Review Chung Wah - Bengaluru

They serve authentic Chinese cuisines. Great service must try their fried chopsey noodles & honey crispy chicken
Samridhi Chettri
The place serves authentic Chinese food. We started with the wanton soup, monchow soup and the sea food soup which were all flavourful. The burnt garlic fried rice was amazing and so was the noodles in black bean sauce. The roast pork was tender and juicy and the gravy was perfect. Overall, we loved the food there.

Came in for lunch today, Tried the Wanton, Dan Dan noodles and the fried rice. Above everything - the quantity in all of the dishes are great, had to end up parcelling there fried rice. Food wise, it tasted like proper indo- Chinese restaurants- no complaints, great service too. Very easy on the pocket

There are lots of options, some you might like, some you might not. Satay chicken with peanut chutney was outstanding, so was the chow mein. Service was quick, the ambience could be made a bit better. You can park on the road or in the complex near the restaurant.

The food is good though a bit costly vis a vis the portion size but okay for small/ moderate eaters. Ambience is okay not very crowded. We had a good customer service so far. Would love to visit it again in future.

Go to place for Chinese food. Pleasantly lit place with Classic ambience where varieties of Chinese food is available and it's very fresh to eat. The staff are good and very helpful. One thing I noticed was there is no mirror in the washing room and there is no sufficient space in the washing area. That could have been better planned

Best Asian food place. Here chicken momos are the must try! Every thing here is so tasty. A must visit in Bangalore for Asian foods 😍

Recently i visited there, had some noddles and soups. Noddles quality and quantity was really good, soup was average. But don't order any cold drinks cause 10 or may be 20 rupees of a cold drink bottle which u get it outside if you order they charged me Rs.60 which i really did not appreciate and it's very much unfair. But do visit once staff, environment, hygiene everything is good 👍😊

A typical old school Chinese restaurant in the heart of Bangalore. Has a wide variety of food and a great set of staff. Ambience: (4/5) Situated in the floor below ground, it has ample seating with both smaller and larger tables. It’s got some nice design elements to point to its Chinese theme, but mostly is more of a functional space. The entire place has a nice rustic and vintage feel to it. Food: (4/5) The food had some great elements and some elements that could have been better. The chicken satay was nice, expected it to be more spicy, but it still have a nice unique flavour. The two soups we had were (1) Manchow and (2) Tom Yum. The soups were Perhaps a bit of a disappointment. Though the flavour of the flavour of the Tom Yum was alright, it was no where near where usual Tom Yum should be. The friend wontons as well as the veg ones were nice. I do have a bias and preferred the fried one more. The chung wah fried rice was also good. And finally the two best things of the meal were (1) Jasmine Tea and (2) The Darum dessert of friend noodles with honey and ice cream. Both were absolutely brilliant. Very well made and helped end our meal on a high. Summary: (4/5) Typical restaurant for Chinese food which is good. But don’t miss out on the tea and dessert.

Loved the old Bangalore Chinese food. Reminded of my childhood. Non-spicy but flavourful and taste to die for. Vast menu with choices of different meats, sea food and veggies. Service has always been good and staff friendly.

As the name says, It's a Chinese restaurant.. Wonderful Chinese Restaurant.. You will find people here hut isn't so crowded.. Food is amazing.. Starters too is amazing.. Great for Non Vegetarians rather than Vegetarians.. They do have a quick service.. There are couple of Chinese Restaurant on this lane and Chung Wah can be a good option for sure :)

Good food , cozy ambience and reasonably priced. The service was great too. P.S: A No no for the washrooms.

Quite good and loved the cuisine. If you are veggie, you have to choose wisely. But for non veg people, you get a lot of choices and all of them awesome!

This Chinese restaurant Chung Wah is at Residency cross road (near mayo hall and brigade road). When it comes to Chinese food main attraction is non-vegetarian food. As I am vegetarian, I avoid atleast Chinese restaurants but went there because of friends. I tried some veg options and they were good. The non-veg dishes ordered by my friends were also good as reported by them. The staff is courteous and attentive.

Wonderful dining experience. I can't resist myself from putting this photo.. this chicken Momo was just wowowowowow.. A must GO starter. All starters + main courses are typical Chinese and lipsmacking tasty too 😍 My 5 stars
Maun Ka Sangeet
- Taste of food is good - Veg & non-veg both options are available - Few dishes are slightly over priced - Usually not crowded on weekdays - Overall good place

First time we have ordered from Chung Wah on residency Road. Food was very tasty and whole family enjoyed. Anup Kuruvilla

Faulty AC started leaking at our table.
Ruined our soup before we could save it.
We told the man in-charge but he was too busy to care. The waiter didn't bother showing us to another table so we found one ourselves. The waiter still didn't bother moving our dish to the new table. Had to make do with the lousy service because we had to catch a movie soon and couldn't waste time settling into another restaurant. Fortunately, they agreed to not charge us for the soup we couldn't finish because of their leaky AC.
Clearly, Chung Wa on Residency Road enjoys the loyalty of many customers who'll dine there anyway, and so it doesn't matter what level of service they offer customers. It must feel great to own a restaurant where you don't care about customers, and still manage to stay in business. I obviously won't go there again. But I can't stop wondering... If the dining area is in such bad state, then what kinda hygiene their kitchens must have?

P.S: This is a picture of the splash made on our table by the water leaking from the AC!
A Hungry Gobbler
One of the oldest Chinese restaurants in Bangalore and still manages to retain their old clients. The food is authentic and true to its name. The service is quick and the ambiance is charming. The Hakka noodles served was thinned down. No mirrors and no tissue in the washroom seemed kinda weird. Go for the food tho 👍

If you are a Chinese food fan, come to this place. Love every dish we ordered. Nearly we ordered 10dishes. Only Momo was average. Hospitality and ambience was quiet good and atmosphere inside the restaurant not too much crowded.
Antara Maira
Very nice ambience. Good staffs. Well decorated restaurant with mild lights. Its good to have food with romantic ambience. Foods are 10/10 . Love you Chung wah.

Went back here after ages
As I entered it felt like time stood still
We ordered our standard favourites mix fried rice chicken in hunan sauce and lamb dry and washed it down with fresh lime soda
All in all a good meal

Quick tip:- for a medium range Chinese experience with a few authentic Chinese dishes is a must try place. Budget friendly and good. The quantity is pretty good. Ask them to add more veggies to the rice and noodles or it’s pretty plain. At times the taste is spot on sometimes disappointing keep trying to eat a budget friendly meal though!
Manchow soup chicken- a thick Chicken soup with a good hint of spice and crispy noodles to top it up
Lungfung also is a must try
General tao Chicken- with a sour sweet taste is good with a bite of broccoli
Chicken chowmein- the only place you get extra thin authentic noodles
Egg fried rice- well made ask for veggies to be added or it’s too plain
Hunan chicken gravy- good amount gravy with the right balance
The flat noodles was more of the regular noodles over boiled sticky and was not the quality Chung wah is known for. Experience was bad.
Ankit
Bad staff, bad food . Never ever go to this place , even after calling several time they didn't respond , staff doesn't have knowledge of food they serve.
Radhika Bhama
Service is not good. The food is extremely oily. It doesn't taste good. Even the basic Swet corn soup tasted bad. The ambience is dull. It spoiled our evening.

Today afternoon we have vegetarian food to celebrate our friends birthday. The celebration came to an end after we discovered a baby cockroach in our food. We raised our concern to the Zomato support team but they were reluctant to take any action against the restaurant. I am attaching some photos.

Takeaway order. Chicken momos X 2, chicken manchow soup, veggie hakka noodles, mushroom pepper fry.
On-time delivery by zomato, good packing.
Food...tasty, hot, fresh. Momos were good with the mildly spicy red chutney. Manchow soup...yum, with the crispy noodles packed separately. Noodles n dry pepper fry authentic Indian Chinese.
Good job Chung Wah! 👍
Kurian.oommen122
The worst customer service and food I have ever experienced.
We had ordered 2 main courses and when we were trying to customise the order the person taking the order acted as if she is not able to understand and then made faces. We initially ignored but then when we told that the munchurian was dry, she was like it is how it is and if u want to change it will be chargeable
The waiters here are so rude and the food we received was so bland
We ordered gobi manchurian, dragon chopsuey and fried rice , sad to tell all tasted sad , especially gobi manchurian.
Sanjay Sadarangani
Definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. Chung wah special fried rice (praws and chicken) along with sheswan chicken gray is my favorite.
Swarna
Good, cosy place for Chinese food. I love their soups. Tried their butterfly prawns, chicken satay, hunan chicken gravy and mixed fried rice. Overall everything was good and satisfactory.

Food is served in good quantity and waiting time is also decent. Nice place and would go back again for a happy, Chinese meal. Want to try the other dishes from here.

Car parking in this place could be an issue though.

Had heard about this one a long time ago from a friend.
Tired legs from some shopping nearby and a huge appetite for Chinese food got us here.
The dragon prawn was good.
Their special noodles was okayish.
Nabanita Guha
Ordered their garlic fried rice and their Dan Dan chicken noodles and schezwan chicken. The delivery was right on time and the food was delicious. A special mention about their Dan Dan noodles. It was really awesome. I would recommend that to everyone.

Their Pork KwayTeow is Tasty and quantity is quite substantial. The Chinese Chilli Sauce is useless. They need to send their Cook to Singapore/Malaysia and learn from them exactly how to make Chinese Chilly Sauce. They are too stingy. I order frequently using the Zomato App. Yet, over the last couple of years, they have NEVER placed a single Napkin in the Parcel. Stupid morons. I don't think they have Napkins!!
Shrusti Mohanty
All time favourite for Chinese, with unwavering service over the decades.. There are a few things off the menu, ask the friendly servers if you want something particular and they will make it exactly the way you want!

After Brigade road scenes we came here as it is very close to Brigade rd
Proper Chinese cuisine and it taste like it
Staff were patient and co ordinating
The food is really good 🤟 The outlet I had been is Residency road

Visited this places after ages, must say this place has gone down hill... ordered a Cantonese Pork Noodle which lacked flavours, hardly had any meat....the only saving grace was the chilli sauce

Never going to visit this place again!!!

Good food but Rice quantity was less when ordered online . Also had indicated in my instructions that Mala chicken can be served dry, but it was not taken care off.

Been to this place last week - average ambience, decently good Chinese food in town- Lemon Coriander soup was good. One Chinese grilled chicken was not up to the market. Good joint but not the best
Anjan Dattagupta
Went with family yesterday. Had Golden Fried Prawn, Chinese Fried Chicken, Fish in sauce, Mixed fried rice and chicken mei-fun. The Prawan and fried chicken was very good. Didn't like the fish and the mei-fun though, would have been good to go for cantonese noodles. The fried rice was good. Service was quick. Overall a good experience with the bill coming to 1400 for 3 including tips, which I believe is pretty decent

This is THE go to place for my family’s Sunday dinner since my childhood days. The food is spectacular and far ahead in terms of taste and quality in comparison with the newer crop of Chinese restaurants.
Schezwan chicken fried rice, chilly chicken, chicken manchurian and golden fried prawns are some of the must haves.
The whole decor and area this place is located in make me nostalgic. Love love it.
Amit Suryavanshi
I ordered very basic chineses - fried rice, noodles and chicken gravy. it was the worst Chinese food I have ever had . the rice was tasting stale, noodles were tough and the chicken has more oil than what 10 chicken gravies would have. and the worst part is that the delivery came 1 hour later than the committed time of one hour . never am eating at Chung Wah again. and never am I ordering on Zomato again. The chat support team was as helpless as I was in helping me.

very very salty dish they have provided me very disappointed from restaurant

Food was too oily and taste was not upto the mark

We visited Brigade road last week for shopping and were desperately looking for a nice Chinese place for lunch, when Zomato gave us a suggestion to visit 'Chung Wah'. 'Chung Wah' being a famous restaurant chain in Bangalore needed no introductions and we immediately decided to step-in there for lunch.

Reminiscent of peculiar Chinese decor, aroma and setting, 'Chung Wah' is one of the very few places in Bangalore which serve authentic Chinese (with tastes & flavors slightly modified to cater to the India palette). Dim lighting through the beautiful Chinese lamps hanging through the roof, Chinese paintings and artifacts add another dimension to the experience.

We were very hungry and didn't bother much to order the appetizers, straightaway jumping to main-course. We ordered our favorite Luóhàn zhāi (Lo Han Chai), also famously known as Buddha Delight - a popular Chinese dish that consists of various vegetables and other vegetarian ingredients cooked in a soy sauce based liquid. To accompany the Buddha Delight, we ordered a serving each of Shanghai Fried Rice & Szechwan Vegetable Noodles. The order was served in no time and everything was super delicious. On top of this, the restaurant staff was very hospitable and served us with a big smile, even suggesting their select vegetarian recipes that we could try.

A must visit place to try out one of the best Chinese food in town, you will not be disappointed.

After Darjeeling, the best Chinese Retreat, the food quality is fresh and preparation is much authentic which you will definitely feel while tasting the food.
The place looks historic with Chinese tradition and serving amazing delicacy, fit with you pocket and budget and surprisingly amazing with the taste.
Every dish is having strong flavor which will hit your tongue and give you an experience.
Must try

Used to be my favourite place for Chinese but today I think you have lost your flavours and punch for the kind of food you served me last week . Just worst god dam Chinese . Another place gone to the dogs !

After listening to many wows and whoas for this place. I went here expecting something yummy, but turned out that yummy food is only for non vegetarians. Vegetarian food is very okayish here.i have a request to the chef to pleaaaaaase improve on the veg dragon rolls. I was very disappointed after eating them :(

When you are with family you can't experiment much and I always end up looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant and the same search led me to this place.

Not big on ambiance or decors but they still serve authentic (Indianised) Chinese food.

The serveurs were courteous and suggestive and most importantly very prompt

We ordered
Satay Chicken: Boneless chicken marinated in peanut flavour, grilled and served on wooden skewers with peanut sauce dips

Fish in Belachan Sauce, Chinese Fried Chicken, Fried Rice, Chowmein & Chilli Chicken

All the foods were tasty and really liked the place for its quality of food.

Decent enough!
We ordered Dan Dan Mein (Noodles)
Szechwan fried rice
Vegetable balls in choice of sauce (this was yummy)
And fun activity- provided chop sticks to eat! Which was kinda fun!
Chung wah has been one of the oldest chinese restaurant in the city and has serving quality chinese food...
This place was always there on my list but missed to visit until yesterday...the restaurant gives you the feeling of authentic chinese restaurant and indeed to an extent was...one of the best fried rice I've had in bangalore..
mala schezwan chicken was also nice...i wish the quantity of manchow soup was a bit more...apart from that i have no complain...
the staffs are very polite and the service was good too.
i will recommend this place..

ambience: 3/5
food: 4/5
music: 3.5/5
service: 4/5

To the Chef/Management,
please reduce the quantity of green peas from shanghai fried rice.

One of the oldest place in Bangalore. It still has its charm. Food there is no doubt it's always been good here. You can actually see a lot of families coming and dining here. I wonder why they stopped using the place upstairs.

Heard a lot... Had A great expectation.... But all in vein.... the starter of chicken platter was awesome.... If i had only that I Surely would have given them 5*.....but then came chung fried rice and chung meifoon along with kum pao chicken..... they were the worst i could expect. the rice was sticky, meifoon was over fried and main course was tasteless..... may be it was an off day for the cook or a bad luck for me.... but will not recomend the place to anyone....
2* for the place, ambiance and very well hospitality by the people there.
Shamayeeta Chakravarty
Extremely rude and inhuman behaviour. Had visited with my parents who are senior citizens and could not sit in the table provided to us due to space constraint. On requesting them to move us to a 6 seater table which was free, they refused straight away and actually were ok with us moving out. On letting the person in reception know, he just smiled and let us leave. You do not expect this kind of behaviour from someone in hospitality industry. Very disappointed and will never visit again.

Bad staff courtesy will not come back here again , food is good here , but I don't like the staff attitude not helpful and not courteous hence don't recommend

This place had good decor and ambience.
We ordered
Sweet corn soup
Hot and Sour soup
2 Nasi Goreng Chicken Fried rice
Mala Szechuan Chicken

I felt the soup was little watered down. It was not as thick as I expected it to be.
Nasi Goreng fried rice was hot and spicy, just the way I like it.
The mala chicken szechuan gravy was tasty and went well with the nasi goreng.

No complaints with the taste . However, the restaurant never checks the notes mentioned.,I requested for no egg in the pork fried rice due to allergies but I received it’s with egg. I requested for the deciles pork to be dry but I got it with gravy. Will appreciate if the manager or the head chef oversees this and are not negligent.. this is the third time this is happening to my order.. I am not happy with them being irresponsible .

Quantity has reduced significantly. Why?
Pranav Sudesh
the gravy was very bad and had only vegetables that were dry

Practically an institution in Bangalore, Chung Wah has long been one of the most reliable Chinese restaurants in the city. I've been here more times than I can count and I've never left unsatisfied.

The food is consistently good, inexpensive and they definitely don't skimp on the quantity. The staff is cordial and polite, but the most endearing thing about Chung Wah is the serene atmosphere about the place. Perfect for a quiet evening after a hard day's work.

I would personally recommend the Prawns in Belachan Sauce (hope I spelt that right), the Chinese Roast Chicken, Chicken Steamed Momos and the Pots of Prosperity. But then again just about everything on the menu is worth a taste.

Time to put a leash on my growling stomach!

food is great.... authentic Chinese
ambience is old school
love the pork here
staff is friendly
location middle of the city
pricing is fine given it's proximity to MG road

Went here for a team lunch, and we absolutely loved the place. The food was delicious, friendly staff, and good ambience. Will definitely visit this place again
Vishal Gupta
A romantically lit place with soul satisfying food at pocket friendly price. Their cheese chilli is a good dish to try. The service could be a little better by being more proactive.
Ashwin
Average tasting food which is grossly overpriced. Soup was waterish. Any starter item has just few small portions. Paid a premium for ordinary food. Avoid at all costs.

Let me give this a title “The death of a great Chinese Restaurant!”
I have been a regular here since my childhood- regular meaning almost once a week! There were many Chinese restaurants in town but trust me no one rocked like Chung Wah did.
The staff knew what we ordered and looking at me they would promptly get the bowl and chopsticks which I love them for!
What happens over the decades- the quality of my favourite restaurant goes down, I end up having stomach upsets and the taste? I don’t recognise this place anymore!
I am emotional writing this because this was the only place that never disappointed me and all of a sudden it does. I told myself ok may be it was a bad day and tried it again and again but no! It has finally lost it!

Pretty average food. Not too pricey. We had veg manchow soup and veg chowmein. The soup was fine while the chowmein did taste and smell weird.

Im changing my review. This place has horrible delivery system. Their phone line was busy for 20 mins. I ordered my parcel at 7:30. And it's 9:44 and still haven't received it. The person at the phone told me it'll take one hour. Which I was okay with since he told me before. But more than 2 hours is unacceptable. You should inform us next time if there is going be such a delay. When I called the restaurant at 9, the parcel hadn't even left. Hope you guys shut down if this is the service you provide!
Sagar Rawalani
It is very nice. Prices are reasonable.
It has more quantity in one box . So when you order anything just remember this.
If four persons are there one box of noodles, manchurian and fried rice is fine for everyone.
Anushri.pandey.joshi
your quality has been deteriorating
there is absolutely no chicken in the chicken soup . not sure if its cost pressure but pls increase the price but dont compromise on quality
Vikas Chawla
Terrible experience. Made a order for Veg Shanghai rice and received Egg Shanghai rice instead. When we spoke to the restaurant , at first they were not ready to accept. Later they said the blamed it on the kitchen boy and said they did not know what to do. Highly unprofessional
Noorain Ahmed
When it first opened they served the best Chinese- then their standard went down terribly and recently we ordered again. It’s still not consistent with flavours , but when they get it right- man they get it right!

Had worst experience. Found cockroach in the food. Unhygienic place. They didn’t apologise nothing we had to walkout. As they didn’t took any responsibility to answer us

I was looking out for some good pork dishes. So I kept hunting around and happened to reach this place. The place was totally deserted not a single customer and waiters sitting and waiting for a few faces to come around.

I clearly told the waiter before ordering that I am looking for the gully and fatty pieces of pork and not the ribs and meat part. They charged me Rs 319 (including taxes) for a portion of Chilli Pork (what they call) which I got parcelled. Hailing from the North-East and familiar with these types of dishes to the core. I was really disappointed to see that none of the pieces were the one that I requested for and moreover all the meat had some thick cornflour coating which simply dissolved the taste of a Chinese Dish like this...

I think the road side eateries (people from Darjeeling or Northeast) cook better Chinese dishes than this restaurant.

No personal grudges but I drove at least 20kms in search of good pork as per my choice and I was totally dissatisfied.

If you offer pork then it should be offered with all options...

Thanks...

Was in Bangalore for my corporate visits and met up with couple of my school friends after 22 years who had relocated and settled there. My boss was accompanying me for lunch and what a delight it was to meet them after so many years.
Located at the basement the ambience is an old world charm with wooden furnishings and dimly lit. The food was what it tastes of Chinese dishes in Kolkata.
We had for starters - Tom Yung Soup (chicken & mixed), mains - Mixed Fried Rice, Chicken Hakka Noodles and side dish - Chicken Chilli gravy.
Took me back 10 yrs down memory lane...
Loved the whole thing alongwith the fact that it the prices are very pocket friendly...
Will definitely be going over whenever in Bangalore..
Guys 2 words " roast duck " must pre- order 1 day in advance ,worth every penny. momos, noodle etc all good. but the chinese guy who took me here said this was the best roast / peaking duck in India
.
Simran Mirpuri
We usually order from here on weekends, but there’s definitely a huge difference when it comes to actually dining here, which was in fact much better. The food has always been of good quality in this branch, as compared to the other branches. My favourites being the Pan Fried Noodles, Hunnan Chicken and the Salt and Pepper Prawns. Didn’t really enjoy the spring rolls as they were very oily. The Hakka noodles are also great, I can have them plain, it’s that good. Overall, good experience, will definitely go back!

I think this is it! This will be my “go to” place for Chinese food. I’ve been searching for a nice Chinese joint where food is tasty, service is quick, prices reasonable and in the heart of the city. I used to frequent Chungwah many years ago but forgot about it completely till I had a craving for Chinese food after what seemed like ages and rediscovered what eating here was like again! I have no complaints about anything so far – dragon rolls, Chinese chopsuey, shanghai fried rice, babycorn Manchurian and the fiery red chilli sauce that goes well with everything is what does it for me! Every mouthful was hot, delicious and satisfying. I do wish Chinese tea was free after a meal like how it is in some other restaurants but out here they charge for it. That aside, I plan to visit this place whenever the craving hits :)
Prerna
Visited there with friends, in afternoon time not so crowded. It is really hard to find good veg food in Bangalore, especially in buffet restaurant, here food was very delicious for nonveg and for veg also, really enjoyed . Recommend to every vegetarian to visit there once.
Fazahath Baig
The menu is Chinese, tries to be close to authentic Chinese but has very indian flavours to the starters and gravies. Reasonably on the higher side when compared to the options available around the area. Would greatly help if they can improve freshness and quality of chicken served. The moment it's tasted you know that it was frozen before cooked.
Rahul Pandey
well chung wah chain is famous for chinese food in Bangalore.. their main course z very good.. but they can improve their starters.. otherwise it's a really gud place.
Vijaykrishna Ranganathan
This Chung Wah location, has become a bit of a regular haunt for me and my friends.

The small sized eatery located at the basement, has a quaint yesteryear feel, with its Chinese motif furniture, I love their golden hued walls, with Chinese art.. What's missing are the red lanterns :-)

The menu and food is quintessential China meets India and has all the favourites!

Last Sunday lunch we ordered a chicken noodle soup (which was brilliant) and a wonton soup (always a great choice here)

For mains we got a Me Goreng (not on menu, but they made it), which has a nice ginger spice hit. A Chinese fried chicken (a little dry, but decent flavor), chicken fried rice + Chilly chicken (both very hearty and flavourful) and my personal fave, a stir fried bok choy(with loads of garlic and totally delicious)

We washed it all down with a pot of really good jasmine tea.

Our fave server, is this lovely lady called Kim and we always banter a bit with her.

They also serve a duck roast, but it has to be ordered in advance and we cant wait to try that! I have to say, this is one of the better outlets, in terms of quality.

Recommended!

Over the years, Chung Wah has never disappointed me; be it Bengaluru or my hometown of Kolkata.

My father has always recommended Chung Wah to anyone who visits the town and for sure, it's truly recommendable. My recent experience was a couple of weeks back along w/ my family. Would like to share my latest experience in the form of ratings (though I'm not an absolute expert to do so), starting w/ what we ordered for lunch first:

Lunch: (overall rating - 4/5)
Tom Yup Soup - 4/5
Chinese Fried Chicken - 4/5
Pots of Prosperity - 5/5 (Highly recommended)
Double Cooked Pork - 4/5
Chung Wah Fried Rice - 4/5
Dan Dan Mein - 3.5/5

Ambiance: 3/5
Staff: 4.5/5 (Very polite and very quick)
P.S: Point to be noted, the quality as well as the quantity of the food is decent enough to make you think that you're getting more than the amount you're actually paying. Thanks a lot Chung Wah, for serving your best to us for so many years and wish you do the same in the upcoming days.Regards,
Sayak & family

Certainly of of my favourite Chinese restaurants since a very long time now. The food quality is consistent and the flavours are brilliant. Carry on with the good work.

Why the 5 rating? Because I've been eating here for 22+ years, and the food still tastes as amazing as it always does!

Chung Wah off Residency Road is the quintessential 'Bangalore Chinese' eatery, that's been around much longer than the city's recent foodies. Parking is the only issue, you'll have to either cab it or park at the Utility Building next door. The decor and ambiance are unpretentious and functional, and have remained so all these years. You come here not to experience the orient's visual treats (until your food comes that is).

Best vegetarian fried rice in Bangalore. The kind that comes with green peas (not seen in most other restaurants), and tastes just so heavenly! You must try the plain fried rice to fully experience what I'm writing about. The same goes for the noodles. And the best gobi manchurian in town too! Since two decades, that's all I've been eating here, despite the vegetarian section of the menu being generous. Occasionally I eat of my friend's or family's plates, but give me my veg fried rice and gobi manchurian (dry or gravy depending on the mood) any day! This is what comfort food is all about!!

Chung Wah to me is the one that started the trend and craze for Chinese food in Bangalore. This and Rice Bowl. More than the latter, I have eaten and will continue to eat at Chung Wah. May you live forever!

Just started with Tom Yum soup!!
What a facepalm moment!!
There is no lemon grass, No Kaffir Lime leaves!!
Its a chicken and Mushroom coriander soup.
Disappointing.

And Now red curry!!! Oh my god!! They are out of lime leaves and lemongrass.
Only coconut milk doesn't make it Thai food.
You ruined it for me.

Ordered from Chung wah after ages and wasn't sure sure if the food was still as good ... it is !
We ordered Malas shezwan chicken, broccoli and mushrooms in chilli sauce both of which we very tasty . I'd like to add that these dishes were of good ol' Indianised Chinese flavours and not authentic Chinese as some of the newer restaurants .
Lastly , the pricing is quite reasonable

Walking in... one may get possessed by a tantalizing aura of comfort and warmth. Sitting on red-leathered seats, the fine architecture on the wall grasps your attention, to the many swimming fishes to trail your eyes to the pictures on the wall, reminding one of the era of the Ming Dynasty. Whereas, you are always promised to be welcomed with at least a polite disposition or a haughty smile.
Choices: The menu, quite simple in design yet well suited for the restaurant, in my opinion. It is greatly justified, when the choices in the menus are diverse. There is a lot of variety in the food as you can either have it vegetarian or pick your dish with the desired meat. The menu presents quite a handful of the delicacies you would expect in Beijing or even in the small corners of Hong Kong.
A reasonable amount of time is taken for the preparation of each meal, 10-15 minutes approximately if or notified. The presentation of each soup, noodles or spring rolls speaks for itself and its flavors, delicious, contenting and traditional. Although retaining a traditional essence of the food, it is to be noted that the food is a fusion of the Indian cuisine as well, e.g the manchurian. The quantity of each dish is well suited for a number of 3 three people, therefore proportional.
On the contrary, with great food comes great expenses! Generally, The price is a heavy drawback when coming to the restaurant. It should be well-considered if one is planning to have a family dinner or gathering there. In my opinion, the price is reasonable for the food presented and eaten.
Overall, a hospitable aura lingers in the air. If you are looking for a Chinese fusion cuisine that still retains the essential flavors with some money in your wallet, this is the place for you. You are bound to be struck with awe by the mysteries of each flavor . The simplicity which the restaurant is drenched in, is one that must be well appreciated as it leaves you with satisfaction. It is worth a try for anyone seeking to go there anytime soon. In my opinion, this specific franchise is a lot more better than the other ones, and deserves more recognition. One might just need some patience to adapt to each pungent taste...

Well, when it comes to Chinese food in Bangalore, Chung Wah is definitely one of the few places which comes on the top of the mind. With almost 17 outlets in the city, Chung Wah is a famous Chinese restaurant chain in Bangalore.

The outlet at Residency Road is little difficult to identify and miss if you are a first timer here. The one with its hoarding on the ground floor always seems to be closed, but the restaurant is in the basement.

The place has a calm and soothing ambiance. Staff are quite attentive and courteous.

During our last visit over a weekend, we ordered Sea Food Combination Soup. It was bit bland. Chicken Spring Roll in the starter was average. The outer layer of the roll was not crispy enough, and it was breaking quite easily. Have had much better Spring Roll in other places.

The main course was amazing. Dan Dan Mein – one of their signature Noodle was brilliant in taste. The noodles were thin, the ingredients were perfectly mixed and cooked. Chilly Chicken was mouth-watering – it was tender and juicy.

While the soup and starter disappointed us a bit, but the main course covered it up. Do visit for sure to explore a wide range of other varieties.

When I arrived in Bangalore, almost a decade ago, there were two names synonymous with Chinese food in Bangalore - Chung Wah and Chungs while Rice Bowl was not far behind.

Fast forward to today - when you have restaurants serving Chinese cuisine in every nook and corner across the city, Chung Wah is still going strong. I have frequented this place so many times that I can claim to have tasted almost 2/3rds of their items on the menu.

From the Drums of Heaven to the Chicken Wontons to the Pork spare ribs in the starters section; to the Double Cooked Pork, the Kung Pao Chicken, the Chinese Fried Chicken in the mains along with their excellent rice and noodles items, this place smacks of tasty nostalgia for me.

First-timers can start with the Chicken Manchow Soup, the Drums of Heaven with its accompanying sauce, and proceed to the rice or noodle items.

The prices have increased steadily over the years - understandably so...The quantity and the quality (which has dipped along with the rise in prices but again, to maintain the exact standard over the years is difficult), but you can be assured of a wholesome meal here.

It has been a long time since I visited Chung Wah but yesterday when my eyes fell upon the image of a crispy American Chopsuey in the papers - I knew it was time to visit Chung Wah soon...very soon.

One of the best Chinese restaurants you could find around the area. We ordered the golden fried prawns, dragon chopsuey, American chopsuey and chowmein. The food was very tasty and reasonable, except for the prawns which was vastly overpriced. The quantities were excellent. Definitely a place you'd want to go back to.

So far, the food has always been very good and the portions are a good size. Delivery is always quick and much faster than I expect it. All interactions with the staff have also always been excellent. My fall back order anytime!

Last night I was craving for some really spicy Chinese food and also wanted to try out a new joint, so I thought I'd order food from Chung Wah.

Ordered their Sichuan pork fried rice and their Sichuan chicken curry, the food was really good, the rice was nice and spicy, their portions are incredible. The gravy was bloody amazing too. How does one really manage to stay fit when there are places like these serving such great food?

Ordered prawn fried rice. Had to struggle to find prawn and egg. This is cheating. I keep on ordering food from them thru Zomato and may a time they provide less content. But todays was the worst performance. Have to think twice before i order further.
