Chutney was having little bit of bad smell.
Idli and dosa both are good in terms of price wise and portion wise too. It has a good taste.
But please increase the quantity of paneer chilly. It's too less for the mentioned price.

the dosa was too small and cold,
and sambhar was like water only...

The masala dosa here is amazing. The special masala dosa is especially amazing. The sambar has no real taste and neither does the vada, but the north Indian curries are good as well. Star of the place though, has to be the dosa. A great place for a jump start to the day.

Feel it's a overly rated restaurant. I'd twice visited and experienced bad service (only the cashier, instead taking orders talks to all other than one who is placing order) had same problem two times.. Talking about food not that great ... It's expensive against quantity of food been given.. I found the food items to be sweet and lacks taste.. I'd ordered veg Kurma n it was pathetic felt that ordered kheer along veggies 🤢

Ordered Set Dose through Zomato , They charge 60 Rupees which is too much and they do not even provide Chutney as an accompaniment which is a mandate !!!

Think twice before you place an order with this restaurant online.

Shanthi Sagar has one of the best dosas in the city! I’ve been going here for the past 11 years and I really love it! Their idlis are great as well.

Very reliable, consistent taste. Set dosa with aagi and chutney is simply fantastic when eaten here and remains soft and tasty even when delivered home. Sambar is ok-ish, little too much on the sweet side.

Unexpected visit, I mean unplanned but turned out to be quite good for a Sunday morning breakfast. We ordered Poori Saagu, idli vada, vada Sambhar, Plain Dosa, Kesari bath and coffee... All good except the Saagu for Poori which needs improvement.

Place is good for a quick bite though sometimes find the food too oily
tried dosa yesterday which was bit small is size, more of one of set dosa

You can't step out of this place disappointed. I have tried many other outlets of this joint, however I like this one the most. Their masalas dosa, idli and khara bath are worth trying. End your meal with a coffee here.

It's right on the new Bel road and is easily accessible. 2 wheeler parking is available.

Shanthi sagar was my go-to place for breakfast or a quick coffee. The place offers south indian staples as well as north indian and chinese food. The onion utthapam here is melt-in-the-mouth soft. Vada sambar is a favorite as hot crispy vadas are served dipping in hot and yummy sambar. I cannot enjoy south indian tiffins if the sambar and chutney are not good. Here they are delicious! Coffee is another win. It tastes just right! The coffee is not too roasted, giving it the right filter coffee taste and there is just the right amount of sugar to retain the taste of the coffee. North indian and chinese food is very mediocre. Good when you are damn hungry as it just about fills your tummy. There is another section that serves chat, but you can avoid it as its not that great. Stick to the staples - dosa, vada, idli

This one is almost like our dining room - have sampled their food for over a decade, always walking in, from the time their simple sambhar rice noon meal costed just 10rs. & they are doing well still, getting better too as I find them listed on one of the food aggregator apps recently – yet to try a home delivery though.

Strongest point of New Shanti Sagar Darshini is the hygiene & cleanliness of their place & all vegetarian Darshini food. Not once have any of us had any stomach upset or food unsettling issues after dining here. That is a huge plus for family diners with kids. And secondly, the very affordable Darshini pricing & a good spread of popular items on breakfast, lunch & dinner menu - not to mention their juices, shakes & chhats that we love too.

One of the favourites used to be their chilli paneer available in the evenings – 4 stars – its semi fried paneer tossed into an iron semi flat wok seasoned with sauces, split green chillies, spices, ginger & garlic slices. Have re-ordered them umpteen times – family loves it too – green chilli munchers most. On some days they come dry & fried well at corner & some in semiliquid gravy like sauce soaked – both are good & I prefer the latter.

Veg fried rice in the evenings. Went well with chilli paneer or butter paneer. 3.5 stars.

Another lunch time favourite is their veg biriyani with salan & tomato/cucumber/onion raita – 4 stars – it’s almost like home cooked stuff & still drool over their spicy salan. Raita is great too. Enough quantity for a stomach full when you are really hungry. Again lost count on how many times that I have re-ordered & had this one. Tasty stuff.

Then Curd Vada & Bonda Soup – can’t get better – 5stars. Drool & drool again! Order them every now & then especially in the evenings. Very homely & tasty.

Simple roti-curry – superb – 4stars.

& their filter coffee that I prefer in a lighter version – 4.5 stars – ready made decoction & piping hot milk from the boiling pot directly poured over. Superb south Indian filter coffee, have to say – almost the best in the neighbourhood.

Overall a great place to go with your family & have yummy, tummy friendly Darshini food on budget.

I ordered a take away of two north indian meals ...... The disturbing thing I saw was a worm in the curd rice...... I never expected this from Shanti Sagar.... as they have fairly good food.... Disappointed.... I tried calling them also..but no response... So I discarded the parcel...

My family has eaten here quite a few times over the years and the experience hasnt been bad, was alright.

But just got masala Dosas and Rava idlis from here for early dinner.
The dosa wasn't cooked properly and the batter was still undercooked and pasty. Never had this experience!

I'm adding new comments so that the hotel owner ensures the cooks are doing a good job. Else, who can go wrong in making Dosas at a place like Shanthi Sagar??

Failed to take pic as I wrapped it back and discarded it.
Nice place for breakfast, chats, chinese food. Its located near to chikmaranhalli bus stand. Usually crowded place. Take away food order is better option as its congested during lunch n dinner hrs... waiting period is min 30 mins.

One of the earliest breakfast places in the area. Was named Cafe Vaibhav before. Just your normal fast food place. Affordable, decent place. Quality of the food is also good. Taste is Ok. Fried rice and noodles have a burnt flavor most of the time I've eaten here which is not good. "North Indian" food is decent/worth your money. Rava Idly is the best item for me here. The affordability of food at this place gets this a place a better rating.

Just another Shanti Sagar you would find in bangalore!

One of the oldest hotels on New bel road, it has slowly lost popularity due to the competition by other restaurants. There's no seating available and it's self service. When it's crowded, food gets very late. They can take up to an hour. The meals are very filling. But the roti subzi and the Manchurian and fried rice is pretty good. Having breakfast here from past 10 years, every Sunday, the cheese masala dosa is good. A nice place for good, reasonable food. But don't expect good service.
Anisha
Anyone who comes here for breakfast must try the cheese masala dosa! It's literally to die for! 😋 The idlis are fresh and soft always! Good place for breakfast.

Easily the best fast food in new bel road. The food tastes really good. The Chinese and North Indian dishes are a must try here. Paneer butter masala is a must try dish. More convenient to consider a take away as you can't sit there and eat.
On the whole a very good place for some tasty food
Miracles Happen
The onion dosa is my all time favorite at this place. Coffee is strong & satisfying. Vada is a bit oily. The rest of the menu is a mouth watering stuff especially when you are extremely hungry.

Good place for those who are vegetarian. The food is properly cooked and their kitchen is also very clean . The price at which they provide the service very genuine. The place is a bit small compared to the crowd that they handle and remember you have to stand have your meals as there is no sitting arrangements there .
Satish Hatti
Very good sabzis available here.
Especially butter paneer.also like jeera rice here.
U have to stand and eat there is no place to suit and eat.

This place was just my favorite place for North Indian curries. I know I know it's suppose to be this quick South Indian restaurant where you come other a coffee , tea or a drink and enjoy it over a South Indian dish, which I did a lot of times. The idlis after amazing and me and my friend Omar were crazy about the thick coconut chutney there used to serve of you requested them nicely. We had Dosa and wadas. But what was amazing was chole bature . man I still miss that taste even with I live now in North India. The curries were the highlights including PANEER GUCHI which has mushrooms too. Paneer butter masala and Paneer tikka masala . we use to mass order it in bulks and parcel it and eat at hostel. It was a nice way to be together and eat in hostel as they don't have seating . you have to stand and eat and leave .

service is bad...response is bad too...after all this atleast if the food is good...i can ignore the rest of the bad stuff...but alas...that is not good...road side small stalls sell way better food then what they serve here...really bad experience....my 1st & last visit.

Its one my regular breakfast stops. The vada's are always crispy. The dosa's are hot and fresh. Not pricey, worth the money. I like the chats here. I mostly have masala dosa, idly vada or buns.
Adarsh Manjunath
Visited this place many times. The dosa's are really good. The chats are also nice. Love the roti and curry of this place. The food quality is good but during peak hours its difficult to enjoy the food.

Takes me back to my college days. It was our regular breakfast joint. Good food, reasonable price. I love the Idli, Dosa & Vada. They are my favourite's. You can also try Cholle Bhature, Gobi Manchurian. The Bread items are really good especially butter kulcha. Service is very fast and I mean it. Overall a place which suits your daily dining regime. College goers, a must for you people.

Shanti Sagar is known for its idly dosa and south indian cuisines, and is present in almost every area of Bangalore, one such branch is in New Bel Road. It is on the main road , quiet near to the RMV club but it is a stand and eat type of a place and not a full fledged dine in. Their dosa counter is kep seperate than the rest of the food counter. Nothing much on the ambiance as its just a road facing eatery and is best for a takeaway or for evening snacks on the road.
Coming to the food - idly is similar to other similar restaurants, set dosa's were good and had good curry along with it. Vada was very oily and did not have the crispiness that one would look for in a vada. Chutney was freshly done which is understood as we had headed for a breakfast. Sambar could improve and was a little watery. Price wise it is worth it. As far as parking is concerned -it is on the mainroad but the tank bund road opposite to it has place for parking on the roadside.

A typical darshini always seen teeming with happy customers. Been a frequent visitor ever since I was a little kid . Tasted almost everything on his menu. Always satisfied my taste buds. South Indian is better than the north Indian, but his pulav is exceptionally good. Bought a masala dosa, 2plates of set dosa, one plate Mangalore buns and a plate of pulav all for just Rs 140. Service is super fast and staff are curtous. Prefer takeaway.the food is simply scrumptious. This place is definately worth a visit.
Taste 10/10
Value for money 11/10
Service 9/10
Ambience 5/10
