresh vegetables in the wrap. The sides of roasted baby potatoes and garlic yoghurt were incredible too. We will surely be going back for more.

The first thing that strikes you about the cafe is its setting. Its beautiful! It is inside an old bungalow and is actually in its courtyard - so it has a completely open air feel to it. You can see the sky and the trees that are a part of the bungalow, so you never feel that you are actually inside the bungalow.

The staff is courteous and friendly. They don't rush you, so if you are taking some quite time out with your significant other, you'd enjoy their service. That, along with the ambiance alone is worth a visit.

The food was decent - they don't have a huge menu, which makes choices easier. We had the hummus and pita bread - the pita bread could have been a little thicker (it almost felt like a piece of rumali roti). The hummus was great.

We followed it with Pasta and a sandwich - both were decent, though not outstanding.

We had a lemon tart for dessert - it was a tad too sweet for my liking, but wasn't too bad.

Overall, I'd say food is 3.5/5 and ambiance and service is 5/5 - hence the 4/0 rating.
