Had been to lot of Davanagere Benne Dosa places in and around Bengaluru. But this place caught my attention 🤩😍, coz here they use natural methods to make dosa. Mainly, the Butter Masala Dosa was bliss 😋🤩👌👌. When it comes to open dosa, there were 3 layers of Butter which already made the dosa tasty and the powder he added was next level tastier 👌👌. This was the best benne dosa I had till date 😍👌👌🤙
Its a nice little place which gives a feel of eating Dosa with butter. We were in a hurry but the staff was happy to accommodate and do the service. Delicious food and their house special dosa is surely worth a try.

This place serves the best benne dose in Bengaluru since decades! One of the best benne dose I have tasted in my life! The doseys are made on a wood fired pan & served with a generous amount of benne and it just melts in your mouth! The spicy chutney and the mashed potato which they serve along with it is delicious! Their paddus and other items also taste really good! Many Sandalwood film stars have visited this place to savour their benne doses & the photos are displayed inside the restaurant. A must visit place if you are a foodie in Bengaluru!
Tasty benne and khali benne dose..Seating area needs improvement . Situated next to jp nagar metro station. Dose is cooked using woodfire. Nice place for a quick self service joint.
Awesome wood fire dose, awesome quantity benne, awesome taste but don't expect ambiance, or hygiene.
Onion special is the best and open dose is second best.
Authentic Benne dosa. Cooked in firewood 🔥. Unique taste. Butter is generously used on every dosa. Don't go for service hall. Don't expect customer service or higene. Just enjoy the taste.

Yep, this one is IT. They have home delivery through uber. Mind blowing chutney - hands down the best I have had in Bangalore. It had the texture of a vanilla ice cream scoop!

One of the best dhosa I had here only. It’s benne dhosa is super tasty. You can’t resist yourself with one dhosa. If you like dhosa then it’s a highly recommended place for you, and even if you don’t like dhosa that much, then also try here. You may fall in love with its benne dhosa.

I visited this hotel for the first time in 2004. It has been my favorite ever since. I still remember the taste of the first bite I took from that immensely flavorful benne dosa back then. Well, the Taste isn't the same though, has slightly changed over the years. Yet, its worth a visit. Its looks a little small from the outside but its big from inside in terms of food and service, there's a service area in the first floor which is well taken care of. Very reasonably priced. 100 Bucks is all it takes per person to walk in with hunger and walk out with a over loaded belly. If you are hungry, have craving for Dosas and you are around JP Nagar Metro station. May be you should go explore the menu in this hotel.

Visited this restaurant yesterday for breakfast , the restaurant is much smaller than expected . The restaurant is located near Banashankari market opposite metro pillar number 59 , it is visible from main road .
Note the dosa here are cooked on wooden fire !
Coming to food -
1.davangere benne dosa - the dosa was extremely good , one of the best benne dosa I have ever had !
The wood fire cooking definitely makes a huge difference . The dosa is extremely soft and has very very generous dose of benne and the roasting is very different from normal dosa and taste if quite different from normal dosa
2.lemon rice - the lemon rice was normal no complaints , the spice ,tanginess were all there . It wasn't oily .
3.kali dosa - the dosa was extremely good ! It was literally melting in my mouth , the dosa size was adequate and it also had liberal doses of butter
4.open dosa - the dosa is very very appealing to see , it looks really good with the orange powder and butter . the dosa was really good , the flavours of the dosa was really good! The spiceness , the tanginess and the butter ! It was heaven!
5. Bhaiji- the bhaiji also very good ,but I just wish they made it fresh and hot cause they are pre made and kept so they are dry
6. Badam milk - the badamilk was also good....nothing great just good
Overall the food is extremely good ( dosa menu) the wood fire cooking is extremely good and a must try for foodies . People passing through the area need to try it once ! . The restaurant is an unsung hero I feel , they have many pics of celebrities visiting the place !
So definitely a famous place .
If your looking for ambience you can definitely forget it , the most surprising thing is the restaurant has seating in the first floor but the stairs are really small !
Points cut for stingy chutney servings and even though service is there no one is there to attend so u'll have to bear the bad customer service part .
But the food is worth it !

Excellent place to have benne dose or Khali dose. Reminds you of the traditional hotels of the 80s and 90s before the darshini era.. They also have a small seating area..
Surprising! Not many know about this place. If you are craving for a benne dosa, this is it! I have visited places where the benne is put on top at the end. Here he has redefined benne dosa. He adds insane amount of benne at the start and repeats it at the end too. The chutney is to die for. Go for it if you are not calorie conscious.
If you are a butter Dosa lover... you gotta try the OPEN BUTTER MASALA dosa at this place..
And evening time They serve Mandakke with Mirchi bajji... This type of bajji you cannot get any where in jp nagar....

I am shocked to see that there are no reviews/ratings to a place which serves one of the finest butter dripping benne dosa in the town. This place certainly reminds you of the fast food culture from the 90s.
To start with, this place has 1 cook, 1 cashier, 1 attendant, 2 tables and no gas stoves (dosas are made on conventional wood fired stove). Usage of butter while preparing the benne dosas is far more generous when compared to other competitors, which is evident by its aroma stuck on the fingers hours later. The taste is consistently excellent and is at par with the legendary outlets of Bangalore.
I spent some 15 minutes on Zomato to find this place, If i am not wrong, this Benne Dosa Hotel is there from 2006, b/c i used to go to this place to only have "Benne Dosa" and it used to taste yummm.. Benne Dosa followed by a Coffee.. Good Old Days that was :-)

Wood fire dosa serverd here is the best in the town. Open dosa and set dosa are prepared good with the goodness of Nandini ghee.. :-). Have been here many times, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. I can eat here all the time. They have service area in case you want to seat and eat.
Loved this small place serving dosas made from wood fire. Dosas are freshly made and are excellent! Tried the benne masala dosa and the lemon rice. Lemon rice was very average. The seating area is upstairs which is accessed via narrow steps, and they are slippery! Parking is available at the metro station. Come here for the dosas for sure!
Limited or no parking space infront of hotel. Very old hotel. There are many cinema actors celebrities in past visited this hotel. One can see their photos hang on the wall when visited. We ordered benne masale dose priced at 60 rs . Like any benne dose this too had mild spices in the potato palya accompanied by Coconut chutney.
Worth for the price deal. The dose is made here using firewood fire and stone tawa that adds to the flavour.

While this isn't a new place for me, it took some time to write this review!
Supposed to be Bangalore's first Benne Dose hotel and has a history of few decades, some of the most prominent celebrities (including me?) visit this place regularly who serves authentic Davangere style Benne Dose,Mirchi Bajji and few other dishes! The chatni served with dose is normally spicy at Davangere hotels but it's not here !
Definately a place to visit when you are in and around JP Nagar or Banashankari!!

It's a small place but can accommodate about 20+ people on the first floor where you can carry food, sit and relish!
It's always delightful to visit this hotel, we went early in the morning and no much people were there, we ordered for Benne dosa and Vada and went upstairs (no service, you need to carry your food)to enjoy the food, table and chair were not that clean but food was good as usual. There is no parking space as the hotel is on the main road you need to find space by yourself. All varieties of Benne dosa and Padu are recommended. Tea is not that good so you can have it elsewhere.
The food was really awesome and delicious.
The place is hygeine and service also very fast. The sitting space is bit occupied all the time die to crowd. Ricebath was really good and dosa having with Desi butter and aloo smash was good in taste. The texture of banne dosa, open dosa and paddu was good and taste also really awesome. You will get different types of ricebath everyday, they don't stich with one rice item, they keep on chage the variety of rice every day. You must try this place on Saturday bcz you will get a chance to ea puliyogare on this day.

As the name suggests, you get Davangere Benne Dose in different styles like open Dosa, kali dosa, etc. Located along the Kanakapura Road and near JP Nagar metro station, easily accessible. We ordered Davanagere Special Dosa, which comes in 2 dosas. One of the Dosa will have lots of butter along with Chutney powder on it. Served with Smashed potato and chutney, amazing combination. Must visit.

Given the amount of butter used, expect the plates to b oily, that's why I prefer taken the open dosa which comes with the podi and gatti chutney, placed on the dosa.. so lesser contact :p
Davanager Benne(Butter) Dosa is the name itself suggest that the dosa is made with butter usually prepared in Davanagere. That's why the name Davanagere benne dosa came to it. The Davanagere banne dosa joints are everywhere in bangalore. They serve Benne dosa, idle sambar,paddu,rice bath and some other breakfast dishes.Nice place.
Went back again coz i had a craving for Benne Dosa. It's an old iconic eatery that serves Davangare Benne Dosa. I'd highly recommend you try the Benne kaali and the Benne masale. Takeaway will have you waiting for longer and there's always a queue of delivery boys waiting.
There's no parking facility and it's on the side of a busy road so you'll have to find parking elsewhere.
P.S. For two wheelers there are parking areas next to the shop near to the market
