Review Mangala Hotel Restaurant - Bengaluru

ARJUN NARIKKADAN
If you are near Jakkasandra then this is the go to place for Malayalis biriyani is average but the meals and the fish fries are good and the porotta is also nice

It's a Kerala restaurant. The food is decent, and the service is also quite great. The atmosphere is... Kinda "meh, but okayish". Would recommend this place for decent Kerala meals. The Kerala poratta was quite, so is the pepper chicken curry. The Kerala meals was quite good too (not amazing or mind-blowing, it's good.) The Aila fry (Indian mackerel) is also well made. Would give this place a 3.5 (out of 5) on my recommendation scale.

One of the nicest hotels in banglore for Kerala food especially for breakfast. Appam, puttu, kadala curry, masala dosa, vada, all are the best. Service is good, fast, staffs are friendly. Price is also moderate. It'll be crowded during lunch time. Place is little congested but considering the quality of the food, this is a good choice. They have a tea and snack corner attached. ♿🚫

Large Natural caves claw to Blr and Hyderabad both. Place is really clean and well maintained. Inside cave is hot and humid . This makes it tiring to walk. They have kept large fans and some sitting places. Walk as much as u can and walk back is what we did. Worth a visit especially in winter months. Can do this and gandikota together. Not much food options around

One of the best restaurant in 1st block koramangala, Jakkkasandra extension, Main speciality of this restaurant is variety of dishes for south as well as north in vegetarian and non vegetarian foods, And specially u will get all traditional mallu breakfast lunch and dinner
Gajanand Kumawat
Only south indian food is available and have a great taste of it. But it's also not pure vegetarian restaurant. Service was well..
Justin Thobias
Very good restaurant which serves kerala style veg and non veg food. Always maintain their level of taste and quality. I especially liked their biriyani and kerala porota.
savitha nair
Typical laid-back simple kerala food stall. Typical kerala tea. Snacks good. Not great. Not bad. Total value for money We had tea n snacks
Subhasree Jana
Best milk tea in Bangalore as per my taste. Last 6 years I am having team here. Though I shift from Koramangala to some other place, whenever I get time I get a cup of tea here
Sajesh K
A decent place to eat out in Koramangala. Friendly staff. Variety of dishes. Kerala ethinic dishes as i have updated in my photos along. Do visit.
Hitesh Hambarde
Typical Kerala food, limited items for Veg, avoid Chinese items, go only for budget friendly Kerala dishes.
Praveen Kumar
Good Kerala Kadis, tea and coffee. You get Sugeen, Onion samosa, Payazham puri, cake, Dal vada, Urdal vada and many more.
Mahir Kapadia
Lovely place for malyali tea and coffee. Really tasty fried snacks for a cold winter evening!

Pour more spice than required

Visited the place for lunch with my friend. We were delighted by South-Indian style main course with spices and lots of flavors, extremely impressive for a non - vegetarian restaurant. We ordered a fish biriyani, though the biriyani was flavored well, the fish wasn't fresh. We felt the frozen taste on the fish served in the biriyani.
The service was below average, however the fish biriyani we ordered was served fast.
Arun Kumar
Good place to have nice breakfast. Appam and Kadapa curry would be a good combination here. They offer typical hot and cold drinking water. Tea is also good.
Shashi Shashi
Ordered food but box full of onion cilly expect 2 pieces ..
It was like onion chilly curry not çhicken curry
.. didn't like the food ... better choose other one
Shabasy
Good one. I had tried idly, poori, masal dosa, meals and biryani. It has one of the finest kerala style idly which i miss after moving to bangalore. The real kerala idly which has the subtle tast of urad dal. Biryani and rice also good. Customer service, ambience and hygeine should improve. Also dont buy parcel from here. They dont give carry bag even if you buy 3/4 items. Dont know how they want the customer to carry it.
Pratheej G
Do not take food from here .Today morning I went for having breakfast I saw one of the supplier re using the left of over gravy of egg curry so I recommending all people especially malyalies since it's a Kerala style . We should not tolerate this I am searching option for legal compliant and arrange food inspection from government side

pocket friendly place that never disappoints in taste. We have been regular customers for Sunday breakfasts for more than a year. Puttu kadala curry, appam chicken stew, ghee roast are always good and must be tried here. Service is quick
Kulsumma1997
Would appreciate if you can reduce the amount of masala in Chicken Biriyani. Other than that, Biriyani is Yum.

Went here to have breakfast today morning. We ordered Appam, egg roast and kadala curry ( chickpeas curry) it was as good what you get in Kerala. Loved the service and the food was very fresh and tasty.. would love to visit again...

Went here again to have lunch this time, was not disappointed at all the food they serve is really good Ordered a simple Kerala fish fry meal and chicken roast Loved it

Taste 4/5
Service 4/5
Ambience 3.5/5
Value for money 4/5

Be it something as generic/simple as onion dosa or niche cuisine like Puttu, these guys ace it all. Sambar has the right amount of spices and vegetables, the tomato chutney accentuates the taste while the coconut chutney is not only utterly delicious but also appetizingly aromatic.
Their appams and parotta are a pleasure to the palate.
This place offers two things that you won't forget once you've been there: their food that offers amazing aftertaste as well and the old taatha in lungi busily limping and serving with a smile.
Barring him, warmth isn't what they offer- either with the food (which they usually run out of most times) or the service.
The place needs at least 2x surge in the cleanliness to make it more pleasant.
Food: 4.5+
Ambience: 3
Service: 3.5
Overall breakfast is the best and the lunch is above average.
Jeethu Thampi Kandathil
A calm and quite, roadway place that reminds one of those typical Kerala restaurants back at Gods on country;) a must try for string hoppers (iddiappam) and hoppers (palappam) with the egg roast (sharp on ginger). Their masala dosa is typical Kerala style...(dosa filled from head to toe with potato masala) but yum... A gud place for a quick breakfast...
Anu Kumar Nair
Good Kerala food and reasonable price. It's like traditional Kerala mess a little messy but decent and affordable food. Evening snacks and tea is a big hit

The hotel is not hygienic. Visited this hotel last week along with my friend. Ordered egg dosas. While eating, identified some black coloured object inside dosa and realised that it was cockroach!! When we opened the dosa completely, found out that there were 2-3 cockroaches inside each dosa. So, i don't recommend anyone to visit this hotel, unless management takes care of the issue.

When I walked out of this place I hoped it had an entry on Zomato so that I could write a review and have some closure after having such a terrible experience. To start with, this place isn't even a restaurant. The owner is a prick who can't lose a chance to be rude. I was probably out of my mind to have breakfast here instead of my usual dine out. They don't even prepare most of their food. I found they were serving appams which were brought in a large polythene bag. The dosa was a shame against the traditional masala dosa. The idlis were dry and cold at 9am in the morning. The service is garbage. Unless you're a Keralite the waiter won't even look at you. I lost it all when, while at the billing counter the owner made fun of me in his native language. He probably assumed I don't understand Malayalam but I do to a certain degree. Avoid this garbage place. This "restaurant" lowers the standard of the whole street.
Justfood (Keerti Pratap Singh)
I had gone to this place on Wednesday for dinner with my friend. The ambiance of the place was not even ok. We ordered puttu, appam, green peas curry, tomato fry and chicken curry. Both the chicken curry an the green peas curry which they brought was cold. The taste of all the curry was not good. I only liked the appam here.
I am really not impressed with this place so can't suggest anyone to visit it.

Mangala Hotel
Authenic Kerala restaurant in the location. Located near BBQ Nation signal, towards Mani's Biriyani restaurant.
Headed for lunch to have something hot and fresh.

Just ordered Kerala Parota and Egg Curry.
There were 3 Parota in one Plate. Egg Curry had 3 Eggs and enough amount of gravy was served.
Parota was hot when served, by the time we reach eating the 3rd Parota, last one was not hot and crispy.

Egg masala was hot and good in taste. Gravy was based on tomato, it was not that spicy nor sweet in taste.

Ordered Cold Beverages, it was chilled served.

Food - 4/5
Service - 3/5
Cleanliness - 3/5
Must Try - Kerala Parota

Pretty average food... one of the worst fried rice I av eaten in my life. Regretted it d moment I took d first bite. N d food is too sweet for my liking.

Staying in koramangla 1st block, stone throw away from this restaurant, but never visited this place.

Today thought of having breakfast and stepped in.
Ambience was good. Almost all the tables were occupied when I entered ie 9.00 am. Soon after i occupied table was served with water, not normal water, reddish colour hot water. Didnt ask them what it was, drank a glass full of reddish hot water.
Saw few people having a dosa sort of thing, but complete white in colour (later came to know its called as appam) along with chicken curries and egg curries. Wondered people having chicken and egg curries along with appam for breakfast.
I ordered masala dosa, though asked for puri, they said puri is not served on sundays.dosa was crispy and good, served with cocunot chutney and sambar was very good.
In and around jakkasandra/koramangla 1st block, i can say this is the best place for having masala dosa.
#bon appetit
If you are fond of boiled rice like any Keralite or Mangalorean does this is the go to place.... Do not miss the fish fry..... The fish is quite fresh here..... A place which is buzzing during the regular weekdays.... Quick service..... The best part is for me was boiled rice is served by default....

All Kerala breakfast dishes are available.but I would suggest dosas which are even better.crisp at the edges, uniform brown can't stop singing praises.their meals are also good.would not recommend biriyani since it is NOT thalassery biriyani.chinese dishes are okay okay.and please don't order roti and palak paneer in a Kerala restaurant and write a bad review.it is akin to going to moti mahal and writing a review saying they didn't have puttu so am rating it below average.

Decent quality Kerala food.
Price is slightly on higher side. (ther recently increase it)
You get the feeling that the cleanliness is not that great. Not too bad as well.
Try this place if you love Kerala cuisine
Sunil Kashikar
I am a big lover of Kerala cuisine. And for sake of that love, I have tried out most of the Kerala food joints in and around Koramangala. In this list Mangala stands out for the quality, consistency and economy of the food they serve.

We are regular at this place for lunch. Maybe a couple of times a week. I would definately recommend their veg meals with fish fry or tge malabar style Chicken Biryani.

Bon appetite!

All those malayali guys in search of Kerala restaurant near jakkasandra this place is a relief. They have Kerala food that tastes authentic but this place is far from kept well. Not much ambience and nothing great about service but you can get Kerala style food which tastes good and pocket friendly too.

Overall Experience
Ambience-2/5
Food- 3.5/5
Service-2.5/5
Value for money -3/5
The place is nice and clean. Talking about food it's not that good for a especially North Indian dishes. Chapatis were half cooked. Also the order takes about 15 min to be served, so not a place to grab a quick bite. Overall it's an average.
Rishipratim Mazumdar
Small, no frills Kerela-style eatery. Seems to be pretty popular as I always find the place moderately crowded. Seating space is a bit congested. We had chicken biriyani and fish fry - food was okay, served on banana leaves ( loved that ).

This is officially the to be place for puttu and grams curry in koramangala, and is a usual Sunday breakfast option at my end.

The idiappams turned out to be dry.
They offer a good option for dosas too.
You can always end the Meal with a good cup of chai.

I've been here for the lunch meals and biryani too. I'd still prefer the breakfast options than the lunch.

Ashish George Daniel
Had been a regular at Mangala for about 4 years...
Nice kerala and "indian chinese" food available for the best budget...
Havent seen the bill cross 500 even when 4-5 of us used to get a lavish dinner here...
May not appear very clean, but never got sick from eating here...
Krishanu Sikdar
This is a Kerala speciality restaurant. They serve Appam, Kerala paranthas, traditional Kerala meals, biriyani - fish, chicken etc ... The Kerala veg meals is worth for what they charge and the sambar served is decent. If you would like to have different type biriyani as made in Kerala ... You should try it here. But I somehow do not like the Appam that they serve ..
Hari Krishna
kerala food.. its the very next step to my office... my friends usually have there breakfast and lunch.. so tried with masala dosa and it was good
Sanjay Santra
If you love Kerala foods, this is the place to go. Rates are very reasonable and foods taste great too. Only thing that needs to be improved is their North Indian Curries and the ambiance. Do not order any North Indian food over there as you may not like it. Talking about ambience, I don't care when I am damn hungry. Only thing I care is quality food and my pocket. Well, this restaurant is pocket friendly too and lots of bachelors will be around during lunch and dinner time.

Kerala meals.. Went for vishu sathya..

Ambience 1/5
Food 4/5
Rates 4/5

For a normal Kerala food with normal price rate..
Go with least expectation and get best
Mangala serves Kerala style food and it's a reasonable and economical option. Chicken Biriyani and Kerala meals are good so is the Pazhampori(Snack).

It has nice food and it's kerala style.... I love the big rice and the mid day meals is nice economical and filling and even the kerala parotha is awesome with meat curry.... It's nice place to have lunch.....

The food is alright... Quality and quantity are both fine and it's very reasonable... But wht I hate here is the sitting area and at times few of the over smart arrogant waiters. Since the restaurant is very close to my house I usually visit here. But couple of Times a fat man with thick moustache took the order and misbehaved. He literally pulled my plate and asked me to move when there was sufficiently enough space on other tables.
Roopesh Nair
Pretty good. Amazing prices. The Chicken biryani and Oon (meal) are the best for lunch.
Also dont miss to try the Pazham Porri(banana bhajji) if you see em!
Ajay Thomas
It's an economical restaurant which serves a bit above average(in terms of taste) Kerala food. The meals are good and are complemented nicely by fish fry. The chicken biriyani is also ok.
The main highlight is that it is affordable and it is the only such proper Kerala restaurant in that area.
Nixon George
Awesome chicken stew( only on sundays) and egg masala dosa.
Bobby Mathew
Tasty food indeed and worth the bucks.. Chapati and Porotta are good, along with curries.

I gave it 4 rating purely based on the value for money. this one is eons better than that crappy pseudo mallu restaurant called 'little home' nearby. try their chicken dry fry with meals or porota. I am not a fan of their fish though. meals are good and has a good spread for the money.

I used to go here for Lunch and dinner atleast twice in a month. Since there were not much Kerala restaurant in Jakkasandra, its the only option for Kerala cuisine.

For Lunch they serve biriyanis and meals, also Parotta. Biriyanis I tried once, it was not that good. Meals are OK, they serve avial, chutney, sambar, rasam, fish curry, papad and white/boiled(matta) rice. They have different varieties of fish fries like neymeen, ayila, and mathi. Parottas were OK with egg roast/egg curry. Egg roast tastes good but oily.

For Dinner, I used to have appam, puttu with kadala curry, egg masala. Those were my favorites here, as I cant get puttu anywhere nearby places. And important thing is that seeraka vellam(hot cumin water).

Our initial plan was to go to Mani's Dum Biryani and enroute we found this restaurant. On seeing the Banana bajji over the cash counter our plan changed and without any second thoughts we went into this restaurant.

The ambience was pretty basic and the service was swift. Since we went in the afternoon, we had meals. The items were pretty much the same which you ll find in any kerala meals esp the Fish curry, Sambhar, Rasam, Buttermilk and of course the boiled rice. The waiters will bring a platter full of fish (Kilimeen, Ayila, Mathi) and lure you to try it "An offer which one cant resist"! We felt that the fish was not fresh. Anyway, considering the price it was a real steal. The Parotas/Kadala curry and the biryani was cooked in perfect Mallu style.

Overall , a pretty decent place to have Mallu food.

Tip: Try the Omlettes.
Binu Kuruvilla
This is the place to be if you need kerala food.the chicken biryani is something to die for. To top everything up their specials sometimes include kappa and fish curry. Meals are delicious with a array of 7-8 side dishes and different fish fried items
Good kerala style food. Had meals with family. Illa fry was good. Service was average. Its good for bachelor who likes to have malayali food every day. Should try once for sure...
Mangala is the quintessential Mallu restaurant next door. They have the banana bajji sold over the cash counter. They have the appam and Kadala curry. The kerala parota and chicken curry. Kari meen, Kili meen, Slice, Ayila Matthi and all the other essentials. Add to this the boiled rice meal and the occasional Biryani, you have a mallu restaurant that you can frequent at least twice a month if not more.
