Review Kawaii - Bengaluru

Namitha Varma-Rajesh
This is a small store that sells mochi ice creams imported from Thailand - the ice creams are not made at the store. The choices are, therefore, limited. They're expensive but a unique experience to try. The vibe of the place is so spa-like that it's easy to feel like you entered the wrong store!

Located in Indiranagar, a cute mochi ice cream place. They had a lot of different flavours such as milk, Thai milk, Jasmine, taro, blueberry, peach, etc. Each priced 185/- We aren't allowed to eat it inside, there's space only for 2-3 people to sit and wait for it to melt a bit. The taste was okayish.

I tried this premium Japanese Icecream from kawaii located at indiranagar. This icecream comes in a very unique shape and it tastes yumm which I tried for the first time. I tried the strawberry flavour which was mouthwatering and tasty. The outlet is small and looks like a small shop from outside, they only give the take away as of now, but you can have it there after taking it.

Please bring back ‘taro’ flavour. It was my fav, so subtle and refreshing!!! I’ve tasted mochi from other places in Bangalore but this was the most delicious and light. It does seem pricey but honestly, for the quality it’s worth it. Specially since it’s imported.

It was refreshing to try out this new ice-cream place! Although priced on the expensive side (₹185), I loved it. Jasmine tasted wayyyy better than the Cookie flavour though. The shop does seem very very very shady from the outside with a black tinted door and all. But the ambience inside doesn't disappoint. Great for a one-time experience.

The taste is superb.. No place to sit.. A very small shop.. Cost is high because it's imported from Thailand..
Utsav Ranjan Keshri
Small cozy shop with quite a sexy interior light scheme, plentiful options for flavours Jasmine Thai Milk Tea Salted Caramel among the many Soft cold exterior with creamy flavoured filling. A good way to wrap up a nice hearty meal with this being a cherry on the top for the evening.

Amazing place for dessert! The ambience is calming, a touch of minimalism is what makes it different. And the mochis, well, what can I say, they are straight outta Japan and into your mouth, where they melt gently, swiftly propelling your taste buds to heaven. I would recommend the peach flavor, it hits you right away.
Nupa
Cute little place and it was my first time trying mochi ice cream. The price is a little high for just one but I loved it eitherways. We had peach, matcha and taro. Matcha and taro and were simply amazing. Always try out the exotic ones! Oh they play Kpop songs a lot here, so if you're a Kpop fan that's a bonus! Overall it was amazing!

Amazing first time experience 😍 Loved it! A must try for all! Looking forward to taste more flavors 😋 But it's definitely a bit too costly... It is a good one time experience 😋 Just go for it!

Its new, its fresh, its exciting. The only place in Bangalore to serve Mochi Ice Cream - A Japanese Delight. With an array of different flavours to choose from this will definitely be a new experience you can bet on to be worth the visit. Personal favourite: Blueberry, Chocolate
Ankita Sarangi
The mochi icecream are extremely tasty, we had the lime and mango flavors, plan to try all other flavors as well. The management/owner might be a lil rude though.
Diya Sanjay Arora
The staff was very rude, not a positive behaviour and negativity. Icecream was very expensive and not worth the money at all. Would definitely not recommend this place or food at all
Kajal Kuki Patwari
The owner is very rude and demeaning to his own customers. I wanted to go again, just because the place mostly stays emty and i wanted to support the business and i love supporting such entrepreneurs. But after seeing such a rude insta page and seeing how he has replied on my comments, i am never going back again. Food is super expensive for a tiny dessert piece. And dessert is also not special, just icecream covered in regular sticky rice

I've been wanting to try mochi for quite some time now. Discovered Kawaii very recently and I had to give it a try.
And it was worth it. Tried a couple of different flavors. Each one was unique and left a wonderful aftertaste on the palate. And of course, the mochi all looked very kawaii as well.
The ambience was soothing and so was the music. Would love to visit again.

Prices are too expensive for the quantity given. Not sustainable if they want repeat customers.
Rakshitha Talanki
I can say , new taste of ice cream. I had ordered chocolate mochi. It had a gummy outer layer and ice cream inside. For better taste wait for 2-5 min once served.
But disappointing was the size. It was too small. Servers only one. Not worth the money.
Darshika Pillai
Cute little place with a pretty ambience. Would've loved to see a lot more variety in Japanese desserts though. Mochi ice-cream was very different and yum, but also a bit too pricey, for the quantity of the dessert that was served.
Aparna
Super cute place with great mochi. The taro mochi is a must try. Had a lime mochi as well which was very refreshing but had a slightly bitter aftertaste.
Swatee Chand
Loved the Korean Banana flavour. Its so unique and is a treat to the taste buds. 😍😋

Before Kawaii, I had never tried mochi ice cream. It's my favourite food group now.

The quality (and consistency) of the mochis aside, which is top notch btw, the place is an absolute delight. I loved the aesthetic and the palette of colors that adds a dash of uniqueness to Kawaii.Head over to Kawaii on a quiet 'me-night', take a bite of the produce and lull yourself towards a playfully pensive state of mind.

This is an amazing place. Tried mochi here for the first time and it's so good. We had strawberry, cookies and cream (in pic),coconut, vanilla, chocolate and tropical lime. Great quality and cute ambience
Sounak Mondal
Amazing experience - tried the classic matcha (that's definitely the best matcha ice cream I have had in India), strawberry, peach and tropical lime flavors. I believe the mochi is imported and it adds an amazing textural element to the whole dish. Ambience truly lives up to the name - soothing pink decor, cosy couches, and lo-fi music. I sincerely hope that Kawaii stays alive and well within this market which is so very much enamored with the gastronomically hackneyed that it fails to appreciate the value of something as niche as what is served in Kawaii.
Pallavi Bhardwaj
I had mochi very first time when one of my Japanese colleague bought it from Tokyo. After that it was my first experience with mochi in India that too with ice cream stuffed in it and believe me it was more tastier than what I tasted earlier. I tried three flavours. Out of all three vanilla I like the most, then Jasmine and lastly lime. Lime was also good and unique. Though it was an ice cream but you can literally taste the little sourness of lime in it. Overall I loved it, was an amazing experience and would love to visit again to try other flavors.😋🍡

Ambience:- 5/5
Quantity:- 4.5/5
Quality:- 5/5
Service:- 5/5

It has so relaxing ambience, and some special japanese mocha ice-cream.
Tried so many of them, caramel, green apple, milk, coffee, lemon and so many more.. every mocha has different perfection in it...
Visited this place many times. Must visit place in Bangalore, till enjoy here.
❤️❤️❤️

Out of the three of us. I liked it, the other two didn't (at all) . And I made them travel a lot for this.
Just going by the numbers, rating should be a 1.6.

I wanted to have mochi since I ever heard of it, and when I got to know this place opened I knew I had to come here and when I did my experience was nothing but beautiful and delicious. I got three flavours coconut, milk and cookies and creme which were all amazing but coconut was exceptional so refreshing yet light and the mochi was so perfectly wrapped around the ice cream. Mochi is made from a more glutinous form of rice and used in various desserts and dishes and it tastes amazing. I honestly can’t say enough words to describe it. And I’m thankful for these people to bring it to Bangalore and widening our palates. If nothing it’s definitely worth a try :) can’t wait to visit again

Kawaii is as cute as its name. The minute you enter this 1st floor dessert parlour, you can’t help but smile. It seems to be a scene right out of Alice in Wonderland. With plush grass carpeting and plenty of air conditioning, you can easily spend hours here.

This place does only one thing and it does that one thing right – mochi. Your choice of mochi is mentioned on the wall and is presented as a live display too. We went for the Taro, Green Tea, Peach Mochis. I highly recommend the Taro mochi; it has just the right amount of sweetness. The ice cream is covered by a sweet pastry dough. They complement each other.

Service is good. There was only one person at the parlour when we arrived, he served us efficiently.

It does take some time for the dessert to be served and you also have to wait for a few minutes before you can bite into it. The price tag for each mochi may be a little high but all the mochis are imported from Japan, the motherland. The price is definitely worth the experience.

If you love ice cream and want to try a new type, you must go here.
The ambience was kawaii (aka super cute) and the ice cream was delicious.
We had blueberry and chocolate but I've heard that green tea is authentic and amazing.
The staff was nice and the place was not at all crowded. It might be a bit expensive but its worth a try.
Will definitely go here again. I loved the concept and I'm so glad we went here
For those who want to know what it has:
Its basically normal ice cream on the inside and oce cream made of rice flour on the the outside.
An adorable little parlour tucked into a corner in HSR, Kawaii is a must visit for the sheer experience. The Japanese ice cream may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they do have an array of fruit based and tea based ice creams available.
RV
Absolutely loved the mochi ice cream!! It was refreshing and the textures went extremely well together. Out of the eight flavors that I tried, mocha, chocolate, and melon were the best! Would definitely visit again 💙
Maneet Singh
New and different place for dessert lovers. This is newly opened in Bangalore. The authentic Japanese ice cream. They have many different flavours which one can try. The price of single mochi Japanese ice cream is little bit on higher side because the quantity is very small.
Ravi Agrawal
I'm not sure why they aren't rated higher, their mochi ice creams are just so delicious! I tried their macha, mocha chip and Jasmine, all 3 were just smashing! Will definitely come back to try more of their flavours.
Aparna Ramakrishnan
This was a unique experience. It’s a wonder how the Japanese cuisines find a way to incorporate rice in everything. Mochi is an ice cream covered in rice ! They’re colorful pebble shaped ice creams (in the picture) with a subtle sweetness and a very soft and chewy texture. I strongly recommend this place to all the food explorers out there.
Rishabh Singh
I'm not going to crib about how far I travelled and how much I shelled out to buy this soft dough of manna but instead I should get right to the taste. It's absolutely nothing like I've ever tasted. This was my second visit.

The staff asked me to wait for 3 minutes before digging into these mochis and they were the longest 3 minutes of my life. Biting into these soft, cold balls (no homo) was the highlight of my evening.

The green tea flavour is well worth the hundreds of kilometers these Zomato reviewers claim to travel. The Taro is worth committing homicide for.

And on a side note, Ashwin has maintained the most aesthetic Instagram feed I've ever seen for an establishment.

10/10 would visit again.
Shivani Singh
I'm not an ice cream loving person, except for the tender coconut flavour at naturals, but I find these portions of mochi just ideal for the amount of sweet coldness I'm occasionally craving. I've been here twice, and it's the tranquility of the place that brings me back; I've tried the melon, green tea, mocha and cookies & cream so far, and would strongly recommend the green tea and fruit flavoured ones. Also, it's simply heartening to discover nooks like this one, just made with so much love.
Shareen Rodrigues
Nice concept. Loved the peach flavour, wasn’t really a fan of the jasmine one. It would be really nice if the owner would sell actual mochis as well. I loved the sticky outer covering. It was yumm.
Nisha Santosh
Unique sort of japanese icecream in Bangalore. Loved the blueberry flavoured one. Pricing I felt is on par, doesn't pinch your pocket. Friendly staff.
Abha Agarwal Rasiwasia
Loved their mochi icecreams and flavors. It was superb and it was exciting to see that this is available in bangalore. Priced at 125/- per piece this is place satisfies my mochi cravings each time.

First time in Bangalore, the Japanese Mochi covered icecream. It may appear a little different at the first bite but slowly the taste settles in and then you experience a new world ot texture and taste.
Himanshu Singh
Experienced different kinds of ice-cream here , it's a good place to hangout and ice-cream lovers . Highly recommend to visit this place atleast once .

This Sunday we visited the only place selling green tea mochi ice cream. We travlled about 20kms to get to the place but it was worth the journey. As the name kawaii suggests the place was very adorable. It was like a place straight out of a shoujo manga. Moving on to the mochi. We tried quite a few of the flavours. The salted caramel, peach, melon, chocolate, mocha chip were very good. The yam flavoured mochi made us nostalgic cause it tasted like "patishapta" a sweet bengalis love. The green tea mochi was the star of the show. It was worth every penny. The service and hospitality was very good. This is the first post I have written, Kawaii was just worth writing about. Every anime, manga, or Japanese culture fan should try out the green tea mochi.
Amrit Acharya
Really great Mochi! Enjoyed both the Mango and the milk flavors. Will try out more soon. Little expensive, hence won't be my go-to ice cream place but every now and then when I'm craving Mochi!
Vinod Kumar
It is kawaii !!
Korean banana is love!
And the milk shake!! Damn! Amazin!
Very cozy and calm place, theme is great, dessert greater!
Must try.

If you're someone who has always wanted to travel to Japan to taste the famous Mochi ice creams (thanks to all the K-drama and Anime watching), well the you're in for a treat. KAWAII, a dessert parlor in H.S.R is serving Mochi ice cream in 13 different flavours
Followmytummy(AviAvinash)
Got to know about this through Secret Sauce behind ba successful restaurant. Never knew place existed and I was super excited to try it out. First of all thank you to the owner for giving us Japanese dessert experience, appreciate your efforts

For the people who want to explore and try out something new, this is the place. . . It's a cute place with pink theme, the guy on the till was very welcoming and courteous. There were plenty of options and we decided to try put Cookie and Cream, Pineapple

It's a kinda mom ice cream I would say, the outer part is made of rice dough with ice cream inside it

Felt uncomfortable eating it with hand as the outer part was sticky. Not sure if its consumed with hand. However, we just peeled off the rice layer and ate the ice cream. Cookie and Cream was good but pineapple was not up to the mark

I would say, it's a one time experience

So we were craving some dessert to enjoy during our weekend.
We have been following the Mochi bar on Instagram for quite some time and realised that it was time to not delay this experience anymore.
We were not disappointed! Soft subtle flavours, bite size pieces and so light. We ordered Mocha chip, Toru, Cookie and cream and got a Banana milk Mochi complimentary on the occasion of Jimin's birthday. Aren't we lucky?!! The place is super cute with pink sofa, pastel walls, and clean marble tables. The people there are super nice and talk about what they have to offer from this venture. We look forward to many more visits!

I would recommend this place to try something new flavour of ice-cream with rice coated .. the size is small but yaa one should give a try ...personally i like green tea flavour ..👍🏻😊
Loved it!

The aesthetic and just the fact that there actually is good mochi ice cream available in Bangalore. Nice bunch of flavours (tried 6 and liked all of them), interesting marketing on insta, long funny rants - gotta love the owner.

I sometimes had trouble identifying which flavour is which. Some help there, maybe?
Also if there's future expansion into more japanese desserts? :D

The look and feel of this ice parlour is nice especially with the artificial grass mat used for flooring. The person in the counter informed us about a Sunday combo when we were checking out the available flavours. The combo which we took had four flavours: milky red bean, taro, jasmine, strawberry. Cost of one mochi icecream is ₹125 and this combo of 4 costed us ₹400.
Milky red bean, taro: good and a different flavour.
Jasmine: nice and had a subtle flavour of Jasmine.
Strawberry: I did not like it as the ice cream did not have a good flavour of strawberry.
Sunita.
Nice place. slightly expensive. I've never had ice cream of such kind.. so definitely an experience. Loved the melon, peach and blueberry flavour.

I was so thrilled to find out there was finally a place that served Mochis in Bangalore.the quality of the Mochi is pretty good.this place offers a good variety of mochis to try out.the only drawback I would say is the price point of each mochi.its little on the expensive side.but if you’re someone willing to spend a few bucks on something like this it’s totally worth it!
Wadhwa
I wish the ice-cream would be a bigger I expected the ice-cream to be bigger as the pictures said either the ice-cream was amazing and the rice dough outside was really good I would visit kawaii soon and I hope they make a little bigger ice-cream. The ice-cream tastes like anyother ice-cream we eat.The rate is high according to the ice-cream is served. It is worth the try, I tried 3 flavors chocolate, blueberry, milk. And I have orderd the ice-cream. I hope the rates improve and they make a bigger size ice-cream. I just read the reply of the owner on the customers feedback it was not valid.

I visited this lovely place today evening. To start with I was impressed with the ambience and look and feel of the place. We asked about the various flavors which were on display and got to know that there were some combo offers running. We ordered the KAWAII Originals combo.

The plating was beautiful and as these stunning Mochis melted in our mouth as it sent a chill down our spines. We were quite impressed until I asked for the bill.
The bill was 400 bucks. I don't mind paying more or less for the experience that I had. But don't you think I should get a bill/receipt for my experience. So the guy at the counter refuses to give me a bill for what I have exclusively paid for. Why is it so? Is it because you are not paying taxes and running an illegal restaurant?
How do you justify this action?
Nital Shah
I did not enjoy the ice-creams here at all. It also could be a matter of taste. It is nothing like the regular ice-creams. It is more like a sorbet with a sticky covering made from rice. The staff was not helpful in terms of even telling us what it is or suggesting something considering this is new in Indian market. Ambience is nice.
Smriti
Visited this place to try out their unique mocha ice-cream.
It's good for a one-time ice-cream craving, but I wouldn't travel 20 kms just for this mochi, if you know what I mean XP
✖ Expensive.
✖ The service and hospitality is worst here.
Niraj Shah
A diff variety... Japanese Mochi ice cream.... Sticky rice coat on outside and good ice cream inside...

Tried Peach, Green tea and Tropical lime....

Each has a unique taste and is awesome...

Bit on expensive side.. 125 for one dumpling of size of a momo... But we liked...

The combination of sticky rice and flavoured ice cream creates a heaven taste while u gulp it down slowly...

Must try once
Chandni Uthappa N
Tried their mochis😌 wel, it's differently made, outer part with rice dough and inside it has chosen flavoured ice cream. Blueberry and chocolate ice creams is what we tried and it was good. Can visit n actually try cs it's kinda different. Very neatly kept place with pink decors and green lawn carpets. Must try.(though I felt it's less quantity)
Roshni Rajendra
Loved the unique texture and flavour of the ice creams. The place is also so very cozy.
Good stuff. Getting all my ice-cream-loving friends here :)
Ankita Mohanty
Went to kawaii after seeing it's ad on Instagram and I was not disappointed at all. Had mochis for the first time in my life and it was very different than regular ice creams that we are used to. The texture, softness and temperature were all perfect. The server also guided us on how to eat it which was very helpful.
We had mango-watermelon mochi and blueberry mochi. Both were good but I liked the first more.
Ambience wise the place is extremely cute and chic with pink over alls.
However I feel they should increase their menu because it is very limited as of now. And it will take a while for common crowd to develop a taste for mochi.
Also they got cute stuff for sale as well. So going there next time to explore the goodies and mochis. :)
Pranita Sawant
So this was the first time I was having some mochi which is a Japanese dessert. starting with the packaging. It was a super cute package like hello Kitty delivered it to you. The mochi has a doughy covering filled with ice cream. We had the mocha chip one. The ice cream felt like any other ice cream we eat. Not a fan but it was worth the try. It's good to see some new stuff come up in the neighborhood. Good luck.
Tanuja Jayram
I remember looking for Mochi in bangalore sometime last year and being dissapointed to not find any. Thank you for bringing one of my favorite desserts home! Loved the Mango, chocolate and Mocha flavors
Me
Ordered Melon, Green Tea & Jasmine online. Very cute packaging! The mochis themselves looked adorable with pastel colours. Taste wise they all seemed to have authentic flavouring though there was a strong undertone of a milkyness to it... Recommend eating the ice-cream and the ‘dough’ together haha! All in all, delicious!
Akshar Udupa
Let me be honest here.
I was really astounded when I saw a post on this place on Zomato.
The flavors and stuff sounded really cool.
However that doesn't really translate into real life at all.
The flavors are at best sketchy.
Even the odd flavors like green tea and Tora ? ( Sorry I forget the flavor ) were not the best and will not make me come back here again.
The process of eating it is also complicated and involves a stick which you don't know what to do with.
However the biggest kicker here is the price.
125 for a small nubbin of an ice cream is a bit much for my liking.
In opinion , it's opened far ahead of it's time.
They don't accept cash be ready for that.
So went to Kawaii yesterday. It's not always you encounter a dish/dessert that you have no clue bout, but yesterday was one of those days for me. Kawaii is an ice-cream parlour with a twist, they serve Mochi ice cream. The concept's quite interesting, Imagine a scoop of icecream that is wrapped inside a layer of sticky rice paste. So it is served to us as tiny (kinda) sticky balls/scoops with a tiny skewer with which you convert this sticky ball/scoop to a cute lil pop-sicle and then you bite away. If you ask me, you'd go here for a totally different icecream experience and most certainly for it's awesome set of unique flavours (japanese) like green tea, taro, red bean n so on. So do visit Kawaii for a dose of Mochi Ice cream experience 😊 happy Fooding.
Anoushka Ghosh
It was a really amazing experience going to Kawaii. It serves you authentic Japanese mochi ice cream. The flavours are true to their names.
Tried maybe 11 different flavours. One of the must tries are mocha chip, red bean, strawberry, mango and cookie cream. Also if you are into exotic flavours ask them for jasmine, personally I liked it a lot but I’m not sure if everyone would like that kind of a flavour. Do give this place a try.
Mohit Rynrd
A unique way to have an Ice Cream. Based out of Thailand, the ice cream is wrapped around by a flavored sticky rice soft shell which tastes n feels like a soft chewing gum. Mochi Ice Creams a something new to Bangalore, which is awesome.
We tried “Mocha Chip” which was absolutely delicious, “Mango” & “Cookie & Cream” were really good.
Some people’s might some take time to get used to the outer shell, I was really happy to try it.
The Decor is pleasant, Service was quick & welcoming. Taste was good as well.

⭐️ Taste 5/5
⭐️ Ambience 5/5
⭐️ Service 5/5
⭐️Value for Money 5/5
⭐️ Hygiene 5/5

When i was little I used to ask my mom why cant we mix rice & icecream have some dish out of it? She laughed at this idea. This is the rare occasion she was wrong.
At kawaii you get exactly the same. Mochi ice-cream - icecream filled inside thick layer of rice. Different taste. Dont expect too much. Very innovative concept. Must try atleast once in your lifetime. I am suggesting this to my friends and relatives to have a try at this.
Dushyant
Visited them last month when I was in Banaglore. We really like the mochi icecream. Tried blueberry and chocolate both were good. Will recommend to try them out .
Ash Jain
Mochi ice cream is made with a sticky rice outer soft shell with flavoured ice cream within the shell. Kawaii brings these flavours to India directly from Thailand.

I went with the Mango, Strawberry & Melon (MUST TRY). Exciting flavours and good texture on the ice cream - could use more flavour within the ice cream.

The store gives you a calm relaxing vibe with the grass flooring. Super hygienic and quick service given the store manager Ashwin is the sole man running the show.

Great going guys. Will be back to try on the green tea & blueberry bestsellers.
Shaik Manzoor
Very nice place with music. It was a little difficult to find the place but worth going. My favourite mochi ice cream was milky red bean and mango. I didn't like chocolate and green tea. I highly recommend that you try all flavours to find your favourite mochi ice cream.

The steward was good with service and was patient in explaining us about the mochi ice cream and answering all our questions. This is currently the first mochi ice cream parlor in India. The ice cream mochi is imported from Thailand.

I loved the deserts overall, I will definitely try blueberry and strawberry next time and hope to try the new flavours coming soon!

#IcecreamMochi #Kawaii #HSR #Bangalore #Japanese #LoveforIcecream #MustVisit #Weekend #GoodTimes #Friends #FirstMochiIcecreamParlorInIndia

A Cute Little place for cute ice-creams .... HAHAHAHA !!
Ambiance - 3.5/5
Service -5/5
Taste - 4/5

Claimed to be the 1st ever Japanese ice cream outlet in Bangalore & ice-creams are imported from Bangkok. ; Not a crowded place , probably due to being new .

As soon as you hit the counter , you can see cute ice creams in display and owner himself taking order on Mac-book . He is very courteous and explains all about the ice creams .This place offers so many new varieties to try; ranging from traditional vanilla, chocolate to green tea, red beans to name a few . I tried blueberry, vanilla and both were good .
Dhvani Bakshi
It is one of an experience I have never had before, honestly the first taste wasn’t very great because you don’t expect something like that (if you haven’t tasted before). But once you understand it’s taste, it’s one of the best desserts I have ever had. If it suits your taste you will definitely fall in love.
Nina Polotai
First time I saw this place in instagram and immideately wanted to go. Its looking very unique out of dessert places, serving japanese mochi which were definitely interesting to try.
The interior is simple, but this pink color is very cozy. Its also great to enjoy the street view.
I tried green tea and milky red bean mochi. Green tea was something similar to matcha taste, which I like. Red bean was more candy and reminded me of gum flavor. Overall very light taste, sweet but not overloaded sugar sweetness. I really enjoyed.
Im very happy such unique place is here in Bangalore. Its really great to try something new.
One thing only - its very far from my home(((
Rajeev
What do you tell a person who decides to open the country’s first mochi bar ? Bloody good, mate ? Or, why HSR ?
The mochis are pretty good, wonder why it took so long to reach India.
Udit Mukherjee
After trying different types and fusions of ice creams, I needed a new experience and decided on giving kawaii a visit. I tried the milk mochi and Thai milk tea mochi and really loved the milk mochi. It was really a new experience. Now many might feel that, for the price you pay the quantity is small, but then again, it's more of an experience.
Vandita Thomas
The first time ever I tried mochi was way back in 2015 at an Asian market in Copenhagen and loved it. Boy, was I glad when I randomly happened to find Kawaii on Instagram! Ordered the chocolate and vanilla mochi via Zomato and fell in love all over again! Everything was spot on.. from the flavour to the texture to the uber cute packaging.. Looks like I'm going to be a regular customer :)
Sangavi M
Kawaii is a cute place with the distinct mochi icecream. All the fruit flavours are delicious and are a must try. The place is as cute as it’s name suggests :)

[Update : Reducing the rating due to the completely unjustified backlash by the owner on my comment related to price. If the owner cannot digest an extremely tiny critical remark in a largely positive review, I cannot give the review the rating it deserves. Leaving my original review unchanged as i'm a "self anointed foodie blogger" and have integrity enough to not devalue my opinions based on others' criticism.]

I come from a lineage of ice cream lovers and discovering and trying new and unique ice creams has become a tradition of sorts. Seeing this new place on Zomato, I immediately added it to bookmarks and planned to visit it soon.

Ambience : The ambience for some reason reminded me too much of Hello Kitty :p But ofcourse I don't mean this to be a bad thing. It was a very unique and serene setting with grass textured floor and very limited but cute seating. The place was very new and there were very few people there. They had kept the ice creams on display to give people a fair idea of what to expect which was a good thing. Though had the place been located on the ground floor instead of the first floor, I feel it would have made a better impact.

Food : The ice creams were for sure nothing like any I've tried before. I had read up on what exactly Japanese Mochi ice creams are before dropping by and hence was informed about what to expect. Mochi ice creams are nothing but ice creams filled inside sticky rice coating that has been pounded to give it this smooth sticky texture. The ice creams were available in several very unique flavours including green tea, milky tea and red bean to name a few. The mochi is to be eaten with hand or with the toothpick like stick poked in like a kebab. The size, about half of your palm, was extremely small considering the exorbitant price. We tried Milk, Blueberry and Lime. The Milk one was the best out of the three. The blueberry and Lime were also great with tangy flavours. The texture of the outer coating was a little chewy and the ice cream filling was very flavourful. I was pretty surprised that even my grandmom who is usually a picky eater also enjoyed it :p

Service : Considering this to be a small ice cream place, there isn't much to add about the service. However, the person standing at the counter (not sure if he was the owner) was very friendly and courteous. He served the ice cream at our table and explained how to eat it. They also had this card machine, that probably might be used at a lot of places but I saw it for the first time, where there is no paper involved and the invoice is sent directly to our phone number. One notable thing however is that the ice cream took some time to be served. I'm not sure how this is stored or prepped hence I can't say if it was to be expected.

All in all a very unique thing to try which would be a first for most people. Taste wise it was wonderful but it was a little too expensive for me to make a second visit.
This is the only place in India to serve authentic Japanese dessert! The dessert is light and the flavour is perfect.. The flavour is not too much or too little. We tried milky tea, vanilla, chocolate and the red bean flavour. I personally liked the chocolate and milky tea the best among the four. The ambience is very pretty, the place is spacious.
It is a must try, especially for all dessert lovers!

*disclaimer - when you visit the place please keep in mind the bill can be paid only through a card, so make sure you keep your cards with you when you go there.

The first and in my knowledge the only place in India that serves MOCHI ICE CREAM. Anyone in Bangalore looking out for a different dessert option should definitely try this out. Great interiors and even better ice cream.

Adorable ice cream. It's a little expensive, but I appreciate the novelty.

I loved the vanilla and strawberry, matcha tea was really good too. The red bean flavor didn't taste like red bean though, more bubblegum than anything else.

The manager was helpful and super nice.

Tried these for the first time.

The place is mostly done in Pink and has a very dessert-y feel to it. Loved the comfy couches.

Coming to the dessert - Almost like Ice Cream Dumplings. :D

The outer layer is made of sticky rice pounded into their desired shape which is then stuffed with ice cream. Loved how they took the effort of introducing us to the history and concept of mochis.

A small little ball of it is gonna cost you INR 125 but then again they are imported all the way from Bangkok.

We tried the Mocha Chip and the Green Tea mochis.

Definitely worth a try! :)

It's so hard to find east asian desserts in India as most of them just copy Chinese desserts. I was excited to try this place as it's the only place as far as I know that serves mochii ice cream.

It's freshly opened so not much done up yet but interiors are clean and minimalistic. What I liked about the place is that it specialises in one thing but does it well.

Coming to the mochii, it was chewy on the outside and then you feel the cold hard ice cream as you dig in.Its not too sweet and the flavours are distinct. It is a little pricey at 125 per mochii but it's the real thing imported so the price is really not bad.

I'd love to visit to try more flavours and hope they do some more branding so people can try out something new.

The famous Japanese Mochi Ice Cream is in town. Its located in HSR layout.

Sticky rice is pounded for a very long time & thats how Mochi is made. Then they stuff these Mochi's with an ice cream.

Food: 3/5

Ambience: 3/5

Service: 3/5

We ordered Blueberry, Lime, Milk & Thai Milk Tea flavored Mochi's.

I did not like the blueberry & Lime.

But Milk & Thai Milk Tea Mochi's tasted good.

These Ice creams are worth a try, but they are very expensive.

One small Mochi will cost you Rs 125.

They have lots of different flavours. Do check it out.

Ambience is cute. Like lawn mat flooring.
Taste - 4/5
Price- 4/5 (it's a premium ice cream so is the cost 😜 )

#japanesefood #japaneseicecream #mochiicecream #mochi #instafood #icecream #whattoeat #bengalurulocalfoodies #zomatoblogger #zomato #lbb #kanemochi #delicious #yum

It's the first time I have ever tried mochi ice cream. I was bit skeptical before getting it delivered but when I tasted it, was such a delight.
At first I ordered mocha ice cream but after I tasted it I couldn't resist to order more time. Next time I ordered chocolate ice cream. And yes, it was amazing too.
I am definitely gonna visit this place next time to taste other flavors. :)

Was recommended the place by a friend who knew my love for anime and Japanese culture; do not regret following up on the recommendation!

*Note: We visited the establishment only about 6 days after it opened.

Ratings -
Ambience: 4/5
Service: 5/5
Ice Cream: 4.5/5
Value for money: 3.5/5

Ambience:
Keeping true to its name, Kawaii is a cute ice cream parlour with a pleasant decor. Pink themed, with a fake-grass flooring, the place has a very positive and fresh vibe going for it. One thing I noticed and really appreciated were the plug points at the base of the pink sofas - most likely keeping the customer in mind. (Should have clicked a picture of that - perhaps next visit!)

Service:
The gentleman who opened the establishment was the one manning the counter. He was friendly and offered to explain what mochi is, while serving us water in pretty glasses. When we had difficulty finding the ice cream parlour, the owner was kind enough to respond to my inquiries on Instagram and give us directions.

MOCHI:
Mochi is, in the simplest of words, a Japanese rice cake. Traditionally made from a paste of rice, modern day mochi is made of rice flour and water. These cakes are generally filled in with sweet red bean paste known as anko.
Mochi ice cream, like the name suggests, is filled with ice cream instead of the usual anko. And IT - IS - GOOD!!!

Kawaii has a variety of flavours to choose from, including melon, milk tea, green tea and so on. We tried the blueberry, strawberry and anko flavours. I quite liked the blueberry while my friend seemed to prefer red bean paste. The mochi ice cream is served with matcha flavoured pocky and what I think was crushed rock candy - adding a refreshing crunch to the sticky gooey goodness. The ice cream itself was subtly sweet, wrapped in a layer of sticky rice cake.

The owner mentioned he plans on adding more items to the menu in the days to come.

Value for money:
Considering that the mochi is imported, the pricing is pretty decent. The pocky sticks and water were complimentary.

If I had to list one con - it would be that the establishment is hard to find given that the location on Google Maps is wrong. I would recommend using the map on Zomato instead.

All in all, it was a great place! Definitely going to visit again. Would highly recommend Kawaii if you're interested in trying something different.

A cute little ice cream place. Finding it was a bit difficult. But, this place is definitely worth a try. Very pretty decor. Pink sofa with grass flooring. Unique variety of flavours to choose from. We tried milk, milk tea, melon, vanilla and lemon. My favourites were melon and vanilla. The ice cream comes wrapped in a rice sheets almost resembling ice cream Momos! The owner was very courteous too. So overall the place is definitely worth a go if your in the neighborhood.
