Review Rawstraw - Bengaluru

ChefBB
What a place well planned by the couple. Love at first sight starting from the colour combination and wall painting. Healthy food and vegan options less in Bangalore. But this place serves you the healthy options in every course of menu. I loved their dessert option which was no dairy ingredients in them. Roasted mushroom soup and veg clear soup bang on target. No thickening used in mushroom soup and we'll balanced spice. Falafel Salad was fresh and millet gives it healthy twist. But quantity is huge. Rice bowl with green Thai veg Curry and Srilanka curry. Boiled rice served which was healthy in nature. They can serve some red rice in option as well if someone not like boiled rice just like my wife. Hard to find red rice in Bangalore by the way. Red rice means unpolished rice. Ragi tacos I didn't liked guys I am not telling it's bad. There is a huge difference between I didn't liked it and it's bad. Millet waffle is a super hit dessert will be liked by every age group by the it's their signature dessert. I have forgotten about Saksukha it's a nice dish layered and topped with egg. The whole wheat bread was awesome served with this. In Beverage Antioxidant is a refreshing drink you must try. Bon Appetit Chef BB

Quaint cafe serving healthy food. The soups were great as was the ragi tacos. Small serving portions. Service is slow but it lets you unwind and relax. They have Jenga blocks and a chess board and a quaint collection of books.

Perfect place to have a healthy lunch. Unusual but delicious items. My wife had the Thai soup and asked for the noodles to not be included which they were happy to oblige. I had a Maple Chai Smoothie which came in a plate and was delicious and refreshing. Not giving 5 stars as positioning as a health place it didn't have nutritional values on the recipes and has no meat options which is often a significant part of any meal for someone trying lose weight or gain muscle. The staff and decor and music were all excellent. Highly recommended.

Love the ambience and games to play, food was a little too healthy for my liking. Might repeat just for light eats and the drinks. Service and staff were awesome.

Great place for the health conscious and vegetarian folk! Lovely ambience, good food and peaceful instrumental music to add to the charm of this little restaurant. Love their range of healthy juices and all-day breakfast options.

Very nice place and menu. Juices, smoothies, sandwiches all good. Didn't quite like the waffle. Made of jowar and meant to be healthy which is a good thought but it was too dense and hard to be a good waffle.

To start with the service was pathetic, all our orders took ages to come. I ordered banana waffles which was not good . Place was kind of deserted when came here which was around 11:15AM.we ordered burger and was presented with sliders without any information.it was served to us saying that burger is not available.
Vivek Jha
Food was good. Service was very delayed. For smoothie bowl they came 15 minutes late to inform that it wasn't available. For big burger they came back later directly with sliders saying that burger isn't available. They didn't care to even ask prior to changing the order.

We visited this place since there were so many positive review about it. When we entered we found only 2 tables were occupied. We tot we will get our food soon. I was completely wrong. It took ages for each items to arrive. There were no tissue paper on the table. After serving the food he just disappeared without providing us with the cutlery. There were frequent power cut ( at least 4 to 5 times power went off , not sure whats wrong with their generator)
Ok now to start with we ordered Chicken satay which was good, then we ordered stir fried chicken which was just ok, then we wanted to try chicken lollypop which was not available.
Next we ordered shakshuka, didn't like it. Next we ordered chicken roulade which was not available so we ordered chicken fattouch arabic platter which was really good. Next we ordered classic wheat waffle which was also good. I feel this place is not good if you want to have more non veg items. If you want to have healthy food you can definitely check this out.

Foodie Gorilla’s Rating

Food - 3.5

Ambiance - 4

Value for money – 3

As we stumble across this restaurant nestled out from the main street, we didn’t had a second thought, the decor was so soothing and welcoming. Standing by their name, wooden tables, high stool counters and plantations adorns the environment here. A juxtaposition of being raw and cozy. Complementing the same is a health oriented menu, which certainly has the organic touch to it. You will find sandwiches, breakfast platters, burgers, salads and chicken starters/ light eats here. A good collection of books and board games will help you eke by your time here.

Courticious and genial staffs will guide and help you selecting your stuff as well. They know their stuff. What we ordered?

Shakshuka:

Poached egg in tomato, pepper and onion gravy served with salad and pav. That’s a whole wheat pav for you. Shakshuka is a mediterranean dish and I was delighted to find it here. For those of you wondering how it tastes, it will feel like a version of pav bhajji with egg. But, a recommended one.

The not so contemporary Jowar special pancake made from organic jowar flour served with maple syrup and cream. Felt fiber rich and decent as well.

We also had a chance to grab on some fresh smoothies and few more pancakes with banana and cream.

When near the neighbourhood I would definitely want to visit them again and try some of their breakfast specials, cause they really looked tempting.

The menu is not updated on zomato. Their Mexican curry had paneer in it because it said vegetarian. And when asked the waiter actually said the menu mentions that paneer would be there. Not very many healthy options for a Cafe that is listed in the healthy category.

Looking for some calm and lovely place in Kalyan Nagar then don't forget to visit this restaurant. The ambience is pretty good. The food is also good. One has a variety of options to choose for. And the staff is also very supportive. They have book shelves and you can select over many books to sit and read there as its a calm place. The food quality and quantity is good too.
Do visit this place

In search of a good brunch spot with a healthy menu, I stumbled upon Raw Straw. Since then it had been in my bookmark and I finally decided to go there once Sunday morning for brunch. It is a small café secluded from the bustling main roads.

As we entered, we were seated and the staff were courteous. Each wall in the café is differently decorated and the seating is divided into a raised upper section with chairs and tables and a lower section with cement chairs for a more rustic look and also good for groups.

We decided to order the very berry smoothie bowl, veg ragi tacos and creamy open sourdough. The food took a while to come so we decided to play a few board games which were present there. The service is a bit slow but the food totally made up for it.

The very berry smoothie consisted of mixed berries and bananas blended to a smooth consistency. It was topper with sliced apple, bananas, toasted oats, chia seeds and granola. It tasted heavenly and I totally recommend it. It was so delicious that we finished it so soon which left me heartbroken because I kept craving for more.

The creamy open sourdough consisted of toasted sourdough smeared with pesto, topped with lettuce, creamy mushrooms, chopped tomatoes and onions. This too, was scrumptious. The one problem was that the sourdough was toasted a bit too much which led it to being extremely crunchy and difficult to eat. Other than that, it was perfect, the mushrooms were flavourful, the sharpness and acidity of the onions and tomatoes balanced it well.

The ragi tacos consisted of soft ragi shells filled with grilled veggies like different colour bell peppers, broccoli and carrots and was topped with chopped tomatoes, onions and a creamy yogurt sauce. The taco shells were not too rubbery or hard which is usually the problem when ragi is used. It was soft and the crisp veggies had their flavour intact.

Overall, I really loved the place and would love to come back again, any day!

Ambience- 4/5
Food- 4.5/5
Service- 3.5/5

Stalling myself on the roads of HRBR layout,I came across this place. A neat cafe with great hospitality and good food. If I was a resident of this locality, this would be my daily retreat! Nice collection of novels and a peaceful ambiance. A perfect & healthy-food-options place :)

Positive : Good food, silent place, lot of options in salad and smoothies, Friendly staff.
Negative : Too expensive and late service. Bit boring as there are few sometimes no customers at all.

Really cozy and unique place. They have really good staff and the food was simply delicious and healthy at the same time. They do sell a variety of assorted dairy free butter and some earrings as well. Pleasantly surprised to find that at a restaurant.

We ordered the spinach and corn sandwich and the veg burger along with classic and mint lemonade. They also have the best french fries ever.

Food:5/5
( 1.Burger came along with fries, mayo and coleslaw.
2.Sandwich with fries and salad in honey vinegar dressing)

Service: 3.5/5
( It took a really long time to receive our order)

Ambience :5/5

Cost : 4/5 ( Pretty Pocket friendly , we spent close to 600 for 2)
Was recommended by a friend as a healthy go to place for breakfast/brunch.

They have a variety of smoothies and juices which are not only healthy but yummy!
The pancakes made of jowar were a bit dry but nonetheless good.
Catalan Curry is a must try.

Definitely going back again to try some more of their food.

This cafe is for people who are really looking out for healthy drinks or post workout healthy meals . The ambience is ok and the cafe is well kept. Their detox drink and veg fritata with egg was just fine . It's not a weekend hangout place but definitely a place to find healthy food .

Was told about this place by a friend. The place looks small from the outside but there are many seats and the place is quite spacious. The interior and designs are fascinating. The menu is decent with pocket friendly prices. Tried iced tea, waffles and coffee here. Taste and quantity are good too. Would visit again.

I ordered the English breakfast platter and the amount of food it contains is huge. Eggs and chicken sausages were delicious, baked beans can be improved. Overall, I highly recommend Raw Straw to all the healthy eaters, they know how to do their job just right.

Cute, tucked-in place for a quiet relaxed meal. Love the music played and the service. Vegetarian starters were good— mushroom and baby corn stir fry, to be specific. The only drawback is the food isn’t halal! :(

Been there a couple of times.

It's a bright place with white walls and basic furniture. Wooden tables with foldable metal chairs painted white. There are some board games and novels on the rack which u can grab while waiting for your food.

Had one person manning the floor. Probably has 6 tables. Pleasant and smiling person

First time tried the chicken thukpa and melon and feta cheese salad. The soup was slightly burnt sending a unsavoury smell. The watermelon was overripe and almost in the process of going bad. The honey vinegar dressing wasn't sufficient for the salad.

Wasn't impressed.

So I thought I would give it a second try sometime later.

Tried the same menu with the addition hash brown.

This time the soup was right on the money. Watermelon and muskmelons were optimally ripe. There was sufficient dressing to go around.

Came up to Rupees 700.

Ambience: 4/5

Service: 5/5

Taste: 3/5

Value for money: 3/5.

If the food is consistent with my second trip the next time I go in, I will increase the rating to a 4. Currently a 3.5
This place has everything a cafe should have. Music, books, wallart, pitchers, less crowded, and tasty food with some healthy options. Perhaps the best cafe in this area Good service from john here, chill person.

A perfect date place. They have some amazing White Sauce or Alfredo pasta which was served hot based on our needs. Caricatured walls, dim light and the white background with some epic reads on the shelf makes this place a perfect evening place.🤩

I had ordered from Rawstraw multiple times through delivery apps..but never actually been there and then one rainy day I decided to go and it was phenomenal !!!! The seating is facing the road which has a see through glass. Beautiful scenery. There r beautiful planters outside d restaurant.

I had ordered a watermelon feta salad, Ragi crepes, ABC Juice, Oats hashbrowns.

Ambience: Couldn't be more perfect n romantic.
Food: On point with presentation & taste.
Staff: Super friendly & courteous.
Lunch outing with a dear friend, she had tried this place before and said I’d love it - and I did.

Welcoming no frills ambiance and staff. Comfortable chairs with cushions

We ordered ginger and mint lemonade (which was green due to the peppermint syrup I think) refreshing

And we shared ragi tacos - bursting with fresh veggies and a creamy sauce, mushroom and baby corn stir fry salad that was done right and a veg penne Arabiatta pasta which was spicy with olives & peppers .

Felt good to eat here. Shall return for more.

Located on the main road of Kalyan nagar, very cute and serene cafe. Server was very nice and helpful. We tried chicken steak which was cooked well and was juicy and soft. I will recommend you to go here for sure as the food served here is hygienic and healthy.

Since we binged a lot over 2 weeks we wanted to look for some healthy options. Looking at the menu with varied options we opted for this place. It has a very simple ambience which was quite expected. We ordered the following:

Bombay masala french toast- I am huge fan of spicy french toast which is not available readily. It was cooked well and tasted heavenly. The only thing which could have been bettered is the level of spicyness. For me it was ok as I can bear it but for my wife she was in tears after one bite.

Cheese Mushroom Crepes- taste wise it was very good however it was extremely cheesy which suppressed the taste of everything.

Ragi Tacos- This was the best of all. It tasted amazing and smelled very fresh. I would suggest them to rename it as it was not even close to tacos. It was actually a wrap.

Fruit topped waffles- This was very disappointing. They used some berry syrup which was too sweet and tasted too bad.

Golden Exilir mocktail- It was average n little pungent than expected.

Overall a nice place to try variety of healthy stuff under one roof!!!

A nice cosy place in one of the more quieter and greener bylanes of Kalyan nagar nestled between yoga, dance and other fitness classes.Good place to have your healthy juice or coffee over conversations.Have tried their tea and being an adrak chai lover ,I could appreciate this place better if they can really master the art of brewing tea with the spice correctly.

Had ordered chicken with cheese sandwich and chocolate waffle online through an app.I loved the food and along with the sandwich fries were crispy and tasty. Hope to order food from this place again.

Food was not very tasty and was over priced. We ordered pancakes and they did not taste like pancakes at all. Ambience was good. Service was decent.

A good place for you to eat healthy and bring your pet. I wish there was a branch in koramangala. I've been here twice and the food is quite tasty for those looking for a healthy option. If you are vegan then this is a good place for you. A good place to chill out with friends (in a group) or by yourself. SInce I work nearby, this was a good find when I want a healthy option for lunch.

Sometime back, i got a private message on my Instagram, from RawStraw to try out their cafe and indulge in their magic. We visited it today and well.. were pleasantly surprised.

Let me tell you, eating healthy has NEVER tasted so good!

The cafe is located in a predominantly residential area and has a pet shop a level below it. Needless to say, the cafe is pet friendly, which is a first in a very long time, this side of town.

The decor is simple, almost utilitarian, but tastefully done. The full length glass walls overlook the main road and have high chairs and a wooden ledge that serves to place your order. This, along with the white walls and minimalistic show pieces (book ledges, a custom wall art corner, etc) makes the cafe look very spacious.

Since we walked in at around 4.30 for a customary Saturday late lunch, we were the only patrons at the time and didn’t look snobby while taking pictures!

We ordered a very berry smoothie, hashbrowns, egg and cheese sandwich, a massaman fish curry, and 2 filter coffees. Have listed the highlights of the meal, below.

The smoothie was a first - I’ve never been served a smoothie in anything other than a mason jar/mug or a long sundae glass. The flatware made sense as the garnishing was on point, and it was so many spoonfuls of bliss!

The sandwich was nothing new, but the point to note was that the seasoning was perfect. Not a tinge of extra salt nor a large flake of pepper in excess. The fries did not have the oily texture and seemed to have been air fried, yet retained its crunch and flavor.

The Massaman fish curry was something to die for. Technically, it is not exactly the Massaman style, but more like a spicier fish moily. The missing distinctive taste of the peanut oil or the absence of peas and other ingredients were quite evident, but the gravy was divine! There were two healthy fillets of basa which seemed to have been seared well and set the flavor and texture of the gravy, which along with a portion of red rice was enough to make a Malayali like me smile contently.

Overall, this will rate as one of the better places i have enjoyed having a meal at. The wife and i have also made a mental note to try out the Swiggy route in case we can’t make it to the cafe!

Thoroughly enjoyed the meal!

Just one suggestion I have is, to reduce the bass on your music. The Sony speakers tend to have a deep bass output and even listening to Demi Lovato pounding Confident, can be quite a earful amidst the serenity.

Best,
The Wandering Epicurean
Good healthy food, like the ambience.. portions are a little less though. But definitely worth coming back for another visit..& so we're here for the second time! ;)

Great ambience. Perfect for casual breakfast or dinner. I've been here thrice. Great choice for those who like to eat healthy. Breakfast platter was yum. A little pricey but it's worth it.

We ordered for pita bread grilled falafel sandwich. The falafel was tasteless n burnt, the pita bread was stale, the lettuce was disgusting and the hummus tasted so terrible that one would want to spit it out. Very very bad rawstraw. This is disgusting.
I have mixed feelings about this place. Why? Read on ;)

Ever since the time I read some raving reviews about this place and the fact that it was right opposite to my dance studio, I couldn't wait to pay a visit, specially to check out their healthy breakfasting options.

So, was here over the weekend and we'd ordered for a masala omelette and espresso pancakes which apparently are made with no maida and naturally the healthy version. And it sounded so delicious (check out the menu to see what I mean)

They take a good 20-25 mins prep time as everything is put together after u place the order, so u can be rest assured that you aren't eating anything stale!

When we received our order, unfortunately for us, the pancakes paled in comparison to the omelette. While the former was quite a bit hard and dry (and three of it on the plate made it a bit hard for me to finish off!), the omelette was completely on point. Served with a side of mashed potato and 2 pieces of toast, it was perfectly done! (reducing the stars for the pancake alone as I was not too impressed on that front).

The staff are extremely courteous. Also, the best thing is the ambience. They have a few books as well incase you want to make a long and relaxed meal out of your visit. Check out the pics for deets (forgot to take of the food though :D)
Healthy and yummy food, beautiful ambiance and pet friendly! What more do you ask in a cafe?

The food’s absolutely delightful and surprisingly quite reasonably priced. If you love books, pets, healthy food - this is the place for you!

Been here a couple of times....
The place is simple and good, food alright...
The raw papaya salad was mouthwatering when we went there the first time, all veggies thinly sliced, its really a treat to eat!
The second time we went there, the papaya was cut really thick and hard to eat, so bad consistency
The watermelon feta salad is to die for.
If you have not had healthy waffles and pancakes before, made out of oats or ragi or bajra, you shouldn’t try it here. It will not even be close to the real deal. They were too dry and the eggs in it was too much, so feel free to give it a pass. Even after returning the dish after taking 2 bites, we were still charged for it. I would expect them to automatically offer to bot charge for it, especially when it happens on a couple dishes.
The food there is really both a hit and a miss, some very good and some really bad.
Please be consistent in your food.
The service was good, though we had to ask for our food a couple of times as it took a bit of time to bring it to our table.
A decent place which can do super well of they take care of stuff and serve amazing food the same way everytime
Teena Philip
We ordered the detox, the teriyaki chicken and the bruschetta. The detox was lovely - tasted fresh and yummy. The teriyaki chicken was overcooked and lacking a depth in flavor but not terrible. The bruschetta was fresh but the way it was piled up the toppings k will stick to their juices next time!
Siji George
Stopped by a wed afternoon around 12 to have a quick bite ordered the broschetta and teriyaki chicken and the detox.
The broschetta was raw indeed but had a tangy taste, while the chicken seemed to be over cooked and chewy. Did mention to the waiter and he had a blank face.
Also while the menu specifically mentions that service charge of 7% is voluntary when they bring the receipt they include the same unless you ask them they correct the bill
Vartikka Kaul
I ordered a fish in lemon sauce and a portion of bushchetta. Fish was well cooked, appropriately melt-in-the-mouth and mildly tangy. The mashed potatoes were very delicious and thankfully, well seasoned, something I find lacking in most other restaurants. Bushchetta was so fresh and crunchy that I felt I should have ordered another portion.

I just feel the prices are a bit on the higher side and even with the quality, they are a bit unjustified. If they rationalize that a bit, we can enjoy their food a lot more.

I visit this restaurant regularly when I'm in Bangalore. Would mostly drop in for breakfast, the healthy options are really great on the menu, espcially the breakfast platter. They do however have great choices of omelettes, cereals and vegetarian dishes. Me being on a Keto diet as well I get a good variety of options. Quality of food is above all other restaurants that I have had around Kalyan Nagar for breakfast. The mash potato is just to amazing. yes, I am on Keto but the mash potato is just simply to good and real! :D
The Ambience also adds a great feel to the dining experience. Its calm, if you are in a rush, this place will calms your senses and at the end you can sip on some nice ginger tea ;) I'm a huge fan of the Adrak ki Chai.
So, again being on Keto haven't been able to try a lot of the other options on the menu. But Im sure they are fantastic. A new non-veg menu is up with dishes like fish n lemon sauce (which I have tried and is also great) and yes could reduce the size the garlic in the sauce as it get a bit over the top after a while. Also dishes like chicken satay, chicken teriyaki and a lot more. Please do visit this sweet place and I'm sure you will leave with a happy tummy. :)
P.s: One more thing I would like to point out is that the veggies are so fresh. This is really important as people don't pay a lot of attentions to the quality of the vegetables that come with the meal. Haven't faced any such problem here. Hope this helps. Oh yes and Pets are allowed. So if you walking your dog and you pass by Raw Straw. you don't have to think twice before going in. cheers. :)

Food is okayish.. they can work on improving taste even the masala omelette was bland...may b the focus is more on healthy food rather than taste... However even healthy food can be made interesting... serving portion is small
Service is excellent... Prompt and friendly staff
Ambience is great too..

We ordered the thupka noodle soup and the Catalin curry. Was awesome. When food is cooked with keeping only flavours in mind, then this is the place to goto. Looking forward to many more visits to go through the menu. Simple and elegant decor.

One of my faavvvv places in recent times...
The Ambience is so lovely...
I love the choice of food- healthy options and different stuff that you don't get in most restaurants...
The waffles were bit hard... Should have been soft..
And the filter coffee was not so great..
But the other stuff that we ordered - Mumbai masala French toast, Spanish chicken omelette, omelette with feta cheese and chia seed with muesli parfait were all really nice....
So I loved this place and will keep going back....

I really like the ambience, the welcoming host and all the board and card games available to enjoy with such tasty food. The restaurant is far away from the noisy roads and in a corner where you only hear soothing indoor music. Very healthy options for people who don't want extra fat/butter. I will definitely come back to this place. Mahitha (she runs the place) , pls keep going on.

One of my favorite go-to spots! Healthy, yummy food that I can eat everyday. Everyone working is so nice and the atmosphere is cozy. Good place to relax and spend some time journaling or reading.

RawStraw - A warm happy heart will be a "Straw in the wind" after you visit this place for good food and a cheerful 'n satisfied time. This delightful restaurant is a must visit place to spend/share some quality time with your loved ones. The ambience is lively with great set up with extraordinary food and polite service. I ordered a Pesto pasta with some drinks and I must say the presentation, taste and the flavour of the pasta was remarkable. This is one of the best places around the shores of Kalyan Nagar , Babusabpalya and I definitely recommend anyone to try this place.

With a beautiful interior, this space is the perfect place in Kalyan Nagar to enjoy some healthy food. Not only healthy, each dish is delicious enough to make you try again. I tried turmeric latte which is pretty good with fresh grounded turmeric. Waffles are so good with peanut sauce. And if you like salads, you can get that too. bruschetta with cheese is all time favorite.

Sunday Breakfast

Located in a very decent place of Kalyan Nagar extension. Parking is bit a concern.

Ambiance : Very Lively look & feel, a casual style seating - You get a feeling when you sit in the restaurant that one is gonna eat organic food.

Food : I am guessing that they believe in Organic Food - Whole menu is build accordingly. Since it was breakfast time so ordered - Scrambled Egg - Tasted OK OK... Next was Espresso Pancake - Made from Jowar flour its tasted healthy. Also Christmas Special - Dark Chocolate Cake - Was yummm...

Price : Thought bit expensive - Looking at the quality & quantity.

Recommended for once who particularly Eat or wanna try Organic Food or Gluten Free food.

Great place. Nice variety on the menu, great ambience, free WiFi. Definitely coming back. French fries are yummy, chicken satay was tasty. There were games for our kids to play which made it a peaceful mealtime for us parents.

Ordered Pesto pasta, berry smoothie and Chicken steak! All three were really good and a special mention to pesto pasta!!! The music and their ambience was wonderful!

I love the place the their breakfast options. I got a chance to try their very berry smoothie bowls which came with a lovely balance of tart and sweet. The museli gave a good crunch to the dish. I also tried the fried eggs which came with a side of mashed potatoes - buttery, herbaceous and absolutely addictive. Of their savory dishes I also like the sourdough bread with pesto spread, topped with lettuce and cheese.

I came across this place on Zomato while craving healthy, satiating food (read Pesto and grain-free). I'm so thrilled I gave this place a shot :) Ordered the pesto millet salad which had the most lovely consistency to it. The veggies in it were fresh and flavourful. Absolutely delightful ! Also threw caution to the wind and ordered the chocolate brownie! Contrary to popular belief, sugar and maida are evidently not the only route to guaranteeing a yummers moment! The Green Smoothie is delicious despite what goes into it! They have perfected the balancing of the different flavors and I'd strongly recommend it ! Delightful place all in all! Looking forward to their jowar pancakes the next time

They server only healthy food. If you're a junk eater like me then this is not the place for you. I was surprised to see different food options, though I did not like the taste much but it was healthy food. Ambience is also good.

Belgian Chocolate Brownie Waffle is a super hit dessert will be liked by every age group by the it's their signature dessert. I have forgotten about Saksukha it's a nice dish layered and topped with egg. The whole wheat bread was awesome served with this. In Beverage Antioxidant is a refreshing drink you must try.

Bon Appetit Chef BB

The good:

1. Vegan options are marked with a green V.
2. The food was good. Desserts were awesome! We had the chocolate peanut ganache, brownie and blueberry cheesecake. All were vegan of course. The cheesecake was exceptionally good.
3. Chill ambience.

The bad:

1. The waiters seemed a bit clueless about whether other options on the menu could be veganised. We would’ve ordered other food if we knew that before hand cause the vegan options seemed limited. We found out much later from another gentleman that they could veganise the food that wasn’t marked with the green V. I appreciate that someone was brought to clear this up!

Tip:

Ensure that the staff has knowledge about the menu and all the items that can be veganized.

Look at introducing more vegan options and work towards eliminating non vegan items entirely.

I liked the theme of the restaurant. It has a raw appeal with books placed over the shelf. It has a variety of dishes available. All dishes are vegan in nature. I tried peanut butter smoothie. It was great in taste. Another thing i had was millet nd paneer kofta.it tasted gud. Yet i found oil floating in paneer kofta curry. If chef can try to reduce the oil content. It will be perfect for health conscious people. Apart from that its a nice place with courteous staff.

Had been to this lovely place last night as we wanted to try something different. Never new healthy stuff could taste sooo good. We tried the Tenderade which had the perfect balance of tender coconut and the mint lemonade, mexican buddha bowl which was a little spicy and tasted really nice and the blueberry cheese cake was just amazing which had the coconut cream which was so light and so nice. Loved the place, its decor and the whole experience of eating tasty healty food. It was really nice meeting the owners, Mahitha and Sagar. 😊 Great job team RawStraw!!! 👍

I was beyond excited to see an eatery near my home with clearly labelled and enticing vegan options. The staff and owners were very helpful and they seemed eager to see happy customers.
Now coming to the food. We ordered a bunch of things.

The high protein wraps- it had a clean, fresh taste but the wrap broke apart when we were trying to eat it.

The chickpea Buddha bowl with apple salsa- an interesting, tangy creation.

The coconut curry noodles- I had great hopes, but I was disappointed. The flavours were not robust, the curry needed seasoning and body.

Next we had the desserts- which were all vegan. Hurray! The blueberry cheesecake was subtle, sweet and delicious. A little more tang in the creamy base and some more punch of sweetness and this would be bend your knees delicious. The peanut butter chocolate ganache was divine.

So in the end my takeaway. This is a quaint, beautiful eatery which gets full appreciation for being vegan friendly. However, vegan food is not bland or “healthy” to the point where the flavours are muted. Taste is after all the single most important reason for people to come back to eat in a place and in the cut throat world of restaurant repeat business ensures survival.

So, I hope they tweak the flavours and textures, and make the food even more enticing because when I or anyone for that matter, pay 250 odd for a dish, I need to have my mind blown. It’s 2017 guys, vegan food shouldn’t be an afterthought.

I know, I sound slightly critical, but I will be happy to eat from here again; try new items and give honest feedback as a foodie. I want them to grow and stay successful and these were my two cents. Wishing them luck.

A lookout for a breakfast joint on Sunday morning landed us here. After a 10k run nearby, I was ravenous but wanted to eat healthy food and realized there is a new place in this area.

Though this area has its fair share of cafes and restaurants, very few are open at 9am and most importantly almost none offer healthy options as their main draw.

The place is a bit quirky with a upper and lower floor seating and a nice view of the road. The decor is simple with a long wall filled with off beat health quotes. There is a section with books and a few games.

We started with an order of 2 of their fresh health juices called Green Juice and Antioxidant. The green juice was a combination of Celery, Spinach, Apple, Cucumber with a bit of ginger and mint which was perfect if you are familiar with that taste. The Antioxidant was a combination of carrot, orange, pineapple with a bit of ginger. I preferred this drink as it was a bit light than the other drink though equally healthy.

For breakfast, my friend chose the Protein wrap and I went for the Egg white with cheese & roasted veggies. The protein wrap was a tad bit dry and it was difficult to finish the dish. My eggs were a bit of a lost cause as it turned out to be baked dish filled with loads of veggies hence it was difficult to find any eggs in my food.

I would definitely give this place another try as some of their post 11 am menu sounds interesting.

Went to RawStraw today afternoon after some work for a late lunch at about 3 pm. We were the only patrons. Definite pluses : The waiter was new but very friendly and we felt right at home with the Jenga and books all around us.
Could be improved : The food itself. We ordered : The potato and egg salad. Here the potatoes were dehydrated to the point of being chewy. It was difficult to bite it. The chocolate and peanut butter milkshake : has an overpowering taste of banana that can definitely be done away with; since we're visualizing a peanut butter and chocolate flavour. We also ordered a tenderade which was decent. The expresso pancake was a tad too dry, with the add on chocolate sauce coming as miniscule portions that is not enough for 3 pancakes. We had to order the chocolate sauce another time as an add on. Food can definitely be improved.

Fresh ambience, pet friendly, amazing gluten free and vegan options. The cinnamon millet cake was completely gluten free and amazing. They have haldi doodh on the menu too 😊
Visited RawStraw today and it was an overall good experience.
We started off with the banana breakfast smoothie and the smoothie bowl, they tasted the same and were both pretty good, the bowl however was very aesthetically pleasing.
The shakshuka and the tagine bowl were okay but the potato and egg salad was downright delicious. Highly recommend that.
Edit : visited again today and I'm quite disappointed.
Tried the non veg items on the menu along with the cinnamon dolce smoothie bowl, lemon iced tea and the watermelon-musk melon drink.
The smoothie tasted only of banana with the faintest hint on cinnamon. The iced tea was definitely not good. The melon drink I'd have to say was the best out of these.
Now the food, chicken satay, chicken and broccoli stir fry and teriyaki chicken.
The chicken satay was quite spicy, served with a spicy dip and a haphazardly thrown side salad, DISAPPOINTING. The chicken and broccoli dish was delicious but again, just dropped onto a plate. The chicken teriyaki was the only well plated dish, the chicken was cooked well, teriyaki sauce was delicious but the side salad with spicy coconut mixed through it and honestly, all we could taste was the coconut. Small portions tbh. Definitely not enough to be a main course. Service definitely wasn't the best and they had @7% service charge. NOT WORTH IT. so changed my rating from 4 to 2.5.

Amazing food. Most importantly, amazing people. Their food is flawless if you are looking for a healthy option. I had given some suggestions the last time I had their Thai Style Coconut Curry soup and they made it the next time taking into consideration all the suggestions. Really have to give it to Sagar and his partner to make the customers feel special. Also if you are looking for a nice place to sit and work, this is the place. Good WiFi and a calm ambience.

A beautiful place tucked in the neighborhood. Loved the ambience and the calmness. The food is excellent and loved the healthy desserts. Tried the Magic Green smoothie and it was refreshingly yumm and delightful. I have to try the Buddha bowls in my next trip again to this place. Having healthy food while working is a "honey on the healthy cake" :). Generous hosts and polite service. I can go back again and again.RawStraw proves Healthy food need not be boring and tasteless!

Super nice place, ideal for breakfast or a quick healthy lunch. So happy there is a healthy option near us. Good service friendly staff and owners.
I went for breakfast with a friend, she ordered the Chia sees n muesli parfait and was really happy with it. I ordered the Oats and peanut butter waffles... also very nice only feedback would be that there could be more peanut butter as I couldn't really detect the taste in there and the banana was not enough for such a large portion of waffle and not caramelised....
But it didn't take away from the fact that it was indeed a fulfilling super nice brekky!
Also had the coconut water n lime drink super nice!!
Definitely recommending and going back :)

Healthy ! Vibrant ! Colorful ! PeaceFul ! --- A Happy Place to Be ! This is the one liner for this cafe!

The Place is filled with joy . As soon as you enter the place you feel the warmth which uniquely grows inside you, with the place. A lot of vibrant colors , with greenery inside, adds to the stunning decor.

Health is Wealth - You understand this once you look down the menu. If you are a health freak, this place should be on your top list to visit. Situated in a calmer place, around Kalyan-Nagar with no traffic is added plus.

We ordered Tea and Detox.
Tea --- The best one in town.!! You don't get sugar with tea - You get Jaggery. I never had tea with Jaggery but Yes. It tastes Excellent.! Kudos !!
By one sip of Detox, we could make out that it is really a Detox. !! Kudos to that as well! \m/

Freshly prepared Brownie is a must. !

Trying to act as a health freak, we ordered falafel salad bowls with roasted beetroot. And we adored it. Awesome ambience loved the interiors here, they have used upscaled wood for the furniture, lighting concepts are just cool. Now on the food, my wife n I are chocoholics so with all obvious reasons we went for the choco-peanut smoothie n the Belgian choco waffle. I loved the smoothie just the perfect taste. On the Belgian waffle theres one thing to say, It's Premium class. Add dollops of honey it will take the taste to another level.

"we'll be back" for the all day breakfast
Pallavini Patra
There are a lot of breakfast places in BLR but very few that can boast of a clean eating menu. Being that clean eating freak that reads all labels - never makes a cake with refined flour - cringes at packaged food - you get the drift, I had to try it.

Liked the smoothie bowl, the espresso pancakes which were somewhat gooey in the centre and I am unsure if it was intentional but either way kinda liked it.

Good attempt I'd say. They should aim at perfecting the menu that came with its small misses and has the potential to be awesome if taken care of.

After having mango cheese cakes in Cakewala, nothing would come close to substituting cheese i thought, vegan friendly and gluten free blueberry cheesecake with coconut mousse and oatmeal base was much lighter and more transitive in flavour than cheese and biscuit base, added to that was freshly made filter coffee to top it all up, given my sweet tooth, i chose dessert and coffee.

Though, they have all-day breakfast, waffles, pancakes and much more wider spread made of zero maida, free of preservatives, cane sugar and unprocessed ingredients

Amazing ambience, good option for breakfast place with relaxed environment. Food is simple, tastes like home cooked, fresh and healthy. Must try place for lazy Sunday breakfast.

One of the nicest places I've been to. The couple who run this place are friendly and have some great suggestions. The food is presented really well, is healthy, tastes awesome, and has perfectly sized portions. It's great that they don't use any additives or preservatives at all. We will be back for more, with more friends, soon. Very soon.

Very Nice place. Excellent interiors...Limited but great variety of dishes... They have vegetarian as well as few egg dishes. All the dishes are fat free and gluten free.. There are few board games also.. Great place to hangout with friends..

Loved every bit about this cafe!!
The healthy food options, the music, and the service!
Tried the savoury Waffles and Green detox juice, it was quite filling and tasty.
Other than having books, board games , they also boast of being pet friendly and free WiFi too!
Will definitely be back for the Buddha bowls soon.

Want a healthier alternative in terms of ingredients when it comes to waffles and desserts....yes you heard me right...a healthy cafe in Kalyan Nagar .... RawStraw is it.

Had the Belgian Brownie waffle... whoa, no sugar, no maida and no colors used, so surely it was a healthy and guilt free dining experience. Will be back for sure.

RawStraw – The child of a lovely couple (Sagar and Mahita), dedicated to serve HEALTHY FOOD with a twist.

I had seen this place shape up, infact a board that said ‘Healthy food’ on its way. It always made me assume a restaurant that served home-made type of food with less spicy, less oily, or a organic-food store was coming up in this place. But, to my surprise it was a cafe that served healthy food!
One fine day, a few days back, I saw the place being open and with all the excitement I walked in to explore it.
Very next day I walked in again to be greeted by the lady of the café, who welcomed me with a warm smile. The conversation began, ‘Are you guys Open?’ ‘Yes, we are open to public from today’. I checked on their business hours and said I will be back soon. Visited the place the same day. Also Yesterday.

To me RawStaw’s decore felt like being in a gardener’s drawing room: I say this because they have lined up a huge pots of indoor plants and also a few collection of succulents in small pots inside, and a lot of plants welcome you at the entrance. Also, a small collections of books, Chess board, Set of Uno cards to occupy yourself as you wait for healthy food to be served. I loved the lighting and also small area that could be used for workshops if anyone would like to use that place for some knowledge sharing or any learning. Loved that part the best in here. Furniture is simple yet comfortable for the purpose. A small wall with a graffiti, with few inspiring quotes in them. Loved the warmth the place to offer. Loved the soft and soothing music that was played there.

Very first day of my visit, on Mahita’s suggestion I chose to eat Potato and Egg salad, Chef’s reco, GLUTEN FREE and Local love. The salad was served in a cute porcelain dish with grilled baby alloos, sliced boiled eggs and a Salad of rocket leaves, Olives and lettuce and a olive oil dressing with mild spices. Then I get to know the potatoes go in though a cycle of marination with mild spices, and are grilled with the outer skin so that we do not lose it’s nutrition elements. It was Yummy and quite a filler too. I specially loved the combo of Egg-Potato and the tangy taste of rocket leaves, which was infact a new taste for me.

Then as it was their second day of operation I was given a NiceCream as a compliment. “A nice gesture”, this was a Banana-Mango Nice Cream, a in-house preparation without any artificial flavor, preservatives or additives, and sugarless. Wolla, a guilt-free indulgence. Banana Mango and Basil creamed-up together and frozen to make you feel nice in its every bite. Loved it too.

On my second visit, upon Sagar’s recommendation I chose to have a Pesto Millet with tomatoes and Fresh mozzarella Salad – the salad was made using foxtail millet and in-house pesto sauce along with grilled-zucchini, cherry tomatoes and fresh mozzarella cheese. Another gluten free salad in their menu. It was a bit bland at the first go, but later on loved the mild flavors of pesto sauce and cheese and small pieces of rocket leaves, it was all put together perfectly.

The choices of juices they have to offer are a bit different too, antioxidant, Miracle drink. I somehow got driven to the name Golden Glow Elixir Juice, seriously reading it sounded like a name of a beauty potion from some fantasy cartoon series! You drink it, you get that ‘golden glow’ sorts. It’s a juice made of Apple, Orange, Ginger and Fresh Turmeric. Was expecting it to taste like Granny’s Kashaaya. But NO! It was blended to perfection. Little turmeric surprise, a little gingery hint to the juice. To make a note here, all their juices and smoothies are made without water, no artificial or bottled flavors. I specially loved the uniqueness of this juice.

On my first visit to this place, I had known they make Jowar Pancakes and the batter is made freshly, and needs a bit of time to be prepared. As it was not available then, the curious me said why not try that today. Ordered that too, a Sugarless, fluffy, hot pancakes came-in at. Did not feel it was made of jowar at all. It was topped with peach and Plums and a cute little bottle of honey. To have it with. Yummy, Healthy, Unique breakfast choice.

Hats off to Sagar and Mahita (Beautiful couple behind the concept of RawStraw) for the unique concept and the freshness of the décor that comes in with a warmth in your service. A quote in the graffiti of your café says: “You have to be odd to be number1 – Dr Seuss”, in my opinion I felt “You have to be Unique, determined and dedicated to be special”.

As the quote goes, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and lead the trial – Ralph Waldo Emerson”. This is a path you both have chosen together leaving behind your IT and Psychologist jobs, for the passion to serve healthy food. Hope you lead healthy foodie trail.
All the best.

To rate Rawstraw:

Ambience: 4.5/5

Food: 4.5/5

VFM: 4/5

Service: 5/5.

A beautiful (yes beautiful !! ) cafe tucked in a green lane in Kalyan Nagar. The ambience is very soothing, tastefully done with meticulous attention to detail. There is a lot of thought put into the feel of the place, (Himalayan rock salt lamp, soothing music, earthy and jute decor, handmade cardboard frames , blooming cacti) and minimal or no plastic - all of which I highly appreciate..

I've been here 4 times already, and I should say, THE FOOD IS A DELIGHT ! I'm just so happy to find a cafe in Bangalore, where it is understood that a if a smoothie or juice is correctly made, you wouldn't need to add sugar ! (clap clap)
I have tried the ' Green Magic Smoothie ' and the ' Carrot Watermelon and Flax ' .. favourite-d the green . Fallen in love with the flavours of the ' Antioxidant ' juice(must try).

We tried the Falafal Salad bowl with roasted beet root and the " Shakshuka(must try) . Mind blowing !!!
And this is the only cafe in Bangalore that serves NICE CREAM ( a vegan ice cream, no sugar , no dairy, guilt free indulgence). The staff are very friendly, and most importantly, well educated about the every dish that is being served. The prices are very reasonable, another win!

'Health food' isn't boring or bland if its made the right way with a little TLC .. and this is the lesson to take away from Raw Straw.
Thank you Raw Straw for making health food feel Oh So Stylish!

Really nice cafe with great ambience. Try falafel sandwich and jowar pancake,,recommended for book readers as you can find books to read there,, Great service and amazing owners:

The falafel sandwich was yumm to start with. Grilled tofu salad a must for vegans. Ragi tacos are a healthy twist to the taco culture. The antioxidant juice was great along with the food. Deserts are also super healthy and guilt-free. The interior decor is quite quirky and home-like with a few games to keep you busy and chill with friends. The owners add a special touch to it by explaining each and every item and if you're lucky enough you might even get a complimentary scoop of their in-house scoop of healthy ice-cream! A life savior for all those health freaks out there like me trying to eat guilt-free!

Great ambience, good food and very friendly hosts. The server is also very polite and friendly.

I came across this place on the road and we went for a casual dinner on a week day. But genuinely surprised by the looks and small things they have incorporated to make it stand out.

The lady gave a pack of Uno cards to a group of kids .. sweet gesture. I liked the quotes they gave put.

Their motto is - tasty and healthy food, which is bit rare but they have done a good job :)

I have never had such good Frittata anywhere else, truly loved it. The smoothies have lot of variety. I liked the salad as well.

Must visit place if you like chilled out cafes.

Golden Glow juice is excellent and very fresh taste... Antioxidant Juice is another fresh taste...
Very healthy way to go...

The place is very cool and calm to have great time...

This is a Vegan-with-a-Hint-of-egg restaurant with fixed menu, we tried the Flat noodle Soup in Cocunut Milk with Tofu(RS 280); which was great & Tagine style Buddha Bowl with quinoa(RS 260) which was good, also we got a frozen dessert- crushed Mango & Banana without sugar- this was awesome; even the humble Hot Chocolate(RS 150) tasted nice..I will be back here for the all day breakfast , I feel the pricing needs to be reworked, e.g Soup costed more than the mains; for now carry cash because there was no card machine or bill..but this place is definitely promising!
