Review Dalma Hotel Restaurant - Bengaluru

Pradipta Senapati
Authentic odiya restaurant in Koramangala, their menu is well spread with odia cuisines. Staff is also polite and well behaved! Mutton kasa, Chenna Tarkari, Chungudi besara etc are a must try here!

Went for lunch with friends Pros: Pure odia cuisine Light on stomach Balanced use of oils Everything tasted good Cons: Quantities good be a little more for 245 rs for a plate
Surajit Das
The local Odisha cusines and food in Dalma, Koramangala branch has been tasty as ever. But the interiors and ambience has to be modified. The owner needs to take care of the decaying wall paints, Ceilings , Washrooms, paints, tables and chairs. Frequent change of staff, no supervision by Managers, using an old Dot Matrix printer. Even they couldn't give me a printed Bill. Plz invest money to get back the same image. Don't spoil the name of Dalma and its branches. The reason people avoid coming here is due to the fact that the new Odisha Hotel in HSR is pulling all the crowd. Plz learn hotel management and how to preserve the culture and local delicacy of Odisha.

Food was nice and service was good. Not a big restaurant. We liked our time here.
Sameesh K (Sammy)
3 stars only for the stuffiness in the place due to an open kitchen. Otherwise the taste was simple and value for money. The mutton was juicy and the roti was a good combination with it.
Ritanjali Sahoo
In Mushroom gravy the mustard paste should be cooked more. It tastes raw. Otherwise The food was good.

This is an excellent odiya restaurant near forum mall. Food quantity is not much and also the price. Hence it makes easy to try different dishes. We tried fish, mutton and chicken with phulka. It was good experience. Overall bill around Rs 850 and 2 people were full till mouth. Taste is good, not much spicy. Very simple and tasteful.
Ratiranjan Senapati
Loved the authentic odia cuisine. The Mutton Kasha was awesome. Also the Patra Poda Mutton was mouth watering. A must visit plave to enjoy odia food. Price is average.

One of the best places to have odia cuisine Mutton Jhola , Chingudi Patrapoda was 😍😍

We tried veg thali here which was tasty.specially the kheer.

Very good quality Odiya cuisine is available. Odiya cuisine is unlike any other. From the native region Odissa earlier known as Orissa of Eastern India bordering Bay of Bengal it is a coastal paradise and cuisine is full of tasty items of not just non-veg but also numerous veg items which will make people lick their fingers. In non veg the best items are fish, prawns, mutton, crab and chicken and in veg items are plenty. Name any vegetable and that will be there in the menu. Fried, Curry and boiled versions of vegetables make it just right. It can be had with Rice, Phulka and Puri. The Veg Thali is awesome and so are several of the itemsof the menu. Definitely not to missed at all.

Ambience is good but the food is not upto the mark. You'd get better food in other odia restaurants around the city.

Its a go to place for all odia people who love authenic odia dishes. Being one of them I decided to visit this place with my family on my brother's birthday.

Pros
Its a heavenly place for non veg lovers.
We had ordered handi mutton, prawn masala and rohu fish curry.

Cons
Little congested
The name of the restaurant is not doing justice to the dish dalma. The taste of Dalma was bland.
Overall experience was good
Nisha Bhadra
Best odia sweet dish you can get...chena poda
Bikash
Really really a bad experience. Never ever will visit it again.
Satisfy Ur Cravings
Heaven for odia people. Proper odia dishes you will get here. Fish thali is heaven here. I loved patra poda chingudi. All time favourite place of mine.
Rishika Behera
Go here for the taste of authentic home cooked food. Must try pakhala, Patra poda mansha and janhi rai. Dessert loves should definitely try chhenapoda. I am am Odia abd I go there for having odia food but non-odia people will definitely like the simple, non-spicy flavours.

If you are a Odia and craze for odia food then this is a must visit place. It is just normal and also family based restaurant. The price is very pocket friendly according to their food.We ordered Rice,Panner butter Masala and Alo Gobi curry. The dishes were well cooked and so delicious also the service was really good.
Pritish Ekka
Used to come here for last 5 years but now their service have gone down like anything. They used to give good meals earlier. But now they give small portions of daal/daalma in your mutton thaali and you have to purchase entire plate of daal/daalma to get more. They don't give lemons, chilles, onion like earlier. Too money minded they have become.
Susri002
If u r an Odia and craves for odia food, this place is a must visit. This is not one of the fancy places, its just normal restaurant to have a decent meal. They serve various Thalis which is very pocket friendly and someone can have day to day basis. My personal fav is “chatu patrapoda” . I had been here multiple times and my father-in-law loves the food they serve.
Tarun Suman Mohapatra
I ordered dahi pakhala, sadha besara & saga for home delivery and when i got my order it was a total disappointment. The rice was not cooked well or rather undercooked and the saga item was smelling & tasting stale as if it was previous day's cooked food. This is disgusting for a renowned restaurant who charges a lot for the the food on their menu.
Vivek Pattanaik
It's a very decent place with humble and polite staff. The food literally takes you to the kitchens of Odisha coz the non veg is really good. I had ordered for a chicken kassa and rotis and the amount of spices and quantity of the dish had me licking my fingers. On top of that the authentic odia rasagulla 😍😍😍 I wish I could keep that coming on to my plate. A must try place I'd say. I was delighted that the place was open till 2300 on a rainy day as well.
Jaysmita
Authentic odia dishes.. Feel like home ambience as.. Service is good.. Lots of odia food variety most exciting thing.. Odia sweets also available.. So you would be happy to have a full meal with deserts😊😊
Just one thing fish items need to be prepared more well like macha bhaja and doi macha and fish should be served fresh. Else this place is great one for odia food

Always my go to destination when I crave for authentic odia food . Please improve the rice kheer that is the only dish till date which sucks .
For a person who is from Odisha, this place’s a relief!! 😌🤤🤤 The food just makes you feel like you are home. I tried the dalma there, which is obviously Odisha’s special dish and it was amazing. 😍 Also, I would recommend to have the chattu poda there. It is one of our special dishes and they make it just wowwww. Ratings-
Food- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ambience- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

For one piece of rohu fish they charge 125, food taste is good but the price is way too high. Also cleanliness and hygiene is not up to the mark.
Priyanshu Sekhar
food is ok but pathetic service. Moreover everything that you order in a thalli carries additional charge. It is limited and quantity is minimal. Eat at your own risk

We have ordered some food home delivery through zomato,
This is my fast times, I ordered from this restaurant (DALMA)
We ordered so many dishes,
Chicken patra poda, lassi, rooti, dalma,
Chicken patra poda not that great,
Food was teste less,
Lessi is very nice,
My experience was not that great here,
Very bad experience this restaurant.....
Jagriti Sah
A bit confusing, shows as deliverable on zomato like flashes. Some dishes are available on other food app where as here on zomato they will not be shown even on the menu.

This restaurant is never open for home delivery.
Benudhar Behera
Visited couple of times. Previous it was v good.
The quality degraded over time. This time Rosogala was of very bad quality and when I informed the same, neither the staff or the owner took serious and just ignored.
You may also expected to get hair from alu bharta.

Nonveg taste is good. I would recommend before ordering try to test.
Sudipta Panigrahi
I was greatly disappointed with this place...We asked for pakhala along with prawn curry and potola kassa...they said one pakhala won't be enough for two..we ordered 2 pakhala plates instead he got us 2 pakhala thalis with different vegetables in it..when we told them this.is too much and why didn't he inform us the waiter lied that pakhala comes with different food items as well and as such we asked them if he could cancel the remaining orders but he denied... during payment he charged us for pakhala thali when we had ordered for just pakhala and when he asked he told us that we could have cancelled... when he said that it can't be cancelled anymore...and also the quality of food was disappointing.
Sanjay Priyadarshi
Horrible Lunch.waiters don't have patience and push whatever is available.I had ordered for Mutton thali.
Mutton-2/5 -seems to be sheep rather than Goat.
Rice-3/5
Alu Bharta-2/5
Dalma-2/5

Even we have also ordered a mix veg fry -potato and brinjal
.The quality was 2.5/5.
Sneha Mishra
I ordered veg thali and they gave cold food. And the taste was below standard. I will not think of coming back . Second the taste hardly matched odiya food taste.
Sriya
Overhyped. Went on a weekend to have pakhala. It tastes very ordinary, not even okay types. Rice quality is substandard. Would not prefer to go again. Disappointed
Dibya Jyoti Das
I regularly eat the mutton kosha /Curry from here. Can highly recommend to someone who's craving the odiya style mangsho kosha. I have eaten at 'Dalma' restaurants in Odisha, and the taste here is the same as you find there. The bamboo mutton is also recommended for the novelty of the dish.

Don't hesitate to head here for some good ol' finger licking odiya food.
Naveen Agarwal
Cant express the feeling- the Pokkhal thali was exceptionally good... the only thing I missed was the Bari Chura which was not a part of the thali .. the fries in the meal were nicely done and the chutney was superb... I look forward to coming here again for my summer lunches ..

We went there today. Food was fabulous. It’s easy on your pocket. And you will get some typical Odia food like chicken Patra poda (chicken wrapped in banana leaves and grilled), Panasa katha (raw jack fruit) tarkari (curry). It’s real good.

On the -ve side, service was really slow. One reason is because it’s Sunday and it was completely full. So on a weekend be prepared to wait for at least one hour before being served food. They should increase no. Of chefs and try to pre-prepare some items which are in demand.

Also parking would be a problem.

Finally it’s a basic restaurant serving typical Odia food. Any other option will be limited.

Having said this, I do visit it regularly and will definitely visit again.
Netendra Chattopadhyay
Amazing place for Odia food lovers. Humble and very hygienic. Love this place. Hope they'll open more outlets in the city. Made me nostalgic about home food.

After a long time i had proper odia food...Pakhala with fish fry is always my favourite to have... Also tried their dalam which was pretty decent ..
I love there odia style chicken kasa and mutton...
I will always recommend to have prawn dalam for sure which was tasty.
We ended with a bowl of Kheer which reminded of my home.. sweet and tasty..
A big thumps up to the whole team who amazed us with good food and quality and reminded us about our home...
As we were too late and too hungry could able to take pics.. but i will visit again soon to have food here and take some nice pictures too

Waited for 1 hour before we got a table to sit when everyone else who came after this left with their tummy filled. Most of the dishes were not available. After ordering immediately, it took one hour more to wait for food. Horrible servicing. Food is really good but coz of pathetic service giving one star.

This is a great place to have odia food that satisfies your taste buds. From the staff to the cosy atmosphere along with good food, Dalma is a highly recommended place. The prices are way reasonable too. Had a great experience here. Will surely visit again.

The name Dalma is one of the well-known mix vegiterian dish of Odisha,Dalma restaurant is the best place to carve out for odia cuisine. If you are from Odisha and away from home and miss to have home food then drop in to Dalma and try out bhola bhekti besar, chicken thali, aloo kalara chips the perfect lunch to be grabbed.

Food-3/5
Ambience-3/5
Service-4/5

As an odiya i like the odiya cuisine a lot so one fine sunday afternoon i thought of exploring some odiya food at Dalma. The place was a bit crowded and is not much big in terms of space might be because of the location.
I ordered for Bamboo Mutton, Dalma and Rohi Maccha Besara. The food was served hot and fast. It tasted good but i felt could have been some better if the keema had no bones.Fish was delicious and felt like every spice was perfectly measured and added. In desert i opted for Kheeri, this had a burnt smell and was not great.
Quantity was fine for the price. They had a lot more options in Veg and Non-Veg. The restaurant was hygienic and staff were courteous. I would definitely pay a second visit to try more options.
Souvagini
I am an odia. I ordered puri, dalma,Aloo potol rasha and kheer. Puri was like fully pampad not able to eat. Then Dalma taste was not at all good and as an odia obviously I know the taste. Aloo potol was very bad,Potol was not fresh and they have put all ripped potol in the curry,no taste in the gravy as well only too much oil was there. Lastly about Kheer it was like they have kept in the refrigerator long time n given me. Taste was not great. So don't order from here. Day by day they loosing the quality.
Subhasis Ray
I ordered a mutton masala. And it was worst. Not eat able. So guys don't order from here. I expect at least the gravy would be good but it was even worse.
Amit Ranjan Sahu
Ordered Mutton Kasha, got Chicken Kasha delivered. Please don't do this in the future.
Taste was fine, but prices are considerably different. Hence the dissatisfaction.
PRIYANKA
As an Odia i love odia restaurant and odia cuisine in out side. Dahi baigan is a famous authentic dish of Odisha. I had ordered two plates but the baigan was not good. Full on seeds and not properly fried.totally worthless for buying.
Prathama Mohanty
Wanted to try out some authentic odia cuisine so ended up here today for lunch.

It's a small well maintained outlet in Kormangala. Ambience is not so great. Found it bit congested as well.

Ordered masala papad, steamed rice, rohu fish Besara, Rohu fish onion fry, Roti, Prawn curry and Rasagolla.
Usually in Bangalore if you go to any odia dine they don't use potatoes in nonveg. But this place is a savior. They had used potatoes in fish and prawn.
Both Fish fry and curry was damn delicious. And Prawn curry was mouthwatering. Must try!
They have many options in veg as well. And thalis are also available.

But they had no much options in fish. only Rohu fish was available. Which was a disappointment for us. And even the size of Rasagolla was very small according to the price. That's the reason I have given only 3 *.

Well, Staffs were courteous and service was fast.

I am definitely gonna visit this place to try out their other dishes as well.

Pocket friendly place and delicious food. A must visit place!
Premjit Sahoo
I have been here a multiple times and have also recommended to my bengali and odia friends.. a must visit for all bengali and odia foodies..

If are from Odisha staying in Bangalore then it's a must visit restaurant it's a regional cuisine restaurant, I went with my a friend of mine , we just luved the food n the chicken curry was awesome

Love the food especially Pohala Fish besara, chicken kassa.Friendly staffs and one of the most Hygene restaurant I have ever seen. In love with this place.
Suraj Chhetri
The food served was hot,and the prawns were really succelent and aromatic so was the rotisserie everyone loved the food. The spices added were really good and this place is highly recommended.
Arun Prusty
I visited several times to Dalma but each time i am disappointed, most of time 50% of the menu item will be unavailable, Food taste is not upto the mark also in my last visit i saw very rude/wired behaviour starting from staffs to manager.
Bineet
Nonsense staff and smelling food..............
Prawn curry also pieces and gravy all smelling like stale meat. On complaing they say you should have told is before.eating .... Thuu service
Anindita Saha
amount is low compared to price
Swayamprav Bhatta
I was bit biased as I kept myself checked and didn't write review for dalma as I wanted this to be my 50th review.

This place offers good food at a decent price. Few of my favorites are veg thali, chicken thali, mutton thali, prawn. DALMA is a must try as it is a typical Odiya cuisine.

They do offer sweets but personally they are not upto my liking but they are not bad.

They don't have adequate parking facility. So I am giving one 🌟 less.
Gupt Bhukta
First of all it is not an authentic Odia restaurant. Food is really bad, I order for 2 glass of lassi and it was out of contest. Leaf vegetable had not cooked properly, rice was half boiled ... flagship product dalma is so bad that spoils its original name .... never take any one hear
Bandita
After reading the average ratings in Zomato for this restaurant , I still went there this Saturday afternoon for lunch.the reviews are so very true as nothing tastes even average apart from mansho(mutton) kasha.
FOOD: I ordered chena (cottage cheese) tarkari, dahi baigan, mansho kasha, alu bharta, Kheer, paratha, chena podo, potolo kasha.

1. Mansho kasha was good.

2. Baigan(brinjal) was not cooked at all.And there was no seasoning to it.

3. Cottage cheese was very hard and sticky(not sure how n why)they might have added some binding agent(not a good one) to make those cottage cheese balls which turned out to be awful.

4. Alu bharta was average.but not up to the mark.

5. Paratha was hard ...very hard.

6. Kheer was not fresh.i tasted and returned it.The service boy argued for some time and then agreed to take it back.also didnot charge for the same which is fair and not a favour.

7. Chena podo was not okay as well.

8. Potolo kasha was not “potolo KASHA”.it was just potolo curry.and it tasted like curry.these 2different dishes and not to be misguided to the customers.

SERVICE: Utterly bad.dissapointing service. they served our order on table within 20mins .but the boy just kept everything on the table and went away.we separated the serving plates from the bowls with side dishes.

I will at least never ever visit Dalma again and neither will I suggest anyone to have the Oriya cuisine taste from this place as I strongly felt from the ambience that it’s not a one time fault or mistake.i felt this is how they operate their services everyday.I didnot get a hint of customer service in that 1hour time I spent there.

Most importantly this is not how the authentic dishes tastes like.
Sonali
a bit costly
Souham Dash
Best place for Odia folks or anyone who wants to try Odia cuisine. I prefer Veg Thali on a regular basis. Mutton and Prawns are must to be tried. They have a special Non Veg menu in authentic Odia Style. Loved the place.
Santosh Lenka
Good place for authentic Odiya cuisines. As the hotel named as 'Dalma', you can except dalma in all meal whether it is veg or non-veg. All type of meals are available here. Try for special dishes available on that day. 'Mati Handi Mutton' is one of the signature dish of the hotel, which is awesome. Patra poda items are good. They serve Pakhalo too. Don't go late for lunch as there is chance to get food not in good condition. Once I had faced the same. Ambiance is ok but service is poor.
Bapi
pure Odisha home made mutton.... it will remember ur mother cooked mutton curry.
Sonali
just got one peice fish
Tapas Paul
good taste
Samik Nandi
The Kassa Mangsa was excellent - and the same goes for chhena poda.... what was a dampener was the chhaka tarkari ... it tasted like jalfrezi
Ankita Behura
Chapatis were not at all freshly prepared and it was also raw in some places
Ajit Satpathy
Poor quality of food
Purnima
Food -3/5
Ambience -2.5/5
Service -3/5

Good place for odia food, the thalis are affordable and good. Machcha masala is good although not close to the authentic one. The bamboo mutton was a rip off as the quantity was less for 250rs and also the keema had bone pieces which was disappointing.
Nishit Sadual
Dalma is a restaurant chain, serving Odia cuisine. It derives its name from a popular odia dish, Dalma, made from dal and vegetables that contains chopped vegetables like green papaya, unripe banana, eggplant, pumpkin, gourd, etc. Odia cuisine is typically less oily and less spicy. Coming to this particular outlet, it carries the theme of Akshay Mohanty, a famous Odia singer. We ordered several dishes such as Dalma, patra poda chicken(exceptional in taste), aloo bhaja, chicken Kassa, Rice, pampad, potala tarakri and Chena Poda. The prices were unbelievably low and the quantity provided was reasonable. The service was quick, in spite of the restaurant being crowded. Would surely recommend all to try Odia Cuisine in Dalma! Ordered kanika and dalma , which is an exquisite cuisine of Odisha. The smell of the sweet rice was mouth -watering and the dalma(mixed veg preparation) of Odisha was quite good.Happy dining all the time!!

Awesome food. I love 😍 this food.

Ambience: One word "Homely". Those classic oriya song/music gets you in the mood of food.

Food: Am pretty sure I ordered literally all the vegetarian dishes in the menu. I won't be able to pen all the dishes i ordered i will just put some star dishes:

Chattu patra poda:
Patra Poda was Smokey full of flavours and gives you a taste of that earthiness of burnt charcoal. It was sublime. Do try it with roti.

Besara:
What to say about this classic oriya dish. It made me feel like I was in puri temple having it in Ananda bajar. It was divine.

Nadia bara tarakari:
I tried this one for the 1st time and I have to say it had a very unique taste. Savoury yet with a tinge of sweetness Nd the coconut gave it a nice tropical feel.

Loved it to bits and pieces..at the end good food brings you a simple on your face and I was blushing all the time I was in there.

Everytime being here , feels back to home. Pure authentic odiya cuisines are available. I almost tried everything in the menu (veg only 😜).

I had besara (👍🏻) , chatu rai (👎🏻), dahi baigana(👍🏻❤️) , chatu patra poda ( i tried this for the first time and i loved it 👍🏻👍🏻) , chena tarkari(👍🏻), nadiya bara tarkari ( 👍🏻) , aloo kalara chips (👍🏻) , kheer(👍🏻). Thats all 🤪🤪

Ambience is not so good but at the end good food is all that matter 😇

Price with quantity of goods is very less. I ordered 1 Prawn Curry and I get only 6 prawn pieces and 4 potato piece in the cost of Rs.261/-.(Including Packing charges, Tax and Delivery Charges) The cost is too high but the taste is delicious. Normally it is not good because of delivery time and price matters the most with quantity.

had been a regular customer of Dalma. if you know which food to order, den LL definitely enjoy it.

Visited the restaurant after a long time, Expecting some delightful odia dishes. How ever got a kitchen scrub inside of "Chena Poda", When I showed it to the waiter he just took the piece of scrub and didn't even bother to speak to us or replace the sweet.

When i asked the manager "Narayana Panda" his response was too casual and said "its usual, if you are getting a stone in rice also you should not complain". I Will urge the restaurant to stop defaming odia dishes or name of odisha and I urge people to stop visiting this restaurant.

Service: Waiter pays attention after 20 minutes of your call
Quality: Not even deserves 1
Dish: Less tastier than home made food
Possibly the one and only place in Bangalore which not only serves good odia food but also provides an overall feel of Odisha. The moment you enter the restaurant you just forget you are in Bangalore. We had ordered chicken thali and jumbo prawn. The food was good and the service was decent too. The ambience was good with odia songs playing in the background.

This name just puts in your mind Odiya Food.
I wanted to try something different and thus went to this place to understand the flavor.
I went to their Thali.
The thali was really good as it was fulfilling and ok in taste.
Service on the other hand was too slow.
You might also end up waiting for 20 minutes, if peak hours.

A mustvisit place for authentic odiya food.Awesome taste. They serve the beat oriya food. But a lot more thnings need to b improved.Servise was very poor. Most of themenu items were nt available. The space is little too smal which cnt accomodate more than 20-30ppl .
But all in all i loved thefood and theexperiance. Will visitagain

Its a authentic odia food restaurant. . sply i went for dahi pakhala.. food just good...quality is changed from dalmas other outlate.. i went soo many time to bbsr outlet..i feel too much different between bbsr dalma and bangalore dalma. ...
service is ok..

Heard a lot about this restaurant ,so thought to give it a try as it's a Odia cuisine. Went there with family ordered a veg thali , handi mutton, prawn poda, mushroom Patra poda, jumbo prawn, pomplet. The taste was just above average not upto that mark. Booked table for it but got the table after waiting 20mins as there used to be much rush all the time. Prawn poda was better in taste than other ,the mutton was half cooked which I like to eat so if you want fully cooked then ask for that.Jumbo prawn was average in taste .

Here is the final rating,
Food: 3/5
Ambience: 3/5
Staff: 4/5

Its been long time having any odia food at bangalore finally i got referred from my friend about DALMAS. I visited in a weekend to experience authentic fish curry, what i heard and what i experienced was completely different, the taste was very bad and seems like the fish was not at all fresh agree the serving will take time in all the restaurants but here they have taken 45mins to serve.
Pradeep
I just heard about this authentic odiya restaurant from one of my friend therefore last week I went with my family but the experience i gain was really bad they took lot of time serve my order and finally the test was very bad especially the chicken items were not cooked properly. I would never visit this place again neither will recommended to any of my friends.

So much oil in prawn curry.

We ordered ,dalma, patra chicken , chingudi fry along with rice and pakhala.
#patra chicken was unevenly cooked and had a very basic marination. I got a completely raw piece in my mouth and stopped. The taste and flavours could not pull me back for a second bite even.
#dalma which is one name that got me to the restaurant could not bring a smile as it lacked essence.
#prawn fry was fine but very basic preparation.
#badi Chura was nice with a good balance of garlic fried in mustard oil. It had raw onion also which overall gave a very good taste. Priced at 70 bucks was a shocker as it comes complimentary with a typical Oriya meal .
#khata is sort of a chutney and not a curry. Don’t charge 65 bucks for that and please don’t serve a plate full when you need only a spoon full with a meal .
#quantity of rice served was very very less, on asking for a little more I was secretly charged 25 bucks.
In a nutshell anything ordered on the side , could be some chutney or Onion or a pickle is all chargeable and that too unnecessarily high.
Paying 900 bucks for lunch at dalma was a disappointing experience not just because of the food served but also for the kind of service. We entered at 4:00 pm after checking online that they are open till 4:30pm . Staff was disinterested to serve but was eager to “sell”. Can’t go back for more .

It’s been a while that I wanted to visit this restaurant. Over a year to be precise. Thanks to my foodie friends who value their roots around Orissa I finally landed for lunch last Friday.

On the main road of 6th Block dotted with restaurants, you could easily miss this place as you wouldn’t notice the board of the restaurant on the left as you drive/ride focusing on the road (It’s a one way, and more often than not you find people riding against you on the opposite direction!).

Parking shouldn’t be a problem if you are familiar with the area. There is always a spot on one of the byroads.

Once you walk upstairs, a typical simple set of table, chairs makes the ambience. I found them clean and the large windows allows natural light.

I noticed the restaurant was dedicated to the famous Odiya singer Akshay Mohanty. It shows on their walls and the music playing in the background as you enjoy your meal.

We ordered Dalma Special Veg Thali, Mutton Thali, Sada Bhata (Steamed rice), Pohala Machha Besar (Fish curry rich in mustard flavors), Badi Chura (Sun dried/roasted lentil, garlic and chili crumble with fresh onions) and butter milk.

The veg thali was nice and flavorful except the Mix bhaji and greens were both cold and lacked salt. But the Jaggery flavored kheer that came with it was so delicious that I forgot the experience with the bhajis.

The mutton thali was terrific. The Mansa Kassa (mutton curry) by itself was good enough for the meal, but the Dalma (Oriya style Dal) was really nice and Badi Chura added the crunch and made the meal super delicious!

Both the meals were served with a freshly cut vegetables/salad. In all the three dishes I noticed the cucumber, tomato and onions were cut uniformly and each piece was fresh. In my opinion, to accomplish this isn’t easy even for some of the fine dining restaurants. I found this quite impressive!.

The Pohala Machha had very interesting mustard flavored gravy and the fish itself was cooked very well.

The butter milk was just right. Cold, a hint of tang, spice and salt to comfort on a hot afternoon.

The service was good. The restaurant was getting crowded and the staff were attentive. They are polite and courteous.

At rupees 1433 for two mutton meals, a veg meal and a fish meal along with the buttermilk and the sides, I found it absolutely value for money for a restaurant dedicated to a cuisine.

I have seen the reviews and got impressed by this restaurant for odia food but it was really a bad experience for me and my friends after visiting. I have ordered a fish finally they gave me after 45mins and it was not fresh when we complained the chef himself came out and was arguing with us saying it is fresh item how can you say it is not and he was shouting on us. The place is really dirty and not at all clean.
Narasingh Mishra
This is one of the worst place to visit, most of the item they serves especially fish items are not at all fresh if you complain about it then they rudely behaves with you.

This was one of our very best oriya meals. We ordered full oriya chicken thali which had Rice pakhala too.We were really impressed by the service. The value was very good here overall.
Highly recommended.

Place for having Odiya good. Ambience wise its ok but k. Service and staf at not at all friendly. During rush hours you will hardly find a place. Even the service is very very slow. Food taste is again not that great but yeah you will get the Odiya flavour in every dishes. Curry are mostly watery.

Dalma is a favourite place to visit on the weekend.

But we were disappointed today as there was a long wait.. There was no system to manage the crowd.. No token number was assigned to anyone in the waiting crowd.. if somebody is lucky can occupy a table for his family, that was horrible.

**{[Dalma staff should start calling out the names of the waiting customer n give preference to those who come first. It's a must for DALMA team.. You should not forget Kormangala has many options for us. Respect your customers time...Otherwise YOU might loose your customer base.]}**

Now coming to food review... After long wait when we got the table.. We forgot the waiting time anger.. ;) Patra poda chicken was great.. mati handi mutton kasa was out of the world. pohala macha besara taste was perfect. Chenna tarkari was also lip smacking..

For the quality of food you serve d
Dalma deserves to get 4 stars rating.. but if I have to rate your servicing skills it's 1- 1.5.... After today's experience..

We went to have lunch today although my colleagues review wasn’t good on Dalma. Now we know why they were rated this restaurant below average. The food quality wasn’t good while the price was relatively too expensive compared to other Odisha restaurants in the Bangalore. With respect to the ambience, They have broken AC and it’s quite difficult to seat when the temperature outside is ~35 degree. When asked bout the AC condition, the staffs ignored our concerns. My point is when you make thousands of rupees daily, please spare some penny to improve the ambience inside. So I would advise NO to the fellow foodie for Dalma. For Dalma staffs, please take this honest feedback positively and take the necessary steps.

Looking for authentic odiya restaurant? Don’t go to Dalma.
Last Saturday i went there with my family. I had to wait there for half an hour to get a table. After going there you have to fight for cleaning of the table then again you have to beg for order. They won’t entertain you. At 1:45 pm only most of the foods were over. There were no rice n we had to wait for 30-40 mins to get rice.
When I complained to the cashier he said it always happens on weekends.
Reached there at 1 pm n came out from there at 4 pm.
We feel Food was good because we were completely hungry n starving but there was no satisfaction because of the rude behaviour n poor service.

If you want authentic Odia food, try going to this place. Dalma is a very popular Odia food chain in cities like Bhubaneswar, Puri and glad that they operate in Bangalore too. The ambience is decent and depicts the Akshay Mohanty (legendary Odia musician) theme. However the sweets are not that authentic here and someone from Odisha would agree to this. They need to improvise on their sweet meat quality. On an overall scale it is a must go place to taste the unique Odia cuisine.

Besan curry was not freshly prepared and taste was bitter (ଆମ୍ବିଳିଆ ) not value for money.

I have given one star because I can't gave a rating less than that. Let me start from the beginning. I went with my friend to Dalma on 31st March 2018. We reached there at 2.30PM. It was crowded due to which it took 15 minutes for us to get a table. As I have visited this place several times before, we directly placed the order without any further delay since we were really hungry.
We sat calmly till 3:30PM whereas other customers were shouting and getting angry because of the delay in arrival of food. After 3:30PM we asked the waiter to tell us the status of the food. He did not bother to reply. Another 10 minutes went by I called the waiter again. This time he did not even listen and just said that the order is being prepared. At this I would like to point out that the waiter is supposed to know his duty. Without listening to me, he just went past me.
When we started observing that most of the people are starting to eat( even those who came after us), it really bothered me. I don't know what bothered me more; the waiter's negligence or the beration of people at the restaurant staff. Finally at 3:50PM we had to leave without any food. While leaving the waiter told me that my order is being prepared (so what was being done from the last one hour?).
I never had such inconvenience in my life at a restaurant. Therefore I would suggest people to look whether there is rush at the place. If there is, then it will be prudent to just leave and go to any other restaurant nearby. Food is not the only thing matters. Hospitality is also an equal factor. Otherwise what difference lies between human and animals!

Crab curry was very very good, very nicely prepared just the way I like my crab curries to be also the dry potato subzi which was nice.
But I wish the crab could have been little fresh. It was smelling old and frozen.

Tried the chicken thali here as I reached at 2.30 and thier veg thali was sold out.
The chicken curry was good and so was the accompanying daal, sabzi, salad. This is a value for money place you visit to have a meal that tastes like home.
Ambience is more like a family restaurant style.
Service was very attentive.

Visited for lunch on new year. We knew there would be rush so we booked our table in advance.

We had to wait for some 10 mins and we had our table.

We wanted to have veg thali, but it was over.
So we ordered rice, dalma, kanika/khichidi, tomato chutney, spinach and that days special chatu poda (mushroom with mustard paste was burnt in banana leaf) and in sweets we had Chena podo .

I relished all the dishes and I felt the quantity was less and could have been better.

Taste 3.5/5
Quality 4/5
Value for money 4/5
Ambiance 3.5/5
Food is authentic odia cuisine and is good. However there are several things that needs to be seriously acted upon. The staff is highly unprofessional, and do not know how to treat customers. I visited with my wife. One of the staff asked us to sit on the same side of table as he was expecting more customers. That to when there were no customers waiting and the tables being empty. With this attitude I doubt there will be any more customers coming over. Also you have to call them several times to get the menu order food and even to refill water. Just hated the way they treat customers.

The food is good, not exceptional and they are reasonably priced. We ordered fish fry, mutton kasha, badi chura and chena puda. The fish fry was well made and satisfying. Mutton gravy was right, but they could serve better meat. The badi chura was ok. Chena puda was good. Nice, clean and decent place. If ur in the vicinity and have Oriya food cravings u could visit this place. Will visit again and try their other dishes.

I always prefer veg thali even the Non veg thali is really good.Kormangala we have multiple options available but I would prefer to come here whenever i feel like having Odiya food.During the day it will be much crowded due to corporate rush ,however around 12.30 to 1 noon would be ideal time to visit .Reasonable pricing .

Being from Odisha and living in Bangalore you can't ask for more.I simply loved this place.Authentic odia food.Starting from famous pakhala to chena poda it has everything.
Visited this place in one Saturday afternoon. Couldn't try the non veg here. Will try it some other day.I ordered one veg thali and my friend ordered a pakhala thali. We were so happy to get all varieties of odia dishes. Our soul was satisfied eating authentic odia food.Mushroom patra poda was like an icing on the cake.
Akshay mohanty songs playing in the background will take you to the old times and make you feel as if you are in the state.
Would love to visit here again.Do not miss this place if you are a true odia cuisine lover.

Dalma is all about food from the state of Orissa.

Its on the 3rd floor of the building; very inconspicuous. Ambience and Service not that great.

The Thali at Lunch is a big draw. Dont order the non veg. They have all fancy names for those (matka this, matka that..... kassa this and that) but many a times found them inadequately boiled and dunked into regular gravy!

Dessert: order "Chenna Poda" the quitessential divinely Oriya cottage cheese pudding. Rice Kheer, Oriya style is worth trying.

Been to this outlet for having a dinner with my friend. The ambience of the restaurant was decent. Well cleaned. Coming to the food we have ordered Chakuli, roti, puri, Chicken kasa and Dalma. All were okay in taste except the puri. Coming to the service, it was okay.

I brought my South Indian friends along for an Oriya lunch and it was the worst experience ever. The "Dalma" dish is the worst i have ever had in my life. It was as if the Dalma was prepared by a Chinese!

When I asked to speak to the manager for my feedback, he was not to be seen and then I asked for a register there was none. Prawn curry was priced at 300 plus and all i got was boiled prawns in tomato and water with garam masala. I have never had such bland prawn curry.

The only Saving grace was Chicken Poda & Mushroom Poda hence 1 rating.

I felt so embarrassed to have taken my non-oriya colleagues for a lunch there because Oriya food is never so pathetic.

It is an overpriced and terrible restaurant. I will never ever recommend anyone to try Oriya food there especially for someone who is having oriya food for the first time.

Ambience: It is quite decent, nothing so special. Yes, it is clean and spacious.

Food: Bengali / Oriya authentic, food is good. I have tried Fish thali and Mutton thali which was good. Also try Aloo-Karela fried chips (I'm not sure about the exact name) , it was worth trying. And Chena Poda for desert

Service: As for thali, you don't have to wait long, it was served right on time.

I was waiting for a long time to give this restaurant a review. Finally, I visited this restaurant for the second time today and here is my review.☺️

I actually want to give a 3.7 overall rating but there's no such option here..so.settling with 4 😎

Food is homely.. Dalma is a chain of restaurants and has won many awards in Odisha. The first time I came here, had ordered bamboo mutton, paratha, rice, Dalma and kheer. Bamboo mutton is actually a long cooking process and takes many hours to complete. Please don't think that they also cook mutton in bamboo. To just give you the bamboo flavor they will cook the mutton inside it for some time.. but it's tasty. Kheer is the traditional Odiya kheer with small grain rice. Very yummy. Dalma is a dish where dal is cooked with vegetables. It was good tastewise but vegetables were very less.

On my second visit, my friend and I ordered mati handi Mutton, chingudi tarakari, chakuli, and Chenna poda.. chakuli is 99% similar to dosa. Have it with a mutton dish and it will be a delight to your taste buds.. 😋 they do not fry prawns so in prawns curry some might not like the hint of raw prawn smell. I love prawns so that's not a problem for me. Price wise quantity of every item is 80% justified. 😄

Do visit with your friends and loved ones and enjoy the relishes of Odiya cuisine..please keep your taste buds open!🤗😉🤤

Had been to this restaurant for lunch. The decor is average. But worth going for their food. Although the quantity is less. The mutton gravy with ghee rice is must try.

Being an Odia, its always a pleasure to visit Dalma, which serves authentic Odia Cuisine.
Being a Vegetarian its always a pain to get good food in a restaurant but my cravings for a homely vegetarian meal is satiated whenever i visit Dalma.
The Thalis are awesome, the starters are awesome, the desserts are the best you can have at any place.
2 complaints -
1. Some items are not available at all times i visited.
2. There is no fingerbowl provided.

However the memories of Odisha and the wonderful food are best brought out whenever i visit this place.

Very average place with very limited oria menu. Tried chicken poda : it was good and was first experience. Rest roti and prawn Dalma was low in taste and in terms of spiece. Oria famous cheena poda was as usual awesome and was best meal of the day.

Hi, I visited this Koramangala Dalma on last sunday with wife. We know the taste of Dalma's every menue and hence we selected that place for sunday's dinner. But it was totally disappointing. The main thing worried is their service. Their service is totally horrible. They don't have single minute to listen customers. We order fish besara , Matihandi chicken, Rice and dalma. They served me fish besara, mati handi mutton (instead of chicken) and rice. Forgot to serve dalma. when I asked dalam, he told its getting ready. I don't know how it was getting ready. finally without dalma, we managed to complete our dinner though it was difficult. And now its turn of making payment. The gentleman charged Rs75/- for dalma as well in the bill. When I asked why? the Reply was as I ordered it, they have to charge. After a long fight/argument they cancelled dalma from the bill and revised it. It was totally disappointing . they really don't even meet 1% standard from customer service point of view. Food was tastey, but the entire process made me really unhappy. Will never visit to DALMA for sure.

Good food, tastes homely, only problem is their menu which has only Odia names. They could add the English translations so that others could also understand what the items are. Loved the chena poda dessert. It's milk based and tastes something like creme Brulee.

Food was awesome. We ordered kukuda mansha Kassa and mati kadai Paneer tarkari. We ordered chhena poda for dessert. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The decor could be better. And the menu was in Odia, i mean odia written in English form. That keeps the authenticity alive.

The spices talk on behalf of this 'Odiya' restaurant. This place give you an average restaurant feel as soon as you enter, it gives you a positive vibe, maybe its the colours of the walls or the aroma of the food that comes out of the kitchen. They have a menu card which has Odiya in the back and English in the front, never came across something like this, The ambience is good, the only negative thing that i found was that the ACs dont work even if they are on, plus the body is stuck with tape! But you'll forget about all this once the food comes on your table. The rates are pretty pocket friendly and the staff are friendly and cooperative.
We ordered for Jeera Bhata, Sadha Palau, Mati Handi Paneer Tarkari. The jeera bhata or the jeera rice was good, with the right amount of jeera and ghee with curry leaves and cooked properly. Th Sadha Palau or the pulav was great as well, cooked perfectly and so were the vegetables. Talking about the Mati Handi Paneer Tarkari, the paneer was soft and delightfull, the dish was full of flavours that would bring a smile on your face the first time that take a bite of that paneer. However, one thing that confused us was that, the name of the dish is "'Mati' Handi Paneer Tarkari, the server brought the dish in a mati or a matka, but then he emptied it into a bowl kept on the table; why did he even bring it in a matka when he had to transfer the dish into the bowl? The food, the service and the experience was delightful, i would like to come here again to try the non-veg dishes. I would recommend this place to anyone who is not very familiar with the Odiya dishes, for a change this is a good place to come and taste. I'm sure you won't go back frowning. I would like to give the
Food - 4/5
Ambience - 3/5
Service - 3.5/5

Fantastic place to try some authentic oriya good. Their food was just amazing. Specially the Pohala Maccha (fish in oriya). Really liked their Dalma which is Dal with vegetables into it. Trust me it was really tasty. As I am from Kolkata I found their cuisine to be very similar to Bengali Cuisine. Also if you ever plan to go there do try their sweet called Chena Poda it's really worth trying. Their price is also very pocket friendly and you can try their thali which starts from just rs 100. I highly recommend this place. Do visit and if possible share your experience in the comment section.....😊😊

Went to grab lunch here. The ambience is neat and homely! We ordered the fish curry which was made with mustard paste and tasted good. Then mutton curry which came with 4 pieces and the gravy was tasty. Sweet pulav was nicely made. The best thing for me was their buttermilk which was really good.
The quantity of food is slightly less but for the price they are offering, it's not a bad deal.

It was just the day when i craved for some odia food. Since dalma was officially the odia cuisine chain we finally landed here. Ambience is plain and simple, which it should be. Menu card was both inEnglish and oriya which i loved to read after years. So after a lot of thought we order for the first round rice, mansa tarkari, dahi baigana, chingudi tarkari and aloo kalara fry. All items were yummy, had quite a reminiscence taking in the smell and taste of homemade food. No doubt it was good. Service was good. Now for round two again we ordered rice along with chinguri taraki amd now it was time for kukuda mansa tarkari. Although the chicken was good, prawns were not tasty when compared to the first time we had. And to finish it off what better way than to have chenapodo. Perfect meal. Would definitely visit again eyes closed. Thank you for bringing odia food to bangalore☺️.

This outlet is the improvised version of its predecessor (located on intermediate ring road) in many aspects . Better location ( yes indeed , right in front of famous Anand Sweets of Koromangala ), a clean kitchen ( what it looks from outside as it's partly open) , better hygiene ( way better I would say) , service quality improvised ( no laid back attitude) and wait time considerable ( on rush days they almost trying their best, usual days are not all discounting) ,availability ( not 100 % always ) and pricing is very reasonable .

Coming to food, it's absolutely bang on .Take you straight back to the homely Oriya food we couldn't give justice of our own. For vegetarians, veg thali is the best bet( rarely available) alongside Chenna Trakari, Alu Phulkobhi and Chattu (Mushroom) Bhaja will satisfy your taste bud. But an Oriya guy is always a die hard meat lover and their comes Mutton and Chicken Kassa which are always cooked to perfection. Pohola macha ( fish) with mustard gravy a go to dish . Patra Poda Chicken ( Leave burned Chicken) was perfectly marinated and then fired into the banana leave . The rustic feel it leaves on chicken was absolutely incredible. Finally the Prawn Masala, which always taste the same.
If you are really not sure of Ala Carte , go for their thali's for first time . It's quite filling and reasonable too. You would have option to take either roti ( quite homely) or rice, with dalma , salad and required gravy.

But seriously their signature dish "DALMA" is not up to the mark . They keep it more watery due to which the consistency is compromised. Improvised version is expected.

Kheere, chennapoda are the desserts you would like to wrap up with alternates are though just workable.

In weekends be ready to wait for at least 30 mins between 1-3 PM though they don't have enough waiting space and I have seen people returning disappointed, but they can't help much to this concern.

Was super excited to visit Dalma after 3 years. But was disappointed to discover the fact that, dalma has lost its taste and reputation. Honesty, I would look for consistency in taste and customer service if I am revisiting a particular place. Dalma had improved its customer service. A warm greeting with smile. But food was disappointing.

We ordered a mutton thali with rice and chicken thali with roti, lassi , gulabjamun and rasgulla.

Mutton thali- Consisted of mutton curry, rice, a pinch of salad and a small bowl of dalma.
I belong and had lived in rice eating states. So for me the quality of rice grains are very important for a satisfing meal. The rice which they served wasn't fresh, it was sticky and dull. And of course it wasn't warm at all. The rice grains were extremely small and crushed.

Coming to mutton curry. We wwre served with onky 3 pieces of mutton and one potato. The gravy had a rawness of ginger and garlic. Though the mutton was tender. The curry was terrible. A thali costs 250 and it was a waste. The whole meal didn't have any salt in it. Neither in mutton curry nor in dalma.

Chicken thali- rotis , chicken curry, a pinch of salad and dalma.
Though quantity of chicken was less , the taste was very good. Again there was no salt.
Rotis were big and well prepared.

The rasgulla and gulabjamoon were too good and lassi was excellent.

Because the thali was 250 rupees each, I would give a 1.5 to the food quality.

Please who are visiting dalma after a gap, please be careful.

I have come to this place many times in last 3 years. It is hard to find an Odia restaurant in Bangalore, and undoubtedly Dalma is the best one offering Odia cuisine. It is present right in the heart of Koramanagala. One of the best thing in the menu is the "Veg thali" in which you will find most of the items of a typical Odia lunch. However, if you hate potatoes, you will definitely hate the veg thali because most of the items in the thali are potato-rich. Although I am a hardcore non-vegetarian, I enjoy the veg thali at Dalma for a change. I bet, you will not get a decent and healthy thali with Rs 100 in Bangalore. Now there is a twist; you will also find the "Dalma special veg thali" in the menu ! Now this is where you may get disappointed as "special veg thali = regular thali + a nano Papad + poorly prepared Stony-hard Paneer" ! So clearly there is nothing "special" about the "Veg special thali" ! The non-veg options are decent except the prawn items, cost of which is disproportionately higher from the quantity point of view. I really enjoy the mutton kosha here in Dalma. However you must realise that the quality of the non-veg items are waxing-and-waning in nature at this place ! One day, the mutton tastes awesome here, and on the next day you may miss the "wow" factor ! One thing in which they excel is the 'Pakhal" thalis. As Odias, we have "Pakhal" in our DNAs; so anyone who offers delicious "Pakhal" would be a darling to us and I am sure that Dalma will not disappoint you from the "pakhal" point of view ! If I have to name a "must eat" item from the menu, I would name "Chhenapoda" ! Although the quality is not as excellent as you would find in Odisha, still the chhenapoda here is good enough to keep you salivating ! Unfortunately, if you remove the chhenapoda, rest of the dessert appears bit deserted !

Service of the staffs is good. However, on Sundays they all look bit clueless and confused because of the increase in number of customers ! This place needs to improve the ambience to a great extent. Most of the time their ACs do not work and I have not seen any attempt by the management to improve the ambience in last 3 years !

Overall: 3.5/5Veg: 3/5 (Special veg thali 0.5/5), Non-veg: 4/5, dessert: 2.5/5, Service: 3/5, Value for money: 4/5, Ambience: 2.5/5

Descent Odia restaurant in The city. If you want to try Odia dishes you can try here.

Recommendation : Chenna(Paneer)Curry, Veg thali.
Ambience : Average.
Service : Slow
Taste : Good

Nothing so great in dishes. I had visited place long ago and I liked that time (Non-veg thali) and went back again few weeks back and this time it was pathetic. Whole place was stinking and the service guys were arrogant, tomato soup was horrible never tasted such worst soup in my life and when we did not eat the guy who served said "peena nahin hain toh, pehle bata dete nahin chahiye" :( . Even meals was so bland no taste at all (not sure thats how Odia cuisine taste like i am sure it may not be)

Have been here for quite a few times now. A place that truly satisfies your tastebuds. Must try is the mutton cooked in the bamboo sticks. Mutton thali is extremely delicious. The Thalis have great mix of dishes. Don't leave this place without tasting the Chena pods and the Rosogolla.
In short if you crave for the home cooked mutton curry, this is the place to eat at.

It was good day with my friend when I was search a good restaurant for lunch . Finally found our odia dish hotel . Place was nice and clean . Order veg thali with handi chicken. Test almost good . Compare cost was high but good . ::)

I have not tried Odia food before, So went there for a lunch. being a vegetarian ordered a 'Veg Thali' with the idea of getting to taste multiple variety!
Food is fine, but one peculiar thing is each dish here (except raitha, sweet and one green bhaaji) has POTATO in them! Quite disappointing.
The Raitha is full masala tadka and the sweet is good but salty!!
Average experience!

Service is Very Bad.If you call for a delivery they will tell minimum delivery 300/500/1000 on their mood.Very Pathetic Service. They should care about the regular customers.

Been many times n certainly love the cuisine as a odia. But mostly some or other thing will be unavailable.
Dalma quality is so poor that a non-odia will never ever want to try it again.
The service and cleanliness can be better.
Love the bamboo mutton.
The best part food do have the authenticity of Odisha.

The service is the worst you can get. The quality of food is okie. But it is definitely not worth the wait. Imagine waiting for 2 hrs for lunch and the staff avoiding you questioning the service. There were a lot of customers who left after waiting for 1 hr. And I will bet they must have finished their lunch and started napping by the time we started our's. Wouldn't recommend anyone to visit this restaurant. I have had a lot tastier Odiya food than here.

The taste of Orissa. If you are missing homemade oriya food in Bangalore then it's definitely a good option. We ordered Veg thali (contains rice, dalma, bhaja, saga, alu bharta, tomato khatta, salad, kheeri ) and mutton kasa and rohi macha bhaja. The taste was nice.Staffs were courteous and service was quick with Akshaya Mohanty songs being played at the background ..:)
Must try: chena poda, gulab jamun, mutton tarkari and macha bhaja

I wanted to give 4.5 but becoz of service n mutton tarkari this place deserves 3.5.... service was pathetic.. after 40 mins they served... we ordered bhata, chena tarkari, kalara bhaja, mutton tarkari, fish tarkari, prawn tarkari, liver fry... food was yummm! It was really really good... its a must try place

Been here a couple of times. Hard to find an Odia restaurant in Bangalore. They have a good number of Odiya dishes in their menu. Some of the dishes are pretty authentic. Tried the 'maati handi mutton' - pretty good. Try the set meals also - pocket friendly yet good. Tried their 'dahi maccha' - well prepared. Lassi was so so.. Basic ambience.
Swati Nandy
I had gone here to try their Oriya cuisine. Well the menu has authentic Oriya dishes but the taste is not similar. I left with a not too satisfied taste considering that the price is also slightly on the upper side.
Sunita Pattanayak
Good oriya cuisine that can be enjoyed in the city. Service is also good. Its exactly the food that anyone from Orissa wants to make up for the missing "ghar ka khana". Not very sure if other states people will enjoy it much but my team mates from different states do enjoy the preparation specially the fish.

We (my roommate and I) decided to have Odiya cuisine yesterday and so we went to Dalma. We had to wait 1 hour before we got a table. Waiters were not responding. By the time a waiter came, almost everything was over there. Whatever we ordered was not there. We went there specially to have dalma and it was not there. Then we ordered Rice (saada bhata), Dal (dali), Chhena Tarkari, Masala Cold drink and Chhena Poda. It took them more than 45 mins to bring this order that too after reminding them 4-5 times. In this restaurant, if you are Odiya speaking you will be given preference (that's what I noticed). One couple were calling the waiters from the past 15 mins and no one answered them. Sadly, they left the place. Full chaos and no management. Waiters shouting at cooks. Customers going and standing at the cook's counter and asking them to prepare their order first!!!!

This was my last visit to this restaurant. Never going to recommend this place to anyone.

Went there today to pack few dishes..

Dalma > quantity too low.. taste is just OK..
Saga > Saga muga was not there so they gave only saga.. i have never seen onion in saga till today... below average taste..
Tomato Khajuri khata > just average.. no khajur (dates were inside)

and special item Crab Kasha.. > Though in menu its 175 INR but they demanded 350 INR for the king crab... did not complain.. size is good.. but taste nothing special..

My overall rating 3..

Being a Odia I was missing Odisha cuisine in Benguluru. Then I heard about Dalma at Kormangala Benguluru. Everyone knows that it's a well known chain in Odisha. So I thought let me try it out on Mahasthami day . Ordered their mutton thali . It's typical Odia preparation with potatoes. Gravy was good but mutton quality was not up to mark . Mutton thali comes with aloo chakta ( mashed potatoes with spices ) , dalma and salad. Dalma was a dampener. Below par . Ambience was good with Akshay Mohanty's hit Odia songs in the background. Overall it was good but not comparable with the the taste we get at their joints at Odisha.

I had tried first time odiya restaurant.. this seems good place for both veg and non veg. Thali option is also good ... Great food and great restaurant..

Dalma is a Odia cuisine eatery which I wanted to try for a long time. The fish thali tasted really good. The Rohu fish was really tender and well prepared. The Chicken Kasha was another dish which impressed me. The Chenapoda is a must in this restaurant as it was the best of the lot.

Being a citizen of Odisha I was happy to find Odia cuisine in Karnataka.
Food was good, felt like eating at home. My favorite bamboo mutton roast and leaf chicken roast with chattu rai was really great.

I loved it.

Though i am not an Odia, but i love to dine different cuisine. This was my first visit to any Odia restaurant.
First thing i noticed - ambience and i liked it. Photo frames of legendary personalities of Odia Culture-get to know from my odia friend.
Food was good and really liked it. Staff was so humble. Odia people surely visit this place but i would like to suggest others also to give it a try.

If you are an odia, even if you are not! you should definitely not miss out on this restaurant. The food they serve will make you nostalgic as the aroma and smell will take you back to odisha. The mushroom, the potala alu kasha, the handi chicken, dalma are worthy of your taste buds surely!

A long time back promise of taking my odia friend here was finally done. Went to this place on Monday afternoon during office break time. Located at the very prime location as you take right for 6th block, it is a very rare chance that people may miss this place.

There is nothing special about the ambiance. Just a small place though neat with adjoining open kitchen. Staff were courteous and immediately came for the order.

We ordered for plain rice with dahi baingan, rohu fish curry and my favourite mati handi mansha (mutton prepared in earthen pot). Service was fast as all these were served in next 15 minutes.

Dahi baingan was pretty much average and felt the quantity of rice wasn't sufficient ( guess that may differ from person to person). Rohu curry was nice. The fish was fresh and properly fried before put into gravy which was somewhat watery. What I liked was the aloo in it,, made my day!!

Mati handi mansha was bliss to my palette!! Again aloo in it!! It was cooked so well with whiff of garam masala coming on every bite. Pretty awesome!!

Dessert is definitely a requirement so ordered for chena poda which tasted as if prepared a day before as lacked that freshness. But overall a nice meal and final amount came to be 600 so definitely economical. Surely a place to visit.

Looking for authentic odiya food then it is good place to hangout wid friends or family for the same. We tried aaloo kerala fry & mushroom masala in veg which was okay . The best part of this place is its non-veg food . We tried bamboo mutton, prawn masala, lever fry .Among these , prawn masala is awesome . Must try chenna poda "odiya special" in desert. The staffs are nice but the service is bit slow.
Hey folks..the first visit of dalma was really remarkable. The pomfret and janhi rai was amazing.tried dahi pakhal for the first time and enjoyed it.dahi baigan was not that great.and the best dish was dalma.that was smashing.the food made me determined to return to this place again.
The next visit was for a treat and had a completely opposite experience then.more than half of the dishes in the menu were not available.this time we ordered for chicken kassa and prawn kassa and it was a disaster.even the dalma was disappointing.mutton thali wasn't that great.only the aloo karela fry was something worth having. had a very shocking experience the second time and completely changed the perception for the place.

Even the servicing was not up to the mark. Communication amongst the waiters and cooks wasnt proper.
Ankita Mohanty
This is a disaster these days. Sad service. They make gravy too watery and salt less. So we got sweets too,to give them another chance at the only job they want to make money out of- that was disappointing as well. I am Odia. I want decent odiya food to remember my roots. And this place was my only hope in bglr and that has drowned too. People not from Odisha, trust me our food is tastier, spicier and yummy, unlike bland shit food served in Dalma bglr.

Huge disappointment.....came with expectation to have our own odiya food...but worst service ever I had...staff poorly organised...pricing random...waitng was 30 mint(standing) and thn 1 hr after placing order for food...staff not at all responsive..seems they lack staff.

This place started as an oriya restaurant, but now a days I can find Malayalais, Bengalis and even kannadigas storming into it on weekends. As far as I am concerned, I usually visit the place on every alternate weekend. Oriya food is amazing, mutton curry, handi mutton(mutton cooked in a pot), Chhena poda (oriya sweet dish, caramelized cottage sweet), Kheer, And yes Dalma (not dal but Dalma). Veg thaali also consists of many dishes like aloo chokha, Badi churra , Karela/Bhindi fry. Food is cheap and costs 700-800 for 2 persons (including soft drinks). Ambience is average.

PS: Dalma in Bangalore & Kolkata are pretty much different than the Dalma in Bhubaneswar. They are far far better.

Food: 4.5/5
Ambience: 3.5/5
Staff :3.5/5

Ah good old authentic Odia food! Makes me nostalgic to no end…

Being an Odia and craving home food is not new to Bangalorean Odias. And there are so few options that we are left longing for more since a long time.

Dalma is one of the pioneers in this case and a really safe and good option.

Whenever I long for some home food, I end up coming here.

Apart from the really good food, another big plus point is its cost effectiveness. When you get Fish Thali for Rs.150 and Chicken Thali for Rs.200, I don’t see any reasons not to swoop in here!

Apart from the thalis, which have the usual Odia fare – white rice, dalma, bhaja (shallow fried veggies), there are a lot of authentic Odia items to try out including badi chura, dahi pakhala, dahi baigana etc.

My rating could seem partial….because it is! ;)

Please do visit the place at least once. It is worth more than one shot for sure. 

N.B. Do NOT miss having Chhena Poda before you leave here..

With hardly any option for Odia cuisine in the vicinity, this place gets crowded most of the time, specifically during the weekends.

Went there recently on a Sunday for lunch and the place was jam packed. Had to wait for 15 mins to get a table.

We ordered Veg Thali which had many typical preparations from Odisha. While the quantity was good, wasn't so happy with the quality. The taste was pretty normal. It made me feel that this chain of restaurant (which has its presence in Odisha) has lost it's charm over a period of time.

The fish curry that we ordered (Pohala Fish curry) was great and I would probably visit there again to try this and few other al-a-carte items.

The staff were polite and attentive.

I like this chain of restaurant. Famous for its oriya cuisine. Do order the special veg thali and try out the deserts it is good. ..not too spicy just like ghar ka khana.

dalma is like home, i come here often . i come here when i want a simple ghar wali daal, or when i want bamboo mutton.... or when i want a simple thali consisting everything that i love.
taste is a 4.5 always. i adore chenna poda here, the garam garam baingan bharta, the simple phulka.. evrything!! :)

Go at your own risk.It was good once upon a time but not now.We ordered Dalma, rice, mutton curry and mushroom curry with rice. The Dalma was really worst and they have added hot water to compensate some leftover.Mutton curry was not good at all.Even though we complained after getting the order there was no action taken by the employees. They were just looking at each other like fools.
I sincerely encourage all to refrain yourself to go there.

Much hyped place. Paucity of good odiya restaurant in the vicinity makes this place slightly crowded in the peak hours.
Cost is slightly on a higher side considering the quantum of food.
However the chicken gravy is delicious.
Go if you are dying for odiya food.
Cupcakesontravel
A place for typical odiya food. Dalma is a dish in oddisa, which is Dal and sabji in one preparation. I tried that here, and I feel my odiya friends cook this better at their homes. Thalis were also nothing great. The only thing I sort of liked here was the sweet- pora pitha, a typical speciality. Rest everything was very average.

This was my second visit . I previously visited the one near Sony signal . That was one great experience . Today's was a dull one . There was one other couple . We ordered Mutton thali which was very blunt . Mutton curry was diluted . Only positive wAs the mutton was well cooked . Disappointed .

Dalma serves authentic home style Odia food. Went for lunch and ordered the mutton Thali, was not disappointed. It comes with a delicious mutton curry which isn't overly spiced , aloo bharta, dalma and salad. The dalma could have been a bit better, with more vegetables. However, the taste is quite authentic and homely. You don't feel heavy as the dishes aren't greasy. Also ordered chenna podo, taste was good but not burnt enough compared to the stuff I have had in Odisha. This is a must try for those looking to explore Odia home style food. Would definitely return to try more dishes

One of my favourite place, as it's a complete odiya cuisine, I love all the dishes they prepare, it reminds me my mom's home made food. Must try machha besara, Mati handi mutton n chicken and bamboo chicken

Yes, we Odias eat less spicy and low salt foods and that's the signature taste of real authentic Odia food. Food is delicious.Great hospitality by the waiters.
Recommend - Veg Thali + Some side orders

The only Odiya food chain I have ever came across...the food quality can be better but regarding the ambience I would say..why can't you guys repair the AC(none of them works) i bought some Bengali colleagues here with so much enthusiasm,However the ambience was a big fail and also the food quality can be improved. You should provide the best odiya food.

Well my colleagues said they would never come to dalma as according to them other Bengali restaurants provides cheap and better food. Cmon Dalma don't let the odiya cuisine fade.

Service and Food is awesome here. Typical Odiya food with old Odiya songs what more do u expect from a restaurant which boasts itself for its odiya touch and lives up to the expectations.

It's a awesome place to have Odiya food, as well as having a chit chat with friends.
One must try special fish curry.
It's Kheer and Chhenapodo are the best in sweets items.

Wanted to visit the place from a very long time and finally got the chance to eat.The place is cozy, quiet as not filled with a lot of customers and has an awesome window side table view. The food tastes authentic Oriya no doubt and the the menu does not burn a hole in your pocket. My only complaint is that the services could be improved and the menu could be expanded... Those who still thinking to go, make sure you visit it once at least, you won't be disappointed. Be sure to try the chhena poda( it's a desert).

Had my first meal at Dalma and I couldn't resist writing a review right away! I LOVED the place... simple homely food made and served with love and respect. Since it was my first visit and I'm not from Odisha, I was a little skeptical and doubtful about what to order. The semi-dry alu bhujia/bhaja with rotis seemed to be a safe bet, so I decided to order that. The waiter probably read the confusion on my face and politely suggested me to rather go for the veg thali that would anyways have the alu bhaja and rotis, alongside some other dishes too. I agreed, and it turned out to be a very pleasant and satisfying decision! The veg thali had one serving each of Dalma(which is a mix veg daal), alu bhujia(soft fried alu with masala and onions etc), fried saag, alu-jhinge(ridge gourd) sabzi, alu chokha(mashed potato with spices), cucumber salad, kheer and tangy raw mango chutney. This was served with amazingly soft and hot rotis (fulkas). Since I had asked for rotis earlier, he thought I'll prefer to have rotis instead of rice. So they compensated the rice with rotis. I had planned to have the Dalma with rice, so was was waiting for the rice, when the serving guy told me rice won't be served. When the waiter who took my order got to know this, he agreed to serve me some more rice to taste with the dalma. It was really moved by this humble and polite gesture and my respect for the place went up manifold! I got up from the table satisfied, happy and smiling. Don't remember when was the last time an eatery made me feel this way. The food was really good, simple, tasty and light. And all of this for a surprising 100 rupees! Dalma proved it today that having a full service restaurant at an upscale location does not necessarily be coupled with arrogant behaviour or steep prices! My special regards for the management for such high standards of service and down to earth approach and also for retaining such efficient and friendly staff! Anybody willing to try out a different cuisine, or looking for simple food in a good environment should not miss coming here. Cheers!

I visit this place when ever my cook takes an off...
I knew what to order as I went there with some Oriya friends. The food is simple and tasty. The kitchen is visible from the seating area and you can be assured by the hygiene standards. The aloo Bhajja is something to order with phulkas if you are looking for a homely light meal. Their vegetarian dishes are very tasty as well , but just ask the staff to explain the dishes before you order if you are not familiar with Oriya cuisine.
The staff are friendly and this place a must visit if you appreciate tasty food.

The most authentic Odia food one could ever taste in the city, as the name suggests. Located in a prime location of the city, it calls for amazing time spent with family. The staff should be more trained to handle the orders on crowded days though. Also the price of items is more or less reasonable considering the vicinity of the place to most of the finest restaurants.

Have been a frequent visitor for the last 3 months. Even though the food was good and ranges till ok. But our last visit and today were the most pathetic ones. The chenna tarkari was spoiled and the mudi ghonto was smelly as if you wud get food poison today. Will advice everyone not to visit dalma on weekdays as you may get spoiled and smelly food if you luck is bad. Even after informing about the same to the dumb hotel staff and waiter, there was no resolution. Feeling unsatisfied. Perhaps the last one!!!

Earning a bad name for odia with pathetic service. The food is great no doubt. But they are just not able to handle the crowd. They have 6-7 people (which is a good number) to serve about 40 people. They are not organized. I have been frequenting Dalma for the last 6 years. It used to be my daily lunch place. Last Sunday I was disappointed with their service. I was made to wait for 40 mins for a thali. On enquiring I was told that there is no one to prepare the thali. There was utter confusion. They need a good manager. Me and my friend left after waiting for 40 minutes without having food.

The interiors and ambiance is average. You go and eat that is all. The food there seems to make up for the lack in decor though! The chicken was good and Dalma the Oriya special item was also a pleasant dish. Oriya meal is definitely a bit different as my friends tried out the thali and found it good. I too tasted a little from their plates whereas I ordered the regular dishes I eat. I would recommend going to this place solely because the cuisine is very subtle and pleasant.

Well I took my odishi friend to this place, as I had heard a lot about the odishi cuisine from him. The place is located in 6th block koramangala among the plethora of restaurants on that street. The ambiance of this place is nothing to boast about. The place is small and it can accommodate around 30 people at a time. I was little disappointed with the service as I had to ask for a glass of water several times before getting one although the though food was served within time. I suggest going to this place with an odiya friend otherwise you may have tough time deciding what to order. We ordered Chilli chicken, teh very famous dalma, chicken kassa and pakhala. The food was good and was something new for my taste buds. The desserts were equally good too - rasgulla and Chenna pada. And the best part is that the place does not burn a hole in your pocket.

Certainly a must visit place for every Foodie.
Food - 3.5/5

Ambiance - 2/5
Price - 4/5

Being an odia wanted to try some authentic odia food so ordered from Dalma. Got really frustrated by the food. Dalma was ok not good. Went to this place for lunch, Ambiance was okay, Quite crowded & AC wasn't working, so it was lil hot...Wanted to taste every other thing in the menu, therefore ordered one veg thali and one mutton thali and an addon- aloo karela chips because that's my favourite thing (glad it turned out good !)
Food was average, not the authentic one but pretty close.
Price is reasonable, Try it once if u r missing home made Odia food.

This place happen to be a famous odia cuisine restaurant. Two of my friends took us to dalma for us to taste authentic odia food. Anbience was quite ordinary. We ordered almost everything mentioned in the menu. Special veg thali, dahi bengan, chenna poda, pakhala etc etc. I loved them all :D . I ate some of the dishes I had never heard of. Our tummy was super full and satisfied at the end of the meal :D

Certainly a must try place for every foodie -oriya or not ;)

If you want Oriya cuisine in Bangalore then trust me you are checking the right restaurant. Being away from Odisha for almost 1 year now, I suddenly had that urge to taste some home food. And what better option that going to this place. Must try is Pakhala Thali and Chicken kassa. Was slightly disappointed with Baunsa Poda mutton.

Good food.. Typical odia food.. But felt a touch expensive.. Also the kitchen is next to the restaurant sitting area and semi open.. So sometimes feels awkward... But taste wise really nice place to have odia food.. Must try mutton kassa and bamboo mutton.. For veg ppl must try chenna tarkari

What could satisfy both your taste buds and your unending quest for what to have for lunch on a weekend, it's your home food. Now that we are in bangalore that's not possible, but they get quite close in recreating the odia cuisine for you.
I had pakhala and my friend had special veg thali.
Filling both to stomach and heart.
Ambience :3/5
Value :4/5
Taste :3.5/5
If you are an odia, you have probably been here, if not don't wait enjoy odia cuisine.

Located on the third level in a building off a busy street in Koramangala, I was happy to see large lit signage to indicate I was in the right place. I visited Dalma after a friend recommended it and despite having no idea what Oriya food was, I thought I'd try something different. The restaurant has a pretty basic setup but is quite clean and when I arrived I was the only person there so had my pick of tables.

I'd done a bit of research on the menu before I went in and had been recommended fish and prawns but was still at a bit of a loss when it came to ordering. Luckily the very nice waiter helped me translate the items to English.
I ended up choosing the Macha Besara (small fish in mustard seed sauce) and Mancha Kassa (goat thick ribs) as well as a rooti (flatbread). I had considered one of the thali meals (includes curry, rice, salad and dalma) but since I didn't want rice or salad I chose otherwise.

My meal didn't take very long to arrive with the Mancha Kassa arriving first with the rooti and a few minutes later, the Macha Besara. Both were quite good sizes for me - there were several chunks of goat and not too fatty and the piece of fish was tender and with not too many bones. The gravy in both was delicious with good flavour without being too rich, although they were a bit salty for me. I liked the basic rooti and finished it quite quickly. I was recommended the Chakuli Pitha, another type of bread made from gram flour and rice flour so I got one. It arrived quickly and (for those who don't know) it's quite spongey and light but a little oily from being fried. Still very delicious and good with the curries. My nice waiter also brought me a little dish of the dalma to try, which is a type of dal with vegetables, which I very much enjoyed.

I thought the prices were quite reasonable and it was tasty, basic food. I couldn't finish it all but I wasn't very hungry to begin with. Very glad I tried and I've heard that the sweets are good there too! They also have daily specials written on a whiteboard and if I had any idea what they were, I might have considered them! I saw a few thali meals go past too and they look very filling and so good value.

The food is one of the most delicious and literally Finger Lickin Good. Must try are the bamboo Mutton and any fish. The parathas are the best tasting in the world.. Just like the way mom makes it :)
A must try for every foodie, Oriya or not. This restaurant deserves 5 stars and more!

It is a place for all the Oriyas.. reasonable Oriya cuisine.. though i didnt like the food much.. spclly the thali and the mutton curry.. the chhena poda was good and we tried another fish preparation which was also quite good.. but i was disappointed with the thali.. the quantity was good but quality not that great.. One time visit restaurant.

Dalma. I think description is not required for Dalma as everyone knows they are best in Bangalore fpr Oriya dishes. Mutton curry and chenapoda. No one can prepare like Dalma in bangalore. Great ambience and delicious authentic oriya food.

This food joint is for authentic Odia food. I have been to this place on several occasions over the years. No doubt food is authentic Odia and taste is of home made food. What I strongly feel is quality of food at this eatery is going down day by day. Here the price is reflection of the location and not quality of food they serve. If you try to have a slice of the famous sweet "chenna poda" to complete your meal that will be your worst nightmare, you may never return to this place again.

Sometimes I feel I am a little biased towards this place because it reminds me of my home. A nostalgic feeling whenever I visit the place. I love the courteous nature of the staff who are very gentle and friendly. It gives a homely feeling the way they attend to you.
Have been to this place many times. Love the food which is simple, tastes just right to the taste buds and pocket friendly.
This outlet is dedicated to one of the famous oriya singer Akhaya Mohanty so you would find his pictures occupying a decent portion of the pale cream coloured walls.
It has a open kitchen kind of view where you can peep in once a while.
I love the authentic oriya cuisines I get to taste here my favourite being mati handi mutton and lassi with those shredded coconut. Also love their thalis which are very filling and reasonably priced.
Overall a good experience :)
Food -4/ 5
Service -4/
Ambience - 3.5 / 5
Value for money - 4 / 5

Food is ok. Well located. Have authentic odia cuisine. But most of the items on menu are never available. Home delivery service is not good.

Typical Odia food with reasonable price. All Bangalorean, Must visit place to taste Odisha in Bangalore. Awesome Dining Environment with the legend Akshaya Mohanty[(Odia: ଅକ୍ଷୟ ମହାନ୍ତି, also known as "Khoka Bhai") was a singer, songwriter, writer and musician from Odisha, India.]

Very good odisha food, specifically the pokal bhat and the platter of veg items, We loved it...simple taste of odissa and should try the chena pora / pahal rasgulla...there is another place call OM sweet ( ask this resturent only ) where you will get lovely pahal sweets and authentic chena pora...Dalma's service is good and pocket friendly for a sunday simple lunch

Well my experience was completely different. We were 5 friends and we kept on ordering new dishes thinking next dish should be good, but alas it never happened. I have heard a lot about this place and definitely it has made its own place in Odisha but i dont think the Bangalore outlet has got the same charm and taste. Am still thinking to give one more chance to prove myself wrong.

Been there recently with friends for a casual dinner get together. Nice Odia food. The ambience is not great. But food is proper odia food. Almost every dish we tried was good.
Kukuda kassa was very similar to what we get in Odisha. Even the fish was properly prepared and was very tasty. Dalma and Chingudi dalma were also very nice.
But very less choices in menu and desserts.

After long time had odiya food ..... I must say the dishes were prepared with utmost care ..... Felt like m in odisha ..... Tried dalma special thali with dahi baigan .....it tasted real good....good job team

its Oriya restaurant, good place to have authentic food of orissa, when i went for lunch, they were not serving any breads, only meals were available. the taste of the food was good. service is good. reasonable prices.

Bin to dalma with my wife. Good place to have
Odiya miles.
I have ordered vegetables pakal thali, vegetables thali and chena poda.
All the dish are good . Special dahi baigan and karela was excellent.
Quick service but if staff communicate slowly it will be good.
If u are an Oriya in Bangalore and crave for authentic odia cuisine then dalma is ur stop over..The decor is simple but the food will definitely take u on a culinary journey to ur motherland...Do try thr chenna tarkari and chenna poda.I was disappointed when they did not have badi chuda one of the top cuisines of Odisha but overall the food was good although no where comparable to the food we get in Odisha back home
Mandar Kadam
Authentic odiya food, well I am not authenticity expert but I liked this place a lot. Being a non-banglorite and away from home, missing good home made food and especially sea food, this hotel was a great find for me.
The place serves 4 different thalis veg, prawn, fish and crab, I have tried all four :) I liked the taste...especially crab thali was awesome... even the sweet dish chena poda (I hope name is right) was great
My recommendation :
For veggies veg thali
And any sea food thali for sea food lovers...
Amrita Kumari Behera
Worst experience.....ordered mati handi mansa n mutton kassa expected those to be spicy but it was mild in taste....roti n aloo Gobi was better than those non veg curries ,its not at all like odisha's dalma in taste which I have visited n staffs are so lazy to serve every dishes so much of mismanagement not at all systematic, ambience was fine , overall it was very bad experience ,not at all visiting again here!!
Crazy4Food
Visited there with family. Being from Odisha I am a regular customer of their Bhubaneswar branch. Food was okay, not as expected. It was so pathetic when lift not working and you have to go 3rd floor. Food was too expensive and service was horrible. In hand wash area , one wash basin was blocked and smelling very bad. When I complained about it, I got a very casual response from the manager/cashier. After food only they said credit card machine not working.

I request to the management to please maintain the hygiene and don't spoil it's brand name.
--------------------------
26/95/2018
Reducing my rating from 3 to 1. These guys are just spoiling the name of Odia authentic cusine. Day by Day the standard going down but as Bangalore is full of Odia guys they are still running and doing business. So, I know this rating or any complaints will not impact them and also they are not bother of it as usual.
Yesterday I was there as someone came from Odisha and he forcefully taken me there.
We ordered 5 veg meals, where alu bharta was prepared with spolied patatoes. On my complaint they did not do anything, even they started saying it's fresh and now only prepared. Mango pickle (khata) made of boiled mango, sugar and red colour, which supposed to be prepared with jagery only and slow cooked.
Mutton handi and chicken curry - Again it's like normal mutton masala, not odia style. They put boiled potatoes in it, where normally it should deep fried. Same for chicken curry also, prepared with boiled chicken and patatoes. Where it should be slowly cooked like home style.

Prawn leaf burnt(patra poda) - which is too expensive . We were struggling to find prawns in that dish. The smallest prawns of world were there with 90% onions , and the quantity they provided is cost of Rs.10/- raw prawn and charge like we are eating tiger prawns.

I am not going to suggest anyone to go here for food. These guys are just spoiling there Bhubaneswar brand here.

It took us a while to figure this place out even though its situated on one of the busiest lanes of koramangala. We decided to check in here for the curiosity to try odia cuisine. Their menu looked simple and very homely. We decided to go with fish thali and roti curry as another. Very reasonably priced, thali is adequate for two. Dalma or dal is obviously their must try dish. You can have curries with mustard base, sweet and tangy as well. Overall it was a good experience with good food and service. Looks very frivoulous but their ac was not working which i think should be overlooked once you get good food.

I have been to this place countless times and almost always had good experience except couple of instances. They have a good ambience with a good number of tables. Service is always good.

Dalma thali is their best dish. Though my odia friends say it could not be compared to the authentic odia Dalma nonetheless for non-odia person like me it tasted good all the same. One more dish I liked like hell was this dried fish curry with rice. On the whole most of their non-veg items be it starters or the gravies they taste awesome.

I also liked their rasagollas and chena poda. Chena poda is one of the unique sweets you get here exclusively.

This is certainly a place one can visit to taste if not authentic close to odia cuisine as one can get in Bangalore.

I am a fan of Odia food ever since my frequent tours to the coastal state in early 90s and rue the fact that Hyderabad does not have any place serving the awesome food from here. I had heard of Dalma a lot from friends in Bangalore, so this time I made sure that I paid a visit there.

It is a nice clean and cheap place in Koramangala. Service is prompt. We were attended to immediately on reaching and the food did not take much time to arrive.

We had very little hesitation in ordering Maati Handi Mansha (Mutton cooked in a handi) as this is supposed to be a signature dish of this place. The order was Chinguri (Prawn) Kassa and steamed rice as accompaniment.

I was not very happy with the mutton dish. It had too much rich masala and was low on salt. Maybe my expectation of the dish was too high, but the taste was not something to go gaga over. The presentation in the handi was nice though.

The Chinguri Kassa made up for that. Medium sized prawns in a thick onion gravy (see photo) it would go well with both rice and roti. With rice and green chilli it was a nice combo.

There are other interesting stuff on the menu like Pakhala Bhat, Chena Pora and Bamboo Mutton. Noted for future visits.

For more on my food journeys read:

I have been to these place for mor than 20 times and my experience with the food is always good .non veg items are best .as an odia i have a personal connect with the food .matti handi mutton is awesome.chingudi curry is also good, apart from it chicken kassa and mutton kassa is tasty.for sweets i always prefer chena poda . It also gives good thali both for veg and non veg people. Veg people should try the dahi baigan .

To be honest, food is excellent with worst service. Waiters they do shout conversations, table is not clean, wash basin doesn't work. Will not go dalma anymore.

important note:-if u dnt want to read whole review then at least read warning below othrwise u ll be fooled. I am a pure odia and i went with so much expectations to have odia food. But it is too less than the expectation.simply you can compare the taste, service, as a normal hotel in odisha .
FOOD and PRICE :- Believe me.. Taste is same as a normal road side hotel in odisha (where price of a curry is not more than 40 rs. ).but price here is 4 times higher than those foods.
in starter we ordered small fish fry ,chicken pakoda , rohi fish fry. i was shocked that whether it is a restaurant or a road side pakoda shop.quantity also too less.
We ordered a chicken pakoda ,prawn curry, matti handi chicken , machha besar in main course. Taste was too normal .nothing great like odia taste.but price is too high. Also quantity is too less that u can eat a full matti handi chicken alone and after that also u ll feel hungry. all the cuury is just simple curry (no masala , no spicy , nothing ,even i can cook better then them :) ). they are putting potato more than chicken.

SERVICE:- service is very very poor . there are no service experts.i think they just brought some village guys from odisha who doesn't know anything.dont expect any service here.

AMBIENCE:- just ok. . they took a good space but inside is just like a normal hotel .

WARNINGS : :
1. Ask price before ordering anything (dishes which are not in menu). reason is we ordered chicken pakoda (5 pieces and that too normal chicken fry) and they billed it as 200 ! ! !
2.dnt try matti handi chicken or mutton .price is 230 but taste is just like 30 rs. u ll feel like fooled.
3.dnt expect any good service or good odia taste. (tatse is too general and believe me for this, price should not exceed more than 80 rs for any dish).
**** Don't take any of your non odia friends to this restaurant to have odia food. you will feel ashamed after eating. i did the same thing and they are feeling odia food is not tastey.

Adding this after multiple visit..since it is Odia hotel , so I visit even if food is not that good , but staffs are horrible ..they don't even clean table and makes you seat more than half an hour...service is really really bad..
Siddharth Panda
Authentic Oriya food, service was okay.
Go for tandoori pamfret if u love sea food.
Food was good with genuine odiya flavour.
Have been twice and liked it.

For someone missing Odia food, Dalma is the place to be. The food does remind you of the quintessential ghar-ka-khana if you're an Odia. The food is tasty and sumptuous. The meals do pack a punch from the variety P.O.V. Absolutely loved the Chhena Poda. The non-veg dishes could manage with a little less oil and the ambience can improve. Only complain - they don't play Akhyay Mohanty songs even though they dedicate their outlet to the legendary singer.

Was really happy to know abt d restaurant.. Went for lunch with my cousins.. V ordered veg thali: enuf for one person.. Alu karela chips were just awsome.. Though i cud nt hav d BADI CHURA for which i was most excited coz f non-availability.. M cutting .5 for dat.. Everythng ws cmpltly authentic n delicious.. Worthy f d price.. Also, I thnk day shud work a bit on der ambience..
Tip: Always order alu karela chips along with the thali.. It adds to the tasteful experience..
NOTE: many dishes like alu dam dahibara, badi chura are not avaialble most of the time.

I have visited dalma ... 3 times whenever in kormangla and longing for odia food ... I wud have given is .5 more but wht i felt is the service has detoriated ..it is very slow ..i suppose they have very less waiters now ..food is authentic odia food ..i have always gone for thallies ...veg special thalli and chicken thalli, fish thalli they are good ... But now that i have found good odia joints in marathahalli at a lesser price ,i dont vist it this place that often ...odia folks in kormangla can drop by ..and i wud say its average on pocket if you go for thallis ...

Really good odiya fish thali. Food was more home like with authentic dal and rohu fish curry. We were four of us and all were happy. We ended our meal with a dessert called chhena podu which was yummy as heaven.

Being an odia,my craving for homely food finally got a satiable solution at "Dalma". Needless to say their veg thali was a treat for a lover of odia food. It had the awesome combo of many veg dishes, payas(kheer),dahi baingan, tomato khata. Prawn curry was prepared in typical odia style an tasted awesome. Sweet dishes like chena poda was adequately sweet and was very much close to original taste. Rasogola was tasty too. Cheers!! Highly recommended if u r a lover of odia cuisine.

Finger licking good ! I am a Bengali and this is the closest I could get to home food. From the dalma to the mutton to the prawns and to the doi begun, everything was lip smacking good. Only bad thing is the portions are not great! But the food is amazing. I almost felt like I was eating at home. Sigh

This place does not live upto the expectations that someone has from an oriya restaurant. 'Pakhala' & many other dishes were unavailable. Service and Taste are poor. Ambience is OK. In short, it does not provide value for money!
Anurag Dey
This place would remind you of 'Ghar Ka Khana', tasty, simple yet elegant dishes though the cuisine is mostly Oriya, you can have a taste of all those dishes that generally you would just make at home. Though I feel ambience can be worked on. Service time is average.

I would consider Dalma as the most hygienic Odia cuisine restaurant in Bangalore.

I would rate
Taste: 9 out of 10
Ambience: 7 out of 10
Service: 8 out of 10

Mutton items are my personal choice in Dalma.
Highly Recommended for homely Odia food.
Nilanjan Chatterjee
Food used to be good around a year back. Our recent visit wasn't that great. Mutton dalma was what we ordered. The price and quantity is ok..for some it might be over priced. There was a time when dalma had their own share of loyal customers. Quality of food and service is failing.
Sunny K
My first shot at local odisha cuisine in bangalore and I did not even know what to expect. .. I really liked simplicity of the place and of course the food..it gives a very home cooked meal feel.... the kassa curry was wow.... am I going back.... oh yes. ..

New Dalma is a better Dalma! We had some Pakhala and Chingudi Checcha among other things and left satisfied.

However, I'd like to request the owner to keep the dishes as original as possible. The Baigana Bharata had so much masala in it. Almost tasted like a north Indian curry. Ugh!

I'd still come back though as this is as close as it gets to home food :)

One fine sunday afternoon and we decided its time for some native food. Best place we knew was the dalma. But as soon as we reached there i started repenting my decison of being there. No ac no fan no ventilation at all. Service was very poor as there were 14 tables and attended by only 2. While ordering traditional dish chena tarkari not available, ruti also N/A, chakuli pitha also a big n/a. A big let down to our hopes, finally ended up in ordering chattu(mushroom) rai and alu potal(parwal) rassa with plain rice and kanika(sweet rice) and the famous dalma.
On serving, being an Odia in a Odia resturant i expected the minimum Odia courtsey of salt chilly and lemon(lembu luna lanka) but there was none, a big disappointment.
I understand because of changes in water mineral content certains flavours of Odisha, cannot be replicated elsewhere, but the food was not even an inch near to our Odia cusine. The rai was totally off flavour and potal rassa was a total disaster and the dalma was more of a dal with patatoes rather the dalma we are accustomed to eat in Odisha.
A sincere request to the hotel management please improve ur quality or else close up the shop, this sort of food is just a shame to our beautiful cusine.
A big no to my Odia frinds who are planning to visit this place, and to other who want to venture into the beautiful cusine of Odisha, this is not the appropriate place to experiment it.

Honestly, i have never been able to give a number to this place in terms of rating... its intriguing what i feel about this place... Personally whenever my friends recommend(after they are thoroughly bored of "restaurant food") , i have never given an initial yes to the place....but surprisingly i have been humbly satisfied after every meal.
I dont compare dalma with wat it is back in odisha ..do that and u can never enjoy a meal .. :D :D i guess a lot f things change when u r catering to a new city so comparing isnt really fair.
The place is pretty simple. Clean, no fuss decor. What i like about it is, u have a view to the kitchen and everytime u see the hot round phulkas being made... it reminds u of home.

The servers are polite courteous and makes u comfortable.. Do ask them for recommendations( worked everytime for us -non veggies) ...
Recommendations are Bamboo Mutton and Mati Handi mansa. Please note that there are other good stuffs too,but im betting my life here with these :D :D :D

I like the alu-patal here. I dont like patal but once i tried ...and it was good..ended up gobbling the patal sooner than alu (alu is my fav vegetable..so yeah it came as a shock to me :D :D).. dahi baingan was thick..although the masala was a little bland but it was okayish...
I have had the thalis- chicken and mutton both and all seemed satisfactory.. nothing out of the ordinary, they serve u in steel plates like the ones at home, and plated very decently like mom would arrange it :)
The amount of rice may be less for many...

Also, if you are going to explore oriya dalma because of the restaturant name- u wud be surprised and dissapointed.. no it doesnt work like that :D :D :D this wont give u authentic dalma from odisha.

The lassi is very flavorful here.... Most of the side items papad, bharta and veg items are very reasonably priced .. The overall experience has always been a good value for money.

Will i come back again? Yes, like always. (for my friends this place is a biggg 4+) But probably when i m out looking for decent meal, or wen im done with many cuisines or bored of "outside food" or when mandi handi kassa haunts me in dreams :D :D :D

Here goes my rating,

Ambiance- 3/5
Food- 3.5/5
Service-4.5/5
VFM-4/5

Of yes, i once left my mobile there... i remembered just when i reached the ground floor...was just about to go up when i saw the server running the stairs so he could give my cell before im out f sight :) .. he could have just given to his manager but he chose to take the stairs and give it to me .. :)

One of the Saturday afternoon me and my friend went to this place for lunch. My friend was in a mood to have dishes like fish curry and brinjal with dahi if you know the dish I am talking about. The food was ok. we ordered chena poda in deserts which is a sweet from Orissa. It was not great either. Anyways if someone is really missing oriya food then they can visit this place otherwise I know of better places in koramangala where we can have a satisfactory meal.
Ayush Kumar
Taste was OK...Being the only Oriya restaurant in Bangalore you can pay a visit to fulfill your tastebuds with the Oriya cuisine....ordered a chicken thalli which was good and a bit less quantity wise ....the one thing which takes the place down is its management which is quite unresponsive ....they make you wait long...otherwise everything is manageable and nice!!!
Vibhor Panchnanda
I am drawn to regional cuisines, and the craving this time saw us ending up at Dalma. Oriya Cuisine is not something which I had indulged in however the name & a new menu appealed to me. Our items to taste included the regular meals including the Mutton Thali, Fish Thali along with something called Veg Pakhala Thali which essentially is cooked rice soaked in water overnight then indulged in with accompaniments which are crunchy & salty. Quite loved the fare, and will drop by may be once in two months.

Authentic Odiya food and a decent ambience. Non-Odiya people will have a bit of difficulty to choose from the menu. Service is great and food tastes just like home.
This is the place if you want to enjoy oriya food to the fullest. It has become a regular place for me when i carve for authentic oriya food. Mutton kassa is a must try . Even the bamboo mutton is good . Definitely worth the money . You have to wait 10-15 minutes if you are going on Sunday.
Ankesh Mishra
The place is a no frills outlet which focuses on bringing authentic Oriya cuisine to people. On a Sunday afternoon, there is significant crowd and one might have to wait for 10-15 minutes to get a table. The service is quick, unless you order something which is not core Oriya, like rotis. Rice is the norm here. Thalis are somewhat economic but the portions are small. The Mutton thali is a must try. The prawn curry was good, easy on the taste buds; not too loaded with spices.

Delicious food.proper odiya food.cramps, prawn, mutton all were so good.and at last d kheer nd kalajamun..fr odiya people out der in bglor i guess nothing cn b a better place dan dis

I went there along with my Oriya friend on Saturday night. But there wasn't more people and after having food we came to know why people were not there.
It is totally waste of time and money to head to this restaurant. Nothing was good in taste and even my Oriya friend was badly disappointed with the food. It may be good for those who have family and want to go for Oriya dinner but taste doesn't matter to them more.
Even street Oriya stalls serves better mutton kassa than them. Visit this on tour on risk.

After a long time i had rice and dalma and i loved.i went with my friends for having oriya food after a long time. When we ordered veg thali was over (around 9.30pm) and as a Beveridge vegetarian you will find a less choice. .i loved chenapod (cheese cake)here, still i can feel it.

I had visited their Bhubaneswar branch when I was in Odisha. The food served there is good but even there it seemed pricey for the taste and the portions. The place in Kormangala is an absolute disaster. The food is below average. They served some of the dishes which were cold making them even more tasteless. The portions are very small. The staff is absolutely unfriendly. When one enters the restaurant it seems shabby and dark. I had ordered chena poda for dessert as I thought even the worst of Odia restaurants couldn't go wrong when it comes to this dish. But I was sadly mistaken. In all a terrible experience. Another thing which jars is the display board of the restaurant which reads Odishan cuisine. I don't know what that means. Shall not recommend it to anybody.
Kotni Srikant
Dalma and Dalemma are separate chain of restaurants serving delicious oriya dishes.
You would only find oriya crowd over there including the hotel management.

I visited this place for the 1st tym but surprisingly this place was disappointing for me. I ordered prawn kassa and the order was ready in 5 mins so you can guess how the chef prepared and prices are very high if you compare the Orissa Dalemma Chain.

Good place in Bangalore to try out Odiya cuisine. It is light on pocket . Modest sitting arrangement, nothing fancy.
I would suggest the management to add description caption below each dish to help out Non-Odiya customers.

Must try is the Cheena Poda (A sweet dish,Ricota Chesse added with sugar and baked in over). They generally run out of this sweet dish within the first half of the day.Odiya food is high on non-veg food. This place is loved my most of my Bengali friends, who can relate to the style of Odiya cooking.

NON VEG must try- Mutton Kassa, Chicken KassaVEG- Cheena Tarkari (Cheese balls in gravy),Dahi Baigana(Eggplant in curd), Dalma (Vegetables cooked in lentil)Baigana Bharta (Smashed Eggplant with spices) , Nadia Pachedi (Grated coconut in Curd)

Full marks to the courteous staff. I had left my jacket there, I went back to collect it after a month. They had stored my jacket neatly wrapped in a polythene bag :)

Been here for 3 to 4 times.definitely good food.normally order a veg meal with mutton kassa. Mostly have tried even the smallest of joints serving oriya food.
Vishaal tops the chart followed by dalma.
Cheers

Dalmais the only authentic food chain restaurant of eastern India. It cannot be compared with any other chain restaurants. ...Moreover we can get some traditional sweet over there..

This was my visit to Dalma chain of restaurants the second time, the first one being way long back in 2006-2007 in Bhubaneshwar.

I was in Bangalore for personal reasons for 2 days and thought of giving Dalma a try. So, I started from my hotel in Marathalli by changing 2 buses and reached their Koramangala outlet.

The restaurant was located on the top of a building overlooking the busy street. It is a small yet decent place with very simple sitting arrangement. The wall had a couple of portraits of legendary Odia singer Akshay Mohanty. They were playing old odia movie instrumentals when I reached there and I found that to be nice.

The waiters were courteous and after going through the menu I decided to order some specific dishes. However, the prices of certain simple dishes were exorbitant, which you get at 1/3 rd of the price you pay in Bhubaneshwar at an A/C restaurant.

I had not eaten kalara chips, dahi baigan, kanika for quite a long time, mati handi mutton too never tasted before. So, ordered all these. They were served in 15 minutes or so. The aroma of mati handi mutton was so delicious and it went along well with the kanika. However, it was too dry with 4 pieces of nicely cooked mutton with a big piece of aloo. But the odia taste was pretty recognizable. I got another bowl of plain mutton gravy served with it. Kanika was average with a hint of ghee, cardamom powder, cashew and kismiss.

Another best tasting dish was the alu kalara chips, that was awesome. The Dahi baigan was pretty average and lacked the proper chat masala powder taste though the curd inside was thick. We generally prefer it to be lighter.

Now after tasting all of the above, I decided to try out the desserts and here I faced the disappointment. I ordered 1 rasagola and 1 kheeri. The rasagola is the same brownish one we get with a good quantity of suzi mixed with it and tasted authentic. The kheeri that was served was a payesh instead with a little khoya touch, no cashew, kismiss inside it. I complained then and there itself, so got the cashew kismiss toppings, but they were raw, that is not how payesh is made, huh ! I regret not ordering chhena poda, that might have been better.

I saw some people were having Pakhala thali and veg thali. The veg thali looked delicious though with alu bharta, saga muga, kobi kasha and dalma.

The waiter was very attentive and constantly pinging with the line "anything more you want sir", which I found extra attentive :D.

Total bill came around 499/- including taxes, would have been happier had the desserts been better. Also, the portions are small considering the price paid.
=======================================================================

The Dalma revisited... Dt: 29-May-2016: Had Odia Veg thali - bhata, dalma, alu phoolkobi tarkari, bhendi aloo bhaja, badi saaga bhaja, amba khata, kakudi salad, potala korma and khiri. Extra order: Bamboo mutton, dahi baigan and chhena poda

Liked the bamboo mutton and as far as sweets are concerned a lot of improvements needed. You pay 45/- for a piece of chhena poda and it will be tasting like steam cake, not worth. And a katori full of kheeri without any cashew, kismiss will cost you 50/-, hopeless

Helo
Its very difficult to get authentic food. But luckily there are chain resturent like DALMA which makes our taste bud homely. Food with real combination of spices are difficult to get but its surprisingly in DALMA..

After so much deliberation finding a good oriya restaurant in Bangalore, finally landed in this place... The restaurant is pretty easy to locate among the variety of food corners located in that street... The ambience is nice... I ordered puri and chhena tarkari while my friend ordered a special veg meal... The food was served within some minutes... So enjoyed their service... Coming to the food this was a welcome break from the other oriya restaurants in Bangalore in terms of taste and value for money... It was quite near to the original dalma restaurant taste back in Bhubaneswar... The Chhena tarkari was soft and perfectly prepared... In d meal, jahni rai was awesome... The karela chips was something I had after a long time... Had an awesome lunch here... Highly recommended for people who wanna try oriya cuisine...

We chose to have a late Sunday lunch at Dalma. I am a Bong and this was my first time at an Oriya restaurant. We went there with a odiya friend who was a good guide and suggested us dishes, on the condition that she shouldn't be blamed if the food didn't taste good here. The food very good. Chicken kassa was good. The chingi dalma was too rich and oily but tasted good. We had dahi baingan which was awesome and very new to me. We had chenna poda for dessert. Its basically baked curd-cheese or chenna (the same stuff thats used to make rasgullas)

Never had so much of mixed feelings in an hour in a restaurant ever!!!it started with good n ended on a sour n insulting note...Well it was Saturday 9 when I decided to head to eat at this place rather going to a pub. The person who took our order was courteous and made sure that I know what I am ordering. But the food that followed started disappointing. I guess the oil they use, comes free to them!!!Aloo bhaja was oily, poori guess was fried in cold oil so was oily (had to leave 1 of the 2 ordered).Mutton in handi which he said would be different was nothing special... I ordered roti which was served cold. Now comes the time to pay the bill. I left to get my car n had my GF n her elder sister there. Since they did not accept cards one had to go down and get the cash. Now comes the insulting instance. They were asked if I had left n then the guy who took the order said will come down to collect the cash. This is totally unacceptable. They should have a board saying please carry cash or be humiliated... Never heading back for sure

Service is fast than other dalma in koramangla.. Best place to have lunch with your family. This is a purely oriya regional hub. We liked the food very much.
Sasidharan
The fried fish and the non-veg Pakhala are really good. Actually there are two Dalmas and they are both rivals. I don't know about the one near Sony signal. I'm talking about the one near Kalyan Mantapa.

Fleecing people and giving a bad name to the state. There cuisine is also not a typical odia cuisine as they would make everyone think. This place is an embarrassment to the people from the state. It is also very ill managed and the owners should understand that jugaad in this business may not work every time . At least stop using the name of Late Akshaya Mohanty to promote your bussiness. What a shame!!

My silence shall speak all..
Why demean oriya food in the name of oriya food.
Still I ate... And concluded regional food is best cooked at home and not hotels.

Great food and ambiance is great
This place is right on a signal on 100 ft road. The food Oriya flavor to it but it is far from fine dine. Easy on the pocket with cost for two around 350. Go there if you want to experiment, dont rate ambiance higher than food and dont want to burn a hole in your pocket.

Dalma is the only Odishan/Oriya restaurant I'm aware of. Though I did spend a couple of months in Bhubaneshwar, back in 2005, I don't think I ever ate at an "authentic" eatery there (sticking largely to the Coffee Day, Baskin Robbins and rolls from myriad OPOLFED kiosks). My familiarity with Oriya cuisine is quite low, so I'll not be able to comment on the authenticity of the food served. Dalma is one of those restaurants (along with Axomi, Zingron, Naga Chef, Bangaliana, Junior Kuppanna and Bangalore Donne Biryani) that make Koramangala such an incredible regional food destination.

The restaurant is in a good location, at the top of the building overlooking a busy street. The interiors are sparse, but functional. The service here is very pleasant. Friendly staff will encourage you to eat some more and the manager will come over to explain the items and tell you about Oriya food.

The food here is really simple and honest. A tasty Dalma, an really scrumptious Mutton Kassa and a decent crab curry (was a special) and steamed rice rounded off our meal here. The mutton wasn't as tender as I'd like it to be, but the taste was perfect and for the price, I cannot complain.

We ended the meal with the best item, the Chhena Poda. This is one thing that you should not miss. All in all, a good restaurant to have on your list.

Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Warm and quiet ambience on a busy street. Go for the Mahurali Besar, Mutton or Chicken in mati handi, Crabs fry, Chhena Tarkari, Nadia Bara Tarkari and Veg Chips. In summers don't forget the Pakhal or soaked rice. Splurge without a bother...the bill will be light!
Remember Oriya food is not Mughlai or Tandoor style. So it's low on oily gooeyness but high on texture, spices and variety of ingredients.

I fell ill after having food here.
Me and my wife went here on Sunday evening. After checking that Veg items were decently priced decided to order Pulao and Channa Daal gravy. Server said it is prepared fresh. Gravy was prepared in 10-15 minutes

Initially it tasted good but immediately after having 2-3 bites I started feeling ill. We both left our meal unfinished. I had to rush to doctor since I was not feeling well. Next day my wife fell ill too. I still have stomach infection due to this food.

It seems either rice or the ingredients for gravy were totally stale and rotten which gave us food poisoning. It seems they prepared gravy or rice from stale items to save money. This is the first time I have fallen ill due to food in Koramangala. I have food daily in messes around Koramangala and they do not charge a lot and honorably serve freshly cooked food. This "authentic" place is an exception to this rule. They do not charge a lot for Veg items but serve stale food to make up for the cost.

This is totally unacceptable and I will NOT recommend this place to anyone. Those who ignore basic hygiene and serve stale food to save money do not deserve to run restaurant anywhere.

First thing first.. this is the outlet which is opposite to Anand Sweets/ Yana Sizzler.
It is good. The food in menu will not be available always but the ones they display on the board as their specialties for the day have come out good. Specialties however are priced on the higher end. Matti Handi Mutton(specialties) will be priced 250 while the normal one is 150. Quantity is good not less.
Whenever I feel like having normal daily food, i end up going there. Dalma cuisine(Dal with sabji) is however not that good :) Rest is good in taste with little extra oil :)
The other outlet (Zomatodotcom/bangalore/dalma-koramangala) with same name have different owners.
I prefer this outlet than the other one (Zomatodotcom/bangalore/dalma-koramangala).

If you are looking for some place with authentic oriya food at reasonable price, then you are in the right page.
I went there for lunch today, tried the veg thali. I would say after long time, I had tasty oriya food in Bangalore.
Don't get confused with the name and location as there are 2 restaurants with the same name in Koramangla. So, follow the address mentioned carefully. Don't end up in the wrong place and curse me later :) .
Looking forward to visit again and try something from the extensive non-veg spread!!

Although yu get typical Odia food over here. But over the years the quality and quantity have reduced. I would rather go out to a mess of sort to have a wholesome food from Odisha.

There are so may joints coming up in Bangalore these days that few places are ought to go obsolete unless they try out hard to keep up to the good tastes .

need to improve.

more clean space required.

Had lunch once and it was very bad.. but still want to try once more because of a good assurance form the owners..

I am a regular to this place. Mutton is really good here. Staff are courtesious and food is homely. I Go there at least once a week and have suggested this place to many friends and colleagues.

Less quantity and overpriced. Stuff not friendly and average tasting Odiya food. No ambiance whatsoever. Have not visited for a long time and might not go back as well.

Been Passing DALMA for years and finally decided to go in.

Food was good though from my very limited knowledge of bengali and odiya cuisine, i could say it wasn't upto the standards of authenticity ! But nonetheless, quite tasty.

Prices also are very reasonable and on the lower side and the thali is great value for money.

If you do decide to eat here, Don't expect any ambience, it's quite standard.

The staff is very nice and the deserts on the menu such as rasgulla are amazing !
Abhishek Sen
The namesake dish is good ; though I find the standards not as good as two years back. Still, without any Odiya cuisine competition Dalma is the best we have in Koramangla.
Other facts : The family room looks claustrophobic, the hall looks dingy. LCD screen is never on – one steward gave a bizarre logic : each table wants a different channel. So, what he was saying is that all pubs , bars , café lounges and airports should not have any TV sets. Coming to food – the thali accessory are good. There is a green palak sides, a mixed veg and the daal : all tastes very homely. The portion is just right for an individual.
Dalma gets full marks for pahala rasgulla, chena poda : must try.

I have been to so many Odia restaurant before, but DALMA is simply awesome.
I went there with my family and we all had a nice evening there.
The food quality was super, Ambience is only a little issue, but if you are getting a food like this in any restaurant the ambience will never matter to you. I ordered a couple of mutton dishes , out of that the Mutton haandi was really super in taste.

Ratings:
Food - 4.5/5
Ambience - 3.5/5
Service - 4.5/5
Price - Paisa vasool
Staff Behaviour - 4.5/5

Being a die hard Non-Vegetarian I was looking for a Punjabi Dhaba but ended reaching at Dalma inside Kogamangla 6th Block. This outlet is newly opened and the decor was neat enough to grab my attention. It was not at all crowded and got a warm welcome from the serving staffs. Coming to food, We ordered Mansa kaasa, Macha Tarkari, Dalma, Chapati, and some Rotis. The food was good and made me remember of typical Oriya cuisine cooked at home. I got the value for my money. Bill for 3 was around 600. Would like to visit again.. Cheers !!

Been there quite a few times now but I am disappointed by the decreasing quality and taste.

Most of the item which one would like to try is unavailable.
I orders fish meal and the taste of everything was good except the fish curry in which fish was overcooked(fried). The taste was not at all appealing and was unable to get the flavours of the spices.

The quantity was ok but it is overpriced.

Service in one word is awesome.
???? ????

Zamato please correct ur info guyz, this restaurant is an odia cuisine not bengali.
Hrudaya Prasanna Dash
Being a Odia guy and know Dalma very well as it has more than 20 branches all over Odisha i was eager to taste the food at Bangalore Dalma . We went here with family for a lunch around 1 pm on 16th March 2014.
The ambience of the restaurant was terrible the place was not clean and the paintings on the wall were faded.
The service was also not so good as they served the food long after we orderded.
Coming to the Food, we orderded veg meals, chicken kassa(little gravy) , mutton kassa , dahi baigana(Pan Fried Eggplant in Seasoned Yogurt )....the taste of the mutton kassa was yummy and really after long time....
Even if the quantity was less but the taste was having the authenticity of Odisha.
We also had Odia sweets like Chena Poda(Sweet Burnt Cheese) and RasaeBali, it was delicious.

I absolutely loved the food they served at Dalma. I went there to try some Odhiya cuisine and enjoyed each and every bite! The waiters are very humble and sweet and they treat you with great hospitality. The whole atmosphere is homely as they use steel utensils (kind of what I have seen at home) and serve phulkas exactly the way they should be, hot round and soft! The other food items, Dahi fish and Prawn ghanto was very tasty and nice. No extra spices and no artificial flavors, just good food that makes you feel good. plus the prices are reasonable and don't cut a big hole in your pockets. Do try it out sometime!

Landed here for dinner on my wive's recommendation, its just that she had recommended the other DALMA that she has eaten at. But since it looked a lot tidier and near to our house we decided to try this one out. We were surprised that this was so empty. Anyways we decided to risk it out ... Good that we did.

The food that we ordered was very very homely, sans any artificial stuff (they may be having but it didn't feel so) not very oily. We ordered Veg meals, Mutton Kassa, Chicken Tarkari (some light gravy curry), and chapatti. Everything was excellent other than the fabled Dalma. Yeah Dalma "a very Orissa dish" was not the best that I had. I have tasted better in Odishi in Marathalli road. The Chppathis were fluffy and soft, the curries excellent not the regular that we experience. An Odia friends confirms that its very authentic too. We just loved the whole experience.

The staff was courteous and very nice guy.

Ambiance is good and the whole place is clean.

Food like I mentioned is awesome and very homey. Wish to make this a regular visit place. LOVED IT here.

Very well priced, I mean when was the last time you ate a chapatti for Rs. 5/- The whole food for 2 costed around Rs.450/-
