Review Shiv Sagar - Bengaluru

Ganesh P
I have been going here since many years. Pure veg restaurant. They offer a variety of dishes. They have North Indian, South indian, Chinese, Mexican etc. I like their north indian dishes and also they offer good icecreams especially they sizzling brownie or the strawberry icecream is very good. You can also try enchiladas. Ambience is not great, u may find it difficult to park near by. Service is ok.
saurav rijal
I have tried Veg Fried Noodles and Cheese Dosa... I found it very tasty and would like to suggest everyone to have it. Reasonable price. Perfect taste.
Shreyosi Biswas
It's a nice place , the food is good , but they make a wait a lot ....
Akash Jatangi
Food is extremely tasty and service is pretty good. Tends to get crowded on weekends and ambience can improve.
himanshu mehta
Awesome place to dine with family and friends. Great ambience and decent service. Food makes up for what's lacking in furniture. Deserts are good. Recommend for families and group of friends. Overall the meal was satisfying and memorable. Made a lot of memories to cherish😊
akhilesh danda
Good food, service isn't always very good (especially during rush hour). North Indian food is better than most places. Would suggest trying their Mexican dishes (enchiladas in particular). Brownie sizzler is good as well. A bit on the expensive side.
Bhavya Gumaste
Decent restaurant. During sitapal season sitapal special icecream is a must try here

This restaurant never disappoints me. Consistency in quality, outstanding service and damn good price makes this restaurant uniquely top. Generally I drop here whenever I miss Vidyarthi Bhavan (in timings) or whenever I bring my parents or family for dinner. From past 3 years this restaurant has reserved the same flavor and professional service system. This restaurant has both AC & Non AC service area with a large space and good seating capacity. You can enter this restaurant with the confidence of getting seat at any point of time. FOOD: Quality of food is always appreciable. They serve everything hot and crispy. Unique thing about this restaurant is you can order chinese at any point of time even along with your breakfast. I have tried both north Indian and south Indian and found both good. SERVICE: You might experience little slow service by the waiters however it's negligible. Everyone in the restaurant behave professionally and seems like experienced. EVERYTHING ELSE: Washrooms are of average, parking is pretty difficult for any kind of vehicle. FINAL VERDICT: It will surely give you delightful experience being lite on your pocket at the same time.

Shiv Sagar is a great restaurant with a great food. Service is good here. Food is delicious and yummy. Landed accidentally to RS Shiv Sagar and to my surprise it was a very good restaurant. Very good ambiance and tasty food. I ordered paneer shashlik sizzler and it was good. Overall a very good place for vegetarian people. I found that rate was reasonable.
Abhishek Bhanukumar
Great place to meet family. The sizzler ice cream with chocolate is the best.
Mahaveer Nagori
It's a decent vegetarian restaurant in Gandhi Bazaar. Interior and furniture is old but the food is amazing. Shiv Sagar chain of restaurants are one of the best in serving North Indian food..
Dilip Jain
Nice North Indian and South Indian dishes... Reasonably priced, quick service and great value for money... Is crowded at times and expect waiting during the weekends... Not a place for fine dining. Very noisy during busy hours
tushara c.k
Absolute favourite this one. The food is very good. Specifically north indian cuisine. The only complaint I have is that the chairs/sofa are too old and old stains are visible.
Nagaraj M S
One of the good restaurant for North Indian food. Every time better than before . Keep it up. Problem is waiting time in between orders. Rest everything good , neat and cleanly maintained.

Tejas Lokanathan
Food wasn't too oily nor spicy, taste was good.

I liked their variety of dosa's, nowadays they are not delivering dosa's anymore, it's not listed in the menu either (in the app).
Aaditya Verma
Great taste as always
Jyotiprakash Madhyastha

This has been my most favorite restaurant for punjabi food 15 years back as city was lacking good punjabi food restaurants that time. Though I used to visit their commercial street branch only. First time visited this basavanagudi branch and it reminded me old taste. Still great food.
I had rava idly and rava masala dosa.
Rava idly is as fantastic as you normally find in Bangalore but rava dosa was awesome. It was spicy so I liked it more.
Aditya Belavady
Visited this restaurant with family. Restaurant wasn't overcrowded due to the festive season. However, I have always seen this restaurant being over crowded which is a testament to the quality of food.

We ordered baby corn chilli, kaju masala, veg pepper masala and rotis. All dishes were extremely tasty and served promptly. Probably would have taken a little more time on a normal day. Quality and taste of food is top notch. Wasn't too oily or over spiced. Just apt for the tastebuds to enjoy a sumptuous meal.

They haven't tweaked the interiors too much, considering it to be a very old restaurant. It retains that charm to some extent.

Overall a very satisfying experience with very tasty veg food.
Prerana Prasad
An okay restaurant. Service time sometimes gets too long. Lost its charm now. Babycorn manchurian and falooda are very good. Chats are also good and also dosas but can improve in North Indian gravies
Ganesh C Mallaiah
For snacks time it's right place for dosa items their chaats too good and well spiced. I had visited second time this place not disappointed at all quick service with same tasty dosa must try dessert is sizzling brownie with ice cream.

Mikhil M Shah
Staff is pathetic. And service is really very bad I think none of the staff are well trained . Ambience is also pathetic . This place is running only because of the food I guess . I would never come here .
Partha
First of all I don't even want to give 1 star giving it because there is no better low score. Ended up in waiting list for 2 hours and finally when we got ourselves the table we were told all the items were available and the waiter ended up telling us half of our order was not available after making us wait again there for 20min. So basically the service there sucks to the core. Worst service I have been too till now.
Rahul Jain
Located in A prime location in Gandhi Bazaar
makes it always crowded. Food is No doubt tasty with fast service. Would prefer going on weekdays.
Roshan.marlecha
Used to be a good place earlier, but nowadays have seen the service has gone down, soup was served cold, noodles cold, food taste was good but service wise not happy, dear shiv sagar hope u r listening......
Beena Ravi
For veg lovers this place is really good. Gandhibazaar has lots of veg restaurants. This one is among the tasty ones. The menu provides a lot of varieties. Very yum North Indian food. Tasty starters. If your cross by this area, do try out this place. 😊

I wanted to try Shiv Sagar as i loved the branch in commercial street. But unfortunately it's nothing like commercial street branch. As soon as I entered the restaurant vibration was a complete off. It looks shabby and the sofas are screaming for a change or a good clean. We first sat in AC hall but there was no one to attend and it looked equally shady! To add to this trauma the person who serves are rude and least bothered about customers need.
We ordered Masala Dosa(only good food), Bhel Puri(very dry), Sev Puri (made well) , Pav Bajji(don't even bother!) , Spring rolls(Oily and very soggy) , Sizzling Brownie (Ok) and Red Pasta (made like Indian version but a bad one)
I would not go back to Shiv Sagar nor recommend to others.
Sahana Bangli
Whenever I drop into Gandhi Bazar with my bestie at unusual timings this is where I end up almost every time!

They have decent seatings with AC and Non-Ac. It gets filled during lunch times and need to wait.

They have a vast menu to supress all the Bengalureans hunger needs - South Indian, North Indian, Chinese, Chaats & Sundaes. They are famous for Chaats and South Indian breakfast items like idli, dosa etc.

I have tried various dosas like rava dosa, neer dosa, masala dosa etc. Handi Pav Bhaji is something new we tried recently and it was not so great but okayish!

For our Chinese cravings we ordered Babycorn Munchurian and Veg Schezwan Noodles which didn't contain any Chinese flavor at all and tasted just average. Hence Chinese foods are not recommended here!

Must try :
Sizzling Brownie - No doubt I always think of it as soon as I enter Shiv Sagar😋 Brownie with Vanilla Ice cream and hot sizzling chocolate sauce poured on it. Anyone would fall for it absolutely!

For easy South Indian hunger solutions I would visit this place anytime given and also try some more items.
Akash K S
A nice restaurant with a decent ambiance to spend the evening with family. I liked the onion rings there very much and it is famous for it's sizzler brownie. They have friendly staff and the pricing is decent.
Sanjana
I go here only to have brownie sizzlers a must try at this place. Visit wen ur around u can also taste chats i like sev puri, it's a descent dining restaurant.
Apoorva
For few years this outlet maintained cleanliness and quality. Now it’s not up to the mark. Though the menu is vast. Their idly manchurian is my all time favourite. Most of their dishes are pretty good.
Seasonal fresh fruit with Ice creams are really good.
Weekends or not, it’s crowded.
Ananth K
A good place who are looking for veg food the food is tasty and staff here are courteous book your table if you are visiting in weekends since there will be waiting so if you are around Gandhi Bazar don't miss this place they have a range of north and south combinations
Tejas Ravi
An average restuarant with overpriced rates. It felt like any other 'UD' restaurant when i tasted their gobhi manchurian. If you want the exact same manchurian for a cheaper price , a 2min walk to ice ice thunder is convinient.
Ritesh Agarwal
One of the tastiest food available in Bangalore for a North Indian lover. Don't try to play with your order, start with Masala Papad, order 2-3 curries, 1 Dal, roti of your choice, ending with fried rice, and a soda or thums up to go with it, we sit and dine or take away at least 5 times in a month from this place (Close By our home).

The Ambience is not great, but the service and staffs are attentive. One of the place to have your hunger sorted out and come out fully satisfied.
Sumit Chopra
There are cats , kittens, rats , insects everywhere in the restaurant and then we have the manager come up and say " what is there in this" this is a common over here. I mean when the manager can say this is I am sure no else out there will be bothered.. In case you want to dine with cats , kittens and rats you should head to this place.. All the best..
Megha
Though its a very popular outlet, I dont really like the place because of the service and quality of food. You can probably step in when you really hungry and dont care much about the taste and hygiene .
They have a lot variety to offer.
Khushbu
This restaurant has been there for years now, and we ve been eating here for equal number of yrs. Since its old, d interiors n ambience is basic. But d food tastes d same over all these yrs. Since its crowded most of the time, we place our takeaway orders on phone,,n pick it wen ready,so no need to wait.U get Chinese,South,North,Chaats..etc. Everything in this place is tasty. Prices are reasonable too,not too expensive like its other branches. If ur in gandhibazar, tired n hungry, then do head here for a satisfying meal.
Gurunandan N
If you've come shopping for flowers early in the morning to Gandhi bazaar(or for whatever :P ), this is the place you need to be for breakfast.

We had a simple breakfast. Set dosa,Rava dosa, puri and ended it with coffee. Set dosa was thick, "if-you-lift-it-it-will-tear" soft (😋),a must try. The other two were good as well.

Don't forget to try the triple schezwan fried rice during the evenings.

Quantity is good. The service is fast. Prices are low. Will frequent.
Hansa
It's one of the few places we go to when we want good chaats. They have a good variety of food, and the Dahi puri here is yummm!
The Biryani is average.
Decent ambience for a restaurant. But it's usually very crowded so there usually is a waiting time. But good place with good food.
Ankitha Surana
This was one of my favourite restaurant located in Gandhi bazaar. This restaurant is veryyy crowed on weekends.. There is too much of waiting which is very irritating.. Food here is very tasty must try Spinach manchurian and brownie sizzlers which is worth eating here.. Ambience is not that great! A family type restaurant :)
Divya Shukla
It's the worst branch of this chain.. Commercial street branch is far better in terms of food quality and ambience. We went on a Sunday afternoon for food and had a disappointing experience..We ordered cream of mushroom soup..It had just cornflour nothing else..Gobi Manchurian was very salty..Dal makhani had lots of Curry leaves..Only Royal falooda was good..It was hot and smoky.. Awful..

I have visited a lot of Shanti Sagars, Shiv Sagars, Krishna Sagars and all their 'New'er versions and the one main problem with them all is their questionable hygiene.

The Shiv Sagar on Gandhi bazar road is however completely different. It is a nice place for a sanity dinner and is not even heavy on your pocket.

Their thali is good. So are the North Indian curries with Indian breads.

It is one of my favourite food joins in neighbourhood where I end up going every now and then.

Food - 3.5
Value for money - 3.5
Service - 3
Ambiance - 2

I'm a regular customer here, and their tomato soup be the best! They have tasty starters and great north Indian thali. They always keep up their quality of food.

Ratings out of 10-

1.Cost-8.5/10
2.Ambience-7/10
3.Service-8/10
4.Food-7.5/10
5.Overall-8/10

Location:
This restaurant is located at the end of the Gandhi Bazaar road in Basavanagudi. There many other eateries like Roti Ghar, Vidyarthi Bhavan, A2B, etc. that are around this restaurant's perimeter. The road is bustling all time, everytime and hence it is kind of hard to find a parking place in this area, but other than that, great location. This restaurant is definitely giving competition to other restaurants in the locality.

Service:
This aspect of the restaurant is good. The waiter had taken our desired order and had served the dishes to us fairly quickly. All dishes were served at the same time except for the sandwich, but this isn't a big issue. Other than that, there was absolutely no problem in the service.
All in all, a pretty efficient service I would say.

Ambiance:
There isn't much to talk about this restaurant in terms of ambiance. The décor, lighting and interiors are ok, white walled along with some art on it. There are sufficient chairs and tables to sit on, but I'm sure this place must be jam-packed during the evening time, especially during weekends which is the peak time for culinary demand. Hence, I would suggest to book in advance for lunch or dinner.
In totality, a decent ambiance.

Food:
We had come to this place for breakfast in the morning and it was pretty empty (lucky for us), but eventually customers began to pore in. Pretty rustic, wholesome, tasty and sumptuous food is served here I would say. Quality and quantity is not an issue here for the amount they charge us. All food items served here are great and the drinks are pretty cooling and refreshing.

We had:
*Masala Dosa
*Cheese Masala Dosa
*Idly Vada
*Dahi Vada
*Veg Cheese Grill Toast Sandwich
*Moosambi juice
*Chocolate milkshake

Thumbs Ups:
*Location
*Cost
*Food

Thumbs Downs:
*Parking space problem

Overall, my experience in RS Shiv Sagar in Basavanagudi has been splendid.
Sahadev Chincholikar
This is one of those places where you may not even think of having Continental/Mexican Food, but trust me, they serve excellent Continental/Mexican Food like Spinach au Gratin, Vegetable au Gratin, French Onion Soup & so on.

Their food in general, including Chinese items like Fried Rice is excellent apart from the standard South & North Indian Fare. Do try their Onion Rings too!

Have been to this place countless number of times..... The best place for north Indian food in the area.... Sizzler and white sauce pasta are my favorites.....
Kattashardhul
Just came back from that place! It's a great family restaurant. Brilliant North Indian food! Hot food served even at 11. Good ambience! Definitely a treat for its price. Definitely a savior for late night diners!
Arjun Harish
This restaurant is in Gandhi Bazar. There is no parking facility. We usually go to this place as it is very close to my house. There is always some waiting to be done. Food is decent but not great. They have all cuisines available nothing very authentic though. Chocolate sizzler is a must try
Ishu Verma
A good place for families. The ambience is good & cozy, the service is quick & the quantity served is good as for the price. Any mini meal is enough for a person who follows a normal diet. Don't expect any spicy North Indian twists here.
Sahana Murthy
A perfect place for families, friends and groups to have a great meal after a walk in busy street of Gandhi bazaar. They have other outlets in different places as well which is well established.

Ambience is good nothing great about it in this particular branch. Service is pretty bad. Just for the starter we waited for 25 mins.

Food tastes really good. We ordered tomato soup, baby corn Manchurian, fried rice, roti and matar paneer gravy. You should wait for 20 mins for each item which is bad.

All the above mentioned items were really good and filling. Baby corn Manchurian was crispy and tasty. Fried rice was done well. The gravy was cooked well and really good.

Cleanliness can be improved and service should be prompt and the stewards should respect the customers and treat them well!
Ajay Kumar
We had been here and the waiters are very rude, unprofessional and even for coffee they will take 20 to 30 minutes.

Better management has to look into this...
Prashant Hiremath
Good restaurant to try for breakfast/lunch/evening snacks/dinner. I feel food taste degraded over time. Chats are good here. Soups and north Indian dishes are okey type.
Arnav Jaithalya
A very busy Restaurants,No matter what Day or time you visit.
Dosas are pretty good & Sambhar is way better than The other Places in Baswangudi-Gandhi bazaar serve.
Chaats were not bad either.
The menu is Huge & They serve Continental, Mexican & what not.
Most of the things on the menu are cheap.
Aanchal Singhvi
They tried serving spilt food until I asked them about it. One of the waiter was not ready to accept his mistake. Instead of apologizing, he started to argue. The manager did not take any action. How are we supposed to trust one of the very reputed restaurant back?
Apsara
A place for good food. Don't expect ambience. It's a very crowded place. Slow service only for North Indian menu. But they give starters and South Indian food quickly. When you're terribly hungry, you may need to start up with some South Indian food or a Manchurian. We had rava dosa, paneer manchurian, kulcha and vegetable kofta. Food was filling our hunger.
Roshni Arun
A family restaurant that has been around for quite sometime and is located in basavanagudi. It has an ac and a non-ac seating available. The place has a decent decor and seating options available. The service isn't great though.
Italian and mexican dishes, Chats, South Indian and North Indian are available. The spanish manchurian, Italian pastas and the brownie sizzler are my favorites here. Also, the mushroom and bamboo shoot soup is amazing. Do try these :) The Special North Indian thali is also a good option for lunch. On my last visit, we tried the rava idly, and the South Indian thali. The rava idly tasted good but wasn't cooked perfectly. It was raw in the middle. The meal tasted really good. I also had the mexican rice and tasted fine. :) Overall, a decent place to have a meal. :)

After almost 5 years I visited this restaurant again.

They have changed the menu card, it not as exhaustive as before - looks Good!
Tried North Indian today! Happy but little disappointed.

Tomato Soup tasted good, didnt require any additional salt or pepper. Masala papad tasted normal(good but not the best!). Presentation of soup and masala papad was normal. They serve soup with steel spoon, which I wouldnt call a right choice for consuming hot soup! Hope they change it to usual thick plastic spoon.

We tried Veg roast(Fried) for starters and this is where disappointment happened. I felt it had too much ginger in it and tasted little tangy. All veggies were not properly coated with batter and no effort was made for presentation.
When asked about this starter, they said batter is made by grinding ginger and curry leaves(Not sure whether this is a good combination for a batter)- hence sourness.
They were kind enough to offer for cancelling this dish and order something else.

We took "hara bara kabab". Presentation was decent enough - round shaped patties overlapping each other at the edges arranged horizontally siding with mint chutnee, Looked burnt but tasted good.

For the main course we ordered cashew masala and kulcha's. Cashew masala was served in a steel bowl where outside coated with 3/4th copper. Kulcha's was not cut in half and was served like a full chapati. We ordered 2 extra kulcha's again and now it was made into 4 pieces showing they had forgot to do the same before.

Kaju Masala tasted good, gravy comes a little on the sweet side as it has cream and butter. Kulcha was soft & tender, little burnt over the edges.

Hope to try some south Indian next time.

Regarding service, they lack attention to per table.
Ambience is quite decent, in between a fast food and the fine dine.
presentation - 3/5
Food - 4/5
Quality - 3.5/5
Service - 3/5
Ambience - 3/5
Value for Money - 3.5/5

My sixth or seventh visit here! It's a constant place for me for good food! Coming from a college very close this place is famous in gandhibazar! Apart from the many other only veg restaurants here this place is decent with required ambience. The service here is just like another normal restaurant nothing to complain about! Have had a lot of things here before but my recommendation is paneer Manchurian, Chinese bhel and paneer sabzi !
Ashwin Mehta
Veg restaurant on busy Gandhi bazaar from one of best veg chain of restaurant RS group
Food 5*
Location 4*
Ambiance 3*
Value for money place
(for my foodie friends rating this place 2.5 n 3 note- itsnot a fine dine restaurant )

This place is always crowded but that's not the problem. The problem is with the increasing crowd they failed to maintain the Shiv sagar standards. Terrible taste and pathetic service. Tables are not cleaned properly, making you feel like you're sitting in a roadside dhaba. The presentation of the food served is equally bad. The sides of the plates are dripping with cheese, ketchup or curries depending on what you ordered. I wonder it being part of the shiv sagar- comm street and mantri square group how can the food here taste so bad.
Sunil
I have only been to this place once. Most people I spoke to, had a positive opinion about this place, so I decided to giber it a try.. It was quite a while back. Hence, the review may not be complete accurate if things have changed drastically.

The place is usually quite crowded, and the service is painfully slow. The ambiance is decent enough, though. the quality of food is mediocre, although the prices are on the lower side. I tried some North Indian dishes. Not very appealing, to be honest.

I may still come here again to try other dishes, but as of now, I have mixed opinions about this restaurant.

Food - 2.5/5
Ambiance - 3/5
Service - 2.5/5
Value for money - 4/5
Hygiene - 3.5/5
Overall - 3/5

This place is always busy and hustling whether week day or weekend....

You can ask for any cuisine and they will never say no..

Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Amercian or anything they have it all... They also serve Jain Food all time...

Your order will be served in the shortest time...if they don't do it then it will be worst,, food will never reach u...

The quality of serving has gone down drastically and it is worst day by day..

Hope the management looks into it..hope they improve...
Samhita Kishore
Visiting Shiv Sagar right after landing in India might not be the best idea anymore. This place was always my favorite for pav bhaji but I was disappointed this time.
We ordered masala papad which was good, Nachos which was a big disappointment and pav bhaji which wasn't the best either. The quality has dropped drastically.
Nevertheless, kadai paneer curry and roti remains unchanged.
About the service, they maintain good and quick service. The ambiance of the place is decent enough to drop by for a meal without expectations.
Overall, this restaurant is best suited to grab a meal with reasonable prices.

Food- 2.5/5
Service- 4/5
Price- 3.5/5
Quality- 2/5
Quantity- 3.5/5
Plating- 2/5

A chilly bangalore evening with mild showers for me a craving for something hot and spicy..
I tagged along with two friends of mine and Ordered pav bhaji, masala puri, tomato soup, gobi Manchurian and a masala dosa!!
Starting with the review one by one
1) masala puri- no spice,no flavor..mediocre masala and chutney lacked that flavor punch we look for in a chat
2)gobi Manchurian- it was average tasting wit the sauce not coating the cauliflower at all evenly
3)tomato soup- it was good...dint hav coloring agent so thumbs up
4) masala dosa- fantastic crisp dosa and a very tasty chutney
5) pav bhaji- here comes the surprising part..having eating at some iconic locations in Mumbai the pav bhaji's comparison benchmark was set pretty high..and when I got it my gosh I was surprised..
Fantastic bhaji..right amount of spice, flavorand great consistancy..this pav bhaji was in the top 5 I ve ever had...only bummer was the pav was not made properly...nevertheless...don't forget to order here..all these costed 450rs which s average I would say
Overall a good place fr a bite...

Shiv sagar is one of the largest food chain in Bangalore. Only a few of them serve good quality food. This one in Gandhi bazar is decent. The food is not that great all the time.
The ambience is okay, but the quality of food is very low. Once, there was a butter paper in my panner butter masala so be careful.
It's just a one time visit !
Poojitha Govardhan
I used to visit this place for lunch during college times but now I go there just for their brownie sizzler.

I am reviewing this restaurant only for that one favourite dish of mine.

I love brownies sizzlers and this place is the closest and the best so far. Icecream, fresh brownie and the consistency of the hot chocolate is so perfect that they melt and give me the perfect taste needed.

Ambience- 3/5
Taste of brownie sizzler - 5/5
Taste Otherwise 3/5
Service - 3/5
Price - 3/5

Service is bad, none to handle customers waiting to occupy the chairs, cleaning the table takes a longer time almost 10 minutes later after ordering food.
coming to the food taste some are really good some are bad..onion dosa is only filled with onions no trace of any chilies or any coriander.Sizzlers not as good as the sizzlers we get in typical sizzler restaurants, price value is high for the taste.
Mahima Koteshwar
One of the established family restaurants at basavanagudi and it's been since atleast 15 years and for a couple more at a different place and this is something all : grandpa ,mom ,dad ,uncle and friends like visiting this place for a quick meal. The food is quite decent here and they also serve mexican food apart from the south indian ,chaat, snacks, north Indian and Chinese and the cheese balls and enchiladas are also okay. The chaat is more to the south indian style and people who come here love it and so do I.
The pani puri I like and also the masala puri. They do a decent sev puri as well buy the puri is really huge and thick and difficult to eat them . Food feels fresh .
The brownie sizzler here is too sweet and the tray on which is served should cleaned much better as the scraps are seen and makes it unhygienic.
Overall,
Ambience -3
Staff -3
Service -3
Quantity -3.5
Quality -3.5
Taste -3.5
Hygiene -2.5
Plating -3
Pricing -4

I have lunch here because I work in a near place. I'm able to order two dishes with 150 Rp; very good price and quantity. Sometimes the service is a little bit slow, but the wait will pay you back.
I'm not vegetarian but this place convert me! The palak Dosa is amazing.
Shashank Rao
It's a bit expensive compared to some other restaurants in the locality but the food tastes really good. The restaurant serves some rich amazing exotic deserts which can be mouth watering.
Nitin Siva
A nice VEG restaurant for North Indian, South Indian, Indian Chinese and Mexican (Indian Version) Food.

Must try the Nachos, Mexican Rice, Dosa's and for Lunch try the South Indian meals.

Never miss the SIZZLING BROWNIE for the desert.
Suhas Manjunath
An good restaurant to dine Chinese/North Indian Cuisine. Most of my friends visit here to enjoy their served delicacies which completes weekend outings. Do visit this restaurant as it's Ambience, Service, Taste is good for the affordable price that you pay.
N R Yashas
South Indian, North indian, Chinese, Mexican, you'll almost get everything here... The Paneer Manchurian was brilliant, the enchiladas even though indianized were good. It is a must visit place !!
Priya Sriram
One of the best places for any indian food. For all "DOSA LOVERS".... The cheese palak toast ( with cheese and mashed spinach spread generously on one side of the entire disc) is something one should taste here. Whenever I visit Bangalore on a long stay I make sure I have at least one meal in Shiv Sagar and I opt for the cheese palak toast along with some other item from the menu.
Prerit Jain
This is one of the better places to have a meal in Basavaagudi. They have a large vegetarian menu and almost have everything that comes to mind.
I have visited this place on couple of occasions and both the times my experience was good. Once for breakfast and once for lunch. For breakfast, I had tried Chole Bhature and Rava Dosa along with tea. All of these were better than most places in Bangalore.

For lunch, we tried South Indian mini meal, South India deluxe meal and North Indian meal. In the North Indian meal, there was a soup and a sweet along with several curries, 2 varieties of rice(curd rice and biriyani ) and 2 tandoori rotis. Only issue was that curd rice and sambhar was also there in north indian meal but it all tasted good.

For south indian meals, the only difference in the two was the that one was limited and the other one wasn't and the deluxe one also had a mediocre tomato soup that was didn't seem right for the combination. The limited meal was pretty good and was very economical at 70 bucks.

Even desserts looked pretty good and other people seem to enjoy them a lot.

Although they have done considerable amount of price targeting which makes it difficult of predict the cost for 2 for a meal( north indian foods way more expensive than south indian), whatever you eat at this place will be pretty good.

This restaurant is located in the ever busy area of Gandhi Bazaar next to corporation bank / Opp. Adyar, Visited this place for Lunch with family.

After a long time, we decided to have the North Indian Special Thali.

The spread is pretty Good, with a couple of Veg Curries, 1 Paneer,1 Dal with Pulao & Curd rice. A sweet is also served with Butter Naan/ Kulcha.

So in all a pretty good combo for the priced paid, the food also tasted good.

We also tried the Sizzling Brownies which i would suggest a must to have at this location.

All the items are moderately priced, finding space for a car park can a bit of a troublesome job, but wort the pain taken to have food.

Located in the busy hustle bustle of gandhi bazaar main road.
Noteworthy for their attractive interiors and sophisticated ambiance,This place has created a niche for itself by serving piquant, delectable north indian, south indian and various other dishes at feasible prices.

I have been here with family and friends sundry times,to my surprise the quality and the zing has always remained the same.
Masala papad,Baby corn manchurian,Palak pattha chat, kadai mushroom are some of the must try here.
Service is fiffy with sporty staff, food arrives at the table almost in no time...

One can manage to get a seat any time and any day of the week without much waiting. Most preferable place when starving and no patience to wait long time for the food to arrive or to get a seat...
Overall a wonderful vicinity for good quality food...give it a whirl:):)

Location - Gandhi Bazaar main road. Opposite to Soho. Excellent location!
-I have been here many times & tried many items.
-almost all are of good quality & are priced appropriately. North dishes here are tastier than the south.
-the north meals although a bit costly than normal price, is worth it. Sweet tasted really good
- starters are just okay. Not that great!
- here again my complain would be serving time! They almost take 20 minutes to serve!
Go Veggie!
Reasonable priced restaurant on Gandhi bazaar main road which serves North Indian , South Indian , Mexican and chats .
I have been visiting this place for close to 6yrs for their north Indian delicacies and the food quality has remained good.
I personally like their Navarathna kurma ,Sizzling brownie and capsicum rings and chole bhatura .
This place needs improvement ambience wise.

Even with two rooms allocated for dining, you'd often find yourself waiting out for a table. That by itself, speaks for the place. One of the better places that serve good Gobi Manchurian. Very generous portions. Their Paneer Makhai is to DIE FOR. Cheese dosa is one of their specialties! And for someone who is used to having Tamil Nadu sambhar, this place wasn't a disappointment at all. Never once have I been disappointed. Always up for visiting. Nominal prices. Pretty good service. Ambiance isn't worth mentioning, but definitely not so bad. Would I recommend this place? ABSOLUTELY!

I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. If you are in the mood for some really good vegetarian food, head to this place..

Typical, Local restaurant. South Indian Breakfast is good. But when it comes to North Indian, its still ok ok... Chinese... :) be prepared for the New Indianised version of Chinese dishes.
This place is a joint for breakfast and may be perhaps for a quick lunch or dinner.

Don't even think of ordering food here. Don't even consider eating here. Worst place for dinner. Period. I'll explain.. Last Sunday night we went there for dinner. Horrible starters. We ordered babycorn munchuri and harabara kabab. Both tasted shit. It was not fried properly and we could taste the batter which was uncooked. Worst ambience and service. The manager is an arrogant little *******. This place should be banned for ripping off customers. The Butter nan lacked butter and the rubbery feel of it was not at all there, the butter nan was so thin that "paper thin" would be an understatement. You can also find roaches and ants in your dishes. They should probably change the name to "Insect Sagar". I'd rather starve than eat here.

Edit: This place is now renovated and the management seemed to have changed. The food is now excellent and I'd recommend it!

A regular daily eating joint. Pure veg food. Nothing to aaww about but surely tasty for the price. Regular orders of Panneer Chilly(find the Panneer really hard in this), Panneer Tikka masala, regular and butter rotis.

Liked: all food. Worth the price even for daily consumption.

Disliked: Soups. Err...can't just make out the taste.

Would visit for a quick bite without expectations for specialized taste.

Good place for vegetarians, this place has never gone down when it came to serve north Indian food. Its a bit difficult to get a seat on weekends, as it is crowded. But shiv sagar is always my first choice when it comes to a good family sitdown meal. Love their sizzling brownie. Good place, good food. Its a vegetarians delight!

I dont know why this place has such high rates on the menu card coz the food is absolutely normal as compared to the price. The ambience is good but not that apealing. Not complaining about the food though.. its just i din feel it was worth that cost.

Here's a quick dash review of Shiv Sagar (SS). Happened to be in the neighborhood of Gandhi Bazaar and we sneaked into SS for a quick bite. Usually we tend to visit here only because they have service with seating & also the other joints across Gandhi bazaar will always be full :-)

Orders: Rava Dosa, Two Samosa Masala
Cost : 201 rs

Two Samosa Masalas were good, nothing fancy. I prefer Green Peas with the Masala, however they used Chick Pea. Anyhow it did serve the purpose of hunger!!

Rava Dosa was bad!! The batter was undercooked and Oily. We did remember the dish being good few years back. Unfortunately as the time rolled on the quality has deteriorated

Overall decent place to go to when you're really hungry and no other option up your sleeve.

Regards,
Karthik

When it initially opened, the quality was really great but it has been declining of late. My last meal here was not at all as satisfying as my first. I hope it gets back on track because I frequented this place before as it serves South Indian, North Indian, Chats, Chinese, Mexican and Desserts. They were not serving it for name sake, but the food actually tasted nice. It is still good but comparitively, yes it has gone down.
It is divided into the AC and the Non-AC rooms, which are crowded during peak hours. So if you are going exactly at lunch/dinner time or on weekdays, make sure you go early or reserve a table. This hotel is really reasonable, filling your stomach without emptying your pockets ;)
Coming to my favorites, the Cheese Masala Dosa is damn good, with the right combination of masala and cheese. If you are a chat person, you can try out the Dahi Puri, Pav Bhaji and Aloo Puri. In the North Indian cuisine, the Paneer Butter Masala is one of the best I have ever had!
The surprise package here is the Mexican ( not mentioned in the Zomato menu). They have Nachos, Tacos and Macaroni. The Special Nachos and the Stir-Fry Macaroni here is as good as in any Mexican restaurant and I make sure to have it everytime I visit Shiv Sagar. Another dish you must have is the Sizzling Brownie Sundae. Ice-cream, Brownie and hot Chocolate Sauce. Yummm!!
I still do visit Shiv Sagar so I do say.. You can give it a try :)

Its an odd ball restuarant which provides enough of recipes to get a family outing successful

Good restaurant for veggies looking for international cuisine. Mexican food is inviting and good. We had Nachos, Cheese balls was delicious. We ended with a brownie sizzler.

North Indian food is OK, but recommend Mexican cuisine is recommended.

service is poor

This is a very reasonable place in Gandhi Bazaar...
The thalis, normal and deluxe fill ur tummy..

I've tasted the club sandwich ( my fav), ragda pattis, cutlet, corn bhel, masala Dosa, masala Puri, rava idli..
and I feel its a real value for money.

The corn soup could be made better.. Baby corn dry is ok.
The schezwan noodles is oily but tastes good..

They have the Italian section too now ... Should try their pastas sometime

Don't think twice to enter this restaurant if u value food for money

Very crowded place. Service was not good. Very late. Papad was like paper. Crispy veg dry was roasted, veg pepper masala was just ok. Rotis were dry

We had to ask for everything, sauce, pickle etc. more horrible thing was there were dangling electrical wires, very dangerous. Don't come again
