Review Sanjay Punjabi Dhaba - Bengaluru

G.S Bhogal
All time best hangout Place. Good to Bachelors or sitting. Family or with ladies I will not recommend, but can go if you are okay. Quality of Food to good, they are willing to customise.

An old timer Dhaba which now ends up within the expanded city limits. Extremely high value and their food quality continues to remain the same (over an observable 25 year period). The old favorites are their Chilly Chicken and Chicken 65 along with the staple Tandoori. Served piping hot and fairly quick makes it an instant hit. Servers are efficient and very attentive. Ambience isn't much of you're looking to impress someone with glitz. Impress them with the food and plain simple nostalgia. Hygiene isn't their high points, probably just about acceptable. Ample parking is available for both cars and two wheelers. Use the inner lanes from Dassarahalli Main Road to enter.

Very good and tasty food with partly open type dinning area. Overall experience was very good except the toilets. Cleanliness of wash room / toilet should be improved.

Food is tasty and fulfilling also don't expect any good ambience and professional services only you can consider this restaurant for good food.

Dear Bengalurians, This is my all time favourite dhaba in Bangalore till now. I visited here three times. It has two shades for both family and bachelor to have delicious food 🤤 and drinks 🍷 Specially, I like😋 Sanjay SPL dry, spicy 🔥 egg and Chik 65. I would to visit again and again. Raju Bhai thanks 🙏 serving.

Was a customer bw 2006 to 2009, after long i went today, meals and customer services are good and same as earlier... this branch they opened newly, with huge space along with good parking facilities.

Authentic Punjabi Dhaba style food, great taste and great staff, unlimited sale with food is what a Dhaba always offers, Veg or Non veg this place will satisfy your tummy needs. Must try is Dal Tadka, Fish fingers, Chicken Tikka, Paneer Tikka, Kashmiri Pulav, Mutton Britani.

It's one of the oldest Dhabas that has stood the test of time. While most Dhabas have disappeared, this one not only exists, it is thriving as well Loved the Sanjay Veg gravy with rotis
Aswath Raman
Good tasty food, decent prices and pleasant staff. Don’t expect a good ambience. Rather expect good food. You won’t be disappointed.

Food is good and restaurant is near and clean. We ordered chicken sizzler and it's tasty. Only problem I found here is that people come with family and they are taking alcohol. So my request to the owner is to provide separate space for those alcohol people.

Had heard a lot about the place from local friends who visited Sanjay Dhaba during their college. Was a bit skeptical if it will live up to the expectations.. but it surely did. A must visit for it's starters only.. main course is okaish.. but amazing starters. Had a recommended dish, lemon chicken. Strangely no mutton on the menu.

Menu could be more widened

Nice place to get great, tasty food. Must try Baby corn pepper fry, dal tadaka, lime soda.
Ramya Ramachandran
Worst food. One of the basic Indian foods (Jeera rice) and I can't begin to explain how pathetic the food was and they claim themselves Dhaba. I have never written a review before. But seriously it looks like the restaurant just sent us yesterday's leftovers. I don't know who rated a 4 for this restaurant. I am sorry that I had to write a bad review, but really hope you guys can work towards improving your standards.

In case you are looking out for an authentic punjabi dhaba in Bangalore, there is nothing better than Sanjay dhaba. Their non-veg kababs and butter roti is terrific!
The food is served on steel plate, giving that dhaba style feeling. Boneless lemon chicken, pepper chicken, garlic chicken and pepper mushroom is awesome!! There is a different level of satisfaction in putting those succulent spice coated chicken morsels into your mouth using toothpick. Aaah!! I love the simplicity of ambience that they have maintained over years even after running their business so successfully. It's a must visit kinda outlet in Sahakarnagar area.
Karishma
Unhygienic place with no authentic Punjabi flavor in any of their dishes.
There is just lot of color in all their dishes and no taste. Had food here twice only to upset my stomach both the time.
Not recommended !!

Ordered online roti and palak. Roti was good, full marks. Palak was loaded with so much food colour that I wondered is it food or holi ka rang. Very unhealthy and very unappetizing.
Edit: Attaching photos as the restaurant staff is asking for proof.
That entire block was just artificial green color substance without any palak.

Can't say word about the food amphal mouth watering flavours from Himachal ..go to place for a get together with an connect of nature all in all supern
Sushil Gupta
Worst food. No taste. Food has no punjabi taste. Total south indian food style. Mushroom was ordered, we received orange carrot and capsicum. Dal makhni was ordered, it was full of rajma. Asked for less spicy, we received full spicy. Not worth to order from this place.

Anupama Bhat
one buttermilk from our order was missing

Suffered from food poisoning TWICE out of three visits here.the taste and overall food is good BUT negative point is hygiene. Please improve on this part.
FoodGasm 🤤
Authentic punjabi dhaba style food. Not oily and not loaded with food colours unlike most of the dhabas. Dal fry is a must try here.

Food - 5/5
Service - 3/5
Looking for a cheap and budget friendly, then this is the place for good Punjabi types food. Palak paneer any day. Just love the way they prepare it. Any dish for that matter they are good. The restaurant is been serving since 30+ yrs.

I visit this place very often and the food over here is too good. Basically I'm from Maharashtra and I struggled to find a good food place but the taste Wht I got over here is the one what I was looking for. Good food n service

Packaging needs to be changed for different items. We ordered mushroom dry, because of packaging done in cover it was not dry and tasted very bad.
Amritesh Madhur
I would not recommend this place for Punjabi food lover. I had ordered keeping in mind typical Punjabi food joint as the name suggest. My order read as Punjabi chicken , aalo matar, daal fry, aalo paratha, jeera rice and Gobi Manchurian. Apart from paratha none of the item was fresh, it tasted like an old preparation, taste was not at all Punjabi. I was disappointed felt like wasting 800 bucks .. Definitely not Punjabi or North India n taste

This place has been a regular in our food escapades for over a decade now... And still makes a strong point...

The ambience is very dhaba-ish... Individual spaces seating 6 to 7 at a time... And the first floor has a more hotel setup with a few partitions

Service was good before... Now it's a tad irritating with the waiter not always registering what u say. Also booze isn't available in house... They get it from a bar ahead and not always will u get what u want...

Food- the lemon chicken is a absolute delight... Extremely well made... Great flavours.... And a mouth watering semi gravy consistency...
The pepper chicken had more coriander than pepper...
Egg chilli, gobi Manchurian were all good...

Roti, naan and kulcha are all served hot .. and are soft...
The chicken and paneer butter masala were good... The kadai chicken was a downer...

Biryani is good on quantity and tasty with some large pieces....

All starters and gravies are served in portions of quarter, half and full...

He expects you to pay for the booze by cash...

Bon Appetit

I have been regular to this place for over 8 years, a great place for family lunch outing with some tasty punjabi food. Our usuals are Sanjay special which is sumptuous and also chicken tikka are soft and tender. Would suggest this place any day while you are in and around Hebbal.

Cons- chicken gravy items aren’t that great, would suggest to try shahi paneer and dal tadka.

Bole toh ekdum paaket friendly Dhaaba style wala khaana ! Dal fry was really good.. Paneer do pyaazaa was just nice! Overall good food and value for money!
RAMAKRISHNA S
The food was very very oily and of very poor taste. We had very great expectations which were left completely unfulfilled.

Please be sure that you don't order any dishes gravy based as all you will get is oil.
Nihal Konan
Excellent food. Amazing place and wonderful taste. I have been eating food here many times from past 10 years. Order palak paneer and roti. It's the best
Neha Garg
Very nice place,yummy dhaba food
U can satiate your taste buds with authentic punjabi food. The dal makhani & dal tadka are to die for
A simple yummy meal which will make you crave for more & more
Not to forget light on ur wallets too

Be on the safe side. Stick to Roti, dal and lassi. The chicken and the paneer gravies we ordered tasted just bad.

Service was quick and no frills, no fuss. Value for money if you order any of the three items listed above. That would have been fine had this been a highway dhaba, but the town has caught up with it. Time to improve!
Kartik S
Overrated place. If you are from the North like me, you won't find this anywhere near the taste of Dhabas in Northern India, interestingly the owner and the staff is from the North yet their food tastes bad. One star for the taste and hygiene and ambience too.
Suraj P
Must visit. They make some of the delicious Punjabi dishes. Though the place doesn't look very tidy, the kitchen is sparkling clean. The management is down to earth and treat you well. The food is seriously value for money.
Sandeep Chakraborty
For food I will rate 3 but an additional star for the no fuss meal that Dhabas are known for country wide. If you are looking for a pocket friendly delicious meal, without the overly sweetened attempts to please customer, this is the place. Food is decent, not bad at all. Don't expect quality that will make you travel to Amritsar once you take a bite. At the same time 400 bucks for roti, butter chicken, chicken biryani and Lassi is a great deal for 2 people. Fast service.
Pavan Rudramuni
very Poor quality of food,They do not maintain proper hygiene, people Don't go to this place and fall sick.I think they use very cheap level food material
MAYANK PARASRAMPURIA
Fine place, not too great in terms of ambience or food.
Their food over time started getting influenced by south. Gives u a dhaba feel, food is fine, not too great.
Beausha Raj
I donno wat is soo punjabi about this dabha. Butter chicken was like an ordinary curry.
Raj ka chula is way more north indian and punjabi compared to this restaurant.
Priya Priyadarshini
I went here for a lunch. The place is quite big with different seating arrangement. The food is very good though you won't get a lot of options as it happens in a typical Shana. However the price and quality is good.
Kanishk Ravindran
Food soo soo good that it blows your mind away. A regular customer for the past 18years and the food never tends to dissappoint me. Must try is chicken 65 and chicken tikka. The service is prompt and friendly. Overall an amazing experience.
Vinay Ahuja
The minute you enter this place, there is a stong and pungent smell from the kitchen, that happens to be right next to the entrance to the dhaba. In general, I noticed that their food is quite oily. That said, don't expect any swanky seating arrangements or for that matter a dining experience of sorts. All you will get is food, and that's about it. Speaking of food, apart from it being full of oil, it is quite edible and isn't something that cannot be stomached. The only good part here is their pricing, a decent meal for two under 500 rupees, If that's your calling!
Rasika Divekar
I had been here with my friends for my birthday!! It's a Pakka Punjabi type of Restaurant. I liked the food here. The rotis were very nice, and they have seating also in Punjabi style. I liked it for its closeness to my home, a good ambience and Punjabi food! 💙
Vipul
There is nothing so Punjabi about this dhaba. A decent experience here with average food in which we tried the dal makhani which was not expectedly punjabi flavoured and tried the kadhai paneer which was good and spicy but the paneer butter masala was too sweet than our expectations. The place does not offer much ambience and the only part is that the is economic and near the highway so is convenient for many travellers. The place has separate drinks area which is a plus point as it caters family crowd separately.
Food:3/5
Ambience:2/5
Cost:3.5/5
Aamir Siddiqui
Positives:
Homelike taste
Pricing
Ambiance is comfortable and decent given the overall deal

Negatives:
Similar taste for almost all gravy.
Service and staff unprofessional
Doesn’t come across as too hygienic, don’t try peeping in towards the kitchen.
Aashish Pathania
The staff is very humble and polite. They are very quick to serve the delicious food. Must say it’s good value for money. One of the best punjabi food dhaba at Bangalore.
Ds.preeti
We get the good non veg and veg food here. It’s a value for money. Food is tasty and quantity of food is more so you can always enjoy this part. We get the best dhaba feeling inside the city. Ambiance is good and staff and service is ok. Only one thing is that they have increase the staff service more, I mean the waiting time to get attended is more
Rohan Saha
It is always an treat to have food in this dhaba..its been 30 years old still running and mantaing its good quality..more over the quantity is quite good and is very cheap.service and cutesy are good.try this dhaba once.🖒

The best paneer tikka masala i've ever had....just superb. Loved the authentic masala flavour and beautiful tandoori roti.... definitely try out...
Arjun Lakshmana Balaji
This place is very unassuming. Simple and not so clean. The wait staff are eager n courteous. We went here for a casual outing. The prices are cheap and not pricey. We were 11 people. Ordered chicken and veg starters. Loved the baby corn and paneer pepper dry. The egg pakoda n onion pakoda were good too.

Maharaja chicken dry and tandoori chicken kebab was ordered.

The main course - roti (soft fluffy and nice)
Naan - well done and buttery

Veg main course - paneer do pyaza and Sanjay special

Non veg main course - chicken kadai

Paneer fried rice was just average.

Overall a decent place with decent food.

Good Food. Good Service.
It gives the feeling of a road side Dhaba. Mostly because of the food. Everything is fresh, hot and authentic Dhaba style presentation and taste.

Recommended : Dallas Tadka and Sanjay Special Chicken.
Titiksha
I must say that the place was really good.
It's the kind of place that you can go with your friends and peacefully sit and eat and have a good laugh.

The staff is good and the food is totally worth the money. Standouts for me were the Chicken fried rice and the kolapuri chicken and in veg baby corn Manchurian and everything that had paneer.

Anyone looking to sit and have a good meal especially in a good weather, this place is the perfect place to go to. 👌👌
Vinay Kale
I am a frequent visitor here, Pepper chicken dry is the best one here!
Lemon chicken is the second best food available here.
Keep up the same taste!
Kavya Rao
Place was pretty decent. We went there for old time's sake but it's completely changed.

Food:
Masala papad: nice crispy and spicy

Mushroom pepper dry: this was different, more like mushroom pakoda .. batter fried mushroom with a lot of crispy curry leaves

Roti - was made of maida, not wheat

Butter naan and butter kulcha - honestly not mu@ch difference between all of them except the butter part

Paneer burji - this was nice, however initially it was a little bland. We then realized that it wasn't mixed well.

Dal fry- okay. Not great, really bland.

Buttermilk- excellent

All in all, it costed us 560 rupees for this much which is good vfm

Will I visit again? May not be. Nothing that would pull me back there.

Perfect place to have a wholesome lunch when you are craving for one. Went here for lunch today and after going through all that traffic, it was totally worth it.
We ordered Onion Pakoras which were crispy and served with a mint chutney. For starters we ordered, chicken manchurian (semi gravy) which was tangy and chicken kebabs which were light and scrunchy. They weren't too oily either.
For main course we picked normal naan served with Butter chicken masala and Hyderabadi chicken gravy which were delicious. It was easily the best naan i've had in a really long time.
We also ended up ordering egg fried rice which was filling and equally good.
For beverages we tried Lassi and Lime soda which was refreshing.
We traveled almost 20 kms to try out this place but it was totally worth it.
Those who are in and around this area, do try out this place!
Ambience : 3
Food : 5
Service : 4.5
Ashish Parmar
Been going here past 20 yrs. The food is very homely and the taste has not changed at all. Great value for money food. The dal tadka and tandoori roti combination is an absolute winner!!!
Saurabh Acharya
Indeed dhaba feeling in terms of ambience and food quality, food was quiet good specially North Indian dishes. If Prices could have been on bit lower side than I might have rated 4.
AkankshaP
We dropped by this place at sunday afternoon to grab a quick desi meal and I kust say it was the right pick. Entering the place you wont expect must but thats what is surprise element. Its got typical dhaba type sitting and cutlery. We ordered mushroom pepper dry, paneer chilly, bundi raita, kaju masala, palak paneer, tondoori roti and laccha pratha. Starters turned out to be amazing and main course did not disapoint. The only item which one can dislike is all rotis are made up of maida which they will honestly mention while taking order. I think they can improve on breads and delivefy part, else they are serving great. Service is also very fast and you dont have wait endlessly for hogging on some delicious food. I would rate it-

food-4
ambience-3
service-4
value for money-4

Are there two similar named dhabas in same place? Pics and menu point to different places.going by the menu my review is below.

Location:2.5/5 not so visible.

Ambience:3/5 casual and meant for relaxation

Service:3/5 decent but then we went in when we were the only customers.

Food and pricing: 4.5/5
Food is excellent but quantity varies when ordering vs eating in. Pricing isnt exactly cheap but compared to the usual team lunch destinations, its way cheaper.

Must try veg dishes are the dal tadka and the famous mushroom pepper dry. Even hardcore non-veggies were hogging multiple plates of these. Beware..no one can just eat one ...

This is one of the Dhaba on the Airport road which has been around 30 years. It’s a place that has survived, all the road expansions and desire to make every area a concrete jungle. The place is located very close to Hebbal and has the looks of a typical dhaba that we can get on the highway. The road is it located is now called the Airport road, is also the Bangalore – Hyderabad Highway or the Bellary Road. I recently went to this place to have my afternoon lunch and was quite impressed. Let me share my experience.

Location

The restaurant is on the Airport road but unless you know it clearly, there is every chance of missing it. I will give the direction from the Hebbal Flyover over. Soon after you get down from the flyover or enter the Airport road from Yeshwantpur side, you will need keep to the left. For reference, Aster CMI hospital comes to the left side. Then you drive up to the Sahakarnagar signal below the flyover, where you will need to keep to the right side. Take right turn at the signal and then enter the service road. Dhaba can be seen to the right side.

Ambiance

The restaurant has green cover from outside and the board is also slightly covered in greenery. You enter into the restaurant and can find plenty of tree under which is the 2-wheeler parking. If you are coming on 4-wheeler, you can keep the car in the service lane. There are plenty of 4-seat tables. They also have the traditional ‘khatiya / cot’ that is found in the Highways Dhabas. Each of them have a wooden plank where the food can be kept. The place is clean with washbasin and there is also soap. There is nothing more to say about the interiors.

Food

This is a restaurant that opens at 11am and closes by 11pm. The menu is fixed and you get food throughout the day. It’s the ideal place for anyone looking to have early breakfast or late lunch. I went there to have my late-lunch.

Palak Paneer – This is one of my favourite dishes and they did a great job with it. I could feel the taste of the Palak / Spinach in the subji. The paneer was also soft and the taste reminded me of how we make it at home.

Aloo Paratha – A pretty good paratha that had decent amount of Potato/Aloo. It wasn’t thick like at many places but just right. The taste was quite good with the pickle.

Raita – Combination of cucumber, onions, tomato, green chillies, curds and bit of masala is the perfect raita one can get. The taste was seemed to be like a desert.

Salads – One thing that I love about the food at the Dhaba is the salads. It is usually a combination of cut pieces of Cucumber and Onions along with lemon. They sprinkle some salt, pepper and masala powder which is the best appetizer.

Overall Experience

This is one of the best dhaba I have eaten in a long time. The taste is quite close to one of my favourite Dhaba on the Bangalore – Pune highway. The taste of the food was pretty good and service was also spot on. Interiors have been kept quite clean and it has decent ventilation. I recommend this place for going out with friends and family. I rate my current experience at 4.0/5.

Rating in other departments.

Food – 4.0/5

Service – 4.0/5

Ambiance – 4.0/5

Drinks – 4.0/5

Food for 2 at this place will cost anywhere between INR 400-500.
Aparna
They do have place outside to park and a security guard to help with it. Seating is semi outdoor to indoor nothing much to write about a typical dhabha ambience. Staff are very friendly and service very fast.

Food is a terrible let down. Both starters paneer chilly and egg 65 were floating in oil and were semi gravy not like how a starter should be. Veg kholapuri was very average. Tandoori roti was pure maida. Buttermilk was good.

It was real pocket friendly but why would one want to pay even a rupee for terrible food. Will never visit again

An amazing place that serves mouth watering food, always been a fan of Dhabba food and here is a classy one. Tried the Punjabi chicken which is a must try along with garlic naan and Sanjay special chicken.. overall an amazing experience

Anywhere around sahakarnagar or towards airport! Chuck all those expensive dhabas where u can afford fanatastic service and taste here.Dont miss around. Three beer 🍻 two veg starter and 5 rotis costed around 1105.🕺🏻yeah true .. price comes with the taste.DONT miss tha desi dhaba🍾
Suryakiran S
It's very good.. prices r reasonable.. typical dhaba feeling.. commuters ND tourers taking the Hyderabad highway must check out this dhaba.. food is very tasty.. mosquitos ND ambience needs to be checked for 1.5 points
Manaswini Sarangi
I am giving 4 star rating to this place because of the memories I have had at this dhaba. I was a vegetarian back then when we used to go to this place. And the waiter had known over time what to get for me exactly. Finally he would come to the table after delivering all the non veg items for my group and then serve me mine saying 'ye lo madam aapka ghas phus' well the food was decent for the amount paid.
Aarti Mansukhani
This was the second time came here for dinner. Chicken dishes are the best to try. Make sure to inform before hand about how much spicy you want the dish. Must try the lassi/butter milk. Ambience not that great.
TM
I am a big fan of dhaba food and won't miss out on any chance in trying them. A friend of mine likes Sanjay dhaba from his college days and suggested this place for lunch.
This place looks dingy from outside but has a separate family section which is decent enough for a quick lunch. The service was very quick. We ordered quarter plate of French chicken and kabab which were both good. Butter naan was one of the best I have had. Butter chicken was not even close to what a butter chicken should taste like. The price is always the best part of dhabas, doesn't burn a hole in your pocket.
Overall, an option for dhaba food but there are many more dhabas within the city which are way better than this place.

Food - 3.5
Value for money - 4
Service - 4
Ambience - 1
Shruthi N K (mytastebudstories)
I ve been to this place Many times since it was on d way to my college. The best thing u can eat here is Sanjay special. The place never disappoints me. Ambience is pretty okay. Food 4 out of 5. Veg starters are tasty. Service 3.5 out of 5. Pocket friendly. Prices are reasonable. Worth visiting for a casual dinning with family and friends.
Food Lover
We had been here on a Friday... it wasn't crowded and they were huge lizards I mean really big in size which is really scary and u will not be able to have food. But still we wanted to try food we ordered pepper mushroom, potato, paneer butter masala and kulcha. All were salty we say it was really salty no other taste not worth food for what you pay not good place for family. Highly Not recommended.
Priyabrata Naik
This dhaba situated in sahakarnagar which is approx 2km away from Hebbal signal on right side.more hygienic place then expected and comfortable seating with some Charolais as in typical dhaba.coming in to the food I need to mention specifically daltadka and chilly paneer ,these are so yumm and tasty I can't describe it in words.quality of rice was not that good but overally awsm food. Friendly staffs and quick service makes this place a must go in Bangalore 👍🏻
Sonia
This was like one of those weekend afternoon when Tastebuds denied eating anything but something spicy and desi from Dhaba. We went with Family for lunch and place was quite comfortable (do remember it's a dhaba). We tried crispy corn, dal tadka, fried rice, palak paneer and everything was tasty. Very good staff and don't forgot to try Pan.
Karthik K
This place is located next to brigade magnum near kodigenalli signal. Did not expect this place to be super hygiene, but not bad. Pocket friendly place, chicken dishes are tasty. Don't miss chicken 65 and pepper chicken. Khushka which is basically biriyani rice is a average. Service is a bit slow. Crowd is on the higher side during weekend. Overall a good place to relax over the weekend with your buddies.

Burrrrrraaaaaahhh.. !! Wah maja aa gaya... What a tasty food. If u really love Punjabi food then I think this is the one of the best place in Bangalore.

A decent ambience! Prompt staffs! The dal taste is really good! I ordered for masala papad very nice and I loved the Punjabi lassi - very very tasty!
The prices are really pocket friendly - does not burn our pockets

Cheers 🍻
Tanu Jain
Ambience wasn't great! Food was spicy and okay. As of a dhaba, the taste wasn't upto the mark. Although the service was good, for the dishes, gravy tasted the same!
Ashish Kumar
Dal tadka and sanjay special chicken is my favourite here , I'm frequent visitor to this place. It's a casual dinning place with average service and dhaba style .
Moti Mahesh
Bad food quality , very bad staff behavior , overall really sorry but it's a never again visit for me !! The management doesn't really care as the main business is through alcohol..
Phenomenal World
After a disastrous party we found ourselves searching for a place to hog around Yelahanka…. Finally zomato showed me Sanjay Dhaba when we were on our way to Hebbal. It looked small and dingy from outside but surprised us as we went in.. There are separate places for family and the liquor section… Quite a few families could be seen around 10:30 – 11:00 when we went there. They also had a khatiya (bed with straw mattresses) arrangement which suited us a good deal. To find this in city, priceless
Abhishek Singh
Love the days when use to go there in a group. Dal tadka was the best item anyone can have there. Even non veg items were considered lower than the beloved daal tadka. A perfect combination with all the items and that could also work like chakhna 😀. They have 2 branches, one on main road whereas the second one inside the street. Both serves authentic north Indian food items. Would like to visit again.
Gourav Telang
I have been to many better dhabas thn this. These ppl have failed to keep that dhabawals image. Firat of all it don't look like dhaba nor taste like dhaba. Thr lemon chicken was too tangy. Biryani wasnt great. Lassi was okay but not that thick. Didn't have a great experience here.
Hemanth R
The place is best known for its Roti and liver curry. The food is tasty, service quick.
Place is maintained very shabbily.
Not recommended for family
Alcohol served here and starters are good.
Service bit tardy, very noisy place with cheap crowd

One of the best dhaba in Bangalore compare to other dhaba on BIA road , awesome food i tried chicken 65 n chicken masala it was very tasty !
Ujjwal Pendharkar
One of the best dhabas in and around Hebbal!
The best dishes to order ( according to me) are Palak Paneer, Kaju Masala, Babycorn Manchurian and not to forget Punjabi Chicken Masala.
Ambience is great, outdoor sitting is great except for a few annoying mosquitos.
Be ready to wait during rush hours and order your refill well in advance so that u dont have to wait long.

Also dont expect high standard of hygiene from this place.

Overall a good place to dine and you can head out with your pocket heavy.
Kamal Artwani
I have been visiting this place from the last 20 years. They have two branches in the same locality one is specific for families called Sanjay Food Junction.
It is an awesome place for people who love North Indian cusine.
I have tried all the dishes here, the quality, quantity and taste have been consistent.
Dal Tadka. Dal Fry, Chicken Do Pyaza, Masala Rice, Jeera Rice and Punjabi Chicken are worth a try in the main course.
The onion pakoda and lemon chicken are the best starters.
Cost effective place, with a dhaba set up and hence, please do not expect a fine dine experience.
Just over hyped!!! Food was oily and tasted bitter. There were drunkards bumping on you when you enter this place, as they allow people to carry booze along inside. I would never visit this place

Its very near from the airport road side...We were around 20 people...
SPD is a mixed bag. Good food, average setup, courteous staff....
Advantage of this dhaba is you can take ur drink from outside and have it there...

Worst place for Veg food. (The rating is only for decent breads, decent paneer manchurian starter and good lassi)
All the curries were super spicy with no other taste than that of chilly. We ordered:
Paneer Kofta - The only bearable gravy, still very bad compared to paneer kofta anywhere else
Veg Kolhapuri - a spice bomb(we were warned), but we were expecting taste other than green chillies
Shahi Paneer - Same gravy as paneer kofta, no creativity whatsoever.
Seating and ambience was like a road-side dhabha. Service was good.

This place is really good if you are running short on budget....the food served is really good.....the service is fast....you can dine in a proper traditional desi style
Cons:
1. Crowd is not that great
2. Staff members are not that supportive

No frills place exactly the way a dhaba is. One of the oldest in this locality. For years they have been serving the best of Chicken kebabs ( oil fry and tandoor), dals, Chicken gravies, rotis. Very much pocket friendly. But will not suggest it for a dine out with family. Nice for take away.

Arguably the best dhaba in and around the locality!
A typical Indian roadside dabha.
The dishes are simple yet very delicious.
You must try out their Sanjay Special which is the best thing one can have there.
Any breads you order with butter like butter naan, butter roti or butter kulcha, etc. Will be literally dipped in butter and bought to you not just glazed.
To sum it all up- Pocket friendly, good service, great taste, average ambience.

Located on the highway, SPD is a mixed bag. Good food, average setup, courteous staff. The place offers best Punjabi food in the Sahakar nagar and surrounding areas. The parathas and some curries are really good. Shame that they have no home delivery option as it would have really helped them.

Food: North Indian Dhaba style. Heavy on masalas.

Ambience and service: Ambience is quite basic with charpoys as well to give you that rustic feeling. Service is quick.

Overall experience – 8/10.

Meal for two: 300-400 bucks.

Hygiene – 7/10. It's a Dhaba so a little on the rough side.

For some of us the quintessential Dhaba is always on a highway, serves good food which delivers that punch (read high on masalas), the ambience with charpoys and nothing apart from that to make you feel special yet where the feel good factor is at its highest. Sanjay Punjabi Dhaba is definitely one place you would like to be if you subscribe to this school of thought.

The ambience is basic as it gets. The charpoys are perhaps an attraction but not during a sunny afternoon or a rainy evening as they are placed in the open. The area surrounding the charpoys has decent tables and chairs. Hygiene is just about up to the mark. Food is served in about 10 to 15 minutes. I believe that Dhaba food is sort of synonymous with Street Food. So please bare that in mind.

We started off with a Lassi. It wasn’t too thick but was sweetened perfectly. If you are there a hot afternoon you wouldn’t want to miss it. The Babycorn Pepper Dry was crunchy and is definitely a must try. The pepper came in very well and the fried curry leaves and green chilies added a spark to it which was unparalled. For Main Course it was a Panner Tikka Masala, a few Rotis and Kulchas. The Panner Tikka masala was strong on masalas and spicy. Rotis and Kulchas were amazingly done and served piping hot. Gravy portions are usually quite large, especially when it is only two persons who are sharing it.

Nice Punjabi style setup..affordable..evening's the best time to visit..apparently they sell alcohol too for a little extra price..but I found the food to be a bit dull for my taste..the curries were missing something, that just made it feel very plain..

This place is like any other dhaba with decent north Indian food at less cost. I had tried this place many times. Since its very to the main road he generally prefer this place when we are looking for quick bite.

The Sanjay Special chicken here is one the very best I have had. And that's all :)
A pretty decent setup and good for Indian gravies and butter naans annd Lassi.
A long drive on a sunday afternoon got me to this quaint and rusty looking punjabi dhaba. Machans in the vicinity and punjabi speaking staff transcends you to your typical highway dhaba.

Started of with a plate of paneer tikka. Its frustrating that the cooks fail to marinate the paneer long enough. The flavour and aroma is felt only on the outside and really doesn't reach the middle.

Then we went for The malai kofta and dal makhani. Malai kofta was made well. The right amount of spice and sweetness coupled with freshly cut chillies and stuffed potatoes made this dish worth its weight.

The dal makhani was not rich in butter and ghee hence light on the stomach. Boiled rajma and black dal with onions, chillies etc was good on the taste buds and perfect with the butter naan.

The butter naan was perfectly made and a few restaurants can take tips from this dhaba on how to execute a perfect naan.

Then we ordered the veg biryani more like the veg pulao. Alot of french beans and just a sprinkle of other veggies. Your average pulao with nothing worth mentioning about.

All in all a great place and a perfect stop over after a long drive.

Menu: Since Punjabi dhaba obviously the spread is typical north Indian. They have kababs, curry options in chicken, paneer and vegetables. Rice and Indian breads to go with. The place doesn't serve alcohol. We tried Garlic Chicken and Paneer Pakoda in starters. Both of them were really good. Main course, Kolhapuri Chicken and Paneer Kadai was a little disappointing, though the Dal fry was really good. 3.5/5

Ambiance: They have tried to give it a Dhaba feel with khats but since its a close area the effect doesn't really work. Also the khats are a little too close to each other. 3/5

Staff: They are not very efficient nor very aware of the menu items. Given the kind of place a lot of etiquettes were not expected yet they fail to show their inclination towards providing a good service. 2.5/5

Value for Money: The place is cheap, really cheap. A dinner for 4 with starters and cold drinks cost us 1100 and food was so much that we had to get the leftover packed. So even with dismal staff and ambiance, the place is a good value for money.

Always loved it. And forever will. When we first shifted to this year about 10 years ago, this was one the only place we could actually find.
Being a vegetarian, I highly recommend dal makhni, palak paneer, pakoda, fried potato starter, jeera rice and the lassi.
Try avoiding the some paneer dishes as the gravy isn't very rich.
I feel that the quality has reduced a little. But however, I still love the taste.
The waiters are very friendly and the service is quick. :D

Ambience- 3.5/5
Food- 4/5
Service- 4.5/5
Price- 4.5/5

It's Dhaba like experience, prices are very affordable...do not forget to try Lassi...its really good. Dal and Tandoori roti along with Kababs is a awesome combination to try there

Great food at rock bottom prices. The service is really good and having been here regularly I know a few waiters so they take the liberty to customize the order to my liking. Anda burji, dal fry and panneer kadai are my favorite here. I have had some few other dishes and they are quite nice too. The buttermilk is good as well. Overall it's great VFM and celebration to the tongue.

Ordered food looking at earlier reviews. However it turned out to be wrong decision. Puneer butter masala: Puneer was very hard. Base gravy wasnt good. Mughlai chicken: chicken was rubbery and not good quality meat. Gobi 65 was ok.

Oh what tasty food this place serves you, every time. We used to visit Sanjay punjabi Dhaba once every week when I used to stay at Sahakaranagar. The food is really yum and the portions are good enough. The staff is friendly and you can taste authentic North Indian food here. Their jalebis were a delight too.

Located next to the Indian Oil Pump near Kodeigehalli signal, this is a legendary place for those who have been travelling through this road since it was still a two-lane dirty highway and not the swanky International Airport road how it boasts today. The road widening has led to this popular dhaba (yes, it's not just in the name) to shrink to the half it's size. Those who have visited - their kitchen spawned to the limits of current sitting area and earlier they had a typical dhaba-style open seating area covering space upto the current flyover! Huge!!

Owners have been running this dhaba/restaurant for more than 25 years now. They hail from the hills of Himachal and know exactly what the masses want in terms of authentic punjabi food. Service is ok and so is the ambiance. Do not dine in if you are fond of super-hygiene, crave for nice ambiance, good service and are fussy about the calorie content. This is just about the taste!

This place serves some amazing veg and non veg preparations. To name a few - Tandoori chicken, Chicken Tikka, Kalmi Kabab, Tandoori Gobi, Veg/Gobi Manchurian, Paneer-based punjabi varieties such as Paneer lababdar, Paneer kadai, Paneer tikka masala, etc. Their kababs are really tasty. I would also recommend Sanjay Spl Chicken and Chicken Punjabi.

Happy tummy, delighted tastebuds and jovial wallet make it hard to worry about other fringe but important matters that will drive certain class of people away from the place. But who cares? They have happy patrons who have been loyal for more than 10 years (and new patrons like me who care a damn about other things when the taste rules the game...)

==========| MyVerdict |==========|

Taste buds:
4
Ambiance/Vibe: 2

Service:
3
Menu Options: 2.5

Dime’s Worth:
4.5
Happiness Meter: 4

USP:
Authentic dhaba taste!

***************************************************

***************************************************

Have heard this place from many people especially college goers about a perfect place to hang out with friends gossips and smoke n liquor. Finally decided to give a visit on the way to airport. Got to know they have changed their location and now moved just adjacent to highway, bcoz of which now it is attracting a different crowd normally rowdy's.

At first sight only thought like this place is not for family although it has a area for family. Drinks area is not clean very smoky. No open space of huts like normally dhabas use to be. Service was fast and we ordered their most famous dish sanjay special chicken dry which was a combination of kebab, chicken chilly base along with mughlai type grated egg. And this was a totally new dish I had after a long time full Marks to it. Punjabi chicken masala boneless was good but paneer curries were not upto expectations.

Hot favorite in any dhaba "the lassi" was a total failure.

Food - 4,
Ambience - 2,
Price - 3.5
Value - 3,
Location and accessibility - 3.5
