Review Dindigul Thalappakatti - Bengaluru

Shrish Agarwal
I recently dined at a Thalappakatti in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, and I must say, the experience was delightful. The biryani had an exquisite taste that left a lasting impression on my taste buds. Although the chicken pieces were with bones but they were perfectly cooked. A must try is a chicken ghee roast (leg piece). They also serve different flavours of soda @ ₹49 each which is a good option. What made it even more special was the way they served the food – on a banana leaf placed on the plate. The staff provided excellent service with their kind and friendly demeanor. Overall, it was a good experience. We will definitely visit again.

It was my time at this place and I loved it! The food was fantastic....everything we had tasted good and authentically South Indian. We started with kuchi mutton, which is a semi dry dish, that we had with parota and tandoori roti. The mutton was succulent and the flavours were perfect. I can't recommend this enough. The other thing we tried was the naidu mutton biryani. South Indian biryanis (the non dum biryanis) have a certain colour, flavour and aroma. I happen to like and enjoy them. For our drinks, we ordered lime soda and jigarthada which is a cold and sweet drink. It's a summer drink popular in Tamil Nadu. Jigarthada was a little too sweet for our liking and we couldn't go beyond a few sips because we were already full. Before you place your order, the staff will present to you a huge thali of all the specials of the day. It gives you a good visual reference of food you want to order. We went there at around 12. We were the only ones at that time. This place gets crowded during the lunch and dinner time. So pick your time accordingly. I would highly recommend this place for an authentic South Indian treat.

Yummy Seraga Samba rice mutton biryani😍 Liver fry, pallipalayam chicken, dragon chicken, mutton fry was too good. Must try place

Awesome experience with Dindigul Thalappakatti Biriyani. Ordered Chicken Starters, Fish Starters with Tasty Chicken Biriyani. I loved the Fish Fingers especially. The cost was reasonable and very well maintained ambience. Only disappointment was the service. They take their own time for serving. I had asked for a tomato sauce and they took around 10 minutes to serve it. I think it was just my table service. Other table service personnel was very quick. Anyways must visit!!!!

I just had an amazing meal at Thalappakatti! I ordered the mutton biryani and the chicken 65 biryani, and both were delicious. The rice had a different flavor in each dish, which was really interesting. The flavors were mild, but still flavorful. I would definitely recommend this biryani to anyone. The service was also good. The only downside was that we had to wait a bit for our food, but it was worth it! The atmosphere was nice and cozy, and I would definitely come back here again.

I'm new to Bangalore. Like most bengalis, I too don't jump in excitement at the first glance of South Indian food. But this time, it was different. Went for lunch at 1:30 pm on a Saturday. There was no waiting time, but it soon started to pack up fast. Being a South Indian chain, they have really outdone themselves with a fine selection of dishes and a curated menu to suit the North Indian palate (Bangalore, being the hub it is). The most common question that any newcomer when they visit a restaurant, including myself asks is, 'What's the speciality here?' They have perfected the answer to that question. The staff will show you a full tray with 12 of their signature dishes to pick your fancy from. That's a definite win in the customer service and experience section. The food was great, we ordered several dishes, including their biriyani rice, soup and the coolers, among other items. Their service was fast, and all seemed very cohesive. It's one thing to eat at a restaurant, but to connect with them, and fall in love with the food, and in turn with the city, is a whole new level. Thalapakatti, you've made me grow fond of Bangalore a little more, thanks to your delicious dishes and courteous service. I'll be back.

It's actually a pretty good spot but I think it's a bit overpriced and both the special chicken biriyani and mutton was pretty good 💯

We really liked the cuisine, especially the mutton biryani, which was excellent. Chicken gravy also tasted nice. We loved your cuisine, especially the mutton fry.

Great location, beautiful surrounding atmosphere,in Dindigul Thalappakatti Marathahalli and great staff. Most friendly and helpful Manager Khalid Abdullah and staff ever, lovely and great first impression of Restaurant. Everything about the restaurant was exceptional. It was clean, stylish, with excellent service. we had dinner. Food was good and great value for money and service was attentive and efficient. Ambience itself was well equipped and comfortable. I was very pleased with my having. I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.

We liked their moru moru prawns and fish finger. Thalappakatti chicken 65 biriyani and Thalappakatti mutton biriyani was ok ,but not that great, nevertheless chicken 65 in biriyani was good. Good ambience.

Best in class tamilnadu food with moderate price 👍
Dinesh Krishnan
This is a Tamil style eatery which has great Biryani made with Jeeraga Samba rice typical of Tamil cuisine along with good selection of meat items. Food is served on a banana leaf. If you are looking to explore Tamil cuisine this is a good place to start although prices are a bit on the higher side. We tried out the Mutton Keema Ball Birayani, Mutton Biryani and the Chicken 65 Biryani. The Rice for the biryani are all the same but the meat is varied. The curry given along has a good kick. For starters we tried the Chicken Porichadu which is essentially fried chicken served on skewers which isn't all that common in Tamil Nadu but was good way to serve the dish. All the dishes we tried here were good but the service is lazy and you have to wait quite a while for your food. Quantity of meat served does not justify prices. Quality and taste is okay. Pepsi was served in glasses and not by the MRP. Visit if: 1. You are exploring Tamil cuisine. 2. Prices are not an issue for you.

Ok...let me clear the pros... Good Taste, Clean Restaurant and Good Ambience. And that's it. <br/><br/>Now the cons.... Horrible portion size, overpriced, hyped. I mean these things... If u order a mutton biryani for 299 u expect a good portion of food... They serve you a handi of rice with 2-3 popcorn sized mutton piece... I did question...they simply replied that they only used to give 1 piece... someone complained Nd now they give 2-3 small size pieces. You will be amazed by the attitude... I know this place is respected and revered..but my god that's bad. Honestly if you want to have a good wholesome meal...go to Paradise...they serve much much better... Unless u want to eat a 300 bucks pulav.... One more thing... Raita was fabulous... The best raita by a mile!

Yesterday we ordered 2 boneless mutton biryanis, but we got 2 chicken biryanis instead. And hotel reception is irresponsible and not even picking calls to enquire the same. And the chicken is so worst in taste and no spices added to it. Surprisingly they call it as biryani. And the salan is hopeless in taste and it is just like salt/chilli powder are added to water. you can prepare better one at home what they supply to deliveries. Disappointed with taste and quantity. Not at all worthy for 350 bugs!!
Vinisha Cresence
ONE OF THE WORST RESTAURANTS EVER. They made the partner wait for 2.5 hours at the restaurant and eventually the order was cancelled. delivery partner was at the restaurant waiting and they didn’t give the prepaid order. The restaurant was not picking up the call and was disconnecting after 3-4 rings. Asked delivery partner to give his phone so that I can speak but they were not willing to speak. Never ever get a delivery order from this restaurant. The staff and the service here is irresponsible and unprofessional!!

Purchased paneer biriyani , the size of paneer cubes were to die for . I had to literally look for the paneer cubes soooo small . Bland taste and absolute garbage biriyani ,I make make better biriyani at home. Even road side food serves better pulao than this. Probably worst biriyani ever had and never gone back again to even explore for second time. Vegetarians Please avoid this place.

Nice place, tasty food

Yesterday I ordered food from here with alot of expectation as it was famous for their legendary Biryani but it was really bad experience. It had plastic in Biryani. Really disappointed. Expected good hygiene and safety from them. Not worth the price or portion size of biryani. Never ordering again.
Rahul
Best place to have biryani, different taste overall

Must try - Chicken 65 Briyani (Feast for the South Indians who is craving for briyani)
Prasanna Ganesan
Very disappointed with the food quality, am from tamil nadu I know the taste of kothu parotta, here it's not cooked properly I don't sense flavour and the kola urandai is burnt completely which is not acceptable. Food should be atleast worth for the money we paid but it's not even worth half the price. We dint expect such a bad service.
Karthik Natarajan
Guys I am a regular and love your Biriyani. Yesterday ordered Biriyani and garlic fish . The fish was totally spoilt ! When you charge over 330 bucks for it the least you can do is ensure the quality .
Meenashi Sundaram Ramakrishnan
Only 3 or 4 small pieces n one egg with full of rices, too much costly.
Manju Seetharam
Quantity of the food delivered was so less and the price they charge is high.
ROMI
Ordered paneer biryani, since the place is quite famous for its biryani, but the 4-5 tiny paneer pieces were very chewy and rice tasted average. Quantity was very less. Considering am paying around 280₹ +charges for the biryani, the taste wasn't up to the mark. Also they had very limited items on the menu so I expected it to be one of their expertise .would prefer godavari &meghana biryani more
Febin John James
I have ordered here multiple times from Zomato. They give very little raitha with biriyani. Sometimes they don't even add it. It hurts when you pay more than Rs.300 to order through Zomato and they don't even have the curstesy to add the required side raitha. This is even after calling them multiple times. On my last order, when they missed raitha I ordered another item through dunzo and asked them three packets of raitha for which I was ready to pay for. However, instead of sending what I asked, they sent me tomato sauce along with one small packet of raitha. I am never going to order from this restaurant again.
Ashwin M
I wonder where they get such mutton. It's tender and perfectly cooked everytime. Mutton Biryani and Mutton Sukka are my favourite
Puneet Sharma
The service is fast but i was really really disappointed by the quantity portion they serve. I mean first of all they dont have biryani rice in biryani. We ordered mashroom biryani, felt like we got mashroom fried rice also the quantity was not at all sufficient for even a single person, highly disappointed. Taste was good but quantity wasnt, no value for money
Pranav Ramakrishna Bharadwaj
Its very hygienic and the service is fast and good. It comes across as a premium biryani restaurant only till you taste the food. The biryani is average, starters is slightly above average. They charge about ₹250-300 per biryani but the amount of meat in it is unbelievably disappointing. This place is not even in the same league as Paradise, Meghana, Behrouz in terms of taste, quantity and value for money. Their only usp is its Dindigul.
Rashpreet Notra
Staff and service is really quick but the wuantity they serve is too less.Taste wise its 5/5
Rajesh Jayapal
All the food that we ordered were Amazing. Importantly Susan and his team was very attentive and has taken care of us very well. Thanks.
Vasanth R
Their chain of restaurants in Chennai was good when they started. But their biryani is not authentic and it is tasteless. Very crowded always. Had to wait for 15mins even on weekdays.

👍
Mohanraj Natesan
Quantity is so less for the money we pay.
Vineeth P V
Less Quantity for the high price of 350Rs. Anjappar or Hydrabadi Biryani house serves better quantity for better price. Dont buy this from restaurant and disappoint.
Hemant Juyal
Biryaani box size has been changed which is giving less serving quantity now. Earlier the box size was decent and used to serve 2 people full and today I received the Biryaani in new small box, which was providing very very less serving quantity for 2. Pretty cheap way to loot zomato customers and making more profits on online orders. This will ruin Thalappakatti brand name.
Sam
Ordered delivery of chicken biryani and quality is okay. However, quantity did not justify the price. Biggest disappointment is the sherva served with it instead of mirchi ka salan. Sherva was not definitely of chicken, it has lamb waste like intestine pieces. Please mention clearly that it is lamb on the container!!!
Ramkumar
Ordered parotta its too hard while eating its re heated and given due to parcel.
Pramod Nayak
I ordered Mutton Boneless Biryani (as done on many instances in the past). Concerns with the order.<br/>1. The package was not sealed.<br/>2. The quantity was significanthly lower as compared to past orders - suspect either the delivery executive or some one at the restaurant has consumed part of my meal.
Prakash
-yes it is boneless mutton Biriyani but with egg to reduce Briyani quantity.<br/>-not only bone less but also less quantity briyani for that rate, this is only sufficient for 5 year old child.<br/>-taste is satisfactory only. Not so wow type.<br/>-may be they are following a different quantity for online orders.

Did not receive what was ordered. Missing item

Today had a relaxing dinner at Thalappakatti with friends and our plates were full with biriyani..<br/>We ordered 2 starters, Panner Tikka and Tandoori chicken which were nice and sufficient in portions for 2 respectively. For main course, we ordered 4 types of biriyani, Mutton, Chicken, Chicken 65 and Paneer biriyani. The last one was for my vegan wife. My little daughter was happy with Idiyappam (String Hoppers). Biriyanis were well cooked and delicious and only grievance was that chicken in biriyani could have been cooked well. We ended the meal with lime soda which can be a little cheaper. It was too crowded today and had to wait for 10 mins to get a table. Quick service was a plus. Private conversations not possible as the place is small and packed with seats. Overall a must visit for all biriyani lovers.
Priyanka
Ordered veg biriyani once from here.<br/><br/>This review is especially for my non-spicy eating friends to save their money. Food is very spicy. If you do not eat spicy food, plz refrain from ordering here. I ordered and wasted my money.<br/><br/>Only reason for 3 star rating is it would be unfair to judge the dish as bad coz it was spicy, as some cuisines are basically spicy.

For all you biryani lovers out there this is a must visit place. The biryani is really good. Really like the concept of using banana leaves. It adds to the tradition. It is a bit crowded. Preferably to go on weekdays or off timings to avoid crowds.
Shoba Devarajan
Mutton in briyani very hard & chewy not able to eat just left it, last time it was better but this time not good. They need to maintain the quality. Chicken items good

Taste - 5<br/>Ambiance - 3.5<br/>Service - 4.5<br/>Value for Money - 4.5<br/>Menu Variety -4.5<br/><br/>Very quick service and absolutely love the biryani. I tried the mutton biryani which had great portion but yet left me craving fir more. Another favorite of mine is their mutton paya soup. The peppery shorba soup is an acquired taste and very few restaurants make them as good.

We went on Monday night for dinner. We were six people.<br/><br/>hot and sour soup : there was only hot about it nothing sour in it.<br/>Sweet corn soup: no salt or taste at all.<br/><br/>chicken barbecue , Gobi Manchuria, gobi 65, veg pepper and salt as starters: they were all ok. No spice though.<br/><br/>In Main course we ordered chicken curry and veg Kadai. Tandoori rotis, butter naan, Masala kulcha.<br/><br/>Tandoori rotis and masala kulcha were too thick. We complained to manager also about it. There was no butter on butter naan.<br/><br/>No panner items available. They say it’s out of stock . Very surprising answer by a restaurant manager. <br/><br/>Very few deserts available, don’t waste time in searching through menu. Directly ask what is available in restaurant.<br/>Whatever u ask from menu they will say they are out of stock.<br/><br/>They have a tv used as display for items. That items displayed in tv are way different from<br/>Menu.<br/><br/>Cutlery is not at all provided properly. For every single spoon we have to wait ten to 15mins minimum.<br/><br/>Restaurant manager also it seems us least bothered about his customers. I won’t recommend anyone fir this place.
Chaitra M
I ordered Ghee rice hoping that they will give veg or non veg curry, I ALSO SPECIFIED ABOUT THIS ON COMMENTS SECTION while ordered yet they sent Chinese sauce with Ghee rice. I don't understand how on earth can one eat that with ghee rice+ Chinese sauce
Kiranchandru L
Horrible service! Had to wait for around 40 mins to get the food! Taste is asusual. Need to improve a lot in service
Daksh Goel
Extremly expensive as per the quantity and taste , two people ordered 2 biryanis and still could not have stomach full of food .. for InR 600, completelt over hyped , not even worth a try .. dont keep this place in ur bucket list
Avinash Pasupulate
Not worth the cost, also if you buy it on offer the quantity is automatically reduced.

Flavourful Briyani filled with spices , sukka is must try, there egg ceylon paratha is just delicious<br/><br/>Briyani - 7/10

i ordered 5 Moru Moru parata as delivery. Each piece was 78rs.They did not provide any gravy with the parata. How do you expect to eat that without any gravy ? It is like having plain idli without chutney and sambhar!! On top of that as per the name moru moru means crispy in tamil ..but this was rubbery..

Omg! It’s the best food I ever tasted here. <br/>I am from Gujarat and I have tried several dishes but this restaurant’s taste was so authentic and new<br/>That it will be in my taste buds forever and I will crave for it from Gujarat!<br/><br/>The manager Shivkumar was very helpful, my mother was pure veg- he arranged biryani for her which was already finished<br/>This shows how customer centric they are! Which is v rare to find now <br/>We ordered mutton Nalli gravy, veg biryani and crab soup it was very tasty and soulful.<br/><br/>I would totally recommend everyone to visit this restaurant for its hospitality, tasty food and different dishes!

Having been introduced to this chain quite some years ago and been to their restaurant in Chennai, I wanted to try some of their outlets in Bangalore. HSR was my choice in B'lore. First of all the place was over packed probably being New Year's day. However the place is too small for Dindigul Thalpakatti (DT) in HSR. Despite of reservation we had to stand too long. The Manager handling table assignment would have been more efficient and there has to be some waiting area as people were thronging on tables as if they only deserve to sit and eat and those who are already dining have no right of privacy. Coming to food, we had some non-veg friends and my family ordered veg. But due to heavy rush, the staff gave us a list of items they wished to serve. So this time we did not have much choice to order food of our choice, rather ordered from the limited options given. The food didn't disappoint though. Even the veg options very limited were good. Not to miss, despite of the rush and circumstance our waiter and the guy taking order didn't disappoint us. They were very good, supportive and a Manager was moving from table to table taking feedback and making us comfortable. Looking forward to go again on a normal day with light rush and to order good of our choice. I would end with a word of advise for the owner to have a spacious place in HSR/ Sarjapur Road as they can expect more business and this cramped space would not suffice.
Priya27.neha
Worst place to dine out in hsr. We went there for dinner and ordered 2 dishes, we were served with only 1 of them and later informed the other dish we ordered is not available. Staffs were not at all courteous. Even the water they served was also not clean. No tissues nothing. Clearly a big no from me. Pathetic service.
Aniket Singh
Bad service. You will get to know once you go there. Below average food. Rude waiters. Unhygienic utensils.
Deepthi Varier
After hearing great reviews about this place we went on a weekend lunch. The place was packed! We tried the signature chicken biryani which was good but not out-of-the-world. The vegetarians ordered nan, veg gravy and veg biryani which tasted good. The portion size was small. Nothing i am craving to go back for..
Vivek Bhat
The ambience and food was nice, especially tomato soup that our daughter liked very much.. Mushroom biriyani din taste great, not sure of the rice used, seemed more apt for Jeera rice types.. Also, just a recommendation to keep cutleries in each table which we can pick than make it painful to call folks every now & the... Nevertheless, had a great weekend outing..
Saju Mathew
I do not understand why do people rate it high, for such a worst biryani. <br/>I never had such expensive biryani made up of low-quality rice.
Vishal Kumar Saw
If you are looking for a decent taste and spicy food, this is NOT the place to go. Please avoid biryani. Any biryani. The rice is not biryani rice. Neither does it has any taste. We ordered muttor paneer as it was just water gravy. Naan was ok but for paneer kulcha its a big NO. Above that it was way too pricey for such food. Never gonna recommend to anyone. The restaurant was not even 1/5th full amd the waiter asled us to sit in a 4 chair table rather a 6 chair although no one was present at all. So it's not just food but behavior as well.
Nischal Sharma
While I was in Bangalore and passing by this place and my friend told me famous biryani of Dandigul and we took a u turn and went for a quick food break and ordered mutton biryani was spicy and had juicy mutton pieces well quantity was bit less and ordered one chicken preparation was also interesting with different masala .<br/><br/>Pretty Quick Service .

Ordered mutton pepper dry....it was told that item is not available....but later I was informed that mutton pepper is available and served....it is worst pepper dry I ever had....it was cold and pale<br/>Quantity was just 4 pieces...it seems left over mutton was served....<br/>Waste of money....they are surving with false hype....over rated restaurant!!!!

Went with a huge crowd on a weekday for lunch. We got a small separate hall just right for us. Ordered Chicken 65 biriyani, Mushroom Biriyani, Egg Biriyani, Chicken Biriyani and few plates of Natholi fry, Pepper Chicken and Paneer and some more dishes. Everything was good and tasty. Really liked the Chicken 65 biriyani. The pieces were crispy and soft.

Place is awesome with gud and cool ambience, food is too tasty love de biriyani and fish item it’s was lovely need to visit again
Harsh Raichura
In home delivery quantities of raita and salan are very less. They will charge you extra for more raita and salan. They should provide enough quantities.
Aditi Aggarwal
Wow!!! Amazed at how can they be so good at everything. Service was extremely prompt, you can never feel left out. The food was just yum... We ordered a Tomato soup, Chicken Biryani, Paneer Biryani and Gulab Jamun. It was the first time that we did not care about the chicken in the Biryani because the rice was so good. The Gulab Jamuns were the best that I have ever had. <br/><br/>Service - 5/5<br/>Food - 5/5<br/>Ambiance - 5/5 <br/><br/>Highly recommended!

Always a fan of the famous Dindigul thalapakatti biriyani. This outlet also didn't disappointed. We tried the Mutton leg soup, pepper dry fry chicken, mutton liver mutton Biriyani and the jigarthanda.<br/><br/>The service was fast and good.
Akshay Gupta
For them egg biryani is two boiled eggs with fried rice
Sam
The mutton biryani was very different from usual biryani . The rice was flavoursome and best part it didn’t have the usual red chilli powder nor oily masala.. But the Mutton pieces were a huge disappointment. They were hard, dry ,<br/>unchewable ..for humans. It was very sad coz I was really looking forward to it. The rice was the face saver.. thanks for the xtra raita.

Based on the suggestions of a friend I ordered a thalappakatti chicken biryani. It was clearly different from any other biryani I had ever tried. So me and another friend of mine went to this place on the next Saturday. We ordered moru moru prawns, thepori chicken and thalappakatti chicken biryani. I liked the Biryani and the prawns but thepori chicken wasn't good. Also found a mutton piece in chicken Biryani. I don't eat mutton so yeah that was a surprise. The price is on the higher side

We waited for around 20 mins and when we sat they said the biryani is over. They could have told in the beginning it'll be over.<br/>We were not very angry and went again the next week, can you believe exactly same happened. This time we even asked before waiting and said what happened before week. Again the same happened, biryani got over.

Very bad

Mutton Boneless Biriyani was great , but resturant in terms of service was poor. I was waiting for the table , the person who was coordinating told us to wait near the table so that others who is having food will finish it fast. Same he have done for us also, people waiting near to the table which is pathetic and a bad way of handling customers.

Was not worth the money at all

Ordered chicken 65 biriyani. It had 5 piece chicken n one egg. Description showed 2 egg n got only one. Rice is normal rice n not biriyani rice. Taste is average. Dint find it worth d price. Packing was good.

We visited the place after reading a recently published article in Economic Times. However the place didn't reach our expectations. Biryani was dry and had a strange smell of raw chicken! Mutton Biryani was okay. Portion size is less for the price. Staff were rude too. Overall, a below average place and a disappointing experience.
Thaara B R
Whatever they quote is the price... It is 2 times more comparatively.. we directly went there and had mutton biryani and nati kozhi briyani.. mutton biryani was good... Nati kozhi briyani they gave broiler chickens.. pepper chicken is not good tasted like roadside Gobi.. idicha kozhi is literally like normal one... Cream soup was not creamy...
Mohamed
Worst experience ever.. have ordered mutton biryani (4 packs).. but finally we ate only Biriyani rice.. we threw all the mutton piece away.. it’s just like rubbery and very hard to bite.. I will not order again from DT.. very hyped place.. don’t just walk-in for name shake..

Long pending visit accomplished today. We reached there at 12:30 and it was already full. We got a place finally.<br/>We ordered mutton biriyani, mutton sukka, prawn sukka, chicken black pepper and mint coolers. Everything served so quickly and hot. Food was so tempting that I did not take any pictures 😀.<br/>Everything was superb. Must visit place again and again..

Finally I got a chance to this hyped place located in HSR. The best part here is the service, you won't feel left out anytime. One or other staff would always be attending. Service is too prompt and quick, staff is courteous. The decor is nice and calm ambience. Now coming to the food... I like the way they serve the food, starter was too good. But, Biryani wasn't much wowwwww... It was ambur style, very dull in taste, the rice was little over-cooked and too dry. But I loved the smell and aroma of Biryani. Not sure if it wasn't my day.. I would like to give the place another try. Hope it gives me a chance to change my review. 😉
Nitesh Kanth
Had Talapakatti mutton boneless biryani, the rice was amazing and the mutton was cooked just perfectly!!. But i felt the mutton to rice ratio was less, got about 5 bite size pieces of mutton. The raita and sherwa also went well with the rice but the rice doesn't need it it's good as it is.

One of my fav places in Bangalore when it comes to decent chettinad style food. I have heard and wanted to try out this franchise from the time I had visited Chennai but never got the option to until I finally located this in HSR. Have to say that it is pretty crowded almost everytime and you would easily have to wait for at least 30 mins before you get a seat. But the taste of the food compensates for the same. Have tried out the Thalappakkatty Mutton Biriyani, Thalappakkatty chicken biriyani, Kalkoli and many other dishes and have to say that not even single one of them failed to impress me. The thalappakktty mutton biriyani is one that I would remember for a long time. The small absolutely flavorful rice along with the melt in the mouth tender mutton absolutely levitates this dish to a whole different level. You have to taste that for yourself to know what exactly am talking about. Overall the food is top notch and the service is also fast. Love this place and would go here any day, any time!
Magesh Kumar
Mushroom Biriyani was not at all good with too much salt added.Paneer Biriyani was also not good.<br/>Both the dishes were worst and didn't expect such a poor quality
SHWETHA IJS
Phew! Yet another biryani!! Mutton biryani, fish fry, and chicken grill! Hmmm! Lip smacking! Loved the biryani, fish fry.. chicken was ok..but this place is known for biryani.. you will find egg hidden inside the handi😋😋😋!! A must try. Usually very crowded! During week days too! A nice place for family getogethers and they have ample space too.. you will wait if you are late!! Minimum waiting time is 20-25mins of you are not lucky to find a seat! 15mins for them to get the food to your table once you place your order!!
Pramod Kabadi
Chiken biryani is too good, but second time returning from this restaurant without getting it. If you planning on going after 9:30 you will never get it. And keep getting sad same response from staff and let’s you walk away without food
Sambaditya Ghosh
Went with a Group of 7 on Sunday evening. The staff and manager asked us to to wait for 20 mins before a table could be alloted. Once we got the table after waiting, we were informed biriyani is out of stock. Pathetic management...I'll informed staffs.

Very good service

Chicken Biriyani taste is really good. The service is also really good. They take quite a lot of time to serve your order.  The place is nice to go out with family and friends.<br/>Don't even think about going here for dinner on weekends. It will be really crowded. I had to wait for over half an hour. The cost is a bit on the expensive side. They charge around ₹350 for boneless chicken biriyani but it had only 2 medium-sized pieces. I'm giving it 4 stars only for this reason otherwise it deserves a 5-star rating.

Hi friends, In Dindigul Thalappakatti , HSR location restaurant the sheer fish taste is very bad and it's looks like fried tomato uthappam and don't try sea foods please it's very bad, please improve the taste and quality, Thanks.

Quality of service is very low. We ordered 5 items and received only 3. Restaurant folks, didn't bother to check as to what they packed. When I call the restaurant, the response is "we cant do anything … place another order". Clearly, no sign of responsibility, even when its entirely their mistake. Its like "we don't care" kind of attitude. Despite high cost of items, order was placed with a hope of some good quality of service but the response left us to realize that its no better than any road-side one.

This was my first visit to Thalappakatti Biriyani place.<br/>Firstly they are famous for chicken biriyani but the time we reached der they only served Keema and chicken 65.<br/>The food looks really delicious but they don't use biriyani rice to make biriyani.<br/>285 is the price for Keema ball biriyani the total number of balls in my dish were 3 really? I should I have simply gone for chicken momo.<br/>Before we finished the dine the waiter came with the bill PFA<br/>How money minded are u?<br/>Simply overrated place pls go to some other place where they respect customer.<br/>I'm feeling bad about the overall experience
Rinish Balan
Clean and neat place<br/>Polite staff and good behaviour <br/>Biriyani tastes good, it is little different with small rice, though not kerala biriyani rice, I guess jeera rice. <br/>Mutton biriyani was better than chicken biriyani. But mutton pieces were less for that price<br/>Sufficient quantity in one serve vessel.<br/>Very rich raita with thick curd and gravy were good too<br/>Paya soup was good and almost gave me hiccup.<br/>Veg paneer biriyani was not up to the mark, my veg friend said he has had better paneer biriyanis
Kavitha H Reddy
Ordered chicken biryani and chicken 65. Worst food ever. Found a small piece of metal wire in biryani, it was stale and not hot at all. Chicken 65 was horrible with only 4 boneless pieces, over priced and poor food quality.

Service was very worst. Kuchi mutton not worth for money. Fish sukka seem like a old fish taste.. was not at all good. Don't try. Mutton biryani and Chicken soup OK. Over all costly and not worth for money.
Naresh Reddy Bijnu
I have ordered biryani along with black pepper chicken and a jigarthanda..it's really wonderful and it's unique experience..must try atleast once at this place.. it will not really make you disappointed

Had amazing food here last week!<br/>The egg biryani was so so yum. Along with others<br/>Also I went on a Sunday and there is a waiting of about 20 minutes so better reach early for dinner.

This place is heaven for every BIRYANI lover!!!<br/>From ambiance, to food, to service, they're top notch. I would definitely rate them 5 but the starters here are a slight disappointment cause they were cooked well especially the fish fry (nethili) which was the worst I've ever had. It wasn't cooked and the presentation was pathetic. Other than that it's worth every penny spent cause the menu might burn your pocket as it definitely isn't a budget friendly place. But definitely wouldn't be dissatisfied with their yum biryani variants.

Located above McD, this is a small place and gets very crowded during weekends.<br/>Whatever we wanted to order wasn't available like the tandoor menu, seafood dishes or chicken biryani.<br/>We ordered:<br/>Mushroom pepper soup(2/5)<br/>Black pepper chicken(5/5)<br/>Vanjaram roast(4/5)<br/>Mutton Biryani(3.5/5)<br/>Soup was very very spicy. The starters were very good. Biryani was not bad.<br/>Like many reviews given here Biryani didn't have many pieces, service is a bit slow.<br/>It is worth for a one-time visit. This definitely is not my go-to place.

This is my second visit to this place, both the time I had bad experience, last time when I ordered food I found one hair in my mutton Keema ball, I had called and informed the concerned person, they said this won't repeat again,<br/><br/>Again I visited today, and I found one more hair inside my kebab, in chicken 65 biryani, I just stopped eating and inform the server and the person in-charge for the floor, they don't seems be bothered about it, not even courtesy to say sorry! Or for a replacement or atleast they could have offered some discount, all them were just wondering like they have never seen hair in their life, as if they are seeing for the first time, but very bad customer service!<br/><br/>I am definitely not going to suggest this place for any of my friends and relatives,<br/><br/>Food is not prepared hygienically, and please train your staffs to be more friendly with th customers

If you go here in a weekend evening, you will know this place gotta have something amazing by looking at the crowd. No,it's not because they are kinda small in size. The food is amazing, the biryani, starters ,mmmm👌👌.<br/>It's not basmathi,it's jeeraga samba rice,it's not dum , it's their own style.I didn't try veg biryani, tried panner biryani, medium spice level for me.But it can be spicy for mild spice eaters.I wud love to go visit this place again
Sudhakaran Ravichandren
The place is famous for Biriyani. I have tasted it multiple times and in my opinion it is good. A very flavorful biriyani in town. Got its unique taste than the usual Hyderabadi biriyani. The only downside is meat in the biriyani I way too less. An egg would not compensate meat. The starters were average or too less meat again. When you crave for a flavourful biiryani rice (I'm sarcastic here) ease try this one and it will not disappoint. Meat lovers, sorry. <br/><br/>The restaurant manages parcel very bad the rating is based on those delivery and parcel services. They missed items 2 times and they were very negligent in handling the situation. They just blame Zomato.

The quality of biryani has slightly diminished in my last two experiences. Mutton was not tender. It was a bit hard. And lot of ghee also spoiled the taste. Hope they improve.
Gowshi S Rangasamy
Mutton briyani is so delicious. Mutton is cooked well and so softy. Starters are oky. But the sitting capacity is quiet small. Can't occupy more ppl. We hve to wait more thn 30-45min if we go after 8pm. Ppl are gng only for mutton briyani. Overall it's good.

After long wait me and my wife visited the HSR Thalappakatti. First time I tasted yummy seeraga samba mutton biriyani in bangalore. It was really tasty as I tasted in chennai long back. We thoroughly enjoyed. The most highlighted dish in our dinner was Mutton Paya soup and Kuchi mutton (Mutton Ribs). Keep going.. And please maintain the same taste forever..
Karthiga Srinivasan
Must try Kuchi Mutton , Mutton Briyani , Mutton chukka & Jigardanda here but most of the receipes are varying from dindugal. Dalcha is the unique one in thalappakati but it's not serving in Bangalore Layout. Sea foods are really pathetic here. Most of the time we have to wait for more than 1 hour to get seat for dinning which is really pathetic. Natti kozhi rasam is tastes like normal tomato rasam (They just put some chicken chunks into the tomato rasam).
Unnikrishnan Ambady
Pathetic service.... one hour waiting to get a seat at 3.30 pm. Another 30 minutes to serve a biriyani which is already made... 3 piece (small) mutton biriyani at 300 rs. If you have one full day to have a biriyani.. still not advisible... I don't have an option to give zero stars.. really pathetic experice..
SONY JOSEPH
Went here for an office treat after hearing a lot about this place. Their biriyani was awesome. So was the starters of chicken we ordered. The service was nice but a bit slow. Overall a nice family restaurant.
Syed Abitheen
Biriyani Rice is good, but the meat is not at all Tasty and it was like burnt in color not boiled. meat was not fresh.. please improve the meat freshness in biriyani

Love for biryani, yeah baby!! Loved the mutton biryani here.<br/><br/>Dindigul is a place in Tamil Nadu and I was the lucky one to be there and tried in their first restraunt there.<br/><br/>This restaurant is located at hsr, above Macdonald restaurant.<br/><br/>I went along with my wife, we were quite late and reached the restraunt around 10 pm, the place will still almost occupied.<br/><br/>We just ordered mutton biryani and a veg biryani.<br/><br/>Biryani came along with onioin raita and gravy.<br/><br/>Biryani was too delicious 😋😋and mutton was properly cooked.<br/><br/>For me biryani was on slightly spicy but went well with onion raita.<br/><br/>As we were quite late, and it was first and final order we could not try anything in soup or starters.<br/><br/>Food : 4/5<br/>Ambience : 4/5<br/>Cleanines : 3.5/5<br/>Service : 5/5<br/><br/>Must Try place for sure and I am going second time sooner.<br/><br/>

In love with the Biriyani<br/><br/>Who doesn't love Biriyani right, and when it's from this place, even better. Warming ofcourse that there long queues after 7 pm, whether it's a weekday or weekend. But once you taste the Biriyani you'll know why the crowd never stops.<br/><br/>It's similar to South Indian Biriyanis but I particularly love the fact that it's more flavourful than spicy. It's moist n not dry even without the curry n one bowl will fill you up well.<br/><br/>We did try some starters and they were decent, but nothing compared to the Biriyani.<br/><br/>If you like Biryani just close your eyes and order it, esp the Mutton one, it's amazing.

I had an eye on this place since long as I have seen a lot of food bloggers praising this place like anything. So I decided to try Dindigul HSR with office colleagues. We had few drinks in house of commons restro bar and then decided to go for lunch around 3 pm which was a bit late. We reached this place and surprised to see a long waiting there. It was fully packed. We still waited and eventually got the table after 1 hour. As already decided we asked for mutton biryani which is a USP of DT and guess what the staff said its over. BUT they told us that if we want mutton biryani we will have to wait for another 20 mins. We agreed and finally it arrived :) I must say this was the best mutton biryani we had in Bangalore. I can't just stop telling how good it was. We also tried chicken rasam soup and mushroom items. Everything was highly delicious. The one and a half hour wait was worth eventually. I urge all the non veg food lovers to go and try Dindigul atleast once. You wont forget this place ever!

<br/>Directly eat in hotel taste good. But online order taste not Gud. Rice more boiled. Big pieces.less pieces only in biriyani. Expectations spoiled. Waste of money
Manasa Palakurthy
Tried mutton biryani and paneer biryani. Tastes good but the quantity is less. The bowl they serve was just arm sized (You can see in the pic which I posted)<br/>Bit expensive.<br/>Parking is not attached to the restaurant.<br/>Ambience was nice

We visited Dindigul Thalappakatti on a Friday night for dinner. This review is from the perspective of a vegetarian.<br/><br/>We were a mix of veg and non-veg people. My non-veg friends absolutely loved everything - chicken dosa, tawa fish and chicken gravies.<br/><br/>On the other hand, I ordered paneer biriyani and mushroom biriyani, only to our disappointment 15 mins later that neither is available. Not having biryani at Thalappakatti is not really a nice experience :(<br/><br/>We then ordered wheat parotta, veechu parotta and gravy - everything was good!<br/><br/>I hope I get to try their biryani some day.
Ramesh
Very worst and poorest response. After taken the order they will say the ordered items are not available.<br/>Then they will treat like as beggar that u can take that item or this item as replacement
Vaishali
I had been to this place for the first time with my frnd awho badly wanted to eat chicken. We reached hsr layout and went searching for the stairs!! Please put a big notice as frm which side to enter! We searched for about 5 mins to find the stairs. We went inside, ambience is not so great. The dining tables for 2 people are really very small.<br/><br/>Coming to the food, I ordered an egg biriyani, baby corn Manchurian. My friend ordered dragon chicken and talapakkatti biriyani. I liked the egg biriyani but baby corn tasted okay okay. My friend loved the special biriyani and also the dragon chicken as he is a chicken lover 😂. We also had lime juice and lemon soda which were okay okay. And the salad what they gave with biriyani was filled with Oly onion. I expected cucumber n tomatoes at least. and no other veggies and the curd was really very less.<br/><br/>Coming to the service, the service was great. Nothing much to explore. As it's a very old hotel people are going.
Twisted Firestarter
Missing items in delivery. One of my items the mutton roast was missing. And Zomato was of no use helping me get my refund. They asked me to consider it personal loss as I did not take picture as I should have. Never using this useless app again. Swiggy is 1000 times better at customer service. ZOMATO TOTALLY BAD AT CUSTOMER SERVICE. DINDIGUL SHOULD DOUBLE CHECK BEFR DELIVERY
Jude Mascarenhas
Waited nearly 45 minutes for a table, only to finally get a seat and be told that biryani wasn't available. This could have easily been told at the start when we walked in and were asked to wait.<br/>People come primarily to have the biryani you advertise so aggressively, and making a person waste their time on a Saturday night is unacceptable.
Harshvardhan Chauhan
Ordered mutton Biryani, chicken 65 biryani and Veg Biryani. All Biryani’s were up to the mark and the proportion of spices were all disturbed evenly. Mutton was well cooked and appeared juicy in Biryani.
Miracles Happen
Took a chicken biryani and a mutton biryani. Both tasted great, the spices were perfect treat to a hungry person...chicken biryani had huge bone pieces which I did not prefer. Mutton pieces were well cooked and tender....packing was top notch.....thank you...will be coming for more varieties to be tried.
Deepan Raj
Placed an order for 2 chicken biriyani and ended up here with biriyani rice and kebab pieces. If you don’t have first freeze the item out for ordering or call up and ask us for alternate choice. No call nothing and they just sent me one kuska with kebab. Worst and disappointing. Don’t make anyone that too who paid the price to eat, of your wish.

Gone to this place for first time in bangalore. I was surprised to see this wonderful place in HSR. As favourite dish mutton biriyani and kottu parotha. Both were just too good. Especially biriyani was too good masalas were properly added not too strong either too less. Perfectly blended with right proportion of all the masala flavours. You guys just rocks. Eagerly waiting for next visit...

So biriyani time, saw these guys in you tube as best biriyani from TGF girls. N it’s really not bad....more like, it’s very good ...small place...we visited the place but carried away our order....place looks like any other biriyani place with lighting’s ....service is fast, these guys have very good mutton boneless biriyani ...super filling and it has one boiled egg with almost 6 o more pieces in it...loved their mutton nalli chops gravy...they have a big menu and gotta visit this lil place again...the restaurant was kinda full...Saturday night!!

This is a wonderful place for good food! Taste is Yummy!! But I saw problems only in the servicing department, it would be wonderful if they listened to you or took feedback seriously now I stopped going here, I see this only in HSR branch, but the other branches are wonderful, being a Tamilian, our culture is know for good service. And this restaurant is doing that well except in HSR, “DTB” kindly take a note or you will loose your image! Please change all the staffs including Mr. Vasanth. - Thank you

I have experience going to their old shop in Dindigul and the new one in Dindigul. Both were good. But this branch of Thalappakatti is a total rip off due to the quality of food, taste and pricing. We visited the restaurant around 9.30 PM and managed to get seated at 10PM.We ordered mutton biryani, chicken biryani , idicha koli, nethili fry and chicken kothu parotta. kothu parotta was stale. Other items were not good at all. Chicken idicha koli had raw chilli powder taste due to the rush to cater to the crowd. Not worth the price at all. After eating there, I suffered for about 2 weeks due to an upset stomach. <br/>Verdict : "This is not a place to visit if you care for your health."
Ganesh Prasad
1 star rating is for the bad service. Othewise, the biriyani taste is ok compared to other ambur biriyani, biriyani paradises in Bangalore.<br/><br/>What ever was asked was not available and they asked us to come by 7:30PM as we went there bit early by 6:45PM<br/><br/>But again at 7:30 same story.<br/><br/>Then we ordered from whatever was available.<br/>But the guy just brought biriyani and looks like forgot other items.<br/><br/>We had to remind him every time he crosses us.<br/>Ended up cancelling other food items we ordered.<br/>Just had biriyani and came out.<br/><br/>Please remove all items from your menu and just keep Biriyani.<br/><br/>Thanks.
Krishna Kumar
This place is well located but not as spacious place for the fame it claims. They make you wait for full 30mints to a hour for a table. Once given the table service is very slow. Biryani is just average , their famous chicken chukka is very blant , as blant as English food. If u try ordering their food which looks good on the menu, then waiters would say that's Chinese and will take more time. Management has to do some ramp up on the crowd management . Will not crave to go again but OK for a change. Don't visit with high expectations.

Again this is the most best place for all the non vegetarians. It serves the best biryani. Must try out the Varuval gravy under Non Veg Gravy and Dragon Chicken under Non Veg Starters section. Amazing ambiance

Dindigul Thalapakatti is named after a head gear wearing legend who started selling Biryani and made his fortune with the love and money he got from the patrons.<br/>The outlet in HSR layout has a good ambiance. As with all the outlets, the service here is quick and The food is amazing!!<br/><br/>We had ordered, one Thalapakatti chicken Biryani, a Kola urandi, a butter milk and a lemon juice.<br/><br/>The Biryani which is what it's famous for, was amazingly well prepared.. the rest of the items were just good as well but the best was Kola urandi!! It's a crispy meatball made with minced meat and lentils and spices.. truly a fantastic accompaniment for the lovely Biryani..<br/>Deserves another visit!!

I ordered mutton boneless biryani. Pieces were smelly and biryani was bland in taste. Poor taste and highly priced for that taste. Becoming another paradise in Bangalore.
Dinesh Rdk
Very polite. Biriyani was so good. Never had this kind of biriyani anywhere. The place is very busy and but still they serve and quick in serving the food.

Dindigul Thalappakatti Biriyani has deep rooted history of over six decades. Having tasted its current avatar and given its brilliance, I for one cannot comprehend how much better the original Thalapakatti Naidu biriyani would have been. The recipe, i am told, is meticulously followed but the quality of available ingredients in today's scale and in a different geography will add its own spin.<br/><br/>So, for us, who cannot travel in time and the distance, the home style mutton biriyani served by this chain of restaurants is as good as it gets. The unique and special blend of spices apart, the short grained rice which absorbs the flavours rather well is a distinctive quality of this biriyani. The meat in the biriyani is boneless, tender and in taste the perfect foil to the rice. The biriyani is served along with egg, papadam, raita and a gravy all of which are welcome additions.<br/><br/>Food 4.5/5 <br/>Biriyani 5/5<br/>Thepori Lollypop 5/5 - A spicy lollypop in a semi gravy avatar with great flavours and tender fall off the bone meat.<br/>Black Pepper Chicken 4/5 - The usual soy and pepper chinese style prep but with chicken drum sticks.<br/><br/>Service 5/5 - Quick, friendly, and efficient.<br/><br/>Ambience 4/5 - Neither spartan nor fine dine, just a nice biriyani place. Always crowded.<br/><br/>VFM 4/5<br/><br/>The genie's verdict 4.5/5

Food is good. We were served by Anil Kumar, who was very polite and suggested best items. Even if the crowd was too much, it was such warm welcoming 😊 love the food because of the excellent service given. Thank u🙂

This is one of the best food joints in Bangalore without a doubt, especially for non-veg lovers. I tried fish, chicken, and mutton here and each of them were as delicious as the other. Amazing flavors and simple place.

Went out for lunch to this place with my friends. Wanted to try out this place from couple of days as i have seen many YouTube videos where guys praising this restaurant a lot.<br/>My experience was very good at this restaurant. Tried couple of items over there Chicken biryani, Mutton biryani, panner biryani, veg biryani & mushroom biryani. The quantity of the biryani's were really good and taste was super. Usually i have tried mostly hyderabadi biryani's but i must tell you go to this place and it will not disappoint you. Even tried the black pepper chicken and gobi manchurian for starters, they are also very tasty.<br/><br/>Food - 5/5<br/>Ambiance - 5/5<br/>Staff - 5/5

Not even worth for 1 star. Biriyani rice not cooked at all. Can call it as Soaked rice biriyani. Best place if you wanna spoil your stomach and health. Poor management. When reported this issue, they were very careless. Especially Vasanth and Bijay. <br/>

Food :5*<br/>Service:5*<br/>Ambience:4*<br/><br/>Heard a lot about this place. Saw in Zomato that they have opened up a new brach in HSR.<br/>After this visit I am a big fan of Dindigul style Biryani 🙇.never had before and what a place to have it for the first time 😋😋<br/>Awesome yumisome delicious mutton Biryani. The flavour the rice the mutton everything was cooked perfect right amount of spice used served with thick onion raita, papad and the gravy. When eaten all combined was just wow wow wow.<br/>For starters we had black pepper chicken and thepori lollipop. If you want to go for authentic thalapaakatti dish then go for thepori lollipop. The masala was different and the meat was just succulent.we loved it. Black pepper chicken was nothing special it's a Chinese dish with lots of pepper and soy sauce.<br/><br/>Service was super fast . Very good management and by 12:15 the restaurant was fully crowded and they are very well managed.<br/><br/>Ambience: there's nothing much extraordinary simple decor. Well maintained and clean ambience.Well it did not matter as for me the food was the steal deal 👍<br/><br/>Can't wait to go on Sunday to try their special natti Biryani!!!<br/><br/>
Jayanthi Murugappan
The food is awesome, no doubt but they have to improve their waiting time. Everytime we come we have to wait at least an hour to get our table. The next time we have to think twice before visiting the restaurant. They have got very few tables. They need to extend their space.
Sasikumar Krishnan
This is not one of the Dindigul Thalappakatti which I used to love the most in our places (Tamil Nadu). I believe they use Monosodium glutamate (aginomoto) for dishes they prepare!<br/>I've ordered mutton Briyani which is one of my favorite, but unfortunately I couldn't complete a quarter of it because it tasted different and I felt full(effect of aginomoto 🤔??)<br/>At last, I would say if you are a Thalappakatti fan, then this is not the one you should be looking for!<br/><br/>Thanks
Zipporah Sam
Really all the dishes are very good. Briyani is very tasty. Even dessert is also tasty. Worth visiting. Bit expensive but it's worth. Definitely we will visit again.

Don’t spoil the brand name <br/>I’m hard fan of this briyani <br/><br/><br/>Very worst service no ethics food quality is very bad <br/><br/>Fish fry omg I don’t know how to tell worst quality <br/><br/>Please try improve and this is not working for ur brand <br/>

This is heaven for biriyani lover ... specifically mutton biriyani... Just awesome 👌👌... The taste was authentic, cooked properly and the quantity is enough for one.... We tried mutton biriyani and black pepper chicken...it was more for two people and I ate like to the fullest and enjoyed to the fullest 😝😝... Really loved my Sunday lunch.<br/><br/>Only one thing you have to keep in my mind that you need to wait for long time during weekend here around 30-40mins. But believe me when you will reach to the table after that much long wait you will feel like worth it.
Aawardhan Logandan
Mutton dishes and briyani is good. Veg dishes<br/>average. Only a limited Chicken items from the menu were available. Long waiting time on a Sunday afternoon at Jayanagar branch. Needs a bigger space.
Jaz Jel
We went to have lunch on a Sunday afternoon around 3:30pm. But, we were dumbstruck seeing the long queue 4 a table despite the time. Had to wait for 25 minutes to get a table.<br/>The place was over crowded and cramped due to the huge number of people. But nobody bothered it once their food was served.<br/>The service was great as they were serving lime juice for the waiting customers and the orders were taken and delivered promptly. <br/>The biryani was nice. The mutton was soft and altogether, had a satisfied stomach! 😁<br/>The pricing is reasonable. <br/>The only drawback is lack of parking space for the restaurant. We need to park at nearby roads if coming via 4 wheeler. <br/>Definitely recommend for biryani fans out there who likes the South Indian style.
Hemachandra
Oh man after waiting for an hour we got the seats for done in and the Mutton briyani was amazing believe me the best Mutton briyani I ever had in my life its not a exaggeration
Prahelika
Having read a lot of mixed reviews and an empty stomach growling for some good biryani, I entered this establishment around 3 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon.<br/><br/>Thankfully its open till 4 p.m.<br/><br/>Had heard its awfully packed on weekends, but we got a table in roughly 10 min, though we had to share it with another 2 people since it was a huge table and no empty smaller tables were available at that time.<br/><br/>Care was taken to serve cold water as soon as we sat and orders were taken a bit later. The process was almost smooth. Found it a bit weird to find a waiting server inside the washroom, presumably to open and close the door after guests.<br/><br/>The food was served in under 15 min. And it was DELICIOUS!<br/><br/>Funny thing was, a friend of mine who has had food from this brand in Chennai recognized the style of food as soon as it was set on the table by looking at the raita! It was definitely different from the raita you find in Bangalore restaurants, equal portions of sliced onions and thick curd making it a sort of semi-dry raita but nevertheless, excellent combination with the Biryani.<br/><br/>Now the biryani is, I believe, a Tamil Nadu style one with short thick grains of rice in contrast to the long, thin grain biryani of Hyderabad region.<br/><br/>It was absolutely lip-smacking.<br/><br/>This is what we ordered:<br/><br/>1. Kodaikanal Chicken Roast Dry : Mouth watering flavours. Don't miss it. Though it says dry, its semi-gravy.<br/><br/>2. Prawn Sukka: Another stellar preparation. Good accompaniment to the biryani.<br/><br/>3. Thalappakatti Mutton Biryani: The crown jewel. Served with around 4 pieces of well cooked mutton and an egg. (Could have been more pieces). Along with the shorba, which was delectable in itself, it was pure culinary bliss for 18 min! Yes, that is how fast it disappeared off the table. :)<br/><br/>We also had 2 lime sodas, again well made. Nothing to complain about there.<br/><br/>The only minus I found in the whole experience was a little deficit in service. I have noticed this a lot with some popular places buzzing with crowd. There are a lot of servers but not adequate service. And it isn't a huge place either but somehow service was still slow paced and a bit difficult to draw attention to your needs. Though I don't think it was something which will put off my future visits.<br/><br/>Total bill for all the items mentioned above came to about Rs.1000.<br/><br/>Would highly recommend this place, especially to any Biryani lover out there!<br/>

The name did not strike me well as it sounds more complicated for a North Indian like myself but I was amazed to find myself waiting in a queue to have a seat at this place. One will always find hungry customers and families flocking near the doors looking to try their taste buds of this unusually but truly famous outlet. I also found myself surprisingly cleaning the plate off my paneer biryani on my first visit here, meaning the food was less spicy and tastier than any other restaurant I have been to in Bangalore. Going by this reputation, I convinced myself for another visit and tried other vegetarian starters that was prepared in less than ordinary fashion and disappointing. I suggest that one only try the biryani here as I also heard that the non vegetarian biryanis here are a must try.<br/>Taste - 3/5 due to the mixed review on 2 occasions <br/>Ambience - 3.5/5 it is clean but the staff is not able to maintain due to numerous families flocking every now and then. It got worse the second time when it rained.<br/>Service - 4/5. Angry hungry customers do get disappointed and generally create a ruckus at the reception but management so seem to try their best based on the intake of customers. Room for improvement in this department should be looked into.<br/>Experience - 2.5/5. The second trip did plunge the sword deeper into guilt. Not just me but my friend being a diligent customer in his hometown was also unhappy with how the vegetarian food was prepared. We did not finish any of our meals and also had to pay a whopping bill of 2.5k.

Am basically from Dindigul and we are well aware of the taste of our own briyani and parota.. we took a parcel of briyani and they didn’t even check if they have provided the raitha and gravy.. when we asked he said they have provided.. coming to parota worst ever taste I have a had in my life ..only for 8 parota we paid 380 rs without any gravy.. seriously u guys are spoiling the name of thalapakatti..Being a Dindigul girl now am thinking should I recommend this to my friends ???
Udhayakumar Subramani
Great biriyani.. food taste is good.. only issue is long waiting time.. I highly recommend restaurant to serve in online like zomato.. most of the time we like to have food from this restaurant but thinking about wait time we skip going to this...
Ramesh Sam
This restaurant has a valet parking but of no use. I had to park my car outside a little far away in a narrowed street. The management should provide a proper car parking space. And there was a bit huge rush at hotel and had to wait for 30mins to find a seat. Atleast the chicken biriyani was good and that way I was happy although I suffered.
Arunachalam Gunasekaran
I want to give -ve review. Worst service in entire town, person who taking order should know about what is there in the menu and they should suggest as per our requirement, but in this restaurant no one know’s anything about the menu, they just ask you ‘ you need chicken, mutton or fish’. Place is not comfortable to have relaxed dinner or lunch, AC is not proper. Food is expensive, not worth for quality and quantity. Taste is ok, not so great. I will not recommend this restaurant, there are lot of other restaurants in town serves good South Indian food and service for this cost. BTW, all chettinad items are same taste, only the name is different in the menu.

The Legend has finally landed in Bengaluru!! Thalapakatti has definitely broken the monotony of Hyderabad biryanis, Andra biryanis and definitely the Ambur biryanis in Bangalore.<br/>True to taste anywhere u try this chain from Chennai to Bangalore all taste perfectly same.<br/>Must have Mutton Biryani, super light, fragrant masalas, no fuss make this biryani a favorite.<br/>Top everything off with a Jigarthanda.. it’s just too yum!!<br/>Authentic Tamil / Dindigul cuisine on the menu makes sure the Brand stays true to its roots.<br/>Definitely family favorite.

Worst food quality.<br/>All dishes served cold<br/>Not worth the money paid.<br/>Service not good.<br/>Quantity is very less compared to money.<br/>Waiters was rude.<br/>

Good Typical Dindugul biriyani, it is nice that they even serve biriyani with Biriyani long grain rice which is also good. Soups and Starters are tasty as well.

Went on a Friday afternoon, was crowded, but what was pathetic is their crowd management. No order was followed, if you knew the manager, you got seated immediately.<br/><br/>Coming to food, though their biriyani was tasty, the quantity of meat was so less. A 300 rs biriyani came with hardly 3,4 small chunks of mutton. Everyone in our group were disappointed

The restaurant situated opposite HSR BDA complex is one of the outlets of the famed Tamilnadu brand which is renowned for its lip smacking Biriyani is a blessing for HSR peeps.<br/>They are always crowded. (weekday-weekend funda doesn’t matter) <br/>You generally have to give your name and wait for your table. This hotel brand is purely for good taste so antics such as poised interiors or anything. You come here looking for good food and you’re duly served. <br/>The biriyanis are brought in a katori vessel and these are well portioned quantity. <br/>We ordered for the Paya soup which is mutton leg soup and it was very tasteful. We loved the spice levels. Followed by starters- All starters are not big portions but that was what we liked about this place. Decent quantity- Excellent Taste- Decent price. I repeat, the best thing about them is they didn’t compromise on quality just to please by giving large quantities.<br/>Lovely food. Must go for all non veg lovers. <br/>Veggie peeps you will not be unhappy. They have a decent spread for your vegetarian friend in the group.<br/>

Worst restaurant I have ever been to, even a local 80 rupees Ambur biryani hotel has better crowd management than this place. They made me wait 30 mins with no information or status update for a single seat at a table.. and once you are at your seat no one to take order for 15 mins.. if you have a wait time just tell your customers upfront rather than making them wait like idiots in that stupid waiting area..I would rather take a walk to Shivajinagar and eat only ghee rice in any of the hotels there than visit this place again. Thank you.

The food was really good. That's the only thing which is good about the place. The manager is too arrogant and doesn't care about the customers. The place is too packed. Expect a long wait, delayed order serving, unresponsive staffs

Want good biryani? Better skip this place. Some of the small AMBUR Biryani spots may serve better biryani than here. Amused how some people are giving 5 star rating! 😓<br/><br/>!!!Long Review Disclaimer!!!<br/><br/>The whole bright setup from the inside as well as the outside along with the hype created calling itself one of the oldest and globally decorated biryani place, we decided to try the biryani. Went on a Thursday and the crowd was more than we could expect. That added to the expectations. After waiting for about 30 mins, we got a table which we had to share with another two people. UPSETTING!!!<br/><br/>We ordered one Veg Biryani and one Chicken Biryani. For the veg, the portion size was too less but after tasting it, it seemed to have grown in size multiple folds. It was HORRIBLE!!! Probably one of the worst I've ever had. Chicken Biryani was no less. The portion size was still okay, but tasted bad.<br/><br/>I'm certain that though all the hype is able to pull in first time customers, having them find again will be a tough task.

You should have lot of patience to get a table here.. crowded only bcoz of the tasty food they prepare. Service is neat and fast. Paneer items are really good.. Sweet Lime Soda after any food is satisfying

I ordered Vegetarian Biryani in the HSR Layout Branch. I asked the waiter who served me if the accompaniment for the Biryani is Vegetarian. He said it is indeed Vegetarian.<br/><br/>However, when I requested for an additional accompaniment, I was told by the other Waiter that I have been served Non Vegetarian earlier. The same was done to the group of 8 who were seated next to me inside the Family Room at the HSR Layout Branch.<br/><br/>I walked out disgusted. This happened at 2 pm today - May 8, 2019

So disappointed with the food. Got the chicken biryani and Kola urandi picked by Dunzo. The chicken was dry and the biryani rice had no flavour at all. I have had it from the Indiranagar outlet n it was good. Terribly disappointed. Will not<br/>Waste money on this again.

As I write this review, I must say that I'm stuffed and in no mood of moving around as I over ate. 😋 The hype is real, they do serve some amazing Biryani which will want you to have more. May it be chicken, egg or mutton, they all taste good. Their mutton Biryani was well prepared unlike other places where in you get the smell of the mutton and it feels like you are biting a real goat that is walking along the road side. Chicken kabab was like any other place, nothing great here.<br/>Management and sitting arrangements need to be improved to handle the huge inflow of people . A huge waiting time over the weekend, so please do go if you have patience to wait.<br/>Some of the food items on the menu were missing.<br/>Overall a great experience and would highly recommend this to others.

Came for a team lunch. And had Kola biriyani. It is nothing but fried mutton mince balls with biriyani rice. The preparation for rice remains the same for most of the Biriyanis. Really loved the biriyani. A must try.

Yes that is right, I gave a rating of one star, not because of the food or ambiance . It would have been easily a five star rating if it was just for the taste and quality of food. They were just let down by the attitude of the staff and the service. So here goes the story....we were all excited about this place after experiencing the Thalappaketti Biriyani at chennai and decided to visit this new outlet which opened near to our place in Bangalore . After a long wait in the queue, we finally got a table and ordered a chicken Idicha varaval and bun porotta , cyleon porotta and Nalli chops masala . When the order got served, I was surprised to see two portions of cyleon porotta. So I asked the bearer to call the person who took my order, since the person who served us didn’t have an idea. So the person who took the order came and I pointed to him the mistake , upon which he tried to establish that in one plate I have Ceylon porotta and other plate has bun porotta and this is how it is made here. I even showed him the photo of bun porotta and explained him , upon which he told me this is kerala style bun porotta . I said , I am from kerala and I have not seen such a bun porotta in kerala. Then he gave a lot of explanation around the same and said it is made like that in parts of Tamil Nadu, which again was him trying to establish his on version of bun porotta. I asked him to call his manager , but he was even worse. To be frank , I even tasted both items in front of him and established that both items were one and the same. On a quick side note, I should admit that the Ceylon porotta was yummy. Then came the next shock of the day, the bill. It contained two surprises, bottled water - which was never served and black pepper chicken - which we didn’t order. This will be my first and last visit here. Just serving good food will not always gather the crowd after theinitial excitement . It also matters how you treat your customer. The faster you understand the better for you.

Best place for non-veg items especially mutton varieties. You won't get seats on weekends. Worth for the money you pay. Specialty in Tamilnadu seera samba rice briyani

This is the first time I visited a DT restaurant.. This restaurant came up recently and one of my friends highly recommended the place.. walked down for an early lunch ... being alone just ordered their speciality the Thalappakatti Mutton Biriyani (Boneless) .. From the aroma to the texture to the taste, the Biriyani was outstanding... I would like go ahead further and state that this must be one of the top 3 short grain rice biriyanis in Bangalore... I seriously intend to have more lunches here for sure..

This restaurant is located in HSR Layout.<br/>I had been here with my husband. We both are biryani lover. We are trying different-different style biryani. This time we ordered Thalappakatti Dindigul Mutton biryani. Biryani was prepared in pure ghee. It was aromatic & yummy<br/>Mutton pieces was soft juicy & succulent. The quality of mutton biryani was very good. It is made with small grain rice. It is a authentic dindigul biryani.<br/>Ambience was beautiful.<br/>Service was average.

400th review on Zomato! (Including my blog count) and that's for a special place. 😃<br/><br/>Dindigul Thalappakatti is a reputed chain and finally it came to Bangalore. I was waiting for them to open in Bangalore. They have their speciality of Thalappakatti Mutton biryani which can't be missed at this place. The restaurant is located at a prime area of HSR which is a restaurant hub. They have ample seats but are usually crowded and have a small waiting time due to their popularity.<br/><br/>I had their Mutton Biryani for main course and Jigar Thanda in beverages. They have a variety of starters as well and the menu is really extensive.<br/>I will be definitely visiting this place again and again to have most out of their menu.<br/><br/>The mutton biryani was outstanding! The portion was enough for one person and it was served in a pot. The aroma of desi ghee was superb in it. It was greasy and delicious. The mutton was well cooked and the quality was excellent. They use small grain Seeraga Samba rice to prepare and it's an authentic Tamil Nadu style.<br/><br/>Jigar Thanda was good to have after biryani. It was an above average preparation.<br/><br/>The service was average and not so great. Ambience is quite good.<br/>Overall, I was highly satisfied with the food taste and quality.

It took seven years but finally, here we are! :)<br/><br/>Although the history of this chain is close to 60 years, my first experience was in 2012 in Chennai when my friend recommended and took me in their T.Nagar branch and the impression was everlasting.<br/><br/>So, when I observed that a joint opened nearby me I rushed there ASAP and sure as hell people were waiting in the hallway on weekday dinner time. :)<br/><br/>Coming to ambiance, nothing fancy but good old fashioned seating systems. For me, the more striking part of ambiance was the aroma of food in the hall...intoxicating :)<br/><br/>Coming to food, I tried following items:-<br/><br/>1. Kola Urandi - Yummm....similar palate to galauti kababs of Dastarkhwan in Lucknow but these were in form of small balls.<br/><br/>2. Chicken karandi - Yummm....These are spherical omelette with chicken bits stuffed in them. A really good item. However, a single sphere in 110 bucks seemed a little bit high from VFM perspective.<br/><br/>3. Black Pepper Chicken - One of their specialty which indeed is delicious, but I felt the chicken was overcooked making it a bit chewy. This should not happen especially for thigh/leg pieces.<br/><br/>4. Thalapakkati Mutton Biryani - One of my all time favorite Biryani if not the one as I have soft corner for Mughlai version as well. It can win hearts of even the most critical biryani eaters no matter which variety of rice they prefer. A gem of a dish.<br/><br/>Overall, I can't help but smile and look forward to many more visits....

If you want to taste Tamilnadu style Briyani and spicy non-veg items then this is the right place for you. Taste of the food is excellent. Ambience is good. Service is average as there were too rush in the hotel they were trying to cover up all the customers and failed. We were supposed to ask for spoon, tissue, water, pepper powder and all. Pre booking table is recommended. Price is above average and it is their standard across all the states. Should try mutton soup, naatu kozi varieties and their special briyani. Over all its good and expensive place which serve awesome food for non veg lovers.

Veg & paneer Biryani was excellent... It's rare to get veg Biryani good. Staff is very polite & friendly..<br/>Cons : place is a little noisy due to its popularity. Chicken boneless Biryani was ok ok. Not too great.

Food is good, even the ambiance is good but they really have to improve their service. I would rate their food 4/5, ambiance 4/5, hygiene 4.5/5 and the SERVICE 2.5/5

Tried chicken biryani. The place is not worth the hype. I heard a lot about this and want to try the food there since then. But after this bitter experience, I no longer prefer this one. I wish they maintain their standards.

A newly opened place in HSR. The ambience is good. The place is cozy and comfortable. It has valet parking too. The people are attentive. The place is crowded on a weekend..<br/><br/>Coming to food..<br/><br/>Biriyani : Biriyani is great. But the quality is less. I think the quantity has to be increased a little.<br/><br/>Starter: the starter was great. Ordered natu kolzhi chukka. The taste is perfect.<br/><br/>Kothu parota was perfect.<br/><br/>Jigirdhanda: It is good. The only thing I felt missing is the nanari sharbat was missing in it.<br/><br/>Overall a lovely place. Great food!

Today I had been here with lots of expectations. I ordered mutton Biriyani ND got worst experience. The person spoke to me in Tamil ND I couldn't understand what he have said. When food came I almost waited for 15mins in expecting they'll serve after that as I've informed earlier that I need raw onion slices they served me the onions which is marinated with curd. The mutton Biriyani I'm sure it's prepared from old stock. I've asked the captain abt the food, he said its already prepared one Nd can't change in it. When I asked for finger bowl, it was lukewarm water bowl, when I asked for bill no one had curtusy of asking any more order. I donno how they became so big food chain from India bt I'm sure these people need more improvement in their service. A worst place to visit for food. I donno what u think, Bt I think it's worst place for food time.

Had to visit this place in HSR as it is So famous for its biryani and it's newly opened. Tried mutton boneless , nati koli Sunday special biryani, mutton brain and Madurai Jigarthanda. Jigarthanda is not a good choice to have here. Biryani is just not the way it is supposed to be in the original outlets back in Chennai and Dindigul. Would be good for people who never taste the original ones. Service is good, place is small though for the crowd.

Dindigul Thappakatti biryani over here still miss out the actual flavour of biryani which they prepare in dindigul branch.<br/>Service is also quite poor . They really need to work on flavour and service to maintain their image.

My recent review after I visited this place on a weekday.<br/><br/>On a heavily raining weekday evening, landed here thinking of having something light and mildly spicy. Thought about ordering Dosai with Mutton Nalli curry, but none of the Dosa items were available. :( Then ordered the time tested Mutton biriyani and it came quickly. It stood out as usual with tender meat and flavorful rice accompanied by that mildly sweet gravy and onion raitha. The biriyani was heavenly.<br/><br/>I should have stopped here, but went overboard and asked the waiter about Fish Sukka. He said it was not available and recommended vanjaram fry. I normally don't heed to these suggestions, as they would always be bad and these people are trained to sell stuff that is not moving fast. However, the urge in me to have fish that day made me fall for this. Alas... That's a blunder. Firstly , it took almost 25 mins to get the fish fry, that even after I finished the biriyani. Next, the fish smelled like anything and was unpalatable. Being from the coastal area, when I broke the first piece itself I sensed it and then continued with it as I didn't want to waste the food. Never expected this from Thalappakatti :( When I was paying the bill, another gentleman was ordering two fish fries. I didn't want to spoil their business, so quietly paid the bill and returned. I am downgrading the 5 stars to 3 because of this.<br/><br/>Management, you have newly set up this branch and this will spoil your reputation. I understand, it will be difficult to source big fish like vanjram on a daily basis, so you are freezing it. However, if it is frozen and stored for a long time it will be a complete disaster. With so many good dishes and the consistent quality you show in them, let this not be a spoil sport. If you don't have fresh fish, please say it upfront and inform the customers that the dish is not available.<br/><br/>I will continue to be your customer, please correct these initial hiccups.<br/><br/>=======================<br/> Having relished Dindigul biriyani for several years, I was excited when they started setting up this branch in HSR layout. However, I was apprehensive about the quality and consistency, because of my experience with some of their branches in TN. The HSR branch proved my apprehensions wrong. It is on par with the biriyani you get in Dindigul. Chicken idichu varuthathu, karandi omelete with chicken, Mutton Biriyani, Jigarthanda were ultimate.<br/><br/>It’s super crowded from 12.45. It took 20 minutes for them to deliver my order. It could be because this is the opening week and they are settling in. I will visit after few weeks and update the review.<br/><br/>Price is on the higher side and ambience is minimalistic. <br/><br/>Those who are familiar with Dindigul biriyani and have a liking for it, visit this place and you’ll get the authentic taste.<br/><br/>Those who haven’t tasted Dindigul biriyani, try it and you may like it. It’s not like the long grain Lucknowi, Hyderabadi or Calcutta style biriyanis, it’s the short grained (Seeraga samba) biriyani with quality goat meat (boneless) infused by the southern spices and flavours.<br/><br/>Jigarthanda is another specialty which you will get only in and around Madurai. The one I had here is not close to Madurai Jigarthanda but it is good.

This is the third outlet of this franchise in Bengaluru and much to the delight of HSR folks, as the area is devoid of really good restaurants.<br/><br/>The food is as good as you might have come to expect from this franchise. The parking isn't an issue as it is bang on the McDonalds signal and can be done in the HSR BDA.

Traditional south Tamilnadu food place. Briyani and chicken fry is yummy. Best place to have family entertainment with food. Aatukal soup and egg chilli is good.

*editing and reducing no of stars*<br/>Pathetic service. Took a very very long time to serve us our meal. I was almost done with my biryani when the chicken drumsticks came. Lime soda came at the fag end of the meal. There was no bone in chicken biryani, so we agreed to the boneless - which had meagre two pieces of chicken. Usually comes with egg but there was no egg. Asked for it and then was given.<br/>My problem with the whole experience was the lack of anticipation of crowd by the Staff and servers. When such a reputed outlet opens up, and your staff isn't trained to handle it well, it's just a damper on the whole food experience.<br/>The ONLY saving grace was the food. Everything we ordered was delicious as always, no complaints there.<br/><br/>I was waiting for Thalapakatti to open up in Bangalore as I have been a huge fan of the enterprise since my Chennai days! Needless to say, I was delighted when I heard it opened up close to home, in HSR.<br/><br/>Reached to see a huge waiting crowd given that this was there third day of opening. Thankfully, folks were willing to share tables which meant a waiting time of 15 mins only.<br/><br/>Went in and ordered their trusty chicken biryani and Kalaki for a comfort meal for dinner tonight and it was a delicious meal! The biryani was really flavorful and the kalaki was perfectly cooked!<br/><br/>Definitely coming back for more favourites from the menu!!<br/><br/>PS: They are running a special IPL offer with a discount of 10% on online orders made at www.thalappakatti.com
