Review Kalpavriksha Upahara - Bengaluru

Savitha N
A darshini service South and North Indian food with limited seating for the vast crowd they get . Menu is wide and food is tasty here. We had North Indian Thali and Set dosa. Koorma given for Set dosa was very tasty. But dosa had way too much oil. Thali was good too. Arrive before 9pm to get seat.

Eat few times here. Very good fresh south Indian dishes. Tried Tatte Idli and Vada. Taste was pretty good. Took takeaway too (it's called as Parcel n bangalore). Food was packed very nice and hygienic way. Impressed.

Seating arrangement is plenty but seats are filled during peak hours. Self service restaurant. Menu is moderately priced with good options. Had veg meals and samosa here. Meal tasted good but was generic south indian meal which u get at all restuarants and tasted fine. Samosa was good and crispy. If you are looking for quick breakfast and lunch then this one is a good option in this vacinity.
Azra Firdouse
This place is renovated and looks so decent and well lit. Best place to have all South Indian food followed by North Indian cuisines and ofcourse not to miss the chats. We tried pav bhaji and masala puri which were good in taste.
Jason S
All items are prepared fresh in true Darshini style. Masala Dosa was yum with red podi inside. Peas pulav was good with a overload of cashews. Gobi Manchurian was fresh but ok in taste.

Our go to place always!! Excellent taste of all North indian, Chinese food, chaats, south indian and their pav bhaji is best ever, especially the guy who prepares that!! Special kudos to him.
Aakanshya
This place is my go to for meals, dosas or the comforting curd rice for that matter, i will not recommend the pani puri or chaats, but everything else is top notch, you'd surely find the north indian food with the acrual north indian taste here.
Chinthan Jain Vlogs
Delicious breakfast and reasonable price. A lil under rated place is what I felt because of a few famous bf joints in the vicinity. Masala dose is must try here, spacious and hygiene is mainitained. They don't accept paytm as of now and for card transaction minimum bill amount is 100. Drinking water is available for free.

Its v rare to find good north Indian food in hotel lik This.. But.. This is truly good.. The best self service hotel for north Indian food in south Bangalore but nowadays price is reaching sky high😊😑

A spacious darshini few meters aways away from Taaza Thindi. Went here for a quick bite and the taste was good. Restaurant was Clean and the service is good. Milk cake was delicious.

It's meal time and you are confused on, what to eat then reach here they have huge menu with south and North Indian dishes. South India foodies can go to south Indian meal which has poori, saghu, palya, sambar, rasam, rice, sweet, papad, chutney. Food is tasty and you can have many varieties in small portion. North Indian foodies can go to North Indian meal which has roti, curry, sweet, speacial rice, curd rice. Other than that you can choose anything from their vast menu. Coming to price I think it's pocket friendly. They charge 55rs for a meal. Ambience is good, but some times overcrowded leads to stand and eat. Other than that everything is cool. Happy mealing!!
Mallika Balu
They do doses with or without oil. When one says less oil it is respected. So too with coffee. Various levels of sweetness and strength is done with patience. I certainly recommend this place. One can sit inside and have food with ease.

One of the best veg hotels in bangalore i would say.
The food is amazing
Cost friendly
Ambient is very good
Clean and hygiene
From morning breakfast till night meal is rally good and value for money.
The hotel faces the road so you can sit at the balcony like space and enjoy your breakfast.
Sri Vatsa
This is a very crowded place. They serve very nice food. Their south and north thaali are very good. Their Chinese cuisine is also very good.

Located next to the famous Taaza Thindi, this is a good place for the overflow crowd to go – like we did. Went to Taaza Thindi a bit too late to be able to get enough food for a hungry group of 6.

The curd rice, idly vada, chaats we tried here were average, I liked the rice items, roti curry. 3.5* kind of place.

I have always been coming to this place since the past 4 years and the food is what keeps me coming to this place over and over again. This place has had the best Butter Naan I've had around the city in any place. The food is not gonna take a huge toll on your wallet and value for money is always there for the taste and the quantity given. It's definitely a worth visit place and one of the very few places where i have given a 5/5 for any restaurant in the city.
Sachin
Ordered Gobi chilli was good but value for quantity is high, only few pieces of gobi full of capsicum and chillies
any way loved the recipe go have it guys
Abhishek Dixit
Pocket friendly Restaurant, specially their North Indian food is quite reasonable and I haven't had such taste elsewhere. South Indian food also tastes good, I specially like their Puliogare and Butter Masala Dosa.

I have issue with Zomato & not on restaurant...As per zomato leaflet delivered to
My doorstep today & website, I’m eligible for top50 (for this restaurant) & new50 (first 5 orders) codes, but when I chat before ordering, I was told it’s not applicable, I would like to know the reason? If it’s not applicable y cheat customer through leaflet & websites... if u call customer complaint no 8375 097031 posted in websites , it says doesn’t exist... please reply for all the 3 issues...

I visit this place frequently. Service is very quick. Fast food joint. All items are available, be it dosas idlis poori cholay batura, roti naan kulcha , many north Indian gravies, Manchurian , Thalis, noodles fried rice. Everything is tasty. And absolutely value for money. It's very good for bachelors or office goers. Neatly maintained space and no fuss cooks.
Ishwarya S
A good place for office goers and those who miss home food. No special mention on any dish but there is no dish that is not good here. One of the best hotels for economic everyday meals/dinner.
I have tried :
North Indian meals, South Indian meals, Friend Rice, Poori saagu, Chole Bhatura.
Never had any issues or anything against to say at all about the food.

One of the regulars, we can say.
Aditya M R (www.foodrestorank.com)
Little above average hotel just to fill in the stomach, food tastes average, food price's are decent, conjusted place, average ambience, I didn't see any hygiene standards. Located at a very prime locality of Jayanagar 4th T block.

Food - 3/5
Price - 4/5
Ambience - 2.5/5
Service - 3/5
Overall - 3/5

Pramath Bharadwaj
One of the very few darshinis in jayanagar.
In the morning one of the best idly vada samber chutney and not to forget their crispy masala dosa.
In the noon the north and south meals or roti curry are the best. I feel that just the roti curry will fill you up as he gives a small bowl of rice with it.
In the evening and night he almost serves everything.
They also give a special sauce which they make saperately for any Manchurian which is out of the world. And for the vegetarians their biriyani is one of the best in the locality.
Even the staff are very friendly and unlike other darshinis do not hesitate to give an extra cup of curry or chutney or whatever it may be.
Saroj Kumar Biswal
Good place for lunch. It serves South Indian, North Indian and chinese food too. Its pocket friendly, the food is tasty. Most importantly, if offers good north indian thali of different price range during lunch.

-When the management knows that the restaurant is always crowded, they should at least think of expanding the building and workforce.
-Worst service when it comes to North Indian section. They take almost an hour to serve. I had ordered butter kulcha and ended up getting plain kulcha after waiting for 45 mins straight.
When asked the staff about the delay and the food, without even any apology, he says can't help. North Indian food takes time! Wow.
- Would never visit the place Again! Earlier I never realised about this as I had never ordered North Indian food. But, today had the worst experience!
Stephen Pradeep
Tried lunch a few times and have loved the food here. The taste is truly good and the quality of food remains constant. Loved the Mughalai Biryani here.
A restaurant that consistently serves delicious food without any complaints deserves a 5.

Edit 2nd visit
This time it was a different experience so increasing my rating, the north Indian meals tasted quite good with right level of salt and spices, soft rotis, good pulao..only the soup was tasting sweetish..

Masala puri was tasting good as well, overall it was a satisfying visit for my tummy :-)

I may try some more items here in coming days...
Sukha bhojana !
______
Was passing by and had a chance to try this place for a weekday dinner.

What I felt ? to be honest it didn't live up to my expectation, but not a worst experience either.

Looked at the menu and chose Handi Biriyani.

The place was bright and clean, counters hygienic though spoons were not in sterilizing temperature. Staff were quick but not very courteous.

Coming to the food, the biriyani, gravy and raitha looked very appealing, the aroma was inviting and textures as one expects, but there ends the good part. When it came to taste it was loaded with salt, making both gravy and raitha to be of waste, luckily they have hot water which I had to pour over to make it edible.

Though biriyani was too oily I could sense all other things were in right proportion and would have been an ok experience if not for the high salt.

When I asked the staff for some curd to reduce salt dominance, they said it will cost extra without even realizing that it was their mistake of poring salt, god, if salt was forbiddenly expensive probably we would never have had this mess of excessive usage whether for purposeful reasons or out of carelessness. But finally was able to strike a bargain and convince them to get some raitha serving with added additional curd in it. Why not the hotels start looking at healthy dairy alternatives such a peanut curds which will be economical for them as well.

Now coming to the gravy, was runny and quite diluted except for salt, probably 50% thinned down from what it should be, doubling of cashew prices in recent years to blame for ? also though some raisins could make it to the biriyani cashews had no luck.

Quantity commensurates for 100 bucks but not the quality for a self service place.

Their idlis looked good with sambar and chutney, so probably will try them in my next visit to rule out if it was just a bad day.

So for now I would rate this an average place.
Bhairesh
Really a tremendous cuisine, but never buy a lemon soda because you will never know the difference between sugar cane juice and what you are having, cost is quite high....

Great Darshini in Jayanagar 9th Block. They also look after the NIMHANS canteen so very hygienic place. Food is good, except for a few dishes like Dosa and Poori. There is place to sit and eat also. The chats and Chinese items are also very tasty. They give parcel of Rasam and Sambar also.
Badri Narayanan
This would be my pick anyday for best south Indian and north Indian dishes! They make such amazing 'puliogre' which is to die for. They are underrated for their food! Absolutely fantastic. From chutney to dahi puri..

Delicious food, Very Much Hygiene, Clean and comfortable.
This Sunday I visited with my parents, as per my brother suggestion. Even though we like North Karnatak Style, tried South Indian Thali for change. My parents liked it very much.
I took Paneer manchurian, it was buttery smooth and mouth watering.
Most of time I order Sev Puri, this time also repeated same. It was good. I sure visit this restaurant again, and I like to suggest this to my friends.

This Sunday I have visited this restaurant. Pretty decent and hygiene place. I have ordered Mangalore Buns. It was so delicious, I never had such taste anywhere in Bangalore. Previously same taste I got when I visited a hotel in Udupi.
My friend ordered North Indian thaali. It is really good to have such a quality food with affordable price.

Planning to visit again.

This outlet is owned by the VB bakery management. However it's not as good as the VB bakery in terms of quality. Nothing is of good quality...dosas, rice items, chaat or Chinese. I once had a paav bhaaji and the bhaaji was like alu mixed with a little salt. Prices are decent and it attracts the college crowd. Parking isn't much of a problem. I hope they improve the food quality soon.
Manirudhk
This place is too crowded during lunch time. Their variety of rices are the only good thing they have. Remaining all are just bad. Never try dosa at this place as it is too oily all the time.
Shyni
yeah,I stay close to 'kalpa' and its a blessing for us .North Indian dishes are worth of our pocket and tasty, but just average on dosas.Special dosa is okay sometimes..
Devdath Prabhu
I went to this hotel just because taaza thindi was too rush. I ordered plain dosa and it was very oily. The taste was also not so great. It was hard too. But the sambar tasted really well. I donot recommend this hotel if u r trying for dosas....
When i try something else here next time, my mindset on this hotel may change.. bt definatly not dosas again...

Had lunch when i visited second time. It was pretty decent. Quantity of rice is very less. This second visit has made me increase the rating by 1 to 3 :)

Love for this hotel is getting increased visits by visits ... !
Anamika Saini
One of the good restraunt.....I have been here many times.....good food.....only one problem u have to grab some place to sit n eat.....one can go there to eat...
Alka Borogaon
A reasonable eatery in the neighborhood, had tried hyderabadi biryani and mughalai biryani, both were good.
The place also seemed clean and hygienic.
Kausik Venkatesan
Taaza thindi is a stone's throw away - But this place has good rice bath and thatte idly. But for dosas I prefer Taaza thindi any day. Place is clean and hygeinic

Taste 2.5/5, hygiene 3.5/5, cost 3/5, service 4/5, ambience 3.5/5.. Don't have chats there.. Not good at all.. Masala Dosa was really mediocre.. Sambar too.. Not recommended

Good neighbourhood darshini..
Their lemon rice and pulivogare tastez too good :)
Worth for money :) place is cleanly maintained ..

Happy eating :)

Been there n number of times, as its close to my home. Clean, ventilated, tasty food stop - in short value for money restaurant. Huge variety of veg delicacy available from breakfast till dinner. Lunch hours is usually crowded. All their preparations are good. Paneer dishes and rava idly is very good. Needs improvement in chaats section and Gobi maanchurian. Tea is the best here, very refreshing and always welcoming :)

Typical udupi style hotel. Since all varieties in veg are available. Some best things i liked here are puliogare, Dhaal Kichdi, Palak kichdi is awesome,. i wont recommend for kashimiri palav, peas palav, peas biriyani.
Suchindra G.S.
I loved this place. Its clean , easy to access. The roti curry , Mangalore bun and bajji are good here . where as the dosa and other south indian food is just below par. Chats ... Naaaahhh i would prefer bhavani chats ... The cashier- the old guy is rude.
Drsantosh Paripaty
I love the name of this restaurant and sadly thats about it. This is a average udupi hotel... i might have just given half mark extra..... but with taaza thindi just a stone throw away..... why would one bother to visit kalpavriksha. Their pricing is a value for money though... hygienic ally they are far behind compared to Taaza Thindi
Pooja Mazumdar
The food is decent if you are stopping for a quick bite. But if you want fresh and hygeinic idlis and dosas walk 10 steps ahead and go to thaza thindi instead. The batter that they use for the idli here is stale :-/
Trishul RS
One of those rare places where you get great south Indian and North Indian food, don't go it's darshini decor and look, this place is a complete package
Adarsha Hegde
Nice restaurant.. Had visited yesterday.
3 people had north Indian foods..it was tasty and sufficient. Restaurant kept clean and good hospitality.
RanJan SriRam
Im a regular customer since it has opened. Very good place for food. One must try Open butter masala, panneer butter masala, mughlai biriyani, idli manchuri, puliyogare specially. I would bring all my friends here.
Bengaluru Food Walks
A fast and quick bite restaurant for any kind of food, like north Indian, South indian, chinese and tandoor.
Especially north and Chinese foods are really good and worth prices.
Self service, but they have enough amount of seating capacity, where good compare to tazza thindi. Atleast we can sit and have the food.
Located next to state bank of mysore,9th Block circle.
Aditya Kulkarni
Size of a darshini but the environment is extremely clean and hygienic. Provides a good variety of North Indian and south Indian dishes. Very good taste and really affordable. You can get your stomach filled for just 65 bucks. Regularly visit the place whenever I'm in the 9th block area. Jayanagar has many great darshinis and this ranks among them.
Aiyappa Achappa
They serve really tasty food.... Price is economical clean and hygienic place I m frequent visitor.... Pure veg n service is extremely good
IndianFoodie
Regular darshini model self service small place with good food both south Indian & North Indian. The tiffin center cum lunch eatery which also serves juices snacks & pav bhaji. The food is quite good most of the time. Just go & order any items. Food will not disappoint you. Hygiene & space is bit of an issue but otherwise its good.
Primrose
I went to this place 2 weeks ago. Place was extremely clean ; not just the chairs desks but floor as well. All the desks are granite slabs coated with marble finish shinning in a dazzling white colour. A row of bar chairs in the left corner of the restaurant has added a nice touch to the seating area.

Tried Pongal , Uthappam and Coffee. Pongal was cooked with slightly diff. ingredients and the loads of ginger n pepper used by them will hit your palate straight away. Pongal was accompanied by a tamarind-based chutney (made in Iyengar style) and a raitha full of veggies which was highly refreshing.
A worthy place to eat-in!
Vishwas Panne
Worth for u r pay on food:) they serve some extremely good food and south Indian meals is like u r own home made food and can eat quite regularly :) overall it's a good restaurant
Rajath
5 points for food...-1 for the not so clean kitchen and -0.5 for price
Bharath Bhat
When I moved to Bangalore for the first time, this was my place for breakfast and dinner. Basically a self service 'Darshini'. I had to take the token and get my food stuff. Food isn't that bad. I felt, it is slightly over priced. The guy who makes the North Indian dishes is good. I visit this place whenever I am bored of eating food from the mess I usually eat at.
Anubhav Tiwary
I visit this restaurant regularly for lunch and dinner. Food is good and value for money. Must try items : Paneer Chilly and Gobi Chilly. Service is good and prompt.
Ajinkya Deshmukh
Eat here regularly. South Indian and north Indian meals are good options for quick bite. Overall extremely value for money.
Anjana Muralidhar
This place has been my regular eat out. They serve some very tasty north indian food. Especially their paneer butter masala has been my all time favourites and a "must try" item in their menu. this place also makes a very tasty and non glutten fried rice which isn't very oily unlike some places. I would definitely recomend it to my friends.
