Review Ghar Ka Khana - Bengaluru

Priya Das
True value for money for everyday meal. Great homely food. Perfect for singles, those who stays in PG/hostel and nearby office goers.

The ambiance here is.. It is not their intention to draw customers as their main source of income is corporate Tiffin service. . Having said that, the food is just amazing. I have not had anything like this at 100 rupees anywhere else in Bangalore. I'm glad I found this place and I have become a regular here.
Moovika Nanjappa
Good North Indian home made food. It's been there for many years. They give home delivery as well.. Blessing for working people who are looking to eat home made food on a daily basis.
Rituraj Singh
It does go with its name , so I am not sure if everybody would want to eat there because you are in Udaipur mostly as visitor and would love to taste bahaar ka khana
Rahul Panwar
Delicious food at affordable price. You'll get garam garam roti with varieties of sabji. If you love north Indian food then you should must visit.
rajagopalan sadagopan
takes you back home :) nice home made food feel. Diff menu options price wise. budget hotel. Good option for regular visits for koramangala-ites.

Ghar Ka Khana is a restaurant that serves North Indian cuisine. The place is in Koramangala and it is simple and very basic. Food is not exactly like home cooked food but it has a similarity because of the nature of regular North Indian food cooked in households. Their buffet thali is good for regular eaters. I haven't tried their Dal Baati yet.
Ambience is very basic and it is a place to have simple food everyday.
Sreedhar
Always loved the unlimited buffet thali for the homely taste, the way rotis served hot with ghee as we eat, and their attitude towards filling our tummy.
Vaishnavi M
there was bhindi given in description but got both brinjals..the quantity was good but quality wasn't upto the mark.. on the other hand buttermilk was the best..
Surya Pandey
order didn't deliver on time.
Abhilasha Sharma
it took almost 2 hours to deliver the food, which was also not cooked properly. disappointed

Yes it tastes like ghar ka khana. The Ambience is not something to talk about but the price is very cheap and that is what makes this place a worth visit.
Ankit Singh
Have fully justified the name "Ghar Ka Khana".
Though not a very posh restaurant but its food that matters, been here only couple of times but liked yhe fresh and simple food of this restaurant.

As name says Ghar Ka Khana then I would say yes it is.. This place is in Koramangala 1st Block.. Ambience is OK.. Simple.. Quality of food is good.. Taste is good.. Service is good.. Here you will get full Thali.. Half Thali like full meal nd half meal with Different price.. where in you will get 3 Rotis.. Half Sabzi.. Half DAL.. Half rice.. Pickle nd salad in 60/- but they don't give papad so I have requested them to add papad in mini meal
Subhanjan Sahu
No taste of homely food. Very pale food and the taste of food is very similar to that of train. Very disappointing as per the name at least food should taste like one.
Rakshitha
Full value for money... They have an unlimited option of food just pay 110 for a thali and eat as much as you want.. I went with my friends and we had a great time. But I am sure they will be wondering where these rakshas came from... The food was fresh, the taste was good.. love the paratta... Must try.
Gopi Krishnan
Nice tasty food just like its prepared at home. Unlimited food in such a cheap price is unbelievable. Love their hospitality.
Love the garam garam roti and sabzi.
Anonymous
The menu shown on zomato is not in this food joint.
They offer "buffet" 2 sabzi, roti and rice unlimited.
Dal (need to buy separately). Any other sabzi ( need to buy separately).
Funniest place ever came across.
ArJun Prakash
I always liked this place for a casual North Indian lunch in which they serve hot fulkas..with varieties of sabji.. Homely food.... Quantity is less... But amazing and unique food items that led my days in peace.... U get lassi too sometimes... Kaddi is a must try...
Skand Verma
I ordered gobi paratha which is served with curd. Taste was just okay. Nothing great. But the thing I like most about Ghar ka khana... I didn't find it too oily or pre-cooked, etc.
Pocket friendly. Value for money when it comes to 3 king size paratha for Rs.85/- :)

Overall:
Taste : 3/5;

Service 3.5/5;

Wallet : 4/5;
Suneet Shukla
good food with good quantity,, no many option but worth all money

If you are looking for pure north indian homely food. go there..
Khushbu Parakh
I went yesterday. I expect the food to be good. I ordered paneer butter masala and it was worst paneer butter masala I ever had. Service was good and quick. I like the aloo parante though it was tasty. I took the cab to reach the place and it didn't come out to be worthyStaff behavior was good, though.

If you have enough time to waste like 30min then go for it.When I ordered my meal I was only one person present in that Restaurant moreover they took 30min.LOL
As it's getting too late when I paid bill ,I came to know that they gave me wrong order. For that I have to pay extra.[basically depending upon their mood they will charge]
Staffs behavior-4/5
Food quality-3.5/5
Pro tip-please ensure that you remember all the items name with price.
Jay Rambhia
This place was my savior when I didn't have any arrangements for my lunch and dinner. As the name suggests, food is quite homely. No extra oil, spices or other stuff. They have a small menu and give a lot of food. Worth every penny.
Sameer Koralli
Its a mess like place. Ambience-Can sit there till you gulp down your food. But the best thing about the place are the garma garam phulkas. Soft and go very well with the daily changing sabjis. Have visited twice and has been consistent with the taste both the times.

Deepa Bomma
Reasons to Go !
1.Only If u have loads of money to waste.

Reasons to say No !
1.Food taste's pathetic,
2.Very bad service ,and most uncomfortable environment (service guys keep stairing at you and how much you eat)
3.Worst Ambiance
4.Money minded owner and least bothered about if customer is happy or not.

All in one is please don't waste your money here .
NIKHIL
This place is not that hygienic as most of us would like. But, if shun this, you can get almost the 'ghar ka khana' aplenty for the fixed price (thalis).
You will definitely stumble upon the thought that even you could start such a joint.
Antriksh
Extremely poor experience. The people do not serve the said order. Shameless people there. Will never visit again. Overall they were not customer friendly and lost me as customer just because of behavior. Food was good though
Rishikanth Somayaji
The food is yummm!!! very authentic and very tasty stuff. All times I go there, I go for the full meals...the staff are very cordial and nice and its all great. Its a tiny place, so if its gets crowded it gets steamy. But the major issue I have is with the hygiene, we faced some bed bugs all around where me and my friends sat and that kinda was a buzz kill. I don't expect the place to have a 5 star ambiance but I would least expect not to have any issues like these. Really wish they could fix this place up just in that regard.
Asha
We ordered from the list of items that were listed as available and made the payment too. Without calling us or checking with us about alternatives the restaurant just rejected the order and mentioned that some items that we ordered were out of stock. We suggest that the restaurant at least call up and check before rejecting the order outright.
Rohit Musaddi
Lack of professionalism.
Often been served cold food.
would not recommend.
Staffs are generally disinterested in serving you.
Food is ok otherwise.
Sweta Chatterjee
Homely taste food. Very tiny place for sitting. Helpful staffs are there. We ordered two lite meals and both one was good. Pure veg meals. Ambiance is OK type and clean also.
Arpit Goyal
While my 2 month's stay in Bangalore, almost everyday I ate my lunch at Ghar ka khana, they offer 2-3 thali at lunch time, served fast and tastes good, also economical.

Have an ongoing project in Koramangala and was looking for some home made food. Went there Friday night around 9 pm

POPULARITY INDEX
Low. Only one other table occupied

AMBIENCE
Upstairs No frills basic mess. Light open airy lots of windows but very noisy due to traffic on main road. I would encourage the owner to play some nice soothing music which will not only enhance the atmosphere but baffle the traffic outside.

SERVICE
Quick efficient friendly. Attentive and quick on refills

CLEANLINESS
High standards Neat Clean hygienic. Even the servers wore plastic caps which is something I have not seen even in fine dining places.

FOOD
Ordered their unlimited thali for rs rs 100. Cones with 2 subzis. One was aloo methi other soya matter curry. You can choose between phulka and paratha. I opted for full rice. Came with some salad onion cucumber, green chutney and pickle. Yellow dal and Gulab jamun.
FARSAN
Packaged ready to fry chips. Avoidable. They would be better off giving a nice roasted papad.
ALOO METHI
Dry cooked with jeera and Rai tadka. More aloo less methi. Tasty guju style but lacked authentic guju taste
SOYA MUTTER
North Indian Onion tomato gravy. Very tasty
DAL
Yellow Tur dal in tomato base with jeera rai tadka. Tasty but lacked true guju flavor. No methi seeds no curry leaves. Lacking ginger garlic flavor and fresh dhania leaves.
RICE
Only plain rice. I recommend they add their famous guju moong dal KHICHDI as an option.
CHUTNEY PICKLES
Grèen fresh chutney and fresh lemon pickles. Tasty Nice
GULAB JAMUN
Two small pieces. Good flavor nothing exceptional.
Overall Good tasty fresh home style food

SUMMARY
Clean home style tasty ekdam paisa vasool meal run by a Guju gentleman Himanshu. With a few improvements in food quality could do much better business.
Had ordered their Thursday special. That's 5 phulkas, rice, pav bhaji, dal, aloo bhindi and sweet, papad and pickle! Their packaging was pretty good. The taste was decent and worth the price. Should try this place once when you can.
Nameesh (Fodyssey)
This restaurant has been there on my wishlist since nearly 1-2 week. I initially tried calling them to find out about the items were available almost at the fag end of the day. The kitchen was closing as it was quite late. But I still had it bookmarked and finally got a chance to visit the place. As they say sometimes if you do wait, you may something really good. I guess this one such good place.

Location
If you are coming from Sony World Signal area, take road that goes towards Sarjapur Road. Take the signal after the ‘Swati Maharaja’ hotel signal. Drive along until you get the next signal and then take a left. This is a small restaurant which comes after Lazeez and before Café Thulp in the same direction.

First Look
It’s a very simple home converted to house kind of restaurant. I heard the folks tell that its been nearly 2-3 years since its been opened. Wonder why I haven’t gone there since so many years.
The entrance looks quite narrow, its basically small steps that leads to the restaurant on the 1st floor. There are actually 2 different rooms where we can sit and have food. It has concept more like a dhaba. The kitchen is present in the floor above the main entrance area.
They have the list of items being served for dinner written on a white board.

Food
Plain Parantha
This is one of the really good items that I had from the restaurant. The Parantha is more like a wheat parantha coz there is no hint of maida or any other item. You could feel the aata taste when you would take the parantha withouth subji.

Phulka
A very simple dry roti which has no hint of oil in it. Phulka was quite soft and went along very well with the subji & daal.

Muttor Paneer Masala
This was a gravy dish which had a great flavor and taste to it. The subji had quite a few of onion pieces on top, which I think was intentionally done to enhance the flavor.

Daal Fry
This was just decent. Thought that the daal could have been more thcker. I also observed that there were many raw pieces of daal inside.

Peas Pulav
A pretty decent Rice Bath which was not large in quantity but just right. The only thing I thought was that the rice wasn’t pretty soft. It seemed to be more like a boiled rice. I think the quality of rice is compromised for the price that is being offered for.

Mixed Veg Raita
A decent Raita but the only problem was that there were quite a few chilly pieces. I don’t know where they would actually put chilly in raita when prepared at home. That ingredient in a raita can be avoided. Its like places where they put chilly in the curd-rice, I wonder why that is done.

Apart from the food, they also served me some pieces of cucumber and tomato as salad which was pretty good. Coz the place is quite a cost effective place but then they tried to squeeze in all of these items as well.

Overall the place is pretty decent with good food. There are few things that can be improved. So, my rating for this place would be 3.5/5. Hopefully I would get to see few changes in the daal and also bit on the raita, the rating might go up. Infact, I am yet to try their sweet and the juices ☺

My rating in other departments would be –
Food – 3.5/5
Service – 3.5/5
Ambiance – 3.0/5
VFM – 3.5/5

Food for 2 would cost anywhere between INR200-500.

The name is inappropriate. I didn't like a thing about this place. The ambience, the food and the staff were all disappointing. I am still giving it 1.5 since the food fulfilled my hunger for that night. I had no option left since that day I had to eat veg and it was 11pm and I didn't have any option. I thought the food would be tasty but the name of the restaurant and the food don't go hand in hand.
Nitin
Not good, it was just near to my place so i used to end up here every another day.

Value for money, delievery options is also available
Tilak Kamath
Didn't like it at all. I ordered a home delivery option and when I received the food it was all leaky and one dish mixed up with another. Pretty nasty to taste too as I felt the dal kichdi to be stale! I wouldn't have it again from GKK!
Sounak Ghosh
As the name says ... It's a relief from the junk .. I was very near to my house when I stayed in Kormangala , I went there very frequently , it's a place U can eat almost everyday ... The food is hygienic as well as tasty ... Note a fancy restaurants but life saving ...
Supriya Rathi
This is the place for someone who eats out daily and wants to avoid junk. Get good variety of curries and rotis. Curries taste homely, but sometimes a little salty. Good options in thali too. Thali costs between Rs.89 - 110.
One pack of curry ( Aaloo, Rajma, Kofta etc) costs hardly 35-40 bucks and is good for two.
Eatist
Simple, no fuss North Indian food...the place is aimed at people who do not care for the ambience but want decent food...they have various different combination of thali's and other items...
The food tastes decent and the portions are also quiet ok..
They can definitely work on their ambience and at least work on the staircase that leads to the restaurant.
Have always chosen dine in over delivery since they take a hell a lot of time to deliver. So it's just better to just walk it down...
Eshan
4.5 rating point for the simple fact that you do not easily get good food at 90 bucks these days.. Yup, no doubt this place is what the name says "ghar ka khana". Very simple food and quality is also good.. Don't get that feeling that since it is not costly it won't be good. I had the buffet there at 90 bucks. You can have fulka or paratha + 3 sabzi / dal + salad + papad + pickle + sweets... Worth a visit when u feel like having good food light on stomach and pocket...
Kaustav Basu
As the name suggests... You get simple, basic North Indian thali here at a great price. The best part is it's unlimited. For bachelors living around Koramangala, this is a perfect place for daily food. Please don't expect an ambiance or great service here. This is a pure value for money place where you get good food for the money you are paying, that's all. They have a daily menu so you don't have option to choose however in their daily thali menu you'll get satisfactory food options that justifies the bill.
Shrikant Bhavsar
Although a pocket friendly place, they don't compromise on quality. Delicious food, lassi, chhaj is nice. Parathas are crispy; when served with any hot curry tastes awesome.
Vinod Gandhi
Just coz our cook was on leave, tried to explore this place

A regular but good full meal with healthy food..

Buttermilk and rayta was good
Lalith Gudipati
Probably one of the best value for money places you can find in the whole of bangalore. The ambience of the place is below average, in spite of lowering your expectations as this place is a budget treat.

The thali's are the highlight. Only vegetarian food though, but the food is authentic north indian and something you should not miss. The service is prompt and very friendly.

Overall, a must go place - best value for money, finger licking good food, excellent service and below par ambience.
Shuvo Bhattacharyya
As the name suggests , it is a home food. Very simple and delicious taste of the food. They play old hindi movies at their place just reminds me of the frens place in child hood when we use to gather together to watch dharmendre movies.

You will defiantly find yourself back to this place.
Shadowfax
Very Simple place.

But it really reminds me of my home food. When ever you are tired of fancy food just want to enrich your taste buds with simple home made food, this is the place for you.

I love phulka here, i love the concept of serving bundi as sweet (My Favorite).

Just try it out, you will go again and again and again.
Ashish Chouhan
Good taste. Had dal bati , not so bad. They provide Dal Bari every sat sun. Price is affordable. Good place for budget lunch NAD dinner. Must try once.
Ashutosh Sharma
Value for money. I have been going to this place for 1 year now. If you are loking for some simple, hygienic and low budget "ghar ka" food, then this is the right place for you. They also pack your food quite well for take aways. Having said that, do not try the unlimited thali, as the quality drops drastically in that section. You can go for the "lite meal" they serve here.

My only complain to them is that they do not serve food out of 1 km radius.
Abhinav Ramana
This place serves good healthy food at great price. Their thali is quite good and they change menu everyday. Not open on Sundays evening though. I have been there and also got food delivered. But the packing is not good and hence the food gets cold. Suggest to go there to eat.
Bhavana Vijay
Ghar ka khana is a stable regular go to lunch/dinner place, Where you can have relatively healthy food at a cheap price. The taste is like 'ghar ka khana'. The people there are very friendly. They also deliver Thalis home.
Paramjit Singh
Worst place that I have ever been.
No service is provided. Lazy employees .
I suggest you people not to go by-mistakely also. "Bhulke math jana" Rating is in minus (-)
