Review Shanthi Sagar Deluxe - Bengaluru

Manoj Lakshman
Old hotel with new avatar. Recently this hotel was renovated and has new name 'Udupi Shanti sagar' from 'Shanti sagar'. Reasonable price, food quality is good 👍 Limited seating available. Findung parking place here is a mess.

We used the dine in at the 1st floor. It was quite crowded on a Sunday morning at 10:30 am. They keep packaged bottled water on the table & once you open you pay for it. So be aware and no harm in asking for RO water. Service is not very quick & slack. Food is average and nothing great about it. Car parking is not easy with road dug up. Can be tried once.

Excellent place for South Indian food lovers one of the best breakfasts in town available at USS they also serve really delicious Chinese as well as north Indian food. This place is loved by vegetarian as it is pure veg also it has very good cleanliness.

All the south Indian break fast,/lunch, evening chats and fresh juices are available here. They have seating divided into two self service and service area.It has got a good location advantage on broader part of the road, where it is easily visible when passing and they don't have any parking constraint. Over all good.

I loved this place. Very clean and good taste. But most of the time you won't get a place to sit, because local people will be occupied the seats to just to deal with their daily commission business and you can't tell them to give a place.

Good place and good family restaurant🍴 nc food 🍴

I love their dosas. I'm an avid fan of South Indian breakfast being from south india . And nothing can beat a good dosa and idli vada . Their sambhar is still one of the best. Earliest memories start from this place

My go to place on the days I'm lazy to cook. It's affordable, clean south Indian restaurant. I like their coffee, open butter masala dosa and rahi dosa. Wait time is less that's what I have observed.

One of the worst services I ever witnessed. I have never rated any hotel so low but this is second incidence here.
The staff doesn’t knows what is courtesy. They make you wait to take the order and even then wait for order to be served.
Very rude and unpleasant staff.
I believe the management of the hotel is seeing this review.
We tried this restaurant for the first time, unfortunately its a disappointment. we ordered for Set Dosa, the taste of dosa and chutneys were below normal. They really need to work on the hygiene of the place and food

This place used to serve good food once a upon a time... This place has become worse..
Serves food like other darshinis, everything has to be improved like customer service, taste, overpriced, no special dishes..

Visited this place yesterday night ....
We went to the service hall where literally there not even single soul in sight .....the place looks old...smells old and definitely old furniture ...the chairs creak when you sit .....so definitely not the place for people looking for ambience .
I ordered a mini north Indian meal which was 60 bucks .....
1.tomato soup - the tomato soup was surprisingly good ....it had that tangy flavour....it was thick and spicy ....it could have used a little cream .
2.roti - the size of the roti is pretty big ....he serves 2 rotis....there are soft and properly roasted not too bad .
3.curries - it is very difficult to tell what curry he served ...it tasted like mash up of different curries .
4.rice- it was bland....consisted of only cloves...
5.curd rice - he definitely served us old curd rice...cause it was dry and we could taste the water he used to it soft .
6.jamun - more like a rock than a sweet ....no taste what so ever .

The prices are quite low
Ambience - 2/5
Food - 2.5/5
Service - 3.5/5
Price - 3/5
Better to visit the self service hall for some south Indian breakfast .....wouldn't try anything else.
If you want to taste a true south Indian dosa then this is the right place for u .....I visit this place only for the dosas and chaats both of which are pretty good ....haven't really tried the other dishes though .....

If one wants to taste best South Indian food cuisine then this hotel is the perfect stop.
Anything you can try here like Idly vada sambar, Masala Dosa, filter coffee are top notch. The items are bit pricy because of there goodwill in the market.
Overall very good and satisfying experience.
Parking will be a challenge here because there is no reserved parking slot here.
Best south-indian delicacies in Frazer Town are dished out here. Be it for a cup of filter coffee or a fresh juice to dosas and chaats, food here is delicious. Restaurant has improved after the renovation. The dosas here are excellent. Try the benne masala dosa, the masala cheese dosa, set dosas, rava dosa and paper dosa! The kesari bath is also a great dish to try here. Coffee is a clear cut winner and is a personal favourite of mine after a long day.

One of the best restaurant in Frazer town which serves south-Indian Cuisine
Ambiance is not too great but How does it matter, When you have almost everything one needs,So these petty things are neglect-able

Food-Trust me has no comparison in terms of all major factors that makes a food popular among the crowd
Let it be anything you order,You would not get disappointed (At-least I wasn't)
Their south-Indian meals are killer and nothing to complain about
Uff the serving size and the satisfaction that you have after your meal is immense
Their Chinese is also pretty well(If you tell them how you want it,less oil or stuff)

Service is little slow as they have very less service staff but they manage it pretty well I would say for the number of people they serve at one time

Prices are not to be taken care of at all, even if you are broke for the month, you can still dine here daily

I enjoy this place thoroughly and I would recommend this place to everyone

Good luck team
keep doing well :)

Just checked in for the morning breakfast with my foodie friend.
We ordered Idly vada and Puri Bhaji . Tasted really good. Vada was crispy, Chutney and Bhaji tasted great.
The place could have been maintained better. They even have a service hall at the first floor.
The prices are bit costly for South Indian food.
Food - 3.5/5
Service - 4/5

Regular place for pav baaji or north Indian food or simple fast veg dinner. Fast service good food. Crowdy even though lot of options. Can try for all!
Bakasuri
Ordered a dosa takeaway here. The onion dosa was decent nothing great but the chutney was a coconut chutney unlike many places in bangalore that serve daal based chutney. Onion Dosa costs 50 bucks and they served it with some liquid alu sagu which was nicer.

A place to have a quick bite and move on and not really for those who are very particular about ambiance.

As an antique collector I know the air conditioning system will fetch them a decent price and more customer the waiters are very casual and the ac zone is a little more expensive

Shanti sagar is a brand name and have been serving South Indian food like idlys, vada, dosa etc etc from ages. I think as the years have passed by the food is also changing however I would say a decent place to have breakfast and lunch in a hurry.

If you want to have an authentic Grilled sandwich then this is the place to go!
Rest South Indian dishes are yet to be tried by me.. Go for ice cream milk shakes also..

This place has sadly gone to the dogs. It used to be a place you come for a crisp dosa but its lost its quality big time. The waiter are shabbily dressed .. No hygiene at all ... Food quality has lowered terribly.. I wouldn't recommend going here at all

First the good things about this hotel is that the pizza is really tasty and also reasonably priced. That's it, that is the only good thing about this hotel.
There is a list of cons about the place. The thing that i will never forget about this place is that they once served me sambar which had gone bad. And The price is way too high, I'm telling this because the quality and the taste are not at all worth it.

Once upon a time, when frasertown had just a handful of restaurants, there was a saviour for all things "South Indian" and "Multi cuisine". "Shanti Sagar"..That saviour, had an overpowering Indian touch to his Chinese. His Gobi manchurian would have to be baptized as "Masale wala Gobi". His hakka noodles would be "Masala ke bina Vermicelli", yet the people loved what the saviour gave, what ever he offered was the benchmark. Aaaahh! How things were..

Until, one fine day, a witch put a spell on the saviour, she uttered those magic words" Let there be more restaurants, let S.S.D have competition"...and lo! restaurants started sprucing around and this Saviour's so called delicacies, started tasting "Waaaaaayy below standards".. His Chinese cuisine really made you wince bad, that your beautiful Big eyes were reduced to little slits.. His North Indian cuisine made you think," North Indian or Not Indian??" Poor thing, the only thing left of him were his breakfast menu goodies...Somehow, that never spoilt his reputation.People flocked to him, just for the old day's sake and monotonous routine.

So, today, this saviour dishes out decent enough idlis, dosas, vadas and everything south indian. This story, begs the saviour to be a "Sleeping beauty" or a "Snow white", in the hope that maybe one day, one fine day... the spell will be broken and maybe he may get up from his reverie aka exclusion from reality, and maybe that day... We at frasertown will actually live "Happily Ever After"...

I just hate this restaurant. These people are experts in selling overpriced tasteless food.

They just built their reputation over years when there was no other place to get good hygienic south indian food. But the times have changed and the way much better place to have south indian food at much lesser price.

Worst Experience from such a good restaurant

I ordered onion dosa the dosa was fine but the onions on it was spoilt and was rotten stinking like it was kept for days together if anybody had to eat it they would suffer from serious diseases!!!! worst experience EVER!!!!

Please be careful while ordering food here the ingredients can be spoilt or rotten ones....

Shanti Sagar Deluxe is on the busy Coles road in the Frazer town/Mosque road area, which already has multiple restaurants, of all kinds. The restaurant is very hard to miss, as it is located right beside Nandini and opposite CCD. As most of the restaurants around cater mainly to the non veg eaters, this one comes as a relief to those looking for some good vegetarian fare. The ground floor section is self service where 1st floor has a service/AC hall. The food is pretty hygienic and also quite tasty. Some of my favourites are the Cheese masala dosa and Pav Bhaji. Service is attentive, and overall good value for money too.
